Samsung’s Z Fold 4 blends innovative design and premium performance
Tumblr media
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G is the latest iteration in Samsung’s foldable smartphone lineup, demonstrating just how far the technology has evolved since its inception.
The device embraces the now familiar book-like design, refining it with subtle improvements to enhance its appeal and durability. Reassuringly, it now boasts an improved hinge mechanism, providing a smoother folding experience that feels more natural and sturdy. It’s complemented by a water-resistant rating of IPX8, making the phone more resilient to the elements.
The exterior of the device features a 6.2-inch AMOLED cover screen, providing a compact smartphone experience for quick interactions. On unfolding, the Z Fold 4 5G reveals a 7.6-inch AMOLED main screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, delivering an immersive tablet-like experience. The bezels have been reduced and the under-display camera technology provides an unobtrusive screen layout, making for an improved viewing experience.
Performance and Battery Life
Equipped with a powerful Snapdragon 8cx Gen 3 chipset and 12GB of RAM, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G excels in performance, handling everyday tasks with ease and running demanding applications without hiccups. Despite its powerful internals, the device manages to maintain an impressive battery life, thanks to its 4,500mAh battery.
Samsung’s One UI 4, based on Android 12, offers seamless transitions between the cover screen and the main display. It also provides a host of multitasking options, such as Flex mode, which splits the main screen in half for simultaneous app usage. With the improved multi-window mode, users can run up to three apps at the same time. This was seamless and stutter free in our testing.
Cameras
The Z Fold 4 5G sports a triple-camera system on its rear, consisting of a 12MP ultra-wide, a 12MP wide-angle, and a 12MP telephoto lens, providing versatility for a variety of shooting scenarios. The main 12MP wide-angle camera produces sharp, detailed photos in a range of lighting conditions, with reliable autofocus and image stabilization. The 12MP ultra-wide lens captures a broader field of view, while the 12MP telephoto lens offers 3x optical zoom for distant subjects.
The under-display 4MP front camera, though not the highest resolution, produces decent if underwhelming selfies. However, the cover screen’s 10MP front-facing camera provides better quality for those seeking higher-resolution selfies and video calls.
Connectivity and Extras
As a 5G-enabled device, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G offers fast internet speeds for those with access to 5G networks, still a frustratingly spotty experience in South Africa. It also includes other advanced connectivity features such as Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.
The stereo speakers tuned by AKG, offered an impressively immersive audio experience for when you’ve left your earbuds at home.
One of the standout extras of the Z Fold 4 5G is the S Pen Fold Edition, which Samsung says provides a seamless stylus experience for note taking, drawing, and more. The S Pen Pro, a separate accessory, adds even more functionality, including remote control capabilities.
Alas, our review device did not come with either, but from what we’ve heard from those who’ve used these extras, it enhances the device’s multitasking capabilities significantly. However, Samsung hasn’t provided a slot in the Z Fold 4 to store a stylus, unlike its non-folding Galaxy S22 and S23 Ultra devices.
Our verdict
Samsung has refined the foldable smartphone experience with the Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G, showcasing a stunning design, top-tier performance, and a plethora of advanced features. Its improved hinge mechanism and water-resistant build make it more durable, while the seamless integration of software and hardware facilitates a versatile user experience.
The triple-camera system offers versatility and excellent photo quality, even though the under-display front camera may not be the best choice for selfie enthusiasts. The inclusion of the S Pen Fold Edition and AKG-tuned stereo speakers further enhance the device’s functionality and appeal.
However, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G’s steep price point means it’s not for everyone. It’s best suited for those who want a cutting-edge, high-performance device that can provide both a smartphone and a tablet experience in one package. For anyone willing to make the pretty hefty investment required, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G is a remarkable piece of technology that showcases the future of mobile devices.
The Galaxy Z Fold 4 5G is available on contract from R3 073,00/pm or for a cash price of R32 999.

Sustainable, innovative and smart: 3 trends at IFA 2023
Tumblr media
Exciting technologies, entertainment solutions and the latest devices are IFA classics. But something has been added: the technology fair takes a closer look at the environment, resources and energy.
Fully booked: The IFA[1] (September 1 to 5) couldn't always claim that. But this year the 26 exhibition halls are completely occupied with 2059 exhibitors from 48 countries, according to the organisers.
The exhibition areas House of Robots and Sustainability Village are brand new at the IFA. This leaves no doubt as to what topics consumer electronics, household appliances and the like are currently dealing with. An overview of three trends under the Berlin radio tower:
1. Sustainability and renewable energy
Many new devices will be shown at the fair that contain reused or at least recyclable materials. Because in order to be able to survive in the saturated smartphone market, manufacturers need new sales arguments. The industry association and IFA co-organiser gfu[2] analyses that “sustainability is a key element in securing growth”.
The market researcher GfK has observed that manufacturers are now increasingly addressing environmental aspects, also in marketing: the most common issues are ecological packaging, recycled material in and the CO2 footprint of products.
Durable, repairable and recyclable
Of course, the longevity of devices must also be taken into account when considering sustainability, which depends to a large extent on software updates, basic repairability and the availability of spare parts. And devices should of course be recycled at the end of their life cycle.
The smartphone manufacturer Fairphone[3] has made these points its business model. The latest Fairphone 5, which costs 700 euros, can be seen at the IFA. It is largely made from recycled materials and, like its predecessors, has a modular structure so that you can repair it yourself with just a screwdriver.
The manufacturer's promise to deliver the next five operating system updates for the Android 13 device and eight years of security updates is downright spectacular.
The Harman brand JBL[4] uses fully recycled fabric, 85 percent recycled plastic and 50 percent recycled aluminum in its three new WiFi speakers. The design of the devices called Authentics evokes associations with the 1970s. They offer streaming support for Airplay and Chromecast, as well as room-specific, automatic sound optimization.
Two language assistants can be used at the same time
Brand new is the possibility of using two different language assistants more or less simultaneously, namely Amazon's Alexa and Google's Assistant, which even cooperate for this purpose. The top model Authentics 500 (630 euros) also delivers Dolby Atmos surround sound.
Renewable energies are also a hot topic at the fair, especially for consumers in the form of small solar power plants. The manufacturer Technaxx,[5] for example, has developed a table (700 euros) for balconies and terraces, the top of which consists of solar modules that deliver up to 410 watts when the table is not in use. And Jackery[6] brought the solar generator 300 Plus (450 euros) to Berlin. It consists of a small, foldable 40-watt solar panel with a battery station for storing electricity.
2. Display and audio innovations
According to GfK, high-quality products with innovative features are also in demand. This is clearly evident in new TVs with OLED displays, but also in general in new TVs with innovative features. Some of these will be presented at the IFA, such as the Auracast technology[7].
Auracast makes it possible to stream the sound from a device wirelessly via Bluetooth to any number of nearby receivers, such as headphones, at the same time. So far, this has worked via Bluetooth with a maximum of two receivers at the same time.
Samsung has announced corresponding updates for current smart TVs (2023 Neo-QLED and Micro-LED series) and the in-ear headphones Galaxy Buds 2 Pro. And Philips is bringing the technology to its new Fidelio L4 headphones and Fidelio T2 in-ears. Generally, devices must support Bluetooth 5.3 with Low Energy (LE) audio to play Auracast,
Things are also working at Dolby[8]: the audio laboratory is demonstrating Atmos Flexconnect[9] in Berlin, a new technology that expands the TV sound system with wirelessly connected additional speakers. The Atmos spatial sound is then to be intelligently adapted to each room and each box placement and performance. From 2024, cooperation partner TCL[10] will supply compatible televisions, as well as the necessary loudspeakers.
The technology company Xperi[11] is setting up a similar system with DTS Play-Fi Home Theater. Compatible TVs should come from Philips first by 2024.
New camping TV with WiFi
Speaking of televisions: they usually run on 220 volts at home from the socket. Because campers on the road can do very little with this tension, Thomson builds a camping TV (24 or 32 inches) with WLAN that can be hung on the caravan wall or placed on the camping table with two adjustable feet but also runs with 12 or 24 volt on-board power.
LG has also come up with the lifestyle display Stanbyme Go[12] for on the go, which comes with a speaker system in a stylish case and has rechargeable batteries for up to three hours of operation. When you open the case, the adjustable screen turns on automatically. Laid flat on the table, digital board games also run on the touch display. Otherwise, videos, films or music can be streamed from the smartphone to the suitcase display without any problems.
And the IFA would not be the IFA if there were no gigantic new televisions to see: Under the motto "Big in Berlin", Samsung is presenting two new 98-inch models (4K QLED Q80C and 8K Neo QLED QNC990), which with their almost 2 .50 meters screen diagonal are now really wall-filling.
The new Samsung projector "The Freestyle 2"[13] offers even more powerful images but saves space. Couple two of these together and you get a 120-inch portrait image and a 160-inch landscape image, which should result in a huge 21:9 cinema screen horizontally.
3. Connected and smart living
The Sustainability Village also houses the House of Smart Living, which focuses on intelligent energy control and automation of devices and buildings. A lot here revolves around the smart home standard Matter,[14] which has been ready for almost a year.
Matter is now waiting to be integrated into as many devices as possible so that they can be easily set up via QR code, used across manufacturers and combined. Technically, Matter is based on LAN, WLAN, the Thread network protocol and partly on Bluetooth LE (from version 4.2).
For a long time, consumers had to commit themselves to one smart home provider and its components. But now the chances for Matter are good in the smart home world, which has so far been fragmented in terms of standards. Amazon, Apple, Google, LG and Samsung are also active in the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA)[15], which has several hundred member companies and has defined Matter.
These manufacturers have already made many of their devices, from televisions to smart displays, as well as their operating systems and smart home apps, fit for Matter so that compatible switches, door locks, sensors and lamps, as well as household appliances from a wide variety of manufacturers, can be controlled via these control centres can.
Or smart sockets: a switchable WLAN socket for 15 euros is the first Matter product from accessories specialist Hama. Admittedly a simple part, but one with which almost any device can be integrated into the smart home.
There is also news from Signifiy[16], whose smart Philips Hue lights are widely used. The manufacturer is adding security cameras and a contact sensor for doors, windows or cupboards to its range, but above all has announced Matter compatibility for autumn 2023: for all Hue products via the Philips Hue Bridge[17].

[1] The IFA or Internationale Funkausstellung Berlin (International radio exhibition Berlin, a.k.a. 'Berlin Radio Show') is one of the oldest industrial exhibitions in Germany. Between 1924 and 1939 it was an annual event, but from 1950 it was held every other year until 2005. Since then it has become an annual event again, held in September. Today it is one of world's leading trade shows for consumer electronics and home appliances.
[2] Eleven leading consumer electronics companies founded gfu in 1973. The name of the organisation at that time was also its goal: The Society for the Promotion of Consumer Electronics in Germany. Since then, many companies in the home appliance industry have become gfu’s partners, reflecting the changes in the industry. This also prompted the company name to change to gfu Consumer & Home Electronics GmbH.

[10] TCL Technology (originally an abbreviation for Telephone Communication Limited) is a Chinese electronics company headquartered in Huizhou, Guangdong Province. It designs, develops, manufactures, and sells consumer products including television sets, mobile phones, air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators, and small electrical appliances. Xperi Inc. was formerly part of Xperi Holding Corporation,[2] which was itself the result of significant M&A over many years, including publicly traded firms such as DTS, Inc. and TiVo Corporation
[12] Few people will go on holiday and put a television in their suitcase. Still, there may well be a market for the LG StanbyMe Go, a television that is equipped with AirPlay 2 and is already built into a case as standard. It will be on sale in the United States from August and in Europe from September. This television is remarkable: it is a 27-inch 1080p LED touchscreen TV with a built-in battery that lasts up to three hours. There are also 20 Watt speakers. The size is a bit small, but the specs are very reasonable: the StanbyMe Go offers support for HDR10 and Dolby Vision, something you often only see with the better TVs.
[13] Samsung’s original Freestyle portable projector had a ton of promise, but it really fell apart in the execution and was severely overpriced for the hardware specs on offer. Still, the blueprint was encouraging, and it seemed like just the kind of product that Samsung could nail the second time around — or so I hoped. But back at CES in January, the company showed off a barely changed revision of the Freestyle that addressed virtually none of my quibbles with the original. It was updated with Samsung’s latest TV software, which meant owners would be able to access the Gaming Hub and various cloud gaming services from Xbox, Nvidia, and more. Samsung also demonstrated a neat “smart edge blending” trick whereby you could combine two Freestyle projectors for a massive 150-inch picture. https://www.theverge.com/2023/8/17/23835667/samsung-freestyle-gen-2-portable-projector-now-available
[14] Matter originated from the Zigbee Alliance, a protocol that users of Philips Hue lamps, for example, have been familiar with for some time. Matter allows devices to communicate with each other, regardless of who the manufacturer is. Apple, Google and Amazon have had a partnership since 2019 under the name 'CHIP'. Matter originated from this group. Matter will ensure that almost all your smart home devices work together seamlessly.
[15] The Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA), formerly the Zigbee Alliance, is a group of companies that maintain and publish the Zigbee and Matter standard, along with several others. The name Zigbee is a registered trademark of this group, and is not a single technical standard. The organization publishes application profiles that allow multiple OEM vendors to create interoperable products. The relationship between IEEE 802.15.4 and Zigbee is similar to that between IEEE 802.11 and the Wi-Fi Alliance.
[16] Signify N.V., formerly known as Philips Lighting N.V., is a Dutch multinational lighting corporation formed in 2016 as a result of the spin-off of the lighting division of Philips, by means of an I.P.O.[2] The company manufactures electric lights, light fixtures and control systems for consumers, professionals and the IoT. In 2018, Philips Lighting changed its name to Signify. The company still produces lights under the Philips brand.
[17] The Hue Bridge is the brain of the Philips Hue smart lighting system. You can connect up to fifty lamps and accessories with it. Plug it in and use the Hue app to set routines, timers, custom light scenes and much more.

CNET LAPTOPS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN HOW TO
CNET LAPTOPS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN 1080P
CNET LAPTOPS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN FULL
CNET LAPTOPS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN PRO
CNET LAPTOPS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN SOFTWARE
CNET LAPTOPS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN PRO
If you need the best display, the Galaxy Book Pro is what you want. And if you have a Galaxy Tab S7 or later, you can use that as a wireless second display. You can do things like send files between your Galaxy phone and the laptop, sync photos and notes and quickly switch your Galaxy Buds connection from your phone to the laptop.
CNET LAPTOPS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN SOFTWARE
Plus, it has all the same Galaxy Book Experience software that you get with the Pro models so that all your Galaxy devices can easily work together. The Galaxy Book is otherwise a good midrange 15.6-inch touchscreen laptop, particularly if you value ports over things like a fingerprint reader. The Galaxy Book has more ports than the Pro. The touchpad is also plastic instead of glass. For the Galaxy Book, it means there's no fingerprint sensor built into the power button, the keycaps have more of a rough plastic texture than the soft-touch feel of the Pro's keyboard and, probably the worst part, it's not backlit. The keyboard and touchpad usually take a hit, too. It's pretty typical for laptop makers to use a lower-end display to balance out the cost of higher build quality and better internal components. And overall performance is strong, and battery life actually ran nearly an hour longer than Samsung's eight-hour rating, getting 8 hours, 53 minutes on our video streaming test. At least it does have an HDMI output so it's easy enough to connect an external monitor for those times you do need a better display for work or entertainment. Especially if you're considering the Galaxy Book mainly for productivity more than for watching movies or editing photos and video. If you're looking directly at it and you have the angle just right, the display is OK. The keys aren't backlit on the Galaxy Book.
CNET LAPTOPS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN FULL
It is a matte touchscreen and full HD, though, so those specs are correct. The brightness on my display was 241 nits at 100%. For color gamut coverage, it tested at 58% sRGB, 41% NTSC, 43% AdobeRGB and 43% P3. In reality, it has poor color and contrast and only gets worse when you look at it off-angle.
CNET LAPTOPS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN 1080P
On paper, the display sounds like a bargain for the price, too: 15.6-inch 1080p matte touchscreen LCD with 300-nit brightness. It's one of the corners that's been cut to get the price down. But this isn't the Pro and, as a Samsung representative pointed out to me, the display in the $1,000 configuration is the same as in the cheaper $750 model. Samsung is known for its high-quality displays, and the one on the Galaxy Book Pro is fantastic. Part of the issue is my own expectations, which are likely those of other Galaxy device owners. The Galaxy Book has a simple, characterless design.ĭespite the extra graphics performance, the Galaxy Book's display is a big disappointment. With demanding games, you may get playable frame rates at low settings, but set on high you'll be lucky to break 30 frames per second. In other words, it's not going to help with gaming. It's not designed for really demanding graphics tasks, but can speed up things like video encoding and raw photo editing. The Iris Xe Max GPU is a step up from the integrated graphics you'd typically find in a thin-and-light laptop like the Galaxy Book and competes with Nvidia's entry-level discrete graphics options, like the GeForce MX350. USB-C (x2), USB-A (x2), audio/mic jack, HDMI out, microSD card slot But it also has one big knock against it compared to the Pro models, and it's one that some will find too difficult to ignore.ġ5.6-inch 1,920x1,080-pixel touch display Samsung also includes better-than-integrated Intel Iris Xe Max discrete graphics in the Galaxy Book, even at its $750 starting price. It has an all-metal chassis for a higher-end look and feel, and the same 11th-gen Core i5 and i7 processors as the Pro models. The non-Pro version of the Galaxy Book is the more middle-of-the-road option. The Galaxy Book Pro and Pro 360 models have all the bells and whistles like AMOLED displays, Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports and premium keyboards and touchpads. This balance between premium features and affordability carries over to the company's current laptop lineup, too.
CNET LAPTOPS FOR GRAPHIC DESIGN HOW TO
Samsung also knows how to make good budget phones and tablets, like its Galaxy A-series devices, using the right combo of materials and components to cover the essentials at a fair price. Just take a look at the Galaxy S22 phones or Galaxy Tab S8 tablets: Elegant designs matched with the best tech. Samsung knows how to make a premium device.

Visit Galaxy Book4’s Smarter, Stronger Futures
Tumblr media
Samsung Galaxy Book4 Series Advanced Features Samsung has announced the launch of the Galaxy Book4 Ultra, Book4 Pro, and Book4 Pro 360 its most intelligent PC lineup to date. The newest series of AI PCs delivers the highest level of productivity, mobility, and connectivity. It also has a more vibrant and engaging display, a strong security system, and an intelligent CPU. The device itself is made better by these improvements, which also elevate the Samsung Galaxy ecosystem as a whole, pushing the PC market and speeding up Samsung’s goal of AI innovation for the future.
“Samsung is dedicated to giving consumers the freedom to explore new possibilities that improve their daily lives. The vast Galaxy ecosystem and open cooperation with other top players in the market can help us reach this new paradigm, according to TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics. “The ecosystem will benefit from best-in-class connectivity brought by the Galaxy Book4 series, which will expand people’s interactions with their PCs, phones, tablets, and other devices for truly intelligent and connected experiences.”
Leveling Up Intelligent Productivity with Secure Performance An clever processor powers the powerful performance of the Galaxy Book4 series, maximizing productivity. A speedier central processing unit (CPU), a more powerful graphics processing unit (GPU), and a recently added neural processing unit (NPU) are all combined into one compact package in the newest series’ Intel Core Ultra 9 processor. Together with over 100 Independent Software Vendors (ISV) and Intel’s industry-first AI PC Acceleration program, the new CPU is enabling innovative new AI capabilities and assisting in increasing productivity on the Galaxy Book4 series.
Furthermore, the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Laptop GPU enhances the user experience. Fast, generative AI-based creation tools powered by NVIDIA Studio technology boost creativity. For instance, RTX-optimized Stable Diffusion allows you to quickly generate beautiful visuals with simple text. Users of the Galaxy Book4 Ultra can also immerse themselves completely in games thanks to the NVIDIA Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) technology, which produces visuals of higher quality for more than 500 well-known ray-traced games and applications.
The device can function to its fullest capacity since improved hardware performance completely supports intelligent productivity. With a new, improved cooling system that includes an 11% bigger vapor chamber and a twin fan with an unequal blade spacing design, the Galaxy Book4 Ultra reduces heat and fan noise. Because of its improved power efficiency, your device can last longer between charges. Moreover, users of the Galaxy Book4 Ultra can rapidly add 55 percent more battery life in just 30 minutes with the 140W adaptor, which is 1.4 times larger than its predecessor.
The importance of data security and privacy has increased along with the intelligence and connectivity of gadgets. For this reason, Samsung is strengthening security protocols at the chipset level for the Galaxy Book series for the first time, building on the heritage of security it has created via numerous Samsung Galaxy devices with Samsung Knox. A new standalone Samsung Knox security chip, added to the multi-layered security initiatives already in place with Intel and Microsoft, safeguards key system data independently in all three models.
Superb Display and Cutting-Edge Connectivity to Operate Anywhere, Anytime With the improved display of the Galaxy Book4 series, you can see clearly and continue working while on the road. The Dynamic AMOLED 2X display of the series provides excellent indoor and outdoor viewing with crisp contrast and vibrant color. While anti-reflective technology lessens distracting reflections, Vision Booster automatically improves visibility and color reproduction in bright settings using an Intelligent Outdoor Algorithm. All three variants of the Galaxy Book4 series now have touchscreens, which enhances the watching experience and makes it fully interactive with a touch-based user interface that is optimized and comfortable, similar to what you would find on a smartphone or tablet.
For a whole PC experience, having cutting-edge audio is equally as critical as having excellent pictures. Rich bass and upper octaves are delivered by AKG Quad speakers with Dolby Atmos for clean, clear sound. With the help of bi-directional AI noise cancellation and studio-caliber dual microphones, you can record clear video conversations even in busy outdoor settings. Realistic sounds with lower latency are made possible by LE Audio, an improved Bluetooth audio standard, when used with Galaxy Buds Pro, enhancing the immersiveness of activities like gaming.
With Auto Switch, you can effortlessly connect your Buds to a variety of devices, including your PC, TV, tablet, and smartphone, so you can experience hands-free device listening. The Galaxy Book4 series’ larger touchpad and several connectors, including a new HDMI 2.1 port, are further features intended to improve use. Powerful opportunities are opened when on the go thanks to the compact and lightweight design that houses all these functions.
Users of the Galaxy Book4 series can enjoy even greater increased productivity and creativity when paired with Galaxy smartphones and tablets. With Samsung Studio, a new video production tool accessible on all Samsung Galaxy devices, you can continue editing videos taken with your phone or tablet in greater detail on your PC.
It is designed to let everyone be a creative. With AI-enabled optimization for picture-perfect results, Photo Remaster is now accessible on Samsung Gallery for PC, allowing you to rapidly edit photographs and automatically remove undesired shadows and reflections. With Second Scree, you may increase your productivity by using your tablet as a Book4 display. It offers multiple modes, including Duplicate, Extension, and now Rotation.

A little rant about Xiaomi products.
Before I actually say anything, keep in mind that these are experiences I had firsthand and stories of my friends who are also working professionals. I use my phone to work as well.
This isn't to bash at Xiaomi or anything, it's just about telling what I know and think about their products.
I own a Redmi Note 10 Pro
This is the phone I bought back in 2021 for work and school reasons, as my older phone was at the end of its battery lifespan. Near the end, at least.
At first, the phone was crazy powerful for being only 339 euros cheap and I actually got to enjoy the phone quite a lot. I loved it so much that I decided that it had to be my own personal phone. It served me well during the school year as it had an awesome camera, an awesome sound system and a really good screen. It had Android 11 out of the box and it was perfect. It was truly a phone I wish I had earlier. The very reason I bought the phone for was the balance it had on all aspects: design, performance, screen and battery. And on that note, the battery is damn chunky as it could last me up to 24 hours.
However, as time went by things started to fall apart. When I updated the phone to Android 12, problems started. You see, the first and the most important problem I started having was the keyboard. It stopped working as in it started not to appear when I needed it to type anything, regardless of the app I was using. Be it WhatsApp, Telegram or Instagram. The keyboard wouldn't show up and it created me a whole lot of problems both at school and at work.
The second issue I had was MIUI itself. What really bothers me is I get ads on the security checker, or anything really. Despite turning off those things it still bothers me a lot because Xiaomi puts a lot of pressure on app security and permissions (i.e. when I give a specific app notification access it would block me for 10 seconds) all while putting ads on a file manager or scanner.
Finally, the reason I reverted back to my old phone (which is a Samsung Galaxy S10) is the broken camera. This was a mistake on my end, yes, but with my camera damaged I don't think the phone has use anymore.
I also bought the Mi Band 6
I absolutely love the product in itself, I really do. However, the software management on the phone is god awful. While the product scores 9/10 in my books, all the apps managing the band are so awfully made I kinda gave up on using them.
The band (maybe I can just call it a watch since it also tells the time) is really a good product in itself, because its value started shining when I put it to use in various sports scenarios. I use the watch to track my jump rope workouts, my steps, my boxing sessions, my Basketball sessions, hell, even my bodyweight workout sessions. It is a great tool and it serves its purpose really well. The only think I don't like about the watch is being too sensitive when I put my gloves on. Therefore, sweat activates the screen and quits the workout immediately. This doesn't happen on swimming though. I had the time to actually test the band on the water and it proved to be not only useful, but resistant.
Now, moving on to the apps that actually manage the thing: everyone sucks. I'm not joking at all. I would laugh but it actually makes me cry.
Let me explain.
Zepp Life (which was Mi Fit) used to be perfect but now it doesn't feel so smooth anymore, in my opinion. This is because the whole new design language and coming back to it gave me a really hard time. Also, the flaw the app had ever since I set up everything was its lack of data sync. Google fit doesn't work too good and it always display the workouts on the watch as either walking or others. Just not the actual workout itself. To solve this problem I resort to Strava and it really is a good app, however Zepp Life doesn't support it.
Zepp (it's called just Zepp) is another app that manages watches like mine and it can sync to both Strava and Google Fit. Functionally, it is the perfect app, however it doesn't let me edit the watch face because the default design isn't my type.
I don't even wanna start talking about Xiaomi Fitness because God forbid that app was useful. For starters, it didn't even recognize my watch.
I'm saying so many things about the products so far, but I think this is the best place to do so.
I also had the Xiaomi TWS Earbuds 2 Basic
What can I say? I hated the experience as a whole. The buds kept calling in the Google Assistant at the weakest of wind it even dared to get near the sensor of my left bud. Same thing to Bixby. And there was no official solution for this problem, such as remapping the buttons or disabling the button as a whole. I should really code an app for Android that could actually do that. I care a lot about this kind of accessories because I used them to get my music going during training.
My friends also had problems with their Redmi phones
I know someone that got all their stuff gone for no reason whatsoever and that stuff wasn't backed up because their cloud storage was full.
And today an old colleague talked about an issue with the dialer, when the calls come the phone doesn't receive them or even worse, the phone just don't even turn the screen off when they put said phone on their ear.
Just these two stories alone made me think today. Also, I'm actually glad to know that I'm not the one being stupid with a malfunctioning phone. And on that note, going to get it fixed per warranty didn't do much, because all the shop did was update the firmware. Like wtf, you were supposed to fix the problem. Now my warranty is used. I don't even wanna remember such things, especially because I'll switch to something else once I can.
Final thoughts
I'm just glad I switched phones back.

Samsung Galaxy Book Pro: Samsung Galaxy Book Pro Review
Samsung Galaxy Book Pro Review
Samsung Galaxy Book Pro is the latest flagship from almost all the victorious electronics giants. We say 'almost', while Samsung dominates in many areas including smartphones, TVs, and storage, to name just a few, it hasn't had the same level of success with laptops.
However, with the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro, it's clear that the company wants to change that, and has created a stylish high-end laptop that packs Intel's latest 11th-generation processors. In fact, like the HP Specter x360 (2021) and Dell XPS 13 (Late 2020), the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro is an Intel Evo-certified laptop.
Intel Evo platforms are designed to deliver a certain level of performance, so they must have 11th generation processors, wake up from sleep in less than a second, Thunderbolt for super-fast data transfer speeds Offer 4 ports and deliver more than nine hours of battery life. . The idea is that if you buy a laptop with the Intel Evo badge on the box, you should know you're getting a pretty impressive performer. Then no pressure.
With the high-end new Intel CPUs and Samsung's 'Galaxy' branding that the company reserves for its flagship products, it will come as no surprise to know that the Samsung Galaxy Book Pro is an expensive laptop. For the 15.6-inch model we review here, you're looking at a minimum of $1,199.99 / £1,099 (about AU$2,000). This is a big part of the change in one's standards.
