If you ever wanna see me automatically start dancing at a party play this and it’s over
Also this was at like every party when j was little and forgot about the song for a hot minute and it STILL SLAPS
Also Hispanic heritage month is coming up and here’s my piece to share (: it’s a Colombian salsa that everyone knows the song is called Rebelión - Joe Arroyo (rebellion) and the song is about the times of slavery and how badly they treated.
I thought it was an amazing song because of the History it has in it and what happened during those times (1600s) . Here’s one verse that is translated directly from the song: (info- negra is a word that means black woman and isn’t intended to be a slur of any kind but one of endearment referring to their skin tone. My nickname from my grandma is actually negra.
[An African couple, slaves of a Spaniard
(Clip starts here) He treated them very badly And hit his Black woman
It was then, that the heroic black man rebelled He avenged his love
And you can still hear him yelling at the gates, Don't hit my black woman! (Don't hit the black woman, Don't hit the black woman)
Hey man!
Don't hit the black woman, Don't hit the black woman
Hey, respect my lady Ehh, you can still hear, hear him yelling at the gates. Don't hit the black woman”]
I just never knew what the song was about when I was you her I just knew it slapped
“El auge actual de la música urbana tiene un antecedente directo en la llamada salsa brava, que proyectó a nivel mundial el gusto por los ritmos caribeños durante la segunda mitad del siglo XX. Surgida en Nueva York con el sello Fania Records, reunió un elenco de músicos latinoamericanos que hoy son leyenda. En su legado, el barrio es una seña de identidad, así como sus letras, composiciones, intérpretes e instrumentistas de grabaciones y orquestas memorables”.
