Your wedding may come as a surprise to maybe people or your family or you lol. Maybe your bf surprises you with a proposal or something like that. The wedding in general seems sudden and surprising. A lot of talks will go around in your family, like not bad thoughts at all, it's like omg did you hear S.B is getting married. You know how Desi households are lmfao. So your wedding will be the talk of the town. If you are walking in the street and some aunty is hanging out with another aunty and she sees you and as you move ahead she'll tell the other one,'look she is getting married, the guys is like this, wedding will be like that' such a random scene but high possibility that will happen. You wedding will have a lotta emotions surrounding it. The ladies in your family especially will feel very nostalgic. Like you know how they say 'itni choti thi abhi itni badi hogayi hai' kinda vibe going on. They'll remember how you used to run around the house and play around and now you are getting married today. Very much feelings involved, awwww. It might take place in the night is what I'm seeing tho. Winter is also a possibility. Everyone in your family will be busy like your whole house will be busy man. Some uncle is behind the flower guy, making sure he is decorating well, another uncle is talking to the mithaiwala, aunty is talking to bangle lady, one lady is making sure everyone is doing their job. Everyone is busy cause they want the day to be perfect, they wanna make you feel the best you possibly can. You maybe the one whose wedding is most awaited or it may be the case that you have a cousin who is way older and after many years finally there's a wedding in your families or you may be the youngest or oldest. Either way the wedding is a much awaited one. There's good communication between your family and your husband's family as well, so that's nice, if y'all have a ceremony together that will go well planned and organized as well.

AMBIENCE: at the wedding place

Firstly let me tell you straight up, there are some nosy aunties who will be jealous, please be cautious and don't let them get to you. It's like you may have an intercaste marriage or your spouse may be financially very stable and his career is going great, so they are jealous, especially I see an aunty who has 2 daughters😶 anyways you will be marrying your soulmate, that's what people will see. They'll be in awe. They'll see this as a super cute wedding. Your fs maybe playful, they'll see him teasing you randomly. You will look beautiful that days people will talk about that. I'm not Bengali lol but I heard BHALOBASHI damn🙌 so yes very dreamy and super cute vibes. People will love your attire and they'll love the decor and the place as well. It might be a destination wedding or little far from your home. You will have a huge wedding, many guests. People chattering, photos, camera clicking, lovely food, beautiful stage/mantap like very traditional but modern.

Dark skinned people are tired of seeing themselves be erased in media. Explicitly, canonically mentioned dark characters are swapped for light skinned ones. Off the top of my head I can think of at least 3 instances at the current moment. 2 of them are from Shadow and Bone Netflix while 1 is from the BBC adaptation of Vikram Seth's A Suitable Boy- the latter was practically revolving around the prejudices against young women of postcolonial India, INCLUDING skin complexion. Lata, the protagonist is constantly criticized for being too dark, from light jibes to downright insults about how her children will be affected. She is compared unfavorably to her "sweet, beautiful, fair complexioned sister" Savita. And then we got the much hyped BBC adaptation, and Lata looks like this:

Uh sorry but this is not dark skinned. Yet this is the version of Lata the world will know. Simply because directors won't make a simple fucking effort.

Never in any of my posts have I said anything disparaging about Sujaya Dasgupta and Kit Young as actors or as "unattractive" people. At most I said they don't look anything like their book counterparts which many people interpreted as an insult. Well it's not. Get some comprehension abilities. Here is how Jesper is described in the book

And Zoya's skin colour is never specified but she is said to be half Suli in King of Scars. Now I know y'all will immediately jump to the conclusion that OMG JES AND ZOYA ARE BIRACIAL THEY CAN BE PALE SKINNED but literally, LITERALLY biracial people can be dark skinned too and the fact that your thinking automatically goes to pale skin by default shows a lot about how the dark skinned (biracial or otherwise) people are sidelined and treated even at the cost of their identities.

Y'all remember Hunger Games?? Katniss, Gale, Haymitch and Rue, who looked like typical inhabitants of their respective districts with OLIVE SKIN OR BROWN SKIN were all played by white actors/ light skinned woc and even Finnick Odair who was "bronze skinned" was played by uh....Sam Claflin. There was some outcry then everybody forgot. Just as everybody will forget that Lata was dark and Jesper and probably Zoya too, if we judge by the official Kevin Wada fanart.

(yes I know she was a retcon. Yes I know Kaya Scodelario, Katie McGrath and Zhenya Katava are the preferred face claims for her)

Does this mean that light skinned POC should never be cast??? NO! But they shouldn't substitute characters explicitly called dark? Because it absolutely nullifies the point of representation. I love the casting of Alina and Nadia. Jessie is a very light skinned part Taiwanese lady who TF cares she is playing ALINA STARKOV, the main lady AND her role isn't robbing a dark skinned actress of a deserved part. Unlike say, Jlaw in THG.

And listen, I'm probably being repetitive but colorism isn't a joke and brushing it away with an insensitive callous remark like "well opinions can differ, I like them anyway" and other such ridiculous statements spoken from a place of complete ignorance can be annoying and condescending. I've had at least 5 people corner me about "being hateful" about the Netflix show. Oh I'm sorry, if I, a dark WOC should be hurt and upset. And oh yeah Sujaya is a Bengali woman like me so no, I don't need to "check myself" while talking about WOC. Enough with this fucking pearl clutching. My main problem isn't with her hair or her eyes (I would have loved to, y'know, see an actual east European actor with wild curly hair or a lady with zoya's famous blue eyes but how many WOC have blue eyes? It's unrealistic for casting anyway) it's that as a Bengali myself I can see she's not nearly as dark skinned as to belong to the same ethnic strain as Inej Ghafa and it reeks suspiciously of the whole All Asians Can Be Divided into Broad Categories Trope.

Microaggressions are real. Colorism is real.

And not everything is a personal attack to you or your fave. If you can't support people who are affected by these, at least, at the very very least, don't tone police us.

I know we have practically nothing to go by, but what do you think of the casting news for NHIE? I'm a little worried (is that the right word?) about the new character being someone "whose confidence and radiance will pose an immediate threat" to Devi, mainly because what I liked about Devi was her (sometimes unwarranted lol) confidence and I kinda wanted the show to explore her relationships with El and Fab more (she's been a terrible friend!). Maybe I'm being prematurely negative because 2020!

i mean, to be fair, devi isn’t actually confident. one of her most well-defined character traits is her insecurity, which she covers with a brash, ‘i totally got this’ attitude. so it’s entirely possible that being introduced to this new girl, aneesa, will only make her work harder to look like she has her shit together. which is to say, i’m sure we’ll get plenty of moments a la devi asking paxton to sleep with her in the first conversation they ever have.

but you did touch on the reason i was immediately wary (worried works, too, of course) when i saw there was going to be a whole new character last night - our current cast of characters is not nearly fleshed out enough! kamala, paxton, fabiola, and eleanor are all a little one-dimensional. there’s a good set-up there for each of them, but the show didn’t do enough to make them feel like people with foibles and beating hearts the way they managed with devi, nalini, and - largely thanks to our stepping into his pov for an episode - ben in season one. and one of the things i was most looking forward to in season two was seeing each of the characters come into their own/get a bit more depth. (and that’s not even accounting for tertiary characters like eve, eric, or shira who all give the universe flavor but have -10 personality traits).

the show gave us a wonderful, colorful world in season one, and plenty of interpersonal dynamics to play around with. it could keep my attention for, like, four seasons working with the raw materials it had and never feel boring. (obviously! i’ve written a ton of fanfic because i want to dig deeper into these characters’ relationships!) if anything, one of my main complaints about season one is that its focus was so tight on devi’s grief, that it half-assed every B and C plot it introduced. adding more without truly ripping into what’s already there...WARY! it makes me wary.

but, to get to your other point, i’m trying trying trying to keep an open mind becaaaause

(following up on my previous message on NHIE) I am excited that there's another desi on the show! Growing up in a Bengali community (in the middle of nowhere USA), we were constantly forced to hang out with other Bengali kids our age (who are now some of my best friends), so I did wonder about that last season. Hopefully Aneesa will help Devi explore/be more comfortable with her culture this season. Omg I can't believe I have so many thoughts about a 30 second reel lol

there is absolutely the potential that they’ll do something i’d love - like what you’ve proposed here. i mean, i would have preferred if this kind of storyline went to nalini, because she desperately needs connection to her people in sherman oaks, but exploring it at all strikes me as a good move.

so yeah, trying not to make up my mind about her before we’ve actually seen what the show intends. but like. i dislike change and the show IS already crowded. so. i don’t even know, my dude. i hope she wins me over - that’s what i’m rooting for, even if it’s not 100% what i’m expecting.

Do you write fluff/angst/crack/general/smut, combo, etc? Why? I prefer writing fluff and crack over angst. Writing angst makes me unhappy, unfortunately. I've never written smut and I don't think I'll write it anytime soon since I'm uncomfortable with it.

Do you write OCs, X Readers, Ships...etc? I generally write × reader online, but for personal projects I write OCs.

Why did you decide to write for Tumblr? I had a lot of ideas that I wanted to write and share, so I decided to share them via Tumblr! I can make friends and hone my writing at the same time!

What inspires you to write? The people around me inspire me to write. I like people watching a lot. Not like in a creepy way, but just little things, like a man working on the train, a mother trying to calm down her crying baby. That's how I click portraits too! By people watching.

What genres/AUs do you enjoy writing the most? I like writing Hogwarts AUs the most! I feel like I'm the one wielding the wand and going on adventures in the castle. I also like to write fairytale AUs, where there's a prince and a princess, or a prince and a commoner, etc. I like to see my characters come to life in settings like these.

What do you hope your readers take away from your work? When they read, I hope my readers feel what I felt while writing the work! I want them to feel the love I put into the work, I want them to laugh and just feel good, overall. I hope they feel satisfied, like I feel when I read a good book or a story.

What do you do when you hit a rough spot creatively? I either listen to really really sad music, or observe the weather. Rainy days are my most productive days.

What is your favorite work and why? Your most successful? My most successful work is the father!Jaemin drabble while my most favourite work is 'Games', the cheater!Haechan oneshot. I felt confident when I wrote it. I'm a true romantic, so that particular work was a departure from my usual comfort zone.

Who is your favorite person to write about? Jaemin! His lovable nature is perfect for my usually fluffy and feel-good stories.

Do you think there’s a difference between writing fanfiction vs. completely original prose? I do think there's a difference between writing fanfiction and completely original prose. In fanfiction, I have a basic idea about the character of the idol I'm writing about. I know what makes him/her laugh, his/her quirks. But in original prose, I have liberty to fashion my characters however I want. I can make him/her weird, normal, etc. I can do anything I want with my own characters.

What do you think makes a good story? Imagery! I feel that not many writers have the power to make me see or feel like I'm living in their world. But those who have that particular skill, I like reading their stories the most!

What is your writing process like? Suppose I get an idea, I first think about it, and then I start working. I haven't planned any fic thoroughly yet, but I try to get a good idea of what I'm going to write before I actually start writing.

Would you ever repurpose a fic into a completely original story? Maybe.

What tropes do you love, and what tropes can’t you stand? I love enemies-to-lovers, friends with benefits to lovers. I dislike the rich man falls in love with poor girl trope.

How much would you say audience feedback/engagement means to you? I'd say, a lot. Like, out of 100% , 95%. I really, truly, want others to enjoy my work and take away something from them. Feedback motivates me to write.

Do you ever feel like people have misunderstood you or your writing at times? Not yet, thankfully. I hope they don't anytime soon.

Do your offline friends/loved ones know you write for Tumblr? My parents and 1 or 2 of my friends know about it.

What is one thing you wish you could tell your followers? I wish I could tell them that I'm here, if they want to talk or rant.

Do you have any advice for aspiring writers who might be too scared to put themselves out there? I'd tell them to do it. Take the risk. If you don't, you'll be left wondering"what if?" Life is not long enough to have regrets .

Are there any times when you regret joining Tumblr? Omg yes. The technical issues are a real headache.

i speak 3 fluently (including english), but i went to undergrad in south india so i have a decent understanding of tamil and know a few words here and there in telugu, malayalam, kannada!

as much as Farrukh's confession made me facepalm but i LOVE the buildup to it. Mahesh Vaman Manjrekar (born 16 August 1958)(1) is an Indian film director, actor, writer and producer.(2)(3) He is credited with directing the critically acclaimed films Vaastav: The Reality (1999), Astitva (2000) and Viruddh.. Plot: Even though they struggle to make ends meet, Namdeo (Jitendra Joshi) and Ganga (Veena Janmkar) live a peaceful life with their children Laxmi (Gauri Ingawale) and Subhan (Mihir Soni). Namdeo, who works as a gardener, will go any heights to fulfill the wants of his family. He even does some extra work and bears all pains with a smile. However, their simple life turns ugly when they are faced with a number of obstacles.

Namdeo receives unconditional family-like support from his friend Magic Mamu (Siddharth Jadhav) and his wife Saira (Manasi Naik).

Review: Parents are always expected to work hard to present a better or a comfortable life to their children. But how acceptable is when children take up the responsibility to better the lives of their parents? Such an unusual yet interesting question is explored in Sudesh Manjrekar’s Kutumb. The characters and some of the events surely succeed in moving the audience but due to the writing and execution (in some parts), the film turns out to be just a one-time watch.

During the initial moments, the writers and the director use the visual medium very intelligently. The nature of the four characters, the love between them, their problems and their everyday life is described without much use of dialogues. And once Siddharth Jadhav’s character is introduced, the proceedings get a booster. But there was no need to include two songs without any gap to prove the dancing skills of the two kids. Despite that, the first half manages to lay a decent foundation.

The events that follow are appealing alright. But now the film starts treading on predictable lines. An over-emotional scene (not possible to reveal more), involving one of the main characters, appears silly. But what hurts the most is how the audience is made to watch a dance reality show for a long duration later on. The pre-climax and the climax should have been framed in a way that it gets the audience rooting for the kids.

A very interesting fact is observed in a number of Mahesh Manjrekar’s films including Kutumb. The main protagonist receives tremendous help from a supporting character who is Muslim by religion. Apart from Kutumb (where Jadhav plays Joshi’s friend), this is seen in his earlier films Kurukshetra, Viruddh, Vaah! Life Ho To Aisi!, Mee Shivajiraje Bhosale Boltoy and Shikshanachya Aaicha Gho. Co-incidentally, in three of the six films mentioned, Jadhav has played the concerned character.

Technical aspects like cinematography (Ajith Reddy) and background score can be included in the plus points. The editing is fine but it should have been tighter during the dance reality show scenes. Ajit-Sameer and Abhijit Kawthalkar’s music suits the film. Dialogues (Pravin Tarde) are effective and moving.

The performance area is the biggest plus point. Jitendra Joshi is brilliant as he pours his heart out while playing a caring father and husband. He is on a roll this year. Vena Janmkar too gets into the skin of her character with perfection and presents a realistic act. Gauri Ingawale and Mihir Soni deserve huge applause for not only giving mature performances but also showing some terrific dancing skills.

Siddharth Jadhav presents a lovable act. Manasi Naik is likable too. Vaibhav Mangale plays the bad guy well while Bhalchandra Kadam, his sidekick, is not bad either.

Overall, Kutumb can be seen once if you prefer emotional family dramas. The film will need positive word-of-mouth to succeed at the box-office. It will face opposition from next week’s awaited No Entry Pudhe Dhoka Aahey.

production values and all are amazing, as expected. the two actresses playing the moms are the best. the fathers are that special desi dad brand of benevolently annoying. the leads have zeroooooooooooo personality and appeal for me though. they’re just too bland and boring (like, that ~*SPARK*~ shweta tiwari had???? sorely missing.) too early to tell about chemistry right now, but they both really need to work on their dialogue delivery, because my god, it’s truly the worst (esp. erica’s.) the only draw of this show for me personally is mohini and komolika’s bitchery, and that isn’t a good enough reason for me to watch it regularly and put up with the rest of these characters. like i’ve said before, maybe someone who hasn’t watched the original would enjoy this, but i’m mostly meh. i’ll keep up with updates and like, check in and watch an ep or two occasionally but overall, naaah.
