Azalea finally has a design!

I inspired her off of 80s popstars like Cyndi Lauper! Originally I was gonna go with a 60s theme based off the genre of “sunshine pop”, but it wasn’t sticking. And as of now, her voice claim is Carly Rae Jepsen!

Azalea, despite her being Poppy’s best friend and part of the Snack Pack, is relatively shy! She’s more on the soft spoken side and keeps to herself for the most part, even if she’s with the group. She’s closest with Poppy and Branch, as she feels like she can be her complete self around them!

She can be a bit spacey at times, zoning out and getting distracted easily, but she’s a loyal friend and is always looking out for those she cares about. She also gets overwhelmed easily, and when that happens she tends to clam up and hide if possible. Usually it’ll be behind Poppy, Branch is another option if she isn’t around.

In the first movie, she’s one of the trolls that gets taken by the chef. In the second movie, she’s with the snack pack when they hide from Queen Barb and go off to rescue Poppy at the end. She isn’t really present in the third movie but her story picks up after the events of it!

And like Poppy, she is also a big BroZone fan! They often spent time singing and dancing along to their music, even if by that time the band was broken up and no one knew what happened to each of the brothers. So when she finds out those are Branch’s brothers, she gets a little overwhelmed meeting them (she missed JD crashing the wedding for some reason I have not decided yet), but eventually she opens up to them and becomes close with them too! Especially considering she catches Bruce’s eye.

Well ok less like a band and more of general. Performance group. I saw someone mention one time that they hced that Bruce used to do drag and it has NOT left my brain so Bruce drag group baby!!

I imagine he performed with them sometime before meeting Brandy, and it sort of reintroduced him to enjoying performing again after a dry spell post BZ breakup. Gets more confident in performing again without having to keep up the chiseled heartthrob boyband persona anymore or something.

And my designs for his old group!! Around his age currently in the ref. They definitely had different styles when they all first met but I’ve already drawn far too much for this post good lird.

They parted on decent terms but i think it was a little shaky on account of. Idk. Something something im thinking of parallels between sugar and JD leadership wise but thats not important. But they meet back up again later and i think theyre all on very good terms currently :o]

Ok and finally the whole reason i even started this in the first place to draw that funny guy in a dress. They (affectionately) rope him back into performing with them when they visit Vacay Island and he updates his old look for the hell of it. Very Dionysus coded.

After rewatching Trolls World Tour, I just realized the relevance of the high five at the start of Trolls Band Together <3

It means they have a strong connection!

On the second movie he failed to talk with Poppy about their relationship and then she called him a friend. He got so caught up on that, that they failed to make a connection and having a good high five.

Failing miserably.

Anyways I've been thinking more about Azalea and her habits as the "shy" one. She's basically an introvert who got adopted by a group of extroverts and just went along with it.

I'm still very much thinking of things to develop her (as well as her backstory) so this isn't complete At All, as I'm still figuring stuff out.

Azalea is known to be the Shy One

She doesn't speak up as much, and only sings with groups (until later on, I'm gonna have a whole thing where Poppy encourages her to sing solo)

If she can't hide behind someone, she WILL hide in her hair. Good luck trying to get her out if you aren't Poppy or Branch.

Compared to the rest of the snack pack, she's very reserved. She isn't as loud or intense as they are, still loves her music, singing and dancing, and glitter though. Lots and lots of friggin' glitter.

She's actually the same age as Branch, and after Poppy is the one he grows closest too. Especially because she actually listens to him about his concerns/respects his boundaries and whatnot. Is also the first troll to find out he's in love with Poppy.

As for backstory? Have no idea what it's gonna be. Playing around with the idea that her parents might have tried to abandon her in order to save their own asses during the escape from Bergen Town and was taken in by another troll that she would consider an aunt or uncle

And still deciding how she becomes friends with Poppy and the rest of the snack pack. Poppy probably notices Azalea is always by herself and makes it her mission to befriend her?

If I decide to draw lil' tails on the trolls which. Tbh I might bc it's fucking adorable, she'd be holding and fidgeting with it a lot

When she's extremely overwhelmed, she only responds with squeaks or other noises because she can't come up with any actual words. If it's too much for her to simply hide behind Poppy or Branch, or in her hair, she WILL run away. And again. Good luck trying to find her.

So. Her first time meeting JD, Bruce, Clay and Floyd goes south very quickly bc she's way too overwhelmed meeting the members of her favorite band.

That being said, her and Floyd end up becoming very close friends once she warms up to him! And he helps her warm up to the others too.

Viva scared her a bit at first too, but she took it down a notch after Poppy warned her about Azalea's shyness. The three of them have girls nights with Bridget. Lots of hair braiding and singing.

Still gotta work on her dynamic with Bruce, but it's gonna be adorable as all hell, and one of my friends is actively shipping with Brandi now so that's gonna be a fun lil' thing to include in my story hehe
