Why BelialVamdemon was the final enemy:

As many people know i do not like Vamdemon as the final enemy in 02, though i started to understand the said decision in some recent rewatches.

Short answer: it's because of Daisuke's backstory. Vamdemon is Daisuke's nemesis.

Long answer: It's a bit more complicated than you think.

Many people love to claim Daisuke had no development in 02, or that his development is limited… But as my friend Shiha had written before in her 02 metas, 02's development is not by individuals and yes by relationships. Which means you only realize Daisuke's growth by watching how he interacts with the kids.

As for the statement of "wanting Daisuke to not change" -- this does not mean no progress, but rather his personality would still be the same. He does change through 02 and 02 material, and if you try to claim he didn't, please rewatch the series with caution.

Anyway, one of the three peaks of Daisuke's character arc in 02 material is ep 49-50 -- in which we learn the enemy is Vamdemon and the kids have to fight him in order to save everyone. While the others seem to lose their hopes, Daisuke keeps in front of them and also does not force the others to fight (Daisuke tells Ken the jogress won't work if he loses his nerve, on ep 48.) so yeah this seems like a single solo battle against the final enemy.

As Daisuke and XV-mon gain strength to fight Vamdemon, and Daisuke notices his whole optimism and faith in themselves is turning XV-mon's attacks stronger… Well, this is where Daisuke learns the gist of that bizarre place.

But what does this have to do with Vamdemon, you may ask. Well, it's related to a certain track released in 2003, in which reveals more details of the digimon event Daisuke was involved before becoming a Chosen Child:

If you wear goggles… do you become strong?

Not really… but when I wear them, I guess it’s like, my feelings become stronger…

I…want to be stronger.

Eh?

I want to become stronger and protect my sister, my Mom, and my Dad! I want to beat the bad guys!

“Bad guys”…?

Like… the light, white ones, or the big, scary ones! The black bad guys that are hidden in the shadows!

Are you talking about… Digimon?

They rounded everyone up, and threatened us. Then they made us go to sleep…

That was from… three years ago… when Taichi-san and the others were the first Chosen Ones. Vamdemon was attacking Odaiba back then. I was captured along with my dad and the others…

I wasn’t enough to stop them myself. But… I saw him. A person wearing goggles and riding something that looked like a huge dinosaur! I saw him beat the bad guys!

You saw that? I… by the time I woke up, it was already dark. But you’re right. In that night sky—

These big, shadowy, bad guys were all spread out across the sky! But the person wearing goggles… and his friends… they combined their powers and defeated them all!

I forgot about that. Yeah, I did see that. Dad, Mom, and Sis don’t really remember much about that time… and I only have faint memories of it myself…

If I have that kind of power, I can protect everyone. With power, I wouldn’t have allowed us to be captured in the first place. I would have stopped the tears!

To sum up this whole dialogue: Daisuke meets with his past self, a very different Daisuke before 02 events. Without audio you might not get it, but it's a whole track with Kiuchi Reiko voicing both present Daisuke and past Daisuke.

Well, this whole dialogue points out a few things: One, Daisuke definitely witnessed Taichi and his group on Aug 3, but possibly did not recognize them for some reason (the novel has Daisuke himself cameoing in the third novel's version of those events, in which Taichi has to distract Daisuke to not see the digimon, and later a scene of Jun comforting Daisuke, being witnessed by Mimi who comments "it must be nice to have a sibling")

Two, Daisuke wanted to protect the others. He complains about not being strong enough to protect his own family and the victims of Vamdemon's invasion. So Daisuke from 1999 was seeking for a way to become stronger in order to protect his family.

And what is what Daisuke says when everyone breaks their illusions? Ah yes, "I need to get stronger" huh?

So, okay, now we know all of this... I can finally go straight to the point: Vamdemon is the only digimon enemy suitable for Daisuke's character arc closure. It starts with Adv's Tokyo arc setting, and ends in 02 48-50. As many people would love, say, Daemon or Millenniummon as the final enemy... We have to at least realize those wouldn't have a strong impact on Daisuke's character and his message in ep 49-50.

Because... I don't think if this was planned since 02 got greeenlighted at the end of Tokyo arc but, what's cooler than having one of the kidnapped kids from Vamdemon's invasion be the one to beat Vamdemon alongside his friends and the whole Chosen Children network, including the girl who witnessed Wizarmon die for her and Tailmon? And also with the power of the Dark Seed kids, the recent victims of Vamdemon, who got their power of dream and made them true restored by those six kids?

Really, at least i can see the meaning behind this.

Jun Seba (Japanese: 瀬葉 淳, Hepburn: Seba Jun, February 7, 1974 – February 26, 2010), better known by his stage name Nujabes (ヌジャベス, Nujabesu), was a Japanese record producer, audio engineer, DJ, composer and arranger best known for his atmospheric instrumental mixes sampling from hip hop, soul, and jazz, as well as incorporating elements of trip-hop, breakbeat, downtempo, and ambient music.

Seba adopted the stage name Nujabes (his name spelled backwards) and became notable for his approach to producing hip hop beats, often blending jazz influences into his songs creating a mellow, nostalgic, and atmospheric sound. He is considered a pioneer of lo-fi hip hop, or "chillhop". Seba collaborated with Japanese artists like Uyama Hiroto, Shing02, L-Universe, and Minmi, and with various underground American hip-hop acts such as CYNE, Cise Starr (as a solo apart from the hip-hop collective CYNE), Apani B, Five Deez, Substantial, CL Smooth, Fat Jon, Terry Callier as well as British rapper Funky DL. Seba was also a member of the production duo Urbanforest, an experimental collaboration with Nao T. Seba collaborated with Shing02 on the critically acclaimed Luv(sic) hexalogy, making the parts 1-3 together, but after Seba died unexpectedly many doubted that the series could ever be completed. However, parts 4 and 5 had already been completed, which were released shortly after Seba's death. Part 6 was not among the previously completed tracks, but it was released on February 26, 2013, on the third anniversary of Seba's death. According to Shing02's official Facebook page, the instrumental to what would eventually be part 6 was discovered on Seba's cell phone a few weeks after his death.

Seba was one of the most prolific contributors to the soundtrack of the critically acclaimed anime series Samurai Champloo, which blends a feudal Japanese setting with modern anachronisms, especially in regard to hip hop culture such as graffiti and rapping.

"The same heart as always" Shinhwa WDJ, first concert filled with sincerity and passion

With sincerity and passion, they filled the empty seats of the rest of the members. It is the story of the unit Shinhwa WDJ (Lee Min-woo, Kim Dong-wan, Jun Jin) of the group Shinhwa (Eric, Lee Min-woo, Kim Dong-wan, Shin Hye-seong, Jun Jin, Andy) who made special memories with 'Shinhwa Changjo' (fandom name) with their first solo concert.

Shinhwa WDJ is the first unit of Shinhwa, the long-lived K-pop idol group. Lee Min-woo, Kim Dong-wan, and Jun Jin took on a bold challenge after 24 years of debut under the judgment that 'the team's hiatus should not be prolonged any longer', and released their first album 'Come To Life' at the beginning of last month. . The solo concert held last weekend at Jamsil Indoor Gymnasium in Seoul is the highlight of their first album activity.

South Korea's KF-21 Boramae fighter successfully conducted its first flight test on Tuesday, about 6 and a half years after the start of its gigantic development project, despite skepticism about technological obstacles, cost-benefit and other feasibility issues.

In the 3rd Flight Training Wing of the Air Force in Sacheon, about 300 kilometers south of Seoul, the plane took off, signaling that South Korea is on its way to join an elite club from seven countries that have developed supersonic fighters locally.

The test flight was conducted by Major General Ahn Jun Hyun, a test pilot of the 52nd Test Evaluation Unit of the South Korean Air Force.

The inaugural flight of the $6.67 billion project occurred when the country has been pushing to replace its aged fleet of F-4 and F-5 fighters with the state-of-the-art jet and strengthen its air power to combat North Korea's attacks with evolving nuclear and missile threats.

"This is the time when South Korea's capabilities to develop 4.5-generation high-tech fighter have materialized with this first flight," the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA) said in a press release.

“As we approach the successful development of national fighter, this symbolizes a new leap in domestic aviation technology and a rise of high-tech military forces,” he added.

The KF-21 took off at 3:40 p.m. and landed at 4:13 p.m. for the first air test, according to DAPA.

Authorities initially planned to perform the test in the morning, but delayed it by several hours due to weather conditions.

South Korea imagined the jet development project for the first time in November 2000, when then-President Kim Dae-jung revealed the country's hope of becoming an advanced fighter manufacturer by 2015 at a launch ceremony of the national KT-1 training aircraft.

The project took a small step in November 2002, when the Joint Chiefs of Staff made a long-term plan to develop a state-of-the-art fighter whose capabilities go beyond KF-16 fighter and deliver about 120 units.

But skepticism was still rampant. The two state agencies - the Korean Institute of Defense Analysis and the Korean Development Institute - concluded in their separate analyses in 2003 and 2007, respectively, that the project was not viable.

However, the project gained much-needed momentum in 2009, when another study commissioned by the government by Konkuk University concluded that the fighter development scheme was economically viable.

The government then proceeded with an initial research process from 2011-2012 and decided in 2013 on a detailed plan for the fighter project, including the necessary operational capabilities and the target deployment period.

Despite technological uncertainties, DAPA has signed a fighter development contract with Korea Aerospace Industries Ltd. (KAI), the only aircraft manufacturer in the country, in December 2015.

The generation 4.5 fighter will be equipped with air-to-air missiles, such as the AIM-2000 from the German Diehl and the Meteor from the European MBDA.

So far, five prototypes of the KF-21 have been released for testing purposes, with the sixth scheduled for this month. The prototypes are scheduled to carry out 2,000 missions combined or more to complete the general development of the fighter by 2026.

In addition to these test procedures, the KF-21 project faces other obstacles, such as Indonesia's late payments. From 2026 to 2028, KAI plans to manufacture the initial units of the KF 21 Block I.

Scientists have created a life-threatening virus that closely resembles the 1918 Spanish flu strain that killed an estimated 50m people in an experiment labelled as "crazy" by opponents.

US researchers said the experiments were crucial for understanding the public health risk posed by viruses currently circulating in wild birds, but critics condemned the studies as dangerous and called on funders to stop the work.

Scientists at the University of Wisconsin-Madison used a technique called reverse genetics to build the virus from fragments of wild bird flu strains. They then mutated the virus to make it airborne to spread more easily from one animal to another.

"The work they are doing is absolutely crazy. The whole thing is exceedingly dangerous," said [Lord May][2], the former president of the Royal Society and one time chief science adviser to the UK government. "Yes, there is a danger, but it's not arising form the viruses out there in the animals, it's arising from the labs of grossly ambitious people."

Influenza viruses circulate freely in wild bird populations. Most remain in chickens, ducks and other birds, but occasionally strains mutate into a form that can infect humans. The H5N1 bird flu strain has killed at least 386 people since 2003, according to WHO figures. The Spanish 1918 flu is thought to have come from birds too.

Writing in the journal [Cell Host and Microbe][3] Yoshihiro Kawaoka describes how his team analysed various bird flu viruses and found genes from several strains that were very similar to those that made up the 1918 human flu virus. They combined the bird flu genes into a single new virus, making a new pathogen that was only about 3% different from the 1918 human virus.

The freshly made virus – the first of several the team created – was more harmful to mice and ferrets than normal bird flu viruses, but not as dangerous as the 1918 strain. It did not spread between ferrets and none of the animals died. But the scientists went on to mutate the virus, to see what changes could make it spread. Seven mutations later, they had a more dangerous version that spread easily from animal to animal in tiny water droplets, the same way flu spreads in humans.

[Kawaoka][4], who led the research in a high-security lab at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, said the work highlighted how flu viruses found in wild bird populations had the potential to adapt to humans and cause a pandemic.

Follow-up experiments showed that the 2009 swine flu vaccine and the anti-viral drug tamiflu should be effective against the virus. "This is important information for those making decisions about surveillance and pandemic preparedness," Kawaoka told the Guardian.

The work is the latest in a series of controversial studies that have split the scientific community. On the one side are researchers who create dangerous viruses in secure labs in the hope of learning how existing strains could mutate to make them a potential threat to humans. On the other are scientists who argue the work does little or nothing to help protect people, but instead puts the global population in more danger.

[Marc Lipsitch][5], professor of epidemiology at Harvard School of Public Health, said: "I am worried that this signals a growing trend to make transmissible novel viruses willy-nilly, without strong public health rationale. This is a risky activity, even in the safest labs. Scientists should not take such risks without strong evidence that the work could save lives, which this paper does not provide," he added.

In [an article][6] published last month, Lipsitch argued that experiments like Kawaoka's could unleash a catastrophic pandemic if a virus escaped or was intentionally released from a high-security laboratory.

But Kawaoka defended the work, saying that critics failed to appreciate the impact of his and others' work on dangerous viruses. "There were discussions on the usefulness of stockpiling H5N1 [bird flu] vaccines until our H5N1 papers were published. Similarly, this paper strongly supports stockpiling anti-influenza drugs. If this is not a 'lifesaving benefit', what is?" he said.

Many of the groups that create dangerous viruses to understand their workings are funded by the US National Institutes of Health (NIH). Lord May said he suspected the NIH supported the work because officials there were "incompetent" and believed the justifications that scientists told them. "This is work that shouldn't be done. It's as simple as that," he said.

The experiments show that a 1918-like flu virus could emerge in the wild as bird viruses swap genes and mutate. "Influenza viruses readily swap genes to generate new viruses, so something like this could happen, especially since many of these viruses have circulated in recent years," Kawaoka said. The viruses "have the potential to become adapted to mammals and possibly cause a human pandemic," he added.

The study identifies particular mutations that made the virus spread so easily. But that is not much use for surveillance, said Lipsitch, because there are scores of other mutations that could have the same effect. "The chance that a virus very similar to the one they study will appear in nature is extremely remote," he said. Kawaoka argues that his team is fully aware of this, and that the underlying mechanisms that make the virus so dangerous are more important for preventing future pandemics.

[Simon Wain-Hobson][7], a virologist at the Pasteur Institute in Paris, said he feared that governments and funding bodies would only take the risks seriously once an accident had happened. "It's madness, folly. It shows profound lack of respect for the collective decision-making process we've always shown in fighting infections. If society, the intelligent layperson, understood what was going on, they would say 'What the F are you doing?'"

Carole Heilman, director of microbiology and infectious diseases at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (Niaid) in the US, said: "This study was conducted as part of a research project on understanding the molecular mechanisms of virulence of the 1918 influenza virus. NIH peer review determined that the research was scientifically meritorious. It was also determined that the information gained had the potential to help public health agencies in their assessment of circulating and newly emerging strains. In addition, NIH determined that all the research was being done under appropriate biosafety conditions and with appropriate risk mitigation measures."

I have an onboard 'Realtek RTL8139/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC' and I cannot connect two computers together, I get the 'Network Cable Unplugged' error 100% of the time. Driver Date: 25/02/2008 Driver Version: 5.687.225.2008 Device Status: This device is working properly. Location: PCI bus 2, device 5, function 0 (This seems weird considering I do not have any cards plugged into the PCI slot 2 and it's onboard anyway.) I've looked at device manager, no errors, i've checked the cable between the computer im trying to connect to and another computer and it connected them fine. I've checked settings, they all seem pretty fine. 'Although it's stated only to work upto XP and is not available/supporterd on the HP site, it works on Windows 7.

You do have to set the IP adress manually first, and than startup the computer again and than you can set the IP adress to automatic.'

'Makes all the software for this scanner work great. My scanner may be old because I get strange vertical white bands across the scanner. More of a problem with photos. Hardly ever scan photos so never paid any attention before.'
