SEVENTEEN’s SUNNIE Confirmed To Star In Chinese Thriller Drama
Apr 11, 2024 by Anna Xu
SEVENTEEN’s SUNNIE will return to acting!
On April 11, Chinese news sources reported that SUNNIE will be starring in the upcoming iQIYI series ‘A-LIST’ as Zhu Fen Mei, an aspiring singer who finds herself realizing she’ll do anything for a taste of fame, including sabotaging her competition.
Later the same day, a PLEDIS Entertainment employee confirmed the report by announcing, ‘SUNNIE will be starring in ‘A-List.’
The show will focus on the rivalry between Zhu Fen Mei and An Su Yin, a famous singer who stole Fen Mei’s chance of becoming famous. An Su Yin is reportedly played by famous Chinese actress Qin Dai Yu.
Sunnie began her acting career with “Train To Busan” in 2016 and appeared in Netflix kdrama’s “Squid Game” and “All of Us Are Dead” as side characters, making A-List her first lead role.
Stay tuned for updates!

best cdramas I’ve watched since the last one of these posts in 2022 (and some I’m still looking forward to seeing)
Heroes (watch on WeTV VIP | watch on bilibili) Adapted from the novel "Shuo Ying Xiong Shei Shi Ying Xiong" (说英雄谁是英雄) by Wen Rui An (温瑞安) starring Zeng ShunXi, Yang ChaoYue, Liu YuNing, Baron Chen and Meng ZiYi. I would’ve watched this thing for the cast only. Everyone is queer vibes. Not a flashy drama, but will emotionally shred you. The character development is totally worth it. Throughly entertaining, even when it punched you in the gut. 8/10
The Wind Blows From LongXi (watch on iQIYI VIP | watch on Viki) Adapted from novel "The Wind Rises in Longxi" (风起陇西) by Ma Bo Yong (马伯庸) starring Chen Kun and Bai Yu. I’ve been waiting for this drama for two years and it was worth every second of the wait. The cinematography in this thing is bonkers. The use of light and shadows, the muted colors, the indoor shots opening up into well-lit courtyards, the gritty sound mixing, the whole thing just blew my ass away. Chen Kun and Bai Yu are masters of their art. Fckn masterpiece. 11/10
Who Rules The World (watch on WeTV VIP | watch on Netflix) Adapted from the novel "Qie Shi Tian Xia" (且试天下) by Qing Ling Yue (倾泠月) starring Yang Yang, Zhao LuSi, and Xuan Lu. One of the rare romance dramas that really appealed to me. A well-balanced mix of court intrigue and martial world heroics. Unlimited blorbo potential. It’s hard to outshine Yang Yang (who gives major Mei Changsu vibes through like the first third of the drama) but Zhao LuSi and Xuan Lu together? Magnificent. Breathtaking. Brilliant. 8/10
The Legend of Hao Lan (watch on iQIYI VIP | watch on Viki | watch on tubi) starring Wu Jinyan and Nie Yuan. So this was like, The Story of Yanxi Palace cast, remixed. Was it great? Not really. Did I watch every episode? Yeah. I honestly think that Wu Jinyan could just make faces for 50+ sixty minute episodes, and I’d still watch every minute of it. Still, a fascinating take on the Warring States Period, and actually based on a woman who helped her son become the King of Qin, then ultimately the First Emperor of China. I think 99% of the budget went to costumes, and tbh, it was totally worth every penny. 7/10
(yeah, after all this, I rewatched Nirvana In Fire again)
The Silent Criminal (watch on Apple TV | watch on Bilibili | watch on iQIYI VIP | watch on Viki) starring Li Jiaming and Wen Sheng. So incredibly gay. Hilarious, yes, but predominantly gay. Murder, intrigue, suspense, pining; this little drama literally has everything. Did it impact my life and leave a long-lasting impression? Not really. But I was most throughly entertained. 7/10
My Heroic Husband (watch on Amazon Prime | watch on iQIYI VIP | watch on Viki) Adapted from the novel "Zhui Xu" (赘婿) by Fen Nu de Xiang Jiao (愤怒的香蕉). Starring Song Yi and Guo Qilin. Actually, the majority of Joy of Life cast is in this drama, including a cameo by Zhang Ruoyun in the very beginning. Cast aside tho, I fckn love this drama to pieces. Song Yi and Guo Qilin have amazing chemistry, and they’re so goddamn adorable together I can’t even stand it. The plot is far from complex but immensely satisfying. Excellent drama on a mediocre budget, one I plan to regularly rewatch. 8/10
Still waiting on:
Immortality - based on danmei novel The Husky and His White Cat Shizun by 肉包不吃肉 starring Chen Feiyu and Luo Yunxi (you can think I’m a clown but you’d be wrong bc I’m a wholeass circus)
Winner Is King - based on the danmei novel Sha Po Lang by Priest starring Tan Jianci and Chen Zheyuan
Step By Step Lotus - based on historical novel Return to Ming Dynasty as Prince by 月关 starring Zhang Binbin and Luo Yunxi
Eternal Faith - based on danmei novel Heaven Official’s Blessing by Mo Xiang Tong Xiu starring Zhai Xiaowen and Zhang Linghe
Joy Of Life Season 2 - based on wuxia novel of the same name by 猫腻 starring Zhang Ruoyun and Li Qin
A League of Nobleman - based on danmei novel The Society of Four Leaves by Da Feng Gua Guo starring Song Weilong and Jing Boran
Flying Phoenix - based on danmei novel of the same name by 風弄 starring Dai Jingyao and Shu Yaxin
The Story of the Bat - based on danmei novel Bat by Feng Nong starring Mao Zijun and Zhang Yao
The Longest Promise - based on xianxia novel Zhu Yan by 沧月 starring Xiao Zhan, Ren Min, and Zhang Yunlong
Song of The Moon - based on wuxia novel 奔月 by 蜀客 starring Zhang Binbin and Xu Lu
Story of Kunning Palace - based on the the web novel 坤宁 by Shi Jing starring Bai Lu and Zhang Linghe
Under the Microscope - based on the novel 显微镜下的大明 by 马伯庸 starring Zhang Ruoyun and Qi Wei
Till the End of the Moon - based on the web novel 黑月光拿稳BE剧本 by Teng Luo Wei Zhi starring Luo Yunxi and Bai Lu

LMK headcanons AU Part Two
º Macaque is a lot laid back in this AU. His issues with Wukong are resolved so he's not as serious as he was in the Canon.
º Akame has a great sense of sight, her sight compares to that of Kanao Tsuyuri, she has three eyes that allow her to see better although most of the time she uses her glamor to hide her third eye.
º Yun is an exact copy of Macaque physically, only they are NOTHING alike in personality, rather her personality is more like her slime, although she is much more upright and disciplined, but that doesn't stop her from having fun.
º Yun and Macaque are not that close but at least Macaque tries to redeem himself by approaching her calmly and also takes some advice from Wukong about her daughter.
º Macaque meets a guy named Qin, who is a scientist who carried out experiments on humans, but is watched by a girl named Lian .
º It could be said that Macaque was part of one or another of Qin's experiments, only that unlike his other colleagues, he simply decided in which experiment he could participate.
º Fen has the great ability to be able to see the flow of Chi and energy of his opponent, his ability is called Yeux blancs, he can also block them with his battle style.
º Akame has an indestructible pink and white whip. She is a doctor but that doesn't mean she doesn't have something besides her sight style, she also has several psychic powers.
º Wukong and Macaque suffer from an allergy to peach (Macaque) and plum (Wukong) flowers. This allergy consists of uncontrollable powers and some sneezing of energy.

Memories
I pour tea for our guest, a general from the West, and when we are alone he grabs me, bites my neck, and leaves me crumpled on the chair to die while he calls for guards to find my assailant. | During my travels I encounter Sun Yating once more, he proposes a duel in exchange for my forgiveness but I give him the candy in my bag in exchange instead; laughing, he hands me a letter that he says will get me out of any unpleasant situations.
I spend my evenings and mornings playing my guqin, plucking my strings in time to the bubble of the creek near my abode, soothing my hunger with the sound of the strings. | A young woman greets me one morning as I play, she claims she is thirsty and when I see the grey pallor of her skin - so similar to mine - I offer her the swaddled infant on my table and she calls me a monster. | The infant, who I have named Bo, I have kept alive and hidden from the village - perhaps once out of bitterness, but now out of love; they have become precious to me indeed.
Cui Jiao comes to me years later, desperate and no longer the delicate woman she once was, thin with ragged clothes and matted hair, thirsty once more, but this time for blood instead of tea; I take her inside when she falls at my feet and put away the few belongings she has - including a small wooden jewellery box I don't dare open. | Cui Jiao and I live as sisters, and I adopt the name Cui Xiuying to keep up this ruse. | Raids and skirmishes sweep through the land, destroying all they touch, and so we retreat further into the wilderness of the mountains.
A weaver and her husband come to take Bo from me, and even as he claws and cries for me to do something, I don't.
I was born in a time of peace and prosperity along the riverbank, but the mountain town's market is full of merchants whispering about corruption and skirmishes between the kingdoms; even after 200 years of life this worries me, for I have no knowledge of war. | The sun comes out while I am still looking for my next meal, I duck in a tea shop and am served by a child who recounts to me tales of their misadventures in return for sweets and tales of mine; though I go home with my belly empty, my heart is full. | Mo Hua does not know me for what I am and protests when the villagers whisper about my aversion to sunlight and their missing travellers; his avid defence turns their eyes to him - I cry for the first time in a long time when I find him on the side of the road.
Diary
I am Yin YiJun, the second daughter of my parents, and I am enjoying peaceful days before my father finds me a husband. | A man who came seeking my hand is met with my fangs, and though my skirts enshroud his figure a servant sees him and calls for the soldiers; Zhao Fen helps me flee. | As years pass my body grows stronger, muscles that were once built for housework and mundane chores suddenly remembering the movement of the Jian, though I have never owned one.
Characters
Sun Yating - The immortal vampire who turned me. He lives by day as an accomplished general from the West.
Qin Da - The immortal Provincial Governor, he stole my pearwood scissors and has lived numerous lives under numerous names.
Cui Jiao - A righteous immortal woman who refused my help.
Bo - The mortal child I have hidden away.
Weaver - The woman I resent for stealing Bo away.
The Weaver's Husband - A strong yet weak-willed man.
Mo Hua - A child I befriended while seeking refuge from the sun.
Duan Bai - The mortal woman who taught me midwifery.
Yin He - My father, the magistrate of a small county. He is kind but gullible, and his wards suffer for it.
Wu Yawen - My father's second wife. Sweet but docile.
Zhao Fen - A childhood friend and neighbour.
Yin YiJun
Skills
Deception, Part of the Rumour Mill, Immortal's Patience, An Ear for Music, Knowledge of Imperial Affairs, Privy to Secret Records, Midwifery, The Art of the Sword,
Resources
Mysterious Jewellery Box, Hut on the Mountainside (Stationary), Letter from the General, Diary - Worn Bamboo Scrolls, Decorated Guqin, Hut on the Mountainside (Stationary), Wrapped candy, Enchanted Pearwood Scissors
Marks
A large chunk of my neck is missing and will not heal; I must wear high collars and bandages to hide the bleeding.
My skin is frighteningly pale, and grey like ash; white powder and red makeup hide this on my face, but I make sure to keep my hands tucked into my sleeves in public.

Your Subject Zan says: “In the Transmittals of the Spring and Autumn, the people of the Di狄 invaded Xing邢, and Xing邢 shifted to Yiyi夷儀, they did not arrive here. Presently, west of Xiangguo襄國 there is a Yiyi City夷儀城, the distance to Xiangguo襄國 a hundred li. The xing here is the name of this hill [qiu丘], it is not the state.
Shigu says: “Ying's explanation is mistaken. When the Transmittals of Mister Zuo says: “The Marquis of Jin sent off a woman to Xingqiu邢丘,” it perhaps speaks of this, and that is all.
[f]Ying Shao says: “Where Jin first opened up Nanyang南陽 is the present Nanyang City南陽城. Qin changed it to be called Xiuwu脩武.”
Your Subject Zan says: “Book of Han Fei: “King Zhao of Qin went beyond Zhao's趙 Changping長平, and to the west invaded Xiuwu脩武.” At the time Qin had not yet united Under Heaven, but the name of Xiuwu脩武 had been for a long time.”
