Can you imagine that what GOD meant by my cup overfloweth in the presence of my enemies.. it meant HIS joy/comfort will flow freely out to us, as they too drink from it to a much different effect if not Chosen, kind of like Indiana Jones & the Holy Grail even in the movie it was the rich man’s female counterpart who gave him the apple/sinful choice [gold goblet] that led to his demise which was not immediate either..wait for it
He chose poorly.. or wisely to suffer
Not to say any of us can choose wisely in & of our own volition, we can't [Phil 2:13] Psalm 23:5; 45:7; 75:8;  2 Corinthians 2:16
Psalm 23:5 | The LORD Is My Shepherd [Ezekiel 34:11-24; John 10:1-21] ⁵ YOU prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. YOU anoint my head with oil [oil of joy]; my cup overflows.
Psalm 45:7 | ⁷ You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore GOD, your GOD, anointed you above your companions with the oil of joy. Psalm 75:8 | For a cup is in the hand of the LORD — full of foaming #wine mixed w/ spices. HE pours from HIS cup, and all the #wicked of the Earth drink it down to the dregs. But I will proclaim HIM forever; I will sing praise to the GOD of Jacob.
2 Corinthians 2:16 | Triumph in CHRIST ¹⁶ To the one, we are an odor of death and demise; to the other, a fragrance that brings life. And who is qualified for such a task?

Pursue what matters most
In the book of Romans, Paul begs Christians to give their entire lives over to God because God sacrificed everything for them. Jesus gave up His life so that we could experience His unending love and grace. We cheapen His gifts if we refuse to align our lives with the way Jesus lived.
But we give our lives to God by making Him the one thing we pursue above anything else.
So here are 5 steps you can practice—right now—to help you put God first.
Give thanks
“We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks, for your name is near. We recount your wondrous deeds.”
Psalms 75:1 ESV
Right now, take a moment to thank God for what He’s already done for you. Reflect on His faithfulness, and recount the stories you have seen and heard of His wonderful power.
Spend 5 minutes in silence
“Abide in me, and I in you.”
John 15:4 ESV
Abiding in Jesus starts with stillness. So right now, pause, take a deep breath, and give anything concerning you over to God. Spend 5 minutes centering your heart on the One who matters most.
Remember Whose you are
“You are not your own, for you were bought with a price.”
1 Corinthians 6:19-20 ESV
God loves you. The price He paid for you cost Him everything. So remind yourself of Whose you are, and reflect on some of the things God says about you.
Meditate on God’s Word
“Oh how I love your law! It is my meditation all the day.”
Psalms 119:97 ESV
One of the best ways to find out how Jesus wants you to live is by spending time in Scripture. As you do, ask God to speak to you through His Word about what His will is.
Focus on what is excellent
“…If there is any excellence … think about these things.”
Philippians 4:8 ESV
You have been given the mind of Christ. If you’re not sure what you should think about, try asking yourself: What is praiseworthy? What thoughts and actions would honor God?
Make a list of whatever comes to mind, and pursue those things.
By practicing these steps every day, you can create habits that will help you pursue intimacy with God every day, and put Him first above everything else.

Vindicate Me, O LORD
1 [By David.] Judge me, LORD, for I have walked in my integrity. I have trusted also in LORD without wavering.
2 Examine me, LORD, and prove me. Try my heart and my mind.
3 For your loving kindness is before my eyes. I have walked in your truth.
4 I have not sat with deceitful men, neither will I go in with hypocrites.
5 I hate the assembly of evildoers, and will not sit with the wicked.
6 I will wash my hands in innocence, so I will go about your altar, LORD;
7 that I may make the voice of thanksgiving to be heard, and tell of all your wondrous works.
8 LORD, I love the habitation of your house, the place where your glory dwells.
9 Do not gather my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloodthirsty men;
10 in whose hands is wickedness, their right hand is full of bribes.
11 But as for me, I will walk in my integrity. Redeem me, and be merciful to me.
12 My foot stands in an even place. In the congregations I will bless the LORD. — Psalm 26 | New Heart English Bible (NHEB) The New Heart English Bible is in the public domain Cross References: Genesis 20:5; Leviticus 8:6; 1 Samuel 2:29; 2 Kings 20:3; Psalm 1:1; Psalm 7:9; Psalm 9:1; Psalm 15:5; Psalm 22:22; Psalm 27:11; Psalm 28:3; Psalm 31:6; Psalm 37:7; Psalm 44:26; Psalm 48:9; Psalm 59:2; Psalm 69:18; Psalm 75:1; Psalm 86:11; Psalm 139:19; Psalm 139:21; Matthew 23:21; Hebrews 10:23; Revelation 2:23

Holy, loving, faithful, gracious, compassionate, merciful, longsuffering God, is righteous, just and true, and so are all His judgments, in all the earth.
Thus says the Lord God: "I will take also one of the highest branches of the high cedar and set it out. I will crop off from the topmost of its young twigs a tender one, and will plant it on a high and prominent mountain. On the mountain height of Israel I will plant it; and it will bring forth boughs, and bear fruit, and be a majestic cedar. Under it will dwell birds of every sort; in the shadow of its branches they will dwell."
"And all the trees of the field shall know that I, the LORD, have brought down the high tree and exalted the low tree, dried up the green tree and made the dry tree flourish; I, the LORD, have spoken and have done it." (Ezekiel 17:22-24)
"Great and marvelous are Your works, Lord God Almighty! Just and true are Your ways, O King of the saints! Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, for Your judgments have been manifested." (Revelation 15:3-4)

Psalms chapter 75
1 (To the chief Musician, Altaschith, A Psalm or Song of Asaph.) Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.
2 When I shall receive the congregation I will judge uprightly.
3 The earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved: I bear up the pillars of it. Selah.
4 I said unto the fools, Deal not foolishly: and to the wicked, Lift not up the horn:
5 Lift not up your horn on high: speak not with a stiff neck.
6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the west, nor from the south.
7 But God is the judge: he putteth down one, and setteth up another.
8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, and the wine is red; it is full of mixture; and he poureth out of the same: but the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall wring them out, and drink them.
9 But I will declare for ever; I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be exalted.

“You do not know what you are asking,” Jesus replied. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can,” the brothers answered. “You will indeed drink My cup,” Jesus said. “But to sit at My right or left is not Mine to grant. These seats belong to those for whom My Father has prepared them.” When the ten heard about this, they were indignant with the two brothers. But Jesus called them aside and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles Lord it over them, and their superiors exercise authority over them. It shall not be this way among you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant, and whoever wants to be first among you must be your slave— just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.”” Matthew‬ ‭20‬:‭22‬-‭28‬
To drink of a cup, in the Scriptures, often signifies to be afflicted, or to be punished, Matthew 26:39; Isaiah 51:17, Isaiah 51:22; Psalm 73:10; Psalm 75:8; Jeremiah 25:15; Revelation 16:9. The figure is taken from a feast, where the master of a feast extends a cup to those present. Thus God is represented as extending to his Son a cup filled with a bitter mixture - one causing deep sufferings, John 18:11. This was the cup to which he referred.
The baptism that I am baptized with - This is evidently a phrase denoting the same thing. Are ye able to suffer with me - to endure the trials and pains which shall come upon you and me in endeavoring to build up my kingdom? Are you able to bear it when sorrows shall cover you like water, and you shall be sunk beneath calamities as floods, in the work of religion? Afflictions are often expressed by being sunk in the floods and plunged in deep waters, Psalm 69:2; Isaiah 43:2; Psalm 124:4-5; Lamentations 3:54. (Barnes Notes on the Bible)
And he saith unto them, ye shall drink indeed of my cup,.... Not of the selfsame, but of what was like unto it; meaning, that they should endure much persecution for his name's sake, as all that will live godly in Christ Jesus must expect in one shape or another. Thus James, who was one of these persons, was slain with the sword by Herod; John, the other, was imprisoned, and beaten by the order of the Jewish sanhedrim, was banished into the isle of Patmos by Domitian; and, some say, was cast into a cauldron of boiling oil, though saved in it: so that these words seem to be a prophecy of what they should suffer for Christ, instead of enjoying places of worldly honour and profit under him, they were seeking for. (Gill’s Exposition of the Bible)

12th February >> Mass Readings (USA)
Monday, Sixth of Week in Ordinary Time
(Liturgical Colour: Green: B (2))
First Reading James 1:1-11 The testing of your faith produces perseverance so that you may be perfect and complete.
James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes in the dispersion, greetings.
Consider it all joy, my brothers and sisters, when you encounter various trials, for you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. And let perseverance be perfect, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. But if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly, and he will be given it. But he should ask in faith, not doubting, for the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea that is driven and tossed about by the wind. For that person must not suppose that he will receive anything from the Lord, since he is a man of two minds, unstable in all his ways.
The brother in lowly circumstances should take pride in high standing, and the rich one in his lowliness, for he will pass away “like the flower of the field.” For the sun comes up with its scorching heat and dries up the grass, its flower droops, and the beauty of its appearance vanishes. So will the rich person fade away in the midst of his pursuits.
The Word of the Lord
R/ Thanks be to God.
Responsorial Psalm Psalm 119:67, 68, 71, 72, 75, 76
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
Before I was afflicted I went astray, but now I hold to your promise.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
You are good and bountiful; teach me your statutes.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
It is good for me that I have been afflicted, that I may learn your statutes.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
The law of your mouth is to me more precious than thousands of gold and silver pieces.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
I know, O LORD, that your ordinances are just, and in your faithfulness you have afflicted me.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
Let your kindness comfort me according to your promise to your servants.
R/ Be kind to me, Lord, and I shall live.
Gospel Acclamation John 14:6
Alleluia, alleluia. I am the way and the truth and the life, says the Lord; no one comes to the Father except through me. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Mark 8:11-13 Why does this generation seek a sign?
The Pharisees came forward and began to argue with Jesus, seeking from him a sign from heaven to test him. He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.” Then he left them, got into the boat again, and went off to the other shore.
The Gospel of the Lord
R/ Praise to you, Lord Jesus Christ.

“I will take up the cup of salvation, And call upon the name of the Lord.” —Psalms 116:13 (NKJV)
“What can I offer the Lord for all he has done for me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and praise the Lord’s name for saving me. I will keep my promises to the Lord in the presence of all his people” —Psalms 116:13 (NLT)
“What is the cup of salvation in Psalm 116:13?” By Gotquestions.org:
“God’s all-sufficient, amazing grace is the central theme of Psalm 116. Again and again, the Lord helps us in our weakness and saves us when we are powerless to help ourselves (Isaiah 40:29–31; 2 Corinthians 12:9; Philippians 4:13). Recognizing his enormous debt of gratitude, the psalmist asks, “What can I offer the Lord for all he has done for me? I will lift up the cup of salvation and praise the Lord’s name for saving me. I will keep my promises to the Lord in the presence of all his people” (Psalm 116:12–14, NLT).
What was this cup of salvation the psalmist lifted in praise to the Lord? Most likely, it was a symbolic reference to the drink offering prescribed in Leviticus 23:13. At the yearly Feast of Firstfruits, the Israelites were to submit a drink offering of “a quarter of a hin of wine” (about one quart) to God in gratefulness for His salvation and continued provision in the Promised Land. The liquid offering was poured out on the altar, accompanied by other contributions from products of the land. These offerings were given as reminders that the rich fruits of the harvest were all from God and depended on His favor.
Drink offerings were frequently presented in the Bible to thank God for His salvation. After the Lord appeared to Jacob at Bethel and changed his name to Israel, Jacob set up a stone pillar to mark where God had met with him and spoken to him. Then “he poured out a drink offering on it” (Genesis 35:14).
At the ordination of the priests, a drink offering was presented (Exodus 29:38–41). As a test of obedience, God gave additional rules for offerings in Numbers 15, including burnt offerings accompanied by a drink offering (verses 5, 7, 10).
In the New Testament, the apostle Paul compared his sacrificial ministry to an act of worship: “But even if I am being poured out like a drink offering on the sacrifice and service coming from your faith, I am glad and rejoice with all of you” (Philippians 2:17). In the face of death, he told Timothy, “For I am already being poured out like a drink offering, and the time for my departure is near” (2 Timothy 4:6).
The “cup of salvation” is also suggestive of God’s good gifts to humans, which David extolled: “You prepare a feast for me in the presence of my enemies. You honor me by anointing my head with oil. My cup overflows with blessings” (Psalm 23:5, NLT).
The psalmist’s “cup of salvation” is the counterpart to the “cup of wrath,” representing God’s judgment of sin and His wrath reserved for the wicked to drink (Psalm 75:8; Isaiah 51:22; Jeremiah 25:15–16; Ezekiel 23:31–34). This cup of wrath is associated with Jesus Christ’s extreme suffering and death on the cross (Matthew 26:39; Luke 22:42). The Lord’s mention of it in Gethsemane anticipated the excruciating moment when Jesus would cry, “God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). Jesus was about to drink the cup of God’s wrath for us so that we might be spared and saved.
In lifting the cup of salvation, the psalmist offered praise to God for the blessing of His salvation. In the manner of a salute, he raised the cup high and partook of it amid praise and thanksgiving for God’s tremendous and abundantly gracious deliverance. This illustration is an excellent image for believers to contemplate when offering our thanks to God.”

The horn of salvation is mentioned several times in the Bible, but what does this expression mean? What does salvation have to do with a horn?
In the Old Testament, the word horn signifies many things. Of course, one usage of horn was to refer to a pointed bony structure growing out of an animal’s head (Genesis 22:13). Animal horns, used for fighting, protection, and securing dominance, became symbols of strength, power, and victory. Often, Scripture’s mention of a “horn” is as a literary symbol representing potency and power.
For example, in Daniel 7:7 and 24, the ten horns of Daniel’s fourth beast represent ten kings. In Psalm 75:10, God says, “I will cut off the horns of all the wicked, but the horns of the righteous will be lifted up.” In other words, the righteous will prevail, no matter how strong the wicked seem to be. In Jeremiah 48:25, “Moab’s horn is cut off” means that the strength of Moab is gone. The four horns in Zechariah 1:18–19 represent the powerful nations that attacked and scattered Israel.
Animal horns were also used as receptacles for oil (1 Samuel 16:1) or as a shofar trumpet (Joshua 6:5). The prayer in Psalm 92:10 contains both a reference to oil and a figurative use of horn: “You have exalted my horn like that of a wild ox; fine oils have been poured on me.”
In 1 Samuel 2:1 Hannah prays, “In the Lord, my horn is lifted high,” indicating the strength that will come from her having a child. In Luke 1:69 Zechariah praises God that “He has raised up a horn of salvation for us in the house of his servant David.” In this case, the “horn of salvation” is a reference to Jesus Christ, the powerful deliverer and king who was soon to be born.
Another significant instance of the word horn in the Old Testament is in reference to the protrusion at each corner of the altar (Exodus 27:2). In worship, the horns of the altar were dabbed with blood to purify them and make atonement for sin (Leviticus 8:15; 4:6). The horns of the altar speak of the power of God’s salvation. That part of the altar also became a place of refuge and sanctuary for a fugitive (1 Kings 1:50).
We often see the horn in Scripture as a symbol of salvation. Psalm 18:2 says, “The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” In the New Testament, Jesus is the horn of salvation (Luke 1:68–69). Thus, a title applied to Yahweh is also applied to Jesus; they are both called “the horn of salvation.” The very name Jesus means “The Lord Is Salvation.” The salvation Jesus offers is strong, triumphant, and powerful. Just like the horns on the altar offered refuge and atonement, Jesus offers clemency and cleansing through His death on the cross. However strong our spiritual foe, the horn of our salvation is stronger still.

Judge and Examine me, O Jehovah
1 Judge me, O Jehovah; / For I have walked in my integrity, / And in Jehovah I have trusted; / I will not waver.
2 Examine me, O Jehovah, and try me; / Test my inward parts and my heart.
3 For Your lovingkindness is before my eyes, / And I have walked in Your truth.
4 I do not sit with men of falsehood, / Nor will I associate with hypocrites.
5 I hate the assembly of evildoers, / Nor will I sit with the wicked.
6 I wash my hands in innocence / And go around Your altar, O Jehovah,
7 Making myself heard with the voice of thanksgiving / And telling out all Your wonderful deeds.
8 O Jehovah, I love the habitation of Your house, / And the place where Your glory abides.
9 Do not gather my soul with sinners, / Nor my life with men of bloodshed,
10 In whose hand is a wicked scheme, / And whose right hand is full of bribes.
11 But as for me, I walk in my integrity; / Redeem me and be gracious to me.
12 My foot stands on level ground; / In the assemblies I will bless Jehovah. — Psalm 26 | Recovery Version (REC) The Recovery Version of the Holy Bible © 2009 Living Stream Ministry. Heartstrings: Glorious Praise to the God of Heaven and Earth
Praising God from a pure heart, acknowledging Him in all of our ways, is pleasing in His sight. He is God, Creator, and Ruler of all. We have no life apart from Him. The life of every living creature, and the breath of all mankind is in His hand. (See Job 12:10)
He has no pleasure in disloyal hearts. (See 1 Samuel 15:20-23, Isaiah 29:13-14, Ezekiel 33:31-32, and John 4:21-24)
"Let us lift our hearts and hands to God in heaven." (Lamentations 3:41)

"Oh come, let us sing to the Lord! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. For the Lord is the great God, and the great King above all gods. In His hand are the deep places of the earth; the heights of the hills are His also. The sea is His, for He made it; and His hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord our Maker. For He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, and the sheep of His hand." (Psalm 95:1-7)

Meaning delight in the Maat/the connotations of order of the Bible Psalms 75:6
For promotion cometh neither from the east,
nor from the west, nor from the south. 1 Samuel 2:6-8
The LORD killeth, and maketh alive:
he bringeth down to the grave, and bringeth up.
The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich:
he bringeth low, and lifteth up.
He raiseth up the poor out of the dust,
and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill,
to set them among princes,
and to make them inherit the throne of glory:
for the pillars of the earth are the LORD's, and he hath set the world upon them.
