Canadian Lighthouse
This tiny little Island with the lighthouse is just off the coast of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. The landscape in the distance and half of the water is Washington State, USA. You can see the lights of Port Angles, WA at night time from Victoria. Even thought Port Angles is so close to Victoria I have never even been there. I’m sure I’ll get over there on of these days. Thanks for…

Forget emotions, it was also a strategic move for Fukuzawa choosing Yosano to stay in the ADA. Mori’s whole first plan was an immortal regiment using her and a reason why Chuuya isnt pedalled out more often for Arahabaki is bc only Dazai could nullify it from killing Chuuya, which would’nt be needed if Yosano was in the PM.
And again, Fukuzawa cannot protect everybody. Mori wants a member of the ADA and he’s made it clear that he doesnt care about going against Fukuzawa’s demands. This is a lose-lose situation.

Okay so I could be wrong, but I think Harley Quinn was the first one of these big adult animated shows based on what is ostensibly an "all-ages" franchise. Like Batman can be dark and edgy and broody, but he's also a comic book character beloved by children the world over y'know. Batman is equal parts The Brave and the Bold and groundbreaking Alan Moore graphic novel.
Harley Quinn turns that into something where everyone says fuck and there are jokes about blowjobs and fucking and shit, and we got that fiasco about Batman not being allowed to talk about giving head to Catwoman. It was pretty well-received, and it did the whole "adult cartoon" thing without the trappings you might expect from Family Guy or something.
So with that established, imitators followed. Marvel tried the same format with a MODOK show (which they cancelled, possibly to make room for the CGI human head balloon in Quantumania). There was apparently a Deadpool show in the works that would tread similar ground, but it got cancelled. Masters of the Universe got a grittier sequel/reboot series called Revolution that upped the violence and the stakes of the conflict for an adult audience.
More adult spins on all-ages/kid-focused franchises have been coming out ever since Harley Quinn hit it big, and while quality is mixed (people fucking HATED MotU:R, though granted there was a bunch of dumb alt-right horseshit in the backlash, while MODOK was apparently pretty okay), there's been a fairly consistent niche of these sorts of shows since 2019.
So then Velma comes out to universal disdain, being a show that's irreverent to a fault - it throws characterisation out the window for the sake of being snarky. It feels less like a Velma show and more like a show that banks on Velma calling people skanks and incels as the source of its humor, in its reception if not the actual content of the show. From what I've seen, it's considered the nadir of this "adult animated retool" trend compared to Harley Quinn's peak.
Scooby-Doo is a franchise that's owned by Warner Bros.
Batman is also a franchise that's owned by Warner Bros.
How in the flying fuck did the same company get the same trend so right, and then proceed to get it so wrong?

My tablet is dying and I have no idea what to do with myself until the new one gets here. Maybe if I open an empty canvas I can convince myself I'm procrastinating a big project and play games or something.

We’re so used to the sexual reading of the entire book of Dracula, which takes the sensuality of the early chapters and jams everything that follows it into the same metaphor no matter how poorly it fits, but I feel the segment we’re approaching works much better with a lens of chronic illness and disease.
Vampire legends are inextricably intertwined with disease. Many of them are said to have been birthed by burying victims of disease too soon, who later seem to rise from the dead. But what’s more is that Stoker and his family have deep-seated trauma over disease: his mother had to flee her hometown at the age of 14 because of a horrific cholera epidemic, and Stoker himself was bedridden as a child from an illness that no one could identify.
Found this quote from Irish Historian Mary McGarry:
Bram as an adult asked his mother to write down her memories of the epidemic for him, and he supplemented this using his own historic research of Sligo’s epidemic. Scratching beneath the surface (of this essay), I found parallels with Dracula. [For instance,] Charlotte says cholera enters port towns having traveled by ship, and can travel overland as a mist—just like Dracula, who infects people with his unknown contagion.
I bring this up because a lot of academic analysis insists that Lucy sleepwalking is proof of her being the Slutty Woman archetype that needs to be punished. This suggested symbolism is hilarious when put next to the text saying she inherited it from her father, but I’d like to suggest a different angle from the lens of disease suggested earlier:
Lucy’s sleepwalking is a condition that predates Dracula but makes her an easy target for him to prey on. Through the lens of disease symbolism, she now is someone with chronic illness or disability who is especially vulnerable to infectious disease. This becomes a cross-section of Stoker’s trauma regarding disease: his own mystery illness and his mother fleeing a plague.
To wind down my rambles with a bit of a soapbox, I feel this adds a very poignant layer to the struggle to keep Lucy alive. The COVID pandemic showed a horrifying level of casual ableism vs disabled and immunodeficient individuals, shrugging off their vulnerability and even their deaths with “well COVID only kills them.” There’s something deeply gratifying at seeing the way everyone around Lucy fights to the bitter end to protect her and refuses to just give her up to Dracula, whether it’s Mina physically chasing him away or the suitor squad pouring their blood into her veins or Van Helsing desperately searching for cures. The vulnerable deserve no less than this. They’re not acceptable casualties.

I had an opportunity to test the new Artist Pro 14 (Gen 2) by XPPen!
It comes with a special X-Remote Control pad that you can bind your favorite shortcuts to! I really like that it’s wireless, because it’s possible to use it from any angle and by any hand.
Another great thing about this tablet is that it can be connected with just one cable. When your computer doesn’t have enough ports, such things are super important!

The pen is truly wonderful, it feels very solid and sturdy. It also comes in a beautiful case with two types of tips!
If you’re looking for a compact and very functional screen tablet - this might be a great option for you!

Rechargeable batteries are a bitch.
#really tho. yeah sure they save you from having hoards of dead batteries laying around bc you cant just throw them out#but. at what cost.#now i have DEAD RECHARGEABLE batteries laying around bc after a year or two they won't charge higher than like 20%#and this could prob stretch into that whole iphone battery life thing too#now. this wouldnt be a big deal if they weren't twice the price of regular batteries#yeah sure. they pay for them selves after a few recharges.#somebody needs to invent a better rechargeable battery. one that actually charges to 100% All The Time#but ya know. lithium ion batteries or whatever swell up if not charged properly#ngl i just want to plug things in and even tho theres a cord i'll have unlimited battery without murdering its power source#bc plugging it in and unplugging it can break the charger itself too and then there's another money being spent on a new one of those#THEN the charging port of something could break and you're out another hundred for a new device that FULLY WORKS#except the charging port#which is where my vape is at rn after literally only having it for three months and im mad about it#it doesn't stay charging for more than a few minutes and only at a specific angle#and getting that specific angle took like an hour of putting things in place to keep it at that angle then forcing myself not to touch#i have yet to charge it higher than 50%#at this rate the battery is gonna do the swelling thing and bust the whole system#which is exactly what happened to the old one i replaced not too long ago#and now THAT ONE is the one that WORKS but it's like Ready To Blow#fun thing about that one: it lasted two years.#the lifespan of the newer model is infuriating#people online are like 'yeah that brand lasts like 2 months they suck'#and im here like 'IT LASTED TWO YEARS DUDE. 2 WHOLE ASS YEARS.'#and here i am staring at something that's on its way out after three months and pissed off about it#i didnt spend $50 on this fucker for it to die so soon.#and back to the iphone battery life thing. that whole built to die theory.#yeah. yeah. fuck all that shit#ive got beef with shitty batteries that you can't change and electronics that you can't fix yourself#im ready to pull out some damn pliers and fix things myself BUT NO#there's no clasps or buttons to open things. it's got that specific adhesive and sealed corners to prevent being opened

I’m obsessed with the idea of turning the sensitivity up super high on Android!Ghost‘s dick. Making him all overstimulated and he just doesn’t know what to do bc he’s not used to this!!! He’s just whining and writhing, completely lost on whether to buck up into the feeling or to run away from it!!! Poor baby doesn’t know what to do with himself of where to put his hands :(
(I also love the idea of his systems overheating, but idk if he can do that LOL)
When you were designing the orgasm programs this was a definite concern. Finding the right balance of sensitivity and system wide responses was certainly difficult. There was a lot of testing that went into each iteration. Which meant calling Ghost into the workshop and hooking him up to your computer to run the programs. Just because you haven't hooked up the main component doesn't mean you can't test the software, and the orgasm itself is what you're really worried about.
Of course coming with no build up would be a shock to anyone's system, but especially for an android that hasn't had one in, well, ever. You hook the last of the wires into the back of Ghost's head, careful with each port and line. You press run and watch the screen for system malfunctions, watch the file upload and and fill up as the entire thing warms up.
Then Ghost jolts, chokes, and grabs the edge of the worktable. His back arches and his hips buck, body searching for something it doesn't have the subroutines for, the equipment for. Reflexively he grabs for where his dick would be, if you'd installed the prototype for this test, and when his hand finds open air it squeezes into a tight fist. A low, broken swear drips from Ghost's synthetic vocal cords, something garbled and lost in the translation from thought to speech. You're a little worried the angle of the arch in his back is going to snap the new spinal plate you installed. He's so tight, held taut like a bow being pulled back and back and back.
Warnings flash on your screen. Red levels and bars the fluctuate too high too fast. System overheating. You can see smoke starting to drift from the seams around his neck, and rush to pull the program's plug. A few deft keystrokes and Ghost collapses onto the workbench, his chest heaving as his cooling systems kick into high gear. You rush to unhook the wires and he catches your fingers in one big hand.
"Just gimme a minute," He tries, you can almost make out the sound of breath ghosting over the sound, "then we'll run it again."

I love the town of Port Deposit Maryland. It's all these incredibly old houses build onto levels carved into the side of a mountain overlooking a river and it's not actually "far" from anything else yet there's still a good few miles of little to nothing on all sides making it feel very much like an isolated bubble. I want to say it has never changed, but the residents are constantly building more stuff onto the homes as they deteriorate. They have been doing this since I was a baby, so does that mean it always changes, or does that mean it never changes, because constant change is its natural state?! It's like a bunch of different game assets clipping through each other, assembled by someone with a rough understanding of what a town looks like and how to make it look relatively normal from just certain angles.

Today there were all these vultures at a park there
Tumblr media
Port Deposit also declared its own two genders, but they are both welcome to use any restroom they please
Tumblr media
I grew up 20 minutes away from it but I never met anyone who lives there or works there. People definitely DO. We met a super nice lady today who owns her own little coffee bar there. But it is difficult to accept that anyone in Port Deposit really exists concurrently with the current timeline of this universe. It will blow my mind if there's a single person on tumblr who lives there. The population feels like it's just 20 or 30 aunts and uncles. I don't know whose aunts and uncles. But they are somebody's.
