Composed around quartal harmony and a cycle of fourths. Limited to the use of only four notes to create the melody and harmony, one of these notes replaced every two bars. A slow, dreamy, soothing Strings and Piano track inspired by tides, water, delicate waves, lunar tides, the planets etc.
Slow-paced, ever-changing, drifting tonality.
"...A system based on quartal harmony would be able to accommodate all conceivable chords more uniformly than the tertian system..." (Arnold Schoenberg, Theory of Harmony; Chords Constructed in Fourths.

Well it's the end of May, and for my monthly goal... well I did successfully post the Notevember "wander" prompt to my Pond5 account. It's now titled "A Tune for Wandering." I began reworking the "gravel" prompt, but haven't done that much with it yet. But altogether, it's enough that I can say I met the goal.
There's another possible performance opportunity I'm working toward now that involves reworking something I wrote a few years ago. I'm revoicing it for SSA chorus rather than SATB, and also reconfiguring my use of the text. The original uses a selection of four stanzas from a longer poem, and I'm thinking of including more of the text, and introducing a bridge section so the form isn't entirely strophic. My original setting of four verses is about as far as I would prefer to extend one repeated melody without some kind of contasting idea to break it up and give the whole piece a more compelling shape.
No word on codename canticum antiquum yet, and it's starting to make me feel antsy. I'm trying to decide if I should send an email about it. Maybe next week.

I made an account on Pond5, and I even uploaded a profile picture and banner image and all that. I haven't submitted any music yet, and that might be a tomorrow thing. Maybe. I do work tomorrow. But if I don't get around to that, I'll say the account setup is good enough for my monthly goal.
I'm thinking of submitting what I wrote for the Notevember "wander" prompt. I think that one turned out well. I just need to make a wav file version of it, because that's what Pond5 requires. The version I posted to my blog/tiktok/youtube was mp3, because those platforms don't like big file sizes.
