Okay but if a big icy demon lord wanted me to willingly separate my body from my consciousness for two minutes then sending a pretty ghost girl to convince me to do it would be a really effective way to go about it so

Lucy dacus x f reader
You and Lucy see each other at a party for the first time in years, and surprisingly remembers you.
Warnings for part one:
Mostly fluff and flirting, gets a little dirty at the end
This is the first story either of us (account owners) have written! Thanks for reading 🖤 -🦷
🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
You couldn't believe it, you were at the same event as boygenius, especially Lucy Dacus. You've had an eye on her since about 2017. Yes you'd met and talked at some of her early shows, but then you were always just a fan, not at a fundraiser party with her.
Lucy was wearing this stunning bodysuit, mesh cross-front with a silver ring in the center of her chest. But most importantly this top was sheer, and she was only wearing pasties, something you never thought you'd see up close. Those little black hearts did something to you that you couldn't explain.
The night goes on, and since you didn't want to seem obsessive, you'd only waved and smiled at Lucy. As you're sitting in a secluded hallway you hear Lucy approach you.
"Hi!! I've been wondering where you went! I remember you from those shows so long ago, how are you doing??!" Is this actually happening?
You give Lucy a shocked smile and reply "Oh? Hi!! Just needed a break from the chaos, but, you remember me?"
Lucy smiles and says "I could never forget you, you're absolutely beautiful."
Lucy Dacus just called you beautiful. You could die happy.
"Oh my gosh, you're one to be saying that," as you look her up and down and smirk. Lucy gets that little pink tint to her cheeks and smiles.
"So, how have you been? How long has it been since I've seen you?" You say.
"I've been good! last time we talked was in 2018, so 5 years."
"Wow, it's been that long? Thats crazy." You can't help yourself from admiring her while talking to you.
"So I see you have a couple days off from tour! Are you staying here for the night?"
Her face lights up, "Yes! That's actually why i came over here, i was wondering if you wanted to go to dinner tomorrow night? That's the last night we're in town and I'd really like to take you out!" She has the purest smile as she talks.
"Oh my, um, yes I'd love that! Here's my number so we can work out the details." You hear a distant voice yelling for her, turning around to see Phoebe waving you two over.
You get to Phoebe and see her smile at Lucy and mouth the words "you did it!" to her. Julien appears from behind her and phoebe starts dancing with J, the song fades into Silk Chiffon by MUNA, honestly one of your favorite songs, and Lucy appears to feel the same. She takes your hand and starts dancing, pulling you closer to her.
She looks at you, in your long dress, and sings "she's so soft like silk chiffon," turning you around with her front to your back, swaying you to the melody. You turn back around as Sofia by Clairo starts playing, a song you are both very familiar with, and you smile up at her, grabbing her by the waist.
You two end up leaning against the wall to the side of the dance floor. By the end of the song, you look up at her, your eyes just at her lip level as she bends down to kiss you. You're too distracted by the kiss to tell what song is playing, and as you get lost in her lips you feel her pull you closer, bringing her leg in between yours, basically pinning you to the wall. She kisses you again, causing your leg to graze her crotch. Her breath hitches, but the kiss continues.
Before things can get any more heated, you hear a "Luuuuuucccyyyy! We've gotta go, the driver is here." She abruptly breaks the kiss, turning around to look at Julien. Turning back to you, she places one last gentle kiss on your lips.
"I'll text you when we're back at the hotel and we can make plans for tomorrow." Her hands come up to caress her face as she speaks.
"It's a date," you breathe out, breathless and ready for what tomorrow might bring.

songs that are so anderperry-coded. . . ♡
this version especially...
i could quote the whole song but here are my fave lines:
And then I can tell myself What the hell I'm supposed to do
I had all and then most of you Some and now none of you
mostly cute, also gut-wrenching at times. still obsessed
All I know for now is our bodies clutching tight Leaving wrinkles across your eyelids From the sheet that is our garden And I sincerely beg your pardon If I'll break your heart or if you will break mine
okay this one's gonna be long but i've been obsessed with this song since like march and i've just joined the DPS fandom and it's so anderperry. . . !
All my friends tell me I should move on I'm lying in the ocean, singing your song Ahh That's how you sang it
todd reading a midsummer night's dream out loud every night, always accompanied by hysterical sobbing and wailing that gets harder when neil's parts come up. . .
Loving you forever can't be wrong Even though you're not here, won't move on Ahh That's how we played it
todd wasn't going to be the same after neil, everybody knew. he became closer with the poets (and jeff, they had a heart-to-heart talk after jeff found out), yes, but with other people, he became even more closed off, not wanting to let people in, too scared of pain.
And there's no remedy for memory, your face is like a melody It won't leave my head Your soul is haunting me and telling me that everything is fine But I wish I was dead (dead, like you)
the poets never left todd alone that much post-neil (unpredictable, he was. better safe if ever). the times they did it was to give him space, or because it was physically impossible to be there with him. they take turns rooming with him at night, stolen bed sheets laid on the floor. they don't use neil's bed; it's sacred, it's to be left the same as it is before. todd's sobs synchronize with their soothing voices. and sometimes they start crying too, and that's when todd feels that he's not alone the most, ever since neil.
Every time I close my eyes, it's like a dark paradise No one compares to you I'm scared that you won't be waiting on the other side Every time I close my eyes, it's like a dark paradise No one compares to you I'm scared that you won't be waiting on the other side
todd's surrounding was suffocating. everything reminds him of neil neil neil neil neil. the door to their room, and every other room because their doors were identical. their room: on the first week, he slept on neil's bed, and then he slept on the floor for weeks until he felt okay enough to sleep on his own bed. if he closes his eyes hard enough, concentrates hard enough, he can hear himself and neil.
sorry it became a lyric analysis or whatever This is basically hyperfixation #1 + hyperfixation #2 it's great!!

Ooh since you like giving music recs, mind sharing 5 favorite albums? I love getting music recs and finding new artists to listen to!
OOOOOOH okay this is a really good question!! So narrowing it down is proving to be a bit of a challenge so I’m going to make two lists: the first will be what I think are the top 5 best albums ever and the other list being my personal favourite 5 albums at the moment. I think that way I can talk about music I like while also giving recommendations that aren’t purely mainstream stuff :)
Top 5 Best Albums Ever… According To Me
Rumours by Fleetwood Mac - If a group of people cheating on each other can make an album like this and include the most achingly cool and fantastic base lines (in The Chain) then maybe we as a society need to re-evaluate our stance on monogamy
Folklore by Taylor Swift - Genuinely convinced Taylor Swift hit the jackpot writing this because she really honed into an introspective, calmer theme for an album being released in a time where people were in lockdown and had no choice but to sit around and think (or overthink, if you’re like me). It’s honestly just the most consistently good albums ever.
Melodrama by Lorde - One of the best pop albums ever and I will NEVER shut up about it!!! It tells such a cohesive narrative throughout the whole album, keeps these very fitting late night electronic pop beats (with the exception of the low point of Liability in which it’s just a heartbreaking piano melody) and was released at a point where more synthesized music and late night pop and partying was at its peak. A great example of how you can follow trends without sacrificing your sense of lyrical genius.
Voulez-Vous by ABBA - I just love ABBA and I don’t even think I need to say anything else except for their music led to Mamma Mia so…. everyone should love them????
The Stranger by Billy Joel - BILLYYYYYYY. Honestly this album is so underrated but Vienna alone could bring this into any top 5 list. He has a way of not making constant piano melodies annoying, like I listened to the whole thing and did not get sick of the piano. Billy Joel has just such a nostalgic feel to him.
My Personal 5 Favourite Albums Right Now
five seconds flat by Lizzy McAlpine - I’ve had this album on repeat since july and I don’t think my obsession is dying out anytime soon because lizzy mcalpine has suchhhhh a smooth, clear voice and her lyrics rip my heart out!!! it’s amazing!!! I actually had such an urge to gatekeep her in 2020 when her last album “give me a minute” came out but she’s too good to gatekeep tbh. still, I’m convinced nobody will love her like I love her. no one.
Wet Leg by Wet Leg - I know Harry Styles did a cover of one of their songs once but honestly it didn’t compare to the original. this band came out of nowhere and just has such a unique, fun style and I dig it!! It’s just very cool and laidback and “girl who doesn’t give two shits” kind of stuff
Wasteland, Baby! by Hozier - THIS IS SELF-EXPLANATORY. I fucking love Hozier, his lyrics are truly so poetic and I cry from the beauty of it
Punisher by Phoebe Bridgers - again, this album does a really good job of telling a cohesive story from start to finish. Is it a sad story? Absolutely. But it’s also really beautiful, and the classic hot girl depression music.
Coming Home by Leon Bridges - Mr. Leon Bridges truly doesn’t fuck around!! He’s a king when it comes to this genre and honestly River is such a gorgeous song
Also if anyone wants a song rec for a specific feeling or situation they can hop into my inbox because, if I do humbly say so myself, I’m fucking great at that

Oh, and E, K, and T
please and thank you 💛
"Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" - The Gaslight Anthem sexc.
"Every Single Night" - Computer Games okay so I was a very potter musical girl which meant I was a darren criss girl (and therefore a glee girl) so naturally I heard about this EP and it such a good happy mood record.
"Everybody Wants to Rule the World" - Tears for Fears classic bop
Everything is Everything - Ms. Lauryn Hill you know what else is everything? ms lauryn hill
"The End of All Things" - Panic! at the Disco I am. obsessed with the natural power of Brendan Urie's voice.
"King of My Heart" - tswift a feel good bop with instant serotonin
"Kyoto" - Phoebe Bridgers live, she introduced this with "this is for the dads!" which was very funny. also there was a trumpeter and he was AMAZING
"Keepsake" - The Gaslight Anthem a dan-coded & jess mariano-coded banger
"Kathy's Song" - Paul Simon a classic everyone should know. I'm also partial to the covers by Laura Marling and Eva Cassidy. also dan-coded
"Kinky" - Kesha good clean fun
"This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody)" - Talking Heads all time favorite. lately i've really been loving the live acoustic cover by Walk the Moon. it's impossible to stay sad listening to it.
"Thrash Unreal" punk anthem everyone should know. I saw Laura Jane Grace on like her first tour after transitioning and it was AMAZING. Against Me was touring with The Gaslight Anthem. it was everything.
"Tell It to My Heart" - MEDUZA feat. Hozier my folk-blues baby did an EDM dance anthem which I don't really go for but he has the RANGE darling.
"Think About It" - Fleetwood Mac I'm unclear about the history of this song, but I think it was cut from Rumors and then Nicks put it on one of her solo records. It's so good. and...on the subject of GG thesis songs...this one.
"That's Mr. Bitch to You" - Claud Claud opened for Phoebe and I fell in love with them for this song. I need subtitles for my real life so I couldn't catch all their songs but I caught this one. A new fave. but seriously I'm going to listen to more once I get back to the office.
give me a letter and i’ll tell you my 5 favourite songs starting with that letter

What is your oc’s music taste?
requiem - loves metal and various genres of alternative music. fav band is ghost
melody - not much of a music person, but when she does listen to it it's usually lofi beats to study to type stuff
phoebe - punk enjoyer. fav bands are against me! and PUP because they're just as angry as she is
tobi - goth music. fav bands are the cure and depeche mode
adeline - baroque music. she's a vivaldi girlie 4ever
kiki - grew up on 80s and 90s music, never really got the chance to explore her tastes but her parents did own a few beatles records and she liked them
theo - inexplicably the biggest mcr fan you will ever meet. requiem played it one time and ever since then he's been obsessed. don't ask him why bc he will not know
onyx - doesn't listen to a ton of music but when he does it's usually classical. he appreciates music in general though and will enjoy pretty much anything
javier - one of those people who says they listen to everything except he's being 100% fr. this dude's playlist is crazy. fav artists are lil nas x, alex g and ghost
daisy - never got to listen to much music but she liked acapella and vocals-focused stuff
mary - loved fun, theatrical, dramatic music

Robin Rocks Recs
2021 was the year in which I really found drarry - or rather, took a dive into this vast ocean that is the drarry fandom. The sheer talent we have here (of writers, artists, podficcers, reccers) is truly mind boggling. There are so many people I admire, and so when @drarryboosterclub suggested a rec-in to celebrate the end of the year, I decided to do this: recs for 12 fics of 12 writers I discovered this year. Thank you for giving me countless hours of joy! Can’t wait to see what you'll do in 2022 💖
Thank you so much @ihopeyoubothstaysafefromharm for the invaluable help with the banners!
Tumblr media
This fic is one of my all time angst favourites – it does this complicated thing where it hurts you and heals you at the same time. Beautiful prose, sharp and painful and gorgeous, still managing to be hopeful. And the second chapter – everything you’ll need and more, trust me.
@phoebe-delia - life's like an hourglass glued to the table (1.4k)
Tumblr media
This fic is the combination of MIND-MELTING HOT and deep, tender love and care you can only find in a bee fic, plus one of their hottest Harrys to date – happy and bossy and all around perfect. In case you’re wondering, the banner is a picture of a rug—after some, er, vigorous activities.
@softlystarstruck - give me something to hold onto (1.9k)
Tumblr media
Wow, I mean, this fic. Arranging my thoughts about it, even now, months after reading it for the first time, is impossible. The heat—the clothes—pining Harry who is SO SEVERELY PINING—I might have lost my mind a bit while reading it. Eat this fic with a spoon or gulp it down whole, it’s remarkable.
@peachpety - Burning Down the House (4.1k)
Tumblr media
Will there ever be a time I won’t be affected by Joy’s words? no. Each and every one of his fics cuts deeply, in a loving way though? In this one, Joy does what he does best: it’s poetic, strong, emotional in a grab-you-by-the-throat way but very, very softly. Full of love. Beauty captured in words!
@ihopeyoubothstaysafefromharm - draco malfoy reads "the two headed calf" by laura gilpin (1.3k)
Tumblr media
From the very first line, this fic is electric, intense, so hot you might burn, this is not a joke, serious danger of combustion. This fic, with the risk of sounding hyperbolic, is my literal everything. Obsession in its purest form – and I’m talking about me, yeah?
@calypsotempete - So Hot It Burns Blue (1.6k)
Tumblr media
How do you fit a story in 50 words? How do you do it repeatedly? What Starry does, we all know, is magic – and this compendium is truly spellbinding. Let yourself sink into the brilliance that this series is! Wonderful wonderful wonderful.
@the-starryknight - Starry's Microfic Compendium (5.1k)
Tumblr media
Soft, sweet, full of longing, pining through the ROOF, and obliviousness of the idiots’ kind that’s closest to my heart. This fic is a delight, and the art for it is so stunning – gri is a powerhouse in everything beautiful!
@callmegri - dive (and have no fear) (4.5k)
Tumblr media
The experience of reading a tackytiger fic for the first time is something I can’t really describe – and this one had me incoherent for some long, long minutes. Intricate and complicated and absolutely perfect. Go for the world building, stay for – well. Everything.
@tackytigerfic - Our Little Life (7.2k)
Tumblr media
The sweetest advent fic possible, and then some. The pining is superb, the storyline is wonderful, the dual POV is brilliant—each of their voices is so different, and so inherently them. Be ready to fall in love with Harry and Draco all over again, to the backdrop of quarrelling choirs, dealing with trauma, and some of the sweetest children EVER.
@academicdisaster24 - A Melody of You & Me (64.8k)
Tumblr media
Cav has actually written 9 fics based on the ship dynamics discourse post – each of them pure gold. Funny, lovely, warm, close, they have everything. I made the banner for origami, becaus it still lives in my head rent free (probably forever, by now). The whole series is just brilliant!
@cavendishbutterfly - Ship Dynamics Worth Debating (4.2k)
Tumblr media
Peak dialogue, emotional hurt and comfort, sexting, Draco sending spicy pics, bioluminescence, why are you still reading this list, run to AO3? This fic is perfection in 21k words. Could not let go until I devoured the very last word at *beep* in the morning.
@moonflower-rose - Watch The Castles Burn (21.3k)
Tumblr media
Peony knows just how to grab my heart in two hands and squeeze in every single fic – but this one. This Harry is so in love, I actually melted a bit. It’s incredibly sweet, endearing, hot, and most of all, loving. Just – beautiful.
@orange-peony - Tie (240 words)

My Top 10 Albums of 2021
Where are we now? I'm listening to the women of indie rock more than ever. I still haven't listened to much rap since I lost my footholds in the last few years. Kanye got MAGA-then-gospel; Drake got boring, Kendrick went missing). Those are among the most obvious rappers to be a die-hard fans of, but they at least primed me to seek out other rappers/hip-hop acts via collabs/guest verses. I've had fun listening to some rap, e.g., JPEGMAFIA, but nothing has stuck with me aside from Tyler. I moved to Austin at the end of this year and I'm hoping that reinvigorates my live music calendar (a hope that is hinging on COVID chilling out for a second, so, who knows).
My most-played-on-repeat songs of this year didn't actually show up on albums that made this list: Silk Chiffon by Muna feat. Phoebe Bridges, Like I Used To by Sharon Van Etten and Angel Olsen, and Renegade by Big Red Machine feat. Taylor Swift. The first is an unabashedly happy jam in a sea of emo (ok, emotional) indie rock. I tend to prefer emo-leaning music (I've been burned by Happy Jams before, see the time I listened to Black Beatles on repeat during the afternoon of the 2016 election before everything fell apart) but Silk Chiffon is just absolutely transcendent. Like I Used To is a perfect, chill-inducing duet. Renegade is probably the best Taylor Swift song since... All Too Well? That can't be. But maybe...?
My biggest disappointment of the year was Clairo's Sling. It's not bad, but after the intense subtlety of Immunity, I was hoping for something magical. Instead, Sling adds baroque-pop production that I have never been a fan of. Lorde's Solar Power was also a bit of a disappointment, especially when Lorde herself was hyping up the album so much beforehand (tweeting something to the effect of "been working on my new stuff and it's REALLY REALLY GOOD"). I like the album — it almost made the list! just not going to get the replays that Pure Heroine and Melodrama get.
Runners up:
The War on Drugs - "I Don't Live Here Anymore" (hard to leave this one off because it's so good, but at the end of the day it's a safe next step for the band. Still: always glad to have more The War on Drugs songs!)
Japanese Breakfast - "Jubilee" (a great album, but faced a lot of ear competition)
Big Red Machine - "How Long Do You Think It's Gonna Last" (some excellent songs, but doesn't work as well as an album for me as their first record)
And then there are two exceptional re-releases: Sharon Van Etten's Epic Ten, and Taylor Swift's Red (Taylor's Version).
The pre-2021 albums that should've made the cut in their respective years:
Bartees Strange - "Live Forever" (2020) My most listened-to album of 2021!
Bartees Strange - "Say Goodbye To Pretty Boy" (2020) Ok, this may not have actually made the list last year, but it's fantastic.
Misc Vulfpeck records. Most notably "The Beautiful Game" (2016)
10. The Staves – Good Woman
I discovered this album because I was looking for live shows in Austin when I moved here. I was immediately entranced by The Staves' blend of indie rock and folk. This music sits neatly on the periphery of the female-driven indie rock that I've been obsessed with in the past few years. The show was canceled amid the Omicron COVID surge, but I've kept The Staves on repeat.
9. Bachelor – Doomin' Sun
Bachelor is Jay Som and Ellen of Palehound. Doomin' Sun is one of those albums where you listen to it once and it kind of lulls you into a sense of comfort. It seems easy, almost too easy, how seamlessly it strings together its lyrics, melodies, and riffs. The production does great work here, making these tight songs seems as if they're ladled directly from the same big bubbling chill indie rock cauldron that spawned Pavement's Slanted and Enchanted.
8. Rostam – Changephobia
Rostam's music, specifically his production and his vocal timbre, are peak nostalgia for me. They remind me of listening to music while wandering around Budapest in 2009: Discovery (of course), Dirty Projectors' Bitte Orca, Of Montreal's Hissing Fauna, and a bunch of Animal Collective.
It doesn't really sound like any of those older albums, but it reminds me of the feeling I had listening to that music at that time (immersing myself in indie rock for the first time, coming out of the year where I basically only listened to The Beatles). That's nostalgia, I guess. I don't know if any of this is Rostam's intention, but it's a unique draw to the record.
7. Olivia Rodrigo – SOUR
The first time I heard "drivers license," Amy played it for me in the car while we drove across San Francisco for pastries and a hike. I deconstructed it, immediately following it up with Kesha's "Praying." It's the exact same song structure! And Kesha has better voice control! Oh, this is the lead from High School Musical The Musical The Series. That makes sense... it really has a musical theater quality about it.
I was comparing the two because I love "Praying." And it turns out, I soon would love "drivers license." The whole album, as derivative as it is at times, is such a delightful spin. I can't wait to hear what Olivia does next.
6. Fleet Foxes – Shore
Fleet Foxes always create gorgeous music, and Shore is another entry in that lineage. It gives me a sort of synesthetic response: the music is round and whole. It's a complete system with no room for entry or exit; we're just lucky that they let us listen in.
5. Snail Mail – Valentine
Snail Mail's Lindsey Jordan has clearly lived a lot in her 22 years. The way her voice drops registers when she sings "Take me with you to Nirvana, baby / Take me all the way" feels so... exhausted? I mean that in the best way. Like, she can't even believe she to deal with all these people expecting her to make another album of enigmatic indie rock. Wasn't one, 2018's "Lush," enough for a lifetime? I would've been satisfied if she never made a follow-up, but "Valentine" is superb.
4. Porter Robinson – Nurture
This is the most out-of-left-field entry on my list. I don't listen to much electronic music outside of Gold Panda/Four Tet/Caribou/Jamie xx. That's not intentional, it's just that I don't have great discovery channels for it. A friend recommended this Anthony Fantano interview with Porter Robinson and I felt a kindred spirit in Porter. I can't quite put my finger on what it was. Maybe the heart-of-sleeve millennialness of it all? Either way, this is a tight album of euphoric electropop bangers. Who says no to that?
3. Indigo De Souza – Any Shape You Take
I usually need several plays to situate myself in an indie rock album, especially one by a new-to-me artist. But the very first note of "17," the "Dah" of "Darling if you need / I'll be right here / I come to rescue," is such a gripping, direct start to an album. The rest of the album toys with this directness on songs like "Die/Cry" (which is almost punk in its simplicity) and subverts it on songs like "Late Night Crawler," a song that I'm having a very hard time to that I'm transfixed by but having a very hard time explaining why.
2. Tyler the Creator – Call Me If You Get Lost
Do I have to explain this one? It's Tyler at his Tylerest. It's a swirl cake of all the best parts of Flower Boy and IGOR, with DJ Drama's hilarious adlibs as the sprinkles.
1. Lucy Dacus – Home Video
Lucy was my favorite of the boygenii when I saw them perform in late 2019, so I've been eager for her next album. Like sometimes-bandmate-and-last-year-number-one-album-artist Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy is an incredible writer. I didn't realize this until "Home Video," though. These are all slices-of-life that make me nostalgic in a completely different way than Rostam's album.
I think a lot about high school, not because I'm dwelling in that past and want to go back to that life, but mostly because it was so weird compared to my current life. Any of my time that wasn't consumed by schoolwork and school activities was filled with lifelong friends that I would never live near again. Nearly everything that was important to me at the time is now just a curio or an anecdote. Like many millennials (judging by Emo Nite attendance), I listen to music that reminds me of being in high school, your Falls Out Boy and whatnot. And I listen to music written by people currently in that mindset, like Olivia Rodrigo. But I don't listen to a lot of adult reflections on the coming-of-age experience, which is kinda surprising, because adults making coming-of-age stories is a bankable (and generally adored by me) trope in the film industry.
"Home Video" is a coming-of-age album. Lucy's experience is, of course, quite different from my own, but there's a lot to latch onto. Like, casually creating an evocative earworm in "VBS" that's entirely composed of actual anecdotes from her diary. Or "Brando," a delightful vignette about dating a pretentious jackass in high school. Does anyone know where I can find one of those? The finale, "Triple Dog Dare," more or less scripts the ending of a movie that will probably get nominated for an Oscar in a couple years.
So, put some headphones on and close your eyes and think about walking around your high school after hours. Lucy will meet you there.

August by Taylor Swift - so much for summer love
So much for summer love and saying "us" 'Cause you weren't mine to lose You weren't mine to lose, no
But I can see us lost in the memory August slipped away into a moment in time 'Cause it was never mine
everything i wanted by billie eilish - what I love about stories is when something in it just *clicks*. it was right in front of you the whole time and yet when it's pointed out it's so shocking. That's how it felt in chapter 5 when dream pointed out that in reality, his dreams were about sewerslide. the setup and then pay off was incredible for the storytelling
I had a dream I got everything I wanted Not what you'd think And if I'm being honest
Coulda been a nightmare But it felt like they were right there And it feels like yesterday was a year ago But I don't wanna let anybody know 'Cause everybody wants something from me now And I don't wanna let 'em down
I had a dream I got everything I wanted But when I wake up, I see You with me
And you say, "As long as I'm here No one can hurt you"
This Side of Paradise by Coyote Theory -
"I know you were on your own for a long time, and it hurt you." Dream's voice grows quieter as he continues, “I hurt you. None of that was your fault. But you don’t have to be alone anymore.”
Ask me why my heart's inside my throat I've never been in love, I've been alone Feel like I've been living life asleep Love so strong it makes me feel so weak
Are you lonely? (Are you lonely?) Our fingers dancing when they meet You seem so lonely (are you lonely?) I'll be the only dream you seek So if you're lonely, no need to show me If you're lonely, come be lonely with me
Model Buses by Lovejoy - THE WAY I WAS SCREAMING AT GEORGE TO JUST LET GO IN CHAPTER 10 LIKE MAAM ABFHSADB YOU'RE JUST SCARED OF THE FUTURE
You're like a breath of fresh air on a warm summer evening It's up to you, right? when deciding the night Isn't over but fight just to make sure the song does (wait)
'Cause you're just scared You're just scared of the future
Homewrecker by Marina - the way george pushes dream and honestly everyone away is honestly a tragic aspect to his character. the way george closes off feels "logical" (like calculated) and analytical. this song relates to that clean-cut, no feelings no problem ideology.
We're all very lovely 'til we get to know each other As we stop becoming friends and we start becoming lovers
And I don't belong to anyone
Instead of love and trust and laughter What you get is happy never after But deep down all you want is love The pure kind we all dream of But we cannot escape the past So you and I will never last
Static by The Wrecks - I DONT KNOW GEORGE WHY DO YOU GIVE UP ON LOVE SO EASILY (I'm so sorry I'm writing this after reading chapter 10)
also yes dream you're obsessive but I know you're working on it *pat pat* you're doing fine
I was so dumb Thought I earned your love Thought I finally had it in the bag Even made your mother laugh I could ask you what I did wrong It'd probably still go over my head
Why do I give up on love so easy Just when it gets good? And why am I so self-obsessive? I can't treat you like I should
I promise, darling, you You're not You're not The havoc in my head, I wish the static would stop
Sunflower, Vol. 6 by Harry Styles - “I just—I’ve dreamt of this before, and—you’ve got to stop kissing me in this stupid kitchen.”
although this scene in chapter 9 feels more heated, this song is a more wholesome, light version of that scene. Everything just seems to float and they just relish in the moment.
My eyes, want you more than a melody Let me inside Wish I could get to know you
I don't wanna make you feel bad But I've been trying hard not to talk to you Sunflower (Sunflower, sunflower)
I couldn't want you any more Kiss in the kitchen like it's a dance floor I couldn't want you any more tonight (Tonight, tonight, tonight)
Moon Song by Phoebe Bridgers - once again, just when everything feels ok and content, they get hit with their issues and everything is rock bottom again. this sad lullaby-like song is the aftermath of chapter 9. George kissed dream but again he's pushed away so dream "will wait for the next time you want me, like a dog with a bird at your door"
You asked to walk me home But I had to carry you And you pushed me in And now my feet can't touch the bottom of you
You couldn't have, you couldn't have Stuck your tongue down the throat of somebody Who loves you more So I will wait for the next time you want me Like a dog with a bird at your door
Wish You Were Sober by Conan Gray - chapter 9 got me fucked up ;;
Don't take a hit, don't kiss my lips And please don't drink more beer
Tripped down the road, walking home You kissed me at your door Pulling me close, begging me to stay over But I'm over this rollercoaster
Kiss me in the seat of your Rover Real sweet, but I wish you were sober
I wish you were sober (Wish you were so, wish you were so, wish you were sober) I wish you were sober
1 step forward, 3 steps back by Olivia Rodrigo - walking on eggshells..
Called you on the phone today Just to ask you how you were All I did was speak normally Somehow I still struck a nerve
'Cause it's always one step forward and three steps back I'm the love of your life until I make you mad It's always one step forward and three steps back Do you love me, want me, hate me? Boy, I don't understand No, I don't understand
And maybe in some masochistic way I kinda find it all exciting Like, which lover will I get today?
Why Didn't You Stop Me by Mitski - george's running away might lead him to lose the one he loves. Also:
"I'm not you," he agrees. "But I know you."
I know that I ended it, but Why won't you chase after me? You know me better than I do So why didn't you stop me?
Ignorance by Paramore - aight so you know how in Hamilton Eliza has her song Burn which is a sad heartbreak song. But then there's First Burn which is just anger and lashing out and calling out all the bullshit that happened. yeah. This is Dream's First Burn
You treat me just like another stranger Well, it's nice to meet you, sir I guess I'll go I'd best be on my way out
Ignorance is your new best friend Ignorance is your new best friend
I'm just a person, but you can't take it The same tricks that, that once fooled me They won't get you anywhere I'm not the same kid from your memory Well, now I can fend for myself
Don't wanna hear your sad songs I don't wanna feel your pain When you swear it's all my fault 'Cause you know we're not the same
Hope you enjoyed !! Here's the playlist with all the songs

“Showtime isn't over so you better keep playing, copycat.”
The title track “Copycat” its full rap song rich with trap beat and dubstep breakdown. Produced by Starr Chen and Monochrome members Phoebe, Miran, and Hyesung, and also written by the same members in collaboration with Alex Ni and “golden melody award winner for best lyrics” Hsia Yu. The song described a witty conception on how modern society it’s so obsessed with presenting an unrealistic persona just to be more appealing to others, while also focusing the attention on the constant pressure that’s put into idols to act a certain way instead of letting them show their real personalities. The lyrics are full of satirical remarks that combined with the beat, gives a happier atmosphere to the song, in contrast to the more heavy criticisms hidden on its meaning.

“Believe me, you're no trouble. goddess or girl, there's always someone who will love you.”
The track "Miss trouble" was written and produced by Miran, Phoebe, Hyesung, and Starr Chen. It’s a rap song with a trap influenced verses and slightly operatic choruses. In the words of Phoebe, the song talks about how it’s so easy to lose yourself in the blinding lights of fame.
“This girl (miss trouble) seems like a glamorous superstar in front of the cameras. but in reality she’s reality insecure and doesn’t seem to be able to put her life in order because she believes that this idolized image it’s her real self...when reality hits her she prefers to ignore it instead of facing it.” Explains the singer in an interview included in the deluxe version of the single. Members of Monochrome mentioned that they want to use this song as a reminder to keep true to themselves so they won’t become a Miss trouble in the future.
Tumblr media
“I am 1, not a lonely individual. Write to imitations, and also write to loss. I am the truth, the farthest extremity.”
"Gentlewomen" was written by Cheer Chan, Miran, Hyesung, Phoebe and Olivia,  and produced by Tiger Chung, Hyesung, Phoebe, and Miran. It was inspired by Simone de Beauvoir's book “The second sex”, which talks about the existentialism and feminism. The song merges the genres of noise rock and alternative dance, and it combines with distorted guitar riffs as it progresses.

—  ERA HIGHLIGHTS
They didn’t have lots of stage performances, they performed in a few award shows, music festivals and some variety shows. Their most-viewed performance was in 2018 MAMA’s.
Styling this era was very hip-hop inspired and colorful. The stylist allowed the members to give their opinions on some outfits, and made sure they were comfortable on stage.
On November 12 they had their first showcase where they performed all their songs, included original songs from “Pick! Pick! Girls”, and every member had a special solo stage.
They released two dance practices, a normal one and a pajama ver.
The girls also did a live stream to thank the fans for all their support.
A fancam of the girls performing in the rain during a music festival and looking ethereal became viral on Twitter and Weibo.
Another fancam, this time a Miran fancam performing “No company”, went viral on stan twitter, ad kpop stans started calling her chinese short haired goddess.
They also have a bunch of appearances on variety show where they had some funny moments. Like when they asked Stella what’s something she had that her members didn’t and she answered “bobs”, or when Kiseki did a small gymnastic performance and then Olivia tried to recreate a move and her back cracked so hard everybody stopped the filming to make sure she didn’t break a bone, or when they had to recreate a drama scene and everybody started clowning Phoebe because she got her dialogues wrong. And the list goes on and on. What can i said? My girls were happy to be out of the dungeon.
Talking of the dungeon… the happiness’ didn’t last long. After the showcase, they went back to being more of an endorsement group rather than an idol group.
That’s all for now. Overall they had a great debut and all the girls were happy and healthy during this era. Highly overworked? Yes, but happy that they could release their music at the end.

01. you’re birthed from fear. bloodied mouthed prised open, you recite hymns in sun soaked churches. knees bruised, crosses heavy. you’re scared before you can remember. it becomes a gnawing that grows in a pit in your stomach. it tastes bitter, - wined. your mother calls it the devil. one that sits in the corner of your room, drapes clothes, - sings sweet melodies with pressed kisses. those desires that crawl at the nape of your neck, sticky sweet & cursed. you swallow it whole & visit church each sunday.
02. your brother visits you in clinical painted walls ; pierced shaped lungs have failed you before you are grown and you are bedbound by your mother’s pinched nails. it becomes a game between the two of you ; a moonlight soaked room, whispers in the dark. he speaks of a world outside of irving, you cannot fathom the taste of something other than your room, - it feels heavy, bitter. he leaves before you turn sixteen, he does not return.
