Hi! I see that the Kitsune and O.E.D. advice column has been closed. Is this something you two think you might re-open again in the future? Just curious; I was thinking about coming back with more shenanigans (i.e. games) to frazzle our two warlords. ;) Thanks again for all your time and effort you guys put into this! Have a good day! :)
Hello, and thank you - I'm glad you enjoyed the game! We enjoyed it on this end as well. I think the Editor has Kitsune and OED on lockdown for a little while, but you know... it takes a LOT to keep a warlord contained, so... "Samurwise Advice" might return at some point in the future, with even more warlords giving advice. In the meanwhile - if it's shenanigans you want, there's something fun/cursed coming late June/early July.
Thank you for stopping by the inbox!

Dear Mr. Kitsune and Mr. O.E.D,
I'm an exorcist, working to guide the straying spirits to go back to their realm. But lately... I couldn't take my eyes off a man who often disguised himself as a fox spirit. He's not under the control of any spirits, no, he's totally a normal human being but there are times when he could read me as precisely as a Satori (a spirit who can read people's minds and see into the future) would do. I love my job as an exorcist as I would always treat the lost souls and spirits as my own dearest friends looking for help, yet here's where I found my doubt... is the longing I felt for him is just a mere illusion (for overlapping it with the burning passion of my own profession), or is this something real and it's acceptable and even forgivable to bloom this buds of adoration into a beautiful flower named affection and desire?
Thank you for this great opportunity to seek some opinions from both of you. I hope you both are in great health and wish you a wonderful day.🍀 - @ashavazesa
Dear Exorcist,
I believe you’re overthinking the problem. Can your feelings be any more real than what you’re experiencing at the moment? True, they may change one day, but it is not productive to live your life while worrying about a future that you may not even have. After all, no tomorrows can be taken for granted.
The only way to assess your feelings is to act on them. Do you want to live your life wondering about what-if-s? Or would you rather live through it and judge it at the end? From my perspective, it is much worse to regret not having done something, especially when you are the one holding yourself back.
About pursuing your emotion: why should anybody be able to tell you whether it is acceptable? Miss Exorcist, the only person capable of weighing that is you. Ask yourself what are the things you strive for and consider your core. Does this relationship stand in contradiction to your ideals? Does it challenge them? Could it allow for you to grow into the person you want to become?
Although… If the object of your longing really is able to read minds like Satori, I suppose he may already be aware of your affections towards him. In which case, is there really still a reason to hesitate? He may be waiting for you to deliver him the answer yourself.
I also wish you good health. May your life be long. Treasure each day. -O.E. D.
Curious about the Kitsune’s opinion? Go to @the12thnightproject to find out what he had to say.

The one thing we all agreed on, our chief aim, was to be totally unpredictable and never to repeat ourselves. We wanted to be unquantifiable. That 'pythonesque' is now an adjective in the O.E.D. means we failed utterly.

1 APRIL — YEAR OF THE TUCKS MEDICATED PAD
[...] [DFW, Infinite jest, 3a]
'How did you know I was interested in Byzantine erotica?’ 'You seem persistently to confuse me with someone who merely hangs out a shingle with the word Conversationalist on it, and this operation with a fly-by-night one strung together with chewing gum and twine. You think I have no support staff? Researchers at my beck? You think we don't delve full-bore into the psyches of those for whom we've made appointments to converse? You don't think this fully accredited limited partnership would have an interest in obtaining data on what informs and stimulates our con-versees?’ 'I know only one person who'd ever use full-bore in casual conversation.’ 'There is nothing casual about a professional conversationalist and staff. We delve. We obtain, and then some. Young sir.’ 'Okay, Alexandrian or Constantinian?’ 'You think we haven't thoroughly researched your own connection with the whole current intra-Provincial crisis in southern Quebec?’ 'What intra-Provincial crisis in southern Quebec? I thought you wanted to talk racy mosaics.’ 'This is an upscale district of a vital North American metropolis, Hal. Standards here are upscale, and high. A professional conversationalist flat-out full-bore delves. Do you for one moment think that a professional plier of the trade of conversation would fail to probe beak-deep into your family's sordid liaison with the pan-Canadian Resistance's notorious M. DuPlessis and his malevolent but allegedly irresistible amanuensis-cum-operative, Luria P---------?’ 'Listen, are you okay?’ 'Do you?’ 'I'm ten for Pete's sake. I think maybe your appointment calendar's squares got juggled. I'm the potentially gifted ten-year-old tennis and lexical prodigy whose mom's a continental mover and shaker in the prescriptive-grammar academic world and whose dad's a towering figure in optical and avant-garde film circles and single-handedly founded the Enfield Tennis Academy but drinks Wild Turkey at like 5:00 A.M. and pitches over sideways during dawn drills, on the courts, some days, and some days presents with delusions about people's mouths moving but nothing coming out. I'm not even up to J yet, in the condensed O.E.D., much less Quebec or malevolent Lurias.’ '. .. of the fact that photos of the aforementioned . . . liaison being leaked to Der Spiegel resulted in the bizarre deaths of both an Ottawan paparazzo and a Bavarian international-affairs editor, of an alpenstock through the abdomen and an ill-swallowed cocktail onion, respectively?’ 'I just finished jew's-ear. I'm just starting on jew's-harp and the general theory of oral lyres. I've never even skied.’ 'That you could dare to imagine we'd fail conversationally to countenance certain weekly shall we say maternal ... assignations with a certain unnamed bisexual bassoonist in the Albertan Secret Guard's tactical-bands unit?’ 'Gee, is that the exit over there I see?’ '. . . that your blithe inattention to your own dear grammatical mother's cavortings with not one not two but over thirty Near Eastern medical attaches . . . ?’ 'Would it be rude to tell you your mustache is askew?’ '. .. that her introduction of esoteric mnemonic steroids, stereo-chemically not dissimilar to your father's own daily hypodermic "mega-vitamin" supplement derived from a certain organic testosterone-regeneration compound distilled by the Jivaro shaman of the South-Central L.A. basin, into your innocent-looking bowl of morning Ralston...’ 'As a matter of fact I'll go ahead and tell you your whole face is kind of running, sort of, if you want to check. Your nose is pointing at your lap.’ 'That your quote-unquote "complimentary" Dunlop widebody tennis racquets' super-secret-formulaic composition materials of high-modulus-graphite-reinforced polycarbonate polybutylene resin are organochemically identical I say again identical to the gyroscopic balance sensor and mise-en-scène appropriation card and priapistic-entertainment cartridge implanted in your very own towering father's anaplastic cerebrum after his cruel series of detoxifications and convolution-smoothings and gastrectomy and prostatectomy and pancreatectomy and phalluctomy . . .’ Tap tap. 'SHULGSPAHH.’ '. .. could possibly escape the combined investigative attention of. .. ?’ 'And it strikes me I've definitely seen that argyle sweater-vest before. That's Himself's special Interdependence-Day-celebratory-dinner argyle sweater-vest, that he makes a point of never having cleaned. I know those stains. I was there for that clot of veal marsala right there. Is this whole appointment a date-connected thing? Is this April Fools, Dad, or do I need to call the Moms and C.T.?’ '... who requires only daily evidence that you speak? That you recognize the occasional vista beyond your own generous Mondragonoid nose's fleshy tip?’ 'You rented a whole office and face for this, but leave your old unmistakable sweater-vest on? And how'd you even get down here before me, with the Mercury up on blocks after you . . . did you fool C.T. into giving you the keys to a functional car?’ 'Who used to pray daily for the day his own dear late father would sit, cough, open that bloody issue of the Tucson Citizen, and not turn that newspaper into the room's fifth wall? And who after all this light and noise has apparently spawned the same silence?’ '...’ 'Who's lived his whole ruddy bloody cruddy life in five-walled rooms?' 'Dad, I've got a duly scheduled challenge match with Schacht in like twelve minutes, wind at my downhill back or no. I've got this oral-lyrologist who's going to be outside Brighton Best Savings wearing a predesignated necktie at straight-up five. I have to mow his lawn for a month for this interview. I can't just sit here watching you think I'm mute while your fake nose points at the floor. And are you hearing me talking, Dad? It speaks. It accepts soda and defines implore and converses with you.’ 'Praying for just one conversation, amateur or no, that does not end in terror? That does not end like all the others: you staring, me swallowing?’ ‘...’ ‘Son?’

Disgruntled Former Lexicographer
Steve Martin for The New Yorker, 1999
***
The following definition was discovered in the 1999 edition of the Random House dictionary. The crafting of this definition was the final assignment of Mr. Del Delhuey, who had been dismissed after 32 years with the company.
***
Mutton (mut’n), n. [Middle English, from Old French mouton, moton, from Medieval Latin multo, multon-, of Celtic origin.] 1. The flesh of fully grown sheep. 2. A glove with four fingers. 3. Two discharged muons. 4. Seven English tons. 5. One who mutinies. 6. To wear a dog. 7. A fastening device on a mshirt or mblouse. 8. Fuzzy underwear for ladies.
9. A bacteria-resistant amoeba with an attractive do. 10. To throw a boomerang weakly. 11. Any kind of lump. (slang) 12. A hundred mittens. 13. An earthling who has been taken over by an alien. 14. The smallest whole particle in the universe, so small you can hardly see it. 15. A big, nasty cut on the hand. 16. The rantings of a flibbertigibbet. 17. My wife never supported me. 18. It was as though I worked my whole life and it wasn’t enough for her. 19. My children think I’m a nerd.
20. In architecture, a bad idea. 21. Define this, you nitwits. 22. To blubber one’s finger over the lips while saying, ‘bluh.’ 23. I would like to take a trip to the seaside, where no one knows me. 24. I would like to be walking on the beach when a beautiful woman passes by. 25. She would stop me and ask me what I did for a living. 26. I would tell her I am a lexicographer. 27. She would say, “Oh, you wild boy.” Exactly that, not one word different.
28. Then she would ask me to define our relationship, which at that point would be one minute old. I would demur. But she would say, “Oh please define this second for me right now.” 29. I would look at her and say, “Mutton.” 30. She would swoon. Because I would say it in a slight Spanish accent, at which I am very good. 31. I would take her hand and she would notice me feeling her wedding ring. I would ask her whom she is married to. She would say, “A big cheese at Random House.”
32. I would take her to my motel room, and teach her the meaning of love. 33. I would use the American Heritage, out of spite, and read all the definitions. 34. Then I would read out of the Random House some of my favorites among those that I worked on: “the” (just try it); “blue” (give it a shot, and don’t use the word ‘nanometer’). 35. I would make love to her according to the O.E.D., sixth definition.
36. We would call room service and order tagliolini without looking it up. 37. I would return her to the beach, and we would say good-bye. 38. Gibberish in e-mail. 39. A reading lamp with a lousy fifteen-watt bulb, like they have in Europe. Also: a. muttonchops: slicing sheep meat with the face. b. muttsam: sheep floating in the sea. c. muttonheads: the Random House people.

Things that will never not be funny: pre-60′s literary critics bending over backward trying not to say any dirty words and instead saying things like “that firmly established Standard English word which, a vulgarism, is omitted by the O.E.D.”
(The word is “cunt.” It’s in the O.E.D. now, so don’t worry.)
(Side note, other things that will never not be funny: old-school scholars tearing other old-school scholars new ones for not being ballsy enough to put “cunt” or “fuck” into their dictionaries.)

Judicial Notice to the U.S. Supreme Court Witnessed by All High Courts
I am told that on the 1st day of November, 2021, the U.S. Supreme Court will be taking up the question of who owns the land and soil of America?
It is not for the U.S. Supreme Court to decide. This court is not authorized to consider questions of land or soil ownership in America. Both jurisdictions lie outside the purview of the U.S. Supreme Court and the Justices thereof, and these questions are also outside the jurisdiction of the Municipal Government.
I am further informed that the Justices are so confused that they do not even understand the process by which the American States were formed and are unable to give any accurate account of the process that led to the existence of our Autochthonous States of the Union, our Federation of States, and our country as a whole.
This absurd situation should reasonably suggest to everyone that those so ignorant of the history that they fail to recognize the limits of their own jurisdiction cannot lead the discussion and are incompetent to even properly frame the questions to be answered.
The short answer is that the former Colonies were all organized as estates, and upon declaring their independence, they further organized groups of these estates within their traditional colonial boundaries as "States".
Plantation “… A COLONY”… “e state” [> COLONIAL STATES OPPOSED TO REPUBLICAN States]. Plantation. "In English Law. A colony... In American law. A farm; a large cultivated estate".
Province …. Proxincia> Government administrated by a Magistrate and / or Military Commander [Origins … Eymological Dictionary by Eric Partridge (O.E.D.) p. 531].
I shall now direct the Autochthonous people's attention to only three/3.
In Art.1, § 2, Clause 3, Sentence 3 of the C.U.S.A. there are fourteen/ 14 states esoterically written:
1. New Hampshire
2. Massachusetts
3. Rhode Island
4. Providence Plantation
5. Connecticut
6. New York
7. New Jersey
8. Pennsylvanian
9. Delaware
10. Maryland
11. Virginia
12. North Carolina
13. South Carolina
14. Georgia
The Federal Government is none other than "Providence Plantation" [of Art. 1, § 2,
C.U.S.A.] or the Corporate Administrative government in charge of and having jurisdiction over "Property", i.e., (a) the European White inhabitants and (b) "the(se) United Colonies'" rights and/or
property and certain individuals of African NATIVITY. See, e.g., Penhallow vs. Doane, 1 L.Ed 507, 3 Dall at page 75:
“The style of the confederation was changed from “United Colonies” to “United
States” on September 16th 1776”.
Within Article 1, § 2 there is no mention of a "national or federal" government, however, the Congressional Globe or Records of the United States [S.P. 1489, 13th Amendment, 38-Congress, 1st Sess., April 9, 1864, New Series... No. 94] does clearly indicate three governments, that is to say:
I. General Government> Preamble and Treaty Government
II. Federal Government> Corporation or Administrative Government
III. State Government> Republican and Common Law Government
Congressional Quote:
"The General Government have not legitimately, and were never intended to have, any jurisdiction or authority over the subject of PROPERTY [>Rights, personal property and White Negro subject to another's jurisdiction]... are questions which were never intended to be entrusted to the General [Preamble and Articles 1-7] Government.
That is a great and fundamental feature of our Federal [Corporation- 14th Amendment citizenship] Government and State [Republican] Governments".
The United States of North America, in the Family of Nations, government sent this senatorial response after George Washington's 1789 Inauguration speech:
Monuments of Washington's Patriotism, 1789 pp. 77 & 79:
“This day the great illustrious Washington, the favorite son of Liberty, and deliverer of HIS (not Our) country, entered upon the execution of the office n...t Magistrate of the United States of America … His Excellency …attended by a COMMITTEE (Not Members or Representative) of the
Senate and House of Representatives, to FEDERAL HALL ...”.
"We, the Senate of the United States.. ..Congratulate you on the complete
organization of the Federal Government ...on your elevation to the office of
President, an office highly important by the powers constitutionally ANNEXED to it … in which the APPOINTMENT is made". M.W.P., p. 79.
New States were added under the provisions of the Northwest Ordinance until the Civil War.
During the Civil War (West Virginia) and afterward, new States continued to form under the provisions of the Northwest Ordinance and were added as Territorial States, approved for admittance to the Union, yet not fully enrolled because the actual Autochthonous Government was not in Session to enroll them.
This situation was finally recognized slightly over a year ago, when the State Assemblies formed prior to the Civil War voted by Roll Call Vote to enroll all the Territorial States as States of the Union.
All fifty (50) States are present and accounted for and their Governments are in Session, as is their unincorporated Federation of States doing business as The United States of North America.
We are the Owners of Record, and despite a lot of selfinterested rumors otherwise, we are still here and still in possession of the sovereignty and treaties and contracts owed to this country.
This information and our objections to the jurisdiction of the U.S. Supreme Court in this matter are being recorded and distributed to all the High Courts and persons responsible for proper administration.
Chief LaVern Fast Horse is presenting the interests of a Dependent Sovereignty which lost the various Indian Wars, and any revisiting of these issues outside the peaceful settlement of our present co-existence would only cause more bloodshed and the likely extermination of a precious minority.
Sincerely,
Ernest Rauthschild
