RUDOLPH ISLEY (1939-Died October 11th 2023,at 84). American singer-songwriter and one of the founding members of The Isley Brothers,consisting of Rudolph,his brothers O'Kelly "Kelly" Isley Jr. and Ronald Isley in the late 1950s. With a career spanning over six decades, the group has enjoyed one of the "longest, most influential, and most diverse careers in the pantheon of popular music".

Together with a fourth brother, Vernon, the group performed gospel music until Vernon's death a few years after its formation. After moving to New York City in the late 1950s, the group had their first successes during these early years, and rose to prominence in 1959 with their fourth single, "Shout", written by the three brothers, which became their first single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100, and sold over a million copies. In the 1960s, the group recorded songs for a variety of labels, including the top 20 single "Twist and Shout" and the Motown single "This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak for You)", before recording and releasing the Grammy Award-winning hit "It's Your Thing" on their own label, T-Neck Records.

The inclusion of younger brothers Ernie Isley (lead guitar, drums) and Marvin Isley (bass guitar), and Rudolph's brother-in-law Chris Jasper (keyboards, synthesizers), in 1973 turned the original vocal trio into a complete band and led to the group's reaching the height of their success. For the next full decade, they recorded a string of top-selling albums including 3 + 3, Between the Sheets, and The Heat Is On, with the latter peaking at number one on the Billboard 200 chart. The six-member band splintered in 1984, with Ernie, Marvin, and Chris Jasper forming the short-lived spinoff group Isley-Jasper-Isley. The oldest member, O'Kelly, died in 1986. Afterwards Rudolph and Ronald released a pair of albums as a duo before Rudolph retired to a life in the Christian ministry in 1989. After multiple lineup changes, the remaining duo of Ronald and Ernie achieved mainstream success with the albums Mission to Please (1996), Eternal (2001) and Body Kiss (2003). Eternal spawned the top 20 hit "Contagious". As of 2023, the Isley Brothers continue to perform under the lineup of Ronald and Ernie.

The Isley Brothers have sold over 18 million units in the United States alone With their first major hit charting in 1959 ("Shout"), and their last one in 2001 ("Contagious"), they are among the few groups ever to have hit the Billboard Hot 100 with new music in six different decades. Sixteen of their albums charted in the Top 40 and thirteen of those albums have been certified gold, platinum or multi-platinum by the RIAA. The brothers have been honored by several musical institutions, including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, which inducted them in 1992. Founding member of The Isley Brothers, Rudolph Isley, has died at the age of 84, his family has announced. The group is best known for hits such as Twist And Shout and Summer Breeze, and has a career spanning more than six decades. In a statement, Ronald Isley said: "There are no words to express my feelings and the love I have for my brother. Our family will miss him. But I know he's in a better place." No other details were released. Isley was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1939, and started his career by singing in church with his brothers Ronald and O'Kelly. He was still a teenager when the group broke through in the 1950s with Shout (later popularised by Lulu), originally written as a gospel track but was later used in the toga party scene in Animal House. In the early 1960s, The Isley Brother's released Twist And Shout - a track loved so much by The Beatles it was used by the group as the closing song on their debut album. Other tracks released by the group included This Old Heart Of Mine (Is Weak For You) and It's Your Thing - which won a Grammy Award. The trio was joined by younger brothers Ernest and Marvin in the 1970s, catapulting the group into even more success, with albums such as The Heat Is On and Go For Your Guns. Ronald Isley (May 21, 1941), known as Mr. Biggs, is a recording artist, songwriter, record producer, and occasional actor. He is best known as the lead singer and founding member of the family music group The Isley Brothers. He, like many of his siblings, began his career in the church. He began singing at the age of two, winning a $25 war bond for singing at a spiritual contest at the Union Baptist Church. By the age of seven, he was singing on-stage at venues such as the Regal Theater in Chicago, alongside Dinah Washington, and a few other notables. He was singing regularly with his brothers in church tours and also first appeared on TV on Ted Mack's Amateur Hour. He and his two elder brothers O'Kelly and Rudy moved to New York to pursue a music career.
