SOME DAYS © 2023 G. Smith (BMI) ================== Some days a victory! Some days – defeat… Some days excited; Some days – just beat. Some days a lion, Some days – the meat Some days a victory! Some days – defeat.

Some days you seize, Some days you survive. Each day is different, Part of being alive. Some fly by quickly, Some, a long nine to five. Some days you seize, Some days you survive.

Some are a battle, Some are a dance. Each one is different, You just take your chance. A walk in the park, A long rush-hour drive. Some days you seize, Some days you survive.

Some days a victory! Some days – defeat… Some days excited; Some days – just beat. Some days a lion, Some days – the meat Some days a victory! Some days – defeat.

Some days you fumble, And some days you thrive, Some days you stumble, And bumble and strive, To climb high on the mountain, And not take a dive. Some days you seize, Some days you survive.

Some days you push, Some days you pull. Some days are lonely, Some days are full, Some days are family, Some just husbands and wives. Some days you seize, Some days you survive.

Nov 1st — “Declaration poem”

Today is Wednesday,  and it is one of those sunny-cold days in November  that foretells sorrow. Birds are murmuring dangerously low over the highway. The sky says it all: the blinding sun,  the snow-white clouds, the biting air. But today it is Wednesday. And sunny, and I am in love with the world.

we've been doing sonnets in my forms of poetry class and the unit is about to come to an end so i though id play a bit with 14 line structure. im not so sure this comes across as a declaration but im happy with the feeling it conveys and the volta, even if contrived

I don't exactly know when I started sketching and drawing in various sketchbooks at the same time but it's the most dissatisfying habit I've gotten into

#I want the satisfaction of finishing a sketchbook back!!!!!!!!! 😭 #currently i have a regular moleskine going an aquarell one one in A4 format i barely use an old one that was only partially finished #i mainly use for face studies and sometimes anatomy #one in a square format that's at this point the closest to being finished but too heavy to carry around and great for markers or mixed media #so I don't want to continue wasting it for mindless doodles #two in a small format i hardly ever take anywhere because the paper is very thin and i hate drawing that small #AND last but not least the sketch pad I've been using for my gesture drawing #this doesn't cover other pads i will occasionally use #and also oops i forgot one because it mainly sits in my drawer #sooo i think it's around 10 #and some have different purposes - like the aquarell one will take some time #i do use it for the intended purpose and i want it to be a mini artbook lol #but it's just .... so annoying to be so over the place i #with it #for a while I'd start and finish moleskine 14x21 ones in 3-5 months or so #this one i started at the end of november/beginning of December and i haven't even hit the halfway point

Smith (BMI) ================== Je t’aime, Madame, je t’aime, Je t’aime, Madame, je ‘taime; Tu es mon coeur, Pour toujours et toujours, Je t’aime, Madame, je taime… He met her in Paris, Just after the war, And knew at first sight, What he was there for. Their whole world was changing, they reached for the brass ring, And when they decided to wed; Her English was broken, his French poorly spoken, But she knew what he meant when he said, Je t’aime, Madame, je t’aime, Je t’aime, Madame, je ‘taime; Tu es mon coeur, Pour toujours et toujours, Je t’aime, Madame, je taime… They came to the States in late forty-eight, When his time in the service was done. Down to his hometown in South Alabama; Where they raised a daughter and son.  They got through the sixties, Vietnam and the hippies, Sometimes those mem’ries got blurred; But they watched as their children made lives of their own, And she smiled every time that she heard; Je t’aime, Madame, je t’aime, Je t’aime, Madame, je ‘taime; Tu es mon coeur, Pour toujours et toujours, Je t’aime, Madame, je taime… One Tuesday morning in early November, Came news no-one could believe. His loss was traumatic, but he wasn’t dramatic, He decided to quietly grieve. Now he gets up each morning and goes through the motions, The way they started each day. He heads to the pier with two cups of coffee, Drinks one, and quietly says; Je t’aime, Madame, je t’aime, Je t’aime, Madame, je ‘taime; Tu es mon coeur, Pour toujours et toujours, Je t’aime, Madame, je taime…
