re: the sprite layers, as someone who extracts assets from the fictif app for meme edits, the sprites actually arent a thing. every sprite is made up of various layers that are swapped out. sage's ears are a separate sprite from his hair which is a separate sprite from his head etc. there's actually very few fully assembled sprites for any of the characters in the files. ive made the same mistake of forgetting his ears in meme edits before, so i dont rly blame alex for that

Last Legacy full weighted choices list

pokes the last legacy fandom with a stick. is this thing still alive

i wanted to share smth with yall. ive been rooting around in the last legacy assets once again, and i believe i have discovered the variable that determines which choices are weighted towards an ending (and which ending they are weighted towards)

and since at this point we're probably never going to be able to find out organically (rip nix hydra) i've created a complete list of weighted choices in all three last legacy routes, and which ending they are weighted towards, in order of appearance. under the cut for spoiler and length reasons. enjoy

NOTE that this is ONLY a list of choices that contribute to the ending (good/bad ending). choices that are weighted in other ways (such as choices that affect your relationship with side characters like rime, but that don't actually affect the ending) are not included here. if y'all are curious about that, let me know, i might make another list for those later if/when i have the time.

quick note: each choice has two variables associated with it, one that determines what effect it has on the ending (good or bad) if any, and one determining the weight that choice has. the weight of each weighted choice can be light, medium, or heavy. next to each listed choice i will include both the ending it contributes towards and it's weight.

for chapters that aren't listed, i couldn't find any weighted choices in those chapters.

edit/additional notes: the endings aren't actually listed as "good/bad" in the code; the variable that denotes effect is an integer called "choiceType" which can be 0, 1, or 2. however, this is the same system the arcana uses, and in the arcana, 0 means unweighted, 1 means upright, and 2 means reversed. this on it's own wouldn't be enough for me to assume that fictif has upright/reversed endings as well, except that in some files within last legacy the options are straight up called "upright" or "reversed" (and the ones labeled upright are marked as choiceType 1 while the ones labeled reversed are marked choiceType 2.) i chose to call them good/bad endings since upright/reversed are tarot terms that only really make sense for the arcana.

For starters, I'm going to take a slightly unique angle on this and assume that hair color changing is not that unusual in Astraea. Sure, one could argue that Rime's strawberry pink hair is as natural as his antlers, but what about Anisa? Her mother's hair appears to be solid, yet she's got those lovely streaks in her hair. So it's possible, however... I'm going to say that it isn't dye, but magic.

Imagine salons employing mages who can color your hair instantly, along with other feats, such as causing it to grow out instantly when you've tired of a short haircut. Or salons with a host of magical potions in stock that can be applied to your hair similarly to our dye and instantly causes the color to change! I imagine this is a bit more expensive than just getting a haircut, though, which might be a good way to explain the lack of such vibrant colors in Astraea - most people cannot afford it, or maybe can't access any salons with such options. Or mayhaps it's simply more common than we were led to believe!

For funsies, I'm going to say that Felix's hair is naturally a much duller shade of brown, but during his early teenage years he experimented with spells and potions to color it a bright purple to scandalize Escell, but it didn't quite work, so now it's just... got this purpleish hue to it.

It might So when you turn up with colored hair, it's the least of anyone's concerns. Forget your hair, they want to know where you came from, how you ended up here, and how to get you home!

But the thing about magically colored hair is that it doesn't quite suffer the same phases as our dye. It's either fully permanent, if one could pay enough or find a talented enough mage, or it simply fades away like magic and leaves your natural color behind. But this... this is different. The color fades, and your roots begin to show through as your hair grows out, and no one's ever seen anything quite like it before.

Once Felix finally notices, oblivious little dork that he is, his first instinct is that something is wrong - he skips straight over the possibility that you might be sick, as Sage would surely suggest, and instantly fears corruption. If magic is the thing that colors hair, then surely it must be the cause of strangely un-coloring hair as well. Think of it as an allergic reaction, of sorts; right as you start learning how to perform magic and becoming more and more proficient with it, your vibrant hair seems to wither and become dull.

It's Felix, so... he probably doesn't bring it up immediately. Instead, this loveable idiot decides to fix the problem himself, and tries dissuading you from using magic. The sudden 180 from encouraging you to study the heaviest tomes and practice until you're utterly exhausted to trying to talk you out of doing those exact things is... concerning, to say the least, and you're not that easily convinced.

One way or another, it comes out, whether it's you confronting him, Felix spilling his concerns on his own, or some knightly intervention from Anisa. You explain that your hair is dyed, and Felix freezes, assuming you meant, you know... died. Hopefully you'll explain the difference to him before he launches into a tangent of apologies.

Once he understands, however, he's on a quest to renew your hair for you. He either attempts it himself - which, as mentioned, might not have the best outcome - or he takes you to the best salon in Porrima to have your hair professionally done by a proper mage who can ensure the color will never fade again, unless of course you want a different color.

Sage has always been the teasing and joking type

Even little moves made on your part are made into dirty jokes and whether or not you buy into them- well let’s not go into that

In the rare occasion that sage invites you to sleep with him, just to share the bed, he swears.

Well you can’t really argue, especially since he didn’t try to imply anything dirty

The two of you ended up in bed and how didn’t seem to matter.

The two of you were just cuddling, you guess everyone needs a little love once in a while so you obliged.

Your eyes couldn’t help but hyper fixate on sages white hair- it looked unbearably soft

Sage seemed to have noticed and guides your hand towards his head to rest there.

“Uhhh are you sure it’s fine?” You asked as if your flinching didn’t ask that nonverbally

“I’m fine, it’s fine. I want you to” Sage makes an emphasis of this by keeping your hand tangled in his hair, but he moves away.

“You know what?” his sudden movement already got you sitting upright so he moved so his head would lay on your lap.

“There, touch me all you want” he adds with a bit of a flirtatious tone.

You can instantly feel his eyes on you, expecting you to play with his hair- even more- his ears

“Hey” he draws you out of your thoughts “I wouldn’t have.. I wouldn’t given you permission if I didn’t trust you,ok? Loosen up” he shoots you the best look he could but you still don’t miss how his eyes soften.

You let out a small “ok” and first run your hands through his hair.

You begin untangling it almost- but with how soft his hair is there isn’t much to brush through.

You absentmindedly start playing with his ears but once you notice you almost pull back-

That’s before you feel a deep purr resonate from his chest, you even felt it before you heard it.

This really gave you the confidence and so you continued with what you had been doing.

You reached and scratched behind his ear but Sage reached up and grabbed your wrist-

“Sorry! I didn’t mean to-“ Sage brought a finger to your lips and let out a laugh.

“It’s fine, really.” He sighed “just keep touching me, ok?” He sounded like his usual self but the way his voice sounded so on edge- it’s almost like he was on the verge of crying.

You smiled and traced his face, he leaned in and playfully bit at your palm but smoothed over it and kissed it back to “health”

You let out a laugh, as did he, but ultimately returned to your previous place.

Your hands smoothed over his ears and continued playing with his hair with your other hand.

His head leaned in impossibly close each time to the point he was flush against your hand.

“Sage, I’m trying to play with your hair” you said, almost in a whiney tone.

He laughed “just, come here ok?” He pulls you closer and rest his forehead against yours.

There was a small period where neither of you spoke but Sage ultimately leaned in and kissed you, his fangs lightly grazing against your bottom lip.

You let out a small laugh at that and he surprisingly picked you up so that you’d both be laying down.

All that could be heard was silence and your breath but you ultimately leaned into sage and whispered “thank you”

Sage leaned back to look at you “what for?” He tried making it flirtatious.

“For letting me, yknow “ you motioned vaguely at his ears.

“Of course I would, it’s you”

There was a post this morning on the Arcana subreddit talking about how it's been about 200 days since the Dorian acquisition, about how they're keeping the story alive (yes it's as a cash cow but it's new content) and putting out merchandise and whatever and it got me thinking,, we haven't had any Fictif content. Obviously my focus is Last Legacy but none of the stories have gotten anything new in 200 days. It would be one thing if Nix Hydra shut down entirely, but it was absorbed. Dorian could do something. Would the new content be good? Probably not. But there would be something.

Idk. I was watching something last night and one of the characters said 'bad news might stop you for a while, but hope paralyzes you forever' or something to that effect.

It's been 200 days. I just want Dorian to either cancel the stories or confirm they're working on something. This 'we're in talks about what to do' thing is just exhausting, and as far as I know there's been no updates...

You don't need Dorian for anything but probably easy live fanfiction. Don't let them trick you into thinking that you do.

⛔️ Traditionnally game studios have always locked creation tools...

✅️ The truth is - there is a number of programs that allow creation of your own visual novels. Some of them require few or no codding. They can be googled in a snap.

For example Game Maker Studio and Ren'Py: Visual Novel Engine(a free one)

⛔️ If you wanted to work on a game like The Arcana you had to work at a big studio.

✅️ The Arcana was once started by two people and developer's team grew according to it's success.

✅️ A number of The Arcana fans successfully started as gamedevs. Lunaris Games make a fine quality games, the first of them, When The Night Comes has love interests, that once were fan apprentices(100% - Ezra and Alkar).

Both Nix Hydra and Lunaris games started as cool Idea, nice art, enthusiasm and then they got a sorta-kickstarter and took off.

If you are willing to create something original and of your own you don't necessarily need a agregator platform for more than a starter.

If you are a creator, don't sell yourself cheap.

Doing something out of fandom enthusiasm is always great, but please remember that they need you more than you need them.

No matter how fondly they will ever speak of it, the main thing is - Nix Hydra is not over for nothing, they can't afford hiring fully anymore. Currently they do not offer you full payment for your work, however they plan profiting on whatever you might do, and by such messages they make you believe you are lucky with such an opportunity.

Please be aware, confident and safe, my darlings. You don't need some werid "empowerment" you are the power.

It’s so so so sad to come back after not playing Fictif and Arcana for a while to find the fandom absolutely barren… no matter what platform I search stuff up on, there’s like nothing.

I took a break around the announcement for Dorian and decided to jump back in. On one hand, really glad the original apps still work even if perhaps they’re no longer updated. I tried the Dorian app once and have absolutely no idea how the app is supposed to work… it’s super glitchy and weird.

Anyone who is still keeping up with the Arcana/Fictif… what are you guys doing? Are you engaging at all with the Dorian app or are you just replaying the available stories on the original apps?
