I think about this everyday at this point now but Klaus is giving mommy issues and Nikolay is giving daddy issues.

I honestly think Klaus’s mom would be absent from his life and he’d grown up with his father all by himself with no siblings.

While Nikolay has a verbally and occasionally physically abusive father with his 3 older sisters. His mom is just there but she can’t do anything because she’s gotten hurt already.

In case you're wondering: this is a soulmate AU (thank you Vinzenz Kiefer), but not exactly like one would expect. It's slow burn, has slight gore because war, and the perspective shifts between the Klaus and Nikolai sometimes. There are bits in (dubious) German that aren't translated and that's on purpose, and I use cheesy quotes before every chapter because I've read too much Poe in my life.

Also I made Klaus a bit of an art nerd, just a little bit... No idea why, just felt right.
