Note
Have you made a list or notes on whumpy Hallmark and if so where?🥺
You know what, I haven't yet! Let me do that for ya now. And if anyone wants to add their favs please do so!
A Gift To Remember: Darcy (Ali Liebert) hits Aiden (Peter Porte) while riding her bike and he gets knocked out and loses his memory. It’s pretty good.
Love on the Sidelines : Laurel (Emily Kinney) is a struggling fashion designer who finds herself with a job as a personal assistant for Danny (John Reardon), a quarterback sidelined with an broken ankle. Danny is on crutches for most of the movie and is recovery from his injury.
Spirit of Christmas: A young lawyer (Jen Lilley) finds romance with a spirit (Thomas Beaudoin) that takes the form of a human 12 days before Christmas. He was murdered and there are flashbacks to him being attacked and killed.
Christmas Homecoming: Stars Michael Shanks (Daniel Jackson from SG1!!) as an Army Captain recovering from an injury in battle. He's got a broken leg and suffers from survivors guilt and ptsd.
Hailey Dean Mysteries: Deadly Estate for some good poisoning whump of a medical examiner. You want unconscious? medically induced coma? respirator? bedside vigils? worry? waking up with a twitching hand? walking down the hospital floor holding onto their iv pole? Then this is the movie for you!
Love Blossoms: one small part when the main guy, Declan, gets sick with a cold during the movie. It’s kind of cute but the rest of the movie's got nothing.
Second Chances: "A badly injured leg forces fireman Jeff, who lost his father in a fire as a young boy, to rent a ground floor room during his recovery. Thus he moves in with Jenny, a 911 emergency call center operator, and her two young children, Luke and Elsie, who soon dote on him as an ideal substitute father and try matching him with their mother."
My Gal Sunday: Henry (Cameron Mattheson) gets shot in the beginning of the movie.
Signed Sealed Delivered Lost Without You: Oliver goes on a hike with his father. His dad trips and gets a seemingly innocuous injury on his leg but the two of them get lost in the woods and the injury turns out to be life threatening.
A Godwink Christmas Miracle of Love: Eric (Alberto Frezza) is run over by a plow near the end of the film. There's lots of surgery, worry, hospital stuff.
Retreat to Paradise: "Jordan is recovering from a shoulder injury and his grumpiness tempts Ellie, his carer, to leave him to his misery. But will romance finally blossom?"
The Christmas Waltz: Roman (Will Kemp) hits his head due to slipping on an icy sidewalk and has to go to hospital
Taking a Shot at Love: "Sparks fly between a ballet instructor and a professional hockey player as she tries to help him recover from the same injury that sidelined her dancing career." It's not got a lot of whump but it is about a hockey player in rehab.
Martha's Vineyard Mysteries series: The whole series. Jesse Metcalfe's character Jeff was shot on a previous case and the bullet is still in lodged in his back and it causes him pain a lot AND he continually has nightmares about the incident. It's great.
Mystery 101: Killer Timing: Travis (Kristopher Polaha) gets blown up and even though the aftermath doesn't last long its still wonderful. He gets knocked out, there's an ambulance and hospital scene (kinda), worried family members.
Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Sweater: Maggie O'Donnell (Ashley Williams) accidentally breaks Lucas Cavelli (Niall Matter)'s arm while carrying a Christmas Tree and offers him a room to stay in when he can't find a hotel room cause she feels guilty.
A Timeless Christmas: Charles Whitley (Ryan Paevey) passes out in 1903 and wakes up in 2020.
Aurora Teagarden A Bundle of Trouble: Martin Bartell (Yannick Bisson) gets shot in the shoulder
Christmas on the Range: Clint McCree (Nicholas Gonzalez) is attacked and beaten up pretty badly.
Mix Up in the Mediterranean: Josh (Jeremy Jordan)'s twin brother Julian gets hurt and can’t do a cooking competition so Josh takes over.
The Christmas Cure: Mitch (Steve Byers) falls off ladder and gets a concussion
Love's Christmas Journey: Sheriff Aaron Davis (Greg Vaughan) gets shot in the leg while chasing a robber. His injury is bad and gets infected. He gets a fever and is rescued by an old man who cares for him. The wound needs cauterizing and he suffers fever, chills, and more.
Hearts in the Game: Diego Vasquez (Marco Grazinni) is a hot shot baseball pitcher who has a panic attack during a game which costs the team the game. Turns out it was triggered by the anniversary of his moms death and he has another panic attack later in the movie as well.
Fourth Down in Love is about an athlete who is sidelined by an injury. Broken ribs I think?
Rip in Time: Another fun time travel movie. Rip (Niall Mater) gets knocked out at least once.
Three Wise Men and a Baby: Paul Campbell's character has social anxiety and has a sort of panic attack in the park at the beginning of the movie.
Jolly Good Christmas: Will Kemp's character falls into a frozen river and he comes out shaking and shivering and she gets him a blanket and tea and he needs a hot shower.
That's all I've got for right now. The bolded ones have the best whump in my opinion so definitely check those out first :) Love's Christmas Journey and the Martha's Vineyard Mysteries are A+ whump hallmark movies. Do those first ;)

Oi oi, caros e amados booklovers!

ALISON SWEENEY AND VICTOR WEBSTER TAKE A GRECIAN GETAWAY WITH LACEY CHABERT, AUTUMN REESER AND JANE ASHER IN ‘THE WEDDING VEIL JOURNEY,’ A NEW, ORIGINAL MOVIE PREMIERING JANURARY 21, ON HALLMARK CHANNEL
Part of the Network’s “New Year New Movies” Programming Event Filmed on Location in Greece
STUDIO CITY, CA – January 17, 2022 – Alison Sweeney (“Chronicle Mysteries,” ”Hannah Swenson Mysteries”), Victor Webster (“Workin’ Moms,” “A Christmas Cookie Catastrophe”), Lacey Chabert (“Party of Five,” “Haul out the Holly”) and Autumn Reeser (“Entourage,” “The O.C.”) return in “The Wedding Veil Journey,” a new, original movie premiering January 21, 2023 (8 p.m. ET/PT), on Hallmark Channel, as part of the network’s “New Year, New Movies” programming event. Jane Asher (Death at a Funeral, I Give It a Year) also stars. The movie was filmed partly on location in Greece.
In the third movie of the sequel trilogy, Tracy (Sweeney) is now head of the auction house, and Nick’s (Webster) restaurant is doing so well that he’s looking at expanding. Their success leaves the couple so little time together, they have yet to decide where to take their long overdue honeymoon, but finally settle on Greece. When a travel delay leaves them without a hotel room, they end up staying on a beautiful, secluded island at a fledgling inn run by capable local Tessa (Katerina Geronikolou, Moonstruck) and her well-meaning, if bungling brother Xander (Alexander Nicolaou, “Casualty”). When Nick discovers that Xander is filling in as chef, despite his cooking being unpalatable, he cannot help but to lend a hand in the kitchen. Tracy meanwhile meets Leo (newcomer Ché Grant), a charming boy from a nearby boarding school, whose artistic talents are only rivaled by his knack for getting into trouble. Tracy cannot shake the feeling that Leo needs her help but finds her interventions unwelcomed by the school’s headmaster (Andreas Karras, Crooked House). Soon Tracy encounters a mystery when elegant Lady Dalton (Asher) and her grandson Colin (Nicholas Banks, Kingsman: The Secret Service) check in. Inexplicably, the veil – which Tracy had brought along to give to Nick’s sister – keeps winding up in Colin’s room. With sparks flying between Colin and Tessa, even skeptical Tracy may finally have to admit there’s something to the veil’s legend. As they spend time on the island, Tracy and Nick may also find that, though their honeymoon isn’t exactly what they had pictured, it might just be exactly what they need.
“The Wedding Veil” is from Front Street Pictures Productions. Beth Grossbard, Lisa Demberg, Lacey Chabert and Alison Sweeney are executive producers. Harvey Kahn, Juliet Smith and Phillip Roth are co-executive producers. Allen Lewis and Maria Komninos are supervising producers, and Sepideh Merchant, James Jope and Valerie Biggin are associate producers. Charles Cooper is producer. Ron Oliver directed from a script by Karen Berger, inspired by the book There Goes the Bride by Lori Wilde and based on characters created by Judith Berg & Sandra Berg.

FP3: Russell leads Hamilton as Mercedes claim 1-2 during final practice in Mexico City
George Russell edged out team mate Lewis Hamilton as Mercedes occupied the top two positions in Saturday’s final practice session for the Mexico City Grand Prix – sending a clear message to rivals Red Bull and Ferrari before qualifying. Russell produced a blistering time of 1m 18.399s – more than one-and-a-half seconds quicker than his Friday benchmark – in another bright and warm session at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, ending up 0.144s clear of Hamilton. READ MORE: 5 things we learned from Friday practice at the Mexico City Grand Prix Max Verstappen and Red Bull were Mercedes’ nearest challengers, but the Dutchman – almost half a second off the pace – was left to rue a “terrible” first sector during an early lap on soft tyres and “the same problem again” at the start of his second run, which prompted him to back off, recharge and have another go. Behind, the Ferraris of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz took P4 and P6 respectively, sandwiching the other Red Bull of home favourite Sergio Perez, who sparked roars in the grandstands every time he completed a lap. 1 George Russell RUS Mercedes 1:18.399 2 Lewis Hamilton HAM Mercedes +0.144s 3 Max Verstappen VER Red Bull Racing +0.477s 4 Charles Leclerc LEC Ferrari +0.724s 5 Sergio Perez PER Red Bull Racing +0.842s As per the United States, FP3 marked a valuable final hour of track time ahead of qualifying, with five drivers sitting out first practice for rookies and second practice dedicated to further evaluation of Pirelli’s prototype 2023 tyres. Behind the Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari cars, Lando Norris was next up for McLaren, as Alfa Romeo’s Valtteri Bottas, AlphaTauri’s Yuki Tsunoda and the Williams of Alex Albon rounded out the top 10 positions. READ MORE: Vettel displays special helmet in tribute to Dietrich Mateschitz ahead of Mexico City GP Alpine pair Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso were 11th and 13th respectively, split by the second Alfa Romeo of Zhou Guanyu, with Daniel Ricciardo down in 14th, some eight-tenths slower than team mate Norris. Pierre Gasly (AlphaTauri) and Lance Stroll (Aston Martin) were next on the timesheets, the former surviving a trip across the grass and the latter picking up a fine for pit lane speeding. Perez was cheered around his home circuit by the sell-out crowd during final practice Mick Schumacher had a wild spin through the esses in the early stages, but managed to keep it out of the wall to recover and take P17, three places and seven-tenths quicker than Haas team mate Kevin Magnussen, who is braced for an engine grid penalty. Nicholas Latifi wound up 18th in the other Williams, with Sebastian Vettel 19th, ahead of the aforementioned Magnussen, after complaining of a “shocking” balance at the wheel of his Aston Martin. The Notebook. Theater Review.
Upload ImageEmbed VideoUnsplash image
Click to update image
"The Notebook" is based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Nicholas Sparks. The 2004 movie was directed by Nick Cassavetes, from a screenplay by Jeremy Leven and Jan Sardi. In its current Broadway production, the book is by Bekah Brunstetter and the music and lyrics is by Ingrid Michaelson.
The musical has two directors: four time Tony nominee Michael Greif and Schele Williams who is making a Broadway debut. Williams is also going to be directing the highly anticipated "The Wiz" which is opening in April.
In the current musical we get three Noah's and three Allie's... younger, middle and older. For the most part the six are good; I thought that the younger Allie (Jordan Tyson) was woefully miscast. Where Allie came from money, was a proper girl, this younger Allie ex-hued none of that. More like an inner city persona, Tyson was just not believable.
In Brett J. Banakis gorgeous set design we get a wonderful slide movement throughout the two hours fifteen minutes.Equally as effective is the sound by Nevin Steinberg and the costumes by Paloma Young. The effective orange and blue lighting by Ben Stanton too made the mood well in tune with the plot.
The musical for the most part was very similar to the movie, two young people fall deeply in love with one another and even though ten years has gone by, they never stop thinking of each other. The key to the musicals success is that the three different sets of Noah and Allie need to all be effective. Whereas Maryann Plunkett as the elder and Dorian Harewood as the husband are excellent, we get the best interaction between Joy Woods and Ryan Vasquez, the middle aged actors; their singing and body language is captivating. The two are silky smooth on stage! Even though John Cardoza holds up his end as the younger Noah, it is Tyson who is an anchor around his neck. Even though Tyson has a very good singing voice, her Broadway debut falls flat.
The two opening scenes, both first act and second act fire on all cylinders. It is the second act, however, where this show excels. The songs, the pace and the story all come together nicely. Songs like "We Have To Try", "Forever", "It's Not Easy", "I Know" and "Coda" were all well sung songs; the lyrics too were catchy and fit the moment of the plot. The first act too had some nice songs: "Time", "Leave The Light On", "If This Is Love" were most memorable. Having some great moments in the first act, it still didn't compare the the afternoons second act.
For the romantics out there, "The Notebook" is for the most part an entertaining show. The choreography (Katie Spelman) is underwhelming, as is some of the ensemble cast. Allie's parents: Andrea Burns and Charles E. Wallace are not moving in their parts. Burns was much more effective in her role as nurse Lori.Neither actor brought depth as parents to Allie, they were mostly robotic and aloof.
.....................................................................................................................
Next up is Water for Elephants at The Imperial Theatre. This musical is based on the circus and maybe a real sleeper when it comes a show that may just wow the audience.
Since many good shows have opened but unexpectedly closed in a rather quick fashion (Spamelot, Days of Wine and Roses, Shucked), this musical may surprise to the upside.
It seems that shows that aren't unanimously well received, and in Shucked case was, are closing with not spending much time on the great white way.
#Broadway Bob, #Tony Awards, #The Notebook, #New York City.
