what if we've been wrong about eliot being the kinda guy who thinks don't shit where you eat logic of not dating your crew? eliot has consistently been shown he is willing to sleep with folks close to the con: kaye lynn (the studio job), mikel dayan, maria shipp, tabatha delavega (the low low price job), and lupe the hot "nun." he expresses attraction to tara and (obliquely in s1) arguably sophie. the only reason he stops flirting with maggie is because she's nates ex and bro code. then theres paul orozco. (shelley is a gay but they were incompatible so just a friend.) and obviously he had his toxic epic whirlwind that was life with moreau, the definition of squatting down in one's dining room.

imo a person who would use that phrase earnestly wouldn't get this close to people involved with their work (kaye lynn is a very damning example since they made out in the middle of the job). like, not to the extent of rejecting parker and hardison on just that premise? maybe you can argue that after something like moreau (and yes, yall, im not giving the option for no m/e here), that wrecked his comfort around True Crew versus the Person Of The Week

(tbh i think out of the three, if hardison had been older, maybeeeee he would have some reservations. but there's nothing canon to say that; i just think any queer person who is in a dnd group or WoW guild would learn to pause over messing with dynamics)

The Frat!Peter Cinematic Universe (F!PCU)

Okay I mentioned a couple days ago that I made moodboards for the characters in my Frat!Peter fics and some of y'all wanted the line up so here we go. I originally wrote little blurbs for them but I wasn't a huge fan of them so this is just the moodboards with their names, majors, their top song currently and how I picture them when I write them. But if you'd like to know about anymore about them though I'd love to discuss.

Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield)

I was rewatching Leverage: Redemption with my girlfriend, and had a sudden thought about the Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist AU - when Elliot starts hanging out with Maria Shipp in the AU, Parker starts worrying that maybe he wants a more “normal” relationship than the one that she and Hardison can provide him. And then the Hurricane Job happens, and Maria is flirting with Elliot during all the chaos, and Elliot launches into “Shut Up And Fish” by Maddie and Tae in the song space, and Parker realizes that Elliot is ABSOLUTELY not romantically interested in Maria.

Ok first of all, this delights me for so many reasons: A) I didn't know this song existed until now and I'm cackling because B) we know that Eliot thinks that fishing with someone he loves is THEE epitome of romance but you know who doesn't know that? Parker, because she wasn't there when Nate heard Eliot singing about his love for Hardison fishing all those years ago in his kitchen, and in the past 10 years since, she hasn't gone out with them on the one, maybe two times that Eliot's convinced Hardison to go again, so she doesn't hear him sing it then either (although, if she were there, he totally would be singing "fishing in the dark", that's just fact lol).

So maybe she doesn't know about this very specific fantasy of his, but she does know Eliot and she's gotten very good over the years at interpreting the meaning behind the heartsongs she hears, so......

(also, I don't know if you were specifying that the ot3 were in a relationship or if you were sticking to canon, but when I was thinking about this ask today I kept thinking of it in terms of canon and this waffly non-relationship they seem to be in, so)

Poor Parker is having this weird "I'm gonna crawl out of my skin" type of feeling, and she doesn't really understand it. Sure, she feels like a drowned rat and the hotel they're in is swarming with corrupt cops so no wonder, but that's not it. Not really.

When she looks over and sees Eliot and Maria standing close, scheming up some sort of plan (without her), it's very....couple-y. She tries not to get distracted with wondering why she feels that way. It's not because she dislikes Maria, and if Eliot trusts her then she can trust her, she guesses. Parker's not gonna tell Eliot who to spend his time with.

(He hasn't spend any time with her, lately.........huh. *skin crawling intensifies*).

Eliot does eventually make his way back over, wordlessly asking her with a specific look if all's good on her end, and she's distracted for a moment by country music that's starting to play through the room to give a reply, so she nods for him to follow her around the corner and through the kitchen door (it's still playing, but vaguely muted).

"I have the mics wired above the cops' rooms," she tells him.

"S'good," he replies, "anything been said yet?"

"No." She shivers a little and pulls at the wet fabric sticking to her neck.

"You alright?"

"Yeah," she says dismissively, though it isn't true. She feels icky. "What are you and the marshal doing?"

"Maria thinks we'll get somewhere if we wait it out a bit".

There's something hesitant there, and she doesn't really want to get in the middle of it, but she asks anyway, "Well what do you think?"

"S'fine, Honestly though, I could tell pretty fast she has more than just bass on her mind."

She's about to ask what that means, but then the music that's been muted suddenly is all around them from no particular source, and all at once she realizes the source is actually Eliot when he sings:

♫Oh I was fishing, she was wishing we were kissing, I was getting madder than a hornet in an old Coke can ♫

Parker blinks and wordlessly watches him slide up beside her.

♫ Getting closer, sliding over, crowding up my casting shoulder, reaching out and tryna hold my reeling hand♫

There's warmth now where he's pressed into her, a familiar kind but not one she's felt lately as he puts an arm around her shoulder.

♫And saying I'm pretty, saying she's in love, and how it don't get any better than this♫

It leaves just as quickly as he pulls away, sliding away again.

♫I say yeah it could girl, if you would shut up and fish♫

The song ends just as abruptly as it began, and Eliot runs a hand through his hair, slightly agitated. "You know?"

Well.....no. He sang through what he was saying in reality, so she doesn't know, but she nods anyway.

"I can do a perimeter check in the vents," she says, not sure how well that lines up with their plans.

"Sounds good."

When they part ways and she climbs into the nearest vent, she takes a moment to orient herself, and to think about the heartsong. And how warm Eliot is, even soaking wet.

"He really likes fishing," she giggles to herself, suddenly feeling far less icky than she had been.

For some reason.

I think Maria Shipp is an interesting character and the actor did pretty well, not sure how I feel about her and Eliot’s relationship (that much not knowing each other for an ongoing period probably not a good foundation) but I did notice that there’s a big difference in the way they worked her into the season compared to past reoccurring characters.

Granted this is probably purely because they’re doing a romance thing so don’t take this as a significant meaningful critique.

It’s just, think of the way reoccurring characters, ones that appear more than twice, came up in the original series. Sterling, McSweeten, and Maggie are probably the main ones, I think Chaos comes up 3 times so I suppose he can be included and I have no recollection of how often Bonanno shows up but must be at least 3 times. The point I’m getting to is these characters appear what, two or three times a season tops? I’m not sure what the exact numbers are because I’m not invested enough to pull up an episode list, but despite being important when they do show up (Maggie and Sterling. McSweeten goes up and down) they still only come occasionally. Maria is in at least 4 episodes in one season. The only character in the original I can think of like that was the Italian, and that was because she blackmailed them into taking down Moreau. Like I said it’s probably because they’re doing a romance but it’s just a thing I noticed.

Also, it took 3 whole seasons for the 2 couples in the team to get together, arguably four for Sophie and Nate, and we still see them have relationship trials after. It’s very slow burn. So maybe part of the weirdness I’m getting from Maria and Eliot is just that it felt rushed in comparison.

Edit: I completely forgot Alexandra Bligh! So 3 characters I can think of that reoccur multiple times in a single season, and one’s a flat-out apathetic villain, one well we don’t know her deal but there was blackmail and sketchy diamonds involved, and one’s a weirdly done love interest.

I still have no idea what this says about anything

The 4th annual Grizzly Awards will stream live on YouTube on March 25, featuring performances by Zahna, Nate Parrish and Rusty Shipp. Special segments will be presented by Petra’s John Schlitt and Disciple’s Joey West. “We’re so excited to welcome talented individuals from across this beautiful, diverse family of faith-based rock and metal,” the Grizzly Awards cofounders share. “Every performance is truly of the highest caliber. We have a few special segments that will hopefully be both meaningful and fun. And we can’t wait to see the community that we know will be engaging in the comments! Every one of you is a part of the night too.” In addition to performances and other special features, the evening will include winner announcements for categories honoring 2022 releases. Although fan voting established who will take home the trophies this year, the evening is designed to be a celebration of heavy music as a whole, and everyone who released new songs in 2022. Sophie: "So, when are you going to see her again? Your Marshal?"

Eliot: "What - it's - I wouldn't hold your breath."

Sophie: "Ah. It's just- you know, my whole life changed when the right person arrested me."

Eliot: "Yeah, Sophie -" [is cut off by his phone buzzing with a text from M, saying Hi hun! He quickly shoves the phone back in his pocket and walks away] "It's not like that."

[Sophie smiles knowingly and follows him]

Hm. ....hm, don't like this.

Everything else in the episode I can read as Eliot conning Shipp, and the team just teasing him because it's funny. But this interaction seems genuine on Sophie's part. She offers up a comparison to Nate and her; I don't think she'd do that in service of a joke! Which tells me either thiefsome isn't a thing, or Sophie doesn't know they are. And why the hell would she not know?

...don't like it.

#leverage redemption s1b summary spoilers & episode speculation: the amount of wildly discordant whining im doing over @lookatallthefandoms pointing out eliot with wet curly hair in the hurricane job is obscene like!!!!! just think: you have parker and eliot trapped with a bunch of crooked cops and the marshal. hunted and squeezed in by a chaos no amount of strong arming eliot can manage can get parker (and yeah sure, himself) out of this situation. after years of just managing the crews, its near a shock to be reminded how little the world can give a shit about providing comfort; its cold and wet and plaid sticking every joint; its every once cracked now healed rib aching with every breath; its running around hypervigilant of every sound instead of sinking under a starchy blanket at parker's side. its the soaked heaviness of his knit beanie that he hasnt even folded the bottom hem of because he wants as much covered as possible. that little bit of fabric is a shield against the inevitability of the mess of his curls, the mess of the life he left behind when he left moreau (who loved his curls, who slipped fingers into spirals and laughed that the coil was the perfect size of his ring finger, isn't that funny, spencer, my pet?). its been over fifteen years and still he burns his hair straight day in, day out, each swipe over his hair a step forward running away from all of what he once was.

because thing is, he got so much of his soul back under nate's watch, with sophie's care, and alongside hardison and parker's love. but that's a part he never is gonna get back; the comfort of letting his hair go natural (but nothing natural about the way it was cared for, once, by that man that man who treasured them curls like his gold bars that man who asked/told/ordered eliot to grow his hair long just to see eliot figure out how to bend away from attackers' grubby paws). luckily he's got hardison's bleeding heart specially ordered organic line of strengthening and heat protective hair products, but his special conditioner aint gonna do shit against a goddamn hurricane's moisture, wont it?

so he keeps his wet beanie down down down covering his eyebrows and he wont let maria shipp see his vulnerable curls; she's so like him, huh? even up to the hair twisting waves too, huh? (there's a dreamy regretful part of him that looks to her and wonders... is that me without the haunt of moreau? is that me if i went cop instead of soldier? he wants to know her just to know the himself he would never get to meet, not without a foil a mirror a peek into an alternate life he also would never want because without it, without the way he's been twisted up inside, he wouldn't have what he has now... a family, a life, the love of the smartest man he will ever know in any timeline and the love of a thief who so carefully broke into his heart with the gentlest hands and the silliest laugh). eliots got his fucking wet beanie on and hes got his curls and hes gonna figure this shit out and he'll get parker out of this mess and maybe he'll walk away with a friend, too.

and the second they can manage, he's going to hand over his flat iron to parker and have her flatten his hair again because his hands tremble too much from the pain of the wet damp and the memories of who/what they once touched/held/choked/bled.

hello idk where to put this so I am sending it to you since I sent you that long ask about the marshal dynamic.

a conversation between Sophie and Eliot - same feel as the tap out job. I think Eliot respects Sophie in a way that allows him to feel comfortable being more vulnerable with her. plus, he knows she could read right through him either way. this takes place in an au where Sophie knows about the ot3 and the “your marshal” conversation was her getting at something deeper. also an au where Sophie has seen Eliot and the Marshal interact. idk I am grasping at threads I am stressed. I also cannot write Sophie to save my life. I am sorry.

Eliot approaches Sophie after everyone else has gone to bed, still turning over the cryptic words she said in his head. “You told me your whole life changed when the right person arrested you. Why?”

Sophie nods. “Because I see the way you look at her.”

Eliot can’t help himself bristle sliglhty, “I know you ain’t suggesting I leave Parker and Hardison, so what were you gettin at?”

Sophie scoffs, “Yes, I fell in love with Nate, but that was almost as an afterthought. He changed the course of my life. I was a little lost before him, always looking for the next score - it was fun, don’t get me wrong. But I never was able to look at the big picture until Nate showed me the way. I was never played the white knight before he forced me into the role.”

“The hell you think we’re doin, I might be gettin old but I can still kick a rich asshat down. Ain’t looking for a change.”

Sophie thinks for a minute. “Hardison has gotten really good at explaining the redemption process… without saying you still refuse to believe you can be redeemed.”

“I’ve known I was going to hell since I was 18 and started following bad men’s orders.” Eliot stumbles over the admission.

“You know you see yourself in the Marshal, don’t you?”

“Why, cause she nearly kicked my ass?”

“No, because she is you.” Eliot grumbles, but listens. Sophie’s using that soft but voice that says she knows she needs to tread lightly but that she won’t budge.

“You still hide your intelligence well, Eliot. But you and I both know that enlisting when you were 18 wasn’t your only choice.”

“Sure felt like it at the time.”

“I know. But try to imagine, just for a moment. You were never going to stay a small town hardware store owner, but what if you went to the academy? The cop role would be easy for you to fall into. University–“

Eliot scrunches his face up.

“Don’t look at me like that, I know you like to read. As I was saying… a degree or two, you would have made detective, or branched off into the Marshal service…”

“If I never had’ve gotten my hands dirty… never worked for Moreau,” Eliot sighs out the last words, tiptoeing over the name.

“Damien Moreau was a cruel man, but he did not break you, you proved that. You survived him.”

Eliot doesn’t agree but he doesn’t fight the admiration in Sophie’s voice. “I would be a very different man.”

“Maybe one that looks a lot like Maria Shipp.”

“I don’t want to be her, if that’s what you’re sayin. I wouldn’t be - I wouldn’t have any of the good in my life now - I wouldn’t have met you and Nate - I wouldn’t’ve found Parker and Alec… I ain’t got the time or willpower to regret everything I had to do to get me here.”

“I’m glad you can recognize that. But that doesn’t mean you can’t look at her and wonder who you could have been if you hadn’t been through so much pain.”

“That pain made me.”

“It’s not that simple, you know that. You let yourself stay separate, still, even from them.” *

Eliot winces at the accusation. But he knows his cover was blown the moment the trio showed up in Boston. There was no hiding from Sophie Devereaux.

She continues, “Engage in the curiosity, if you want to get to know the Marshal. Maybe it will help you see that you are worth the love you are given. You can die thinking you’re going to hell, but one day, you should get around to learning that the people who hold your heart see a very different version of you.”

Leverage: Redemption

There will be spoilers. Massive spoilers. Plus some angry ranting. Short answer is I loved it and I so hope they decide on a second season.

Let's get the angry ranting out the way.

1. Some folks are acting religious with their hate for Maria Shipp. Knock it off. I loved her, and not as a romantic thing for Eliot, but more of who she is as an individual. She's someone that has her own convictions, beliefs, and boundaries that she will not cross. Her and Eliot were good for each other right now, but as a forever thing? No. Her being there does not mean that OT3 was being shat on. If anything, it only confirmed it further because the only ones that Eliot could open up to freely are Hardison and Parker. With all the hate on her for some stupid reasons, I honestly want to see more of her to spite the haters. Eliot needs a cop friend too, just like Hardison and Parker have Taggert & McSweeten. For those of you shitting on her because of copaganda, copaganda has always existed in Leverage. It's just that they've also balanced it with a fuck the cops attitude too. Stop it.

2. The OT3 not being explicitly in the text is not queerbaiting. Those saying that shit is fucking wrong. We've gotten more queer rep from this one season than we've gotten from many, many other shows that don't even hit the bar. Please knock it off with that shit. They didn't destroy the OT3. It is still safe, as promised.

3. For those that mourn the loss of Nathan Ford, I'm going to need you all to recognize that killing him off was the right choice, both for the story and for behind-the-scenes reasons. Nate was my favorite too, but his death was the right choice. I'm not seeing that much here on Tumblr, but on Reddit? Hoo boy... *sigh*

Now that the angry is done, let's talk about the good.

1. Harry Wilson is such a delight for a character and I adore him. He has done some really, really shady and terrible shit, yet he's trying so hard to do good. If it were another actor in the role instead of Noah Wyle, it would not have been as good or convincing as the lawyer looking for redemption after causing so many, many issues with his policy of no sides picked. While I am sad that he is leaving the crew to be a better, nicer lawyer, I do hope he comes back to do consulting work. Everyone needs a little Fixer in their lives.

2. Breanna is a darling and I am so glad that we have her. Watching her grow and improve has been an amazing journey. If there is a second season, I so hope we not only get more of her, but I also hope she continues her relationship with Emily. They are just the cutest couple!

3. The team from Leverage: Con Artists being canon to the Leverage universe is just such a happy, happy thing and now gives me a reason to watch it, if only to know the context.

4. The Great Train Job needs to come with a trigger warning because that beginning intro was not even remotely OK for folks that are coming into it blind. Yet that was the episode that gave me the most satisfaction (besides The Harry Wilson Job) in watching the mark getting utterly destroyed.

5. The Bucket Job is by far the sweetest episode out of the whole season. That episode is just pure magic, from start to finish. Definitely one my top 3 for the entire season.
