So we all remember the almost tragedy of marinette getting briefly akumatized in ladybug. I realized it never showed how Adrien reacted to this, so I made my own conclusion (in the form of a short fic of course) please remember i do not write, literally ever so uh enjoy my garbage debut fan fiction.
——————————————————————————
His heart dropped when he saw Marinettes face. Although he knew she was being falsely accused, that didn’t stop the rest of the class from viewing her as the monster Lila depicted her as. It seemed almost ironic how they believed her so fast. Marinette was their friend, class rep, and biggest supporter all in one! She was the freaking everyday ladybug for crying out loud. Lila had never done anything to prove her loyalty and yet still won the hearts of everyone around her.
Adrien offered his friend a small smile trying to show he believed her above all else, hoping she could gain some sense of security from the tiny gesture. Her eyes shined with tears while she searched the room for a friendly face before landing on him once again. She looked desperate for reassurance but he had already tried, only for mr.Damocles to harshly shut him out. The young girl didn’t say anything more to defend herself when she walked towards the exit. She didn’t have to, her silence spoke volumes to him. Mari was betrayed and truly heartbroken that after everything no one trusted her. With her back facing the crowd of people in the locker room she sighed and opened the door in front of her.
Usually Adrien was really good at picking up on immediate threats. His other persona had leaked into his civilian life in many small ways such as hearing far better than an average person, or seeing better in the dark than any of his friends. However in the second Marinette opened the door and he picked up on the sound of wings beating outside it, he realized his enhanced civilian senses didn’t do much if he was distracted.
Moths coloured in a deep red fluttered violently into the room. Scarlett was everywhere you looked. A vicious feeling in his stomach made him feel sick with worry. Gazing through the chaos he saw some of his classmates being reakumatized. ‘okay Adrien don’t panic, it’s no big deal you can fix this. You’ve fought them before’. The boy was ready to find a place to call on his transformation when he saw it. It made sense, she was standing at the front of it all and had very valid reasons to be upset. Still seeing sweet innocent Marinette with the burning red outline of a moth on her face while she stared off into space lit a rage inside of him he hadn’t felt before.
A small nudge in his shirt pocket made him tear his gaze from the unruly sight laid before him. Plaggs wide green eyes had a new sense of urgency. Now he was really starting to worry, usually the small kwami would whine and actually hold him up for a few minutes at the beginning of attacks. “Why worry your blue haired girlfriend can cover it, besides i’m hungry!” was a direct quote from the cheese loving monster. As well as when Nino was akumatized Adrien had actually been influenced by his friend to let it continue. The point being Plagg was a constant bad influence, so why did he care so much now?
The screams of his peers brought his eyes back up to the general room. Quickly he looked back to Marinette and Mrs.Dupain-Cheng. Marinettes expression had twisted into something sinister. It pained him to see her like this. ‘I have to transform now, I can save her before she causes any damage’. Before he could sneak away to find a safe place she nodded, her evil smile growing wider by the second.
Everything about this was disturbing and extremely confusing. Plaggs small paws still rapidly hitting his chest as a lame attempt to recapture his attention didn’t help with that last part at all. But the most confusing action of them all was what his friend did next. She remained facing forward looking almost triumphant as she removed her hands from her side and reached for her earring. Suddenly it all stopped as soon as it began. All the akuma affects wore off, almost like a spell had been broken. The teen girls arms fell limply to her sides before returning to her ears in a protective manner. Utter terror written across her face.
He wasted no time in rushing to her aid. His feet carried him to her before he realized he was moving. The tears that had previously been glazing her eyes now streamed down her face. “Oh Mari, shh I got you” his arms engulfed her tiny frame in a large hug. He held her for as long as he could before she was ushered out of the room. The attack didn’t change the schools decision about her. She would still be expelled from Francois Dupont. He couldnt hug that problem away.
Later that night Adrien was still bothered by the whole occurrence. None of his questions had been answered. “Hey Plagg, why were you so worried today?” He didn’t recognize his own voice at first. It sounded too fragile to belong to him. “I wasn’t worried just concerned I hadn’t eaten enough to deal with a mass akumatization is all” Plagg waved a paw in Adriens direction as if to shue off any suspicion. He watched his kwami nonchalantly organize his cheese fridge. “You didn’t get that worried on hero’s day. Also why was Marinette so protective of her ears afterwards? anybody who came to close to her upper half made her flinch until she left the building”. Plagg sighed obviously impatient with his chosen. “Hey kid have you ever heard that curiosity killed the cat”. Plaggs voice was judging. Adrien scoffed, “I’m not a real cat”. “maybe i’d like you better if you were”. The boy playfully gasped and ponited an accusing finger at the kwami. “I thought I was your favourite Chat Noir” Plagg shrugged and zipped off to the loft, with three pieces of camembert stuffed in his tiny arms.
Everyone was stressed and tired from the days events, so he decided to let the kwami of destruction be. Besides he could wait a little while longer before getting answers. First he would help Marinette the best he could. With that thought, he picked up his phone and dialed Lila’s number. “Hey, can you meet me tomorrow? we need to have a chat”.

Social codes
I should think this counts under crack fic. Although this wasn’t based off an episode, I realize this reminds me of Big Time Secret. Takes place during Chat Blanc right after Marinette dumps Adrien.
Adrien’s warning surprises Marinette but she flees to the subway and escapes the akuma. Adrien follows her downstairs and transforms out of sight, he cataclysms the butterfly.
Adrien texts Marinette, who was about to transform, that the butterfly has been handled by Chat Noir. Marinette does not reply or respond to any of his calls.
Heartbroken, Adrien gets Alya to help him learn why Marinette broke up with him. Nino is currently with Adrien.
Alya agrees to help because she is so surprised and curious. Why would Marinette break up with her dream boy? (Not to mention after all the work Alya invested in their relationship, and having to listen to Marinette moan about her love life, Alya feels kind of cheated that all that would be for nothing.)
Alya leaves their phone call open as she interrogates a sobbing Marinette.
“The *sniff* the other day, Mr Agreste came to the bakery. *sob* He said I was ruining the Gabriel Agreste brand image and that I had to break up with Adrien or...or he would pull Adrien out of school!” she falls back into sobbing.
Adrien is stunned. Their BFFs are furious.
When Marinette explains that she couldn’t tell Adrien because he would confront his dad and get pulled from school, she begs Alya to keep it from Adrien.
Alya guiltily turns off her phone.
Adrien is stunned and very pale.
Nino is sympathetic and sorry for his friends, but also angry at Gabriel. Banning him from the house and refusing to let Adrien have a birthday party is one thing. But blackmailing his son’s innocent Girlfriend to break up with Adrien is another.
Nino gets reakumatized into Bubbler via his glasses. He doesn’t have a weapon. Bubbles just appear when he visualizes them.
Bubbler orders the bubbles to go after the adults again.
When he goes to Marinette to tell her the problem has been solved, Marinette’s alarm is derailed and she asked who told him that.
“Did Alya tell you that? Ugh! Does she tell you everything I told her? What happened to the girl code?”
Tumblr media
Bubbler realized he messed up. He decides to send a ranting Marinette in a bubble to go join Adrien. Hopefully his bro can cool his angry ex-Girlfriend down.
Too bad Chat Noir was present when his Best Friend got akumatized. (The Bubbler left Adrien alone, with the promise that he’s Adrien’s wingman and will ensure Adrien and Marinette will get the happily ever after his bro keeps talking about.)
Marinette turns into Ladybug and summons a lucky charm. A magnet. She uses it to stick to a metal pole till Chat frees her. They both hide and wait to discharge.
Ladybug’s anger has cooled and her sadness has returned. Chat asks her what is wrong but she is unsure whether she should tell him.
Chat: I’m always here for you Milady. You know I would never betray your secrets.
At that Marinette sobs again. “I have to break up with my Boyfriend because his father won’t allow it. And it’s not fair because I haven’t done anything wrong!”
Children crying snaps Marinette out of her funk and she pulls herself together.
Fight yada yada yada. Timers prevent Chat from further talk with Ladybug.
When Nino is deakumatized, he comes across Marinette confronting Alya and she is furious to know Alya pulled a 3-way conversation on her. Does privacy mean nothing to the journalist?
Nino just got rescued and now his Girlfriend looks like she wants to murder him. Where’s an akuma when you actually want one?
“What’s next? Does Adrien tell you my secrets too?” This is to Nino.
Nino is freaking out and starts babbling. (Hell hath no fury like a Marinette). “No, no, dudette. Adrien has never spilled any secrets. He only asked me for advice. You know, like about Kagami and how to get you to accept expensive gifts, you know like that charm bracelet...”
Alya shuts Nino up who realizes belatedly he should have kept his mouth closed, but not before he reveals that Adrien told embarrassing moments on their dates that Marinette had wished confidential.
Marinette is mortified. “You know, breaking up with Adrien doesn’t feel so bad now because right now I can’t face any of you.”
Marinette runs up to her room to cry into her pillow, feeling betrayed and mortified. Nino is left to face the wrath of Alya.
Nino’s brain: meep
Later, Nino facechats Adrien and warns him that things got messed up.
“I’ve got good news for you. Marinette’s not breaking down now over your break up.”
Adrien perked up, “Did she find a loophole?” If anyone could find a way, it was his Lady.
Nino winced. “It’s more like she feels better about breaking up with you after you broke the Boyfriend code?”
Adrien was confused and cursed his homeschooling. “The what?”
“Yeah, Marinette’s not happy about some of the stuff you told me about. Apparently they were supposed to be just between the two of you.”
Adrien is confused before Nino’s earlier words settled in. Marinette was happy about breaking up with him? Why? Adrien was panicked. “Can’t Alya help us?”
Nino sulked, “Can’t. She’s mad at me because I broke the Boyfriend code too, and now Marinette’s mad at her for breaking the Best Friend code.”
Adrien was confused. Too many codes. “Slow down and break it down for me please.”
After Nino does so, Adrien regrets Chat’s words to Ladybug. He did betray his princess’ secrets. Adrien starts sobbing dramatically into his pillow.
Plagg rolls his eyes. Kids these days. He eats his cheese and offers some as consolation to the inconsolable Adrien.
The next day, the girls ignored Nino’s hopeful smile and Adrien’s kitten eyes. Alya just got back into Marinette’s good graces by giving her those pens with invisible ink that only show up in blue light.
Nino makes it up to Alya by proclaiming he got her an interview with Chat Noir. (Thank you Adrien!) Nino just assumes Adrien has connections and uses them. I mean Marinette got Alya that private interview with Ladybug...
Adrien is in a funk and it clearly affects his work and studies. When Gabriel threatens to pull him out of school, Adrien retorts that is his threat for everything, so what is the next threat once that carries out?
Gabriel doesn’t want to deal with teenage drama and instructs Nathalie to handle it.
Nathalie figures out Adrien is depressed that Marinette has broken up with him and this leads him to not care about anything else.
The evidence was obvious: she found Adrien staring dreamily at a shrine he dedicated to his Girlfriend. As well as stuffing his face full of the bakery’s pastries (courtesy of his friends who also unknowingly bring Plagg yummy cheese danishes) to try to deal with his heartache. Adrien doesn’t even get up early anymore.
Nathalie gets Gabriel to allow them to date but Adrien still isn’t happy because Marinette won’t even look at him anymore, and he blames it all on them. (Marinette refuses to look at Adrien so she won’t get her heart broken or she still feels some lingering mortification and betrayal.)
Nathalie sighs. Dealing with Dramatic Duusu is actually simpler than dealing with Adrien for once.
Nathalie brings the tablet with Gabriel’s face on it to apologize to Marinette so they can actually get decent work done. But Tom still forbids them to enter. Gabriel has to apologize in public to Marinette outside the bakery, admitting his wrongdoing.
This situation is actually more awkward for Nathalie.
Marinette is stunned by what just happened that she actually breaks her rule and calls Adrien.
He picks up immediately.
“How did you get your dad to agree to let us date?”
Adrien himself was baffled. He had been too depressed to pay attention to anything except akuma attacks since that was the only time Marinette would talk to him. “I have no idea. Maybe he had a change of heart?”
Marinette’s brain: unlikely
Adrien’s brain: Hello my love. You are as beautiful as ever, your radiance outshines the sun...
Adrien: does this mean you’re willing to talk to me again?
Marinette: I don’t know. Are you live-streaming our video conversation right now?
Cue Adrien begging for forgiveness.
Adrien: Apologies, Princess! I swear by all the Camembert in the world to never let one word between the two of us slip through without your explicit permission....(yeah, Plagg is going to hold him to that.)
Marinette: (laughing) Sheesh, you are such a dork.
Adrien: (kitten eyes activate) but I’m your dork.
Marinette: you are so lucky you’re cute.
Adrien: cute? Marinette, I am a model. I am not cute. I am beautiful.
Marinette laughs. “Ok, fine. Beautiful Adrien. How about you make it up to me? You can treat me to dinner.”
Adrien’s face lights up. “I’ll come over right now.”
“...Adrien...it’s only 2 heures.”
Adrien pouts. “But I miss my princess so much.”
Marinette giggles and admits, “I’ve missed you too, my prince. But I have work to do. You can come pick me up at 6.”
Adrien nods eagerly, looking more like a puppy than a cat. “Very well. See you then, Princess. I love you.”
“I love you too.” And you can just hear the sincere emotion in Marinette’s words.
End call.
Adrien sighs and falls back into his bed. His lady still loves him. She forgives him.
Plagg hovers over the teenager, cheese in his paws. “You are embarrassing.”
“I don’t really care right now.” Adrien sighs.
Eventually he gets down to planning the most romantic date yet.
Nathalie comes home to find Adrien focused since...well, since Marinette dumped him. She informs Adrien that she already booked a private booth for them at the Eiffel Tower Restaurant: Le Jules Verne.
Adrien happily thanks Nathalie and goes off to prepare his wardrobe. Thank God! It had been a disgrace to the brand to see Adrien walk outside with bed hair, shadowed eyes, rumpled clothes, and a distinct odour of stinky cheese. Gabriel about had a stroke at the sight of his Son in such a state.
The evening had been a success. Adrien had romanced Marinette that the night had ended in a very long makeout session that poor Gorilla had to wait through. Good thing he could just play Miraculous Crush.
All was right in Adrien’s world again. All breaches in codes had been forgiven. (Chat had been presentable for the interview in the hopes that a happy Alya would be a helpful Alya. It was a vain hope since Alya was wary of risking Marinette’s anger so soon after the former was forgiven.) Marinette was his Girlfriend again. And Plagg got to try restaurant-quality cheese too.
One week later, Gabriel questioned why Marinette seems to be a constant presence in his house when Adrien has Chinese right now.
Nathalie gives a helpless shrug. “Your Son claims it was our fault Marinette ended their relationship and he had been deprived of his girlfriend’s presence for long enough. He drags her everywhere now. To photo shoots and fencing practise where she and Adrien’s bodyguard play some app games. When Adrien has piano rehearsal and Chinese class, I’ve seen Marinette playing video games quietly in the background.”
“And this doesn’t interfere with his concentration?”
“Surprisingly, no. Adrien only gets distracted when she leaves the room.”
“And doesn’t Miss Dupain-Cheng have work at her family’s bakery.”
“Your Son has paid off his friends to work her shift...using your credit card, I might add.”
Gabriel is alarmed. Has his perfect son turned into a thief? “When did I give him that!?”
“When you told me to let Adrien know that Le Jules Verne was on your tab.”
Gabriel regrets breaking them up so much.

The Fall of Rome CH1
I know a lot of you are anxiously awaiting the time when Lila gets her dues in MDCSP, but that’s a ways off, so here have a different fic to satisfy your craving until then!
Read on AO3
Rating: G
Summary:  When Rose receives a letter from Prince Ali, she learns the truth about their "well-traveled" classmate. With the help of their everyday Ladybug, the class seeks revenge, and Lila learns the hard way that kingdoms built on lies will only crumble.
Dear Prince Ali,
I hope this letter finds you well! Things are going great here in Paris now that Ladybug and Chat Noir saved us all from Hawkmoth on Heroes’ Day. Did you hear about it in the news in your country? I was reakumatized along with several of my classmates, but don’t worry, everything is fine now. How are things in Achu? I heard about your recent visit with Lila, and I think it’s so amazing that you two are working together to reduce pollution in the world! I’ve been so inspired that I’ve started using reusable water bottles, and I talked to Marinette about increasing the number of recycling bins at our school. I hope you’ll tell me all about your efforts in your next letter, and I’ll be sure to tell Lila hi for you. I can’t wait to hear back from you!
Love,
Rose
Rose sat on Juleka’s couch, gaze fixed ahead as her girl friends all chatted around her animatedly. She clutched a small folded letter in her hand, tracing her thumb over the edge a few times absentmindedly. Ali had finally responded to her last letter, but his reply left her questioning everything. Now she sat amongst her friends, uncertain of how to broach the subject for fear of what might unfold because if Prince Ali was telling the truth then that meant Lila wasn’t.
“It’s such a shame that Lila couldn’t join us today,” Mylene said, and Rose felt her spine stiffen.
“Yeah, but she had a meeting with several ambassadors to start a foundation for conserving our rain forests, so it’s understandable,” Alix said with a shrug, and Alya’s face softened into a smile.
“That girl is always working to make the world a better place,” she remarked, and beside her Marinette rolled her eyes but remained silent.
“Um,” Rose started, but Mylene cut her off.
“We should definitely try to plan a sleepover with her soon. I bet she could tell amazing stories about her travels,” her friend said, pressing her hands to her cheeks.
“I want to get the numbers of all of those princes she turned down,” Alya said, biting her lip.
“What about Nino?” Marinette quirked a brow, and Alya shot her a devilish look.
“He can come too.”
“Girls,” Rose tried again softly, but in that moment, Nino, Adrien, Ivan, and Luka descended the stairs.
“He can come to what?” Nino placed his hands on his hips, shooting his girlfriend a playful glare.
“On an exotic vacation with several hot princes,” Alya winked, as he stooped down to kiss her cheek, wrapping his arms around her shoulders. “You guys working on new music?”
“Yeah, Lila told us alternative is super in right now in the US, so we’re changing up our sound a little bit,” Ivan explained.
“Lila is so awesome! She really loves helping people,” Mylene said with a smile, and Adrien and Marinette exchanged looks while Rose fixed her gaze on the letter in her lap.
“Can you believe she saved the British prime minister from choking on a croissant?”
“I heard she visits her actor friends in Hollywood all the time on the weekends.”
“And just last week she-”
Rose squeezed her eyes shut, hoping to block out all of the noise and ease the pressure building in her lungs, but the more her friends prattled on, the harder it became to breath. Her eyes stung with angry tears as a single word flashed in her mind, pestering her over and over until she felt ready to burst.
“Liar!” She shouted finally, and the room fell silent as all eyes snapped to her. “Lila is a liar!”
“Whoa, Rose, what’s the matter?” Nino’s eyebrows raised.
“Yeah, Rose, why are you bugging?” Alya echoed, and Rose unfolded the letter in her lap with shaking hands.
“I wrote a letter to Prince Ali, and he says he doesn’t know anyone named Lila,” Rose explained, passing it to Alya as everyone crowded around to read.
Beside her, Marinette bit back a smug expression, watching as everyone’s expressions changed from skeptical to horrified to angry. This was exactly what she needed to happen. Lila’s web was finally crumbling, and Marinette couldn’t wait to see her try to lie her way out of this one.
“Wait, so, she really is lying?” Alix said, sitting back with pursed lips.
“You tried to tell us too, Marinette, and we totally blew you off,” Alya said with a wince before pulling her best friend into her arms. “I’m so sorry I said you were just jealous.”
“But wait, how did you find out, Marinette?” Mylene asked, and Marinette’s spin stiffened.
“Uh, well, I-”
“Because of me,” Adrien piped up, crossing his arms over his chest with a sigh. “The first day Lila moved here, she tried to convince me that she was a superheroine, but then Ladybug showed up and called her out for lying on the Ladyblog, and Marinette witnessed it.”
“I always knew that she’d get caught one day,” Marinette said, sounding incredibly amused by the whole situation.
“Man, I feel so dumb for believing her,” Ivan said, glaring down at his drumsticks.
“Yeah, how could we have been so blind?” Alix scoffed, and the room erupted into a chorus of disgruntled chatter.
Sensing the tension in the room, Adrien turned to Marinette with a pleading look.
“This is my fault,” he said, curling his shoulders. “I told you not to out her, and now everyone’s hurt.
Marinette waved her hands frantically, fishing for some form of reassurance but ultimately coming up empty. In a sense, he wasn’t wrong, but she chose to stay quiet too when she had a clear shot to expose her. Of course, she’d only stayed quiet because he told her to, and she cursed her weak-willed heart every day, but now wasn’t the time to gloat. She needed to set things right.
“Don’t worry, I’ll handle it,” she said with a smile before standing up, and all eyes snapped to her. “Listen, I know you’re all upset and hurt, but let’s find the positive. At least now, you all know the truth, so Lila can’t get away with it anymore.”
“We should get her back,” Alix suggested with a crooked grin. “Make her pay for making us all act like idiots over her.”
“Alix, do you really think revenge is the best-” Marinette started, but Alya cut her off.
“I could record the footage and put it on my blog.”
“We should make sure she never lies to anyone ever again!”
Marinette glanced back at Adrien worriedly as their friends animatedly plotted their revenge, but he simply shrugged.
“I don’t agree with it, but I feel like I’ve done enough harm,” he said in her ear. “Your call.”
With that he turned and quietly paced back up to the main deck, leaving Marinette amidst her angry classmates and friends with a heavy choice to make. If they humiliated Lila, she could get akumatized again, but Ladybug had already beaten her twice. She also would probably come to resent everyone in the class, but it would be her own fault for lying. At the end of the day, Lila had brought this on herself, and making sure she doesn’t lie to anyone again would solve a lot of problems.
“You’ll help us, right, Marinette?” Alya asked, snapping her out of her inner turmoil as everyone fixed their gaze on her.
“I, uh,” she stammered, tapping her fingers together. “Don’t you guys think it’s a little mean to want to humiliate her?”
“Oh, you mean like how she humiliated all of us?” Alix said, cocking a brow.
“Yeah, this girl deserves to be punished,” Nino agreed.
“I thought you’d be stoked to get back at Lila considering you were the one always trying to out her,” Alya said, eyes narrowing skeptically, and Marinette shifted her weight.
“I do want to see her face the consequences for her actions, but I just don’t want to resort to being mean because then are we really any better than her?” Marinette asked, and Alya cupped a hand over her heart, pulling Marinette in for a tight hug.
“M, you have a heart of gold. We’re sorry we ever doubted you,” she said warmly before pulling back with a smirk, “but we’re still going to call her out.”
“Yeah, she made us doubt you, and you’re like the best ever,” Alix said, hugging one knee to her chest on the couch.
“Yeah, Marinette, we owe it to you to make her pay,” Nino added, wrapping an arm around his girlfriend’s shoulders.
“You do so much for all of us, so we wanna do something for you for a change,” Ivan smiled, rubbing the back of his neck, and Marinette bit her lip, tapping her feet as she weighed the pros and cons before sighing.
“Okay, I’ll help you get revenge,” she said finally, “but we’re going to do it my way.”
