Godzilla: Monster Island Summer Camp will be published on August 12 via IDW. The 128-page graphic novel features reunites Godzilla Rivals II: Vs. Battra writer Rosie Knight and artist Oliver Ono.

Aimed at readers 9-12, the story follows a young, aspiring cartoonist to Monster Island, where she makes a connection with the son of Godzilla, Minilla.

As an aspiring cartoonist, Zelda has always dreamed of attending an art summer camp, and this year she finally gets to go! But when she arrives to Make It Summer Camp, she’s horrified to see the easels and sketchboards have been replaced with dodgeball and calisthenics. The camp is under new, suspicious management that’s turned it into an extreme sports nightmare. Determined to salvage her summer, Zelda escapes to a secluded corner of the island. Here she can finally draw in peace. At least until she stumbles into a portal to a fantastic world. Welcome to Monster Island! There she makes a connection with baby kaiju Minilla and discovers the beauty of these legendary creatures. However, all is not well on Monster Island. Great evils are stirring and if Zelda can’t protect their home, the kaiju will unleash their wrath on the world!

One thing I think many gloss over when it comes to Godzilla is the motivation and personality of each iteration, and how their design reflects that.

Shin is a being of pure agony, a living cancer that kills and destroys as much as it can out of pure rage and hatred at its own existence and those who made it be so. Over the film, it goes from what looks like a dead shark to a monster with razors for teeth and eyes of pure suffering and hate.

Minus One is basically hate personified, a monster that somehow manages to hold a deep personal rage against each and every individual member of humanity. It's hatred runs so deep that it commits actions just to terrify and kill. And it's design forces a terrifying glare, one so viscous you'd believe it really hates you personally.

Monsterverse is more of a disgruntled hero. He kinda gives the vibe of a dude who stands in the corner at a party acting like he doesn't want to be there. He has specific motivations in taking down particular kaiju, motivations that are often confused for attacks. He does what he needs to do and retreats back to the ocean when he's done. And he looks consistently miffed. A face that does lean into a menacing rage when necessary.

Classic goji is, like most iterations, an already existing being from the sea, enraged at the destruction of its home and mutation of itself. It has come to simply destroy, destroy all that has allowed this to occur. It causes hurt and suffering, agony and destruction all in its shared pain and rage. Its design is literally shaped like a mushroom cloud since, yknow, nuke mutation.

I been attempted to recreate lineup of all the Cul-de-sac characters as monster/daikaiju/kaiju form from Godzilla franchises staring with The Eds.

Ed/Anguirus:

He is describes as a loving compassion genuine Lumpy how always behave like I dog all the time. He favorite food is gravy.

Edd/Jet Jaguar:

Created by Professor Marion himself who his robot assistant was both struck by lightning and his body transferred into the robot and become Jet Jaguar.

Eddy/Godzilla:

The leader of The Eds and is the right holder King of the Peach Creek. Sometimes he can be a bit of a jerk with other kaijus, but he is still regarded as a hero.

Thinking next lineup character will be either Nazz, Sarah, Jimmy or maybe Jonny 2x4 and Plank.

I'm not gonna lie... Willow mistakenly thinking that Fred was interested in her--after Fred cutely rambled to her in that one Angel episode--kind of made me ship them.

And Tara and Fred being able to, like, read each other's minds in the Buffy/Angel book "Monster Island" definitely made me ship them.

So basically what I'm saying here is "WillowTaraFred OT3 rights."

I mainly bring this all up because Tara deserves to be able to be shipped with more people than just Willow, dangit! Even though I love Tillow, don't get me wrong, but it is sad how in some ways the show didn't always develop Tara outside of Willow like it should have.
