Tommy not dressing up for the party is going wild on Twitter lol, so I thought I'd give my opinions on it here where I'm less likely to get told to kms.

I think both things can be true. I think it is a very deliberate writing choice to contrast Eddie and Tommy, and how they respond to Buck's love for all things fun. I also think it wasn't meant to be a huge deal and doesn't show that Tommy isn't right for Buck, or that he doesn't care.

If he didn't care he wouldn't have been there- both for the party, and to the wedding itself.

I think it was just meant to establish that they are at the beginning of their relationship and still getting to know each other. Their relationship is still in the growing stage of learning each other's quirks and boundaries. Having Buck express disappointment rather than already knowing about Tommy not dressing up was a deliberate choice, yes, but I really don't think it was meant to establish any rifts in their relationship.

It was just meant to show that there are still pieces of each other that they don't know about yet. If this had happened a couple months down the line? I'm certain that Tommy wouldn't even think twice about just shoving a jacket on to fit the theme and leaving that jacket in his car if he got called out.

And as a Buddie endgame truther, having Eddie contrast that helps get the general audience get used to the idea that Eddie already knows this. He knows about "clipboard Buck" and having him come up with the theme shows that he's not only a supporter, but he's right there with him. It's just setting more foundations for if they ever decide to go that route.

Either way, I'm not quite sure how, even if you don't like BuckTommy, you could come out of that episode thinking that Tommy isn't all in. Dude literally showed up, still covered in soot and probably exhausted outta his mind, just because he knew it was important to Buck.

He's definitely Buck's best relationship so far (although the bar was basically on the ground lol)
