The Rhythm of the River
Neath the whispering trees so tall,
Missouri's river, memories recall.
A wooded jig along the peaceful shore,
reflections dance, forevermore.
Sunset paints the water's gentle stream,
secrets of the woods start to gleam.
Leaves turn like pages in nature's storybook,
revealing tales the river undertook.
Tree silhouettes, guardians of time,
echo tales in rhythm and rhyme.
A symphony, the river's soft hum,
a lullaby when daylight's done.
In this forest hug, reflections play,
mirroring life as light slips away.
Each ripple, a chapter, a fleeting glance,
on the Missouri's liquid expanse.
A father's wisdom, like the river's flow,
meanders through the woods, to and fro.
In reflections, a legacy unfolds,
Missouri River, its secrets holds.
Nature's canvas, memories deep,
where reflections and river sweep.
A wooded scene, timeless, clever,
on Missouri's banks, reflections to treasure, forever! by Eugene Matthews (Fall, 2023)

Got bored, took a drive: the Confluence of the Missouri and Mississippi Rivers. The point is 4 miles down a very passable for sedans dirt road. I have no idea why I was there, but it happened.
