"Widespread in Mexico, this bird enters the United States in two areas: in much of southeastern Arizona and adjacent New Mexico, and in the Big Bend area of Texas. These two populations are not closely connected in Mexico, and they differ in a number of ways, including egg color, bill color of the young, voice, and aspects of nesting behavior. The nesting habits in Arizona are surprisingly complicated, various members of the flock being more or less involved with several nesting attempts at once."

I’m really struggling with my art lately. Feels like my brain or my hands just can’t do it. The colors I mix look garbagey, greens too dull or just off on some way I can quote fix, ocean colors too fake. I can’t seem to find an inspiring subject and everything I put down just doesn’t give me that feeling of completeness.

I went to the New Mexico Watercolor Society Christmas party yesterday and happened to sit next to a professional painter. We got to chatting about what we do, our struggles, all that good stuff and she was just such a gift to me. She was so chill about painting. She said to paint every day if you want to or not, whatever. Don’t stress or you won’t love what’s coming out of your hands onto the paper. She said trace things from a photo if you want, or free hand sketch, or don’t sketch at all, or make it all up out of your head, there’s no right or wrong.

I don’t know if she realized how much she was helping me! I came home and sat down with my paints and knocked out a couple pieces that made me feel good 😊

(ALT Versions with no text) (Also forgive me for not having a good background for Theresa and Atlanta but the idea was just not popping into my head.)

For some context: I imagine this would be like a basis for season 3 or 4 (if the show continued) I could totally see Jay not believing he is good enough to be with Theresa. Jay begins to notice how he gets WAY to fixated on wanting to get rid of Cronus that he doesn't give Theresa enough attention and even though he wants to live his life, the responsibility of being the team Leader weighs to heavily on him and he can't fully live in the moment when he thinks that Cronus will strike at any minute.

Jay also begins to notice that he has to many similarities to Theresa's father and he refuses to hurt her more even if it's an accident so, Jay does what he thinks is best and breaks up with Theresa. This also happens to backfire a little causing a bit of a rift between Jay and Theresa and the rest of the team.

(They probably get back together at some point but both Jay and Theresa need a character development arc before I would even consider it )

Anyways, Atlanta and Archie are just being good bros and trying their best to keep everything together while Jeresa is going though their breakup arc.

Anyways, Lore aside, I truly hope you enjoy the picture.

Mexican jay / chara pecho gris (Aphelocoma wollweberi).

On my duty days at the bird sanctuary I try to pick a common, under-appreciated resident species and give it some extra observation and attention – to try to see it from the perspective of someone seeing it for the first time. Last week was Jay Day. Our local jays are really quite spectacular: big and boldly colored, raucous, and impressively intelligent. They are obnoxious and loud-mouthed, but I love the whoosh sound their wings make in flight when they cut through the air. 

At Ash Canyon Bird Sanctuary, Cochise County, Arizona.
