Ten Question Tag
@write-the-galaxy tagged me for this one, because he knows I love answering questions. As I promised, I am trying to catch up on asks and such over the weekend, so here we are. ^_^
(akhdfakhkdhakhkhfokjad Michael, I’ve made an impact on your writing??? *lindsey miller voice* Oh my God, it’s happening.)
 1. Do you have a dream project that you would like to write but don’t feel ready to write just yet?
A sort of heist/rebellion YA set in Bulgaria during Ottoman times. Want to show a mix of old Slavic traditions, Bulgarian Orthodox traditions, the lives of Roma people during the despotic rule of Ottomans, but also peaceful, normal Muslim Turks living among us back then.
I want to see if I can get out the best of us without forgetting the worst, and also remind the world we’ve been through hell. And perhaps reminding Bulgarians we’re not quite European?
 2. Do you prefer to write on a schedule or write when the urge comes to you?
A combination of the two? I’ve been on a bit of a forced vacation from writing, but I still sit down in front of the computer if I feel like telling a story. When I get into a writing routine though, I try to write a sentence or two minimum each day. If not, then I do a bit of proofreading to remind myself of the story and maybe think about where I’m taking it.
 3. What is your favorite theme to include in your writing, if you have one?
Neurodivergent characters living their lives and non-Anglo-Saxon people getting in touch with their culture or heritage.
 4. What book that you’ve read has made the biggest impact on your writing? Or books if there is more than one.
Millenium trilogy by Stieg Larsson, Muriel Avenue Sluts by Maggie Hasbrouck, Terry Pratchett (just him, the person, and everything he’s done ever at all), Ursula Le Guin (her, the person, herself, and everything she’s done ever at all), The Gods Themselves by Isaac Asimov
 5. What is something that you have learned about yourself through the act of writing?
My grammar can be shaky. Lol. I have an excuse though – English is my second language.
 6. Why did you start writing? Do you still write for the same reason, or has it changed?
Emotion. Unfiltered, uncensored, unrestrained. The power of it all combined with the strength of conviction that I could change the world through words, that I could somehow speak long enough or loud enough for my philosophy to shine through.
And yes, I still write for similar reasons. Although how I express it has changed.
 7. What is a book that you would recommend to anyone, anytime?
Runebinder by Alex R Kahler, Six of Crows duology by Leigh Bardugo. I’d recommend Millenium to most people, unfortunately it can be triggering so I’d have to make exception to the “anyone” part of the conditions.
 8. What genre do you typically write in and why?
Speculative of all sorts, I love to make the reader believe things could (have) happen.
 9. What are your writing goals for this year?
Rewrite Republic’s Chosen and record it for an online audio version. Podcast reading maybe? Who knows, not me…
 10. Do you believe in writer’s block or not?
Who am I to question how other authors feel? I kind of get stuck about how to write things rather than what to write, but I suppose that’s writers block too.
Alright people, this is obviously open for all those who want to do it, please tag me though so I can like and comment on your responses!  Specifically tagging @bee-fabulous @draconako @kitwillan @lie-hart and @violet-clouds-and-skies ^_^
