#Lucy and Celina friendship

Listen I need a Celina and Lucy interaction. Like Lucy with her gift baskets and burning away bad energy and Celina and her auras and vibes… you’re telling me these two won’t get along and be a handful for everybody to deal with.

Things I love about “The Rookie” (and The Rookie Feds)
I love how they didn’t rush Chenford. If Tim and Lucy got together earlier, there would have been too much power imbalance etc. Also, Lucy had to find her own footing in the department. There was tension from the beginning, but the time wasn’t perfect yet. This was absolutely worth the wait.
I love that Tim is not a big bad bully straight white man. He is rough on the outside, but actually impossibly thoughtful (for example the way he matches his training to his trainee)
I love Tim and Angela’s friendship. He was her Man of Honour! that was beautiful! And their jokes?
I love the friendships in that show. The mentor trios? Tim, Angela and Talia in the first season, and then Nyla? And the rookies being friends, and Celina playing DnD with Aaron...
They are all given lives outside of work, and this is absolutely lovely.
I’m absolutely in love with this one cold open where Tim is watching the game, and it is interrupted by a broadcast of a police chase. The best one imo
I like how often Nolan still uses his contractor knowledge, that Lucy uses her psychological education, that Celina and Aaron also have their own respective areas where they are good.
I miss Jackson... I adore Bailey
Simone Clark! (Need I say more?)
The rest of the lovely feds from TRF
The sense of humor the writers must have to come up with some of the scenarios. The zombie or vampire themed episodes...
I like how the intro has different colors depending on whether or not the episode is supposed to be on the funnier or darker side
I don’t know anything about the actors or the way things work on set, and I can’t say things are good or not (people keep quitting the show, so...) but I appreciate the craft (not the creators, as I said I know nothing, so I don’t really have any opinions. I’m also not american, si I have no idea how accurate the show is, but that’s not stopping me from thoroughly enjoying it. If I missed anything add it in the reblogs)

I’m rewatching the rookie and I truly feel like that after Jackson died, Nolan and Lucy’s friendship died. It was already pretty rocky after the breakup but they seemed to get along enough with Jackson around, but after Jackson died they really seemed to like drift apart.
I really hope they’ll give Lucy a friend in Celina because I really think they’d bond and Lucy needs someone who doesn’t outrank her at work

Just for fun, what are some of the things on your “wish list” for season 6?
• I want Aaron to survive and be okay
• I want more Lucy and Aaron riding together
• More Aaron and Celina friendship/D&D
• More badass Nyla and Angela teamwork/storylines
• Get an I love you out of Tim and Lucy
• More Metro Tim
• More Chenford dates
I’m sure there are more but that’s all I got right now

Everyone asks about what we want to see in S6, but I'm curious, what are your wants in general for S6 or beyond? Any particular storylines you'd like to see?
Honestly I'm just beyond grateful that we're getting a season 6! (In terms of renewal, and of course the strikes.)
What I want (also includes things I don't want) under the cut!
Tim and Lucy dance at the wedding!!! (it's a need)
KOJOOOOOOOOOOO
The little things: holding hands, a kiss on the cheek, one coming up and wrapping their arms around the other from behind. Just those soft things that are so easily overlooked, but frankly these little moments often have the biggest impact.
CHENFORD I LOVE YOU! That's the only "big" development I need for them in season 6, mostly because I think it should have happened in season 5.
Oh I lied, other big thing I'd really like to see - Chenford living together. Because let's face it, they already do, so might as well make it official already! (Especially if there's a time jump of any kind. Grown ass adults move faster in relationships than 20-year-olds.)
Aaron lives! (I almost didn't bother including this one since he obviously does, but still)
Development to (if not resolution of) everything that's been brewing regarding Lucy's undercover career. I know everyone has their own (strong) opinions on what they want to happen/where they want this to land, but I just want Lucy to have the career she deserves AND the life that she wants (and I personally don't think she can have both with the current state of things) AND for her and Tim to be in a good place. So ultimately I hope she realizes that UC is not for her - BUT NOT JUST BECAUSE OF TIM, because it goes against her character, because she doesn't want to leave herself, her friends, her life behind... (I could write an essay on this, and... oops apparently I have!)
Related the above, but Lucy to advance in her career. Be that as a detective or some other type of promotion or advancement. Girl has been killing it, she deserves it! (As much as I think having Angela and Nyla AND Lucy as detectives is too many detectives, I would loooove to see that trio kicking ass together!)
More Tim and Angela moments. Aside from Chenford, this is my absolute favourite relationship on the show, I adore their friendship and I'd love to see more of it!
Aaron and Celina to be just friends. Petition for more platonic male-female friendships on TV!! And they just give off BFF energy to me
Genny! Moments with Tim, moments with Lucy, maybe tell us her other kid's name... they made a point of moving her character to Los Angeles, I hope they use her!
No pregnancy for Bailey/Nolan. Congrats to Jenna, but we've had pregnancies every season since season 3 and it's a lot. Plus Nolan wasn't keen a few seasons ago, and he's even older now, and giving the lead character a newborn at home would really fuck with the dynamics. Also petition for more female characters choosing not to have kids, representation matters! (Oops another essay...)
Better integration of the various characters. Lots of people dislike Bailey (I am not one of them), but I personally think the biggest hiccup with her character is that she almost exclusively interacts with Nolan. This cast has incredible chemistry, so I would really like to see them play with that more! What I would give for a ladies night with all these badass women (you know they'll stumble across a crime or something...)
I'm sure there's more, but I've yammered on enough. Aside from these things, I'm just REALLY looking forward to my beloved show coming back. This cast is magical, I love how they manage to keep it light, and I'm excited to see what they have planned for us.
And I'm hoping for some renewed inspiration for fic ideas, too! Oh and that reminds me, my biggest want for season 6? RENEWAL FOR SEASON 7!!!!!!!!

What are your top non-Chenford episodes/arcs/storylines? And what's your least favourite?
Oh god, whyyyyyy are these always so hard?
Actually, least favorite is easy: the arsonist storyline in season 4, which is unnecessarily gruesome and ends with an unrealistic escape.
But favorites? Oh gosh. I notice you didn't give me a number this time, though, so I'm just gonna go through in chronological order and list the ones that stand out.
1x08 Time of Death
Nolan is ordinarily not my favorite character, but I thought this storyline was really well done (ignoring the very end with a certain hookup I like to forget ever happened 🤮). As a viewer, you don't see it coming... and then BAM. It's like we experience the shock and numbness and everything else in the aftermath right along with him.
1x16 Greenlight
I will forever miss Captain Andersen, and this episode brings me to tears every single time.
2x07 Safety
I love the glimpse into Tim's life and backstory we get in this episode, plus we see the protective side of him coming out with AJ. It's nice to mix things up, too. We get the beginning of the Lucy x Harper relationship, we see Angela trying something different with the security job (and being a total badass)... it's a nice change of pace.
2x08 Clean Cut
I just really like Ellroy. He's hilarious, and he and Nell are adorable together!
2x11-12 DOD-Now and Then
I know this is technically a Chenford storyline, but it's truly a group effort to find Lucy. She has a lot of support through her recovery, and not just in 2x12. I appreciate that we get to see her work through her trauma and it's not just glossed over like so often happens.
3x10-14 Angela x Tim
Watching him support her every step of the way is just the sweetest thing ever, with a nice dose of humor thrown into the mix. I love their friendship so much!
4x15 Hit List
I will always have a soft spot for Grey, and I enjoy when he has bigger storylines. Seeing him break down in the hospital as he struggles to come to terms with taking a life is so heartbreaking. We get to see Tim step in for him as watch commander. And I love all the callbacks to Nolan's shooting in 1x08.
4x17 Coding
This one made my list of favorite cold opens the other day, but the truth is I actually like the entire hospital storyline. It tugs at your heartstrings in the saddest way... the dying wife and the young girl waiting for a transplant. And I almost find myself empathizing with the bad guy too, at times, which says a lot about the storytelling in this one.
5x19 A Hole in the World
This one made my list of favorite Chenford episodes, but really everyone is working the same storyline here so I'm including it on this list too. Honestly, this is a strong contender for my favorite episode of the entire show. Between the Chenford pieces and Celina finally getting some closure and forgiving her mom. Ugh. It's so good.
I also always like healing arcs in general, and this show is no exception. Watching Tim piece himself back together after Isabel and watching Harper get her life and her daughter back are arcs that stand out to me as well.

Is that Jenny in the promo is it Tim’s nephew who’s missing?! Someone please put my mind at ease!
May I remind you all while we are all hurting so deeply over the break up/cowards way out….. (my opinion) we still haven’t had that Bradford/Aaron explosion scene yet and Tim running to an officer on the ground and the Lucy and Celina get beaten up episode!
also we know from the finale BTS pics that Lucy is coming for her man!…. There better be a reunion!
That episode broke me… I’m still reeling through emotions right now… how dare tim! I know that he’s in a bad place right now and probably dealing with everything that he thought he could get over… but this woman literally has been there every step of the way since she came into his life.. and I know his mental health is tanking but Lucy literally died alone in a barrel and let’s be fair has been going through multiple different traumas ever since… which I Feel needs to be showcased more!
She’s going through abandonment once again!!! Her mental health should be at breaking point! I know mine is just from watching it.. let alone going through all of it!
Eric and Melissa are crushing it! It really showcases there friendship.
As much as I love angst that ending tore my heart apart for both of them! And all in my head I can think is there better be a hell of a good “naked time” clip now that Tamara is moving out!
And no I do not want Celina moving in!

Lucy has never done this job without Tim. First she was his rookie, then aid and finally he was her boyfriend. It'll be very interesting to see how they navigate through and what friends will look like despite being "in love"?
Yeah, I don't see them bouncing back to friends too quickly. I actually hope that Lucy is mad at Tim for a while. From her end, the break-up comes out of nowhere and makes no sense. Even when Tim lets her in on one thing, he ices her out with another.
I can understand why Tim does that because I, as a viewer, can see it from all the angles, but Lucy can't.
I'm actually curious to see if this break-up means that Lucy will have more scenes with characters who aren't Tim. I'd love to see her spark up friendships with Aaron or Celina or another character.

There is no way that Tim and Lucy went on that date, ended up in a police report that Grey would have had to read, and Grey doesn’t realize they were on a date. He has been working with them for how long now, he sees the way they interact, he’s seen how they react when the other is in danger, for peat sake, he was in the hospital with Tim and saw all that even. There is no way he would ask them into his office to ask them to talk to Celina and Aaron about their possible relationship when they haven’t been doing the heart eyes at each other like Tim and Lucy. Grey called them in, using Aaron and Celina as an excuse to discuss inter office relationships without calling them out to make sure that they think about it and talk about it. Just look at Grey there. He totally knows!
Tumblr media
I also believe that Aaron does know. When he and Tim were hanging over the edge in the shop, he tells Tim to get out because Lucy will kill him if something happens to Tim. When Tim was trying to ask Aaron about Celina, I believe Aaron brought up those points to shut Tim up and to kind of be like ‘don’t be a hypocrite’. He and Tim don’t have that kind of relationship where they talk about personal things, but it seems Aaron and Lucy are getting close (maybe Aaron will be her new Jackson) so I don’t see him calling Tim out on it for Lucy’s sake. But maybe Tim will develop more of a friendship with Aaron if they keep riding together.
I also was kind of disappointed with the shop hanging off the edge scene. Besides Aaron saying Lucy would kill me if something happened to Tim, basically outing the fact that Aaron knows about their feelings, it was just anticlimactic. I was hoping for more drama from that.
That’s just some of my thoughts on this episode.

Celina is in fact NOT OK. And Aaron is drunk off his ass. Of course why would Nolan have a peaceful wedding night when everything else went wrong.
Alright then. That was wrapped up quickly. Everyone quick thinking weeehh Everyone’s ok.
This is the third shot of them laying on their back? It’ll be fun to clip that together.
Well ok then.
I feel so betrayed and tricked but it was delulu of me to think they would make up that quickly!!! IT TAKES A LIE DETECTOR TEST FOR HIM TO ACCEPT THAT HE DOESNT LIKE THE IDEA OF HER DOING UC WORK? This is actually just so in character for them! This is actually just chenford being chenford because it took them going undercover as a couple to even CONSIDER the fact they have feelings for each other.

1, 6, 12, 22 & 29! 👀
1 has been answered, so moving down the line!
6.) Do you prefer writing shorter, standalone fics or longer, multi-chapter stories?
One shots for sure! Only because with the longer fics, I'm afraid I'll lose focus or run out of ideas halfway through.
12.) Are there any clichés or tropes that you actively avoid in your fics?
I typically shy away from writing Tim or Lucy as insecure. Honestly I don't really view anyone in the cast as insecure in their bodies or relationships. Do they have insecurities? Of course, but not in regards to their bodies or relationships, which is often what I get asked to write.
22.) What role does humor play in your writing? Do you enjoy adding comedic elements to your fics?
I looove incorporating humor and comic relief in my fics! Especially if I'm writing something super heavy.
29.) Are there any characters, relationships, or general character dynamics you've never written about but would like to try?
Hmm...maybe Lucy and Celina? In a platonic friendship. I don't think we've seen them interact very much on screen yet.
Thank you, friend!

The Rookie- 5x19
Okay, I actually don’t know where to start because the promo for next episode has me SHOOK and i am quite literally frozen in place 🤣
The domestic Tim and Lucy was *chefs kiss* but it was clearly the beginning of some upcoming angst about Lucy’s career path, which is exciting but very nerve wracking.
Don’t even get me started on the kiss, I watched the promo several times and yet still squealed when I saw it live.
SHE CALLED HIM BABE! Enough said.
Smitty is EVERYTHING 🤣
The amount of times Lucy went to Nyla for advice/ input was SO cute. Where did she go when she was worried about Tim ? Nyla. SHOW ME MORE OF THE FRIENDSHIP PLEASE. I want to see my girls !!! Add Angela in there too and I’ll be even happier !
The whole Celina storyline was so heart wrenching, but I was so convinced at first that the kidnapper was the guy who spoke to grey towards the beginning, so…. I was wrong about that 🤣
Aaron and Lucy riding together again- I really like their friendship. 🥰
Aaron and celinas little fist bump handshake thing was 🥺
Angela and Wesley 🥰
The callback to the tapes Lucy made for Tim- very cute !! “You owe me’ I’ve melted.
Now for the promo:
WTAF?!!!!
First of all, im super happy to see Isabel looking healthy and happy; good for her❤️but WTF is she doing there ?!
What does she need to talk about ? Who invited who ? Has Tim been talking to her for a while ? What is happening. I’m literally going to have an anxiety attack over this. Why do they do this to me all the time 🤦‍♀️
Now for the three week wait…

LUCY
“I’ll go pick up another pack of tests,” Lucy offered as they stared down at the one test in question, but nobody tore their gaze away from the faint pink line on the test.
“No, I’ll call my doctor,” Angela said, breaking the spell. “I know she’ll fit us in for a blood test. If we get this over by the lunch hour, then we might even have results by tonight.”
Lucy continued to stare at the test while she absentmindedly followed Angela’s phone call.
When she woke up that morning, it had been just another day. She and Tim took Kojo for an early run in which halfway through, Kojo plunged belly first into a muddy puddle and rolled around.  While Tim hosed him off in the backyard, Lucy made breakfast: Salmon for Kojo and an omelet for the two of them.
She loved the pace they’d been taking their relationship. They had found their rhythm. Nothing felt forced and they organically began to spend more and more time together.
Part of that meant spending time with Tim’s sister and her kids. Both Tim and Lucy had gotten involved in the boy’s baseball team earlier in the year and it had been more fun than she could have imagined. These days, Genny and Lucy didn’t need an excuse to hang out.
Tim pretended to be annoyed by the two of them colluding, especially when Genny told embarrassing stories from Tim’s past in painstakingly clear detail, but she knew he secretly loved the friendship they were developing.
And on the flip side … Tim now (unwillingly) knew everything about Sabrina Carpenter after spending many nights and mornings at their apartment listening to Tamara prattle on about her favorite female artist. Tim would tease Tamara and ask if there was a friend she could call to discuss the latest Sabrina celebrity news with instead, to which she’d reply that she preferred the challenge of converting Tim to her way of thinking much more. Tamara even set a New Year’s Resolution of dragging Lucy and Tim to a Sabrina Carpenter concert, not having the slightest clue that they’d already purchased a set of VIP passes to an upcoming show for Tamara’s birthday.
It all felt natural. It felt right.
Would this fracture that feeling?
“Thank you so much, Dr. Stone,” Angela gushed into the phone. “Yes, we will head over right now. See you soon.”
“Do you want to ride with us?” Nyla asked.
“Yeah,” Lucy swallowed. “Let me just tell Tim I’m taking an early lunch and then I’ll meet you in the parking lot.”
“Okay,” Angela nodded. “Be quick.”
Lucy should have anticipated that Tim would be waiting in the hall outside of the locker room. It wasn’t lost on him that Nyla and Angela rushed out from behind her and she was sure he noticed their flustered expressions.
He waited until the other two women were out of earshot before bringing it up.
“So?” Tim asked, drawing out the end of the word into a question.
“The result was … inconclusive,” Lucy said. “I’m going to take an early lunch and pop over to the doctor’s office for a blood test. Can you manage for an hour without me?”
“Of course,” Tim said. He looked around the room. “How is it inconclusive? Isn’t it just like an aim and pee thing with a yes or no answer?”
“Yes, usually,” Lucy whispered, “but something went wrong.”
“What went wrong?” Tim asked, confusion sewn into his expression.
“I can’t go into the details right now,” Lucy said, blushing. It wasn’t like she could tell him what happened without revealing that Angela and Nyla were in the same boat and she wanted to respect their privacy. “Just trust me on this. If I don’t get the results by tonight, we can try taking another test at home after shift.”
“Okay,” Tim conceded. “Let me just get Grey to cover for me and I can come with you.”
“No, he’ll be too suspicious,” Lucy pointed out and Tim’s face dropped. “But I think after today we should make a plan to tell Grey and to tell our friends. It’s time.”
“Alright, if you’re sure?” Tim prodded, his eyes full of concern. He could always tell when she was putting on a front.
“Yeah,” Lucy said with a soft smile. “I’ll see you in a bit.”
She stopped herself from reaching out to him. She really wanted to hug him, but she couldn’t. Not here, not when they were at work and near so many prying eyes. Not when she knew she’d break as soon as his arms slipped around her.
She knew the honeymoon phase of their relationship wouldn’t last forever but to have it potentially shift so abruptly because of this new, incredibly big thing was too much for her to absorb.
She loved Tim and his reaction in the shop earlier had made her love him even more. She wanted to start a family with him eventually but she’d give almost anything to be able to do it their way and on their timeline.
Angela spotted her as she walked through the parking lot and waved her over to the unmarked vehicle. Lucy took a steadying breath and tried to push away the sinking feeling in her gut.
Angela
As they were wrapping up at the doctor’s office, Angela got a call about a homicide scene that they were needed on. After they arrived, Lucy immediately jumped into the action to help Officer Jan set the perimeter and begin canvassing for witnesses while Nyla began to interview the person who’d called in the DB to 9-1-1.
Tim gave Angela the official readout of the scene and she diligently took notes, but she couldn’t help checking her watch every few minutes. The doctor promised to put a rush on the bloodwork and said she’d call each of them with the results as soon as possible.
Angela wanted to know those results so badly. She needed to know.
“Are you okay?” Tim asked after repeating the answer to a question she already asked. “You seem off.”
She sighed despondently.
“You can’t say anything to Wes until I know for sure,” she warned and he nodded apprehensively. “I might be pregnant again.”
Tim blinked.
”For fuck’s sake, is there something in the water? ” He muttered it quietly under his breath and if she didn’t have freakishly good hearing, she would have missed it entirely.
“What?” Angela whispered irritably. “Oh my god, did Lucy tell you?”
“What? No,” Tim stammered. “Unless … What did she tell you?”
“Timothy,” Angela warned, “what did Lucy say?”
“She told me she’s late,” Tim whispered defensively. “That’s it. I had no idea you were going through the same thing.”
“Oh.” Angela shook her head, surprised that Lucy would share something so sensitive with Tim. “Forget about that. We’ll circle back to me in a second.
She knew they were close, but Lucy had to know on some level that Tim had feelings for her.
“I’m just so sorry, Tim,” Angela said with a sigh and gave his arm a light squeeze. “I didn’t even know Lucy was seeing someone.”
Tim’s jaw hung open temporarily as she watched him find his words again. Poor guy. He must be reeling.
“I’m fine,” Tim said slowly. “Really, I am. You don’t need to worry about me. Are you ok with this? You were just telling me you were pretty sure Jackson was going to be an only child.”
“No, I’m not ok,” Angela admitted. “And I feel like a terrible person saying that out loud.”
Tim slung his arm over her shoulder.
“How can I help?”
“Just moral support,” Angela said. “And let me vent and complain if this test is positive about how hard my life is, even when it might seem unreasonable.”
“Of course,” Tim said. He gave her shoulder a quick squeeze and then let her go. “What are friends for?”
“And Tim?” Angela turned so she was facing him. “I am sorry about Lucy. I really thought you two were heading in the same direction.”
She watched Tim’s expression change. She expected him to look sad, maybe a little lost, but instead she found a mixture of guilt and … something else on his face.
What was going on?
“Fuck,” he muttered under his breath. “I really should talk to Lucy before I tell you anything.”
“Tell me what?” Angela’s pulse kicked up a beat.
Tim glanced at Lucy in the distance and she saw it in his eyes. This wasn’t a man yearning, this man was adoring someone he already had.
Oh my god, how had she missed the signs?
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you,” Tim rushed to say as Angela’s eyes widened. “Lucy and I really just wanted to keep something for ourselves for a while and then I blinked and three months had gone by. Honestly, there were a number of times I was sure you’d already figured it out–”
“Oh my god,” Angela grabbed his arm and pulled him down to her level. He almost tripped over his own foot. “Are you saying what I think you’re saying?”
“If Lucy’s pregnant,” Tim whispered with a smile on his face, “that’s my kid.”
Angela felt the shout of glee build in her chest before she could contain it.
“Shhhh,” Tim looked around nervously. She could see several officers looking over at them from the corner of her eye. “You have to keep it a secret. We’re still figuring out the work side of things.”
“I am going to hug the shit out of both of you later,” Angela said with the biggest smile on her face. Then she punched Tim in the arm. Hard.
“Ow,” Tim said, rubbing the spot.
“I have been feeling sorry for you ALL day. You could have told me,” Angela scolded.
“I know,” Tim assured her. “And I trust you. We just wanted to make sure this thing was real first.”
“Is it?” She asked, even though she already knew the answer.
“Yeah,” Tim said with a deliriously happy smile. “As real as it gets.”
Angela was gearing up to tell Tim how happy she was for him when Nyla walked up and narrowed her eyes at the two of them.
“There is literally a dead body twenty feet from you,” she scolded. “Could you stop smiling so much? The other cops are starting to think you’re both sociopaths.”
“Tim was just cheering me up,” Angela explained. “What do we have?”
Angela worked to switch her brain back into work mode, but only managed to quell her excitement down to a half smile on her face as she walked the crime scene with Nyla.
Her best friend was finally happy and she knew it was the forever-kind-of-happy. She had a second-hand happy high that she just couldn’t shake.
NYLA
Nyla reached for her phone after the ding indicated she had a text message. They were getting close to wrapping up their day and had a few more solid leads to run down but it was nothing that couldn’t wait until morning.
From: Lucy | To: Angela & Nyla
Just got the call. Mine was negative! Phew! Good luck <;3
Angela sighed audibly from across the desk. She saw her shoot off a reply and then did the same. Nyla’s pulse kicked up as she realized her chances were now fifty-fifty.
When Angela’s phone rang next, their eyes met and Angela nodded before stepping away to answer. Around the same time, Tim and Lucy went into Grey’s office. It wasn’t something she would typically notice, but their body language was … strange.
Grey hung his head in his hands for a moment before looking up at both of them with a huge smile on his face. He rounded his desk and hugged them both. Lucy hugged him back enthusiastically but Bradford looked stiff and awkward.
Nyla smirked.
It looked like ‘Chenford’ (as Smitty called them) was finally coming clean.
“Nolan,” Grey opened his office door and called out. “Could you join us?”
Nyla leaned back in her chair to enjoy the show. Moments later, Nolan’s jaw dropped in complete disbelief and Nyla chuckled in her seat. She wasn’t surprised that Nolan hadn’t suspected a thing. She’d noticed Lucy and Nolan slowly drift apart after Jackson’s death. Whether that was due to their respective lives getting busier, or a subconscious decision to distance themselves from painful memories, she wasn’t sure.
Regardless, Nolan seemed genuinely happy for them.
“Nyla,” Angela said from behind her. She spun around in her chair.
“What’s the word?” Nyla asked, trying to hide the hope in her voice.
“My test was negative,” Angela said slowly. “Which means–”
Nyla’s heart pounded in her ears as her phone rang. She answered it right away.
“I’m calling for Nyla Harper.” Nyla recognized Dr. Stone’s voice from earlier.
“Hi, Dr. Stone,” Nyla said. “Thank you for rushing the test results. Lay it on me.”
“They were negative for pregnancy,” Dr. Stone cut to the chase. “But I did see something interesting in your bloodwork that makes me think you could have gotten the false positive on the take home test.”
“I didn’t know that was possible,” Nyla responded, letting the news wash over her. So she wouldn’t be a mom again. At least, not yet.
“It’s very rare, but sometimes a UTI can trigger a false positive. You do have minimal hCG levels present for detection but if you were pregnant, those levels would continue to climb throughout your first trimester and then level off,” Dr. Stone explained. “For at home test to be positive, the levels would have had to be much higher earlier today since those tests are far less sensitive than blood tests.”
“Okay,” Nyla said. “What does that mean for me?”
“I see an elevated white blood cell count in your CBC panel, which indicates an infection is probably present,” Dr. Stone said. “If you can come back in tomorrow or later this week, I can run a urinalysis to confirm it. Then we can send you home with antibiotics to treat it.”
“Other than that, I’m fine?” Nyla asked.
“Yes, as far as I can tell, you’re very healthy,” Dr. Stone confirmed.
Nyla stayed on the phone long enough to schedule an appointment and then hung up. She jerked in her seat when she realized Angela was standing right behind her.
“Jesus, wear a bell,” Nyla chided.
“So you’re–”
“Not pregnant,” Nyla finished the sentence. “Doc says I might have triggered a false positive. I probably have a UTI and I’m going back tomorrow to confirm.”
“So none of us are pregnant?” Angela asked.
“Not a one,” Nyla confirmed.
“Then maybe we should all go grab celebratory drinks?” Angela suggested.
“Rain check,” Nyla smiled politely, wishing she could match Angela’s level of relief. “I am wiped.”
“Okay,” Angela said and gathered her things. “Have a good night. I’ll see you in the morning.”
“See ya.”
Nyla sighed and let the disappointment sit with her for a minute. It’s not the right time , she told herself, and she could be okay with that.
There was a silver lining to all of this. Now she knew how she really felt about adding to her family. She made her way home to James to see if he felt the same way.
LUCY
Lucy walked across the parking lot with Tim by her side, grinning from ear to ear about finally having their relationship out and in the open.
“How are you feeling?” Tim nudged her softly with his elbow.
“About telling Grey?” Lucy asked.
“That too,” Tim nodded, “but more so about the negative pregnancy test.”
“Honestly?” Lucy bit her lip nervously. “I’m relieved. You?”
“Me too,” Tim said with a sigh.
“Really?” Lucy prodded. “I know you’re ready to start a family but–”
“Eventually,” Tim corrected her. “But right now? I’m so happy with exactly where we are.”
“Me too.” Lucy smiled up at him and grabbed his hand.
“Wow,” Tim brought her hand to his lips and pressed a quick kiss to her knuckles. “I can’t believe we can actually do this now.”
“It’s almost like we’re a normal couple,” Lucy agreed with a laugh and swung his arm playfully as they walked.
Once they at his truck, Tim twisted her in his arms.
“What are you doing?” Her voice was husky as his face neared her own.
“What normal couples do.” He slid his hand behind her neck and brushed his fingers into her hair before closing the distance between their lips. His kiss felt like a vow, holding the promise of all the amazing milestones yet to come.
“I could get used to this,” Lucy mumbled against his lips.
“You better because I’m planning to keep doing it.”
“Fine by me,” Lucy said with a smirk. “Because I’m planning on keeping you forever.”
“Forever, huh?” Tim smiled teasingly and leaned back a hair. “I’m going to need to check my schedule first.”
“Oh, do I need to call your gofer so he can pencil me into your calendar?” Lucy said with a snort.
“That would be great,” Tim tossed back but she could see the corner of his lip creeping up.
“Don’t make me hurt you,” she warned lightheartedly, swatting his chest.
He captured her wrist swiftly and pulled her in close until her arm was wrapped around his neck. She rested her other palm on his chest, inhaling sharply in anticipation.
“You know what I think?” He teased, the grumble of his voice vibrating against her wrist.
“Hmm?” Lucy hummed, her gaze dropping from his eyes to his lips.
“Forever is a really good place to start.”
When his lips crashed down on hers this time, she felt giddy butterflies take flight in her belly. Their future played like a movie on the back of her eyelids but she blinked them away. The future could wait. She was focused on the here and now with the most important person in her life.

The Rookie 5x06 Thoughts
Another Halloween episode! Is The Rookie finally establishing an actual timeline? It took a few seasons but we're here now.
Spoilers for episode 5x06 for The Rookie below. If you don't care about spoilers or have watched the episode, please enjoy!
Tumblr media
Starting off with Wopez and Elijah Stone. I'm so excited for the upcoming arc with Elijah Stone. I can easily see this arc potentially putting a strain on Angela and Wesley's relationship for a bit only for them to come out stronger like they did the first time around. When this episode's description said that Wesley knew Elijah's lawyer I didn't think it would because they were engaged previously! And then to find out he cheated on her and not the other way around was surprising.
I do wish that the writers had alluded to Wesley's previous relationship prior to this episode. The reveal felt a little bit out of place left field since there wasn't any previous discussion of Wesley being in a serious relationship before Angela. At least with Angela we do have a scene where she says she hasn't been in as serious of a relationship before Wesley.
When Wesley was explaining his former relationship with Monica (Elijah's lawyer) to Angela, I appreciated that he confirmed to Angela that he wouldn't cheat because he is truly in love with and not because he's scared of her. Wopez for the win!
The last scene between Wesley and Elijah has me excited for the rest of the arc. Also I think that Monica is already stuck under his thumb because of something he has on her or she's actively working with Elijah of her own will.
P.S. Bridget Regan's performance of Monica was great to watch I know her from White Collar. I was trying to place her for like half the episode and when I finally placed her I jumped out my seat.
Tumblr media
(I couldn't find a gif of Lisseth on the Rookie so I'm borrowing one of her from Legends of Tomorrow. She's in the last season if you want to see her in something else. Don't worry about trying to understand anything the show is basically a sci- fi crack fic so just enjoy the crazy ride.)
Celina continues become a better and better character with every episode. She's just so much fun to watch and get to know. Her falling asleep while standing up had me cracking up. The fact that she continues to process information that she sees and knows through her dreams is great. I like that Nolan doesn't brush her off even though he has his own reservations about it.
Celina and Nolan teaming up with the DEA agent to solve the case was cool to watch. The case itself was pretty interesting but I moreso enjoyed learning about the DEA agent and his connection to the case. (It was lovely to see J. August Richards again. One of the last times I saw him was on Agents of SHIELD)
Celina not being able to sleep and ending up at Nolan's house was hilarious. I was cracking up when Celina immediately passed out on the couch after listening to Nolan and Bailey argue. Celina wearing the Turning Red merch at the end was adorable.
Tumblr media
Nyla and Angela's friendship is always great to watch. All of the Wesley, Nyla, Baby Harper and Lilah scenes were great. James coming to the station with the baby was so cute. Also the way they handled Lilah being uninvited to trick or treating as a family and Nyla reassuring Lilah that she can come to them with anything was so wholesome. Honestly, I just love their whole family dynamic.
Tumblr media
And finally, Lucy and Tim. Tiny steps forward are still steps forward. Lucy pranking Tim by sending him on a goose chase around the city for his radio was peak comedy. As funny as it was to watch it also showed us just how well Lucy knows Tim and its somehow better than we originally knew.
Tim with that old giant radio and Lucy having to get a picture with it just shows that their phones camera rolls are definitely of each (and Kojo). Also the fact that Lucy called in a check in just to get Tim to raise the radio so she could get the picture was the perfect combination of smart and petty.
Pranks and Bets really are just their love language at this point.
Finally, we have officially reached Chenford pining era!!! Lucy and Tim looking back at each other in the parking lot but just missing the other looking at them. I call Lucy and Chris breaking up soon. (It would be absolutely cracked if they end up breaking up when Lucy and Tim start riding together again.)
That's it for now hope you enjoyed. Until next time have a great day or night. ✌🏾

Okay, doing my worst.. rank all the main characters we’ve ever had on The Rookie! 😇
As you wish:
Tim Bradford — This man. From that very first episode, I was invested. The way I went from thinking he was the biggest asshole on the planet to just wanting to wrap him up in a big hug in a single episode?? LOVE. His journey has been spectacular, and I'm a total sucker for character development, which is the only reason I placed him ahead of Lucy (*ask me again in five minutes and they'll swap places)
Lucy Chen — How could anyone not adore her? (Seriously, how?? I've seen some negative takes and I just cannot fathom how anyone could think a single bad thing about her.) She's kind and compassionate, whip smart and a total badass. She deserves everything!!!!!
Nyla Harper — I love her, her take-no-shit attitude is amazing, and she's such a badass. She, too, has had so much growth since her debut, and I've loved seeing her go from "I don't care about anyone, I'm just here for the pay bump" to being an integral part of the team family.
Aaron Thorsen — I'll be honest, this one surprised me. I still remember how I initially disliked him, and now here I am ranking him close to the top of my list. He just adds so much fun to the show, and I particularly love seeing him play off of both Tim and Lucy.
Angela Lopez — My queen. She's sassy and witty, but has so much heart! And I basically live for her friendship with Tim. I really hope we'll see more from her character this season and beyond, because between her pregnancies and Elijah, we haven't seen nearly enough of what she's capable of!
Wade Grey — Listen, I'm nowhere near as invested in Grey as I am most of the others, but I still love him. He's like the Papa Bear of the show. He cares so deeply for his team (and the man sees everythiiiiiing).
Jackson West — I think Jackson is the most difficult one for me to place, in part because it feels like forever ago that he was part of the show, and also because I like him less upon rewatching as I did originally? Listen, I like the idea of Jackson more than Jackson himself a lot of the time. I absolutely adore the fanfic version of Jackson, but I think he fell short in a lot of ways on the show itself. Especially following DOD, I think he could have and should have been a better, more supportive friend to Lucy. And I've never loved his sort of holier-than-thou attitude. But his place in the original crew earns him a special place in my heart (and on this list), because his good moments definitely outweigh the bad ones. And the money I'd have paid to see him reacting to Chenford?? RIP.
Bailey Nune — Is she my favourite? Absolutely not (as evidenced by her place on this list lol). But I don't always understand the way people hate on her. She's definitely shoehorned into a lot of scenes/storylines, but that's not the character's fault. And I've enjoyed her more and more as we've seen some flaws in the "I'm a master at everything I do" façade. The episode where her college(?) friend visits and she's trying to keep up? Fun! When she thinks a coyote is a puppy? Love! Calling Lucy a badass? You go girl! I hope we continue to see her interacting more with the other characters, because they're doing Bailey/Jenna a massive disservice by not mixing it up more!
Wesley Evers — I really, really like him, but compared to so many characters that I absolutely adore, he has to fall toward the bottom of the list. Hate to say it, but he doesn't really add anything to the show (🙈)? Maybe we'll see more of that now that's working for the DA's office, but as of right now, I just don't get excited when I see him on my screen.
Celina Juarez — She's fun, and I enjoy her, don't get me wrong. But I just find her behaviour as a rookie jarring when I compare it to our original trio. Though to be fair, these are more reasons to dislike Nolan as a TO than faults of Celina herself...
Zoe Andersen — Did I love her? Yes, absolutely, she was fantastic! (And her death still wrecks me every single time!) But it feels unfair to rank her higher, simply because we only had her for a short time. I often think about how things would be different if she was still around. I think she'd be a fantastic mentor for Lucy in particular.
John Nolan — Look, this ranking doesn't mean I hate him. I don't. I actually like all of these characters, that's the beauty of this show for me. But of them all, I am the least invested in Nolan. Maybe that's a byproduct of how he's been written over the last few seasons - it's hard to care too much when you know that, no matter what happens, everything's going to work out perfectly for him, you know?
Talia Bishop — She had some good moments, don't get me wrong (I especially enjoyed her dynamic with Tim), but I just didn't get on board with her character like the others.
Thanks Pauli, this was super fun, you can keep the 😇 title... (I wonder what people would say if I put Nolan at the top of my list? 😂😂😂)

Invading your ask box!
I suck at coming up with questions, so in light of manifesting season 7, what are your hopes for when we hopefully get a full season 7?
Go as wild and unrealistic as you want!
So here's the thing... it took me so long to get around to answering this that I've already seen everyone else's answers and I feel like mine is just gonna be some version of the same list. But I'm still gonna answer anyway.
Next steps for chenford, whether that's moving in together or proposal (or both). These two have been all in since day 1. While I think those things happening this season feels a little rushed, season 7 feels like a good timeline. Season 5 was the honeymoon phase. Season 6 is about growing together and learning how to communicate and navigate difficulty. Season 7 seems like a good time to be on solid footing and take those next steps.
Next steps for Lucy, professionally. Personally, I'm hoping the UC storyline will play out this season and she can move on to whatever is next for her in season 7. She would be good at so many things within the LAPD and it would be so great to see her explore her options and find her niche. Bonus points if Primm faces consequences for being a dick.
More of a support system for Lucy, and just more interaction overall between the characters. Don't get me wrong, obviously I'm excited for all the chenford scenes we get, but give me some Tim x Angela and Lucy x Angela x Nyla or Lucy x Aaron or whatever else. We need to flesh out more of those relationships between the characters rather than pairing the same people up repeatedly. I know there's only so much screentime and they have a big cast, but it would be nice to have a few eps where they shake things up a bit.
Aaron and Celina remaining friends. I just really love their friendship and don't want it to turn romantic. It's nice to have that male x female friendship represented, and it's also frankly unrealistic to have every character coupled up.
More of Tim and Lucy away from the job, with Genny, Kojo, and/or Tamara.
This may be an unpopular opinion, but please no more pregnancies. It's been done three times now, and all of them have been accidental. And as someone who is childless by choice, lets have some representation of that on screen as well. Nolan and Bailey should not have kids, and I hope that's the conclusion they come to in 6x06.
Speaking of Nolan, can we please see him face some actual consequences? He's a terrible TO and that needs to be acknowledged, and Celina needs some actual training.
And honestly, just more of what they've been doing this season. I feel like, so far, this is the most cohesive season we've had in a while. Storylines are actually carried from one episode to another and the stakes are higher, the angst is productive, and I'm just really enjoying it! It's always nice to have some humor thrown in, but I also like when they show the fallout and keep the intensity rather than passing things off as a joke.
And lastly, more of this wonderful fandom here on tumblr! The questions, the positivity, the support, the incoherent rambling in the tags, the fic, the gifs, all the other amazing art and episode analyses. Just... all of it!
I'm sure there's more and I definitely failed at being wild and unrealistic but I'm sleepy and this is all my brain can think of right now.
Thank you for the question :)
