Synopsis:
Loooking for a time of rest and recreation, the USS Enterprise is set in orbit on the amusement park planet they visited on the “Shore Leave” episode of The Original Series. A world with a technology that materializes the thoughts and desires of its visitors' minds.
Lieutenant Uhura, Doctor McCoy and Lieutenant Sulu are in the planet's surface enjoying on its landscape. Just when McCoy recalls his first visit, the White Rabbit and Alice from Alice In Wonderland make their appearence again. Then, the trio splits looking for their own enjoyment.
Tumblr media
While the doctor is relaxing with the view of a mansion of a southern plantation --like the one of the classic movie, Gone With The Wind-- he was interrupted by The Queen of Hearts from Alice Trough A Looking Glass. She was ordering her guards to behead McCoy. He has to run while he communicates with the Enterprise. The captain declared an emergency and orders all the crew to be beamed back to the ship. McCoy and Sulu are beamed up, but Uhura is captured by a hovering drone.
Tumblr media
Kirk tries to make contact with the planet's caretaker, but he got no response. Then, he decides to be beamed down with Spock, McCoy and Sulu. While they are beamed down in search for Uhura, she is imprisioned by the master computer in a cave compound. It assumes that the ship is her master. Any effort to find her with the ship's sensors is useless. It has the lieutenant captive to take control of the Enterprise and it threatens her crewmates with “turn them off”.
Tumblr media
As the landing party gets deeper into the forest, they found the tombstone of the caretaker. His death explains the misconduct of the robot machines. The master computer guides Kirk and the rest of the landing team to an area by fooling them making believe there was the master system.
Tumblr media
In that area, they face an attack by pterodactyl. They all ran to a nearby cave. Inside the cave, they face a giant cat from the outside that tries to attack them with one of his paws. Once there, McCoy remembers he was mortally wounded on his last visit by a black knight and the machines took him to the main compound to be healed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kirk devise a plan to get them to the main compound. He asks the doctor for help to fake a wound on him. McCoy uses a substance called melenex that makes a person lose his consciousness and also causes skin decoloration. It is only temporal and look worse than it is. Kirk offers himself first but Spock interrupted him because he is the most appropiate for the mission for his knowledge on computers.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the master computer is building a computer inside the Enterprise.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Once Spock is taken by hovercraft, Kirk, McCoy and Sulu ran on the hovercraft's way while they are attacked by a double headed dragon.
As Spock is ready to be “repaired” at the main compound, the captain enters the cave to stop the master computer. He and the captive lieutenant try to reasoning with the main system. It told them the caretaker died of old age and it develop self awareness and wants to go away from the planet. Its main plan is to take the Enterprise to go to the farthest regions of the galaxy to gather with its fellow computers.
Kirk and Uhura convinced the master computer that computers are made by humans to serve them and they work in harmony. That it is not a shame to serve if it is freely and in a volunteer fashion. That it would bring the whole galaxy there by showing the planet's wonderfulness. Then, the master computer change its way.

Fascinating Facts:
This is a sequel to the first season of The Original Series' episode, “Shore Leave” written by Theodore Sturgeon. There were plans for a sequel episode for TOS, but it was undeveloped.
In the TOS episode, Alice was played by actress Marcia Brown. In this episode the voice of Alice was performed by Nichelle Nichols.
Tumblr media
Actor William “Billy” Blackburn was the White Rabbit in the TOS episode. James Doohan was the voice of that character in this episode.

Crushvember 23 - Lt. M’Ress
Even before I got into anime I seemed to like catgirls.  I mean, there was the aforementioned Cleo from Dic’s Heathcliff cartoon and then there was Lt. M’Ress when I watched reruns of Filmation’s Star Trek cartoon on Sci-Fi channel.
She didn’t get as much development as I felt she deserved in said cartoon, especially considering the elaborate design they gave her, but what personality they gave her seemed fun.  She was playful yet serious and possibly got it on with Scotty in an episode.  I also liked the purring she’d do in her voice.
Supposedly she’s appeared in Star Trek novels and comics, but I doubt I’d ever get around to seeing or reading those.  It is nice she’s not forgotten though.
I wonder if any other girls from Filmation will appear in this list... hrmmm... doubt it.

I was at a loss for inspiration when @igura requested Arex and M’Ress at the beach.
M’Ress doesn’t like the water much... though to be fair, the only cats or cat-like species that really do are tigers, panthers, and jaguars, and she seems to be more lion.

Oh I watched some TAS today so here are some disproportionate doodles of the main TAS alien crew members! On the left, Lt. Arex, the helmsman besides Sulu, and on the right Lt. M'ress, who's a communication officer. I'm rly glad lower decks decided to bring the cat people back into canon.

Star Trek: The Animted Series 50th Anniversary Episode Review
Episode: The Survivor
Tumblr media
Season: 1 Episode: 6 Stardate: 5143.3 Original airdate: October 13, 1973 Written by: James Schermer Directed by: Hal Sutherland Music by: Yvette Blais and Jeff Michaels Executive producers: Lou Scheimer and Norm Prescott Studio: Filmation Associates Network: NBC Series created by: Gene Roddenberry
Cast: Captain James T. Kirk (voice by William Shatner) Mr. Spock (voice by Leonard Nimoy) Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy (voice by DeForest Kelly) Lt. Uhura, Lt. Anne Nored (voices by Nichelle Nichols) Lt. Hikaru Sulu (voice by George Takei) Eng. Montgomery Scott, Gabler, Romulan Commander (voices by James Doohan) Nurse Christine Chapel, Enterprise Computer, M'Ress (voices by Majel Barrett)
Guest star: Ted Knight as Carter Winston/Vendorian
Synopsis:
During a patrol across the Romulan Neutral Zone, Captain Kirk gives orders to set a course to the encounter a small private ship to the rescue of its passenger. The ship is registed under Carter Winston, a social prominent figure who uses his fortune to help others. Winston has been lost for five years.
Tumblr media
At the transporter room, Kirk, Dr. McCoy and Spock received Winston. McCoy gives thanks to him because he helped McCoy's daughter as one of many who survived of a famine due a crop faliure on Cerberus.Spock tells Winston that his fiancée, Security Officer, Lieutenant Anne Nored after verifying his identity tapes and a physical exam.
McCoy protest Spock's treatment to Winston but Kirk approves it telling it is a required procedure.
As Bones perform the medical examination, he notes his instruments are gaving strange readings. Like if Carter Winston is not human at all. McCoy resolves that it has to be an instruments' malfunction.
Lt. Nored makes her appearence at the medical room and had a conversation with Winston. He confesses to his former lover that he had an accidental crash on planet Vendor and he had suffered many surgeries, that he experienced many changes, so they would not going to marry her.
Tumblr media
Then, Winston moves to Kirk's office and while the captain is busy trying to find the reports on the small starship, the Vendorian deguised as Carter Winston reveals his true self. The Vendorians are are a shape-shifter's race whose presence is forbidden in the Federation's territories.
Tumblr media
He puts Kirk unconsious and assumes the captain's persona. Then he moves to the bridge and orders Sulu to set a course to Rator III no matter the helmsman's advice about crossing the Romulan Neutral Zone.
Tumblr media
As he leaves the bridge, he moves to the doctor's office and does the same the he had done with Kirk. He assumes the identity of McCoy after putting the real one to sleep.
The real Captain Kirk wakes up and moves to the bridge realizing a time has passed since he get unconsious. He asks why they are crossing the Neutral Zone of the Romulans.
Spock presents the video recording of his orders and realizes this is all a trap from the Romulans. Then Kirk orders a turn away from the Netral Zone.
Kirk and Spock moves faster to the medical office guessing that the Vendorian is right there. As soon as the captain notice the presence of the spy, he ran away fast. He was intercepted by the Lt. Nored and he assumes the Carter Winston persona again and explain Anne whatever really happened to Winston and how the Vendorians absorb the memory and feelings of the subjects they stole their identity. Nored felt uncapable of firing to him with the phaser.
The Romulans make their appearence to rightfully claim the ownership of the Enterprise. Captain Kirk refuses to give the starship because he knows the presence of the Vendoiran spy is part of the Romulan's ploy to capture the his starship.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the spy assumes the identity of one of the engineering perssonel and makes damage to the starship's shields. Scotty reports that the damage could take two hours to be repaired.
The Romulan Commander orders an attack to the Enterprise, but in a miraculous way, the shields are activated and stand the Romulans' attack. Spock asserts the spy has turned into the shield itself. Then the Vendoiran appears on his form to explain why he has done this mission. Kirk told him he is going to be judged by the Federation, but he is going to speak on his behalf.
Then, the captain put Anne Nored in charge of the Vendoiran spy.
Fascinating Facts:
The characterization of the Vendoiran spy who passed as Carter Winston was performed by actor Ted Knight. He was better known for his roles on TV shows like Ted Baxter in the Mary Tyler Moore Show and Henry Rush in Too Close for Comfort. Knight also was a regular voice actor for many other animated shows from Filmation Associates.
Tumblr media
This is the first time Dr. McCoy's daughter is mentioned. Her name is Joanna and it was planned to introduce the character in The Original Series' episode “The Way to Eden”, but it was discarded.
The character of Uhura appeared briefly on this episode but without any dialogue. Nichelle Nichols made the voice characterization of Carter Winston's fiancée, Security Officer, Lieutenant Anne Nored.
Tumblr media
The first time of the appearence of the Catian race character Lt. M'Ress voiced by Majel Barrett.
Tumblr media
The voice of the Romulan Commander was performed by James Doohan.

UFO!Original Series + continuations + reboot
I’ve already covered most of this in the Massive Mega Post (ie that really long chain of self-reblogs that not even I can be arsed to read through) but I’m putting them here in a more coherent and accessible form for my own reference and if anyone else is interested, and with some new material added. This is the one with the most plot in it.
Because all of this began with me watching ‘Survival’ and deciding it needed to be Spirkified, UFO!Kirk is analogous to Col. Foster. Foster was in command of Moonbase frequently and so is Kirk in this AU, but on a slightly more permanent/consistent basis (I think?). They put him up there mainly because they needed to do something with him, and since the highest ranking officer present was a Lieutenant this seemed like a reasonable thing to do. Said Lieutenant is not impressed with this decision. Neither is Kirk. They both agree that she’s better qualified for this job. His first meeting with Spock is pretty much a not-sad version of ‘Survival’. If this goes the way I hope it goes, they fall in love.
UFO!Uhura is the unimpressed Lieutenant mentioned above. She is analogous to Lt. Ellis, who seemed to be in command of Moonbase until Foster showed up to micromanage her and her lady staff. As previously discussed, she and Kirk have an arrangement where they share responsibilities and she’s a very competent and trusted second-in-command. And she doesn’t wear the purple and silver getup because they phased that out. She and Scotty are dating/engaged but she’s also very intrigued by T'Pring, and she ends up in a relationship with both of them. There’s a lot more about her here. (I’ve probably written more stuff about UFO!Uhura than anyone else.)
UFO!Spock is full-Vulcan and, like I said in the Massive Mega Post, is the Random Alien Guy from ‘Survival’, except he doesn’t die at the end. Since the canon motivations from UFO don’t make any sense in this AU (and half the time weren’t terribly clear or consistent in canon either) I’ve created my own based on something I saw on TVTropes and it involves a Vague and Ominous Something that I need to define stat and might actually make a separate post on. Let’s just say mind control is involved? And Spock’s broken that control or been released-presumed-dead or something and he’s currently negotiating and trying to explain this to Uhura and Kirk. Unfortunately they don’t share a common language so they’re making do with mind-melds and a crude sort of pidgin. The only person he’ll meld with is Kirk. The higher-ups are Concerned. He was never bonded to T'Pring in this ‘verse because Plot Reasons. (Seriously, the fact that they can’t be bonded is actually important to the plot and the worldbuilding; it’s not just me being vague and handwavey. It’s to do with the Something.)
UFO!Scotty is the guy who fixes the many, many things that can go horribly wrong on an installation like this. (So much potential for disaster…) He’s very much in love with Uhura, but he’s completely fine with a more open relationship as long as he’s kept informed. It probably takes him a little while to accept that Spock and T'Pring are benign but once he does he’s a really firm ally.
UFO!Bones doesn’t want to be here. At all. He doesn’t want to be living and working on a ball of rock hurtling through an airless void, and he doesn’t want to be involved in any way with blowing up other sentient beings. Unfortunately, SHADO isn’t the sort of organisation you can leave easily. Or, y’know, alive. If Kirk, Uhura and the hobgoblin (he might not want them dead but that doesn’t mean he has to like them) can end this war then he’s not going to complain. He’s pretty much in charge of the medical ward on Moonbase (which isn’t terribly well-equipped), ably assisted by UFO!M'Benga and UFO!Chapel. (Chapel and Uhura used to date, but realised they were probably better as friends. It’s working out alright.)
UFO!Sulu, UFO!Chekov, and UFO!Kevin Riley are Miscellaneous Interceptor Pilots - they might not have that big of a role but they are There and Important. UFO!Yeoman Zahra is also among their number based on one scene from Vulcan’s Vengeance (AOS comics). I’m importing Ben from AOS, but UFO!Demora is either not born yet or is just a baby.
UFO!Janice Rand is Miss Ealand, but she’d probably have greater relevance. And she hates her job. So much. If there’s a version of Holland in this AU it’s UFO!Yeoman Ross. I might dump UFO!Tonia Barrows on the hypothetical Skydiver One night shift.
The UFO versions of Lieutenants Palmer and Lisa  are basically Nina Barry and Joan Harrington.
UFO!Carol Marcus is a friend of Chapel’s from college/university and a colleague of Paul Stamets. (This gives both of them a link back to SHADO -small world or big conspiracy? Who knows? Not them!). I’m not sure if also having her as Kirk’s ex like in canon would stretch plausibility or not - let’s put a pin in it. Boop!
UFO!T'Pring holds the rank of Subcommander mainly because everyone who could have been promoted ahead of her is dead. As one of the few people to have broken free of her controller and one of even fewer uncontrolled individuals willing to fight back, she’s hijacked a ship and headed for Earth in an attempt to end the war. Or alternatively, team up with the humans to start a different, better war. She’s not quite sure yet. Her plan is to save her people, be hailed as a great hero, and bond with Stonn (who isn’t great but also isn’t awful and genuinely cares about her and is willing to put up with her offputting personality and thinly-veiled emotionalism). Nyota Uhura throws a wrench into that plan somewhat.
UFO!Sybok is Spock’s full brother and I’m not sure how much of a role he’d actually play in this, but I think he’s probably in the background trying to find a way of opposing the Something.
UFO!Sarek is an astrophysicist. He was bonded to T’Rhea (deceased), and never met Amanda.
UFO!Amanda is an English teacher and pretty much raised Michael by herself.
UFO!M'Ress, UFO!Arex, UFO!Gaila, UFO!Keenser, and UFO!Jaylah all exist but cannot appear due to the setting. I’m not even sure if Saavik’s been conceived yet so her appearance is also unlikely.
I know I said there wouldn’t be a UFO!Edith Keeler making an appearance but I think I’ve found a niche for her after all.
UFO!Nogura is analogous to Straker, and UFO!Komack to Henderson.
UFO!Martha Landon, UFO!Giotto, UFO!Hendorff and UFO!Leslie are security mooks. I am importing Hendorff’s appearance from AOS (and probably also the Cupcake thing).
UFO!Gary Mitchell probably fills the role of Foster’s dead co-pilot. Sorry, Gary. But I could give that role to any number of dead redshirt types and give Gary some plot relevance so this is subject to change.
UFO!Elizabeth Dehner is a psychologist and does Plot Things as a result of the Concerns mentioned previously. She’s an esper. Shh. It’s a secret.

Night Crew (1/2)
The Paramaribo is a Federation starship tasked with civilian transport. It has a lighter crew complement than most Federation ships, and operates with a combined operations and command division (reflected by its special red and gold uniforms). Capt. Sheleth (Shelly): The female Kasheeta captain of the Paramaribo. She works hard to earn the crew's trust. She can sometimes come across as being too impersonal or harsh, but she's trying to work on that. Shelly doesn't want her crew to forget the military nature and inherent risk of serving in Starfleet, which is one reason she picked more militaristic blue-gray uniforms instead of the standard Federation uniform for her ship. The uniforms also combine 23rd and 24th century colors, invoking the history of Starfleet. Lt. Cmdr. Ashley Rathipal: A human and an old friend of Shelly's from the Academy. Her hometown of Paramaribo, not far from the busy Federation spaceport in Kourou, is the namesake for the ship, where she's the highest-ranking officer on the night crew. She wants to be a model officer and work with a variety of alien species. Ashley is a talented athlete, especially in the high jump. She's transgender but doesn't want to make any changes to her body. Cmdr. M'Sam (Sam): A male, unusually short Caitian. He was insipred to join Starfleet by seeing M'Ress serve as an operations officer on the Enterprise under Capt. Kirk, but his talents are in the sciences. He doesn't have any desire to achieve the rank of captain, but he's the first officer on the Paramaribo, and Sheleth's unusual sleep schedule leaves him in command on a regular basis during the day shift.
