Carlos and Wanda dared themselves to a CPS challenge. What madness will happen during the challenge ?
Definitely a lot of chaos.
Creature powers that Carlos uses:
- Peregrine Falcon
- River Otter
- Chimney Swift
- Pronghorn
- Dragonfly
- Pine Marten
- Alligator
- Blue Jay
- Loggerhead Shrike
Creature powers that Wanda uses:
- Northern Goshawk
- Largemouth Bass
- Purple Martin
- Thomson’s Gazelle
- Hummingbird
- Gray Fox
- Crocodile
- Gray Squirrel
- Eastern Kingbird
The challenges:
1. Who’s the fastest in the air? Turns out peregrine falcons are super fast in a dive, but when it comes to maneuvering through the forest, the goshawk wins. Result: Tie
2. Swimming contest: otter vs. bass. Winner: Wanda, in her bass suit.
3. Are swifts or swallows more maneuverable in flight? Winner: Tie
4. Who’s the fastest runner: the gazelle or the pronghorn? Winner: Carlos, with pronghorn powers.
5. Dragonfly vs. Hummingbird obstacle course. Winner: Wanda, with hummingbird powers.
6. Climbing contest: Pine marten vs. Gray fox. Winner: Carlos, with pine marten powers.
7. Alligator vs. Crocodile. Winner: Tie
8. Blue Jay vs. Gray Squirrel. Result: Carlos’s suit malfunctioned and he turned into an oak tree. Wanda had to trade in her squirrel powers for goshawk powers to go get help quickly.
9. Shrike vs. Kingbird. Another tie.
Notes:
- This is the first time Carlos uses Chimney Swift powers. He asked Aviva to make the disc because he wanted to prove that swifts were faster than swallows.
- Wanda keeps alligator and crocodile teeth for the sole purpose of “you never know when you need the creature powers of a crocodilian!” Same goes for the gazelle skull.
- There’s a rumor that the blue jay disc is cursed. It seems to malfunction whenever anyone is trying it for the first time.

August 12 - 13, 2023
- Loggerhead Kingbird
- Rameron Pigeon
- Gray-backed Tailorbird
- Gray Catbird
- Gabela Akalat
- Bronze Ground Dove
Wish I had used a different ref for that catbird, wasn't until after I was done that I noticed they have a distinct brown patch under the tail, which I could have shown off if I'd drawn it in a different pose.

My ABA Life List, as I wrote it down the other day
I’m being a bit conservative here because I’m going by memory, so I pretty much write off any birds that I can’t identify on the spot, unless they’re really common. So ducks, empids, shorebirds, gulls, drab warblers, and emberzids are probably all undercounted.
