I really haven't talked about them in a while but I started working on them again so I'd be glad to talk about them again!

The first (and less fleshed-out one) is Live From Riverfalls.

The lovely town of Riverfalls has recently gotten a new radio host! Mike quickly becomes a local celebrity at the radio station and among the townsfolk. Everyone loves his levelheadedness, his easygoing demeanor, the way he always explains current happenings so clearly despite the lack of interesting things to report on in the small town. Mike, however, sees things very differently. Strange happenings begin creeping into his life, things only he ever seems to notice. Things begin to seem just slightly... off. Perhaps he's losing his mind. Perhaps his coworkers aren't being fully truthful. And perhaps Mike has some secrets of his own.

The second (and more thoroughly written so far) is Voyage.

Mel wakes up on a ship, in the middle of the ocean, surrounded by strangers, with absolutely no idea how she got there. She is greeted by Blue, the ship's AI system. She quickly meets the rest of the crew, who all share the same story: waking up on the ship with no idea how or why they were there. The questions intensify as they soon begin to realize that they may not be alone on the ship. Time is a funny thing, after all, and sometimes echoes of the past slip through.

I hope these interest someone, they're a bit rough right now but I'm diving back in. Questions are welcome, and if there's interest I may share some other scenes from them!

She thrives at Southside High, it may be a piece of shit but it’s hers to cause trouble and do whatever she wants. But then, Southside High closes. She has to transfer to Riverdale High, separate from most of her friends and forced with Serpent transplants. It’s fine, she can cause trouble and bother the Serpents and the fiery redhead cheerleader, none of them want her here so might as well have fun with it, right?

Dear Future Self... May 1, 23

Wow okay. I can’t even think of where to begin with Jamaica.  Literally what an amazing trip.  So first night we get in, our cabby gave us a joint which was awesome. Had dinner and listened to some live music and dancing. We went a little hard being our first night and stayed out till 2am. The power went out in our room for half hour though so that sucked, but they had upgraded us when we arrived because someone else was in our original room so we got a really nice room.  Second day was great, breakie and hung by the pool. Enjoyed drinks and chilled in the pool. Did some dance lessons, water arobics and a pool game which ended up with Olivia and I’s team winning. Some good lookin guys but mostly everyone was with someone. Had dinner at the pasta place I think which was ok, not the best and I think just walked around, enjoyed music etc. We took it easy as we booked an excursion the next day. Monday we went on a catamaran which was such a beautiful day, went snorkeling on the reef and then to dunns riverfalls which was literally incredible. 900km walk up a waterfall, it was so damn beautiful, I’m SO thankful that the people emailed me because I definitely want the photos & video to remember because I didn’t get anything and it was just breath taking. Then had a little party on the catamaran back to Margaritaville and drank and ate. It was such a great day. That evening we ate at Blue Moon which was pretty good, I think I had salmon? It was so good, there was live music outfront too so we listened and enjoyed. Walked the resort again. We literally did like 20-30k steps a day on top of the pool and dancing. Tuesday we did a beach day, spent the morning at the pool and beach for the afternoon, it was so gorgeous out. I can’t remember if it was this day that I was pointed out by Kyash to be the ESPN for the pool challenge, that was really funny. That evening we ate at the Steak House which turned out to be our favorite, it was so good. That night was the White Party which was so much fun, we drank a lot. Kyash was the DJ and was just so hype, idk how this guy had so much energy, he was amazing. That was the start of our little fun time together, I got him a drink or two and we danced. Went ended up at the disco that night also and smoked our joint, we met Jake whom we started to try to get Olivia set up with. We had a midnight snack at Route 66 which was a really funny night. Wednesday? we did another pool day and the lazy river which again was so funny and so much fun, the sunset was so beautiful that night wow. Got a lot of great photos, drank margaritas while we played Catan and listened to Raggae. I got up for the sunrise on thursday which was beautiful as usual, did some dance by the pool with our boy Kyash, we were trying to get tattoos so Kyash got my number and then started texting me and asked if we wanted to go smoke with him just off the beach so we did. It’s weird how I felt so chill around him. More dance lessons, we went for japanese grill that night which was good. Found our Jake that night for Olivia and smoked more, I was actually a little high most of this day funny enough but it was really good. Spent the evening being on the same wave length as Amber, it was hilarious. Olivia got super drunk, mom came out to party for sure so Amber and I kept leaving them to their alone time. We were trying not to cock block olivia but Kyash also wanted to spend time together but I was too nervous that night, plus that night was wild. We saw a crazy shooting star and an owl all before Jake stepped on Olivia’s toe and her nail came off so that sobered us up super quick. Friday we spent by the pool again, we won trivia this day, I got Kyash a drink again and he was whistlin at me from the bathrooms. It was cute, he definitely was around me most of the day. I had visited him off the beach again before he started his afternoon shift and then he hung around a lot that afternoon, did some more dance lessons but he had snuck out, poo guy’s vehicle broke down. He came back for his evening shift and we listened to music again. There was a silent disco that night which was super fun, Kyash and I went & sat together and just talked. It was really nice, very down to earth and genuine. Talked a lot about struggles and relationships and hard times in life but his positivity was so contagious and honestly so sexy. (of course his dancing was the hottest thing ever too) He really wanted me to meet him after work that night, which was our last night there. The girls were very sweet & we made a plan so I met up with him off the beach again at like 11:30pm. Weirdly was not nervous or scared. I really trusted him, which you could say was SUPER niave but meh, what happens in Jamaica stays in Jamaica right? It was an experience. We had really good conversation and exchanged a kiss or two perhaps but I’ll leave it at that. Don’t need to be sharing all my secrets now do I! Anyways, it was honestly probably the best trip I’ve been on. Olivia & Amber were amazing, we literally laughed so much and had the best time ever. I couldn’t have imagined it to be any better than it was (maybe other than getting my period cause that sucked again). Truly so happy, so blessed to have done that trip. We’re already talking about making it a yearly thing and going on more so I’m really happy. So many experiences and so many memories. Truly a trip I will never forget.

had a dream about turning blood into gold

In the past, there was a kingdom which sprang up along a powerful river, which fed into a waterfall that filled the valley. Over the course of many years, the kingdom constructed a massive damn to slow the waterfall, making the valley into viable land to expand into.

Years later, when the old waterfall is a distant memory, a prince falls for the castle alchemist. She's been researching, as all alchemists are want, how to turn various compounds into gold. This intrigues the prince, and the two work together. She scours the old tomes, and he uses his connections to acquire more from across the land, and to query other powerful alchemists.

In a moment of fervour, she figures it out. In the dream its not quite specified what her method is, but it involves a religious revelation on her part - possibly a gift from a higher power. When she cuts her palm, it is not blood that flows, but gold.

She informs the prince, now king, about her success. She brings him into this small growing cult, blessing his conversion to the faith using the water of the riverfall and including both of their bloods in the flow.

With this power, the kingdom grows incredibly wealthy, with the king selectively inducting various trusted warriors and advisors into the cult. At some point, he has the alchemist killed - its unclear why, either being because she had become disillusioned with using the life of people to create wealth, or because she was working on a way to convert gold into blood. He grieves, and he keeps his gold circle small.

For a time, there is a confused peace under him and his successors. The power is used sparingly, blood taken voluntarily or only from those who are doomed to die. But that is a narrow line to walk - how far is too far?

When one of the kings is killed in an accident, his cousin takes the throne. He lacks the restraint of his forebears, and under him the faith spreads like fire. Prisoners are killed for the wealth in their veins, and the world looks to the waterfall with fear.

War comes to the kingdom. The castle at the edge of the falls is sieged. In the chaos, the king is slain by a young warrior, and the dam is destroyed. The building, much of the surrounding city, all of it falls into the raging flow of a waterfall long contained, and the valley is flooded.

The kingdom fades into myth as its people scatter. The old magic dies with its king.

Except that the creatures that live around the valley lake seem to become riddled with iron and gold growths that writhe through their veins, making them difficult to kill. The valley is utterly deserted as these monsters spread. It's cursed, they say. The water is full of sickness and death.

In the future, groups have arisen to contain the creatures and protect the towns and cities. Many of these operate under the umbrella of a single corporation, who brands itself an explorer of science. As its employees battle the beasts of gold and iron, they seek to reverse engineer this contagion, and use it to empower their own soldiers. Each experiment performed results in the death of the volunteer - though, are they all volunteers?

Out in the wastes, by the lake, a man is found. He has no idea where he has come from, or who he is. He is taken in by one of the wandering groups, and when they are ambushed by gold beasts, he proves himself a reasonably adept fighter.

He is brought to the corporation headquarters. A scientist talks to him about their purpose, their plans, their goals. He suggests himself as a candidate for an experiment, much to the scientist's surprise. Does he really understand what he's getting himself into? He has seen the beasts by the lakeside and the damage they have done, the scars writ large on the landscape and her people. Why not try?

He is taken to the glistening facility on the hill, bade farewell by the soldier who had accompanied him this whole way. On the table, he is placed in a cast, and a compound is pumped into the space between. The pain is excruciating as the liquid seeps into his skin, and the screams echo familiarly through the hall. The scientists adjust their ear muffs and focus on the numbers, on the machines, and the technique.

The liquid is drained, and the cast cracked. A scientist clad in protective gear approaches, and helps the man to sit. He white knuckles the edge of the table, face contorted into a grimace. But he does not fall.

A scientist compares results to previous experiments.

Slowly, the man is coaxed into standing. He wavers, a hand to his head. The chief scientist relays commands, flatly, hardly observing proceedings - each has been the same.

He performs the small tasks asked of him - taking steps, sitting back down, stretching out his arm. Until, abruptly, he slumps back against the table. There's an audible sigh of disappointment from the arrayed scientists, and someone prepares to mark him down as a failure.

The scientist at his side speaks.

He is not dead. He is asleep.

There is a rush of activity as a disused medical procedure is enacted to take the man to somewhere comfortable under supervision.

Hey! Since there isn’t a specific question here (which it COMPLETELY fine!) I’ll just give you the general rundown on them, okay? Here we go:

Voyage

The story starts with our main character, Mel. She is on a family cruise when a storm hits.

She wakes up on a different ship, one she doesn't recognize. She's greeted by the robotic voice of BLUE, who exists as part of the ship's PA system. She soon meets Jack, the ship's engineer, who leads her to meet Ava, the ship's captain.

Mel quickly learns that all is not as it seems on this ship. The ship is haunted by the ghosts of the previous crew, whose death remains a mystery.

In the weeks following her mysterious appearance on the ship, Mel meets the rest of the crew, as well as the rarely-seen-but-definitely-there ghosts, and more questions arise with very few answers to be given.

How did she get there? What happened to her family's cruise? What happened to the original crew of the ship? Can Mel get back home?

All they can do, for now, is complete their voyage.

The story centers around Mike, a radio host in the small town of Riverfalls. He has a simple and comfortable job reporting the town news. It's quite uninteresting.

Then weird things start to happen. Weird things that only Mike seems to experience. No one else has even the slightest clue something is wrong, and Mike wants to know why. But is he prepared for what he may discover?

(I’ll admit, this one isn’t as planned out as Voyage is yet.)

Hello, dear! You've been visited by the random character question fairy! :D ~☆

How does your character deal with the past? Are their coping mechanisms healthy? If not, what are the repercussions of these unhealthy coping mechanisms?

Okay so I used a random choice wheel to pick which character to use and it landed on Mike which on one hand gives me a great chance to share something I've been wanting to for a while now but on the other hand means I have to figure out his backstory :/ Anyways lets go!

Mike deals with his past by devoting everything he has to figuring out what happened. It's the reason he has that job in the first place, and why he doesn't really have any friends outside of the people he's met through work. It's not the worst coping mechanism in the world, but it does end up mentally exhausting him whenever he runs into a dead end, and really makes him distance himself from the people and world around him. Part of him seems stuck in the past, and will probably stay that way until he finds the answers he's looking for.

Okay so I was reading the Live From Riverfalls thing and found this:

DAN: [With none his usual cheer] Well done, Mike. Well done.

Since the only thing we know so far of Dan is his... reveal, what would be an example of his cheer?

Ok so I want to answer his ask before I completely forget so here's a quick example that's not pulled from the script. (Might give a better, more relevant example sometime else)

So an example scenario: Mike and Robin are walking to the radio station and they happen to run into Dan at the door.

DAN: Hi Mike!

MIKE: Uh... Hi? Sorry, do i know you?

ROBIN: [confused] You know Dan. He works here.

MIKE: No he doesn't?

ROBIN: [defensive and a bit upset] Why are you-

DAN: [brightly] Oh don't worry, Robin, it's alright! We don't talk much, different departments and all.

MIKE: [to himself] Departments? Since when do we have...

DAN: We should really talk more often, Mike! Oh, how about we all meet up after work tonight? As a little work party or something?

MIKE: Uh... Sure?

ROBIN: Sounds fun!

DAN: Great! See you then!

Ignore the terrible dialogue I'm tired.

But yeah, you can kinda hear the smile in his voice I guess. He's at ease with everyone, like he's been there forever.

Hey! I read the two podcast/audio drama scripts you posted and they’re great! You asked for questions so here goes- What is the relationship between Ava and Jack? What is the power dynamic between them? Is there anyone else on the boat? What is Blue? Are Ava and Jack aware of it? How did Melody get onto the ship? I’d probably need to read more of the other one to think of questions for it, but it seems really cool! Also if/when you need actors for either of these, I’m alwaysss down to VA!! :)

Hey, thanks for the questions! (Sorry I didn’t answer sooner, I didn’t see this ask until this morning.)

What is the relationship between Ava and Jack? What is the power dynamic between them?

Ava and Jack haven’t known each other for too long, but they’re pretty good friends most of the time. At the very least they tolerate each other. As far as power dynamics go: Ava, as captain, obviously has more control of the crew of the ship (which includes Jack) but she’s really good at listening to other people’s opinions and ideas, and Jack is the one who keeps the ship running, so I’d say they’re almost even power-wise.

Is there anyone else on the boat?

There is! I haven’t introduced them yet because I want to take a little more time to fully work out their characters, but I can tell you that there are at least two more (living) crew members.

What is Blue? Are Ava and Jack aware of it?

This is another thing I need to fully work out, but to put it simply: Blue is a robotic help system programmed throughout the ship. It can help with things like communication and simpler, programmed tasks. It’s not an AI, think more along the lines of an Alexa. As for the second part of this question, yes. Though they aren’t 100% sure how it works (Jack’s working on figuring that out), they are aware of it and some of its functions. 

How did Melody get onto the ship?

Well, you’ll just have to wait and find out! 

Also if/when you need actors for either of these, I’m alwaysss down to VA!

Lmao I’m sure it’ll be a long while before then, but I’ll keep you in mind!
