The show ended with Leyla Piedayesh holding a sign declaring, “I’M AN IMMIGRANT”. Before I get into the political discussion of that, I want to rewind to the begin of the show. Oh, now that I think about it, you can’t even avoid politics when talking about this collection.
Lala Berlin
The collection was not only bold as in the colors and the word printed on fabric. Some of the text was reminiscent of what one would expect from a graphic tee, these made a statement of their own.
CHANGE, REVOLUTION and THINK were the words printed across some of the garments. To be honest, I really did not notice the words. It flew by so fast.
The color combination in the collection had a striking earth tone hue to it, red, mustard yellow, black and grey. I love the looks with the trench, those looks were strong with a sexy silhouette.
The collection also embodied traditional look with out of the box thinking. Combination of minimalist look with romantic undertones, incorporating subtle fabric deconstruction of sleeves and unpredictable cuts in gowns.
Creating an elegant flow to the walk of the model down the catwalk. Now about that walk, the shoes, the shoes! Those were something you could not miss. They were laced up pointy ankle boots that flowed lovely with the overall look. These shoes have the boxers’ shoes feel to them, sporty.
The fabric selection works wonderfully with these designs. Knits, leather, floral voile and velvet with a dash of laces were some of the fabrics I spotted. I may be wrong on these selections but that is what they look like. I really think these fabric selections covers almost all the autumn-winter needs.
I think I’ve covered it all on the collection, now back to politics. I really, really did not expect things to be moving this fast with the new administration in the states. It’s almost like a wrecking crew is in town.

I have to inspire my precious @heyitstya and @karyn_ayu #shero #barbie #champion #iran #berlin #germany #entrepreneur LEYLA PIEDAYESH Designer and Entrepreneur, Germany 2018 Barbie Shero Leyla Piedayesh was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1970. She is the founder of fashion label lala Berlin. After studying business administration, Leyla first came into contact with fashion professionally as editor of the television show, Designerama, on German MTV. In 2003, she began exploring her own design talent by making knitted accessories. Her celebrated debut collection was launched in 2004 at the fashion tradeshow Premium in Berlin where her trademark look was cashmere scarves with Palestinian style. The symbiosis of urban cool, elegant chic, and high-quality knitwear really took off, and lala Berlin was born. Since then, lala Berlin has grown to represent more than knitwear, but to encompass Berlin’s big-city, bohème and avant-garde style that the brand conveys to the rest of the world. Barbie Unveils 17 New Dolls Based On Inspiring Women Like Frida Kahlo And Chloe Kim, And We Want Them All
Barbie dolls have been introducing girls to beauty and fashion trends for 58 years, but recently the company decided to switch things up. To better understand what the current society needs, Barbie surveyed 8,000 mothers. It found out that 86% of them are worried about what kind of role models their daughters are exposed to, so the company created 17 dolls of real and inspiring women.
“Girls have always been able to play out different roles and careers with Barbie and we are thrilled to shine a light on real-life role models to remind them that they can be anything,” senior vice president and general manager of Barbie, Lisa McKnight, said in a news release.
Each “Inspiring Women” doll comes with educational information about the way each woman shaped society. The lineup consists of both historical and modern-day figures. Amelia Earhart, the first female to fly across the Atlantic Ocean and Frida Kahlo, the acclaimed Mexican artist and activist, are among them. Although the series has only three dolls so far, the lineup is set to grow with the release of new ones, a spokeswoman for Mattel said.
Barbie also made new additions to its Shero program, which began in 2015. The initiative has already honored such history-making women like Ibtihaj Muhammad, Misty Copeland, Ava DuVernay, Eva Chen, and Ashley Graham. Now, it’s celebrating even more modern-day figures: gold-winning Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, world-renowned chef Hélène Darroze, and others.

Barbie Unveils 17 New Dolls That Pay Tribute To Famous Inspiring Women
With the Barbie Inspiring Women collection, the Mattel brand has just unveiled 17 new dolls, paying tribute to the most inspiring women. Artist Frida Kahlo, aviation pioneer Amelia Earhart, French chef Hélène Darroze, mathematician Katherine Johnson and snowboarder Chloe Kim are some of the great female figures that the famous Barbie doll will embody.
Launched nearly 60 years ago, the Barbie doll has become a true icon, and the brand wants today to give a new dimension, less superficial, to this doll that inspires many little girls around the world.

This International Women's Day, Barbie is honoring accomplished role models with their very own dolls. From aviator Amelia Earhart to USA Olympic snowboarder Chloe Kim, Barbie created 17 realistic-looking dolls inspired by impactful women from all different backgrounds and occupational fields. In addition to Kim, the modern-day dolls include Wonder Woman filmmaker Patty Jenkins, wildlife conservationist Bindi Irwin, championship boxer Nicola Adams, windsurfer Çağla Kubat, chef Hélène Darroze, volleyball champion Hui Ruoqi, and designer and entrepreneur Leyla Piedayesh. In honor of #InternationalWomensDay, we are committed to shining a light on empowering female role models past and present in an effort to inspire more girls. Over the years, the initiative has honored history-making women like Ibtihaj Muhammad, Misty Copeland, Ava DuVernay, Eva Chen, and Ashley Graham. "Sheroes are given the Barbie brand’s highest honor, a one-of-a-kind doll made in their likeness, in celebration of their roles in expanding the possibilities for girls everywhere," the company noted. In addition to the modern-day Sheroes, Barbie introduced dolls of three impactful women from history this year: aviator Amelia Earhart, artist Frida Kahlo, and mathematician Katherine Johnson. Image: barbieThough the 14 modern-day role model dolls are one-of-a-kind and not currently available for sale, the three dolls in the historical Inspiring Women line are currently available for pre-order, and will be available for purchase in the coming months. To participate in the call to inspire women around the world, Barbie is also encouraging fans to share women who inspire them on social media using the hashtag #MoreRoleModels. International Women's Day takes place on March 8. WATCH: This suitcase can transform into a stroller for your child
