Autumn Looks in Shades of Chestnut and Rose
The full beauty of autumn in NYC.  Leaves changing color, whispers of cold air passing through, and quiet moments between here and there.
Sharing two looks today – a color story of beige in Central Park and shades of rose-red in Times Square.  Both looks embrace the essence of autumn.
Pockets of foliage are changing colors in Central Park and it’s breathtaking.  This is just the beginning, so expect more blog posts from this incredible place =)  Celebrating the different textures and colors of Central Park, I wanted to create a look that captures the harmony of patterns, anchored by shades of orange, chestnut, and ecru.  Mixing plaid with checkerboard prints in similar color palettes, I pulled out one of my favorite trench coats and turtlenecks.  Pairing them with chestnut colored accessories to pull the look together, I relied on my go-to pieces – this ‘Alunna’ bag and classic tan suede pumps.
I’m not much of a pink gal, but I love it when pinks are used in strong looks, like a suit.  The balance of something soft like rose colors with something structured like pants suits are a winning combination in my humble opinion.  Playing with the idea of pinks + reds, I layered my pink suit (currently sold-out, but here are some amazing ones: Ted Baker soft pink suit, Rachel Zoe magenta pink suit, ASOS double-breasted light pink blazer) with a merlot bag.  I love the style and design of these bags.  It feels a little vintage.  Maybe because of it’s tall briefcase-feel rectangle-ish shape?  A little familiarity mixed with something modern!
I hope you enjoy both looks!  As always, thank you so much for reading!

The Artemis Website is Up! A Celebration!
Celebrating the moments of Up!  The Artemis website is up, inspired by the movie Up, and our dedication continues to go up and up!
Truly a labor of love, our Artemis site is up!  I went back to our development emails and they were from January 2020.  From January to March, we worked on it slowly.  When COVID-19 hit in late March, our world stopped.  Colin and I regrouped, dug our heels in, and focused all of our efforts into the website.  Between constantly sanitizing the shop to creating a CBD online experience, we finally reached the end.  The site is LIVE!!!
We waited a year to create an online experience, because we wanted to learn and understand real stories and real journeys from people first.  Every client that walked into the shop gave us invaluable insight and empowered us to create an online CBD destination that is truly personal.  We are physician-led, science-rooted, and personalized wellbeing-focused.  Weaving efficacy and relief together with the necessities of modern living, our goal is to create a meaningful CBD experience that’s an ode to your life’s fullest expression.
Tumblr media
One of the things I’m extremely passionate about is promoting women-owned and BIPOC brands (Black, Indigenous, People of Color).  We are constantly developing this category and can’t wait to onboard more high quality BIPOC brands, and share their voices and stories.
One of the things that make Artemis unique is our commitment to your wellness journey.  A major struggle at the start of a CBD journey is usually dosing.  Basically, how much to take.  For each CBD drops, we will create a personalized dosing guide for you.
One of my favorite topics – skincare!  We searched high and low, and curated a full collection of CBD skincare heroes.  Personally, CBD skin oils have helped me tremendously.  I had a really bad allergic reaction, and a rash formed and traveled to my forehead, cheeks, and chin.  I was put on antibiotics, but my skin texture struggled to get back to normal.  My face was dry, the aftermath of the rash left blotches of red bumpy spots all over my face, and the overall texture was rough.  I carefully exfoliated, but the real heroes were my skin oils.
After washing and exfoliating my face, I applied a quarter of a dropper of my Saint Jane beauty oil and put a sheet mask over it.  I let the sheet mask dry out (not completely but about 80%) and my skin completely changed.  I did this for about 5 days straight, and my skin was deeply hydrated, super super smooth, and bouncy again.  Now, I use this technique as a treatment once a week or if I need an extra boost before an important day or occasion.
Tumblr media
We had so much fun shooting the homepage images!  The art direction for this season is the theme of home.  Little corners and small moments of here and there.  Something familiar yet new, warm and comforting.
Mind & Body
Tumblr media
Nuleaf - Overall help with anxiety and stress
Tumblr media
Bloom Farms - One of the best CBD oils for Sleep
Tumblr media
Wildflower - great for sore muscles and cramps for PMS pain

Beauty & Skincare
Tumblr media
Saint Jane - to delay cellular aging, soothe complexion, and more!
Tumblr media
Beboe face mask - Deeply moisturizing and brightening, layer over CBD face oils!
Tumblr media
Vertly - I use this as a body treatment for dry skin
Tumblr media
Life Elements - to help reduce sore muscles and cramps, soak after a long day at work
– SOME OF MY FAVORITES –
Nuleaf CBD daily wellness – I’ve been taking Nuleaf for over a year now to help with my pelvic floor spasms, pain, PTSD, and anxiety.
Bloom Farms CBD sleep – one of the best formulas for sleep!  A little goes a long way to help achieve deep restorative sleep.  When I wake up, I feel like I just slept for years!
Wildflower CBD stick – I’m on my third stick now.  I use it during my PMS and rub it on my stomach and lower back.  On days when I feel sore, I rub it on my shoulders and feet.  The roll-on application makes it easy to give extra attention to areas like the lower back, neck, and shoulders.
Saint Jane CBD skin oil – I have a few that I rotate between, but this one is my go-to!  It helped me heal from the inflammation, it soothed the skin, and gave me a smooth soft texture.
Beboe CBD face mask – the trick is to exfoliate with your favorite exfoliator.  Wash and dry face. Then apply the Saint Jane face oil on, wait a few seconds, and apply this mask over it.  Wait for the mask to dry out (about 80% dry is perfect), peel off, press the remaining oil into face, wait a few minutes, and apply your favorite cream or moisturizer.  Transformation to smooth, clear, and glowy skin complete!
Vertly CBD lotion – to help combat dry skin, I apply this on my legs and body right after showering.  It has a beautiful scent and is lightweight so it absorbs quickly, leaving behind supple and smooth skin and is ideal for stressed muscles and overworked limbs.
Life Elements CBD bath bombs – this is a treat!  Designed for relaxation and to help reduce sore muscles and cramps, soak after a long day at work, as a way to de-stress, and to help relieve aches and pain.
Please let me know how you like the site.  Your thoughts are greatly appreciated it!  We also have a great Journal section full of guides, education, and navigation.  Thank you so much for reading!  Thank you for being on this journey with me.  Thank you thank you.

New Look! Autumn Beauty Story
Playing with new looks and autumn colors today!  A palette of amber, chestnut, and golden hues.
2020: Wendy? Me: Who?
Switching it up and taking in a full breath of autumn, both in beauty colors and style.  Pulling out my rust brown blazer and shorts, and pairing them with orange creme lips and soft bronze eyes.  A slight departure from my minimalistic makeup looks, I really wanted to step out of my routine and embrace fall.  Not only that, I haven’t worn full makeup colors in a long time so it was refreshing and fun to play with lip colors and eyeshadow again!
I’ve always wanted to cut my hair short and entertained the thought of adding bangs.  A day later, I’ll change my mind.  And then… a few weeks later, maybe?  No, no.  This internal dialog plays out for months.  Finally, the answer was experimenting with a hair piece!  Now, the question is to cut or not to cut!
Fall Beauty Story
L'Oreal
Julep
Stila
Revlon
Habit Cosmetics
Habit Cosmetics
Burberry
Just like fashion, when it comes to makeup I love mixing high and low, and greatly appreciate the range of offerings Walmart has.  I’ve posted about this liquid eyeliner for years now and it’s still one of my favorites – the Stila ‘Stay All Day’ liquid eyeliner (I wear Intense Black).  I’m also a fan of this Revlon ‘Photoready’ stick!  I love the Nude Kiss color, and wear it as a nighttime blush color, daytime soft contour shade, and even as a lip color.  This Julep palette embraces fall wholeheartedly!  From beautiful copper shades to neutral colorways, this eyeshadow palette is a lovely all around versatile beauty piece.
And last but not least for fall beauty, this L’Oreal lip color in Volcanic!  It’s a rich creme texture in a beautiful orange shade.  To deepen the color, I layered a nude-brown lipliner underneath and added two swipes of Volcanic (blotting in between application).
The beauty of autumn comes in forms of golden leaves, cozy sweaters, and bronze orange beauty looks.  A perfect blend that feels peaceful, comforting, and oh so chic!  For a wide breath of autumn beauty favorites, stop by the Walmart fall beauty collection.  It’s a great way to create surprise and delight moments by discovering unexpected shades and colors (like this orange one!).  And I do appreciate the next day/2 day delivery option!
I hope you enjoy this beauty look and post.  Thank you so much for reading and special thanks to Walmart for partnering on this post!

Return of the Statement Blazer
My love for blazers is never-ending.  I wear them with shorts, belted as dresses, layered underneath coats, and so much more.  They make me feel alive, strong, and confident.
Blazers – in all shapes, prints, and colors – are great investments because they’re truly transeasonal.  They serve as great layering pieces in the winter and spring under coats and trenches.  On cooler summer nights and onto autumn, they’re the perfect statement piece.  And nowadays with Zoom meetings, they’re the ultimate professional piece on top with pajama shorts!
Return of the Blazer
Banana Republic
Topshop
ISABEL MARANT ÉTOILE
L'AGENCE
Banana Republic
Blazé Milano
H&M
From sophisticated plaid to classic white to sleek pink, these are some of my favorite cuts and style.  Some have strong shapes (like this H&M checked beige blazer) that work so well for that boy-meets-girl look, while others are sleek (like this L’AGENCE cutaway blazer) with a natural contour shape for that soft feminine touch.
Happy Friday everyone and thank you so much for reading!  Have a great weekend and talk to you soon!

Almost Autumn in Downtown
A lot of my friends have reached out asking about New York.  Some fear that the death of New York is imminent, while others are hopeful that the spirit of New York will survive this.
Almost autumn in New York.  A sweater weather comfort that feels so calm and peaceful.
Speaking of calm, I rarely shoot in the theater district because it’s usually extremely crowded.  Lots and lots of people.  And buses and cars.  Just overwhelming overall.  For a clear shot, we’d have to get there at sunrise to beat the crowds.  This time, it’s a lot different.  Small crowds, few cars, and little foot traffic.  A lot of my friends have reached out asking about New York.  Some fear that the death of New York is imminent, while others are hopeful that the spirit of New York will survive this.  Some days, I feel both.  The foot traffic at Artemis is nothing like it was last summer and some of our close clients have moved out of state.  Walking through Time Square and the theater distinct though, I do feel the spirit of New York.  It’s almost like a sleepy giant about to wake up from its nap.  I remain hopeful, because I have to be.  There’s no other place I’d rather be.
With autumn at our front door, sweater weather is a much welcomed tradition.  In my humble opinion, one of the queens of fall styling is my dear friend, Marissa Webb.  I have these leather pants in black (as seen here) and they are one of my absolute favorites.  This chestnut edition is gorgeous as well and works beautifully with brown tones, winter whites, shades of blue, and more.  And this sweater can be worn buttoned up or as a cut out detail at the shoulder.  Super chic and cozy!
I’ve been away from posting for the last few weeks to focus on Artemis.  We intentionally waited to build a website.  In the world of website first, brick-and-mortar second, we knew it looked like we were going backwards.  We waited, because we wanted to see, hear, and experience the real human stories first.  Every story that was shared and every frustration that was uttered, we actively sought out solutions.  And in the end, I’m so glad we waited.  The Artemis website is a manifestation of lived experiences – both personally of our own and from the clients who visited our shop.  There are 3 things on the site that I’m personally passionate about:
True Personalized Wellness | When it comes to CBD dosing, it was something I struggled with when I first started.  And we don’t want anyone else to feel the same way I did.  Working with scientific and medical experts, we offer complementary personalized dosing journals and guides tailored to each person.
BIPOC & Women-Owned Brands | In this industry (and many other industries), funding is much harder and more limited to women and/or communities of color.  Before recent tragic events, we wanted to build out a section to highlight BIPOC and women-owned brands.  It was always in our DNA.  With the website, we were able to make a deeper commitment.
Community Care | This is something I’m very passionate about.  For those who are currently experiencing financial distress, at Artemis we created a program to help offset costs and to actively seek out community organizations to provide fuller care support (like dental, medical, housing, etc).
I can’t wait for you to see the Artemis website!  We’ve spent every waking moment working on it.  It’s truly a labor of love and I can’t wait to share it with you.  As always, thank you so much for reading and for being on this journey with me.

The BEST Thing from the NSale – Thicker Longer Lashes!
One of the best things from the Nordstrom Sale.  Big claims, I know.  Given that there is an absence of touch and places to go, one thing is for certain.  Our eyes are the window to our masks and souls.  Lash growth serums.  The best thing from the NSale.
No falsies required.  Magnetic lashes optional (will talk about that later =).  For the last few months, I’ve been experimenting.  It’s actually a little gift to myself.  And hopefully it’s a gift that keeps on giving.
This is my third time trying lash growth conditioners/serums.  The first was Latisse, and it worked wonders.  Unfortunately, it made my eyes red throughout the day.  The second was Rodan + Fields, and unfortunately it didn’t work for me.  I finished the whole tube and nothing happened.  So naturally, I was skeptical about RevitaLash.  With lash serums I know it takes awhile, so I committed.  And am so glad I did!
From the photos you can see that my lashes got longer, and also thicker.  Which was something I don’t remember experiencing with Latisse (Latisse made my lashes super long, but not necessarily thick).  A thin layer everyday for 3 months and tadaaaa!!!  With mascara, my lashes look even better.  My goal is to get them to touch my eyebrows!  As for mascara, I only use drugstore mascaras – love and wearing Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara above – because it dries quicker.  I find that rich moisturizing mascaras tend to be too heavy for my lashes, thus weighting them down.
Essentials & Must-Haves
REVITALASH
RevitaBrow
BYREDO
Jonathan Adler
H&M
BYREDO
FORNASETTI
L'OBJET
The Verdict
RevitaLash works for me, and I’m crossing my fingers hoping that it will work for you too!  The only thing is the commitment – it takes weeks before you can see any progress and if you stop using it, your lashes will go back to the length they were.  I got a lot of DMs on this issue as well… for me personally, I didn’t experience any color spots on my lash line or anything.  When I was using Latisse, my lash line turned pale.  Which honestly didn’t bother me too much, because I never leave the house without eyeliner.
The Aftercare
I spent so much time growing out my real lashes that it would break my heart every time I wore falsies.  No matter how hard I tried, the eyelash glue would rip out my real lashes.  My natural lashes with mascara – great for Zoom calls and being at the shop, but with outfit and street style photos, I still needed something more.  My good friend Allie said it best – it’s like everyday makeup vs stage makeup.  My falsies are my eye’s stage makeup.  The only way around this was magnetic lashes.  There’s no glue involved, so my real lashes are relatively safe and with magnetic designs these days, they look like real falsies lashes.
NSale This Year – My Selects
RevitaLash Eyelash Conditioner – Sale: $98.00 ($196 Value)
RevitaBrow Eyebrow Conditioner – Sale: $110.00 ($220 Value)
With so many things happening in the world these days, I hope this little chat about eye lashes takes you away from that moment of stress and brings a small amount of joy to your day.  After all, lashes are the push-up bras to the eyes =)  RevitaLash is part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, and in my humble opinion, the best part of the NSale.  I ended up not picking up any fashion pieces this year, but did stock up on lash serums.  I hope you enjoy the before and after photos!  Please stay safe and thank you so much for reading!

New Summer in One-Tone
Same but different, this summer feels familiar while strangely unfamiliar.
This location, the New York Public Library, is still very much jaw-dropping in structure, but is now overgrown with grass and weeds.  It feels like a scene in the movie where you rediscover the place after the end of the world.  It’s a strange yet familiar feeling and sight.  No matter what though, I can’t imagine being anywhere else.
When COVID hit, I clamped down and halted most of my spending.  Redirecting all of our resources to keep Artemis alive, we prioritized and focused only on the essentials.  Fashion was the last thing on my mind, and fashion in general as an industry took one of the biggest hits from COVID, because quite frankly, it’s not essential.  We already saw some brands unraveling before COVID, but this only accelerated after COVID.  With that being said, to keep the brands and establishments afloat, we saw major sales.  Even with the sales, I was very deliberate on my wishlist items.  I wanted to engage with two points in mind – will this bring me joy and will this support a small business.  That exploration led to these pants and these jewelry pieces.
I love tailored pants and have a few of them in my closet.  What I didn’t have were fun leg-lengthening wide pants.  Enter these high-waisted wide leg pants.  They were heavily discounted and I can imagine wearing them to work.  The color is also lovely for summer and fall.  Together with my other tan favorites, I wanted to create a beige monochromatic look for summer.
The pants brought me joy and these rings easily became my favorites.  A Black woman-owned brand, BYCHARI specializes in essential, everyday jewelry.  I was introduced to this brand during Amplifying Black Voices, and am so grateful for it.  It’s very important to me that supporting small BIPOC businesses become a centerpiece of my style journey.  I take this very seriously and carried it through to Artemis as well.  When we were designing the Artemis website, I made sure to include a callout section highlighting BIPOC and Woman-owned businesses (which is unfortunately very small in the CBD world).  Now back to the rings, I bought the signet ring first and came back for more.  I ended up collecting 6 more rings, and now this brand is one that is top of mind when I’m curious or looking for jewelry.

Easy Summer – Chic Denim Skirt and Graphic Tee
The denim love continues with this classic skirt.  One that is timeless, best of budget, and quintessential summer.
High-waisted denim jeans last time Summer Wardrobe Essentials - Lessons from Moving
Continuing the theme of denim this summer, we touched on high-waisted jeans (as seen in this post here) and now to denim skirts.  A classic denim skirt is like a great friend.  Reliable, easygoing, and no matter how long time has passed you can always pick up right where you left off.  It’s one of those closet pieces that we can always count on.  And moreover, it’s a great transition to fall (with an oversized sweater and boots) as well!
An easy summer outfit that can take us from office casual workdays to after work hours.  I swapped out my black pumps for strappy summer sandals for an evening touch.  A comfy relaxed pairing that is quintessential summer.
As you know, I love fashion.  I’m very lucky to call it my job for the last 10 years.  And I’m a strong believer that fashion should be available to everyone.  I always get excited when I see items that are high quality at great prices.  Like this denim skirt or these high-waisted jeans or these strappy summer sandals… all are versatile summer pieces that can be worn over and over again for many seasons.  And the best part, they are affordable and truly best of budget.  It’s one of the many things that I appreciate about Walmart Fashion.  I’m always curious to see what they have next season, especially as we approach fall (my favorite fashion dressing season!).
I hope you enjoy this classic outfit and post.  Thank you so much for reading and special thanks to Walmart for partnering on this post!

A Fresh Take – Neon for Summer
We all need a little brightness this summer.  Neon – a light dash or a statement piece – adds so much cheer and light to any look.
Neon is a theme that resurfaces every year, and for the right reasons.  Neon in small doses brightens neutral outfits, and in large doses becomes fun statement pieces.  One of the fail-proof ways to play with intense colors is to try them with price friendly pieces first.  That way, we can see if neon colors enhance our complexions and pair well with other items in our closet.  A fun starting item is a petite bag.  This Scoop resin chain crossbody bag comes in neon yellow, neon pink, and neon orange.  Neon yellow is a great way to highlight our tan, neon pink contrasts beautifully with bronzed skin, and neon orange accentuates deep skin tones.
One of my favorite ways to wear neon accessories is to pair them with neutral pieces.  This Scoop ruffle dress is simple yet darling.  I really love how the sharpness of the square neckline is juxtaposed with the softness of the ruffles.  And the black and white print motif creates a beautiful canvas to highlight the pops of neon.
Now, to full neon!  Because neon colors are so intense, I appreciate it when it’s combined with delicate details.  In this case, lace.  Like a bouquet of fresh citrus, this Scoop neon lace dress captures the spirit of summer.  It’s crisp, bright, and so happy!  The lace adds depth and texture while complementing the electric neon color.
If you’re shy with neon, I recommend going for something small – like this resin chain bag.  If you’re a neon fan, I need not say more!  From inviting to uniting neon lovers, Walmart Fashion gives us range to try new colors while providing classic summer styles at great prices.  Outside of neon, these lace up sandals (they come in gold and black) are such classic summer styles!  There are so much more from the Scoop collection that I adore.  Like this fun marigold floor-sweeping maxi dress and these chic asymmetric strappy sandals.
I hope you’re well and safe.  Happy summer and thank you so much for reading.  And special thanks to Walmart for partnering on this post!
