The gifts stayed in the boxes, ignored in a corner of my living room behind the couch. Something wasn't right, something about that note made me have shivers.
But I ignored it. I ignored the gifts and kept living in my routine.
The first day without Lando was calm, relaxed. Being alone helped me analyze everything that happened last week, put my feelings on point and even write about them. I needed to clear my mind and see what I needed to do to start something new with him.
I was still scared, not knowing if it would become something like my previous relationships.
What if he cheats? No, right?
What if he thinks I'm not enough? Maybe…
What if he… No, he wouldn't.
Lando showed me how it is to be loved by him. He showed me that he respects my boundaries and that he will never cross the line I could make if I don't feel comfortable. He always waited for an approval before touching me and he even helped me feel better with myself after that incident with my period. It was easy loving him, his actions helped my feelings flow calmly like a river, making me accept those new emotions when I was around him.
We were friends, maybe only acquaintances that barely talked. But since things started to get clear, since the truth was told, we quickly became friends and something close to lovers. The speed of those feelings shocked me, watching how his little and gentle touches made me crave for his warmth, how he messed with my brain and made me do things I was terrified to do after everything I lived.
But it made me realize that I barely know him. I don't know what he likes, what he does besides driving a fast car. I never was that close to him to know that much of him. But he does know me, and I felt so disappointed with myself for not knowing him as much as he does with me.
At night the bed felt empty, even if it never did. I never cared about sleeping alone in a king-sized bed, being in the middle of it. But that night, after sleeping with him next to me practically all night, I missed him.
“God, what did I become…” I sighed looking at the bracelet on my wrist.
I sigh, grabbing my phone, searching his chat and smiling when I saw the pictures he sent me of the filming.
Violet: Can I call you?
I took a deep breath and sigh, grabbing the pillow and hugging it.
Then I heard a notification and smiled when I saw the FaceTime call. I accepted it, chuckling when I saw Lando on a bed too.
“You can't sleep, right?” he chuckled, making me shake my head.
“You’re just a good sleeping company” I smiled.
“Mhm” he chuckled. “Did you discover who sent you the boxes?”
“Oh… I think my parents” I sighed, smiling weakly. “A birthday gift, I guess”
“Well, at least they sent something” he sighed. “What are you going to do on Christmas Eve?”
“Well… I think I'll watch Christmas movies on Netflix during dinner” I sighed. “Maybe I'll even cook something. Why?”
“Oh, just to know” he smiled.
“How is the filming going?” I asked.
“Nice! Is so cool, really” he smiled. “Max was a passenger in the car. It was so funny to watch” he laughed.
I heard him talk, and his voice calmed me. It was like he was here with me, with my head in his chest and his arm around my shoulders.
“Violet?”
“Hm? Oh, sorry” I smile softly. “I'm a little tired”
“How was your day?” he asked softly.
“Fine, I guess… I stayed at home to do some work and clean the apartment” I sighed. “The usual”
“That's nice” he smiled. “Do you want me to stay on the call until you fall asleep?”
“Would you do that?” I smiled, feeling how my heart melted. “Please…”
“Of course” he nodded. “How is your period going? Does it still hurt?”
“No, it's… it's fine” I smiled. “Just took a warm shower, now I feel better”
I heard him humming softly and then talk about something else, helping me drift slowly in a deep sleep.
The next day I had to work, so I left my apartment early after making my lunch. Before walking out of the apartment I looked at the couch, sighing. I have a weird feeling about those gifts, but somehow I didn't want to believe my own instinct.
As I entered the building of the museum, one of my coworkers welcomed me with a warm smile.
“How was the trip in the snow?” she smiled.
“Really good, actually” I smile blushing. “I had a great time there. I went to the city that looks like the one of the book I told you”
“For real?” she gasped. “That's amazing!”
“Right?” I laughed softly, grabbing my phone and showing her the pictures I took.
“Oh? Who's this guy?” she smirked, pointing to the picture. “Harry?”
I felt shivers running down my spine when I heard his name.
“N-no, someone else” I smiled weakly.
“Oh! Spill the tea, come on!” she chuckled, making me sigh and shake my head.
“Just a friend” I said.
Because that's what he is, right? At the moment, we are only friends.
“He's a cute one” she laughed.
I smile and nod, walking away and going to my desk. I know I have work to do, but my mind started to work on something else.
Who sent me the packages? My parents knew I was on a trip, but not in the snow. And Lando said he wasn't… The shivers all over my body made me close my eyes and shake my head, trying to brush away that thought.
Eloise? Harry? But… if it was them, why signing as my parents? Why? If it was an apology they could have signed as themselves.
I tried to focus on my work, on reading those books and translating some papers and writing in my notebook everything I needed to check out. But my mind kept working on something else.
“Violet, someone sent you these flowers!”
I flinched and looked up, frowning. But when I saw orange flowers on it, I relaxed a bit. Maybe Lando sent them.
“You are a lucky girl, hm?” my coworker laughed softly.
“Maybe” I smile softly.
I looked at the flowers and smiled, looking at the orange ones and smelling them. Then I saw the card and smiled while reading it.
‘I came to London today, do you want to hang out after work?’
-LN
I sighed, this time relieved, because I recognized his handwriting, the same handwriting of the cards he used to put inside every book he gifted me.
“Was it your “just a friend”?” she smirked, doing the quote marks with her fingers.
“Yeah, yeah” I laugh softly, grabbing my phone and texting him.
Violet: I have lunch break around one
Lando🧡: then I'll be there a little earlier. I saw that there is a nice restaurant next to the museum
Violet: but I already brought my own food!
Lando🧡: you can save it for dinner ;) I just want to see you, can't wait four days
I smiled blushing, looking at the screen. He told me he was going to be busy and I assumed he couldn't come around, working hard with the filming. But the fact that he's using his free time to be with me just made me happy.
I looked at the clock of my wrist and I wished time passed faster. But knowing that Lando wanted to have lunch with me, made me focus more and finish half of my work at lunchtime.
I closed my laptop and grabbed my coat and scarf, hung my bag on my shoulder and looked at my coworker.
“I’ll come after lunch” I said, smiling.
“I thought you brought your lunch? I saw your lunch box in the fridge” she frowned, making me smile and shake my head.
“I'm going with my friend” I smile, biting my lip.
I got inside the elevator and sigh, grabbing my little makeup pouch and fixing it, taking a deep breath when the door opened. The office where I work is at the other side of the museum, so I just had to walk over the exposition.
“Violet!” I heard him call me.
I gasped surprised when I saw him there, in the middle of the exposition of the ancient Rome and Greek exposition. I chuckle and walk towards him, hugging his neck when he opens his arms for me.
“Hey” he smiled, kissing my cheek.
“Hey” I chuckled looking at him. “Why did you come in? You had to buy a ticket, you could just have waited outside for me”
“Just wanted to surprise you” he smiled, making my heart melt.
“You already sent me those flowers, silly” I smiled. “But thank you, I loved them”
“I'm glad” he smiled. “Well… so you are working in this exposition? It's amazing!”
“Yeah, well… translating old texts and inscriptions” I said. “You want to have a look around?”
“Of course” he smiled.
I smiled when I felt his hand holding mine, hearing with attention everything I explained to him. I read him the original manuscripts as well as explained some of the items around the exposition and the ones of the other rooms.
“You are unique, Violet” he smiled, wrapping his arm around my shoulders and kissing my temple.
I smile looking at him and wrapping my arm around his waist, walking around with him. He talked about how the filming is going, what they are going to film in the afternoon. And I let him talk while we stood in front of sculptures.
“Well, I'm hungry” I chuckled softly.
“Oh yeah” he nodded, laughing and kissing my head. “Let's go”
We walked out of the museum and went to that restaurant he mentioned before, taking a table for two and ignoring the curious gaze from everyone inside, ignoring the fact that we were in public. Right now, everything that matters is right in front of me.

f1gossip the last few days the rumors about Violet and Lando started to come back again. We'll remember you all some things about her to refresh our memory:
-Violet Grace Sinclair
-24 years old
-She studies History of Art in the London College and she already has the Ancient Languages degree
-Works in the British Museum as a translator in the exposition “Ancient Rome and Greece”
The first speculation about Lando and Violet started four years ago, the first time we saw her with his friends in the paddock, but those rumors died when we saw posts of Violet's boyfriend in the race with them.
But the last few days they have been spending time together on the snow trip with their friends and then alone back at home.
What do you think?

When we finished our lunch he walked with me back to the museum, not taking his hand away from mine.
“Lando… you know we are in the street, right?” I smile weakly. “I mean… people are watching”
“So? I don't care” he smiled. “I-I mean, only if you do! If you don't want to be seen with me it's okay. I totally get it”
“No, idiot” I laughed, nudging his side. “It's just… Well, you know that there are gossip pages, right?”
“Yeah”
“And that they shipped us over the years, right?”
“Oh, yeah. Landolet” he nodded proudly. “I won't lie saying that I never read about that. Kinda funny, tho… Their theories are really funny”
“So you knew that there were rumors about us around the Internet and never said anything to me?” I frowned, surprised. “Lando!”
“What? What did you want me to say?” he sighed, wrapping his arms around me. “Hey Violet, did you know that some of my fans think that we are dating and they are looking into your profile to check that you aren't a golddigger?”
“For example” I laugh softly. “But… you know I'm not a golddigger, right? I mean… I have a nice job, enough money…”
“Of course, silly” he chuckled, kissing the tip of my nose.
“And talking about job… I should go back” I sighed.
“Right” he sighed, holding me tighter. “At what time do you finish?”
“I think at six. I have some things to update and then I'll help with other things” I nodded, smiling.
“Then I'll come to pick you up” he smiled, kissing the corner of my mouth, making me smile. “I can't sleep without you”
“God, you are so cheesy!” I laughed.
“And I know you love cheese” he smiled.
I laughed softly and hugged him tighter. He makes me feel like a teen again, giggling and smiling all the time. He makes me happy, and being away from him makes my heart ache. Is this how it feels being in love? I never felt this… neither with my ex's or with Harry.
“Let's have dinner in my apartment, hm?” I smiled, kissing the corner of his mouth. “We can order whatever you want”
“That sounds amazing” he smiled, brushing his lips on mine before kissing me. “I don't want to let you go”
“I have work to do” I whisper against his lips. “And you too”
“They can film things without me” he said, pulling away a little, brushing my hair out of my face. “Today I'm not needed there”
I look at him and bite my lip, cupping his jaw and looking at his lips. I don't care if we are in the street, in front of the door of my work. I don't care if people walk near and see us kissing. I assumed things like this would happen if I want to date him.
“You want to come see what I'm doing at work?” I smiled looking into his eyes. “But maybe you'll distract me and I will take longer…”
“I'll be as quiet as one of those sculptures” he said immediately, making me laugh and peck his lips. “Just give me somewhere to seat and some snacks and I'll be like one of those kids you see with the tablet”
“Alright, alright” I laughed softly, grabbing my pass from my bag and walking towards the staff door.
He walked with me, holding my hand and following me through the corridors of the building. We wasted a little time watching other expositions on our way to the studio, but it was worth it. Watching Lando getting interested in this place and listening to me made my smile grow wider.
“Hey Maya” I smiled at my coworker when I opened the door of the studio.
“Oh!” she smiled. “The guy!”
“The guy?” Lando laughed.
“The guy” I chuckled, nodding. “Maya, this is Lando”
“The just friend, hm?” She smirked, looking at our hands and how he followed me to my work desk.
“At the moment” Lando smirked, making me roll my eyes and laugh.
I grabbed one of the empty chairs and placed it next to mine, making him sit next to me. We took our coats off and placed them on the hanger and then we sat on the chairs.
“Here, put them” I said, giving him some fabric gloves. “I'm going to show you something, okay?”
“Okay” he nodded.
I smiled and after putting my gloves on my hands, I opened the box where the manuscript is being kept. I heard Lando take a deep breath and stop his breathing, like he was scared of contaminating the ancient paper with his breathing. I chuckled softly and unrolled it, putting the paperweight on every edge of it to keep it on the table.
“This is an old manuscript from the ancient Greece” I said looking at him.
“What does it say?” he asked, tracing his gloved fingers over the letters.
“It's a text from Sophocles” I said. “From one of his plays. I'm just translating them and checking that what we have in the archives is right”
“Wow… God, Violet this is amazing” he said breathlessly. “Just… How many languages can you read?”
“Well… Latin and ancient Greek. And I can understand some hieroglyphics” I smiled looking at him.
“Are you saying that you could be one of those people that can talk on a documentary about Egypt, walking around the pyramids and translate the first hieroglyphics they find?” he gasped, making me laugh.
“I mean… first I need the title of historian, but yeah” I nodded.
“I'm going to make some calls, then” he joked, making me chuckle.
“Idiot” I laughed softly, hitting his shoulder. “Do you want to be a worker of the museum for a day?”
“Oh yeah! What do I have to do?”
We spent the rest of the day there, sitting next to each other on my desk while I translated the texts and he wrote them on my laptop. There were some minutes of rest to cuddle a little and even to take some snacks.
But never in my life have I imagined that I could have Lando Norris, the McLaren Formula 1 driver, sitting next to me and helping me work.
“Well, we're done for today” I smile looking at him.
“Thank God” he smiled, stretching and closing my laptop.
“Okay lovebirds, you two did a good job” Maya smiled looking at us. “I received the archives. You can go home”
“Got it” I smiled, standing up and stretching.
Lando got up and we collected our coats and my bags and he immediately grabbed my backpack while giving me my shoulder bag.
“You worked hard all day, I'm sure your back hurts” he said, kissing my temple. “And this backpack is heavy, so let me take it”
I chuckled softly and nodded, walking out of the studio with him and going hand in hand through the corridors of the museum, going to expositions we hadn't seen together yet.
“I just love the fact that I had my personal guide here” he chuckled, wrapping his arm around me again. “And the way you explain things make it easier to understand this art”
“Well, maybe I can be your personal guide everywhere we go” I chuckled. “Maybe next summer we can go somewhere like Italy or Greece, hm?”
“Oh, definitely” he nodded, kissing my head.
We walked around the museum, him taking pictures of me with his camera while I was looking at the paintings or sculptures. We acted like a couple, and somehow I liked that, I liked how relaxed and calm we are next to each other, how good it feels when he wraps his arm around me or I wrap my hands around his arm.
Somehow I knew my phone was going to be full with notifications. Deep inside me I knew that people around us wouldn't be quiet and they would post things about us. But watching how calm he was, ignoring the fact that people took pictures of us, made me stay calm too. I accepted this, I knew that this was going to happen sooner or later.
And having him in my apartment, helping me to set the table after the delivered food came, just made me realize how much I want this. How much I want him.
“Why are you so smiley?” he chuckled curiously, looking at me.
“Oh nothing…” I smiled. “I'm just… happy. I'm happy to have you here with me, to sleep with you again. I'm just happy that you wanted to spend your free time with me, or even skip going back to the filming just to be with me while I was working”
“That's because you are worth it, Violet” he smiled, holding my hand. “You are worth every second, every minute our hour with. And I promise this will be forever. I won't be tired of spending time with you, I'll run back to you every time I can, showing you how much I love you and how much you mean to me”
“That's… No one said something like that to me, Lando” I smiled softly, touched by his words.
“Well, get used to it” he smirked. “Because I won't stop, never in my life. You are stuck with me”
And I gladly accepted it. I gladly accepted to be stuck with him.

Summary: You met Pierre at the Brazilian Grand Prix and for 3 months you couldn't get in touch.
Warnings: fluff, like 2 swear words
Word count: 2.3k
This one was requested by @jugasly and I know it is not exactly what she wanted but I really tried and I hope you liked it!
Avenida Paulista's Boulevard catches the eye especially through the skyscrapers similar to those in the big North American cities. Brazil's most modern city has much to offer tourists around the world. The most beautiful museums in South America can be found here, the shore is furrowed with lots of sunny beaches. And its nightlife has attracted many tourists.
The largest city in South America makes New York look small. The buses make an unbearable noise and black smoke spreads over the upper floors of the skyscrapers which, through the heat that maintains it during the day, turn the city into a real hell.
I felt myself waking up but I was determined to keep my eyes closed for a little longer but in a few seconds I was awakened violently by the sound of car engines. That's what I deserve for booking the hotel next to the Formula 1 circuit.
You reluctantly got out of bed and went to the window. I saw how the Formula 1 cars are brought on the circuit and I look at my watch. Fuck, it was pre-qualification practice, did I really sleep that much? Honestly, I arrived in the room at 5 o'clock and at 6 I fell asleep so I shouldn't have been so surprised that I slept in.
I was in Brazil with my two best friends to watch a Formula 1 race live and we chose Brazil because we needed a good reason to leave Europe and visit South America for a week, right?
I woke up my friends and in less than half an hour we were leaving the hotel, running, with a big cup of coffee in our hand.
We passed quickly through the front gate, all we needed now was to find our seats.
All around us could be heard the cars speeding on the circuit. My skin was goosebumps and I was looking at my friends who had the same smile on their faces that I think I had.
We find our seats and watch the last 15 minutes of training. We held in our hands the tickets that gave us access to the paddock. We were going to go there after the drivers returned to the garages.
My eyes were searching for Aston Martin Hospitality. I knew that if I returned home from this Grand Prix without an autograph from Sebastian Vettel for my father, I could very well stay in Brazil for the rest of my life.
Being so focused on looking for the green building, I didn't realize that someone was coming in front of me only when I hit a hard chest. I heard my girlfriends gasping. Fuck, I just hope I didn't run into Toto Wolff.
I open my eyes slightly and see a driver's suit, white and blue. Alpha Tauri?
I look up at the driver's face. To be damned. Pierre Gasly. With ruffled hair and a red face, Pierre Gasly was in front of me.
"I'm really, really sorry, I didn't look where I was going. Sorry!" I say and take a step back, stepping out of his personal space.
As I walked away from him, I saw that he was not alone but with Pyry.
"It's okay, I wasn't looking where I was going either," he says, running his hand through his hair, trying to fix it.
I smile at them and then I look at my friends giggling at our embarrassing date.
Pyry motions to Pierre to someone behind me and that makes him take his eyes off me.
"Oh, I have to go," he tells me. "Have fun."
I stood still for a few moments, unable to move. I just met my favorite driver and it couldn't be more embarrassed than that.
"The first meeting with your children's future father was very good." my best friend, Lila, tells me.
"Shut up."
The fact that I found Aston Martin Hospitality and managed to get the autograph for my father and I could take a few pictures with Sebastian Vettel erased the embarrassment caused by the disastrous meeting I had with Pierre Gasly.
For a little time.
As soon as we got out of Aston Martin Hospitality Lila pulled us to McLaren Hospitality, hoping to meet Lando Norris and take some pictures with him, about 100, but who's counting, right?
I was with my head on the phone, sending my father some pictures I took with Sebastian Vettel when I came across someone, this time I lost my balance and I was about to fall but two strong arms caught me. Pierre Gasly, again.
"Honestly, we should stop meeting like this, you could get hurt," he says and laughs. "Are you ok?"
"Yes, yes, I'm fine," I say and bite my lip. "I should really start looking where I'm going."
My friends secretly took pictures of us.
"It's the second time we've met in less than 10 minutes, maybe the universe wants to tell us something, don't you think?" he says and holds out his hand. "Pierre."
I hold out my hand and smile wide. "Y/N."
I turn my gaze to Lila and Erica, presenting them to Pierre as well.
"I hope you feel good in the paddock. So far, the world has been nice to you and your friends?"
"Yes, everything has been good so far. We've only been to Aston Martin and they've all been very nice to us. Except for a few people who don't look where they're going, we haven't had any unexpected events." I say and laugh.
Pierre starts laughing too.
"Yes, I will try to look after you from now on and avoid you. I don't want to be the reason you fall. Although, if something happens, I know the medical team and you don't need medical insurance here."
I asked Pierre if he wanted to take some pictures with me and he accepted immediately. At least that's what I can do after I've run into you twice already.
For the next few hours, Lila and Erica, and I walked from one Hospitality to another, looking for drivers. They were all very nice to us and agreed to pose with us.
When it was time to start qualifying, we went to the room provided by McLaren for guests to watch.
I followed Pierre's position in the standings, Lila followed Lando's position and Erica followed Max's position. All three of us breathed a sigh of relief when the three boys passed into Q3.
Lando will leave from the seventh position tomorrow.
Pierre will start from the fourth position.
Max will start from pole position.
The three of us went to the hotel, ready to rest well for the next day.
If the atmosphere for qualifying had seemed charged to me, then the atmosphere before the race could not be described.
Yesterday everyone was behaving nicely and they were smiling. Now everyone was running past everyone, there were many screams and many curses could be heard. And everyone was frowning, not a smile in sight.
We didn't see any drivers, so we headed to McLaren Hospitality to get comfortable for the race. I unwittingly was disappointed. I wanted to see Pierre before the race to wish him good luck.
Although I hadn't wished him good luck, Pierre was lucky. He finished the race in second place, behind Max Verstappen. I was very happy and I wanted to go and congratulate him as soon as possible.
I watched the award from the window, filming and taking pictures which I was sure I would cherish for a long time to come.
"Congratulations!" I scream when I see him and he looks at me. "It was a very good race, congratulations!"
"Thank you!" he says and smiles at me.
I asked my friends to take some pictures with the trophy and champagne and then Pierre left, being shouted by someone from the team.
"Stay here, I'd like to see you one more time before you have to leave."
I could die then and there when I heard his words. Pierre Gasly wanted to see me again.
It's just that it hasn't happened before. We stayed there for another two hours and Pierre could not be found. It was getting late and everyone was starting to leave, so we left.
Monza is the most important economic, industrial and administrative center of the Brianza sub-region, being the third-largest city in Lombardy, with a population of about 120,000 inhabitants. When people think of Monza, the first thing that comes to mind is the famous Formula 1 Grand Prix that is held here every year.
Although many may think that Milan eclipses this smaller city, Monza should not be dismissed, having an absolutely sublime historical architecture, such as the Cathedral and the Leoni Bridge, but also features the huge Parco di Monza and of course the famous Formula 1 Autodromo.
The historic center of Monza stretches over a large area and in this area, you can find most historical sites and a guided tour of the history of cities.
Three months have passed since the Brazilian Grand Prix.
Three months since I first saw Pierre Gasly.
Although I have pictures of the two of us, I can't help but regret the fact that I didn't see him then; I will probably never see him again.
The exams passed and to relax completely my father and I got tickets to the Italian Grand Prix.
What I didn't know was that my father had taken VIP tickets.
That means we're going to the paddock.
Does that mean I can meet Pierre?
I tried not to have too many hopes, in the end, there are thousands of people there, I can't meet him, can I?
I didn't meet him on Friday. It had been the two practice sessions, everyone was as relaxed as possible, my father took pictures with everyone he saw, but Pierre was nowhere to be seen.
On Saturday we were late and did not catch the practice, but we saw the qualifications. Pierre starts from the tenth position. To be honest, I didn't have high expectations for tomorrow's race for Pierre.
And man I was wrong about that.
The whole race I was speechless. I heard my father from lap 23 and to the end cursing the accident that took Charles Leclerc out of the race.
My eyes were only on car number 10. I had the impression that I was blinking only when the camera moved to another car. I forgot to breathe when I saw the overtaking he was doing.
But he won.
Pierre Gasly won in Monza. His first ever Formula One career win and it was my home race.
Before we went out in the paddock looking for Pierre, after the premiere, I wiped away the tears I didn't know I had.
It wasn't hard for me to find him. Where there were a lot of people screaming and chanting, he must have been there too.
And I was right. He is enjoying his first victory with the whole team. Everyone wanted to hug and congratulate him.
As if he noticed my presence among the hundreds of people who were there, Pierre looked at me. I noticed his face light up and he came towards me.
"Y/N!" he says and hugs me.
I'm sure my father was shocked somewhere in the back. I hadn't told him that I had met Pierre, but after this hug, I will definitely have to explain to him what the situation is.
"Congratulations!" I tell him and I smile broadly. "First victory! Wow!"
He shrugs nonchalantly.
"I was lucky."
I laugh and hit him playfully in the shoulder.
"With Hamilton being penalized? You would have overtaken him without that penalty."
He looked into my eyes.
"I haven't found you after the race in Brazil."
The fact that he remembered had taken me by surprise. I was sure he couldn't remember the fact that he had proposed to me to stay on the circuit so that he could see me one more time.
I was sure that the second he left, he forgot what I looked like and forgot my name.
But no. He still knew me. He still knew my name and knew we had to see each other.
"I haven't seen you there before and I left after about two hours, it was getting late."
"I'm sorry, the teamwork had taken longer than I initially anticipated. When I went to look for you, no one was there. Then I realized I didn't even have your phone number. I tried to look for you on Instagram, but do you know how many girls are there with your name?"
I laughed.
"Well, I could give my phone number to the race winner now, if he wants it, of course. Do you think he would accept it?" you ask laughing.
Pierre blushes and bites his lip.
"I'm sure he would accept."
I take out of my bag the notebook and pen I was carrying with me to receive the drivers' autographs and write my phone number. I hand him the sheet just as Pierre is being taken by some engineers to the garage to celebrate the victory.
I laugh and wave at him.
I was at home with my father, watching a boring movie on Netflix. I've been looking at the phone constantly since last night, waiting for a message from Pierre but I haven't received anything.
"Ugh, this movie is so boring," I say and take my phone off the table. "Let me look for a more interesting one."
That's when I receive a message from a number I didn't save. I received a picture.
It was the picture with the prize Pierre received.
"The winner of the race has received your number and is wondering if you are free to dine with him."
I bit my lip, unable to control the smile on my face.
"If the winner of the race wants to go out on a date with me, who am I to say no?"
"8 o'clock?"
"I'll send you the address right away."

*sigh* pretty disappointed in lando right now and it's just putting another straw on the camel's back of 'i don't know if i feel comfortable watching f1 when drivers are like this.' i was wondering what are your feelings around it if you're comfortable sharing publicly?
Ugh right I have loads of asks about this so might as well rip the plaster.
Right, so, firstly: it's not acceptable, it is racist, it is offensive and at absolute best completely stupid.
Do I think Lando would post it if he knew that? Absolutely not. And it's upsetting, given he seems quite up on some things, that he's also still hopelessly naiive about other stuff. But then he did leave school aged 16 and all his friends are varying degrees of failed racing driver so he is not exactly getting a broad amount of input.
Is it worth getting really upset at him about, given that? Not really. He needs someone he actually knows to explain it to him and to not go along with things just cus his friends decide they're cool but like, again, dimwit 21 year old.
If you watch F1 hoping for the drivers to be beacons of progressiveness you will always be disappointed. They are just some guys who drive cars. Sometimes they are really excellent at using their platforms to take on issues and that's brilliant but they aren't very well informed about most stuff - so actively shouldn't weigh in on some things.
Does that excuse them being uselessly ignorant to the point of being racist? No, absolutely not. It's a bare minimum to not do actively horrible things. I am dead certain, in that respect, that Lando didn't mean to, he just wasn't thinking. The second Maxf mentioned 'Mexican night' on stream I was like oh god this is going to be terrible and it was exactly as expected.
Does Lando deserve a bollocking from someone? Yes. Is it justified people are upset? Yes. Does that mean we have to throw the whole F1 away? No.
Lando's shown before he actually does learn so I'm not especially worried about that but also the fact this is even a conversation is extraordinary progress for F1 and the fandom. It does feel gruelling at the moment because dragging motorsport into the 21st century has been a pretty brutal haul but we're actually getting somewhere now.
So my take is: F1 is problematic. It's probably the least problematic it's ever been and my god it's so detached from even the minimum you'd expect it's like looking into another dimension. As that changes there will be jarring moments and it's ok to feel sad and hurt about them because they are thoughtless, hurtful things. But there's reason to be hopeful in the fact this is actually considered worth thinking about now.
It's unfortunate that F1, for a very long time, has belonged to people who don't care about this stuff but it's very good to see that changing. Maybe one day the rest of us won't have to like it despite everything.

Marcus Armstrong - Almost Home I.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In advance: This is getting a Part 2 for sure. I don’t want to leave it here, but at the same time I felt like it would be really long if I left it in one piece. Turns out I have a whole lot of inspiration for Marcus fics right now. 😂 I also wanna let everyone, who’s waiting for their request, know that uni is starting next week for me. It means less free time, but I will make sure to finish every one of them in the next week or so, and then focus on all the series I started. There’s gonna be slower updates to them, but I’ll make sore to have one or two per week at least. Hopefully they won’t try to kill us in the starting weeks and I will finish up the Lando one so I could start posting that every week and just add some parts from the others to the queue 😊
Thank you Anon for requesting this one though, and sorry for the wait. Hope you will enjoy it and as it’s almost the next day here, have a really happy start to your Friday everyone 🧡

With the Australian GP knocking on the door Melbourne filled up with tourists and fans even more than usual. The first time I got to witness it in 2017 was actually scary in a way for someone who didn’t know the city well yet. Getting from one part of the city to another was a hard task already, and all the shouting and crazy fans weren’t of much help when I tried to get some usable info out of them so I could finally get to my destination and get off the streets. It almost held me back from choosing Melbourne’s university, but I had to remind myself that it was just once a year and I shouldn't give up my plans because of it. Melbourne was beautiful and their schools were highly rated, giving me everything for a stable future. Luckily I was never disappointed by my choices as it was easy to get used to the life here and I even found some new friends who helped me every time I felt homesick. It wasn’t the worst usually, as I was truly content with how my life was going, but sometimes it just hit me out of nowhere and in those moments they were always there for me.
It was now the third year when we lived through the race weekend, meaning we finally had a working schedule with which we still followed our usual plans but stayed out of the bigger crowds. Although we were in the middle of the semester we always found time to enjoy the still warm weather and spend most of our free time outside. Usually our choice was the beach for the afternoons as even though it was packed until noon, the tourists never stayed for long. We usually arrived in the late afternoon and stayed well after the sun went down, and the temperature went down a little finally. The water usually stayed comfortable until later in the evening making it bearable for almost a whole 24 hours if you weren’t squeamish. Even if you were after spending a few weeks at the beach, everyone got used to it.
As soon as everyone finished with their lectures we got our things together and took the 5 minutes walk down to the beach. We had a favourite spot which was luckily never taken when we got down there. For a few minutes we just sat down, talking about our weeks. I shared a dorm room with two other girls, but we had a few friends who had their own apartments or lived with their family a bit farther away from our university. We usually had one or two days every week to catch up with them as in between lectures we were either too tired or didn’t have the time to do so. But most of the afternoons were ours fully and we used it the best we could to relax but still use that time to make memories for the few years we’re spending together. We could say it’s gonna stay the same after we graduate but everyone knew we would move to different countries as soon as we weren’t connected to Australia. Even I planned to go home, although I enjoyed living here and getting to be independent without my family behind my back.
“ Are you coming? ” One of the girls asked me, as they were already walking down to the water, while I was still standing around our towels with my phone in my hand. I was in the middle debating which sunset photo I should post from my gallery, but her voice made me look up.
“ Just a second. I’ll catch up. ” I smiled at her before looking back down at my screen. In the end my finger finally tapped the posting button and I pushed it aside while I got the sundress off that was on over my bikini.
Right before I would have ran after the girls, the device was back in my hands so I could check that the picture uploaded without a problem. A smile got on my face when I saw a reaction from one of my family members but as soon as it showed the whole list of the people who looked at my story, it faded away. For the past few months whenever I posted something he was always there in the first few seconds or at least minutes. I couldn’t understand what changed that he showed up in my life again, but I didn't really want to give him space in my thoughts either. It has been almost 4 years since we last talked and could call each other best friends, but I wasn’t about to take the first step and message him after he forgot about me until now. I just dropped my phone back into my bag, closing it and then caught up with my friends so they could make me forget about him again.
We spent quite some time in the water, swimming a few laps back and forth before just standing around and enjoying the last rays of sunshine while we chatted away. My thoughts were already in a different direction thanks to all the different topics that came up between us. Sometimes it was harder to make me forget time and time again, but turns out today I only needed some distraction and everything was set for an enjoyable night. With the sun completely off the sky the temperature dropped quickly and it was getting a bit chilly  for my liking in just a few minutes. When it was truly uncomfortable I gave up and walked back to the shore, sitting down on my own blanket and draping my towel around my shoulders. It immediately brought enough warmth over my body that I stopped shivering and could wait for them until they would get cold too. Until then I just went onto my phone to go through some posts of my friends. Sometimes I looked up to check on them just so they wouldn’t leave me out of something. One of those times I saw a person coming my way and although I didn’t mind too much attention to it, when he continued and there was no one else in my close proximity I felt like he might be coming to me. In the end I was right as he turned right towards me and then stopped just a few steps away from our blankets.
“ Never thought you would exchange our lovely and perfect red stars for ugly white ones. ” He spoke up and I could recognise the voice even though his face was almost unseeable thanks to him standing with his back towards the moon. My jaw dropped immediately and I felt like I grew roots into the ground as I couldn’t move my body. “ If you want me to fuck off, just tell me. It’s okay. I just thought we could maybe talk, and from the pictures I saw that you’re here. Hoped you didn’t go home yet so I could catch you and... ” He started rambling but I was quick to finally push myself up and hug him immediately. I always imagined our reunion with me being angry at him, but somehow I couldn’t get myself to feel that way now that he was standing right in front of me.
“ You idiot. ” I told him not leaving any space for questions and I could feel as he finally relaxed and hugged me back. “ The biggest in the whole world. ” I added with a sigh, closing my eyes as my brain started functioning again and I had an urge to kick his shin at least.
“ I can live with that. ” Marcus let out a laugh and I could feel as my heart jumped a little at the sound. It was something that always reminded me of our home and spending every possible second together. “ I’m sorry for disappearing. ” He let out a sigh, letting go of me only when we realised my wet bathing suit soaked his shirt, although even he didn’t care about it for too long.
“ What are you doing here? I thought F2 wasn't coming here. ” I asked him confused, knowing that we wouldn’t be in this situation if he traveled here for one of the races in the past two years. “ Not like I’m complaining, but I can hardly believe my own eyes and senses. ” I shook my head a little before looking up at him again. He changed, quite a bit since we last met and even though I saw pictures of him it was different in a face-to-face situation.
“ Ferrari invited a few of us so we could gather some experience. The speed I accepted the offer with might have raised some eyebrows. ” Marcus hid his face in his palm, making me chuckle as I could see the situation unfold in front of my eyes like I was there. “ Thought I would DM you and ask if you wanted to meet up maybe. But I realized it would be better offline. ” I had to roll my eyes at his first idea although I knew he wasn’t lying and it for sure went through his brain as a real possibility.
“ You’re lucky you didn’t. I would have blocked you forever I think. My plan was connecting my fist with your face if we ever meet again, right until you showed up here. ” I shook my head with a smile, as I wasn’t proud of what I wanted to do to him. “ I was really angry when you just stopped talking to me. I tried so hard to reach you, but it felt like you didn’t even exist anymore even though they were talking about you almost every week. ” I sighed, sitting back down and leaving enough space for him too.
“ Would have been deserved actually. ” His fingers scratched at the nape of his neck and I could see the tint of purple traveling up his neck. I watched him as he sat down, pulling his legs up and resting his arms onto them. “ I really am sorry. For a part everything got busy with all the training, races and studying, but at the same time I know damn well a message here and there should have been possible. I messed up, everything. ” His eyes shined even in the minimal light of the moon, and I could get myself to look away. Even feeling the burning stares on my back from my friends didn’t get me to turn around.
“ I won’t say that it’s okay, but I accept your apology. How could I not. ” I let out a breath that I realized was still stuck in me since the initial surprise took over my body. “ It feels like we didn’t even skip over like 3 years of each other’s life. Only difference is that you’re finally taller than me, but the baby face’s still there. ” My hand went up to his cheek to pat it gently like my grandma did for him all the time when he came over for lunch. He always hated it but knew that it was a gesture of love from her and a way to show Marcus that she considered him part of our family.
“ Yeah, I guess it’s going to stay forever. ” Marcus huffed, moving his head back a little to avoid my attack, although he failed miserably. “ I almost forgot, congrats for uni. I remember how hard you were studying to get in. Everyone home was ecstatic when I told them about it. ” His hand slapped his forehead, making me laugh with his expression at the slight stinging he caused himself.
“ Thank you, but it’s nothing compared to your second place last year. ” I shrugged a little but as soon as his lips pulled into a slight smirk my eyes rolled on their own. “ Surprise, surprise, I followed your career. Just as much as you followed my life for the past few months. ” I poked him in the ribs with my finger, making him wince for a second before we both started laughing at the little sound he made.
“ Fair. I still hate how Instagram shows who opened your stories. ” He shook his head a little and both of our heads turned towards the water when we realized the background chatting was getting closer and closer to where we were sitting. They were just a few meters away when my eyes landed on their figures and I sensed when Marcus stood up from next to me, making me push myself up too.
I didn’t feel too anxious about him meeting my other friends, although I knew what this meant for my evening at the dorm with them. They would have an immense amount of questions both about him and us, even though I already mentioned him when we were bringing up our past. A few of them even knew about my past feelings about him and how him reappearing on my socials played with my emotions, but they only saw a few photos of him. This was another level and I knew he would be the topic for at least the next week between us, for one reason or another. Depends on how we get on from this point and if we manage to keep in contact when they have to fly away again.
“ Oh, I knew it wasn’t just my imagination. I told you someone was coming here. ” My roommate spoke up as soon as they got close enough to make us out from the darkness. “ You’re Marcus, right? ” She stepped right in front of him, reaching her hand out while introducing herself. I always admired her boldness even in front of strangers.
“ Yes, although I didn’t know so many people knew me from here. ” Marcus let out an uneasy chuckle, looking at me a bit concerned. I just shook my head dismissively, almost telling him that it was just a ‘Girl group’ thing. Relief washed over me though that I didn’t share a lot about him, behind his back.
I watched from the sideline as everyone introduced themselves to him and for a second it felt domestic as all of them shot me a concerned glance towards me. It felt like they would pounce at him if they saw that I was uncomfortable in his presence. While it made me feel loved in a way, I also didn’t want them to really chip on the situation. It was something that better dealt with in private as I felt like we had to talk lots of things through to get back to the friendship we left behind years ago. This wasn’t the setting for a conversation like that.
“ We should probably get home before it gets really late. School won’t wait in the morning. ” I spoke up before any of them could start questioning him. We would never be able to get going then. “ Maybe we can catch up sometime before the race? I’m sure you will have enough to do during the weekend. ” I turned back towards Marcus who looked just as relieved as I did seconds ago.
“ Yeah, that would be better. Maybe lunch, or a coffee in the afternoon? Whenever you’re free of course. ” He nodded a little, still glancing at the girls who were either packing up or staring him down behind me.
“ I’m up for either of those. Surprise me. ” I grinned at him, feeling the pull on my arm when everyone was ready. “ Is your number the same? ” I asked him, already taking a step back, but waiting for his answers.
“ Yes. Never changed. ” Marcus nodded again, a little smile playing on his lips at the idea that we’re going to meet up again probably. At least I hoped so. Why else would he stalk me down and come up to me for a chat?
“ I’m gonna text you in the morning when’s my last lecture. We can meet up after that. ” I told them, before turning around with one last wave and catching up to my group. I could only hope that they would at least let me sleep before the questions start pouring out of them all at once.

DINCEMBER - December 2 - December (Ariana Grande Version)
Din Djarin (The Mandalorian) X Female!Reader
Summary: A little thievery, a little marketplace, a little mysterious allusions to past lives, and a little green baby.
Word Count: 2.3k
Warnings: None that I can think of! (Possibly my writing because this one is... something else)
Author’s Note: Ah okay so I know this is a day or so late, but I still wanted to keep up with @dindjarindiaries Dincember! This prompt was December by Ariana Grande and I can’t lie I’d never heard the song before! It’s really good though (and I definitely added it to my “baking Christmas cookies with matthew gray gubler” playlist). I was inspired by the lines “I’m just tryna keep my baby warm through the wintertime” and “whatever is on your list I’ll do it,” but probably not in the way you’d expect... Anyways! I hope you guys enjoy this one, I have a love hate relationship with how it turned out... Also, I do make some allusions to the readers past, but you can fill those in however you like! Was she an Imperial spy? A Rebel spy? Maybe she flew alongside Luke Skywalker, or learned how to beat Lando at sabacc! Who knows! That’s completely up to you. Anywho, this was a really long author’s note sheesh... Enjoy!
Here’s the previous prompt:
DINCEMBER - November 30 - Snow
And the link to my masterlist: capsironunderoos masterlist
It’s almost cold today, you find yourself thinking as a slight breeze picks up the fabric sitting on your sale table.
You’re carefully folding your newest line of fabrics onto the table before you, making sure they’re arranged in a way that will draw people in, and will get you enough credits to at least try out the new caf they’re selling at the cantina.
You smile at the thought and smooth out a wrinkle in the bright red fabric before turning to look around you.
The marketplace seems almost empty. Normally you have to elbow a few Jawa to get through the crowd and set up your table, but today was unnaturally easy.
It’s almost unsettling how quiet the town is, normally on market days patrons all the way from Mos Eisley find their way to the multi-colored booths. Your booth tends to be pretty popular, as it’s rare to find a seamstress on a dust ball like Tatooine.
It doesn’t hurt that you’re easy on the eyes either, and that you know how to work an unsuspecting husband into buying something new for his wife, or a new mother into buying a cloth sling to carry her crying baby in.
It also doesn’t hurt that there don’t seem to be enough rumors about you.
Some point and whisper as they walk by, saying you once sewed the robes worn by Jedi and Sith alike. Others stare in the cantina as they place bets on which royal you sewed for and if you ever got to live on a core planet.
Of course none of them are true, and most of them were started by you to thrum up good business.
What can you say? The caf at the cantina is really good.
It’s been a few minutes now, well past the opening hour of the market, and the number of booths is still few and far between.
You hum in disappointment, accepting that you won’t be making many, if any sales today. You begin to sit down on the stool you bring along for days like this when you see a scrap of your best-selling silver cloth suspiciously fly off of the table.
It takes a second, but you note that there’s no wind blowing, so there’s no way it was carried off by a sudden strong breeze.
You grab the small stun gun you keep tucked away in your belt, slowly moving around the table, already knowing you’re about to have another run in with a Jawa.
Your footsteps are measured, and if anyone were to pay enough attention, they’d notice that a seamstress wouldn’t know how to move the way you are.
As you creep around the table, you notice that another scrap of fabric, this time green, is swept away as if by an invisible being.
Your steps pick up then, and you round the table just in time to see a small creature waddling away from your booth, fabric dragging the ground as it struggles to carry a stolen bounty almost as large as the creature is.
“Hey! Not so fast, little one!” You call out, and the creature turns to look at you.
He squeaks in alarm and begins… running?
You think it’s possibly running, or trying to at least.
You note how large its clothes are, and how they seem to be tripping it up as it tries to escape.
If it hadn’t been stealing from you, you’d almost have felt bad for it.
Three more lunging steps later and you’ve managed to put your stun gun away and scoop the small being into your arms. It wails in disapproval and struggles against you in a feeble attempt to get away, but your grip is tight enough to keep it tucked into the crook of your arm.
“Now where do you think you’re going with that?” You ask as you grab the fabric from its hands.
As cute as you suddenly realize it is, it’s hard to miss how stubbornly it holds onto the fabric.
You begin to walk back to your booth, scanning the area for anyone who might be searching for it.
It’s calmed down now, and you turn to see it’s big brown eyes staring up at you.
“Oh don’t give me that look. Doesn’t matter how cute you are, you still gotta pay like everyone else.”
The little one coos in response, as if understanding and responding to your statement.
“Uh huh,” you nonchalantly agree to its babbling as you do your best to fold the fabrics back into their places with one hand, your left arm currently supporting the child in it.
“Is there someone you’re supposed to be with right now? A leash you broke off or, um, maybe a cage you got out of? Or are you somebody’s kid?” You question, and it looks up at you, blinking quietly and deciding that now it’ll be quiet.
“Well, I doubt you’re anybody’s kid, ‘cause I’ve never seen anything like you around here. But I also doubt that you’re anybody’s pet, ‘cause I know good and well no one would be able to keep you on a leash, especially not in a cage. You’re too cute for all that. Besides, I think you might be able to escape too easily anyways.”
The child laughs at that, and you find yourself smiling in response.
“Hey I’m still trying to figure out how you managed to pull that fabric off of my table. You’re not exactly the same height.” You wonder aloud, and the child moves to sit up as best it can in your arms.
You apologize to it before sitting it on the table and pulling your stool up.
It doesn’t really matter if it tries to run off, you already know you could catch the poor thing in two steps.
The creature watches you intently, tilting its head as if inspecting you, or searching you for something.
You furrow your eyebrows at its actions, leaning up to get a little bit closer to it.
You notice movement out of the corner of your eye and sit back again, watching as the little one begins to raise one of his hands.
You can feel your heart rate pick up as your mind races to put together what the child is trying to show you, but before the connection can be made a set of quick and heavy footsteps are striding up to your table.
“There you are,” you hear through the crackle of a modulator, which cues you to turn and see a Mandalorian taking long strides to your booth.
Dread instantly fills your chest, and you quickly stand up, glancing down at your stun gun sticking out of your boot and back to the Mandalorian.
Was he talking to you or the kid? Regardless of whichever one he was talking to, you have a feeling you’re both about to be in some trouble.
Last you knew you didn’t have an active bounty on your head, but that had been too many rotations ago to remember. Surely the small child beside you wouldn’t have an active bounty, it hardly knew how to speak, much less commit a serious crime against the New Republic, or the remaining Imps for that matter.
Your wandering thoughts are quickly answered as the Mandalorian scoops the little green being in its arms.
“I told you to stay put kid,” his tone is meant to come off as scolding, but you can hear the worry in his voice.
The child is grinning from ear to ear, obviously happy to see the man before you.
“You know,” you start, and the Mandalorian turns to you as if noticing you for the first time.
“I can sew you something to wear that he can ride in. Can match the color to that fancy beskar and everything.”
At the mention of his armor, you notice the Mandalorian stand a bit straighter.
“No, thank you. I hope that he wasn’t too much of a bother.”
The child laughs at the mention of himself, and you find yourself fighting a grin.
“Well, other than trying to make off with two of my best-selling fabrics,” you shrug and the Mandalorian returns his gaze to the kid, who has gone suspiciously silent.
“Did you give them back?” He chastises the child again, but before it has a chance to answer you step in.
“I got them back. He tried to make a run for it, but he’s not very fast.”
A beat of silence passes between the three of you before you continue.
“I could fix that too. Those clothes are obviously too big for him.”
The Mandalorian sighs, but it comes out as a crackle. How had you managed to finally meet the first customer you’d ever had that was able to resist your persuading?
“I said no thank you earlier, and the same applies now.”
You raise your hands in defense, feigning innocence.
“Alright Mando, alright,” you taunt him and he shifts his weight from one foot to the other.
“I’m just trying to keep that baby warm through the winter time.”
At the reference to him, the kid squirms in the Mandalorians arms, turning to look at you with big eyes, full of want.
“Whatever’s on your list, I’ll do it. I’m the best around. Actually, I’m the only around.”
You decide to try one last time, and even if he doesn’t respond or buy, at least you’ll know what to work on when the next Mandalorian shows up at your table.
He’s quiet for too long, and you turn your attention back to the kid.
“I see why you wanted that silver, little one. It’d match ole tin can man perfectly.”
You taunt him again, and the Mandalorian continues to stand still.
After another beat of silence, you hear the scramble of feet behind him, and you move to glance over his shoulder.
“Peli!” You exclaim, and she smiles as she sees you, but you notice her smile growing even bigger when she sees the kid peeking through the Mandalorians arms to see her.
“Hey kiddo! And… kiddo,” she jokes as she moves to stand beside Mando.
The kid makes grabby-arms towards her and she laughs, accepting him into her arms.
“This that Mando you were telling me about over caf the other week?” You question and she nods.
“As he lives and breathes. At least, I think he’s living and breathing.”
You nod in agreement.
“Come on Mando,” she prompts, gesturing for him to follow her.
“Your ship has some… problems, to say the least, and I need an opinion that isn't a pit droids.”
You wave to the child as Peli retreats back in the direction she came before turning to face the Mandalorian once more.
“Offer still stands,” you start, and his helmet moves ever so slightly to look at you.
“Response is still the same,” he combats, and you laugh.
---
Three days later and Din is ready to get off of this sand pit.
He normally doesn’t mind coming and visiting Peli, having the Crest regularly serviced while taking a few days to visit old friends or to simply sit with the feisty mechanic and his kid.
But he’s got stuff to do now, and Life Day is just around the corner.
He didn’t remember too much of his childhood, but he remembered celebrating Life Day with his parents when they were still alive. Therefore, he wants to give the kid a good Life Day this year, as Din was almost certain he’d never experienced one before.
This meant gathering gifts specifically for the little creature, and that meant trekking across the galaxy before settling onto Nevarro to celebrate Life Day with Cara and Greef.
He watches from afar as the pit droids finish up their final touches, making sure the Crest has a full tank before he’s cleared to go.
“Hey Mando!”
He hears from behind him, and he turns to see Peli marching towards him.
“Looks like you made an impression a few days ago. I’ve never known her to do anything for free, much less as a gift.”
Din immediately knows that Peli is talking about you, and he wishes that he didn’t.
You’ve been all he can think about, and he hates himself for literally just standing there as you tried to talk to him.
Peli pulls him from his thoughts as she extends her hands to him, offering a gift wrapped in dark brown paper.
Din takes it from her and mutters a thank you.
“You’re welcome,” Peli replies dramatically before stomping off to find the kid.
Din can read the basic scrawled on top that reads “For the tin can man and his green kid,” and he feels himself smiling at the scrawl of your handwriting.
He quickly opens the box, not surprised to see a small dark brown robe, almost the color of the fabric he wears, sitting atop a silver pile of fabric.
He pulls the robe out first, noticing how well it has been sewn together, already knowing that the child’s going to never want to wear anything else now.
He then pulls out the silver fabric, noticing that it looks to be something for him.
“Oh yeah new moms put their kids in that at the market! You just strap ‘em right to your chest and they never cry again,” Peli calls from her spot beside the ship where she’s been holding the kid and watching Din.
Din finds his smile growing even more, and he’s almost surprised to see another note in the box, written on what looks like handmade paper.
The basic is even more scrawled in this note, as if you’d decided to put it in at the last minute.
Din pulls it from the box and can't help but to smile from ear to ear as he reads it.
Just trying to keep that baby warm through the wintertime. Anything else on your list I can do, but you’re gonna have to actually pay this time. Happy Life Day.
Here’s the next prompt for Dincember:

2020 My Year In Fic
2020 Fiction Word Count:
86691 / 126531 words. 69% done!
Insights To Not Forget:
Tumblr media
So I had a beautiful plan that I was going to reset and hit the ground running for 2021. See Year Zero is Reset Year.
Covid-19 was officially found in my state March 9, 2020, and life found unforeseen territory.
March 24th, I had to adjust to working at home. June 1st, back to working in the office and commuting daily. November 30th, we're back on a modified work from home/office plan (day at home, next day commuting in). I haven't gotten sick and I haven't passed on covid-19 to anyone else. For 2020, that is the biggest win anyone can have. 1.83 million people (to date) didn't get that win.
Would I have forgotten about my buckle down and reset plans without a global pandemic distracting me? Quite likely, I tend to forget all my plans every year. In fact, the writing business plan that I made to cover the year (I use it below for all the goals of the year), the printed version is on my filing cabinet and covered with so many other notes, I can't read the plan. (Removed the notes). This is for 2019. I never printed out 2020's?
Tumblr media
And you can see by the total words written, I came under what I wanted to write. Let's see what I accomplished this year.
Stories I Posted:
Star Wars: Sororal Lineality: Aftermath: Word count = 3309. The Fic Whining Circle was getting stories ready for May the Fourth. I decided that this story would be perfectly short to get it up and started writing on May 2nd. I didn't get it finished for May the Fourth, but put it up on Revenge of the Fifth. And then it turned out to be the only story I posted in 2020.
Stories I Finished:
Star Wars: Unexpected Consequences: Word count = 126,607 (31,008 written previously + 49,572 written in 2019 + 46,027). The first draft was finished on July 28th, and it took the rest of the year to get my first edits polished to a second draft for my beta to go over. Now I need to go prod her so I can start posting in 2021.
Star Wars: Sororal Lineality: MJ-0002: Word count = 5664 (387 written in 2019 + 5277). I finished this short story as planned after I finished Unexpected Consequences and before I picked up the next novel. I hope to post it after Unexpected Consequences, but I may need to use it for a May the Fourth story.
Stories I Didn't Finish:
Strix: Forget the Sun: Word count = 31,146 (26,588 written previously + 4279 written in 2019 + 279 written in January) I took a very tiny stab at this novel in January and promptly lost it to work on other things.
Star Wars: Looking For Home Future Timeline: Word count = 7598. So at the end of February, I got stuck on giving the Sequel Trilogy Trio better movie(s) and started writing detailed notes on a future story that will probably never been written. I had already put Rey and Poe Dameron in the sketchy future of the Looking For Home so I needed to figure out how to add Finn. I got stuck with the Third Act, and probably need to declare it has to be a trilogy to get the resolutions I want. Maybe I need a Death Star.
Star Wars: Everybody Lives But Maul: Another plot bunny developed during the year. Mara Jade was given to Darth Vader to annoy him so he would eventually murder her, but he bonds with her instead. So Palpatine orchestrates that Lady Vader's path crosses Maul's on Tatooine. Only Luke Skywalker and Biggs Darklighter ruin the planned outcomes, and Mara remains on Tatooine for her safety. I really don't know if it will be a novel or something else yet.
Star Wars: Everybody Lives But Maul: Prologue: Word count = 1385. So far all I have written in this AU is the scene of the adoption of Lady Vader. I don't know where this scene will end up in the finished work.
Star Wars: Rescue the Farmboy: Mission on Mimban: Word count = 22,882 (8093 written in 2019 + 14,789). After writing "MJ-0002," I came back to Mission on Mimban from the beginning. Still working on it.
What I Think About My Stories:
My favorite story this year: Star Wars: Unexpected Consequence. I can't wait to turn this one lose on the readers.
Story most under-appreciated by the universe, in my opinion: Star Wars: Looking For Home: Future Timeline. I really need to spend some more brain time on this one if just to find a conclusion that makes me happy.
Most fun story: Everybody Lives But Maul. I really wasn't expecting to write it accept the idea would not leave the muse alone and then this happened:
KLCtheBookWorm: I really don't know what to do with Vader and Leia... unless he goes into her cell deactivates the IO droid and "Now Princess can we discuss waging war against Palpatine? Because he orchestrated my first family's death, has tried to kill my daughter, and your rebellion has made her flee her safe haven so he will potential see her again. He will not have her or my grandson." Sithspit, why does the muse want to rewrite OT constantly? JediMordsith: lolol Hmmm.... that could be interesting. Or he could go to Bail. "I will give you your daughter back if you help me get mine back." KLCtheBookWorm: YOU GAVE ME MORE PEOPLE TO HELP LIVE! JediMordsith: Bail convinces the rest of the Rebel leaders to work with Vader to take down the Emperor because he knows what a father's love is. KLCtheBookWorm: I always consider Alderaan's destruction a fixed point in time But the conversation between Bail and Mon Mothma. "You wanna do what now?"
Yeah, at that point I will write it.
Stories I wrote that I never thought I'd write: Star Wars: Everybody Lives But Maul. Technically I haven't really started the narrative, but really, Muse, was not expecting yet another rewrite of the OT. This one is the third, after Rescue the Farmboy and Sororal Lineality.
Hardest story to write: Star Wars: Looking For Home Future Timeline. I have never gotten stuck in which I couldn't finish off an outline. And this is so stuck.
Biggest disappointment: Strix: Forget the Sun. I did not even try for NaNo during the pandemic. (Huge props to everyone who did). I'm considering to do NaNo in April instead in 2021 to finish this novel.
Tumblr media
Biggest surprise: I only posted ONE THING! I'm not beating myself up for any of the results of 2020 because it was garbage year, but I honestly didn't plan to leave my readers hanging so hard. On the plus side, they will have at least 30 weeks of new content to read in 2021.
What's your favorite piece of dialogue you wrote this year? From Star Wars: Sororal Lineality: Aftermath.
Luke opened his eyes to Leia’s suspicious face. “She was arguing with Threepio. I went the other way.” “So she couldn’t put you back in the medbunk.” Leia bounced to her feet and helped leverage him out of his seat. “You are going right back to it and staying in it until we reach the Fleet, Commander.” “Aye, aye, Colonel,” Luke replied with less than the banter he normally did. He leaned heavily on Leia, more than he should. Lando finished locking down the controls and followed behind them. “Colonel? Not a General?” “Not a General yet,” Luke responded with a wheezy laugh.
It took a while to figure out what Leia's military actual rank is based of costumes and plot actions in Empire Strikes Back. Major Bren Derlin didn't get a yes from Leia because she loves the two men out in the cold, but because she out ranks him.
What's your favorite piece of description or narration you wrote this year? From Star Wars: Soroal Lineality: MJ-0002.
The last one she dared to open was a recording. Her memory replayed on the screen: a child’s best dress colored green as the recorder tilted down, followed by looking back at the sad adults in the shadows of the shuttle’s lights. She heard the woman’s quavering voice, “Please, don’t take my baby.” Then the gnarled hand extended from the sleeve of the black robe and a tiny hand took it, and the recorder turned to the lit hatch at the top of the ramp. Mara's surroundings registered in waves after that. Her glutes were tingling as she shifted from sitting in a collapsed position on the floor. The floor was cold stone. The recording was playing on a loop above her head. She hadn’t fainted because she wasn’t flat on her back. She climbed up to her feet and shut off the playback. Now the title of the file burned into her retinas, Primary Memory Imprint for Murdering Judges Clone Line.
I can't wait to share this story with readers.
Looking back, did you write more fic than you thought you would, less, or about what you predicted? Oh I came in under what I had aimed for, only writing to 69% of my goal that I set from what I wrote in 2019. But 2020 was a garbage year so I'm not beating myself up over word count results. As I went through the year though, I noticed that August and September were totally spent on just editing and no new words. That means I need to watch the schedule in 2021.
Did you take any writing risks this year? What did you learn from them? I have officially started the write a series of short stories and keep them under 7500 words. I need more practice writing short, which is why I plotted Sororal Lineality this way.
Did you meet last year's goals?

Because Roommate and I think we’re funny...
...here’s another excerpt from our Epic Crossover RP of DOOM!
For those of you who don’t know, this started life...yeesh, three years ago...anyway, it started life as a Star Wars/Marvel crossover (primarily rooted in MCU, but with a fair amount of comics canon drawn in; and using Precipice for the Star Wars side).
It has been going for, as I said, three years, probably a good 250-300k words long at least, and now includes ten fandoms (though one is mostly in the background and the other has yet to actually appear on page but will fairly soon). It is delightfully cracky and wonderfully self-indulgent, involving a boatload of OCs because Why Not.
This bit is from fairly early on. As a note, neither of us had seen Rebels when we wrote it, which means that some backstories are not necessarily consistent to canon. Also, if this scene seems to end rather abruptly, it’s because it’s about to veer off into Major Spoilers for a future Precipice arc.
And so, without further ado, behind the cut is an excerpt which focuses on certain Avengers meeting Hondo Ohnaka. Enjoy!
Tony was actually kind of proud of himself that it had only taken about three hours between "my kids are nowhere to be found" and "rescue party assembled and through the portal." Under ordinary circumstances that would have been quite a bit longer than he liked, but he'd been waylaid into believing Emily used "Coruscant" as a code and it took him a couple of hours to realize she was serious. The remaining hour had been been roughly half and half between recruiting helpers and suiting up, and deciphering Addie's handwriting to figure out the coordinates she'd left. But now they were there, ready to go, him and Steve (of course) and Thor (who adored the girls and had since immediately after he met them, it was weird) and Natasha, silent and deadly. Clint and Bruce had agreed to stay behind, stall Fury and Coulson (and Pepper) and take care of anything that popped up in the meantime. So… here they went… he took a deep breath, and launched himself in full armor through the portal.
They did not land on Coruscant, or in any other city. But they were on what was probably some kind of spaceship--a cluttered, dirty spaceship, with a trio of aliens playing some sort of dice game on a crate.
Or, that's what they were doing, until Tony and the others came through the portal. Then they jumped up and started shooting.
Tony didn't feel entirely comfortable repulsoring the shit out of them, so it was probably a good thing that Steve came through next, and took them all out with a single shield throw. Thor actually looked disappointed, which would have been hilarious if he hadn't been so worried about his kids. He picked a random groaning pirate and hoisted him up, shaking him. Where are my kids?"
"Kids?" the pirate said. "Dunno what the hell you're talking about. We don't got no kids on board." He somehow dragged a holdout blaster from his boot and tried firing it into Tony's abdomen.
Oh, hey, the armor deflected blasters too. Tony sometimes amazed himself with how good he was. "They're adults," he said. "But they're my kids, so tell me where they are or else."
"Dunno what the hell you're talking about," the pirate insisted. "We ain't got no hostages on board at all."
"Well, well, well, what is going on here?" A fourth pirate had joined them, same species, one with dark goggles and a weird sort of monkey-parrot-thing hovering on his shoulder.
Natasha was behind him. On the off-chance (or, okay, fairly good chance) that he hadn't noticed her, Tony wasn't planning on drawing his attention to her. "My kids came here, they didn't come back, so where the hell are they?" he asked, without dropping the pirate he had. Thor was swinging his hammer and looking sufficiently ominous even without Steve glaring at the guy.
"Kids?" The pirate tilted his head and tapped his chin. "No, no children here. I haven't kidnapped anyone's children in almost a year, have I? And let me tell you, Hondo Ohnaka is not a man who lies!"
"Sure," Tony said, then did a double-take. "Wait, the wiseass pirate?"
Hondo laughed uproariously. "I like you! Come, come, put down my men and I will help you find your children. I am in a generous mood today!"
"Are you really," Tony said, more than asked, "or are you just angling for a payday? 'Cause don't get me wrong, I'm happy to pay to get my kids back, but I don't think you accept credit cards."
Behind Hondo, Natasha raised an eyebrow at him.
Hondo waved a hand. "We can work out all those details later. Right now, there are children in danger, and I have just finished a very profitable deal--very profitable indeed!"
Tony hesitantly put the pirate down, and glanced at Steve, who was frowning, but when wasn't he when the kids were in danger. "Technically they're not children," he said. Emily, after all, was an adult. "Well, Addie is."
"Ah, yes, but daughters are always children, are they not?" Hondo said. "Come, come. You say your children came here? How do you know? You're the first stowaways on my ship, unless that crazy horned man got to my men again."
"No, Hondo," the pirate Tony had dropped said, rubbing his neck and glaring not-so-subtly in Tony's direction. "We learned our lesson."
"So! No stowaways, until you came here. Only me, my men, and my new business partner."
Whoever that was. "My kids are geniuses," Tony said. Thor nodded, and boomed out an, "Indeed!" Tony ignored him, and continued, "One of them built a portal generator and left me these coordinates, which means they came here."
Natasha, from behind Hondo, inquired, "Where is here?"
"Deep space," Hondo said. "You are very lucky, I think, that I was here to catch you!"
"No," Tony said, "because I thought of that and I was going to go back and keep them from coming through if there wasn't anything here." Which he totally would have done, if he'd thought of it. And judging from Natasha's expression, she knew it. He didn't dare look at Steve.
"I see, I see." Hondo frowned. "Well, we will just have to try and find which ships passed through here in the--whenever your daughters passed through. We find the right ship, we find your children, everyone goes home happy. I like this plan!"
   "So do I," Tony said.
"Me too," Steve said. "What do you get out of?" He pinned Hondo with his all-American-gung-ho-GI-man glare.
"I don't think I like you as much as your shiny metal friend," Hondo said thoughtfully. He then shook his head, and completely and totally did not answer Steve's question. "Come! I will show you my scanners, we will find your mystery ship!"
"Yeah, you didn't answer my question," Steve said.
"You're going to want to answer his question," Natasha said, sweetly. Since she was pants-wettingly terrifying when she was sweet, Tony wasn't sure how Hondo could hold it together.
His eyes narrowed behind his glasses. "No, no, I didn't." He sighed, then put back on his carefree persona. "Why must you make things so difficult? Very well, fine. What I get out of it all depends on what ship we find, yes? If they're friends of mine, that's one thing, but if they're not my friends, well. That's something different, isn't it?"
Which made absolutely no sense to Tony, but Steve's eyes narrowed. "We won't kill anyone for you," he said, flatly.
"Excuse me," Tony said. "If someone is hurting my kids I absolutely will kill them."
"Well, yeah," Steve said, momentarily distracted, "but, I mean, that's for the girls, not for him. We're not mercenaries."
   "Technically," Tony started.
"Tony," Natasha said, still sweetly. "Shut up." He shut up.
"For me, for them, what does it matter?" Hondo shrugged. "Trust me, my not-friends are very unreasonable people. You won't like them, either."
"Yeah, you don't seem like the kind of person who'd be friends with the Empire," Tony said. "Wait, are they around yet? When is this?"
"Ah, the Empire." Hondo tutted and shook his head. "Bad for business, bad for business. Except when they're good for business--more profit, but sadly more risk. This is no game for an old man like me. It's why I'm branching out--new deals, new partners. Legal businesses! Or, well, mostly legal, anyway."
"Oh," Natasha said, and smiled, sharp and unfairly beautiful. "You two should get along wonderfully, then."
"Hey, fuck you," Tony said, but not very loudly, in case she heard him. "My business has always been legal. Just not, you know, super ethical sometimes."
Steve coughed. It sounded like "Stane." Tony gave him the evil eye and said, "I said my business."
Hondo laughed again. "I knew I liked you, shiny metal man! So, are we going to look at my scanners, or not?"
Tony wondered if he ought to mention that he wasn't actually metal, and decided that wasn't really an illusion he was interested in dispelling. "Sure, let's go."
He could hear Steve roll his eyes, but at least Cap got it. "Thor, you're behind Tony. Natasha and I will have the rear. If anyone tries anything, hammer them."
Thor hefted Mjolnir, and grinned a feral Viking grin at the nearest pirate. "I look forward to any hammering."
Tony choked at that, but managed to keep his voice steady. "Lead on, weird pirate man."
The pirates glared back at Thor, and Hondo turned and led them through the cluttered, narrow hallways of his ship.
They made their way to the bridge without anyone trying anything--Mjolnir seemed to be an effective deterrent.
On the bridge were another couple Weequay pirates, who Hondo nudged out of the way as they headed to a viewscreen, and someone who looked an awful lot like Lando Calrissian.
Tony pointed at him and yelled something incoherent. Again, he heard Steve roll his eyes, but screw Steve anyway, he'd seen Empire Strikes Back on opening night and it was formative, all right. "You!"
Lando blinked, and turned to face the group with one eyebrow raised. "Last I checked, yes. I don't think we've met, though. I'm pretty sure I'd remember the four of you." He flashed a particularly wide grin at Natasha. "Lando Calrissian, at your service."
Natasha smiled back at him, her unnerving, terrifying smile. "Charmed."
"Steve Rogers," Steve said, and offered his hand, because Steve was like that. "These are my teammates, Natasha Romanava, Thor, and Tony Stark. We're here looking for our daughters."
Steve and his "no relationships while in uniform" policy. Ah well.
At first, Lando had seemed only encouraged by Natasha's terrifying smile--then again, he'd been pretty flirty with Leia at her most antagonistic, so that wasn't all that surprising. But that smile slipped when he heard Steve. He shook his hand firmly. "I'm so sorry to hear that. Is there anything I can do to help?"
"They were in this part of space sometime recently," Hondo called. "I'm finding the ship they may have landed on for my new friends here."
"They're smart, they're resourceful, and you shouldn't fuck with either one of them," Tony said, "so I know they're fine, they're just having trouble getting home. So I am here to retrieve them." Or so he was going to continue to tell himself, anyway.
"As far as we can tell,” Steve continued, "they came here about five hours ago."
"Good, good," Hondo said. "That will make it easier to find the ship, yes?"
"Hondo, I've got some time. I'd like to stick around and help, if you don't mind my company a little longer," Lando said.
"Of course, of course," Hondo said. "Anything for my new friends."
Steve narrowed his eyes again, although Tony wasn't sure why since he'd seen Empire Strikes Back too. "And… no offense. Mr. Calrissian, but what's in it for you?"
"I don't like it when people hurt kids," he said quietly.
"Okay," Tony said, "I'm just gonna reiterate that Emily's not a kid. I mean, she's my baby, she'll always be my baby, but she's twenty-five and she can kick you in the face from a standing start."
"I taught her that," Natasha said, rather smugly. "She could also break a man's neck with her thighs. At least theoretically."
"See?" Tony gestured at Natasha. "See? Also, Addie will just fuck you up."
Thor nodded, solemnly. "Indeed, the Miss Starks are intimidating."
"Still," Lando said. "At least one kid is in danger, even if she can hit back. I may be a lot of things, but I'm not a monster. That satisfy you, Rogers?"
Thor straightened up to his considerable height and glared. "Captain Rogers," he said, "is worthy of being addressed by his title."
Tony was ninety, ninety-five percent sure that Thor was just fucking with Lando, but he wasn't completely sure, so he was glad when Steve said, "It's fine. And sure, why not."
"Sorry about that," Lando said, with an apologetic shrug. "I would've used it if I'd known it. Any luck, Hondo?"
"Three ships came by around the right time," the pirate said. "One at about six hours, one at five, and one at four and a half."
Thor settled down into a glare, but… no, the corner of his mouth was twitching a little. Yeah, he was fucking with the guy. Anyway, Tony had other things to worry about.
"What kind of ships?" Tony asked, walking over to the scanners. He didn't know what he was looking at but he could guess. "Who do they belong to?"
"Well, this first one--they are not my friends. Star Destroyer. The...Chimaera, I think."
Tony frowned. He knew that name… right, Zahn. "When is this again?" he asked. "What's blown up most recently?"
"I love that you track timelines through explosions," Steve murmured. Disturbingly, he sounded sincere, but Steve had weird taste in men, obviously.
"There was a big one out near Yavin earlier," Hondo said. "I don't know what it is yet, I'm hoping my friends will tell me. This second one here--ah, false ID. It may take us some time to identify."
"I'll work on that," Lando said. "I can at least figure out who made the fake transponder for you."
The big one near Yavin was probably the Death Star, which meant the Emperor was still around, which meant it probably wasn't Grand Admiral Thrawn or Captain Pellaeon, which meant Tony really hoped his girls weren't on the Star Destroyer. "What kind of ship?" he asked.
"Midsized freighter," Lando answered. "Looks like it's--"
"Aha!" Hondo said, jabbing a finger at the third ship. "I know that ship! That is the Waterfall! They are my friends! Or, well, my friend's brother, who is almost my friend."
Tony snorted. Steve choked. Thor looked vaguely hunted, and even Natasha looked vaguely amused. "Emphasis on almost," he said. "Who's your friend?"
"Why, Kenobi, of course. I should call him, we haven't spoken in months--"
"He's been trying to call you for an hour, Captain," one of the other Weequay said. "Our comms haven't been working too well since--"
"Yes, yes, fine," he said, waving his hand in annoyance.
"Uh," Tony said, because if Kenobi was who he thought he was… "Maybe you better call him back." Because he was like, 95% sure that Kenobi had died on the Death Star earlier.
Judging from Steve's expression he'd just figured that out too. Thor just looked blank— Tony made a mental note to pick Star Wars for the next movie night— and Natasha kept her poker face as per usual.
"He's hailing us again, Captain," the same Weequay said.
"Kenobi has always had the best timing," Hondo said, and wandered over to the comm system. He pushed a few buttons and a grainy, wavery hologram of a bearded man appeared. He could very well have been Obi-Wan, but it was low-quality and hard to tell. "Kenobi, my friend! It has been too long."
"Hond--I need--headed to--" There was some kind of interference or bad connection, but that was definitely Obi-Wan Kenobi's voice.
   "Huh," Tony said, intelligently.
"Huh," Steve agreed, making Tony feel better about himself.
"Kenobi, Kenobi, I can't hear you," Hondo said, gesturing dramatically at his ears. "Call me later." He hung up. "Anyway. If Kenobi and Skywalker picked up your girls, they're fine. I know those two almost as well as I know my men. The adventures we've had! Twenty years and more of them!"
Tony stared at him for a moment before he remembered that the faceplate was down and thus it wasn't having the effect he wanted. "So… you didn't ask him if he had my girls because...."
"I couldn't hear him anyway," Hondo said. "But he said 'need' and 'headed to,' so I think he needs a favor from Hondo, and is coming here. These conversations are much better face to face, yes?"
"No," Tony said, "they're better when I know if my kids are okay," but there wasn't much he could do about it now. Not yet, anyway. "When's he going to get here?"
"Hmmm, well..." Hondo glanced at the pirate manning the comm station.
"Signal didn't come from far," she said. "Looks like he just dropped out of hyperspace. Should be here in a half-hour or so, on the outside. Depending on which ship he borrowed."
"Fine," Tony said, and because he was a scientist and an impatient bastard, started a clock running inside his HUD because why not. "Half an hour."
"In the meantime," Natasha said, "may I suggest contingency plans? How might one take down a Star Destroyer, for example?"
Somehow Tony suspected she wasn't asking out of idle curiosity. It was something to do with the glee on her face.
"I have never tried," Hondo admitted. "Shame, such a shame. But you can ask Kenobi when he gets here! He's done such things."
"Are you taking it out from the outside or from inside?" Lando asked absently, still working on the fake ID for the third ship.
"Either," Natasha said, and moved over to him. "Explain."
Tony would have been intimidated by her looming, but then, Lando hadn't seen what she could do. Yet. He did anticipate Natasha beating up someone, if only because she was bored and hadn't been able to.
"From outside, depends on what kind of firepower you're packing, and whether or not you're alone," Lando said. "From inside..." He looked over at her, and quirked a smile. "I'm guessing you're used to infiltration tactics. So, I'd get the specs and then sneak on board in a stolen uniform--you're too short to pass as a stormtrooper, but if you get a low-level army or navy officer uniform, you could probably bluff your way into the engine room and disable the hyperdrive. You'd probably only get to one vital system before you got caught, and that's where you'd want to start. That or the shields, but there are fewer redundancies on the hyperdrive. You'd still need someone on the outside to finish the job, and probably an extraction team, but you could do it. Corporal or something similar would probably be best for your cover. High enough that no one bothers you, low enough that people don't actually look to you for commands."
Natasha thought about it for a moment. "Clint and I could do it in an hour," she said, after a minute. "Less if we had a lightsaber or repulsors, more if we were working with just his arrows and my knives."
"A whole hour?" Tony asked, not quite joking. "You're slipping."
"It's an unfamiliar ship," Natasha said, serenely.
"Plus, those things are big," Lando said. "And your best infiltration points aren't all that close to the engine room, because the Empire's stupid about some things, but that ain't one of them. And if the rumors about the Super Star Destroyers they're building are true, those'll be even harder."
"God<i>damn</i> I want one of those," Tony said.
"No," Steve said, without looking around. He'd been taking lessons from Pepper, clearly.
"All right," Lando said. "I know the guy who made this ID. He works all over the map, but given they were meeting up with the Waterfall, I'm guessing they're Alliance. Either that, or Skywalker's got an underworld contact that isn't you," he added, nodding to Hondo.
The pirate looked scandalized. "Such a betrayal! I would never think it of him! But, then again, it is good business. On the other hand, Skywalker has never had a good business sense..."
"Skywalker?" Steve asked, frowning. "Wait a minute..."
"No," Tony interrupted, quickly. "I don't care. I don't care yet. Let's find the girls first and then we can care, okay?"
"Okay," Steve said, "but I will care."
"Fine," Tony said, waving a hand. "We can absolutely care then."
Lando shrugged, and turned back to the third ship. "I'll keep working on this, see if I can confirm it's Alliance or not."
"And if it is, we can make a deal with them!" Hondo said. "I like making deals with the Alliance. Nice people. Not much money, though."
"Money I got," Tony said. "Money is not really a problem here."
"Well," Steve said, thoughtfully, but he cut himself off almost immediately. "Hey, what's that?" He gestured at the scopes.
"Looks like an X-wing," Lando said.
"Might be Kenobi," Hondo added. "Is he hailing us again?"
"Trying to, Captain," the pirate monitoring the comms said. "It's all choppy, though."
Did Obi-Wan Kenobi fly an X-wing? Tony honestly couldn't remember because at that point in the movie he'd been yelling about the problems of fires in space until Emily kicked him in the ankle. "What's wrong with the comms?"
"Oh, they keep breaking, ever since that mess last year on Ordo Plutonia," Hondo said, waving a hand.
Gah, it was driving him nuts. Tony got down on his knees and peered under the console for a minute, before he held a hand out and said, "Screwdriver. Did anyone look at this? The wiring's all fucked up and crossways but I can fix it." Something else to think about beside his children, missing… yeah, okay, wiring.
"Better do it," Steve advised Hondo. "He'll just tear it apart otherwise."
Hondo paused for a second. "Well, all right then." He clapped his hands twice. "Come, come, get the shiny metal man a screwdriver!"
One of the pirates complied, dropping one into Tony's outstretched hand.
"Thanks," Tony said absently, already poking around the wiring. Oh, yeah, some of them were just cross-plugged. It looked like… "Did this get thrown around or something? Because it looks like somebody just plugged these back in any which way."
"Uh, more or less?" Hondo said. "Why, did we do it wrong?"
"Way wrong," Tony said. It might have come out really muffled, he wasn't sure. "It's like you screwed up the whole AC/DC circuit except that's not what's going on at all."
He barely heard Steve tell Hondo, "He's like this. Just nod and smile."
"Ah, I'm good at that!" Hondo said, then laughed again.
"X-wing transponder matches Alliance codes," the pirate on comms said. "Odds are good it's Kenobi. Should I let him land, boss?"
"Yes, yes," Hondo said. "Let him come!"
Tony tweaked a couple of wires, swapped another pair, screwed one loose nut back into place and then came out again. "Okay, try it now, should be good." He absently stuck the screwdriver in his gauntlet sleeve.
Hondo pushed a couple of buttons, and a much-clearer hologram appeared. It was definitely Obi-Wan Kenobi--but he looked younger than he should have, if the Death Star just blew, by at least a decade. "Hondo. I'm just coming into your docking bay. Shall we hold off until I can see you face-to-face?"
Interesting, Tony thought, staring at the hologram. Amazing what twenty years of not being on a desert planet would do to a man.
"Yes, yes," Hondo said. "I was just making sure the shiny metal man fixed my comms. I will see you soon!"
   "...Hondo--"
He flipped a switch, cutting the connection.
"Am I going to be shiny metal man forever?" Tony asked. "I ask purely out of curiosity, since I do have a name and you can use it, weird pirate man."
"You are as soon as I tell Clint about it," Natasha said, sounding annoyingly pleased. Tony flipped her off and then hid behind Steve.
"Well, you are a shiny metal man," Hondo said. "And I am a weird pirate man, too!"
"So everyone is pleased!" boomed Thor. Tony jumped, having either forgotten that Thor was there or lost track of him or SOMETHING. "This is excellent! You may call me mighty lightning man."
"Mighty lightning man?" Hondo asked. "Why are you the mighty lightning man, eh?"
Thor grinned, and raised Mjolnir, but then apparently thought better of it before anyone said anything. "Alas, I cannot demonstrate in here."
"He'd fry us all," Tony said. "Well. You all. I'm grounded."
Steve choked at that, and then said, "No you're not."
   Tony flipped him off too.
Hondo looked almost as disappointed as Thor did. "Some other time, then, yes?"
"When we are not surrounded by metal," Thor said, and bowed. "It would be my pleasure, Weird Pirate Man."
   Tony could hear the capitals.
"I look forward to it, Mighty Lightning Man," Hondo said, with an extravagant bow of his own. His monkey-parrot thing chittered and danced a little bit on his shoulder.
"Oh, my God," Tony said, to no one in particular. "Thor's made a friend."

Abaddean, Dreamhunter, Samwitch, peanutbutter and jelly, Hando (Han/lando?), Luke/Dramatic Clothing
So many ships omg. lol
Abaddean is totes evul because….
Abaddon is literally a Knight of Hell and Dean’s just a human so she has more power and therefore power imbalance.
She touches and creeps on Dean without his consent!
Abaddon is in the body of the woman who had a crush on Dean’s grandfather so that’s… creepy and weird.
Also everyone knows if you’re possessing a body and the host has long since departed and someone else is now occupying it, it’s necrophilia.
He killed her??? Canonical murder means the ship is wrong and gross and their relationship is always bad.
Age gap again. Huge evil age gap!
Eeeevul rating: All kinds of nasty ideas/10
Dreamhunter is totes evul because….
Claire is white and Kaia is Native American and therefore Claire has power and privilege over Kaia. (I’m not fucking kidding, I’ve seen variations of this argument for other ships.)
Claire is a horrible evul stalker because she just showed up when Kaia was in the hospital and tried to user her connections to get information about her.
Kaia is implied to have used drugs and that’s not good or cool and won’t be good for their relationship.
Claire has anger issues so she could be a very bad person for Kaia to date.
Eeeevul rating: Squiggly rift in the universe/10
Samwitch is totes evul because….
Rowena tried to kill him and his brother at least a couple times.
Also Sam is supposed to murder her so like… why would you ship a woman with the man who’s supposed to murder her???? Hmmmmm
Age gap.
Rowena’s an incredibly powerful witch so she could turn Sam into a bug and step on him. They can never be equals ever.
She calls him Samuel and that’s the name of his evil grandfather so she’s by extension calling him evil and that’s not okay.
Height difference.
Sam wouldn’t let her leave a room one time by physically restraining her. Also, that’s not taking into account all the times she was a prisoner in the bunker.
Eeeevul rating: Teacup/10
peanutbutter and jelly is totes evul because….
It’s blatant jelly/toast erasure.
Some people?? Are allergic??? To peanuts???
Bread literally holds this relationship together. Do you really want to food items together that need the support of a third? I don’t think so.
Eeeevul rating: Disappointed Kindergartner/10
Hando is totes evul because….
Lando told Han he hated him. In canon. Lando hates Han how dare you ship them!
Lando cheats at saabak. That’s not good boyfriend material.
Han’s a former imperial who became a smuggler. He’s a criminal who makes poor career choices.
Han has no respect for Lando’s cape closet and therefore the rest of Lando’s space. Look at what he did to the Falcon? Han is a slob with no respect for anyone but himself. He’d put all the chores on Lando and that’s unequal division of domestic labor and that’s bad.
Lando betrayed Han! He betrayed him! Betrayal is serious! No amount of turning it around, saving Luke and Leia, then fighting for the good guys can really make up for that, can it? The answer is no.
The three year age gap is barely acceptable.
Eeeevul rating: I hate you. I know/10
Luke/Dramatic Clothing is totes evul because….
Capitalism
It’s literally, canonically, a relationship where Luke *uses* his clothing. That’s abusive and Luke is scum.
Swooshing is inherently evil. Only villains swoosh.
He blatantly stole it from Obi-Wan.
Eeeevul rating: Gucci Boots/10
Send me a ship and I’ll be facetious about why it’s totes evul!

The Last Jedi - A Second Take
I just went and saw TLJ for a second time tonight, and I’m glad I did.
I’ll open with a bit of back story and warn when the spoilers come...
I saw the movie the first time the Saturday after the release - in keeping with tradition with my teen son.  We’ve seen all the new ones the first time together and I truly hope this tradition continues.  I’ve been a fan since my first movie-theater film was Return of the Jedi when I was 5.  My dad took me and we watched all the episodes together whenever they came on TV throughout my childhood.
So, nearly a week after the official release of TLJ, my son is in a super teeny mood so I joke about going to see it again to cheer him up - something about how he’s acting like Emo Ren again...  Dad and little sister agree!  Win!
The first time I saw this film, I did go into it with certain expectations - too many - and few of them were met.  I set myself up for disappointment, I think.  I’m what my son would call an “OG” - Original Generation fan, I was there when they released the Films We Do Not Talk About, so I am SUPER critical of these new films.  I had no trouble liking The Force Awakens or Rogue One - I loved the new characters and the re-introduction to the old (I did read several previously-canon books, so I knew what we had lost when those were removed from the story, as it were).  I understand they can’t be the Leia, Han and Luke we grew up with - they’re freaking 70+ years old! And they hadn’t been these characters in 30+ years... I mean, give them a break!
I didn’t mind the echos back to the original releases... it was nostalgic for me.
So, now to my thoughts of TLJ.
WARNING - SPOILERS AHEAD!  READ AT YOUR OWN RISK!
1. After all the build up and predictions and contemplation of what Luke would do when Rey handed him his lightsaber, I think his reaction is perfect.  No words he would have spoken would have worked there.  We would have picked it apart and some would have given up right then and there.
2. Ben Shapiro mentioned the gravity issue with the bombers.  I was having to suspend my disbelief for the fact that the open bay doors didn’t cause asphyxiation for the pilot down there.  But if the ship is creating gravity WITHOUT the spinning that creates centrifugal force, then perhaps the larger ship creates its own gravitation pull to smaller ships and objects.  I suppose there could be an atmosphere of some kind that the bomber ship could have pressurized to as well....
3. I didn’t buy the force connection with Rey and Kylo at first.  When Snoke revealed he caused it, I could accept it a little easier.  Upon the second viewing, I was digging it.  Their connection does make sense, but what about the connection at the end of the film, after Snoke is supposedly dead?
4. Finn and Rose.  Many think this adventure was a complete waste of time.  I could see that, too - at first.  But I also remember that the first time I watched Star Wars with my younger daughter, I explained to her that in some movies, there are 2 or 3 stories happening at once.  She later pointed out to me that in most Star Wars movies, there are 3 stories happening simultaneously.  She looks for this in all movies now and tells me when she sees it.  This adventure with Finn and Rose is that 3rd story.
5. Finn and Rose.  The romance here was not where I thought we were going to go.  I was sure that Rey and Finn were venturing down a road BUT, consider the following: A) There’s always a romance building somewhere in Star Wars movies (a.k.a. Fairy Tales), B) There was going to be the set up for Poe and Rey to meet and maybe... C) The code breaker is now set up to take Lando’s place
6. Purple Hair’s place.  Why didn’t Laura Dern’s character just tell Poe what she was doing?  Because she doesn’t know Poe and doesn’t have to trust him.  He was just demoted and isn’t in the inner circle.  Granted, she could have saved them all a lot of trouble, but then we wouldn’t have had another hour to watch *sarcasm
7. Echoes.  The echoes to Return really bothered me in this movie, but I get it.  Kylo taking Rey up to Snoke’s throne room was pretty predictable and I wasn’t a fan.  I do love how Kylo took out Snoke and I didn’t thing it was a cheap trick.  I just wish we knew more about Snoke, like most fans.  Showing Rey the rebel fleet in the viewer was predictable as well, I mean really?  But their battle in the throne room after Snoke is dead was AWESOME.  Kylo’s response afterward was the MOST disappointing thing in the film.
8. Kylo’s whiny butt.  Why?  Why couldn’t he have joined Rey?  Seeing it again though, Rey does say ‘Ben, don’t do this’, like she, too can’t believe those words are in the script.  Path of least resistance, DUDE.
9. The two suns.  Shortly after we first meet Luke and he’s dreaming of adventure while still on Tatooine, he watches the two suns set.  When we lose Luke, he sees two suns rising on a planet that is the complete opposite of the desert planet he grew up on.  I thought - if you lived on just one binary solar planet, how often might you see the suns rise OR set together?  It may be a rare occurrence like our own solar eclipses.  But to see one set of suns set together and a whole other set of suns rise together is probably significant.  Or maybe not, but I think the look on Luke’s face at the end tells us he might not have seen this before or did he just not think much of it the other times he saw it?  (I’d like to see if someone has done some kind of calculations of the probability of this happening...)
Okay - that’s all I can pound out on the keyboard tonight, though I know I have more to say. Not that anyone will read this or care, but I feel better!!
Time to snooze.  After all - It’s only 4 days until CHRISTMAS!!

it took a lil bit of time to finally post this with the holidays and all but here it finally is!  keep in mind this may contain spoilers also I don’t really care about Trigger Warnings” but there might be some stuff in here that might “Trigger” some ppl  so consider yourself warned lol Also all the in theater collectables we got can be seen here https://naughtygirl286.tumblr.com/post/190115521730/yes-they-had-tons-of-stuff-at-the-theater-for We did god see Star Wars:Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker I was excited to see this as I am with all Star Wars things I love it and enjoy it and I have enjoyed this "Sequel Trilogy"   and thought that things were well done sure there were a few things that weren't the best but nothing is perfect and you have to take the good with the bad. Now when we went to see this we went to see it the afternoon of Christmas Eve (and then again after Christmas with my family and visiting relatives) Now when we went Xmas Eve it the pretty much the only time we could go before Christmas (cutting it close I know) and there wasn't alot of ppl there for that showing but I was there for Friday opening night being where I work was hosting a "Fan Event" at the theater so I had to go down and the place was packed and it was pretty much a sold out weekend!  Now of course there was a ton of collectables and merch for this and you can read about it and see what I bought in the link above Now as for the movie itself I thought it was great I enjoyed it alot. Some time has passed I don't know how much but I would say maybe a year or so since the events of the last movie maybe more? The Rebels are rebuilding and planing there next attack against the First Order when out of the past the long though dead Emperor Palpatine returns to in act his "Final Order" that will end the rebellion once and for all and the dark side will reign forever that is if now Jedi Master Rey doesn't stop him but Rey's past seems to be catching up with her and could impact her life leading her down a path to the Dark Side. Now I know some might greatly disagree but I actually though it was pretty good, I enjoyed it. I felt it was very fast paced and exciting. I don't feel that there was any slow scenes or anything that dragged on it was like they were going places and doing things and fighting here and discovering about something over there. That is one thing I always like about Star Wars I always felt it was more open and more adventurous and more action then say Star Trek I have always felt Trek was more confined and more stiff and analytical then Star Wars so I did like this one being there was alot of movement and alot to see!   there are plenty of references to the previous movies and some great cameos especially that of Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian which I though was awesome and loved seeing him return for this Now I thought the way they handled Leia's death due to the passing of Carrie Fisher was done extremely well and she received a fitting yet sad send off in the movie I felt it was very respectful As for the return of the Palpatine that didn't bother me at all and I didn't have any problems with it. I mean we did see Darth Maul get cut in half and falls down a shaft at the end of The Phantom Menace only to return and become one of the main villains in the Clone Wars TV show Palpatine even said it himself "The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural."   so that was good enough for me he used the force to keep himself alive that is how I seen it so I didn't need any explanation for his return. but there is one thing that did bother me is his use of "Force Lighting" and how easily it is blocked by a simple Lightsaber?? I mean he is taking down the rebel ships with it but it is no match for a lightsaber blade? also why is he using both hands? he could use one hand to focus on the lightsaber and then use his other hand to zap Ray's legs? she was holding the lightsabers up about neck high leaving her whole stomach and legs exposed he could have zapped her body while she was walking towards him? thats what I would have done Now on to the continuing controversy of everyone's favorite Rebel Kelly Marie Tran's Rose Tico personally I'm pretty much indifferent about the character but she does invoke alot of emotion in alot of ppl I heard ppl say that the movie was racist becasue she was not the main focus. I head ppl complain about how little screen time she had and that she should have been one of the main characters second only to Daisy Ridley's Rey. Others claimed that it has something to do with "misogynistic man-babies" getting their way (the same thing they are saying about the New Ghostbusters) Alot of ppl seem to think the character and Kelly Marie Tran herself was disrespected becasue of this lack of being front and center of this movie. now like I said I'm pretty much indifferent about the character and I have nothing against Kelly Marie Tran she seems like she is a good actress Also I feel like Rose is in the movie quite a bit but at the same time ppl have to realize this is not the Rose Tico movie, its not Rose Tico: A Star Wars Story and its not Star Wars:Episode IX - The Rise of Rose Tico this movie and story is bigger then her and they are not going to wrap it around a supporting character who was just introduced in the previous movie.   now that is just my opinion on it I do like meeting and seeing new characters and not everyone is going to like the same ones  One thing that disappointed me is that the "Sith Troopers" weren't seen alot I thought they would be more prominent in this the why they were advertised. Another thing is we don't get to see alot of "Dark Rey" I would have like to have seen more of her. I do hope she get a Black series figure tho lol As for Ray and her I guess we can say lineage.. one thing I liked about Rey in the The Last Jedi is that it was reviled that she was a "Nobody" her parents were nobody of importance "Kylo Ren: They were filthy junk traders. Sold you off for drinking money. They're dead in a pauper's grave in the Jakku desert. You come from nothing. You're nothing." I liked that I thought it was better then having her be related to one of the other characters everyone wanted her to be   Luke's daughter or Obi-Wan's Grand Daughter or Han Solo's Daughter I felt that if she was one of those things it would ruin her character cause she would no longer be her own character but be just Luke's Daughter. Now unfortunately that didn't hold up in this where she is now linked to one of the previous characters thankfully its not Luke or Han or anything one like that but in fact Rey is the granddaughter of Palpatine. Now for some reason I do feel like I can accept this more and do like it probably becasue it is not one of the ones listed above and it came more as a surprise and it came off as being interesting in the way they did it and presented it and after finding out this some of the things from the previous movies makes more sense now.   and it does kinda make her a bit more intresting at least it does to me I did like a couple of new characters they introduced like Zorii Bliss I liked her look alot I feel she does have a small lil part and would have maybe liked to see a bit more of them I also liked the lil creature Babu Frik I thought they were kinda cute and funny and did get a couple of giggles from them Also we finally get to see the Knights of Ren in action which I was a bit excited about Also Poe lives up to his potential and becomes the person and leader Leia knew he could be I thought the visual effects were amazing which is no surprise being it is Star Wars I do feel that there was some heart felt moments as well as some humorous ones too I did think the lightsaber fighters were really interesting and it was cool kinda watching the conflicting styles where Ray was more aggressive and Kylo had a bit more finesse I did feel that this movie as well as the series did have a bit of finality to it. The "Skywalker Saga" is over. The original characters have passed on/now apart of the Force. The Galaxy is once again at peace. Rey finally finds her place and there is a new person to carry on the Skywalker name. the series ends technically where it all began on the sands of Tatooine In the end I'd say I enjoyed the movie I thought it was pretty good I'd have to say I enjoyed this whole "Sequel Trilogy" I know some will fight you to the death becasue they disagree about this and say how much they hate it and want you to hate it too but I can't say I did and I'm not going to say I hate something when I didn't but that is what I thought of stuff take it or leave it. cause I'm not going to argue about it.

Azerbaijan Grand Prix Review
There was so much pre-race hype, with Leclerc on pole, which I bet so many people forgot about by the end of the race, and the title contenders, wanting to get one up on each other. However, whilst we got some action and overtaking to begin with, things started to calm down, and settle into a rhythm. Baku though, would not let this one be anything but a thriller, as chaos ensued with tyre failures, intense battles, and that lock up!
Red Bull have been fastest all weekend, in all conditions, despite not showing it on Saturday, so it was only right that they won. However, it was not the driver who arguably should have won. Max was driving a mature race, as he made his way to the front using pace and strategy. Then he settled in the lead, setting fastest laps as he went, which may have been the deciding factor in his fate, as the win was cruelly taken away when his tyre failed on him. It looked to be a huge blow to the title for him, and could still be, but we now know it looks much better for him. Who knows if backing off a bit would have helped the tyre? Or if it was debris or another factor, which was out of their control. The good thing, is that Max is safe, and did not seem too down about it, probably helped by other circumstances.
As much as Perez inherited the win, the way he drove today, from his aggression on Lap 1, to his speed on old tyres, he was in some ways deserving of this result. It is clear that qualifying is where he lacks time compared to Verstappen, which many people expected coming into this year, and we all also hoped to see performances like today, which may be what keeps Sergio in that seat for the long term.
Much like the racing action, this weekend has been up and down for Mercedes, from the lows of Friday, highs of Saturday, and then back down to earth with a thud yesterday! Hamilton did not have the pace to win, and was settling for 3rd for most of the race, trying to attack Perez. Then after Max’s crash and the red flag, there was a chance to take control of the title again, and it looked as though, for the first 100m off the restart, the win would be his. Unfortunately for Lewis, Baku was not done with dealing out drama, as he accidentally pressed a button on his steering wheel as he avoided Sergio off the line. This severely affected the brake bias of the car, causing a huge lock up, and lost him 25 points. He will come back from this, but it could be decisive come December.
On a day where Red Bull’s 2nd driver stepped up, it was an utterly disappointing day for Bottas. Even his team where basically telling him to get on with it, and you know that if Lewis were in his shoes, he would have been at least well in the points. Obviously, we do not know all the details, although it is not a good way to try and keep your seat for next year, as he is down in 6th in the championship, which is not helped by days like Sunday.
Much like for Red Bull, it is a mixed day for Aston Martin, who lost Stroll due to another tyre failure, when he was on course for good points. However, for Vettel, it was the kind of day where you show why you are a 4 time champion, he was disappointed to start 11th on Saturday, yet it allowed him to get a podium in the race. His pace and race craft were excellent, and he almost had a chance at the win. Can these last two races be a springboard for the team going forwards?
Gasly did not think he could improve on 4th on the grid, but he was able to, partly due to luck, but also amazing pace, which got him ahead of Leclerc early on, and able to score another podium. As always, he drove well all day, and had a great battle with his friend Leclerc on the last 2 laps. Can this race help to rebuild Tsunoda’s confidence after a tough past few races? It could well do, as whilst he may have crashed in Q3, he did well to get there, and you are able to do those risks then. In the race, he raced hard, however brought the car home and bagged a haul of points for himself. Let’s see what he can do next!
McLaren and Ferrari failed to capitalise on the opportunity they had here. McLaren’s weekend was hurt in qualifying and Lap 1, which left both cars outside the top 10, from there it was hard to score big, although Lando did well to reach 5th. As for Ricciardo, there was promise at points in the weekend from him, but more is needed. Sainz will rue his mistake in Turn 8, as he could have been around where Leclerc was, fighting for the podium. Leclerc himself didn’t do as well as we may have expected, as he dropped back not only from the top teams, but also into the clutches of the midfield. The good news for them, is that they have taken 3rd in the constructors from McLaren. Can they keep it?
Alpine and Alfa Romeo took advantage of the carnage, to bag some points from the race. Alonso especially was once again able to do well at this track, finishing 6th. With Aston Martin and Alpha Tauri scoring big, Alpine need to up their game, to avoiding falling back further in the pecking order! With so many issues for cars, Kimi didn’t do anything really spectacular to reach 10th, just beat his teammate and the backmarkers, showing he still can better his younger teammate! Not much to say about Williams and Haas, Williams tried pitting early to get something from the race, but it didn’t work, and Russell’s gearbox issue curtailed any hope of points for him. Schumacher beat Mazepin, despite a dangerous move by the Russian on the run to the line, and Mick did well, as I saw he could hold on to the back of the Williams and Alfa’s all race.
If these tyre failures do turn out to be Pirelli’s fault, which the initial feedback suggests is not the case, then I obviously hope it is fixed, but we shouldn’t start slating them too much. They are given an impossible task, of making everyone happy, and making every single tyre safe, which they clearly should do, and what happened at the weekend is not acceptable, however, they do deserve credit too for the times we get good racing, is all I am saying.
Finally, the way that the FIA handled the direct aftermath of both crashes is unacceptable. They decided that simply using double waved yellows would be enough. The thing is though, everyone should know that in a race situation, a driver is trying to win, and will want to get any advantage they can get, so leaving it to the driver’s discretion is appalling. Also, it isn’t like the incident could have been cleared with yellow flags, so why wait a minute to bring out an inevitable Safety Car. This proves that there are not enough ex-drivers in Race Control, who know what is really going on, out on the track!
I still cannot believe what we saw yesterday, as another complexion has been added to the title fight, despite neither driver scoring a point! Don’t expect France to be a thriller in 2 weeks’ time, and it is normally a Mercedes track, so if Max can get close, it bodes well for him and Red Bull!

Yet Another AU because I love these things
This idea actually came up in discussion with my Roommates last month, but I decided to do a Distaff variant instead b/c I’m so so sorry it was late. (Is still late...)
[The other AU outlines I’ve done can be found in the tag]
Anyway. We all love time travel fics, right? Here’s one with Luke. Tiny, precious, twelve-year-old* Luke.
Who jumps back to the last year/year and a half of the Clone Wars.
And lands on Ventress.
*Luke is possibly ten instead? Somewhere in that range, anyway. We’ll say twelve for now.
ANYWAY, Luke is off exploring/goofing off, as bored kids do, and he comes across a narrow, winding little canyon he’s never seen before.
“Huh,” he thinks. “Could’ve sworn I knew this part of the desert better than this.”
Naturally, he decides to see where it leads. He finished his chores early today, and there’s still a few hours before dark, so he has time. Adventure!
Except then things get...weird.
He could swear he’s only been walking an hour, but it’s suddenly dark. And, when he turns around to retrace his steps, all he sees is solid rock.
“I’ve got a Bad Feeling(tm) about this...”
There’s no way to go but forward, so he does. Especially when he catches a glimpse of a campfire flickering up ahead.
He knows there’s a good chance whoever built it is Not Friendly--he’s not an idiot--but he is beyond lost, he’s got no supplies...he figures it’s worth taking a chance. At least peeking a little closer. So he heads for the fire to ask for help.
And there, he finds Ventress! Ventress has just finished a job.
This is a few weeks after her and Obi-Wan vs. Maul and Savage.
Why is she camping in the desert? ...reasons.
So, this random kid comes up to her. This--bright, shiny, supernova-in-the-Force kid.
....okay, then.
Ventress really does not have time for this shit.
When he asks for her help, she considers telling him to get lost. See above, re: no time for this shit. Also, she’s really, really uninterested in babysitting a brat who was stupid enough to wander off in the desert like this.
Except the alternatives to keeping him are killing him (which would be...pointless, really; also she’s not super-interested with killing a random kid who’s no threat to her at this point in her timeline, unless she’s being paid for it), or sending him off to a slow death via desert or Sand People (which is just lazy; if you’re gonna kill someone, freaking do it.)
Besides, maybe his parents will pay her if she brings him home. Not a lot--he’s dressed like a small-time farmer--but, hey, every penny counts.
“You can stay here tonight,” she finally says. Might as well keep her options open.
He brightens. “My name’s Luke,” he offers.
“I don’t care,” she grumbles. “Go to sleep.”
Things get...messy...the next morning.
See, that bounty Ventress just collected? Someone else thinks it was his, and resents her poaching.
He and a bunch of his heavily-armed friends track her down, catching up with her and Luke just as they’re breaking camp.
Naturally, a fight ensues.
Ventress is exceptional, but vastly outnumbered.
Luke is tiny and inexperienced, but a) he knows the desert, b) he’s a decent shot, and c) he can hotwire a speeder in under thirty seconds.
Suffice to say, with Luke being a major contributor, they kick some ass and escape unharmed on a bike Luke stole from one of the other bounty hunters.
Ventress grudgingly admits that the brat was kind of useful back there, and he possibly just saved her ass a little bit--or at least spared her some inconvenient and painful injury--so maybe she shouldn’t demand a ransom after all.
She sighs, and instructs him to pull over so she can drive--kid’s good, but she has her dignity to think of--and tells him she’ll take him home, make sure he gets there safe, then take the bike and leave.
Things get weird again when they get to the Lars homestead.
Luke has her stop at the edge of the property. “This isn’t right,” he says, biting his lip. There’s supposed to be another building right there; he and Uncle Owen just finished putting it up last season. And the closest vaporator is an older model; one he vaguely remembers trying to climb as a toddler, before it was replaced.
Also, he’s pretty sure that old man is his step-grandfather, who died before he was even born.
“What about it?” Ventress asks. She can feel the Force swirling around them, around Luke, like ripples spreading out from a stone dropped in a pond.
“This is my uncle’s farm, but it’s wrong.”
And he sort of--sort of--has a clue, because there’s Stories, about people wandering into the desert and coming back to find that years have passed in a night. But things are a different kind of wrong. He’s never heard about anyone going backwards. Besides, that’s all they were--stories. Right?
He takes a deep breath. “What year is it?” he asks, after a long minute.
She quirks an eyebrow and tells him.
“That doesn’t make sense!” He blurts out what year it’s supposed to be.
Which...actually does make a weird amount of sense to her. Because of the way he casts ripples in the Force, if nothing else.
And, honestly, she’s seen weirder crap than time-travelling twelve-year-olds. She led a zombie army, for crying out loud.
Luke is freaking out a little bit, so she punches him to get him to shut up.
She points out that, while ideally he gets back to his own time, he still needs to survive until he figures out what the hell happened, let alone how to reverse it. “Lucky, you have a home where you can wait all that out.”
(A part of her knows that’s a stupid idea--whatever brought him back here, either it’ll work in its own damn time or he’ll need information he sure as hell won’t get on tiny farm in the middle of nowhere on freaking Tatooine.)
“They don’t know me yet,” he says sadly, scuffing the ground a little.
....no, she insists to herself. She does not need a kid tagging along, especially one this bright with power who has no idea how the world works. At least in the here and now.
But he’s quick on his feet, and keeps a level head in a crisis.
And he is a decent shot.
And one hell of a getaway driver.
Besides, she can always ditch him later if he gets too annoying. Changing her mind in the other direction would be a lot harder.
“Fine,” she grumbles. “You can come with me. For now.”
“Okay,” Luke says. Where else would he go, anyway?
And thus begins the highly entertaining saga of Asajj Ventress luring twelve-year-old time-travelling Luke Skywalker into a Life of Crime.
Except, as the weeks and months pass, it becomes less her leading him into a life of crime (...well, it kind of is; he’s really, really good at stealing cars and Being a Distraction), and more her evaluating jobs based on how Sad Luke looks when she does something really unethical.
What, she thinks, what the hell is this. Why do I give a damn what the brat thinks? I did not sign up for a portable conscience! I am leaving him behind at the next port, I swear.
Except somehow she never does. She picks jobs that won’t disappoint Luke, and he uses his share of the profits to get shiny things that would make their ship so cool, Asajj.
Eventually, she gives up and accepts the inevitable. For as long as Luke is stuck in the past, he’s hers.
(She wishes, sometimes, that she could take him back to Dathomir, and introduce him to her sisters.)
(...important detail I forgot to mention before: she doesn’t know his full name. He didn’t give it when introducing himself, and she never bothered to ask.)
They probably have an Encounter with Boba Fett at some point.
Possibly Cad Bane or Hondo.
Maybe even BB!Han and/or Lando because why not.
So many possibilities...
Fast forward a bit. Luke and Ventress are hanging out on Coruscant, when she sees a familiar face with a  bounty attached.
(Anakin’s had some...weird...dreams the past few days. Not bad, not threatening, just...weird. Ever since he got recalled to investigate the Temple bombing. They’ve taken second place to said investigation, since they don’t seem to be urgent or anything, but--he’s maybe a little bit distracted.)
(Luke’s been dreaming, too. He told Asajj about them. She tells him to keep track of them, and tries to guide him through looking for what actual useful information might be in them, but dreams have never really been her strong suit...)
Anyway, Ventress tells Luke to stay in the apartment, and goes to Investigate.
The first bit, with Ahsoka, goes mostly as in canon.
With an added incentive for her pardon--if she’s free and clear, she can get Luke the help he needs, to figure out his dreams and find his way home.
(Honestly, she’s sort of surprised he hasn’t caught any eyes yet, shiny and powerful as he is. Jedi really are blind idiots.)
(And didn’t Dooku’s Master live on Coruscant? ...maybe she should take Luke somewhere safer...)
(After she helps Skywalker’s brat and earns her pardon.)
The part where she gets jumped by Barriss and loses her lightsabers does, too.
Except she called Luke to let him know she was on her way home. And when she doesn’t turn up, he goes looking for her.
And then Anakin tracks her down.
They fight; Ventress does her whole “Ahsoka and I have a lot in common. My master abandoned me, and that’s exactly what you did to her.”
That’s when she senses Luke getting close.
And, suddenly, it clicks.
Talk fast, she tells herself, because there’s no way this conversation ends well if Skywalker sees Luke now, with Tano still in play. (Because if he gets distracted and delays and fails to save his apprentice because of them...)
She gets out what she knows as quickly as possible.
Except Anakin senses him, too. And Ventress suddenly got tense and very to-the-point, with none of her usual banter.
But Ahsoka needs him right now; he has to fix that first.
But whatever’s going on here is Important; he knows that with every fiber of his being.
Besides, if Ventress is brushing him off, if she’s lying to him--
Anakin is thisclose to strangling her again when Luke comes charging in.
“Asajj!”
“I told you to wait for me in the apartment,” she snaps, trying to get between him and Skywalker before things get even more out of hand.
Anakin is VERY CONFUSED right now because what the hell is going on okay that’s definitely the presence I felt approaching but none of that explains why the hell Ventress has a kid with her.
Let alone why this kid feels so familiar.
Luke peers up at Anakin with big, puzzled blue eyes, trying to answer some of the same questions in his own mind.
“Don’t you have an apprentice to save?” Ventress cuts in, putting a hand on Luke’s shoulder and pulling him behind her.
(Luke tries to wriggle past her; settles for peering out from behind her back.)
“Ventress--” Anakin starts.
“Well?” she prompts. “And isn’t that rescue time sensitive?”
He continues to hesitate a breath longer. But she’s right. He knows she’s right.
"Maybe we can help,” Luke pipes up.
That, at least, seems to get through Skywalker’s thick skull. “No, I’ve got this,” he says. Then he glowers at Ventress. “But after I talk to Barriss--”
“I’ll be here, Skywalker,” she says, then, realizing her mistake, claps a hand over Luke’s mouth before he can blurt something out and hold the Jedi here any longer. “Run along now.”
He almost rises to the bait, then glances at Luke and turns and leaves again.
Ventress relaxes once Skywalker’s gone, and lets go of Luke’s mouth.
“He is not a navigator,” Luke says, sounding thoroughly awed.
“.......no,” she says. “Who told you he was?”
“My uncle,” Luke says. “He doesn’t talk about him much. He died before I was born.”
Ventress has a Very Bad Feeling(tm) about the future.
And she does some quick mental math.
Oh karking hell.
She takes Luke back to the apartment, and starts grilling him for details. Which she now realizes she probably should have done a long damn time ago.
Anakin, meanwhile, goes back to the Temple to confront Barriss. He’s still at least partway focused on that kid in the alley, which might affect the outcome of their duel.
She does still get captured, and Ahsoka’s innocence is still proved, though.
And Ahsoka still leaves.
So he’s still reeling, on several levels, when he goes back to look for Ventress and the kid.
He doesn’t have to look too hard; she lets him find them in an alley not too far from where they separated.
“Are you okay?” Luke asks.
“Sure,” he lies.
Luke looks up at Ventress, uncertain.
“Not here,” she says, and leads the way back to her apartment.
“I keep dreaming about you,” Luke blurts, as they walk. “I mean, I think I’m dreaming about you? It’s all sort of vague.”
Anakin thinks back on his own weird dreams the last few days, and nods. He has some kind of connection with this kid, and he can almost--
He stops, in the middle of the street. No...that’s not possible.
“Not here,” Ventress hisses. Luke takes his hand and tugs it.
They get to the apartment, and Luke confirms what Anakin has started to guess.
“I’m Luke Skywalker,” he says. “I’m from the future. And I’m your son.”
For a minute, Anakin just stares at him, because this can’t be real; he and Padme are so careful, and time travel is not a thing.
But he can feel the truth of what Luke is telling him.
Ventress waits until he settles, then follows up with a bombshell of her own.
“You know I’m not your friend. Or your Order’s. But I am Luke’s friend. And based on what he’s told me, about how and where he grew up--raised by people I had never heard of, and believe me, I know who most of your friends are. So we think something awful is about to happen. We don’t know what, exactly, but a lot of people are going to die.” She sighs. “And I suppose we want to help you stop it.”
...and that’s about as far out as I have planned in detail. But Padme, of course, will be brought in on this pretty much right away. Ventress will probably drag Obi-Wan in even if Anakin refuses; he owes her a favor and they parted on reasonably good terms, and he’s good at this sort of thing (“He looks a lot like Ben,” Luke muses, after meeting him; which just raises more questions), and once Luke shares the Emperor’s name...
Shit is going to Go Down.
Bonus:
MEANWHILE, BACK IN THE FUTURE
After Ben realizes Luke is missing, he sends a message to Bail, and then goes to try and find him...
