@kusattainu    ━━   every day at jujutsu high is some new flavor of peculiar. bumming around the outskirts of tokyo, at an arm's length from everyone else at campus gets old real fast. even yoru withdraws, coiling against her right temple from the inside like a dull pressure. a change in routine shouldn't upset her as much as it does. the suits and uniforms descend upon shinjuku with such seriousness that it nearly makes her keel over from anxiety when mr. so and so starts chanting incantations about emerging from the darkness. did no one tell you how all this is supposed to work? they'd asked, obviously incensed. i don't know but [ ... ] i'm fine she'd croaked with such resignation that her first mission ends right then and there. so much for the special grade vessel. as if she had any choice in the matter.
so, in equal degrees of embarrassment and relief, asa seeks out the spot where they'd told her to wait. at a family mart, no less. but crucially not a family mart specifically for sorcerers, like she'd asked with eyes widened in disbelief and promptly elicited a chuckle from the whole group. no, not like that. like she was supposed to know that somehow. these people are impossible, she thinks to herself, and feels yoru stirring in agreement, though still hidden from view. asa can't even blame her for sulking right now. the soft flourescent buzz drowns out most of the noise inside her own head, at least. she approaches the register warily, wondering if it's good manners to pick up something for her seniors while she's here or if her good intentions can stand up to scrutiny at all. people are impossible. every last one of them.
Tumblr media
״   um, uhh — ״ yoru staggers her, suddenly on high alert. hairs standing on end like a cat poised to pounce. asa shakes off the sensation, like an overly animated shudder that causes her breath to catch in her throat again. ״   sorry, my teacher said to come here and wait.. ״ it's turning out to be one of those conversations that just gets progressively worse with every word. yoru would be grinning now if asa could see her. ״   from jujutsu high, i mean. they're busy on a mission and.. uh, maybe i shouldn't be saying that.. ״ asa turns her gaze up from the floor for the first time since stepped inside and her heart sinks further down her recess of her chest. no way a person like that is family mart employee. this is some kind of set up. has to be. ״  they said something about a dog in the store.. have you seen one around? ״

time || keira walsh x reader ||
Tumblr media
eventually, time heals all.
"how are you holding up?" georgia asked as she slid into the seat next to keira. there was a look of concern on georgia's face, one that worried keira to no end. georgia was a good friend, but keira hadn't seen her look like that since their first camp back after keira had broken up with lucy.
"fine, why would i be any different?" keira questioned. georgia clammed up a bit, realizing that she had just shattered keira's little bubble of blissful ignorance. "come on g, you can't just act weird and try to brush it off."
"she who shall not be named has accepted sarina's camp offer," georgia said. keira's eyebrows furrowed as she tried to think of who georgia was talking about. keira didn't get to it fast enough, and so the shock was evident on her face when you came strolling into the hotel.
"there she is! get over here, it's been too long!" millie bright shouted as she raced over towards you. the bigger woman knocked into you, but caught you before you could fall over. almost immediately, rachel was at your other side, echoing millie's sentiments.
you had been beyond nervous to accept sarina's call to come up to camp. there had once been a time whenever you had loved playing for your country, and then world war 3 happened. you remembered how tense things had been because of the fallout from you and keira's friendship. the team had truly been divided, and everybody's playing was affected by it. so, you decided to be the bigger person and seemingly quit the team.
"hey, i need to breathe," you groaned. millie and rachel let go of you, but you could tell that they'd be clingy all camp. they walked you through the lobby, millie expertly blocking keira from your view as she did so. "so, who am i rooming with cap?"
"um…" leah trailed off as she looked at the paper. the only free room was with georgia, and leah had no idea how georgia felt about you anymore. she just knew that she couldn't room you with keira. "stanway."
"oh, okay," you said as you took the room key from her. "thanks."
"you're welcome." leah tried to hide her surprise at how okay you were with the room situation. if there had been one person who had been nastier to you than keira, it was georgia. stanway was incredibly protective over keira, and even though she didn't have all the facts, she knew that keira was hurting because of you.
"seriously, you roomed her with g?" rachel hissed as she glared at leah.
"are you mad woman?" millie asked. the three of them watched as you got into the elevator and went up to your room. you knew not to expect georgia there for some time, she had always hung around leah and keira's room more than her own. you expected this camp not to be any different, especially once she found out that you were her roommate.
"you're a real fucking sorry sight, you know that?" lucy teased as she sat next to you in the gym. everybody else had paired up with their roommates, but you were all alone. georgia had stuck to keira and leah's sides, and you weren't going anywhere near keira.
"i'm sure that if i asked stanway to spot me, she'd drop the weight on my neck," you reasoned. lucy frowned at the comment. she had always liked you, having been the first to take you under her wing in the few england camps you had attended.
"she probably couldn't hold it. i mean, look at the size of you, giving bright a run for her money." you blushed at the compliment. you had been working out a lot more, but it had also been several years since most of these women had seen you last. that was a lot of time for you to change and better yourself, but not enough to get over that lovesick feeling you got whenever you looked at keira.
you didn't think that you'd ever get over that. she had been your best friend, and then something a little more before everything went to hell. a part of you wanted to be mad at lucy, who had struck up a conversation and friendship with you to steal away the woman you loved. you could still remember the way it felt to walk into your hotel room seeking out comfort from keira only to find her pinned beneath lucy's body.
"you okay?" lucy asked as she noticed you go a bit pale. she reached out towards you, but you were quick to push her away from you.
"get away from me!" you were overcome with emotion. you hated the way that everything seemed to get dragged up and out of you with ease. everybody was staring at you, so you ran. lucy could feel the eyes on her, but one look from rachel and millie told her to stay put.
"i swear that i didn't say anything," lucy said as the two approached her. "i told her that she looked good, she got quiet, and when i went to check on her, she did that."
"she's just a drama queen," georgia said quietly. leah slapped her chest, but it was millie running up to her that really got georgia's attention.
"you don't even know what happened because if you did, you wouldn't be acting like this towards her. she was one of your best friends, or did you forget that?"
"stop it, all of you!" keira shouted. nobody had expected the outburst from her. "all of you stay here. i'll handle this."
"i do-," rachel tried, only to be cut off by keira. she stormed out of the gym, surprised to find you sitting only a few feet away on a little ledge.
"can i sit next to you?" keira asked. you scooted over to the far edge of the bench to make room for her. "i've missed you a lot."
"you've been fine. lucy's always around in barcelona, isn't she?"
"we're… friends now, nothing more, nothing less. lucy's girlfriend, ona, she's really nice. i think you'd like her. there's always room for another good defender on the team if you're interested in a change of scenery," keira suggested.
"move to another country where i can't speak the language and i'm stuck with you and lucy, sounds like hell," you said honestly.
"i don't know what you want from me. i can't say sorry anymore," keira told you. there wasn't anything for her to do, you just couldn't be around her. "i didn't mean to hurt you like that, things just sort of happened that night."
"it was an accident, well that fixes everything!" you exclaimed sarcastically.
"if you're going to be an ass, i won't even bother," keira said. she hadn't meant to get so frustrated with you, but it obviously wasn't the right choice. you shot up from the bench and stormed off, leaving keira to go back inside and let them know you had really left this time.
"rach, i am not spending my last season wearing those ugly ass kits," you teased.
"but can you at least spend your last season in your home country?" rachel asked you. you sighed and nodded. "okay, what are your other options then?"
"the spurs are offering a lot. city is willing to talk, but they can't guarantee that they'll need me that badly," you said. rachel's face lit up at the thought of you retiring at manchester city. it had been your first club, and you had always talked about retiring there.
"you have to go back to city," rachel said. you had expected her to fight you a little more, but you were glad that she wanted this for you. rachel spent a bit more time with you before leaving to let you call your agent, who was glad that you had made your choice.
things were finalized quickly, and by the end of the month, manchester city had made the announcement. you had expected them to make a big deal about your homecoming, but not for them to mention that it was your last season. you were young, still in your prime, but playing soccer had felt more and more like a chore. things weren't the same after your conversation with keira.
the messages came flooding in at the announcement of your retirement. leah was the first of your old friend group to reach out to you, definitely hurt that you didn't tell her before, but still understanding. she was closest, so it was easiest to make amends with her first. she had even come to a couple of your games that weren't on the same days as hers.
georgia and lucy had both flown in to see you at the same game. it had been overwhelming at first, but when georgia threw herself at your feet apologizing and crying, you had to forgive her. lucy didn't grovel as dramatically, but she had been much more of a sap than you had ever seen. slowly, over the course of the season, you began to repair the relationships that had gone to shit, all except for one of them.
tears had been clouding your vision all day. you wanted to go back on your retirement, but there were big things awaiting you. you'd finish this game, take a couple of days to mope around, and then you'd start your journey towards coaching. it was exciting, even if you had no idea where you'd go after that.
"it's insane," rachel said as she put her arm around your shoulders. the two of you were standing out on the pitch together looking out at the crowd. "i've never seen so many people wearing your number before."
"i've never seen so many people in my section," you countered. the stadium was completely packed, every single seat full. rachel smiled as she pressed a kiss to your cheek. you wanted to start crying, but you held it together.
"i hate losing, but i want you to walk away with a win tonight," rachel told you. you nodded, also wanting that for yourself. the two of you went your separate ways for warm ups. you got the captain's band for the game, something that hadn't really happened before. it had always been your dream to captain manchester city, and your teammates wanted that to happen for you.
the game itself was a lot, but you loved the pacing of it. you got in quite a few good blocks and tackles. if anything, you proved just how much you had left in you in the first half. the game remained a draw, both teams coming so close to scoring only to be stopped. it was late whenever the first goal was scored, a goal coming from a ball that you had cleared away to chloe. she ran it all the way to the goal, getting both a goal for herself and an assist for you.
you were almost certain that was going to be the only goal of the game, but you were happily proven wrong. you had found a nice little position during a corner, and the ball was driven directly to you. it was cheeky, but you went in for a pele kick. you hit the ground with a heavy thud, only for your teammates to come over and dog pile on top of you. you had all reset for another kick off when the final whistle blew.
"come here," alex said as you collapsed onto the pitch next to her. players from both teams came over to congratulate you on your final game. you kept it together for a fair amount of time until you saw some of your england teammates approach. millie scooped you into a hug, crushing your body just a little as she did so.
"you don't have to, but there's someone who wants to talk to you in the tunnel," millie told you. you steadied yourself with a deep breath and walked into the tunnel, unsurprised to find keira standing there nervously.
"i didn't know you came," you said as you stood next to keira.
"of course i came to see your last game. i told you i would when you signed." you didn't expect keira to remember the promise she had made at the beginning of your career. "what are you going to do now?"
"look into coaching. after that, i have no idea, but i promised rachel i'd stay with her during the offseasn," you said. keira's face fell at that, like she had been afraid of hearing that. "you're gonna be pretty busy with the champion's league."
"i'm really happy for you and rachel," keira said. you paused for a moment. it was very obvious that keira was just saying that. her tone was clipped and she still looked hurt. "i should have seen it coming though, really. i mean, you guys did play together in america."
"yeah, we did, but that doesn't mean anything. she was dating kristie then, besides, rach is not my type. she fancies herself a bit too much of a top for me. i like things a little more equal," you joked. keira blushed, forcing herself to look away from you. "so, are you meeting someone here or did you dress up just for me?"
"so, you and rachel aren't…" keira trailed off. you shook your head, laughing a bit as you did. "then, can i take you to dinner?"
"keira, we tried this already. i got my heart broken, remember?" you sighed.
"no, we didn't try this, not really. there were never any dates or effort for something more than makeout sessions in the hotel. this time, i want dates and effort. please, (y/n), i want to do this right. i want us to be together," keira said. you bit your lip as you contemplated it.
"it can't end in another lucy situation," you told her.
keira looked at you dead serious and promised, "no lucy situation. i'll fly up here to visit you on every break, and when i can't, i'll fly you to barcelona to come and see me. i'll call you every single day because the hardest part of all of us has been not hearing your voice. i just want you, (y/n), if you'll let me."
"i am so fucking scared right now, but that's what makes it exciting right?" you chuckled. keira nodded as she cupped your cheeks. you knew that you had to be one to make the next move, so you leaned in and captured her lips in a soft kiss. you pinned keira against the wall, pushing your body against hers as the kiss deepened.
"as nice as this is, you're very sweaty," keira pointed out. you gave her one more peck on the lips before you left to take a shower. you were quick to change and get out of the locker room, knowing damn well that someone was bound to drag you back in there whenever you came to check in on your favorite team.
"you waited up for me, that's sweet," you said as you grabbed keira's hand. keira turned and pressed a kiss to your cheek, which didn't go unnoticed by the teammates she was talking to.
"come on, let's get you in something nice. i believe i heard alex and chloe mention a dinner in your honor," keira said. you grumbled and huffed as you left with her. you knew that they meant well, but they all knew how much you hated fancy dinners and being the center of attention. however, when you arrived at the restaurant in the suit that keira insisted that you wear, you felt a little ridiculous.
"you're an ass," you said as you nudged keira in the side.
"it's was rachel's idea," keira told you. you rolled your eyes as you entered the fast food restaurant. "i think you look hot, if it helps."
"maybe a little." you knew that you were being cheeky, but you also remembered that keira had secretly loved it.

tears of themis ⇢ WOULD YOU KISS ME FOR $10 OR THE PRETTIEST GIRL IN THE WORLD FOR $700?
ft. luke pearce, artem wing, marius von hagen & vyn richter
Tumblr media
“i have a question,” you tell LUKE. he’s sat on the couch, playing some new video game which he immediately pauses to acknowledge you. “okay, shoot.” “would you kiss the prettiest girl in the world for 700 dollars or me for only 10 dollars?” before luke can school his features, a smile tugs at the corners of his lips as memories from your childhood flash in his mind. ever since you were kids, you’ve always had the most random trivia and inquiries ready to share with him—his heart swells at the thought of you not having changed at all. going back to your question, luke normally would’ve been deep in thought searching for an answer but he’s always had it in him. so with loving eyes, he meets your expectant ones. “you know i’d kiss you for free.”
Tumblr media
ARTEM looks up from his paperwork, paying you his undivided attention now. “come again?” you’re halfway through repeating the question when he cuts you off with a chuckle, “i heard you the first time.” you know he’s just too nice to dismiss you but if you spend another minute thinking about your case, you’re going to lose your mind. “so, what’s your answer?” “i’d kiss you,” he replies without skipping a beat and his lips curl into a smile. you mirror his expression before glancing at the door then back at your boyfriend. “can you kiss me now?” you pout, “i need motivation.” artem shakes his head at your antics but he adores them. he gets up from his seat en route to your side of the office, leaning in to grant your request when celestine barges into the room, “artem- oh.” artem immediately straightens up and clears his throat as he takes a step back from your desk, “yes?” whatever celestine’s come to see him for is soon forgotten, clearly enjoying the sight she walked into. the whole firm knows about your relationship with artem so you remain unfazed—unlike stellis’ notable lawyer whose cheeks are blushing furiously, unable to meet your colleague in the eye.
Tumblr media
“missed your pretty face,” MARIUS says in greeting the moment you open the door. half an hour ago, he called to let you know he was on his way to your apartment. now here he is, leaning in for a kiss which is immediately followed by a sigh of pleasure at the feeling of your mouth on his. “you say that as if i’m not your lockscreen,” you tease when you pull away. “i can’t kiss my phone though.” he winks then dips his head lower for another peck but you stop him with a finger over his lips. marius’ eye brows shoot up in surprise, coaxing a giggle out of you. with a cheeky smile, you ask, “would you kiss me for 10 dollars or the prettiest girl in the world for 700 dollars?” “what kinda question is that?” he scoffs and rolls his eyes at its absurdity before his familiar cockiness once again takes over his features. “miss, i’d pay to kiss you.”
Tumblr media
“is something on your mind?” VYN’s voice snaps you out of your thoughts—well, thought. you’ve had this random question plaguing your brain for a while now. “what is it?” vyn asks again. “well…” you begin, trying to form the words before you utter them, “i was curious…” “go on.” “would you kiss me for 10 dollars or the prettiest girl in the world for 700 dollars?” vyn doesn’t respond right away, blinking at you as he is momentarily dumbfounded. but it’s not long before you sense the gears in his mind turning. you’re not sure if it’s due to the nature of his job as a psychiatrist but vyn is never not thinking—you truly believe he’s actually taking the question seriously. soon enough, he gives you his answer. “my rose,” he says as he tenderly takes your hand in his, “your kisses are priceless.”

Lil speech guide: Randy's speech Jamie's speech (Pokespeak will be in parentheses.)
It got pretty long, so under the Bar it goes!
PREVIOUS NEXT
~~~~~~
Jamie, the Gardevoir, and the three Lindens stood locked in tense silence. Randy fought to string together an explanation that wouldn't give away too much, while also trying to gauge Akoya's stance.
Jamie was the first to break the silence. Her expression hardened, her eyes displaying a sharp fury. Well? I'm not letting you a step further until I know it's not a threat.
The pointed stick in her hand lowered to point toward the family, and her authoritative tone chilled Randy. She meant business, which didn't help ease the man's racing mind.
Akoya answered before Randy could, her voice a bit too defensive in his opinion. It's none of your business what's in our bag. It's stuff for travel! What's wrong with that?!
Jamie clearly didn't believe her for a second. Her icy eyes bore into the white haired visitor. I won't tolerate a threat at my home. Tell me what's in there, or you WILL leave. Her eyes flashed ominously. Or worse.
Feeling a wave of protectiveness, Randy shuffled to stand in front of Akoya and Lavender. He hoped they couldn't feel the surge of utter dread that coursed through his body.
Listen, Jamie. He tried to keep his voice low, level, and non-threatening. What's in that bag is very precious to us, and we can't show you out here where others might see it. If we can go somewhere private, then maybe we can work something out.
He felt the sharp jab of Akoya's disapproval from behind him. Between her and the protesting red-head in front of them, he felt his resolve being wringed out of him.
Jamie stood still, her glare unwavering. After a moment, her head lifted slightly as she addressed their Pokemon company in an strong bark. (Darren, Sheila, Percy, please hide us with your wings.)
Percy and Darren gave startled, bewildered looks, while Sheila tilted her head and chuffed questioningly. But they did as she asked, reaching out to their widest wingspans, touching tip-to-tip with each other.
The Lindens hesitantly shuffled to adjust their positions as their space shrank.
There. Jamie eyed them all closely You wanted somewhere private; this is it. If you still won't show me, you'll have to leave.
Randy and Akoya glanced nervously at each other.
What could be done?
They came to a silent agreement.
Akoya turned back to Jamie, giving her a glare that verged on desperation. We're showing you because you forced our hand. NOT because we trust you. If you try anything...
To Randy's surprise, he caught a falter in Jamie's resolve, and something changed. A new expression slipped into her demeanor, if only barely.
Curiosity.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The look on Jamie's face turned from shock to determination.
Swiftly she addressed her three winged Pokemon. (Spread the word; we need to find a little pink Mew with blue accents. It is to be brought back to these three safely and secretly.)
The three beasts nodded in sincerity and took off.
Persim poked his head of of the bag, his face etched in horror, while Momo was shrieking. Stay in there for now, Perzi. Randy's voice was shaky, but reassuring. We'll handle it. Could you please try to calm Momo down?
The orange feline nodded uncertainly and ducked back into the bag. Randy saw a green bubble form in it as he zipped it shut. Momo's screams went quiet, but he knew it was just contained by the bubble. Poor Persim...
The red-headed girl looked solemnly at the devastated family, her expression softer than any of them had seen from her yet. I'm truly sorry about that... I promise you all, this is the best place for a Pokemon like them to be lost at. There will be lots of good Pokemon looking for them, and any humans will be curious at worst. It might scare them, but nobody will hurt them.
I would've done things differently if I'd known they were in there...
Akoya gave up looking nearby for her son and took a breath. She turned to Jamie, for once without venom. Listen, Jamie, with all due respect, we'll be able to find him easier than your little... network, or whatever you have here. He's gotta be terrified! He might just keep teleporting away if strangers find him, human or Pokemon...
Jamie folded her arms with a hesitant nod. You're free to search too, if you think so. Maybe you're right, and he'll only show for you guys. But if anyone spots him, I'll hear of it, so I'd best stick with you.
Akoya gave an uncertain look and opened her mouth to speak. But, feeling her about to protest, Randy interrupted her. We can talk later. Let's go find Midas.
Butterflies can’t see the colour of their wings series:
Part 1 Part 2 ( you are here) part 3
A/n: this ain’t probably the part 2 that you were looking for but I tried brainstorming a few ideas and this is all I could come up with.
Tag list: @xoxobabe @spiderpunksbaee @farleyis @ray202 @persondoingstuff @kittekat420 @juicyj28 @mikeikax @karmz-7319
‘Wait, you think Miles might be setting you up with Hobie?’ Gwen asked.
‘That’s what it feels like, we were just chilling then all of a sudden Hobie became the topic.’ You told her as you were waiting for the feet of your friends to come, knowing how Hobie goes to grab Miles first, then hoping over to Pav’s so the three could go to yours or Gwen’s dimension together; it was easy to know when they were near as you could hear them laughing and participate in some good old fashioned roughhousing with one another much like brothers did. So it wasn’t uncommon when one or all of them turn up with scuffed clothing and wide grins laced with mischief.
You and Gwen loved your boys, you truly did but the could be a fucking handful when they wanted to be, but that’s what you signed up for once becoming friends with them after some bonding during a mission to contain an anomaly in your; dimension 619.
‘Hmm,’ Gwen made a thoughtful face, she, Miles and Pavitr had taken notice of how Hobie acts when he’s with you and despite there no being real major differentiations but there was obviously something going off in the way he would always sit beside you, arm slung over your shoulders as his leg is pressed up against yours or how it was that whenever you spoke he would give you all of his undivided attention and hang onto your every word as though it were gospel. ‘If there’s anyone to ask about this it should be Hobie, after all wouldn’t it be better to hear it from him rather then through someone else that he has feelings for you?’
‘I guess you’re right but I just don’t see what he sees in me to find me all that interesting, I’m just another Spider-person like you, him, Pav and Miles.’ You tell Gwen, not seeing how someone as cool as him could ever possibly show interest in you; sure you’ve noticed a change or two in how he interacts with you but you didn’t want to be in over your head about this and end up looking like a total idiot for overanalysing. ‘Will you stop that.’ Gwen suddenly says and you look at her as you gradually stopped fiddling with the spiked cuff Hobie gave you a while back, ‘stop what?’
‘This!’ she exclaimed, ‘This self deprecating tear down, you’re a lovely person and i like being with you, Miles likes being with you, Pavitr likes being with you, Hobie especially likes being with you! A butterfly can’t see the colour of their wings but us as humans can see how beautiful they are; likewise you might not think you’re not good enough but others can see how special and amazing you are and to me, you’re pretty fucking amazing and I’m done letting you get in your own yeah in being happy.’ Gwen finished, slightly out of breath. She was done allowing you degrade yourself without letting you get a glimpse of what she sees, of what she thinks Hobie sees, because at the end of the day their words are just that; words, it was up to you on whether or not you wanted to believe them or not.
Before you could say anything in response, Hobie, Miles and Pavitr came onto the rooftop, laughing and smiling with one another and upon seeing you, Hobie made his way over, slugging his arm over your shoulder and tugging you into his side, jostling you a little upon seeing the look upon your face. ‘You alright love?’ He asked concerned. You sent him a smile as your hand reached to grab the one that was hanging loosely from your shoulders, giving it a quick squeeze. ‘I’m alright Hobie, nothing you need to worry yourself with.’
‘You’d tell me if there was wouldn’t you?’ Hobie asked, still not convinced that you were one hundred percent. ‘Hobie,’ you chuckled, ‘trust me I’m fine, me and Gwen just had a heart to heart is all.’ You tell him without going into much detail. Hobie stared at you a little longer to see if you were lying to him but stopped when he couldn’t, squeezing your hand, Hobie conceded, ‘fine, but just know I’m here for you yeah? You don’t gotta hide from me, I just wanna shoulder the burden with you and make it a tad easier on you.’ You appreciated Hobie’s want to help his friends, he’s naturally protective over you, Miles, Gwen and Pavitr so it was natural for him to want to help you guys wherever he can, mainly because he was the one all of you went for solid advice to now and then.
Yet you doubt he could help you when it came to you expressing your feelings for him. This was something you’d have to sort out yourself now with your newfound self confidence thanks to Gwen. You pressed an innocent kiss to Hobie’s cheek, ‘You’re amazing Hobie and I’m not dismissing your help or anything but I’m sure I can figure this out on my own, if I can’t then I’ll come to you.’ You tell him, unaware of the fact that Gwen, Pavitr and Miles all looked to you both just in time to see the kiss happen.
Gwen and Miles were both smiling with pride while Pavitr was trying his hardest not to squeal as he snapped a picture of the tender moment, once you two get together he was defiantly going to tease you both about how obvious the tension between you two was.
The thing that confuses me about the "don't vote" left (not the "I don't want to vote", I'm talking explicitly the "don't vote" left. I don't agree with the "I don't want to vote" left either but I can understand their logic) is they lose me at the final step of the logic. I've tried to connect the logic here, even if I don't agree with a political position I do try to understand where people are coming from (empathy for someones situation is not the same as cosigning it), but I just can't connect the dots here in a way that isn't deeply cruel. Does United States politics prioritize the lives of those in the US (and often white) over those in the Global South? Yes, it's a fucking atrocity. We should continue to make noise about it, cus Biden has used less drones and that shows progress, even if it's not enough. The part where I lose the plot is where the conclusion to this injustice is to let even more people die? Cus that's kinda how I see the idea of not voting: I can pick between shit and more shit, and at the end of the day, I'm picking whoever allows the most people to make it to the next day. Given Trumps stance on everything but specifically climate change, I feel like Biden is pretty significant harm reduction.
I don't think both things can't be true: that every life lost is a travesty we should not forget AND the more people we can save is worth fighting for.
The thing is, I have seen nothing among the "don't vote" far left (and I am talking here specifically about the people who both loudly announce their intention not to vote and try to convince others to do the same) to convince me that they actually care about harm reduction or stopping genocide. They only care about what makes them look the most Correct and/or superior to the Democrats. They yelled bloody murder about Obama using drones, they went dead quiet about Trump using them even more (even when he nearly started WWIII by assassinating the Iranian general Soleimani with one), and then said nothing at all when Biden reduced the drone program to almost nothing and withdrew the US from a failed war in Afghanistan it had long ago lost. Now they will yell all day about Israel/Hamas (something that Biden did not start and has had no direct military role in responding to) but they don't care about Russian genocide of Ukraine and Syria, Chinese threats to invade Taiwan, etc, because those governments are "anti-western/anti-American" and therefore should be defended. Their opposition to human suffering is extremely conditional and rests on whether they can look good out of it, and they never interrogate the hypocrisies of their own ideology.
Likewise: every country in the world prizes its own citizens above those of other countries. It's just a basic fact. Yes, the US has a grim history of intervening in other countries and causing untold civilian damage (especially during the Cold War and then in post-9/11 War on Terrorism). Yes, that legacy is complex and needs to be acknowledged. But literally none of that will be fixed, not to mention all the vulnerable people in America itself who will be punished, by Trump getting into power again. Biden is not just a grudging "lesser evil," but has done a lot of truly good and helpful things, regardless of the Online Leftists' constant lies, misinformation, and misrepresentation. If you spend all your time announcing what a champion you are for non-American marginalised people and/or those undergoing terrible suffering, and then deliberately and knowingly adhere to a course of action that will increase that suffering tenfold not only for those people but your own neighbors, friends, and family, then no, I don't believe you are a brave champion of social justice. You just want to know what categories of people you can gleefully and righteously punish and make to suffer for not believing the same things as you, that makes you just as dangerous as the right-wing fascists, and I can and will call out your ass accordingly.
waking from the nightmare
sunday x fem reader (he calls you his 'sweet girl' once) hurt/comfort post 2.2 so 2.2 spoilers
a/n: very self-ship coded but finishing 2.2 gave me a lot of feelings regarding Sunday and this was how I decided to cope. Was debating about publishing, but honestly the world could use more soft sunday content. he deserves nice things.
The long nightmare is finally over.
While the rest of Penacony had awoken from their dreams, that was the moment your nightmare had begun.
After the fall of the dream, Sunday was nowhere to be found. Despite Robin's intuition that he was indeed alive, it was not enough to soothe you. You spent long nights in his manor, tossing and turning as you struggled to sleep without knowing his ultimate fate. Your eyes always red from crying by the morning.
In the end you were the one who had to plead with members of the Bloodhound family, the ones who had found his injured form, to let him go back to you. Eventually, they relented, unable to look at you as you wept and pleaded for them to let him go. That everything that had happened was not his fault, not truly.
Now you lay beside him in his bed. Your head resting against his chest as he holds you to him. It's a surreal feeling to you, after being partially convinced you may never see him again.
Your eyes water at the thought. His hand instinctively reaching to caress your hair, threading his fingers through the strands.
"I... I'm sorry... You shouldn't... shouldn't have..."
You look up at the sound of his voice, shaking your head. A quiet sniffle escaping you.
"N-No, Sunday... You don't... you don't need to apologize for anything... You didn't... you were just trying to do what you thought was right. You aren't... you aren't a bad person..." You murmur softly through your tears, wiping them away with a balled fist as you try and fail not to fall apart in front of him.
"Little dove..." He whispers, softly, the golden hues of his eyes softening as he lifts a hand to your face. Wiping away your tears with his thumb. "You are so kind, so good... Too sweet for your own good... But that has always been what drew me to you, isn't it?" He gives you a half smile, the wings beside his head fluttering slightly for a moment. “How you remained so kind, so understanding despite all the pain the world put you through... How you never let it change you, twist you into something else.” He pulls you closer, holding you protectively to him. Settling his chin atop your head as you weep silently against his chest. Your fingers curling against his nightwear, clinging to him as if you feel afraid, afraid he might be taken from you again. “Promise... promise me you will stay, please... Sunday. I just... I was so afraid, afraid I would never see you again...” He hushes you softly, brushing his fingers through your hair again. His free hand moving to rub small circles around the small of your back. “Of course, my sweet girl. I promise. I will not leave you alone again, I’m here. Rest, little dove. Everything will... will be alright.”
What we have in common
Pairings: Hazbin Hotel Adam x Angel reader, a Little bit of Lucifer x Angel Y/n at the start
Summary: Angel Y/n realizes that she and the first man Adam might have a little more in common than she thought.
Tumblr media
Y/n's Pov (Before Lucifer fell)
(FLASHBACK)
I believed that when I had met him I had met the one. Me and Lucifer had met when I had bumped into him while we were both flying around. I was immediately charmed by his laugh his smile his way with words it was like speaking to someone who you knew was going to stick around and love you forever. Everything felt like it was going my way and I couldn't be happier he had told me that he loved me and that we were made to be together. I had never felt like I belonged more than I did at that moment believing every word that Lucifer had said like it was holy text but everything started turning sour when Lucifer started going down to the Garden of Eden. He had told me that he wanted to go down and just see how the humans were getting along and how different they were from us. And at the start, it was okay he would come back and tell me all about the humans and how fascinating they were and how much they looked like us just without wings, and how at this stage they were so pure and innocent.
But the more he went down the more I suddenly felt him drift away from me. He would come back and refuse to talk to me or just tell me he was too tired to talk it was hurting me and I started believing that I had done something to push him away. So one night after he had come back from Eden I decided that I wasn't going to leave him alone until I got an answer on what was going on. "Have I done something to anger you, Luci?" He just looked at me then he looked at the ground "No why would you think that" He tried to move past me but I stood my ground "Because you've changed we used to do stuff me and you but now we barely see each other your always down at Eden looking at those humans and when you come back you refuse to talk or look at me". He again looked at the floor but this time he took a deep breath and finally looked me in the eyes. "I can't lie to you anymore Y/n I've fallen for the human Lilith she just...completes me and I truly believe that we are soulmates". I didn't know what I was expecting to hear but that wasn't it. I felt tears well up in my eyes "But...you said we were soulmates, you said you loved me. you... you can't just leave me for this...other woman Lucifer we are supposed to be the ones truly in love".
Lucifer again took a deep breath clearly trying to stay as calm and collected as possible. "Y/n why can't you understand you are the other woman... I don't love you anymore please forgive me Y/n I... I never meant to hurt you but..." I let my tears fall down my cheeks out of anyone that he could have fallen for it had to be the human. "So what all the I love yous before you left every morning just meant nothing to you they were just empty lies and every morning after saying you loved me you would go see her and love her!". He again looked at the ground not saying anything I had loved this man more than anything and I thought he had loved me back. "Just go Lucifer please just...go". He tried to again apologize but I shut him down just telling him to leave I didn't even want to see him anymore I was too hurt. After a few seconds, he flew off and the minute that he had left my view I fell to my knees and sobbed I couldn't believe that in his eyes I had just been the woman that he needed to escape so he could be with the one he really wanted. I felt nothing but complete heartbreak.
(PRESENT DAY)
It had been a couple of months since Lucifer had left me for Lilith and to say I wasn't still heartbroken would be a lie but I had tried my best to move on. But I had heard through some Angels that Lucifer and Lilith had both been thrown down to a place called hell because they had convinced a human named Eve to eat a forbidden apple or something like that giving humans free will. I knew that the human Adam had recently passed away and had joined us up here in heaven but I hadn't seen him. But I wasn't sure what had happened to Eve lots of angels believed because she took the forbidden apple she was to be sent to hell but we were never really sure.
I had been sitting on a ledge in heaven that I normally sit on when I want to be alone and watch the sunset because not many people knew about it but that peace and quiet when I heard someone behind me clearly having some sort of trouble by the number of curse words they were using so I turned around to see what was happening and that's when I saw him. It was the first man who was clearly having trouble getting used to his wings but then I didn't blame him all of this stuff must be very new and confusing to him.
"Are you okay over there?". He jumped a little clearly he hadn't noticed me but he then put on an overconfident smile. "Yup I'm a natural at this babe so I'm completely fine just a little wind you know completely threw me off so technically wind fault that I mucked up". I couldn't help but smile at his explanation clearly trying to show off but I didn't mind. "Hmm yeah, I guess you're right the wind has been a little heavier recently" We both knew I was lying heaven has the perfect weather every day but he must have liked that I had played along because he started walking closer to me. "Yeah sucks but hey my name is Adam I'm actually the.." before he could continue I finished off his sentence for him "The first man yes I know I've heard lots of angels talk about you and how you got into heaven". He looked at me a little shocked but then sat down next to me. "It's so weird having people already know me before they've met me I feel like everyone is talking about me right now and it's kinda making me nervous you know like I just got here and people are bombarding me with questions and stuff".
"Well to be fair Adam you were the first man ever created you are special God created you so no wonder everyone is talking about you and until now we hadn't realized that human souls can get into heaven so now you are also the first human soul to enter heaven". He just sat there looking forward at the sunset muttering the words "Special" and "First man" but then he suddenly looked at me and gave me a small smile. "So what's your deal why are you sitting here all alone would think angels would be hanging out with each other and all that crap". I just shrugged my shoulder "I normally do but I come out here when I want to think and reminisce". He looked at me a little confused "reminisce about what?" I looked forward to the sunset not wanting to make eye contact with him "I had a love I believed that he was the one you know perfect fit but I soon found out that he loved a human and left me for her they got what they deserved but what can I say it hurt Lucifer his name was". Then that's when I remembered who I was talking to another human who knew Lilith and was also her husband but before I could turn around and apologize he stared talking.
"Yeah, she hurt me too I loved her I really did but yeah she left me for that fucker said that I wasn't good enough anymore and that she loved him more than I got Eve and then she cheated on me with him...it was like I couldn't win you know". For the first time, I had never really thought that Lilith would have had to leave Adam to be with Lucifer so I never had thought about how he would have felt about the whole thing but now seeing his face and the pain that was written on it I knew he was going through the exact thing I was going through. "It does hurt and I'm so sorry that happened to you, you never deserved that" We were now both looking at each other and I grabbed his hand wanting in some way to comfort him. "Meh well like you said they got what they deserved they are now both in a horrible place and it should stay that way what they both get for hurting us". I nodded agreeing with everything that he was saying. Continuing to hold each other's hand we sat and watched the sunset again in silence until I started talking. "You know if you would like I can help you get better at flying it will take a bit of practice but once you get the hang of it it's one of the best things to do". Adam nodded and smiled "Yeah I would like that just as long as you don't tell anyone because I don't want them to think that I can't fly". I put my hand on my heart and swore "I promise I won't tell a soul it stays between me and you"
Adam smiled "You know I think I get what you mean by sitting here by yourself it's nice and calming we should totally make it our special place". I just looked at him "Our special place?" He then sat up a bit straighter "Yeah you know only me and you can come here and we can tell each other stuff and if we feel shit we can talk to each other about it and look at the sunset with each other like our little getaway it would be so cool so what do you say me and you from now on no more sitting by yourself!" I just nodded while smiling he was definitely different but I liked that and it was nice to have someone who understood and wanted to spend time with me...I wasn't alone anymore and I felt happy.
But little did I know that later in the future I would be sitting alone on the ledge again but this time I would have a broken mask in my hands and I would again be sobbing.
Alastor x reader
FEATHER chapter III
Tags: fluff (for now ) enemies to lovers, kissing, being protective, cuddles, sleeping problems, flirting, possesive reader is an angel, fem reader
Tumblr media
He needed a new plan, something that would change her mind about him. He had always been able to enchant women, making them fall for him completely. Maybe that's what he needed now; since the fear of Adam wasn't enough, he needed something deeper – love. It was a strange word for him, when he tried to imagine it, all that came to his mind was a deep desire and craving.
Y/N was definitely one of the things he desired most throughout his afterlife, a gateway to freedom. Escape from the curse he brought upon himself.
The memory of her momentary outburst of anger made him blush, and his hand instinctively went to the ear she had touched.
He was not angry, her touch and closeness weakened his contract, unlocking dormant potential. It made him feel like he had a radio playing in his chest.
This cute angel had to desire his presence enough to bind her soul to him for eternity.
"Vaggie, my dear, how do you feel?" a cheerful radio voice filled the room. The fallen angel quickly scanned the room, looking for his spear.
"Calm down, sweetheart. I just need some information from you," he said, sitting on the other side of the bed, twirling a cane in his hands.
"What do you need, freak? And what are you doing in my and Charlie's bedroom?" she questioned.
"As I said, it's a matter of great importance, and I need information.
Speak before I wake up enough to kick you out."
"What does Y/N like? Generally, what do angels like, what do you find appealing in others? Why did you fall in love with Charlie?"
Vaggie needed to rub her eyes and analyze what the uninvited guest had just said. Why this sudden interest in Y/N? What did he want from her? She was an angel too, there must be something only Y/N could do.
"Listen, I don't know what you're plotting with that devilish smile, but nothing will come of it. She's an ANGEL, and a higher-ranking one at that. Why would she stoop to your level?"
"Let's say that majestic little angel charmed me from the first glance. So, what made you fall in love with Charlie?"
Vaggie couldn't comprehend this sudden alastor interest in love.
"I don't know if you'd understand even if I told you."
"So let me try," his tone sharpened with growing impatience.
I fell in love with Charlie because she was full of love."
This answer didn't help him at all, it even confused him more. Someone being full of love was the complete opposite of him, and yet, many had fallen for him before.
"I told you, you won't understand. She is an angel, she loves goodness, harmony, people ready to help and love."
So, he needed to become a lovely person. Nothing he couldn't do.
She sat behind the bar, helping Husk, occasionally lifting Niffty to dust the shelves, and with one wing, she created a breeze to dry freshly painted Angel nails. She was definitely full of love. Her long white hair tangled in the midst of these various activities.
Ugh he was doing it again, observing her from the shadows when it was time to act. He teleported in front of the counter.
Hello, everyone. What's with all the commotion?"
Charlie said she had a new plan to defeat the attack, so they were preparing for her speech - Niffty explained.
Alastor knew exactly which plan they were talking about, specifically his cannibalistic plan, slowly being put into action. Maybe if he suggested to the little angel that he killed Adam deliberately for her, she would fall at his feet?
Well, she would quickly flew back to the heavens. The death of Adam was no longer an option. A sudden, indescribable fear and shiver ran through his body at the thought. What if she truly left, and he never saw her again?
"Alastor." Snapped out of this sudden panic, he looked directly into bright blue eyes.
,,Alastor, you've turned pale. Is everything okay?" Her hand on his forearm made him feel better.
"Yes, don't worry, sweetheart. It's just a momentary weakness. You, on the other hand, need a little help."
She looked at him disoriented.
Remembering his last thoughtless move, he decided it was better to ask.
,‚Can I?" - pointing to her twisted hair.
Embarrassed by this fact, she turned around, trying to locate the tangle. Indeed, she should tie them up for cleaning. Long fingers in black gloves conjured a thin, decorated comb. Alastor began to slowly and gently untangle her hair, humming an unfamiliar jazz tune under his breath.
The atmosphere became quite specific and romantic, which Angel dust quickly noticed. Quietly, he grabbed Niffty's arm and signaled Husk to go with him to the exit. Some time ago, he noticed that Alastor behaved strangely in the company of his new friend. Especialy when he returned from work and caught him holding one of her lost feathers to his lips. Of course, he pretended to be too high to notice.
Alastor and Y/N didn't even notice that they were left alone, lost in their own thoughts. Y/N couldn't remember the last time someone had combed her hair, let alone so gently. Her attention was drawn to the sudden silence when the demon finished humming behind her. She began to feel awkward, trying to find some point of contact.
"I put a gift from you in the room," - she mumbled.
Alastor looked at her as if awakened from a dream - "Oh, that's great. You like it?"
"I like your touch too; it always makes me feel calmer."
"I'm glad to hear that."
Wait, what did she say? His touch always made her feel calmer. The only time Alastor could remember touching Y/N before was in the hallway when she was furious with him. The only direct touch he remembered.
Alastor swallowed.- "What do you mean, always?"
"Oh, you know, your little games with my feather. You know when you're sleeping with it, I also feel company in my bed ?
He didn't know what to say. She could feel that, every single time he kissed, touched, or bit that little thing, she could feel it.
"Y-you knew? Why didn't you just take it back?"
"Maybe I didn't want to take it back and stop you?"
For the next hundred years, Alastor wouldn't feel as embarrassed as he did at that moment.
Y/N looked at him with those pure eyes, clearly flirting with him. Was that enough? Showing some heart and affection to make an angel fall for you?
She leaned closer to him, their breaths almost touching, and he tightly gripped the edge separating them.
What could he do? No sensible answer appeared in his mind, and he couldn't just turn away or escape. So, he did something he always saw in those cheesy romantic comedies his mother used to watch.
Not knowing exactly what he was doing, he gently and quickly kissed her. It was like the first innocent peck in kindergarten, even though it was his first.
Hello, this is my first time requesting something and i was kinda nervous and i have a few ideas in mind.
But i was wondering if you can write an avatar x maleficent readeri don’t see many of these and i would like something different, and love your writing (if you can’t thats totally fine) thx
This was such a cute idea that I had immediately started it once I got this request! I kinda did a style of the movies still exists and it's not just a random occurrence in the universe. I cut this off to have a nice and fluff type ending but with the opportunity to do a part 2 with heavy angst. And if you want one with the second movie, like it's a growth from this one, just let me know.
Finding Home ~Avatar x Maleficent! Reader
Warnings: Small injuries and a miscommunication that almost causes a fight (Tsu'tey doesn't understand human friendship dynamics)
Masterlist
Being born with wings was definitely a surprise when everyone in the delivery room when I was born. Especially when I later began to grow horns with each passing month. I could only imagine everyone's surprise when they all found out I was exactly like the Disney character Maleficent. That the story wasn't as fictional as everyone had once thought.
Growing up I had idolized the movies of her, ecstatic that I was unique just like she was. Though their were difficulties with my uniqueness as I got older. It was harder to breathe normally compared to someone that had regular problems when I had come to be about 6.
Mom worked with the RDA as a researcher, so they were willing to take a look at me to see what might be wrong. They finally came to the conclusion it was because of the lack of natural forests with fresh air. This caused me to have to use a special inhaler at least 3 times a day. But it was also a discovery that changed my life because I got to meet Grace.
"You know, I'm going to a special place. A different planet that's supposed to have a lot of trees and all kinds of animals and flowers. I think it's just the place you need to truly thrive. Do you like that idea?"
That's what led me here 21 tear years later, technically 15 if cryosleep isn't counted. A botanical expert that would be working alongside Grace and the other members of the Avatar program.
During the safety briefing, I could feel everyone staring at me. But I had become used to it and just focused on the information that was being given to us. Feeling anxious to see Grace again after so long since I first and last saw her.
After the meeting was over, I got ushered along with a Norm and Jake to go and meet up with Grace. I had a small bounce in my step as I walked along with them, not even noticing the weird looks.
"I just gotta ask. What's with the wings and horn things? You like dressing up in them or something?"
"Jake!"
I chuckled softly at the question, casually looked over at the both of them as Jake just waits for an answer as Norm looks absolutely mortified. Stretching my back slightly, I lift one wing up to hang over his had for a second. Smirking at the look of pure awe on both of their faces. "That good enough for you?"
"Holy shit," Jake softly laughed out as he stared at them for a few more seconds before shaking his head. "Now I've seen it all."
"No, I don't think you have yet." I look ahead as we get to the control center of the Avatar program. A smile spreading across my face as I take in all the technology around us, focusing mostly on the screens that were playing overhead.
The sound of one of the pods opening drew my attention away to across the room. A genuine smile coming across my face as I saw her sitting up from the machine, Dr. Grace Augustine.
Grace spoke to some of the other researchers before she turned to look at all of us. I had to keep myself from jumping in to hug her when she turned her focus to me.
Taking in my appearance, she had a small grin as she reached out and affectionately cupped my chin. "Look at how much you've grown. I don't even recognize that little kid that used to carry around a stuffed Maleficent toy like it was a part of you. I'm glad you got to join the program, (Y/n)."
"Thank you, Dr. Augustine," I bashfully reply, feeling ecstatic that she even remembered my name from one interaction years ago. "I'm grateful for the opportunity to be here and working alongside you."
"Always the modest one. That's one of the things I admired about you." She playfully shook my head before finally letting go. Her face becoming a little more stern as she looked at Jake and Norm. Speaking a little more firmly with them.
Letting her words fade into the background, I look back over at all monitors that sit in the center of the room. Marveling at the images that were showing up along with the graphs and how quickly they changed every few seconds.
"They update in real time, you know." I turn my head over to see a guy with glasses standing there with a smile. Pointing up at one of the screens, he continues, "The graphs and the numbers. They help us monitor the vitals of everyone while they are in the pods."
I let out a small 'oh' in understanding as I look back at the monitors for a couple more moment before looking back at him. Holding my hand out, I begin to introduce myself, "I'm (Y/n)."
"I heard," he chuckled out as he took hold of my hand. "My name's Max. I help track the vitals of everyone. And I'm sure everyone heard your name earlier. Grace has never been that nice to anyone before, except for the children."
"Children?" I give him a questioning look as I drop his hand. "They have children here on the base?"
"No, the Na'vi children. Oh, I bet that they are going to love you when they get a look at you." Max's eyes widen when he realized what he had said. Opening and closing his mouth as he tries to find something else to say.
"(Y/n), follow me. Time for a little academic show around." Grace calls out as she begins to head out the door with the men close behind.
Turning back to look at Max one last time, I raise my hand with another smile as I walk away. "I hope your right about that."
I lightly jog to catch up with the group as Grace leads us through the series of hallways until she pushes open a set of doors. When we enter, the first thing I noticed was the dim lighting and blue tint that almost glowed around us. The second thing was the glass tubes that held our Avatars.
Grace placed a hand on my shoulder before leading me to a specific pod off towards the back of the room. Speaking softly when we get closer, "It will take a little longer for you to get your Avatar than the others. It decided to pick up a few extra strands in your DNA that we used."
I stare in awe as I stand in front of the tank, noticing what she had meant. There laid a Na'vi body with features just like mine. Along with a small set of horns and wings that were still developing to fit the rest of the body. Stepping closer, I set my hand on the glass as I smile down at the body. "It's beautiful."
Grace stood beside me with one arm around my shoulders as she put her other hand on the glass with me. "Just like you."
While I didn't have the Avatar body, Grace still let me tag along during the research expeditions. Just as long as I promised to keep my inhaler on my person and my mask stayed on at all times if I didn't need to use it. Just because she wanted to test out the theory of me potentially being able to breathe the air here slowly and in a controlled environment.
We were carefully walking through the forest to a spot where Grace had decided to get some new samples from earlier. There wasn't much talk as we took in the sight of living plants in front of us. Or at least me and Norm were mostly focused on them.
"So, are you able to fly with your wing? Or do they not work for that?" I turn my head up to see Jake staring back at with a confused look on his face.
"I can, but not very well. There weren't many places that I could do something like that back on Earth," I casually explain to him before looking around back around at the area around us.
Grace kneels to the ground around some roots in a tree as she begins to get the equipment ready with Norm as she guides him on what to look for with the images that showed on the screen. I tried to pay attention as I looked down, but I saw Jake walk away out of the corner of my eye.
Following after him, I see him interacting with a different kind of plant. The moment he touched it, it retracted towards the ground as a defense mechanism. I smiled as I watched him do it again with the same result. We both laughed slightly until all of them went to the ground to reveal a small group of the native animals.
We both hold our breaths as one of them gets closer to us. Grace comes running over with Norm as she calls out to Jake. "Don't move. It's only a defense tactic. Just stand your ground."
I watched as he stared down the creature until I felt the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Slowly turning my head around and up, I saw a different animal with sharp fangs staring down at me. I held my breath out of fear as it looked over at Jake and let out a low growl. Jumping over the both of us, it stared down at Jake as he took a step back.
"What do I do with this one?" Jake called over to Grace as he locked eyes with the predator in front of us.
It let out another low growl when Grace called back, "Definitely run!"
I barely processed the fact that Jake had turned around to start running. I let out a small scream as he lifted me over his shoulder. I held onto his shoulder as I helplessly watched as the creature chase after us through the dense forest.
Suddenly Jake came to a halt which caused me to look over to see we had gotten to a cliff edge near a waterfall. "What are you doing?! Go!"
"Can you swim?!"
"Fucking jump!" I apparently didn't have to tell him a second time when a deafening roar sounded through the trees. He pulled me down to his chest and jumped down as he stiffened his body. I wrapped my wings tightly around us right before we hit the surface.
Water rushed past us for a few seconds before Jake began to swim upward. Pushing away from him to start swimming myself, we raise our heads over the surface. Jake gasped for air as we both look to see the creature slowly walk back into the forest.
I let out a small sigh as we swim over to the shore and check for any injuries. I glare at Jake after making sure I was fine from the fall. My voice laced with a subtle anger when I say, "'Can you swim'?"
Jake looks at him as he raises a hand as he backs away. "I was trying to make sure you would be safe if we-"
"Can you swim!? Can you fucking swim!? That's the first thing you thought of!? Not, 'is your mask waterproof' or 'is the thing catching up'! You could have thrown me and I would have flown down while you jumped if you were that worried! But 'can you swim' was all you could think of!?"
"You know," Jake began talking as he turned around and started to walk through the forest, "you are very angry for someone that looks like a Disney character."
"She was a villain to begin with anyways. Maybe you should watch your back Sully." I continue to glare at his back as I walk behind him deeper into the forest.
He looks over his shoulder with a smile as he takes in my disheveled appearance. Trying his hardest to hold in his laughter as he shrugged. "Grace wouldn't let you."
"Grace isn't here," I whisper to myself as we continue to walk. I hear noises of unknown animals from deep in the forest. Despite being mad at Jake, I quicken my pace to be walking beside him. Looking up at the trees, a strange feeling coming over my body as I scan the leaves overhead. "Jake..."
"I know," he mumbled as he carefully scans the trees as well. Reaching a hand out, he gently takes hold of my arm and pulls me to his side. "I feel the eyes too."
"Where are they? What are they?" I hold onto his arm as I start to breathe a little erratically. Using my free hand to rub at my chest as I begin to cough.
"Hey, hey. Calm down there. We'll be okay." Jake looks down at me as he stops walking. Kneeling down a little as his hand goes to my soaked bag. "You need your inhaler 3 times a day, right? You haven't used it since breakfast. Let's get it out and take a deep breath. Can you get it out?"
I nod my head as I let him take the bag off my shoulder. Trying to take a few shaky breaths as I begin to rummage through everything that I had packed. Quickly grabbing hold of the inhaler the moment I uncover it from under everything else. Pulling it out as I shake it lightly as I look at Jake. He gives a small nod, which help my nerves as I bring my free hand to my mask. Pulling it up just enough, I bring my inhaler up to my mouth and take a deep breath. Pulling it away almost immediately to secure my mask back into place with a deep breath.
Jake rubs my shoulder as he waits for me to catch my breath. Giving me an encouraging nod as holds my bag open as I put my inhaler back inside. "There we go. Come one, we need to keep moving. It's going to be night in a few hours and we need to find a place to spend the night."
I nod my head again as I look back at the trees above. Taking my bag back from him and securing it on my shoulder before we began to get on our way once again.
The sun had went down just a little over an hour ago. The sounds of multiple animals circling around us was all that I could hear as Jake began to sharpen a stick. I anxiously look around the trees to try and find where the animals might come from, but they just kept circling around just past our line of sight.
"(Y/n), look at me," Jake speaks in a slightly stern voice as he grabs my arm. As I look at him, I see the fear in his eyes at the situation. But he keeps his composure as he keeps talking as if he wasn't to begin with. "If anything happens, if I tell you to run, you forget about me and get out of here. You fly up and get into a tree until morning when Grace will come back and find you. You look after yourself and I know that you'll be fine. Do you understand?"
I quickly nod my head to show that I understood. I was going to say something to him, something about how it wouldn't have to come to that, but the words stopped short as the bushes right beside us rustle. I can't even fully comprehend it before Jake began to push me away in the opposite direction as we started running again.
We didn't run for long until the animals began to circle us in. I ended up with my back pressed against a tree as the dog like creatures snapped their teeth at Jake. I shut my eyes as soon as he begins to fight off the creatures. I didn't want to watch if he potentially had to kill a few of them before they hopefully ran off somewhere else.
Just as soon as everything got crazy, everything went quiet. I hesitantly opened my eyes to see Jake on the ground as a Na'vi woman kneels down to one of the creatures. Though I couldn't quite make out what she was saying, I could tell she was mumbling a prayer for the creature. That act alone made me look down and away from her, remembering how Grace told us of how sacred life was to the people.
Jake apparently wasn't informed of that or didn't remember as he tried to get closer to her, reaching out and touching her shoulder as he repeatedly tried to thank her. I had to keep from laughing as she swung her bow and hit Jake right in the face. I didn't do that good of a job as she looked over at me with a small hiss before turning around and running into the forest.
Jake quickly got off the ground and followed after her. I didn't even have the chance to protest as he called out from over his shoulder. "Come on (Y/n)."
I quickly made sure my bag was still closed, I ran after the both of them. Though it was a little harder considering that they were larger and more physically equipped to be jumping around the limbs of the trees.
"Hey, wait up!" Jake called out to the Na'vi as we got to a tree that was decently high up from the ground. He had just caught up to her when she turned around to face him.
"Away. Both of you," she spoke in a quiet tone, but the disdain was evident as she looked between the both of us. Getting so close in Jake's space that he took a step back and almost slipped. I held my breath as I watched Jake try to reason with her, even blocking me from her view by steeping to the side just slightly.
I tried to keep focused on the situation, but something moved closer to us out of the corner of my eye. Turning my head out of fear that another creature had followed us. But to my surprise there were small plant like things floating in the air. Slowly getting closer to us before most of them began to land on Jake. A hand full of them remained floating in the air nearby. Hesitantly, I reach a hand out to them, watching in awe as it slowly landed on my open palm. I laughed softly as it gently tickled my skin while the others continued to float around us.
After a few moments, they began to float away from us. I turned towards Jake with a huge grin at what had just happened. My gaze quickly turns curious as I see the Na'vi looking at us both in awe as well.
She looked between me and Jake before she beckoned us with a wave of her hand. "Follow me. Come now."
Jake looked like he wanted to protest her sudden change in heart, but I lightly pushed against his back to get him to follow her. With a sigh, Jake quickly began to chase after her with me following close behind.
We continue running across the tree limbs that seem to stretch on for eternity. Anxiety and anticipation coursing through my veins as the three of us go deeper into the forest.
"Where are we even-" Jake stops in the middle of his question as something comes in contact with his legs. I watch in horror as he violently falls down to the forest floor.
"Jake!" I call out as I lean over to see if he was injured. But I was forced to stop short as something wrapped around my chest. Throwing me off balance as I fall down to the ground as well, landing just a few feet from Jake. The impact leaves me disoriented as my head hits just lightly against a rock that was barely uncovered from the dirt.
I blink away the blur that comes into my vision as yelling sounds from almost every direction. A pair of hands lifts me up before one removes itself. My body tensing up entirely as I feel a sharp, cold blade carefully press right in between my shoulder blades.
Glancing over at Jake, I see he was in a similar situation with a knife pressed against his neck as they held him by his queue. But my attention quickly shifts again when the Na'vi who seems to be the leader of our ambush committee comes forward. He jumped down from his mount as he began to stalk over to Jake.
When he got just a few feet from Jake, the woman jumped down from the branch. Effectively blocking his path as the two of them began to argue between the two of them. I wasn't able to catch most of what they were saying due to how my head was throbbing due to the fall. What I could tell was that he wasn't happy with our presence and she mentioned something that involved their Tsahik.
The conversation came to a quick halt as the leader got back onto the horse like creature. He gave a short order to the rest of the group, which caused the Na'vi that were holding us to pull us to our feet. The sudden movement caused my head to spin so much that my stomach churned. I kneeled back to the ground before lifting up my mask, throwing up what little content I had in my stomach. Barely having enough time to secure my mask back on before the Na'vi begin to force me to my feet once again.
"Kehe!" The tugging on my arms stops when the woman calls out to them. They quickly let go of me when she pushes them away. She gently grabs my face with a small frown as she turns it to the side. Her voice is soft as she ghosts her fingers over a spot on the side of my head. "You are hurt. Let me help you to Hometree. You will get treated once we are there."
I don't stop her when she awkwardly wraps her arms around my body. Being tentative not to touch at the base of my wings too much as she lifts me up. I close my eyes with a small sigh as I slowly grasp at her words. My voice hardly a whisper when I ask, "We're going to Hometree?"
She shushes me as she begins to run with the rest of the group. I hold onto her with a small whine from the motions, even if I wasn't seeing the sights that were passing us by.
Before long, the movements came to a stop as soft murmuring echoed around us. I open my eyes to see that we had finally made it to the Hometree of the Omatikayan people. Many of them gathered around as the group came to the center.
I gently get set down near Jake, leaning into his side as I sway just slightly on my feet. I take another breath as I hear a conversation happening between the woman and another member of the clan. Making out just bits of what each of them were saying in the broken haze of focus that I had.
"What is he saying?" Jake's voice sounds out like a sore thumb when he asks the question. Though I couldn't tell if he was asking me solely or if it extended to the woman as well.
"My father is deciding on whether to kill you both or not." I frown at the blunt explanation she gave at the question. I barely even had time to register that information when I felt Jake move slightly before yelling sounded and I got jostled around.
My eyes immediately shot open at the motion as my wings stretched out in a defensive manner. This had caused more yelling as Jake pulled me closer to his side. But all the noise stopped when another voice calls out for silence. Everyone shifts their gaze over to see the Tsahik stepping into the center of the circle.
I blink away at the dizziness that I feel when she stands in front of us. Taking a deep breath, I bring my hand up to my forehead as I do my best to greet her without messing up the pronunciation.
When I lifted my gaze back up to her, she had a small grin on her face. "I see you were taught some of our ways. Though I see that you might not know the language."
I look at her confused at what she had just said. Looking up at Jake, I speak in a soft voice, "I swear that I pronounced it right."
"You didn't say anything," Jake told me with a concerned expression.
I blink at him a couple of times before I pointed at him with a serious look. "I believe I have a concussion."
"You believe? What gave you that impression?" The sarcasm dripped from his voice as he looked back up at the Tsahik. My face scrunched up slightly before I looked back at her as well.
She slowly took out a knife that had been resting in her neckwear. She quickly stepped towards Jake as she stabbed into his chest. I cringed as she licked away the small bit of blood that was on it. She looked at Jake with a curious expression before she looked down at me again.
She was about to do the same thing until the younger Na'vi, presumably her daughter with what I was gathering, stopped her before the knife hit my chest. She gently took my hand and pointed to the center of my palm. "One touched here."
The Tsahik seemed slightly intrigued by the statement, but she didn't say anything. She gently poked her knife just enough to collect a small bit of blood on the tip before licking it way with a thoughtful look. She looked between us once more before she addressed the crowd. "The Dreamwalker and the... human, shall stay with us. They will learn of our ways and what it means to be Na'vi. We shall all watch them as they learn."
Multiple reactions sound through the crowd at the choice their Tsahik had made, but she didn't pay them any mind. Instead, she turned to her daughter while saying, "Take him to get out of his demon clothes. I will tend to the child."
"I'm in my 20s. I'm not a child," I spoke up at the comment about my age. I knew that compared to their size I probably wouldn't been seen as a full adult to them. But I had been expecting to be acknowledged as more than an adolescent.
Jake gave me a light pat on the shoulder before he reached into my bag and started rummaging around. "Let's get your head working right first before you argue how old you are. But you're going to use your inhaler first before you get out of my sight again."
I let out a sigh as he pulled my inhaler out and placed it in my hand. Nodding my head at his statement, I took a deep breath before lifting my mask back up and taking a couple of puffs of the medicine. I blink back my dizziness when I put my mask back into place.
Jake takes my inhaler from my hand and puts it back in my bag for me. He tilts my head up slightly so I look him in the eyes as he speaks again. "You do what she says so you get better. And don't fall asleep for at least a couple of hours so we make sure your actually okay."
"Yes, mother," I snark at him as the Tsahik gently grabbed my arm and began pulling me up the steps that they had for the tree. I was mostly nudged up the tree by her until she guided me into a small platform that was suspended between the branches. She guided me to sit down on what seemed to be a woven blanket. She moved around and collected a few plants and a small bowl before she began to grind them into a paste.
She never looked up from her task as she spoke to me in a soft tone. "You are not entirely human."
I shake my head with a bashful grin as I watch her mix the plants together. Leaning forward slightly as I try to get a better look at her process. "Everyone thinks that I have fairy blood or something. None of the scientists could really agree on one theory about my condition. Just that I had a mutation somewhere in my family tree or such."
"You used a human thing earlier. What is its purpose to you?" She continued speaking as she grabbed my chin to turn my head. Gently rubbing the paste against where I had hit my head.
I closed my eyes with a small sigh, enjoying the cool feeling on my skin. Humming softly as I think of how to explain it to her. "It's a medicine thing. I use it so I can breathe normal enough to go on day to day. A lot of humans have the same thing. I just have an extra special condition."
"You can't breathe your own air." Based on her tone, I knew she was making a statement and not asking. I opened my eyes as she removed her hands from my body. Watching as she went over to grab a few bandages and a small bowl like container.
I shook my head as she sat down next to me again. Watching as she applied a bit more of the paste to the bandages. "No. That's part of why I'm here. Grace had thought I could maybe breath the air here with the forests. But that was before everyone knew the air here was toxic to humans. But she still wants to see if I can handle. Grace wants to do a few test before we fully see if I can."
As I finished my explanation, she began to carefully wrap the bandages around my head. When she was done with that, she then grabbed the container and held it out to me. "Drink this. It will help with the pain and let you rest well through the night."
I wanted to argue that I shouldn't go to sleep anytime soon, but I stopped myself when she gave me a stern look. I took a few quick drinks as I repeatedly took my mask off so I could drink however much she saw fit. When all the liquid was gone, she finally took it from me with a small nod. Almost immediately after I put my mask back on for the last time, she began to guide me to lay down on the blanket.
I watch her walk around he area, organizing things as she went. My eyes started to flutter shut with passing second that I watched her before speaking up just slightly in the quiet space, "My name's (Y/n)."
I thought I saw her smile a little as she continued to move things around on a shelf. I heard her voice speak out one last time before I went to sleep. "You may call me Mo'at, (Y/n)."
I begin to wake up to sound of hushed giggles filtering in and out of my consciousness. With a small groan, I opened my eyes to see a group of children standing over me. As soon as they see me wake up, they let out small shrieks before running off towards the bottom of the tree. Effectively dodging Mo'at as she comes into the area with a small basket.
She smiles as the children run by before she comes back over to me and sits down. Immediately lifting me up into an upright position as she begins to undo the bandages on my head. "I see the children have already taken an interest in you."
I smile at her before glancing over at the stairs that lead down. "I guess they do. I'm just glad they aren't terrified of how I look."
"They are young. Your world makes them curious and they have never seen one of your people with your... characteristics."
I laugh softly at the last part of what she said. Looking back at Mo'at, I saw she had set aside the bandages that she put on my head last night. My gaze becoming a bit more serious as I noticed a small bit of blood had soaked into it.
"You are fine. The worst that might happen is a small scar," her voice was firm but gentle when she reassured me. Taking a few new bandages from her basket before rewrapping my head in a slightly more snug way than last night. When she was done, she gave my head a small pat before pushing the basket towards me. I noticed that it had a small arrangement of foods in it as she stood back up and moved over to a shelf. "Take the mask off so you eat. It's not of use to you if you can breathe the air."
"But we don't know if I can breathe the air. Grace hasn't done the test to see if I could." I quickly try to remind her that it was only a theory that I could live without the mask on Pandora. That I couldn't know for certain if it would possibly to even do it for even a short period of time.
"You seemed to do just fine with it being broken while you slept." My breath caught in my throat as I took in her sudden revelation.
I frantically grabbed the small oxygen tank to see that the capacity was at zero. Frantically taking off the mask, my gaze immediately fell on a small bit of glass that had broken off and leaving a small, but still noticeable, hole. I take a few small breaths to see if anything seemed off, but it all was normal as I kept taking deep breaths.
"I'm not dead," I utter in disbelief as I look back at her in confusion. My mouth hanging open as I try to piece together how that could have worked. "But... how?"
"I believe you had said something about 'fairy blood' last night. Or did you not really mean that when you told me?" Mo'at had a playful grin on her face as she glanced back over at me.
"I'm going to be perfectly honest here, after I fell off that branch last night, I don't remember much of anything. It's all a blur besides from getting here, your daughter Neytiri, and a very grumpy man who shouted a lot."
"Tsu'tey. That is the man you remember. Now eat," she spoke firmly once again before taking a few bottles from the shelf and setting down not to far from me.
I shuffled a little closer to the basket and pick out some of the fruit that was there. Taking small bites as I watch her work on refilling the herbs that she had begun to get low on. We just sat together in silence as she did her work. Occasionally, I would interrupt her work to offer her a piece of fruit that she would take with a ghost of a smile.
Our attention is soon drawn to the entrance when Jake and Neytiri come walking in. I bit back a laugh as I take in the sight of Jake, dressed in the traditional clothing and covered in mud with a few cuts here and there.
Jake immediately stops in his tracks when he looks at me with wide eyes. "Where's your mask at?!"
"It's broken." I give him a small shrug before I look over at Neytiri. Watching as she went over to her mother and motioned for Jake to come closer and sit.
"What do you mean it's broken?! How are you not dead?!" He continued standing there in disbelief. Completely ignoring the small glare Neytiri was giving him.
"I'm special or something like that." I grab another few pieces of fruit from the basket and hold my hand out for Mo'at and Neytiri. Mo'at takes a piece before Neytiri does the same with a small nod of her head.
Jake just continues to stare in disbelief as he moves over to sit down. I pass him a piece of fruit before giving him a small pat on his shoulder.
"I see he is learning well," Mo'at comments as she passes some herbs over to Neytiri.
"He's a skxawng," she responded before she crushed the leaves into small flakes before moving to rub it into his cuts.
"What does that mean?" Jake looks at Neytiri, hoping she would explain. When she ignored him, Jake looked over to me with a confused look.
"It means you're an idiot." I give Jake a smug grin when I answer his question. Eating another piece of fruit before I glance over at the entrance. Tensing up when I see the Olo'eyktan and the man known as Tsu'tey walking towards us. Lowering my gaze, I lean towards Jake and whisper to him, "Now, try not to be an idiot and keep your mouth shut when they walk in."
Jake rolls his eyes before looking at the two warriors as they walked into the area. I glance up at the two with a small frown on my face. They both look at me and Jake for a second with guarded looks on their face. The Olo'eyktan soon shifts his gaze over to Mo'at with a knowing look on his face as he tilts his head slightly towards the entrance. She nods her head in return before standing up. Mo'at affectionately brushes some hair out of Neytiri's face with a smile. Then she turned to me and softly pats my head before walking down the tree with her mate.
Once they leave, I look back at Tsu'tey to see him already giving me a small glare. I give him an awkward smile which only makes him scowl even more. "Demon," was all he said before looking back at Jake with an even deeper scowl.
"Hey there buddy boy," Jake playfully quips back as he begins trying to wipe off some of the mud on his chest with his bare hands. Though he didn't do much other than just smear the mud around as he smiled like an idiot.
"Accident," he continued to scowl as he looked Jake over. Clearly unammused by Jake's joking attitude.
"Aw. I think he likes you Jake. You should give him a big hug to become friends." I have a grin on my face as I look between the two men. Taking notice of how Neytiri looked shocked by my suggestion one time as I glanced towards Jake.
"He raises a hand towards me, I will cut him," Tsu'tey speaks in a menacing way as he glared at me.
"I know," I laugh a little as I stare straight back at him. Biting my lip as I try not to grin like an idiot at the shocked look on Tsu'tey's face.
"Okay, (Y/n). Reel in the manic for a minute. I think you're freaking them out with your humanly sense of humor." Jake slightly pushes my head in order to bring me back to the moment.
I roll my eyes with a small pout before picking up another piece of fruit from the forgotten basket. Popping it in my mouth and slowly chewing. Looking at the woven floor as I finally mumble something pointed towards Jake, "Virgin."
"What did it call me?!" My eyes widen as Tsu'tey reaches down and grabbed ahold of the front of my shirt. A small scream coming out of my mouth as Jake and Neytiri both shoot up from their spots. Both trying their hardest to get between us and remove me from his grasp.
It had been a little over a month since Jake and I had gotten to Hometree. He had been training hard as a warrior while I learned more about the plant life from the clan healers. Everything was going well for us as time went on, despite the bad start that I had with Tsu'tey. Though he seemed to be convinced that I was in fact talking about Jake and not him after I explained a few human customs that were common among friends.
Jake even had enough approval within the clan that he was able to get Grace to be able to visit. She was shocked about the fact that I hadn't been wearing my mask since we had gotten there. But she was very happy that I was thriving in the environment like she had always wanted for me. She even told me that in another month, I might finally have a viable Avatar to use if I still wanted it even though I apparently could live without it.
But living amongst the Na'vi didn't mean that everything from my life before them stopped. Especially with my unique genetic makeup.
I went over to Jake as he ate breakfast with Neytiri and Tsu'tey. He looked over at me with a smile as I nervously sat down near the group. "Well good morning. You normally don't come and join our group until it's around time for lunch."
I fidget with my fingers as I look at the group, glancing at everyone until I focus on Jake again. "I need your help with something. And I'm only asking because your a good friend and I have to do this today."
Jake's expression becomes serious as he looks over at Neytiri and Tsu'tey. They both appear confused as well when they look at me for an explanation.
I look down at the ground as I bite my lip. My face heating up as I quickly tell them what was wrong. "I'm molting."
"That's it?" Jake seems in disbelief at what I told him. He even laughed a little as he leaned closer to try and get me to look at him again. "That's not too big of a deal. I'm sure you'll be okay."
I glare up at him as I stare him down. Taking a deep breath as I begin to further explain to him the situation. "It is a big deal. I can molt for multiple days sometimes, but I need to get as much taken care of the first day. If not, I could get infections and intense back pains that could last for months. And that's on top of the pain I can normally feel due to having wings."
The smile on his face faded away as I kept talking. His eyes becoming apologetic as he let's out a sigh. "I didn't know it was that big of a deal. Are you sure it has to be today?"
"I'm very sure. Once when I was in high school, I waited two days because I had to focus on studying for some stupid geometry final. When I finally got it taken care of, over half my feathers were gone, molted and perfectly healthy ones. It took months for them all to grow back and I couldn't even sit up in my bed without having someone help me for weeks."
Jake nods his head a little with a serious look in his eyes. "Tell me what you need help with."
"Thank you," I softly mumble as I sit with my back facing him. Slightly spreading my wings for him to have an easier time with helping me. I take a deep breath as I begin to lightly guide my fingers through the feathers. "You just basically brush them with your fingers and let the bad ones fall out. If there are any that are loose but not coming out yet, leave them be. They probably just need a little time to be ready."
It took a few moments, but I finally felt Jake start to work on the back of my wings. I could tell he was hesitant to do it because he didn't want to cause me any pain. As the time went on and I didn't tell him that it was hurting, he began to get a little more confident with each movement.
There was a decent amount of feathers laying around me when I took a small break to look around. Stopping my gaze when I noticed a group of children looking over at me from around a corner a little ways from us. Most of them a little older with what seemed to be their younger siblings. They kept pointing as they whispered to one another. But one little girl stood out as she just stared in awe while looking between the pile of feather and my face.
I smiled a little as I reached my hand out, gesturing for her to come closer. She seemed a little taken aback by my action, but soon smiled as she quickly walked over. She immediately sat down beside me, leaning against my body as she excitedly reached a hand up to touch one of my horns.
"Aen'ya!" Neytiri trys to scold the girl, but I raise my hand to let her know it was fine. Neytiri looked at me with a sympathetic like look. "She is very trusting. But she also still needs to learn to keep her space."
"She's okay. Kids back on Earth would do the same thing. I'm just glad one of the children is doing something other than just pointing from a distance." I smile at Aen'ya as I speak, happy to be a part of her child like excitement. I gently take her hand and she looks spooked by the contact. But she keeps smiling as I move her to sit on one of my legs and hand her some of my discarded feathers.
As she takes them out of my hand, I look back at the small group to see them all looking back in awe. I wave my hand at them to come join as Aen'ya starts to randomly place feathers into my hair. A few of them start to laugh as the excitedly push each other closer as a couple others run off in the opposite direction.
Soon the group comes and sits down closer by as they lightly reach out and touch my wings. They are extra gentle as they laugh with each little handful of fluff they managed to pull out. By the time they have their own little piles, the others that had run off return with their arms full of strings and a couple of baskets full of other little supplies to do whatever they had planned. Passing everything around as a few of them began to hold up a combination of beads they had to my skin with little giggles.
"Wow. You look like you got dragged into a second grade art class," Jake lightly snickered as he leaned back into his original spot once the kids took over for him to get a couple more feathers.
I make a face at him which causes the children to start laughing. But the seem to take his words as an invitation, because a couple of them grab his arms and pull him to sit on the ground. A couple even go the extra mile and do the same thing with Neytiri and Tsu'tey. Neytiri seemed happy with it as she began to help them with what they each were making. Tsu'tey most just sat there with a soft scowl on his face, but he would pay attention to any of the children if they held up something for him to look over.
We all just sit there laughing with one another as the children continue to work on their projects. But soon one of the boys grabs my arm to hold it still as two girls begin tying something around my bicep. I look at it confused until I realized that they had made me an accessory with beads and a couple of my feathers hanging down. Then a few others do the same thing as they tie an anklet on me with wide grins.
I take a look at both pieces of jewelry to see just how uniquely beautiful they were. Smiling as I open my arms out to pull each of them into a hug as a thank you. They all laugh as they begin to lean into my arms for one big hug.
A warm feeling came into my chest as I just held all the children close to me. Staring at each of them as a sense of peace washes over me. Similar to the feeling I had when I watched the movies when I was young. The feeling that I had finally found the place that I truly belong.
Hi everyone! I hope you enjoyed this little installment. I'm glad for my first request and I'm going to start working on a few other add ons for Silent Treatment and Aggressive Caregiver (I need a masterlist at some point). But have a good day and remember; We are bad bitches, and bad bitches follow boycotting to the fullest. Don't actively give any money to Disney for anything. We're smart and kind people who were raised on revolutions that Disney wrote. I'm sure we can pirate movies from someplace or have the DVDs for the movies. Do your part as best you can. I love you all and stay happy for the year to come.
Tumblr media
Running, running, running. You’re always running.
You don’t like running, hate it actually, but you have to find somewhere safe from their presence. Keigo and Dabi chase you around the penthouse like a deranged game of cat and mouse. It is absolutely awful. You’re out of breath, huffing and sweating as fear laces each droplet on your forehead. How disgraceful you must look compared to the pro hero and villain who don’t even seem that bothered from running around.
Finally, your body can’t take being chased anymore. You turn to Keigo with your hands out in front of you, trying to keep some distance. You have no idea where Dabi is, and that scares you the most.
“Stop it! I don’t want my wings clipped anymore!”
“You know we have to. It’s the only way I can make sure that you’re staying safe.” Keigo crosses his arms.
He’s not in the mood to be dealing with this but neither are you.
“You said I was perfect as I am. If you truly loved me, then why are you trying to change me? Please, let me have my feathers.”
He grimaces. His jaw clenching. Keigo doesn’t know what to say because on one hand, you do have a point. He loves your entire being. On the other, he’s controlling and protective.
“Let’s not make this any harder than it has to be. Okay?” His feathers rise in a threatening fashion.
Arms snake around your waist. You look down at the patchy forearms. You never hear Dabi come up behind you. Despite his clunky combat boots, he can be really stealthy at times.
“Quit throwing a tantrum, Doll Face. Let chicken wings clip ‘em, and then we’ll do something special after.”
“All you two ever do is try to control me, and I’m sick of it! Why does Keigo get to keep his feathers but I can’t?” You sniffle, trying to hold back passionate tears.
This ruffles Keigo’s scarlet feathers. “It’s not like that, babe. I’m a hero. I have to keep my feathers. If I don’t, people could die.”
“I saved a dog from being run over once,” you say as a pout forms on your face.
Keigo can’t help the small smile that crosses his features. “You sure did, Dove. Come on, we need to get this done. It’s getting late, and you need your bath after.”
“If you don’t cooperate, I could always just rip them out while I hold you down,” you hear Dabi whisper in your ear from behind you.
Your wings start flapping, trying to get him off of you. “No ripping! No ripping!” You’re still a little traumatized after the first few incidents of having your feathers plucked instead of clipped.
Dabi only holds you tighter.
Keigo puts his hands out, trying to calm you. “Chickadee, he didn’t mean it. Okay? We’re not going to rip out your feathers.”
You seem to calm down upon hearing his declaration. “You won’t?”
He nods and shares a look with Dabi. It seems as though they’re silently communicating about something, and you can’t help your rising stress over the situation.
A slight prick lingers on your thigh, and you hiss. Looking down, you watch Dabi remove a syringe.
“It’ll be alright, Doll Face. Since you didn’t want to cooperate, you’re not going to get that reward,” is the last thing you hear from Dabi as you go limp in his arms.
—————
When you wake up, you’re pissed because your feathers have been clipped. You want to scream, to sob at how unfair they treat you. Impulsively, you get up from the bed and throw a glass of water at the wall. It hurts that you can’t have one thing to control over your body, but at least you have mating season to look forward to.
DAEMON TARGARYEN.
Mini-Series.
You‘re The Only Thing That I Pray For -> completed
“You’re King Viserys oldest daughter, but it was Queen Alicent that has taken you under her wing, strengthening your very being with her own faith. All your prayers resolve around one thing, though a betrothal has already been made. But what if you want the opposite of your pious nature? You’ve been so faithful to the Seven, so it is only right they finally offer you something in return.“
One-Shots.
A Fine Line (between Love and Hate)
""I would rather feed my sons to the Dragons, than have them carry shields and cups for your drunken, usurper cunt of a King." Your husband’s words still lingered in the back of your head and drove you mad with fury."
Comfort
"You understand the Rogue Prince like no other, and so it’s your task to put his mind at ease again when he stumbles into the brothel."
Of Dragons and Wolves (x Cregan)
“You and your husband came to Dragonstone on behalf of your cousin Jacaerys, needing your help in the upcoming war of succession. However, you seem to be in need of something entirely different.”
Guileless
“The streets of Flea Bottom most definitely were not the place a noblewoman like you should seek out at night, but tonight marked one of the last nights you got to enjoy your freedom for you were to wed in four days.”
Don't Threaten Me with a Good Time and Detached from the Bothers of Life
"It’s clear as day that he’s merely using you as a means to an end, to satisfy the desperate need of having something he alone could control. Even after his older brother has conceded the executive chair to him, Viserys still gets involved to the point his younger brother truly doubts his leadership qualities. And if this is one way for him to cope with it, you certainly won’t complain."
Suspicious Silence
"Daemon was working from home today to take care of your daughter while you were out for brunch with Floris, his nephew’s wife that’s also winding down the halfway mark of pregnancy just like you. And although it’s around your toddler’s daytime nap time, it’s too quiet when you open the front door to your penthouse. Suspiciously quiet."
A Dragon to Share
"For a fortnight, you’ve been spending your nights with Aemond and Aegon. But what happens, if there’s yet another uncalled visitor joining you? Improper revelations lead to the fulfilling of a long-buried desire of yours."
Encouragement
“It's 105 AC. Your brother, King Viserys, wants to throw a feast in honor to announce his wife's pregnancy. You want to attend—if it weren't for the rising doubts about your changing body. But it's good your husband knows a way to ease your worries.“
Stress Relief
“Your hands lie folded in your lap, thumbs brushing over each other in a way to keep yourself calm. You have been married to Daemon for two summers, but know his silence never means anything good. It is threatening, and more often than not getting you into trouble, because he always has something to say.“
Heavy Is the Head That Wears the Crown
"You stand in front of the intimidating Iron Throne, reminiscing about all the times you’ve seen your father sitting on it. The heavy doors open behind you, but you don’t turn around, knowing all too well who intrudes the silence. “Skoros iksis ziry ao jeldan naejot ȳdragon naejot nyke nūmāzma?” you ask, but before you’re able to turn around, the weight of your husband’s chest against your back pushes you forward, the crown on your head toppling to the ground. What is it you wanted to talk to me about?"
Nocturnal Worship
“‘Expect me at the Hour of the Owl, sweet girl,’ he had said to you as your lesson ended. ‘And I shall teach you what is expected of you on your wedding night.’ And the sheepish nod and the blush on your cheeks let him know you truly endorsed it.“
EMERGENCY REQUEST
Hello, can i please put in an emergency request for either hawks or shoto (or even both, if it’s not too much trouble for you, it’s completely ok if it’s just one of them) comforting a fem reader through a breakup? I just got broken up with in the middle of exam season and it’s really taking a toll on me. The stress of it all is starting to make me question my self worth, and I don’t feel like I can even be mad at my ex, since he broke up in order to take care of his own mental health, citing that he didn’t feel like he was in a good place for a relationship right now. All of that plus the general melancholy and I can practically feel myself sliding back into bad habits and mental health issues when I thought I was making some progress. Sorry if this isn’t emergency request material. Thank you!
Hawks & Shoto with a friend after breakup
A/N: I'm truly sorry to hear that you're going through such a tough time, especially during exam season. It's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed and question your self-worth in the midst of all this. Taking care of your own mental health is crucial, and it's okay to prioritize yourself during this challenging period. If you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you. You're stronger than you think, and you'll get through this ♥
EMERGENCY REQS MASTERLIST
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You find yourself feeling lost and vulnerable after the breakup, struggling to cope with the sudden change in your life.
Hawks arrives at your doorstep after his shift, carrying the book you asked to borrow. Upon opening the door to greet him, he notices the somber look on your face, and the way your shoulders slump with exhaustion. "Hey there," Hawks greets you softly, his eyes filled with concern as he takes in your appearance. "I brought the book you wanted. Mind if I come in?"
You invite him inside, and Hawks settles down beside you on the couch, his wings folding neatly against his back. "You don't seem like yourself," he observes, reaching out to gently brush a strand of hair from your face. "Is everything okay, dove?"
Tears well up in your eyes as you recount the breakup, the weight of it all crashing down on you. "My boyfriend… He broke up with me… I just don't understand why this had to happen now, of all times," you admit, your voice trembling with emotion. "I felt everything was going well!"
Hawks wraps an arm around you, pulling you close as he offers a comforting embrace. "Oh, you poor, little birdie! I know it hurts right now," he claims, his voice a soothing presence in the midst of your turmoil. "But sometimes, you have to release those who don't value your feelings. It doesn't mean you're any less deserving of love or happiness."
Hawks, with his bird-like nature, wraps his wings around you, drawing you close as he massages your shoulders and shares stories about his day of hero work to distract you.
Yet whenever your mind wanders to negative thoughts about the painful event and tears start to fill your eyes, he quickly changes the subject. "Come on, dove, you're too beautiful to have tears on your face. Hush now, birdie. It hurts, but I promise it will get better."
Knowing your apartment almost as well as his own, Keigo heads to the kitchen to whip up something tasty for you, using ingredients from your fridge. Spotting some chicken, he opts to make rice with fried chicken and veggies, convinced that nothing lifts the spirits quite like a tasty piece of chicken.
After the meal, as your emotions begin to waver, you yawn, feeling sleepy.
Hawks lets you rest your head against his shoulder.
As you drift off to sleep in the arms of your friend, you find solace in the warmth of his presence, knowing that even in your darkest moments, you are never truly alone.
Tumblr media
The breakup hits you like a tidal wave, leaving you feeling adrift in a sea of uncertainty and despair.
During a patrol together, Shoto notices the tension in your body and the way your movements seem strained. He senses the heaviness in your heart, even though you try to hide it behind a forced smile. "Is everything alright?" Shoto asks quietly, his gaze gentle yet penetrating as he studies your expression. "You seem… off."
You hesitate at first, unsure whether to confide in him, but the concern in Shoto's eyes is enough to break down your walls. "I just went through a breakup," you admit, your voice barely above a whisper.
Instantly, Shoto's hand finds yours, his touch warm and reassuring as he squeezes it gently. "I'm sorry to hear that," he murmurs, his voice filled with empathy. "Breakups are never easy, I guess. I'm truly sorry to hear you're facing such difficulties," Shoto expresses, his eyes conveying empathy. "While I may not fully grasp the weight of the stress and sadness accompanying a breakup, having never experienced a relationship myself, I want you to remember that after every storm, there's a rainbow," he states, his gaze drifting to some distant point on the horizon.
You nod, unable to find the words to express the depth of your pain.
"It's okay to feel sad," he assures you, his hand reaching out to gently brush away your tears. "But don't let this breakup define you. You're stronger than you realize."
"I just don't know what to do," you admit, your voice trembling with emotion.
Shoto wraps his arm around your shoulders, pulling you close in a protective embrace. "You don't have to have all the answers right now," he claims. "I'll be here for you every step of the way, don't forget that," Todoroki reminds and gently ruffles your hair.
As the patrol continues, Shoto doesn't push you to talk about it further, knowing that sometimes, the comfort of a familiar presence is all you need.
As time passes, you notice the tension starting to ease away.
With Shoto by your side, you begin to feel a sense of peace settle over you, knowing that even in your darkest moments, you're not alone.
It was supposed to be a fun night all for you that was quickly ruined by your supposed best friend. Annie had always talked about others behind their backs no matter how many times your friend group told her to stop. She just wouldn’t listen.
You had stopped in the shadow of the doorway just before you could be seen by your two friends. In truth, Layla was probably your best friend. She was the one who helped Rhys plan your birthday party.
“Annie. I told you to stop, it’s her birthday.” She said in a stern tone that bordered on anger. Annie laughed in her face. “Oh come on miss priss. Don’t you think it’s weird? Like, are you really mates to three males? And what’s with the daddy nickname for them? That’s the weirdest part.”
Layla let out a sound of disgust. You didn’t stick around to hear the rest, not wanting to know if Layla was defending you or not. You walked off to another entrance to the ballroom. You just wanted to get through the night and lock yourself in your room.
Did your friends really think so low of you?
Before the party was truly over you slipped away, heading straight to your bedroom. You didn’t feel like sleeping with them tonight. Not since you couldn’t shake this weird feeling in your chest after you heard Annie’s opinions.
For days after you had been somewhat cold towards Rhys, Cass, and Az. You would still eat with them, train with them, and hang out. But you didn’t return their flirtatious behavior or any other moves.
You had closed your side of the bond and it made you feel sick. Like something inside you was broken and it would never be fixed. Like everything they’ve done for you has just disappeared.
You love them so much and you don’t want anything to change, but was Annie right? Three males maybe was too much. Maybe the Mother was wrong. But how could you pick just one of them. Would you have to let them all go?
A tap landed quickly on your shoulder and you jumped. Looking up you saw Azriel’s concerned face. You place a hand over your hammering heart as you let out a deep breath.
“Oh Az. It’s you. What’s wrong?” He shakes his head, “Nothing. I just felt your anxiety, is everything ok princess?” You froze up and shook your head no.
You meant to nod but part of you didn’t want to hide from the problem of feeling like a burden anymore. Azriel sat next to you on the couch, wrapping a wing around you for comfort.
“Whatever is bothering you princess you can tell me. I’ve noticed you’ve been distant lately. Is it about that?” You felt that all too familiar lump form in your throat. The tears forming on your lash line blurring your vision.
“Is…do you guys not like our relationship?” Azriel was taken aback by the question. What on earth would make you think that? “Not at all y/n. I love you and I love Rhys and Cass. We love you very much baby. What happened?”
At his gentle tone you broke down. Azriel scooped you into his lap, holding the back of your head as you cried into his shoulder.
You felt Rhys and Cassian’s presence before looking at them. Cassian sat next to Azriel and Rhys knelt in front of Az, lightly stroking your back. You pull away from Az to turn to Rhys. His face fell at the sight of your tear stained face.
“Oh darling. What’s upset you. Tell us and we’ll fix it.” You cover his hand that’s resting on your thigh and squeeze it for comfort. You closed your eyes reaching out Rhys in your mind to show him the memory of your “friends”.
They all stilled as Rhys replayed your memory for them. You could feel Azriel tense under you in anger. “Sweetheart look at me.” Cassian whispered. His large hands cradle your face as you look up at him.
“There is nothing wrong with you or this. You make us very happy baby, and who cares about Annie?” He was right. Your life doesn’t affect Annie and you wouldn’t let her have this power over you.
“You’re right daddy.” A wide grin broke out on Cassian’s face. He wiped away your stray tears with his thumbs. “There’s my baby.” Cass kissed the top of your nose.
Azriel and Rhys embraced you between them. “We will always be here for you darling.” Rhys whispered.
I would have killed a part of me to have you
part 1
note: this is a new series I'm playing with! no idea how it'll end up so. lock in ig
wc: 1k. tags: bkg x reader, fantasy/royal au, childhood friends to lovers (this is not the main focus though), king bkg/servant reader, immortal reader, infertility (because of the immortal thing)
Bakugou Katsuki is awarded the privilege of consistency—of waking up and knowing the natural progression of each day of his life. There will never be a surprise. He will live only to grow old—to be dotted on and made fat by adoration and excess and to die in much of the same way, after having fulfilled his duty to secure the continuation of his blood line. While his life is only a means to an end, he will come to know his reward with such handsome familiarity that he will forget there is no meaning in any of it. This ignorance, this nothingness, is his birthright.
It was, anyway.
It was unfortunate, the oversight that brought you into his life. Whether it was a rushed signature or a lazy finger point that pulled you from your own life and dropped you into his could never be known, but it’s for the fact that you were dropped at his feet that shattered any real hope for his life as it should’ve been.
And it was innocent, of course. Two fledglings figuring out which way to flap the wings to get tiny bodies up off the ground. There was quite a bit of fumbling and squawking and just as much horseplay that earned the pair an endeared eye roll from whatever handmaid had caught them that day. Bakugou was your friend—your first and only. And you got away with this friendship until you didn’t.
You were brought here to serve Bakugou and his future heir. You lived in blissful ignorance of this cruel fact until your twentieth birthday—it was then that you were reprimanded swiftly and harshly for years of childish behavior and reminded of your purpose here. You were reminded that you were created to bend to Bakugou’s every whim—there was no place for friendship in servitude.
And how cruelly that information came to both of them—to Bakugou, who thought he’d finally been given an opportunity to have someone witness his own humanity. To you, who thought you’d finally been given a safe person.
But there’s no stopping a notion once it’s been started and unfortunately for parliament, that silly childhood friendship had snowballed into something truly monstrous in the eyes of the crown.
The two of you loved each other.
It was easy enough to keep up a charade. Bakugou had a surprisingly good poker face and no one bothered to look at yours long enough to see what was written all over it. No one noticed every tiny brush of his thumb over the pulse in your wrist as he left a room, just like no one saw you creep into his chambers late in the night—the same way you’d creep out in the early hours of the morning. For ten years, this worked. Bakugou’s father passed as peacefully as any patriarch could have, and his succession meant that Bakugou was let off his leash, if only minutely. For ten years, you could keep your heart as intact as it could be. But on his thirtieth birthday, something changed.
Parliament was unhappy that Bakugou had not yet married. The crown needed an heir.
Between the two of you, Bakugou was firm in his decision that he’d bring no child into the world if it was not yours—even at thirty he was still so naive to how little say he had in his own life. He would create an heir—parliament made it clear that they would have one by any means. He could kick and scream all he wanted.
But there was, of course, the matter of the other thing.
You would never have children.
The only secret you'd ever kept from him—it was not so much as your hips proved baren that they were deprived of all means of making life altogether. Ten years and a day ago, maybe. But not now.
When you turned twenty, you were let in on another royal secret—it was no small coincidence that you were pulled from the squalor of your old life. Poor as you were, evidently you'd been rich in something else—your genetics. Something in your blood they knew to be optimal for continuing the royal line. Truthfully it'd been a godsent that they'd given you until your twentieth birthday. It was only because they'd needed time to discover the cure.
To time, to death, to life—whatever you called it, it stopped your heart and froze you in time. But something went wrong, and everything stopped. As did the flow of blood from between your legs every month.
You allowed parliament to believe the cure had worked, and you never said a word to Bakugou.
Not until now.
If you had a heartbeat, it'd be in your ears by now, as you raise a knuckle to tap softly on the thick oak of his bedroom door. Two taps, a pause, and then another. The same sequence you've done for the last twenty odd years. You find it strange that at thirty, you still feel like a child.
No sooner do you feel the reverberation of the final tap does the door swing open, giving way to the same broad chest you've been yanked into for the entirety of your life. You feel some grief in knowing that there will be an end to it, someday.
"And here I thought y'finally found y'r way out of my castle."
He holds you close—speaks his words softly and without any malice into your hair as he shuts the door behind you.
"Never, my lord," you tell him, and there is a truth in it that he will never know, "not ever."
fuck me ive been having brainrot
adam who flirts with his partner to watch their face go gold
(as a poc person he would adore it since gold looks amazing on us)
You've already read this but I had to turn that into a little something hehehehe
Gold is a divine color, luckily you're the most divine person to exist
pairing: Adam x male!reader
warnings: language & sexual tension
note: beta read by @drxgonspine
Tumblr media
Adam loved complimenting you, not only because it let you know how he thought of you, but also because the golden blush that always crept up your neck so easily until it reached your cheeks looked absolutely gorgeous on you.
When he had first figured out that the winner's blood was golden - a pure and divine color - he had thought of it as useless, unnecessary and a stupid decision made by God, because what was the point of changing somebody’s blood color anyways? But oh how that view on this changed when he met you - the most divine angel to walk heaven’s streets. He had never really put any thought into the fact that a changed blood color would also mean that the blush on the winner's skins would appear gold instead of red-pink ish.
But then he had flirted with you - at first it had been an act of getting your attention with no real meaning behind those words, he had flirted with plenty of people before. Yes, most of them had been women and yes, it was way harder for a dude - especially a dude like Adam - to hit on other men, but you? With you it felt so natural to be flirty.
“Sup Shawty,” he cockily grinned as he wrapped his arm around your shoulder lazily as if it had always meant to be that way, a slight golden blush spread on your cheeks, yet it was so light that the normal eye would have easily missed it if the person would not have been focusing on it.
Adam though, had been focusing on the beautiful blush - he had been for a while now. That was also why he knew that it was so easy to cause that blush to appear because even after years and years of being in a relationship, that was one thing that had never changed. “Shut up,” you mumbled as you turned your face away from the first man, your wing coming up to shield your side in order to block his view.
Adam was very much not having it though.
“No need to hide your handsome face, babes, I know what your ass looks like when it gets all flustered,” the stupidly cocky grin was not leaving his face for even the slightest moment, in fact it only grew as you raised your wing even more and ducked down your head to properly hide behind white feathers.
“Adam,” you hissed in an alarming tone, making it clear that he should better shut his mouth. Not that you were truly minding it, but you knew he was just teasing and you were having none of it, not when you desperately wanted your body to stop doing what it was doing giving Adam the pleasure he was seeking in seeing you blushing.
“Oh c’mon, we both know you like it,” the brunette leaned in as he effortlessly pushed your wing aside so that his lips were brushing against your ear as he continued to speak, “You’re such a handsome fucker, you should not hide behind those stupid feathers.”
The blush that had only been spreading on your cheeks at first was now slowly creeping down your neck, all the way down to the top of your chest, painting you in the most angelic color Adam was ever allowed to lay eyes onto. A golden tan was covering your skin, causing you to look pure - well, purer than you normally looked. “Fucking love it when ya get all flustered over some words,” he hummed in your ear, his voice suddenly sounding deeper than just a moment before - you were done. He had you exactly where he wanted you and he made it obvious that he would not back down, not when the golden flush looked so divine on you.
No, he wanted to keep that look on your skin for as long as possible. The fact that his words made you feel good about yourself was a nice side effect in his eyes.
You forcefully grabbed Adam by his collar, yanking him down further until he was on your eye level as you hissed, “Listen bitch, if you start something, you’ll fucking finish it, got that?” The grin on Adam’s lips remained and it was driving you insane in the best way possible. You were aware that his only goal was to watch you get flustered and blushy, but God knew he also loved to rile you up. A thing you could not deny: you were quite easy to rile up - at least for Adam because somehow that man knew exactly how to push your buttons and get you where he wants you. “Is that supposed to be a threat, hotstuff,” his lips were brushing against yours as he spoke, “Or is it an invitation?”
