Se karma é uma vadia, então eu deveria trocar de nome. E eu queria pedir desculpas a cada um dos sete corações que parti, em minha vida em retrospecto, por saber agora que essa dor de perda é algo válido e real. Mas nunca serei capaz disso, de fato. Aconteceu e eu queria dizer que sinto muito com honestidade, mas não me sinto assim de fato. Posso ter encontrado a retribuição astrológica para tudo o que fiz, mas… sabe. Shit happens.

Rael Davenport, aka o garoto das descobertas

Esperei até os meus 15 anos para começar a minha vida… ativa. Depois disso, nada mais me segurou, nem mesmo o pobre Rael. O coloquei em um sem número de situações embaraçosas, de ter que sair pelo telhado de minha casa usando meu moletom rosa de camurça a surgir com marcas de batom por todo seu uniforme de football no dia de um jogo importante, mesmo sendo expressamente proibida a entrada de garotas no vestiário masculino. Em algum momento, lembro dele dizer que seus sentimentos por mim eram verdadeiros, e pelo seu olhar, era bem sincero. Mas Rael foi uma novidade e quando essa sensação de “o novo” acabou… Parti para outra.

O problema é que parti enquanto ainda estava com ele.

Carl Bennett, aka o garoto da festa

Era verão. Geralmente essa é a minha justificativa quando esse assunto é tocado. Estava frente aos meus 16 anos, curiosa sobre outras pessoas, outras experiências. Então traí Rael em uma festa na casa de Bennett. E, de uma forma para justificar a traição, me tornei a namorada de Carl na sequência. Sim, algo tolo demais. Porém aos 16 anos, achava que teria que ser assim para valer a pena. Foi divertido, com todas as festas que frequentamos. Até que eu percebi que gostava mais das festas do que da presença dele. E aí foi hora de sair daquela relação.

Queria não ter feito na véspera do Natal, único arrependimento.

Suzana Mendes, aka a garota do tênis + Alan Faraday, aka o garoto do pólo + Pearl Swayze, aka a garota nova

Depois de toda a catástrofe que foi romper com Carl em uma data comemorativa, tentei me manter longe de problemas na área do romance. Sim, tentei. Não foi necessariamente o que eu tinha planejado viver aos meus 17 anos.

Então… Foi o estranho caso de “oh, eu posso fazer a ponte entre você e o tolinho que joga pólo, enquanto isso vamos dando uns pegas depois dos treinos de tênis aos quais você nunca falta”. Nunca pensei que Suzana ficaria tão apegada e grudenta, confirmando a teoria de que garotas são bem intensas em uma relação com outras garotas. Outra coisa que nunca pensei foi que Alan mandaria a frase “fico com sua amiga se você ficar comigo antes”. O que resultou comigo fazendo revezamento para manter todos os planos em dia, até que me senti exausta.

Foi onde Pearl, a garota nova no colégio, disse aos dois que não queria mais nada e que estava conhecendo alguém novo. Nenhum dos dois acreditou até me ver com Pearl em uma festa, no que eu chamaria de amasso bem forte e intenso. Suzana chorou, Alan ficou puto e Pearl muito deslocada. E decidi ali que já chegava, dos três. Too much drama.

Keri Bradshaw, aka a garota das duras verdades

Então, meu último ano foi tomado por dois momentos distintos, mas que se encaixam com perfeição. No começo do ano, entediada com a ida de Alexandra para um ano fora em intercâmbio, me joguei em outras atividades, entre elas o clube de debate. Eu era péssima em argumentos, mas ao menos lá conheci Keri. Começamos um relacionamento aos poucos, em uma calma que ainda não havia experimentado. A garota sabia o que queria, afinal, enquanto eu… Bem, eu gostava de festas e ocupar meu tempo com aleatoriedades. Foi por isso que a Bradshaw rompeu comigo, a primeira e única a fazer isso. Se eu não sabia levar nada a sério, como levaria nós duas, uma relação birracial de duas garotas, a sério? Foi difícil encarar seus olhos naquele momento; eu soube que o problema de meus relacionamentos era eu.

Matteo Contini, aka o garoto que mostrou o caminho

Depois de Keri, me joguei em um sem número de festas. Era meu senior year, minha admissão na Sourbonne era uma incógnita, ainda me sentia muito sozinha e eu fui àquela feira vocacional porque queria pelo menos fingir que me interessava em fazer algo na linha dos negócios da família enquanto nem pensava em fazer Bussiness School. Lá conheci minha última curva de aprendizado, também conhecido como Matteo. Ele estudava na UCLA, era seguro de si e tinha uma vida planejada, mas para depois. Primeiro iria viver intensamente os anos de universitário; e eu achei aquilo genial. Para quê viver a preocupação agora se podia fazê-lo depois? Estava tudo indo bem até Contini começar a me colocar como seus planos futuros. Talvez fosse o final da história maluca de um conto de fadas distorcido, mas não era a minha história. Eu rompi com ele, decentemente, antes da minha formatura.

O que me leva ao presente, ao agora. 19 anos, o coração entregue a alguém que se dispôs a viver o momento comigo, sem falar de futuro. Alguém que também queria sentir cada uma das emoções de se jovem e viver em uma cidades como Los Angeles. Mas o agora não existia mais sozinho. Também tinha o futuro, crescendo, criando corpo…

Dentro de mim.
