I just started the gauntlet of shar in act 2, and some of the walking around dialog has cemented Karlach x Gale as a ship I'd like to explore.

Please tell me I'm not the only one who thinks they'd be really cute together???

They both crave stable, caring love; they're both incredibly tender and loving. Karlach loves with all of her heart and soul and Gale matches that energy. They both have ticking time bombs that cause chronic pain. If they can't physically touch, Gale can always just Astral project them into some raunchy fun. They both understand what it's like to be used and betrayed by someone in a position of power they deeply respect.

God!gale can also fix her engine.

Why haven't I seen more art of them together??? Am I just not looking for it hard enough????

And wow, they're such a rarepair that I can't even find any screencaps of them together to illustrate this post! Guess I know now whom I'll be romancing in my upcoming Gale origin run. Need to figure out how to take screencaps and make gifsets and such.

I feel like Gale and Karlach could be a fun pairing in both an "opposites attract" way but also in a "if I had a nickle for every touch-starved Team Tadpole member facing imminent death from a bomb in their chest, I would have two nickles -- that's not a lot, but it's weird that there's two of them" way.

Given that one way to save Karlach is to have her volunteer to become an illithid, and Gale canonically is down to marry an illithid, they could actually live happily ever after together.

“Because, you know,” Karlach continued, “My body could burn you right up.” She drew a scorching finger across his shoulder to emphasize her point. To his credit, Gale didn’t even flinch. “I have to use certain… tools to be with my partners. And if they can’t be in me, well… Is that what you want me to do, Gale? To take you?” Karlach leaned down closer, now inches from his face. Gale licked his lips and slowly, deliberately nodded. Karlach grinned.

Karlach reached down and grabbed the base of her shaft with her thumb and forefinger, moving it slowly up and down. Gale’s head bobbed slightly as he tracked its movement unblinkingly.  Karlach’s breath caught at the sight of his lips parting, shining with his salivation. His shoulders were heaving with the heightened intensity of his breathing.

When Karlach finally spoke, her voice was low. 

“Show me.” She moved her hand slowly down its length, flicking the end with the pad of her thumb. All the while her eyes were on Gale’s, which widened slightly as they continued tracking the movement. “Show me what you would do.”

After a long moment, Gale finally tore his eyes from the member and met hers, his head moving in what might have been the ghost of a nod.

“On your knees.”

Gale didn’t hesitate. He didn’t break his eyes away as he slowly knelt, sinking down to one knee, and then bringing down the other. After a moment of settling, he slowly, deliberately dropped his jaw, mouth opening with a quiet pop . A pink tongue was pushing against his lower lip.

He knows exactly what to do. Karlach grinned down at him.

“Good boy.”

Gale moaned at the praise in a way that made Karlach swallow hard. He raised his chin, opening his mouth wider for her as he continued staring up at her, supplicant.

Like I’m something to worship , she thought.

Finally, she approached him, never letting go of her member. And when she was close enough, she moved the cool metal against him, gently guiding it to ghost over his left cheek, then his right. Gale’s eyelids fluttered, and he leaned his face into the cold metal with a shaky exhale, tongue chasing it as Karlach avoided putting it where he wanted it most: that dark, hot, wet mouth.

Gale whined with want, and Karlach finally acquiesced, positioning herself right in front of his lips.

Gale angled himself underneath, and licked a long strip up the underside of the shaft, keeping his eyes locked with Karlach’s. His tongue swirled the tip once, and then he was sheathing its full length into his mouth, cheeks hollowing, eyebrows knitting in concentration.  

Karlach imagined herself locking fingers through his hair, gripping a fistful of brown hair flecked with gray, and holding his mouth against her. She wanted to hold him against her, fuck into his mouth, and hear his pretty throat choking on her. She felt heat encase her as she pictured it. Her fingertips were twitching.

Lemme just mention some pairings I don't see as often:

Karlach x Gale.

I don't know what their ship name should be, but something to do with their hearts and the fact that they're dangerous because of the gods they served.

Godheart? HeartBomb? Bleedingheart doesn't fit enough. I don't know.

They would understand each other on another level because they both have bombs in their chests. They're both heavily monogamous, and if Gale can be convinced to become interested before Karlach is cured then he might be able to do something with magic instead of hands.

Karlach would want him in person as soon as she could, though. She wouldn't accept the astral projection, at least not at first. She's waited this long. She doesn't want to miss out.

She'd be thrilled to visit Waterdeep with him, I think. (I haven't seen the entire story.) She'd LOVE Tara.

He'd spoil her as much as he could, and you know he loves to see a badass in battle. They could bond over reading sometimes; she sometimes enjoys it and sometimes puts up with it fondly because she knows that's what he likes.

He might be able to put a spell on the books. She might start to handle them carefully, once she's able.

I don't think he's ever going to give up on finding a solution for her problem once he starts to care for her. He has his own, but he's fiercely devoted and very smart. He'll keep looking until he finds something or someone else does.

...I think I'm going to make this a series of posts instead of one big long post.

Get Loved, Idiots

One of my favourites is Astarion getting kicked out for being a vampire, so he goes and rescues Halsin himself, who sees him as a good person and joins him and Astarion gets loved into being the hero (feels safe enough to stop the mindset of only looking out for himself, and has Halsin gently encouraging him in the right direction).

The other is Astarion, Gale, and Karlach get kicked out for their undesirable diets and volatile bombs, and regroup together. They're super close and it usually devolves into Gale turning into a tiefling and his friends railing him to the feywild and back
