Maybe this is me, but I grew up in a city made from like, THEE biggest gold rush in North American history, so as a kid I DEEPLY hyperfixated on gold rushes and there's SO MUCH FUN STUFF TO PLAY WITH FANDOM-WISE.

YALL. THE KLONDIKE GOLD RUSH WAS SO INTERESTING AND COMPLICATED. DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD A PERSON HAD TO WORK TO GET THERE?

33 miles of BRUTAL trail, lugging a LITERAL METRIC TON OF SUPPLIES. LIKE. THEY LITERALLY DIDN'T LET YOU INTO CANADA IF YOU WEREN'T CARRYING A METRIC TON. So a journey people thought would take days took MONTHS, because you had to go one load at time, put it down after a few miles, and go back for the next load.

And the last stretch before hitting the Canadian border? THE GOLDEN STAIRCASE

BRUTAL 45 DEGREE ANGLE CLIMB. GET FUCKED.

Finish lugging your stuff up the top? Congrats, pay duties on your METRIC TON OF SHIT YOU HAULED, and then CUT AND STRIP LOGS TO BUILD A BOAT AND RAFT DAYS TO DAWSON, AS WINTER CLOSED IN AND ICE FILLED THE RIVER.

Goldie got to Dawson before Scrooge, who hiked the trail. Assuming Scrooge hit the road as soon as possible, unless you were very wealthy, this (and other much worse paths) was the only real way at the time. Women hiked it too, in short skirts with leather leggings underneath, or in mens' trousers.

Anyway, Goldie hiked the Chilkoot Pass. I've decided.

And once you got there? GOD there's so much cool history.

GOLDIE WAS A DANCE HALL GIRL.

Once the shows were done, they'd push all the chairs aside and the men would pay to dance with the women, waltzes and square dances and such. Of COURSE Scrooge would look down on that! It's not just a waste of money to pay to see a show, but to pay for a dance! Come on! He does go in when he strikes it rich, so like...

Idk, I've got a fic brewing in my docs somewhere of Scrooge and Goldie having to go to a miner's meeting, which was a little unofficial court held by the miners to deal with petty issues, (you wanted to go for other people, so they'd be there for you), and all the men get jumpscared by Glittering Goldie showing up next to the Scottish Reclusive Asshole, filthy and wearing his pants. Someday that'll happen.

ANYWAY I JUST REALLY LIKE DAWSON'S HISTORY ITS AND KLONDIKE SCROLDIE COULD BE SO MUCH MORE THAN A CABIN IN THE MOUNTAINS.

Goldie O Gilt was quite far from a prude. Seeing as she had lived a long life so far, it was only fitting how comfortable she was with her own nudity around others.

However, it was a little shocking to have Scrooge accidentally unlock her apartment door while she was topless, making the hen chuckle when she realized the identity of her intruder.

“Hey Sourdough. Sorry you caught me like this, I’m still getting changed for our date. I’m sure you don’t mind the view, do you?” She purred, currently bare chested with nothing to hide to him.

Scrooge McDuck and Goldie O'Gilt with their family - Duckverse - Gift for my friend

I know it's been a while, but I'd also like to wish a happy birthday to Glittering Goldie, which is usually March 1st, although she appeared in the Carl Barks comic "Back to the Klondike" written on September 18, 1952, and published on January 23, 1953 . years. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to draw an earlier dedication to Glittering Goldie's anniversary, but I did draw one as a gift for my friend who recently celebrated her birthday.

I drew Goldie O'Gilt as an old woman but wearing an old outfit from when she was a Klondike dancer and to impress Scrooge, I also drew Scrooge shyly looking forward to seeing his old love again. Next to them I drew Scrooge's nephew Donald Duck and his love Daisy Duck as well as Donald's nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck who they will see as their "grandma" Goldie, and there is Goldie's granddaughter Dickie, who supports her grandmother to be with Scrooge . Like a good family. And there is also a cake for the love couple Scroldie (Scrooge and Goldie). I mostly combined from Donald Duck comics in my own way. And this is my gift for my friend, dear @goldiejake11, who recently celebrated her birthday and I wish you a happy birthday and sorry for the delay!

Oh my gosh, thank you so much, that is the kindest thing ever and made my day! And I will NEVER be done with Klondike Scroldie 🥹. The answer is YES, and I actually have something for you tomorrow!

Also, a fun fact that nobody asked for, I found out recently I had not one but two ancestors who were Klondike miners, who hiked the Chilkoot Trail to Dawson. My grandmother asked if I knew what a sourdough was, and I was like…Yes, Nana, for two reasons…

#ahhh I’m so glad you guys are liking the lil human ducks #they’re my favorite #as a fun aside I’ve had a Klondike scroldie fic on the back burner for ages #I grew up in Sacramento so I was FASCINATED by gold rush history since I was a kid #and in the Klondike (while they DID have courts held on like boulders with random lawyers from the trail) the miners dealt with a lot of #issues themselves in Miners Meetings #where everyone in the area got together to settle disputes and you wanted to be there for other peoples’ so they’d be there for yours #and I have a WIP where Scrooge has to go to one with Goldie in tow #and they’re like ‘IS THAT…’ and she’s like yes I’m a miner wearing pants now pls continue #maybe I’ll finish it someday

You might not know what this is but I need to tell someone without sounding insane, Ronja Rövardotter ( Ronja Robber daughter and from the movie ) au byt its Klondike scroldie.

Lovis is Goldie, she’s a very chill parent, lets her daughter explore and do what she wants, she’s also very stubborn. Line from the movie “ I’ve always wanted to have a kid named Ronja” “ But what if you had a boy” “ If I wanted a kid named Ronja I’m going to have a kid named Ronja”

Mattis = Scrooge, The reaction he had when he had a daughter was adorable, and he’s very protective

Ronja = Any Scroldie daughter, very adventurous, independent and Loyal

Scrooge being a Robbers chief is like him being the richest duck ig I dunno I’m trying to make this make sense to other people
