Just got back from seeing The Boy and the Heron and its gorgeous (as expected) but right now my main thought is that Robert Pattinson NEEDS to do more voice acting, like I'm seriously so impressed he is completely unrecognizable in the film

"Haruo Nakajima is perhaps Japan’s most famous actor, but you wouldn’t necessarily recognize his face. That’s because from 1954 to 1972, he was the man inside the Godzilla costume for 12 consecutive films At 87 years old, many now consider Nakajima among the most iconic suit actors in film history. We caught up with the legend who gave life to the "King of the Monsters" to find out how he took on the challenge in the original groundbreaking movie" From Youtube channel Great Big Story: The Man Who Was Godzilla RIP Mr Nakajima...

MY STRAWBERRY FILM (2024, JAPAN)
THE (NOT SO) GRAND FINALE
Episode 8
The question. Was this a JBL (JAPANESE BL)?
Though I can compare it to some BL'S like THE BEST STORY where the BL portion of the program did not meet a satisfactory conclusion. Or I CANNOT REACH YOU that involves 2 Best Friends one harboring a crush and the other oblivious but I CANNOT REACH YOU did reach a satisfactory conclusion.
Back To My STRAWBERRY FILM this was a coming of age or maybe a story of self discovery more than it was a BL.
Good one though with Minami mother being in love with a female classmate. A classmate that is a teacher now but does that make this GL..decidedly no.
This story was missing something...oh I know it was the story. This was barely cohesive storytelling leaving viewers (or just me) confused. Did Ryo (FUKADA RYUSEI) confess to Hikaru (YABANA REI) on the stairs or get rejected? I mean that's what I thought I saw but this series left me drained. The slow burn, the lack of storytelling and the less than satisfying end.
I can say 2 good things came from this for me.
YOSHIDA MIZUKI as Chika. She was beautiful and amazing and delivered the best performance out of all.
And 2 was FUKADA RYUSEI because he has an amazing amount of potential. Given a good script and director he could be a huge star in any genre but I'd definitely like to see him in a JAPANESE BL.

Covers for a zine project that never got off the ground. The (overcomplicated) idea was to print the red front cover, cut out the rectangle up top to reveal the title printed on the first page. I used to work as a film reviewer and have like 50 J film write-ups waiting to go, but on the other hand, they're all so poorly written
