The colors !!! Im so happy with this skein. The yellow ply is the combing waste (carded into rolags as i went) from a ryå fleece I dyed with yellow onion skin, the other ply is a batt @mimsiical helped me make on their drum carder, and is a blend of merino, corriedale, jacob, silk, and probably some other stuff ive already forgot.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's 244 yards (223 meters) of maybe a heavy fingering weight. Didn't weigh it as my scale is under a bunch of other stuff
Also, got a picture of that miniskein that was ryå at one end and rambouillet at the other. Really happy with it, too !

Playtester AU is finally back after I had to spend forever focusing on essays for school!! Yay!!
First | Previous | Next (coming soon!)
This chapter took so long, but chapter 6 will probably take longer and I'm not prepared wjdheksj. Big thanks to the Inscryption discord server for beta reading a chunk of this fic to help me find the problems lmao, hope it's improved guys!
Also! Luke's Siblings are mentioned in this chapter, for reference his family is based vaugly off my own! But I figure it's good to have them down so you know who I'm talking about :]
In order from oldest to youngest!
Luke - 21
Carter - 19
Jacob - 17
Alyssa - 15
Jack + Abagail (twins) - 12
I do want to give credit to @shiocreator for letting me use the name Carter! It was her idea, and I just loved it so much I had to include it. Also, if you haven't read their Carder Siblings AU, what are you even doing?
While we're here, I'm also going to tell you to read @lemonzone 's Cabinet Man AU, I literally love it so much! Stolen my entire brain smh.
I am so happy I've got to meet both of these people and read their writing, as well as everyone else on the server! Y'all are so amazing and kind and this story wouldn't be what it is without you.
Anyways, that's all I've gotta say, hope you enjoy this chapter!
"Luuuke!"
It was Christmas morning.
That was the first thing that came back to Luke, maybe out of habit, since that’s all he focused on when he was younger. Truthfully, he was still just a kid on the inside. Or, perhaps, it was because he was hoping for something great this year.
Or, maybe, he was just trying to remember why the crowd of his younger siblings were here to wake him up at only 7:00 in the morning.
"Wake up!" Carter repeatedly chanted, holding a rolled piece of paper to his mouth like a megaphone.
Jack and Abagail had no hesitation jumping on Luke’s bed, making him sit up rapidly with a laugh.
Jacob and Alyssa stood aside Carter, chuckling to themselves as the twins stole a hug from Luke.
"I'm up, I'm up!" Luke managed with a giggle, ruffling his younger sister's hair. "Jeeze, real early this year, huh? Have you guys woken up mom and dad yet?"
Jacob shook his head. "We were waiting for you, sleepyhead!" He teased.
Luke sighed dramatically, falling back onto his bed. "oh no! Guess we can't get up, I'm going back to sleep!" He closed his eyes, much to the dismay of the twins.
"Come on, Luke!" Jack huffed. "It's Christmas!!"
Luke peeked one eye open, before laughing.
"Alright, but next year I get to sleep in! I'm an old man, I need my beauty rest." He said, swinging his legs out of bed before picking Jack up and putting him on his shoulders.
"You're only 20," Alyssa commented with a chuckle, looking up from her phone with a grin.
"I know, and I'm already an old man, guess what you'll be going through in 6 years!" Luke replied, ruffling his younger sister’s hair.
Carter rolled his eyes, as he began to lead the group into the hallway.
Luke's mind drifted to Christmas itself as they walked to wake up their parents - he probably had a lot of card packs underneath the tree. His channel had just exploded last month, and well, for card pack opening channels, there was a constant need to have more card packs.
Still, there was one thing he was really hoping was waiting down there for him - the new Tengu party game. Being an online game, it was the perfect way for Luke to keep playing games with his siblings while he was away at college.
Welp, guess he'd just have to find out for himself, watching Abagail tear through their parent’s door.
"Wake up, it's Christmas!"
It was summer again.
Luke's family always went on a summer vacation, usually something small in idea, but their mom had a tendency to splurge for her kids.
This year, they were out at a lake in a rental house. It was large enough for the family of 8, they had enough space and then more.
Past midnight, most of the family was asleep, but Luke and Carter had snuck out to go sit by the lake.
"It really is beautiful," Carter commented, gazing out across the ripping water. The lake wasn't huge, but far large enough for the kids to enjoy.
Luke nodded. "It is.. I'm glad I got to come. When I was younger, I figured mom would stop inviting me to these things when I turned 18."
Carter chuckled. "Like mom would ever do that! We love you, and she already misses you enough since you left for college."
"Same can be said for you!" Luke grinned. "I've heard Alyssa talking about it, she said mom missed you more than me."
"Now that's just a lie." Carter giggled, shoving at his older brother, not enough for him to end up in the lake though. Luke couldn't help but laugh, staring back out at the rippling water in silence.
There was a good 5 or so minutes of quiet before Carter spoke up again.
"Hey Luke?"
"Hm?" Luke ruffled his brother’s hair.
"How do you do it? Living alone in a new town, especially so close to the woods like that. Aren't you scared?"
"Not really." Luke shrugged. "I've got a big gate outside the house, and the only thing in those woods is crickets and deer. Most people wouldn't bother coming up the driveway, past the gate, and to my door to bother me. Plus, I've been thinking about getting a dog."
Carter chuckled. "Oh my god, we would visit so much more often if you had a dog. Please get one."
"This time I get to name it! Thank god" Luke grinned. They had a family dog named Crackers, named by the twins when they were little.
"Well, obviously you would get to name it, it would be your dog." Carter rolled his eyes. "But Crackers is a good name if you’re not dramatic."
The brothers took a moment to laugh, before Carter paused, frowning in thought.
"Actually, I brought that up because.. I've been thinking of switching degrees. Maybe even schools."
Luke blinked. "Wait, really?" Carter had been interested in biology his entire life, ranting and raging about all the discoveries he could make in the field. He'd never gotten a chance to explore it much before college, but from his determination, Luke would never have guessed that Carter wouldn’t love it.
"Yeah, actually. Bio just doesn't stick out like it used to, and there's so much I've found that I'm just.. squeamish about."
"Well, what degree are you thinking of?"
Carter paused, before shyly suggesting, ".. game development?"
Luke's eyes lit up, realizing quickly what his brother was implying. "Wait, are you saying you'd be coming to my school?" He felt himself grinning.
"I-If you're okay with it!" Carter said quickly.
Luke hugged his brother. "Of course I'm okay with it, You can even come live with me! A lot cheaper than the dorms."
Carter grinned. "Yeah, I'd like that!"
Luke sighed, looking out on the waves.
"Guess we've got a lot to plan for."
Carter nodded.
"Yeah, we do."
Luke woke with a start, sitting up quickly, only to find himself buried under some rather scratchy blankets. A soft surprised noise came from his right, and glancing over, he noticed Lone watching over him.
Oh right, Luke was in the final game he ever played, the cursed thing. Oh yeah, he was dead too! He put a hand to his head, squeezing his eyes shut.
He'd never see his family again, he'd never get to finish college, he'd just drop off the face of the earth. God.. how could this have happened? He should have never dug up this cursed game, much less played it. It should have stayed in the dirt.
The feeling of someone touching his hair startled Luke out of his thoughts. Lone flinched back, with a startled "sorry!"
The wizard was quite small, eyeing Luke fearfully yet curiously. Poor thing probably just wanted some stimulation, he must not have been out of his horrible situation for long.
Luke sighed, reaching over to pat the wizard on his head, which he seemed to enjoy immensely. After maybe a minute, Luke chuckled, pulling his hand back.
"Why did ya stick around here, bud?" Luke asked, pushing the uncomfortable blankets off him, only to notice he was laying on more. Did Magnificus have anything good for other people in this god-forsaken tower?
"P03 and the other scrybes asked me to watch over you!" He chirped, bouncing in place.
Luke nodded. "I see.. I assume they're probably fighting over something else now."
Lone gave an overdramatic shrug, with a half yelled “I’unno!” He fidgeted with his hands a lot, which made Luke wonder if Lone would prefer something to hold and mess with. Did they have Rubick cubes here? That seemed like something the small wizard would enjoy, not even to solve, but to mess with. He’d have to find out, give Lone something to do.
"I'm.. going to go find them. I need an explanation." Luke muttered softly, as if assuring himself.
"I'LL COME WITH!" Lone practically yelled, jumping up and down. It was an excitability that honesty reminded Luke of the twins. He smiled softly and genuinely, before offering Lone his hand.
"Alright, bud, we'll go and find them together!"
Lone continued to bounce excitedly, taking Luke's hand as the two began looking around for the scrybes, though Luke could guess where they were by the sounds of argument coming from above.
Up the stairs, to the top of the tower.
They were fighting.
Luke didn't know what else he was expecting.
Magnificus and P03 were shouting at each other from opposite sides of the circular room, looking about ready to brawl. Leshy and Grimora stood near the back, avoiding Magnificus' canvases, and apparently the two other scrybes. No one had noticed Luke in the doorway yet.
“I do not think jumping to conclusions is the best source of action here,” Mangnificus muttered, his voice steady yet with an accusatory tone.
“Jumping to conclusions?!” P03 countered. “I think it’s pretty damn obvious. Unless you have found a way for us to move forward without a challenger.”
“Hmm, perhaps not, but I still believe it is not unimaginable that there is something we can do. Something that doesn’t have irreparable side effects, such as your last idea.” The scrybe of magicks seemed to glare across the room.
"And what plan do you have?" P03 asked Magnificus accusatorially with almost a growl, as much as a robot could conceivably growl. “I have already attempted to connect with the servers of wherever we are, and it’s all locked down. If you all hadn’t stopped the Great Transcendence, we could all be out of this mess already!”
“Your ‘Great Transcendence’ was nothing more than a power show.” The bush wizard bit back. “Its failure was inevitable, you effete contraption.”
“Wow, insults again? That really helps your case, you blundering wizard. If y-”
Luke's babysitter instincts kicked in before he really had a chance to think about it, stepping in the room to get in between the two.
"Alright, enough." He said firmly.
This was treated with a great deal of surprise from everyone around the room, the scrybes taking a step back. Had Luke really just done that? Well, no way back now.
"You fighting clearly didn't get you guys anywhere before, and it won't now. If you want anything productive to happen, you all need to work together. No more power grabs, or arguments, or sly planning behind the scenes." He took a deep breath, noticing Grimora nodding with a sly smile. "But, after all that, I need a fucking explanation. *Especially* from you." He pointed to Grimora, whose smile dropped.
Luke was shaking. This was a lot to process, and he was shaking. Did he just treat the scrybes like his little siblings?
P03 and Magnificus glared at each other, neither wanting to relent. However, Grimora stepped in before either could open their mouths to bitch back at their surprise babysitter.
"I agree with Luke.” She said, her voice calming and steady. “Now, will the both of you please come over here? Enough with this pointless argument."
That got a grumbled "fine" from the scrybes, muttering under their breath what Luke could only imagine were curses much older than he was. The scrybes mostly kept their distance from one another, but now stood in a manageable circle.
Luke sighed.. thank god that worked. He went to stand alongside the edge of the circle, by the door. Admittedly, he didn’t quite like being in the spotlight, at least in real life.
As he went to stand near the doorway he had entered through, Luke noticed a mischievous Lone had started climbing onto everything around him and had begun poking at the candles lighting up the tower. Luke would have to make sure he grabbed the small wizard on his way out, not trusting Magnificus to make sure Lone didn’t burn himself to a crisp.
Luke took a deep breath, returning his attention to the scrybes, who were seemingly looking to him to start this ‘peaceful’ meeting. He took a deep breath, readying himself before speaking up.
"Alright. Let's talk."

A hand in play
Tumblr media
As trading card inspector settled in Southern Dakota, you are on your way to judge the symposium in your city, there have been some judgings that you've been unable to get to, but you're feeling fresh and in with the sport. The first thing you do is rearrange your trading card folder. It's a lot of work, but you figure you can make the most out of this time by getting all the information on your cards and putting them into one place. These cards you have accumulated as of the most newish seem to fly off the trading card stock, bloomingly. Well, you get to the symposium, and are quite surprised to find that Jacob is there. "Dude, I went to your house…you're here." "Been here the whole time, man. Didn't know you'd be here though. You like what you see?" You say "Some of these were downright from the last collection, friend" "Yeah, the last collection you had was a good one." Jacob grins, and continues to think for a second. "Oh yeah! Speaking of good ones…I got another one for you!" You say "oh yeah?" Jacob stands up and extends a folder, which you take. "It's about 90% complete. You in?" Your eyes widen "Hell yeah!" This is gonna be awesome! There's about a two page spread of the new collection, which you can't help but grin at as you flip through it. The images are all in color and crystal clear. You say "hey, Jacob, I've been meaning to tell you this, but I think I might have a world record in some of my newer cards.." Jacob looks up from the folder. "Yeah? Go on." You grin with anticipation "I've got the youngest person to own a katorm!" Jacob looks at you with surprise. You say "Yeah, and if that isn't overzealous enough I've also got the.." Jacob continues to look at you, with a surprised look. "The what?" You put on your best look of seriousness. "the Tallest man to own a katorm!" Jacob says "wow, that is really amazing. do you think that anybody besides me would truly care? Or would they just think I was just being arrogant." "I wouldn't be surprised if someone else has the same record, I was only able to get to like, 3 people taller than me before they stopped measuring. You say "well, let's get on down to the central seating" You look over the map once more, and make your decision. "Jacob, come on let's go see the new cafeteria!" as the two walk on down to the cafeteria, a moment strikes you when you waddle onto an ownerless folder of some cards. You pick it up and flip through the pages, some of which have missing images, but most are still there. Suddenly, you get that chills you always get when looking at some of the rarest, most valuable cards in the world. You say "holy shit, would you take a look at what I've just found!" Jacob is as impressed as you are amazed. "That's, that's insane! How the hell did you find a set of World Record folders?" You grin widely, as Jacob slowly opens the folder. "God, I can't believe it!" As Jacob reads through the folder, you continue to flip through the cards. "These are listed at 1,000,000,000,000 Valparasio Gold Coins." "Whoa." "That's not a misprint, that's real money!" Jacob begins to flip through the folder with you. you just decided to jump on out of there, even before someone else might see you, and attack your kingsly loot. You get to the next train, with haste. The two of you ride down to the next station, Jacob slowing down to make his way through the forest of people. You say "this is a really kingsly ransom. once you've owned it for more than a couple of minutes, you'll really get to cataloging it" Jacob grins from ear to ear. "I can't wait to come back here and see how much I've grown to have." You chuckle. "Well me too." You say: "but the foremostly me, Jacob, my dear friend" Jacob puts the folder in his pocket and continues to make his way through the crowd. "Well, we should get on down to the next station before it starts getting dark. You shrug your shoulders as the two of you make your way down to the next stop. Soon, the two of you are on the platform for the last stop on the line. A single light burns there, illuminating the shapes of the few people on the platform. "Well, this is it. our stop." Jacob says. "Yeah. I should get off here." You say "do note, not to take any of the come upping to another trading carder" Jacob seems a bit worried. "But why, why would I need to do that!" You raise an eyebrow, and lean in a little closer. You say: "because you want to" You lean in a little closer. "Because this is a really rare folder, and I've become the one to take it." Jacob looks down, shuffling his feet a bit. "Well.. okay." You nod your head slowly, as if to say 'thank you.' Then, you nod again. Soon enough, you were both at Jacob's place. You hopped out of the carriage, and waved it down the road. As you walk with Jacob towards his house, you find yourself twisting the folder in your hands. Looking it over, and over again. Truly the most happenstance day that you've had, and in equal parts most frightening and exciting. A rare feeling of happiness washes over you. "So, uhm…." Jacob begins, a bit nervously. "Do you mind if I ask what your plan is?" Well, I am immediately going to take some of the higher esteemed cards and exchange them for money. One by one, as I set footing into truly owning this collection. I plan to use it as my primary source of money, as I'm sure it will be for years to come. You show no signs of stress, as Jacob continues to speak. Then, you get to work. You begin selling the most prized cards slowly, making sure to always keep at least one of each batch. Then one by one the tale was told next to the several month inning, you were spending lavishly, and had more money than ever did you did have. You loosened up a bit at this. Then, you finally got around to selling your own collection. After a few weeks, you had made enough money to pay off your father's debt, and go off to further pursue your dreams of becoming a trader. On along, there was a symposium that came and left, but you were up to the right next one after that. Jacob in compliance. You stopped for a break at one of the rest stops along the way, and Jacob begins to do some sell in his left hand. "So.. ?" He looks up at you, smiling. You say "good trading day? Man, let me tell you, I've been having it flushed" Jacob laughs, raising his hand. "Nah, man. It's been alright. Some good, but some bad too. You'll see in a while." Backing a nack you were on to seeing the second presentation, and it turned out you were the second to present. You got up there and began to tell the crowd about the folder, exchanging glances with Jacob who gave you the 'get to work' glance at the right time. Sparing no expanse at relaying whatever it was about each card, but limiting yourself fully in accordance with having found this set at that time. It was a success, and the crowd loved it, giving you a loud round of applause when you were done. Next up it was Jacob's turn to get up and tell the crowd about his findings, and you couldn't help but feel a bit of anxiety as people listened with bated breath to what he had to say. He went up beaming, like you had done before you. "The files, a set of trading cards that have been around for more than a century, and we have found them!" He paused, looking around at the crowd. You say "Oh god, what has he done now!" "We have found the copy of the first bend set!" You heard someone in the crowd exclaim, and you saw Jacob jump a little. "Yeah!" You say "This was down to the nitty gritty what with this ole storymanship." Jacob looks at you briefly, before continuing. "We have found the first collection of trading cards, with the first bend set on them!" He's exclaiming it fully now, in direct inaccordance with what you have explained. "We have found the very first set of trading cards made for the sole purpose to be used as a part of a pack of playing cards!" You say "Oh no he has gone on and done it! Shit, we better get out hastily." Jacob nods. You say "This was Jacob fully explaining about the dastardly event we were meant to keep secret" Jacob pauses for a second, before smiling at you. "Told you it was all going to work out." You smile back, relieved that your friends confidence in you and his decision had paid off for him. Or so it was most to see…. "And now, I got something special for you guys." Jacob announces. You get the impression he's talking about more than just this find. "What is it?" You ask, as Jacob stands up. "You'll see in a minute." With that cryptic answer, Jacob makes his way off the stage, and towards the back of the room. "What's going on?" Someone asks. "Hush!" The man behind the desk says, looking around before standing up and walking towards the exit. The room is silent, as you begin to wonder what the hell Jacob has managed to find. You see a man walk onto the stage, and you frown, knowing who it is. "Hello." He says, looking out at the audience. There's an awkward silence, which you try to break. "Um, Harvey Kielling is here?" You say. "Yes, and correct you if you can." He smiles. Once more, this was down to the nitty gritty. Was he really the owner of the cards? It can't be. But then, he's been everywhere the cards have, and that includes London. He owns a store that specializes in them, and he has written books on the subject, at least two of which you've read. He will not ask for them back, as so it figures. You sigh in relief and say "Righto! That about does it, as you call for Jacob to leave." "Right!" You say, standing up. "I'll do the talking, you call for Harvey and tell him that we're leaving." Jacob nods nervously. "Right, I'll go get him." You nod, as Jacob quickly leaves the stage, and heads down the isle. You watch him go, before turning to look at the crowd of people watching you. They all seem to be enjoying themselves, but this does nothing but make you feel self-conscious. You look at the man who runs the museum, he's taking notes on a little pad, oblivious to what everyone else there is thinking. He spots you looking at him, and winks before returning to writing. You say "Say, is Jacob even going to amount to this plea." Jacob foots strongly toward Harvey, this was down to the lively wire. Once he had asked him for the cards, you had a decision to make: Help him, or let him take the fall and lie about how he came to have the cards. You had thought it through. Since you were up to it, these first ever set of trading cards were printed in at least a duplicate, so it'd take some guts to explain away. Jacob had a reputation for getting caught doing stuff by his parents, and this was no exception. He would lie, and claim he had found the cards, along with claiming you had stolen them. Well, he did. and as much bad luck as that was, it wasn't going to stop you. Jacob looked up at Harvey, who looked down at him, then back at you. "Harvey?" He says in a quavering tone. Harvey looked like he was going to go postal, but then gave a little smile. "Jacob, you scared me there." He chuckles. "Jacob, you snuck out of the house and came all this way here I caught you red handed with my cards. I think it's only natural to assume I'll press charges. But, since I am a nice guy, I'm going to let you give them back to me. Not right now though, I think you know what that means. Without me hearing a word, the two had their bargain up, to quote. You weren't exactly sure what was going to happen, Harvey had a very intimidating stare, but Jacob had no fear. Soon as Jacob came down around, he found it very explanatory to confess, but he rather held his pose. "Well" you said, "let's get on out while we still can." You take your leave of the museum, with Jacob hobbling along behind you, and soon as you were out in the open, you snapped him back. Snapped back the camarader. "How long till we get home?" You ask. Jacob thinks for a second at his answer. "Oh, about a hour and a half." Half an hour too right, and we were up to my station of the neighborhood. Now, who would have guessed it, besides Jacob, that Harvey Kielling was there in turn to accomplish setting down the feat of having his cards returned. Many of them you had sold already. But, in a little while you made it home, as the sun was beginning to lower. Then you gangplanked into him. Harvey Kielling in all his right. You say "So, is this going to come down to a fight, or a lawyer mess, both of which you would sorely lose?" You're a teenage delinquent that recently broke into the house of the rich kid, and you've stolen some really nice things… You make that your point right there. "Look," you say, "You make it sound like I don't have a choice." "You don't. But you sure do have a choice of how you're gonna do it." Hmm… Jacob looks at you. "You think you can handle him?" You think for a second. "Well… " You say "Yes." You nod your head. "Okay then, let's do it." Jacob nods slowly, but his smile returns and he grins. "Well then, let's go!" As you thunderbluss the old man, right there on the street corner, nothing had felt this right since bestowing most of the collection on Ebay. You had tackled the old man to the ground, and were in the process of snapping his neck when a voice from behind had stopped you. "What are you doing? Get off!" Jacob said. You spit on Harvey and get on up to your apartment. Like a nimble navigator unsurely getting back to his cocoon.. You were to return home. Harvey was not a trouble for the next week or two. He had then hired a cracker team of private eyes to find you. You never stayed at this place again, and whenever possible, you would stay out of the city or go someplace you have never been before. Ransoming were there to find you three days after you ran your first and only foreclosure operation. It was a one hit wonder. Harvey had gotten everything you had stolen back… And then some… In a dilated money pack, that was. You reminisce of that time at your friend's place. The night is still as black as the heart of the spider. Jacob finds that he has a chuckle or two to spare… You say "That there was the ransom. And I would've gotten to keep this sudden influx of new money, had you just not gone off and telling everybody back there at the colloquium. Which, I am in fact, not going to stick you with." "What?" Harvey says, looking at you. "I don't understand…" "Yeah you do," Jacob smiles. You say "Says it. No wonder" "Oh… Really?" You find yourself laughing out loud, and have to put your hands over your mouth to contain them. "What's so funny?" "That." You chuckle. You say "That, this whole thing. Saved by an Ebay bid. It's comic." Jacob shakes his head and mutters to himself, "So, it seems." That your friend finds himself a bit more at ease in this encounter says it all. Done was it.

Ok, I’m throwing this out there because I’m sure someone is gonna ask.
“Shanie? What do you mean ‘Superstars for decades? Everyone who sticks around long enough usually gets their shot!” Kane. I’m talking about Kane. AKA Glen Jacobs.
For starters, I’m gonna throw some numbers out there.
Combined Universal Title Reign Length of Brock Lesner: 584 days
Combined WWE Championship Reign Length of Kane: 1 fucking day.
Now, I know you are gonna say “Shanie! Kane held the World Heavyweight Championship for 154 days! What about that.” I’m getting there.
Yes Kane is a Grand Slam Champion. Yes he is both considered a Legend and an upper mid carder/former main eventer. But, if you REALLY LOOK at what he has been handed in terms of storyline and general raw goods to work with over the years some very uncomfortable truths start coming out.
Kane hold the record for 1. Most Royal Rumble Eliminations (Although he’s never won), 2. Most PPV Matches of any WWE Superstar in History, and 3. Most “Wins” ever for the PWI Award of “Worst Feud of the Year”.
Looking at these facts alone, you start to get the idea that this is a man who has worked harder than anyone else there, but has been drowning in SHIT for most of his career. When his Kane Gimmick debuted, he was a monster in more ways than one. It was awesome. He was a huge part of the Attitude Era. Then... BADASS DECAY occurred. Starting with the concept of giving him a Love Interest in Chyna, and continuing with having him speak unassisted (His first words BTW were “Suck It”) and just everything turning to shit from there. Things started happening like the Katie Vick angle and the abomination that was his feud with Shane, the highlight of which was him actually attempting to STERILIZE SHANE WITH A CAR BATTERY. The character never recovered and has been basically one long running joke since 2002. And now I’m sure you are saying “A character like ‘the big red machine’ can’t sustain itself for decades” and you are right. But look at his “Brother” the Undertaker. ‘Taker’s character has evolved constantly over the years, always managing to stay relevant, but NEVER being turned into a joke. And it gets worse. I’ve heard people say “Well ‘Taker only succeeded because of Paul Bearer.” Guys. Paul Bearer was literally (storyline) Kane’s FATHER. Yes, when Kane was with Paul, he was really rather over with fans. But Undertaker LITERALLY Outlived Paul Bearer and Kane, if he had been given the same respect and treatment, could have as well.
The fact that they gave him a World Title Reign in 2010 is almost like a booby prize for the guy at this point. Honestly, I don’t blame the guy for leaving the WWE for a career in Professional Bullshit (politics). This guy has been swimming in bullshit for 20 years he might as well get some respect for smelling of it.
TL:DR - Kane gave almost a quarter of a century to the WWE, got covered in shit for his troubles, and deserves that Universal Title a billion times more than Bork ever did.
