Here’s an idea, Warner Bros. Discovery
resienseRemember when Animal Planet aired a bunch of documentaries that were not real?
There was a really good one, about Dragons, and then there were the other ones that caused like a shit storm.
if a remember correctly, there was one about Megalodon, and then some follow ups that showed on Shark Week. Then there was one about Mermaids which also had a follow up, and the there was one about Cannibals in the Jungle, where there was a tribe of hobbits that had killed tour guide and an American scientist, and the third guy with them was put into jail.
Now, misinformation and deceit aside, i think these were great little thought experiments. And looking at the manner in which streaming movies are taking off, and how cheap it is to produce these kind of things, wouldn’t be great if they followed the map made by The Last Dragon and do a series of films in the form of fictional documentaries on these things? I mean they said they would stop, and they clearly aren’t, and the Megalodon documentary pulled in like a butt load of viewers, so you know it works.
What i am saying is: make a series of obviously fake documentaries (or hell, full fledged movies) about a world where these documentaries are actually true! like hell yeah Dragons went extinct and now universities are scrambling to recover  remains for their museums and study. The Government is trying to cover up the existence of Mermaids. Megalodons have been lurking in the seas, still extant. And there are uncontacted cannibalistic tribes in the hear of the forest that are actually an isolated tribe of Homo Floresiensis.
You are telling me an Indian-Jones-meets-the-Mummy-meets-the-Monsterverse type franchise around these ideas won’t work? Get on this Discovery (and for god’s sake make sure you tell your audiences it’s fictional this time)

Please don’t hate me, I truly believe we’ll #SaveStation19 and I won’t stop fighting until that day comes!! But in the meantime we have to say goodbye, so I had to do this… you know, just in case 😬🫣

My goose adventure, today, began with a familiar orange bill. This is the very same farm goose who was with the creche I saw earlier in the summer. Only, she was all alone beneath this pier, today. It broke my heart. She must have been ejected or something. She's all alone in this world. I just wanna pick her up and hug her.
Tumblr media
I did eventually find the creche in Tanner Park. They had one sentry on duty, and he did his job very well while the other feasted.
Tumblr media
Illustrated nicely here.

He even yawned for me!!

Her parents wander over to guide her back to the grass, or perhaps to watch over her.

The sun came out!

Many of the geese decided it was time for a rest. Unfortunately afterwards, some people walked by with a full-grown german shepherd, and set them all on high alert. No rest for these geese until the sentries give the all-clear. I decided that I should likewise leave, it seems their life is stressful enough, though they did get comfortable enough to get close to me.

That plot point about some of Jack's matches being rigged also makes me think if his matches against Himuro and Enjo were also rigged
It's an interesting thing to wonder about for sure. However, I feel like with those two, cases can be made that they weren't forced to lose on purpose based on their personalities and appearances in the show.
For Himuro/Tanner, we know he was the champion before Jack, and we know that losing to this young upstart utterly crushed his spirit. And I personally think that defeat would not have been as harrowing (to the point of driving him into underground duelling and drinking) had it not been real. The part that makes Jack's victory so soul-crushing to Himuro/Tanner is that it was real, I think, and that it was fairly decisive, at that, which he did not expect after apparently having held the champion title for a good while himself.
Then we've got Enjo Mukuro/Hunter Pace, who, if his multiple appearances during the Fortune Cup are anything to go by, seems to have made a habit of challenging Jack multiple times in order to get his title. And you could make a case for that being an elaborate show-gag on Goodwin's part to introduce some sort of reoccurring rival who's always set to lose on purpose, anyway, but you know what kind of speaks against it for me? Enjo's duel against Yusei in the Fortune Cup. This guy is so fired up to try to beat Jack, in a way that I think would be hard to fake.
Plus, there's also something to be said about how the show presents their characters. Through their interactions with Yusei, we see that both of them really value duelling and their pride as duellists. And we get nothing that indicates they might have had a reason to "give up their duellist's pride" by losing against Jack on purpose, like Dragan did because he needed the money for his father's recovery. And I doubt Goodwin could have rigged their duels against Jack without them being in on it somehow, which I simply can't see them agreeing to from a personality standpoint.
That said, I could absolutely see someone taking his idea further in a fic and introducing elements that do force Himuro and/or Enjo to lose their matches on purpose, further undermining Jack's king status and throwing into question whether he ever honestly earned it in the first place. I think it would make for a compelling personal crisis on Jack's end. (Though I'm also perfectly fine with how the show handles that part tbh. Letting him beat Dragan for real and salvaging his pride makes this a good, self-contained mini-plotline imo.)

Thinking about the concept of the punishment resurrection
And yes, I know Fergus was a tailor, but his mother was the tanner's daughter. And in a game of werewolf/mafia, the tanner only wins if he dies. There's something to Rowena and Crowley being unkillable, choosing their "real and permanent deaths" very carefully.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I do think the whole (cut line) “Even when I lose, I win!” is about this tanner role.
(The narrative "tanner" hates the job.)
By the end, Crowley has no family ties, not even Rowena. Liike Raphael, he "just wants it to be over" and has devolved to pure nihilism.
Contrast to AU Kevin Tran, who is Crowley-adjacent (ambition to be President, whip-smart, son of a single mom...and also GAVIN-coded)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
13x20
"I just want it to be over."
"Even if you win, you still lose."
That's because for human beings (not just vampires, werewolves), losing family members is almost never worth the cost of war. (War indeed is the domain of the "village" mob's war, searching for scapegoats and trying to champion a Cause at all costs).
///
EDIT: Crowley's threat is so interesting. This aspect of his story has been with us since very early.

Man and Superman is one of those works where I kinda feel like it was just made for me to enjoy, and I think the most significant example of this is that not just do I love all the characters and their roles in the story, but it has characters based on almost all of the DG characters I like (as main characters, nonetheless!) and none of the characters or subplots I don't care about.

not a single person cares but unfortunately I’m hyperfixated so that won’t stop me posting the last binding writing <33
basically I wanted to draw this concept, did not have the ability and remembered I’m also a writer and should write smaller things more <3
There’s an old house, out in the English countryside. It’s surrounded by sprawling land, dominated by creeping vines that infest cracks and dust that has settled into the air itself. There’s a beehive and a garden and a tree on a hill and something about those three things hangs in the air like a myth fighting desperately to not be forgotten.
The house belongs to someone. Someone who inherited it from someone else, who tries to look after it like it was looked after in days gone by but the house is large and the time for such manors long past. It’s a memory, a creature trapped in amber and if you listen closely, sometimes you can hear it’s heartbeat still.
The house has stories, like every good house does. Stories about frozen lakes and the way magic used to be and about faeries and bizarre things that can’t possibly be true. Names are attached to the stories, but they’re impersonal. Dusty words with nothing but the ghost of a breath and a laugh, if you’re still listening close enough.
The house has an attic. The attic holds life, the way it used to be. There’s a walking stick and some journals, books with faded scribbles down the margin, old waistcoats and shirts that have managed to survive for so long untouched. There’s a box in that attic too. A box that holds photographs and the someone who owns the house know will find them someday, sitting back on their heels in the old attic of an old house and maybe they’ll smile at what they see.
The first photograph might have been black and white once, but it’s faded to a sickly sort of yellow, edged with the brown of a bruise. It shows two young women in the middle of four men. It’s as impersonal as the names given to the stories. On turning it over, the someone will find a note written in a carefully swooping hand.
Sir R. Blyth, Mr E. Courcey, Miss M. Maud, Miss V. Debenham, Lord J. Hawthorn, Mr A. Ross, 1910
The names won’t mean very much. Each individual looks hardly different than the last, though the man identified as Sir R. Blyth has the same round face and twinkling eyes as the Miss M. Maud. Siblings perhaps, though it’s hard to think of such a thing existing so long ago. The man on the left - Mr A. Ross, according to the note - is an odd one out, with the way his clothes are patched and his grin slants. Mr E. Courcey is faded of colour, the Lord so stern he must not be a real person.
These aren’t real people, the someone will think as they brush their thumb over the faded image. Too stiff, too emotionless. They didn’t live and breath here, did they? They can’t have. Nothing but letters that form names and ink that forms faces.
The second photograph is different. It’s tucked into the bottom of the box, almost like it wants to remain unnoticed. It’s not different at first glance; still faded and bruised, taken at the same time as the first image but it’s different nonetheless.
The colourless man has more of a smile, the Sir R. Blyth gazing at him like he’s forgotten about the camera entirely. One arm loops around his waist where before a distinct gap existed between them. Next to them, Miss M. Blyth is pressing a kiss to the cheek of the other young woman, who’s mouth is open not in a smile but in a laugh, a hand fluttering over her chest. Next comes the unpleasant looking Lord, who’s mouth has been pulled up as though on a string. One of his hands rests on the shoulder of the Mr A. Ross - he in return is scowling up, arm raised mid swat but something about it lacks venom.
There’s writing on the back of this photograph too:
Robin and Edwin, Maud and Violet, Alan and Jack, 1910
Maybe they’re smiling at whoever took the picture. At a comment made or face pulled, the way you might encourage a smile from a child. There’s comfort in this image, trust, care and it breathes life into the coolness of the attic. It makes the someone think. About arms around waists and kisses on cheeks and the stories that got lost instead of told, hidden in the bottom of boxes at the back of attics.
There’s something sad about that, in a poetic way. Something close to tragic, but the stories don’t have just have names anymore. They have faces, have the hints of lives and if they can only be seen this way, in light filtered through a dusty attic window then the someone will hope that that’s good enough for them.
For the man called Robin, who must see the stars themselves in the one called Edwin. For the dimpled young Maud and the way the woman called Violet is laughing like she’s made up of scraps of the sun. For Alan - the odd one out - who scowls like he’s trying to decipher the way the moon is shining through the Lord with such a boyish name as Jack.
They’ll tuck the picture into their pocket and hope against hope that it’s good enough for them.

Station 19: season 1
After watching the pilot, I wasn’t planning to rewatch the whole first season but then I got hooked when I remembered why I loved Maya from day one, and how badass Vic is (or used to be), and how the fires and rescues used to be so much better, and how the characters had better storylines that wasn’t all about relationship drama. So now I’ve watched all but the season finale (which will get its own post once I’ve watched it).
- The call outs were so good – the blue fire, the car stuck under a utility pole, the strip mall, the bus crash, getting trapped in the garage. Everything feels so tame by comparison these days. Even if there’s no budget for big fires, they can come up with some interesting rescues that add to the story. The show has become way too focussed on personal drama, whereas season 1 had a much better balance, I think.
- I love seeing where Maya started from to where she was by the end of season 4. (Yes, I’m ignoring season 5.) Embrace the pain, eyes forward, take the power; championing Andy to become captain – and seeing the start of her drive to become lieutenant and then captain. Also seeing her help Vic get over her fear of fire, pushing her too hard and in the wrong way because she always had that way of treating someone as she had been treated, rather than treating them as they needed. She’s always such a badass on callouts too - as annoyed as I am about the demotion, there’s a reason I love seeing her on the ground instead of co-ordinating.
- On a personal note, can we have more scenes of Maya eating strawberries like in 1x06? (Is there a gif of that moment? I need one!)
- I’d forgotten that Pruitt had promoted Andy to lieutenant so that she had a chance of taking over as captain. She has moments of brilliance in the first season, but she’s also a mess at times – letting her relationship with Jack affect her job, ignoring the mayday call during the incinerator trial. You can see how much she has grown into the captain role in season 5, when she clearly wasn’t ready in season 1. That said, they did her dirty in episode 8 – stopping to help the victims of the bus crash was the right thing to do and saved lives, the fact that Jack left a patient alone in the back of a stocked Aid Car (against Andy’s orders) was his fault and nothing to do with Andy not following protocol.
- It's hard to see Maya and Andy’s relationship without being reminded of the bts drama that has affected their screentime together these days, but they really do bounce off each other so well (ignoring their silly fight when Andy told Maya to back off and Maya overreacted). But ultimately they want what’s best for each other – Maya is always pushing Andy to be captain and Andy is the first to tell Maya to apply for lieutenant. I hate the way the show keeps pitching women against each other instead of making sure they have each other’s backs.
- Ah Mason. A brief appearance in two episodes and so many of us still hope that one day you’ll return one day! But seriously, when…?
- It still annoys me that they’ve forgotten that Jack had been lieutenant for longer than Andy and Maya, and was a serious contender for captain in season 1 – but now he gets overlooked any time someone needs to step up. Why wasn’t he promoted to captain in season 5 instead of bringing in Beckett? (Answer = plot device.)
- Vic was amazing in season 1 – running drills and teaching Ben, her friendship with Travis, generally being light and fun but also seeing her arc as she overcomes her fear of fire. Remember when she asked Andy and Jack who they’d save first in a fire when they were sleeping together, and now no-one cares that a firefighter is sleeping with a lieutenant?!
- I love how Travis is opinionated and will always say what he thinks. I feel like he’s been the most consistent character over the last five seasons – apart from the relationship drama with Emmett in season 5 that drove me crazy! Travis and Grant were such a great pair, they had great chemistry and I wish that had lasted for longer.
- Oh, I miss Dean! He and JJ were a disaster from the start. I’d forgotten how he’d struggled to keep up with her lifestyle, got too tired and was the reason the team ended up locked inside the garage of a burning house.
- Considering Ben was the link between Grey’s and Station 19, he’s always been underwhelming for me. The best thing about him is his relationship with Bailey, to be honest, and I love how they involved her in the show. It’s interesting to see her berate him for not telling her about the job and the scary stuff they do, knowing that when he does she ends up having heart problems and leads to them splitting up for a while.
- Ryan feels superfluous. He’s sweet but he’s really only there to prop up Andy’s storylines. I did like the friendship between him and Maya.
- I both love Pruitt but also find him annoying sometimes - especially when he’s condescending. There are several scenes in the season when he and Andy are talking about Andy’s mom, and I’d love to know if it was always in the back of their minds that she was still alive or if that was a curveball that Krista introduced when she took over as showrunner.
Does anyone else feel nostalgia for the early seasons?

EPILOGUE
One Month Later
A Certain Private Fishing Cabin
The fire over which they had cooked the fish Jack caught was mellowing. A cool breeze drifted through the valley from the mountains and the river waters babbled softly in the hush of the advancing evening.
Jack and Lisa sat together on the porch, enjoying the surrounding scenery while they sipped some French wine sent by Aunt Evelyn.
This getaway had been a long time coming, and both were simply happy to be in each other's presence without any distractions or worries.
"What a beautiful evening," Lisa said, leaning her head against Jack's shoulder. "I'm so glad we came out here together."
"Me, too," Jack said. Neither wanted to rehash what happened the last time he ventured out to the cabin alone.
"When you brought me out here that first time, I thought I'd found a piece of heaven," Lisa remarked.
"I remember," Jack said with a smile. "And here we are again, all these years later."
"And it's still a piece of heaven," she said. "I don't think we could get any closer if we tried. My happiness is complete."
"Well, now that you mention complete happiness..." Jack said enigmatically. "There's something I want to show you."
Lisa raised her head from his shoulder. Jack reached into his jeans pocket to pull something from it. A memory stirred in Lisa's mind from the winter evening when a similar motion took place. Back then, Jack had withdrawn a padded pink velvet-covered box to reveal an antique ring that once belonged to his grandmother. Lisa looked now to see a small, square leather pouch resting in his palm.
"What is it?" she asked when he did not utter anything further.
Instead of answering verbally, Jack fished inside the pouch to reveal a shiny, solid gold band—too big for her to wear, she knew right away from its size.
"Take it," Jack said simply.
Gingerly, Lisa reached for it, however puzzled she was, and asked: "What's this for?" He certainly could not be making another marriage proposal; that would be redundant at this point.
Jack stretched out his left hand towards her, splaying his calloused fingers. "Lis, I know you were disappointed when we got married that I didn't want to wear a wedding ring..."
Instant tears sprang to her eyes in understanding of what this meant. "Jack..." A tiny sniffle escaped and a large smile broke out onto her face as she slipped the band onto his ring finger.
"I love you, and I love being married to you," Jack said. "I'm sorry I was too stuck in my ways to add this little piece to our life together."
"And I have something for you, too," Lisa said, brushing aside a tear that had escaped.
"Oh, do you?" Jack asked. "Would this have anything to do with your visit with your legal counsel a little while ago?"
Lisa's lips twitched into a smile. "Why yes, it would, Mr. Bartlett," she answered. "I spoke with my lawyer about some very important things during that visit, which included updating my will and business affairs, but that's another topic for another time."
"Hmm..." Jack hummed, knowing Dan's involvement in her business life was now a thing of the past, thank goodness.
"Jack, I've proudly carried the Stillman name my whole life. I love my name and my family heritage. But you are my family, Jack. You, Lou, Amy, Tim, Ty, Peter, Georgie, Katie and Lyndy—all of you have welcomed me into your home and into your hearts. I don't want to be 'Lisa Stillman' anymore, so I've made a little change."
"You have?" Jack said, elation bubbling up within, sensing, but not quite believing what Lisa was hinting at.
"I wanted to save this surprise for a little later in our vacation, but now is as good a time as any. I want to announce I am now officially 'Lisa Bartlett'," she said, reaching into her shoulder bag to pull out a manila business envelope. She withdrew a document declaring that legal change. "How does that sound to you?"
"I think... I think it sounds like the best thing I have heard in a very, very long time," a beaming Jack replied, looking at the document. "Mrs. Bartlett."
He gathered her into his arms and their lips met in a deep, perfect kiss.
"I love you, Mrs. Bartlett," he whispered when they at last parted.
"I love you more, Mr. Bartlett," she whispered back with her customary response, leaning in for another kiss.
Jack did not argue the point, as he was fairly certain their love for each other burned with equal intensities, and would for the rest of their lives together as husband and wife.
Addendum:
It would come out during Chief Parker's team's investigation that the tiny Raven MP-25 Jesse fired at Lisa, recovered in the barn after Jesse tried to shoot Ty, had been registered to Val Stanton. It was a weapon she had purchased following the death of her husband for the purpose of personal protection while at Briar Ridge.
Thanks to the eyewitness account of "the man in Cabin Two" burning something in the firepit the night of the second attempt on Lisa's life, the forensics team found traces of fabric among the ashes and debris which matched the cotton-polyester blend commonly used in some hospital scrubs.
Prior to re-opening the Dude Ranch for business, Lou permitted the Chief's team to conduct a final sweep of the area, as one piece of the puzzle remained elusive. It took nearly four hours of searching, but the investigators finally found what they were seeking: the motorcycle Earl McCann fled on when eluding capture at the hospital. After his failed attempt at killing Lisa, the cops surmised McCann rode back to the vicinity of the Dude Ranch, secreted the bike in some bushes, and walked on foot to the firepit by the pier. There, he immediately disrobed and burned the disguise he had used to blend in among the medical staff. While he had indeed been hired to bring about Lisa's death by any means necessary, McCann's own death was mere hours away, as his foolhardy pursuit of the wandering bear would seal his fate.
Heartland neighbour and dairy farmer Gerrit Van der Heyden would eventually sight the roving bear on his property a few weeks later. It was confirmed to be the one that attacked Herring and killed Earl McCann. Fish and Wildlife authorities euthanized it, though some would be sad about its fate, given what was known of the beast's role in discovering the culprits responsible for a few unsolved murders and the attempts on Lisa's life.
All Herring's wounds physical, psychological, and emotional, fully healed thanks to the teamwork of Ty, Amy and a recovered Remi.
Adam Parker continued to write his blog and would report on the court proceedings involving Jesse Stanton, Theresa Haywood, Stanley Belmont, and Tanner Gunn. The cases are still being tried at this time, though with the overwhelming evidence against the accused, guilty verdicts are expected.
