I think one of the most deeply fascinating things about Tarn is that as a character, as he victimizes others and is victimized, he's the embodiment of how a person can be both a monster and pathetic at the same time, like...... You look at how he ruined Pharma's life, tortured him and blackmailed him into becoming a mad shell of his former life; you look at his fanaticism and the brutal nature of his job as a professional murderer and torture, things like Grindcore. And then you look at his relationship with Megatron, how Megatron is Tarn's entire world, he almost kills himself when Megatron defects, literally WHO TARN IS exists because of Megatron.
Using Pharma and Megatron as two opposite character relationships Tarn has, it's as if he's a participant in some fucked-up cycle of violence. He victimizes, brutalizes, uses Pharma for what he can provide for him but otherwise never even thinks or cares about him. Simultaneously, Megatron also created Tarn as his puppet and slave-dog, except he never actually cared about Tarn and pretty much just groomed him to be a servant purely to make a point/hurt someone else. So Tarn existing as The Monster wasn't even some sort of momentous occasion or act of great significance; he was a means to an end to Megatron, he was nothing, he was just a pawn in a game of pettiness Megatron was playing with Optimus and the whole war. So too did Tarn use and abuse Pharma and then not give a single shit about him or what happened to him afterwards.
And it creates this fascinating portrait that I can only describe almost as, Tarn is a small man and it's only when standing in a bright light that his shadow casts long and terrifying. It's like you look at him and you see that the person who's simultaneously a monster to most is a literal nobody to the person who made him who he is (Megatron). And when you look at Tarn, it makes you contend with these completely opposing emotions of terror/fear versus pity and disgust. There's something in there, I think, about how violence is inherently corrosive both to the victim and also to the perpetrator. There's something in there about how some of the most vicious bullies are also the most sad and hollow inside without any real meaning besides victimizing other people.
Tarn makes me feel really interesting things and it's. He's just interesting.

so I wanted to say that since I'm really enjoying this event, I will likely continue to post about it, including analysis. I want to talk about the game mechanics and strategies but it's been so hard to do without people thinking you're talking about the discourse. I think as a community we all need to be a little less jumpy about this event, because I've seen posts of people being afraid to talk about the team their watching because they don't want to be dragged into discourse. I think a lot of genuinely lighthearted posts about a fun event are being misconstrued as something malicious
all of my posts are made with the spirit of friendly competition. a lot of other people are posting like this too! people should be able to do this without getting accused of hating ccs or being unfair
i've been posting a lot about red team, specifically because that's who i've been watching the most. i watch pretty much every english speaking qsmp member, it just so happens that right now i have a sub to foolish so i've been watching him so i don't have to deal with ads. because of this, i will probably continue to talk about red team the most. i'll talk about blue and green teams when i watch them! if i had the time to watch vods from every team and do a complete strategy analysis, i would. but I don't have that time. i genuinely don't care which team wins, but that doesn't mean I won't be rooting for certain teams on certain days. like on day 2, red team going from barely visible on the score bar to winning the day was an amazing underdog story! of course i'm going to root for them! and for day 3 I was rooting for green team because i want to see fitmc tryhard!
at the end of the day this is a fun event. it's fun for the ccs so it should be fun for the fandom. and if you're scrolling thru tags and getting upset/annoyed/angry at people posting about a friendly competition, you might need to reevaluate yourself

forcemasc but i'm forcing a newly transitioned tboy to become a trashy disgusting man. i get him into drinking shitty beer and wearing tank tops and cargo shorts. he's growing a hairy beer gut and we're hanging out at the local dive bar because there's nothing better to do and afterwards i drunkenly fuck his brains out in the bed of my old f-150 while i tell him how much he looks and feels like a man now

i love doing the budapest-vienna train ride with regiojet. one time they had teenagers doing the intercom announcements and hearing these poor czech kids being forced to pronounce "hegyeshalom" and "mosonmagyaróvár" made my entire day

One of the best Voyager scenes to indicate Tuvok & Neelix's dynamic and how I think Tuvok is just as if not more 'annoying'(positive) than Neelix is when Neelix pours Tuvok a fresh squeezed glass of a fruit juice blend and Tuvok's like (paraphrased) "I don't want to drink this." and Neelix is like "Can you please try it?" and Tuvok's like "I don't want to, you're really bad at this sort of thing. It's going to taste bad." and Neelix says that Ensign XYZ said she LOVED it, she even had a second glass! And Tuvok says Ensign XYZ could drink poison without a second thought and Neelix is like "Tuvok could you please just TRY it? Just try a little SIP of it PLEASE??" and Tuvok sighs and rolls his eyes and sniffs it before taking a sip and it turns out he loves it. Turns out it tasted good actually. And then after all that Neelix tries to talk to him over eggs (which he's again cooking fresh for him) and Tuvok tells him he doesn't wanna hear "the life history of his breakfast." Absolutely insufferable this man I would have burned his eggs on PURPOSE!!!!
