Dumb SVSSS thought of the day: what if Mobei-jun is pretty damn young (14, not quite 15) when Shang Qinghua (20+however long he lived his first life) first meets him. And when he's relaxed and not in mortal danger (like when he's hogging Qinghua's bed) he's acting extremely childish, as emotionally neglected teenagers sometimes do. Just the brattiest of brats, somehow an unfortunate mix of 1. trained for deadly combat 2. already posessing very thorough education on demonic politics and rulership and 3. completely emotionally neglected and almost feral. Like. He's a lonely kid who very much needs a family connection and some hugs. He reminds Qinghua of some of the disciples An Ding gets who come from neglectful families, because getting their unwanted kids in a sect raises a family's prestige and there's a 'compensation' CQMS pays out to the 'gracious parents who give up their child' so it pays better than selling them to the slavers. (It's all just a ploy to make sure the people bring their kids there first, so there's less of a chance that they would end up in the clutches of demonic cultivators.)

So overworked, sleep deprived Qinghua ends up treating his demon brat the same way he treats the An Ding brats a few times. He can't help it! He knows that Mobei-jun will grow up to be like exactly his type, but right now he's just extremely little brother shaped (despite being really goddamn tall, what are they feeding young ice demons???) and Qinghua's brain just turns off the self preservation around him when he's tired enough apparently.

And Mobei-jun... Likes?? He likes this??? Nobody has babied him since the fallout with Linguang-jun when he was four, he's touch starved and needy for affection. The way his human expresses affection is not really the way he's used to, but it's still pleasant. It speaks to that shameful part of him that wanted to curl up and cry himself into oblivion when he was five and his father threw him out into the ice sheets and told him he's not allowed to return unless he kills something with his bare hands and then finds his way home.

So Shang Qinghua acquires a sticky, feral, demonic younger brother. He doesn't really mind as such, that's his blorbo and probably still his favorite person (and the reassurance that as long as he's Mobei-jun's emotional support human he's going to be kept safe is nice). But it really puts a lid on his non-existent dating life. Who would possibly date him now when they would have to contend with having Mobei-unlikely-to-ever-grow-out-of-his-stickiness-in-private-jun around too?

Yue Qingyuan. Yue Qingyuan would date him. He totally gets it, he has his own ill-tempered sticky little brother. Same situation, just with 95% less demonic energy and 80% more verbal sass. Shang Qinghua even ends up joking that they should set up playdates for those two. They are surprisingly effective.

What do you call it when you, your boyfriend, your little brother (feral cat, demon edition) and your boyfriend's little brother (feral cat, cultivator edition) are all cuddled up in a sleepy pile? Shang Qinghua isn't really sure, but it's comfier then it sounds, actually. Everyone appreciates Mobei-jun and his unshakably cool body temperature in the summer heat.

Hi anon!

So the reason Tradewinds was shelved and not published like 8 years ago, is because I couldn't find an Aboriginal sensitivity reader willing to read m/m with disturbing themes. I had sensitivity readers for the other side of things (like Matan and his heritage), but I kept either not finding anyone, or the one person I found took my $200 USD deposit and vanished and never spoke to me / responded to any of my emails.

As a result, I was uncomfortable distributing it anywhere broadly, even though I was relatively confident the novel isn't offensive, because I just don't know 100%.

I am a lot more confident releasing it via subscription as an exclusive novel, because the people who pay for subscription are often folks who are a) already used to my style of writing and b) generally know what to expect from me, vs. cold audiences who don't. I'm kind of kicking myself that I didn't realise that Tradewinds would make a great exclusive/paywalled release for subscription, because it means it's only ever going to find a very narrow bandwidth of readers.

Basically if I could release it for single purchase - as basically an ebook - I would have released it like 8 years ago, anon. And the reason I have actually released it this specific way is down to the fact that I'm just not really confident offering it for broader distribution.

That might change one day, if I happen to stumble across a sensitivity reader who is okay with my style of writing, who is reputable + has references (i.e. so I know I won't lose a fair chunk of money in the process, because that burned me pretty badly, not gonna lie). But until then, having Tradewinds be limited is the only way I'm comfortable releasing it at all.

Folks are more than welcome to sign up for one month, download the book (and read any other early access they want) and then leave. They can even just put 'I only wanted one thing and now I have it' in the exit survey so I know what they were there for if they want. Then it's still a single purchase (with some early access extras), and they still access the downloadable file. :)

Sad and Disappointing information for Zuma Fans.

The reason why he's been left out in both the show and merch is because his toys aren't selling well and they just think that Zuma isn't marketable because he's just a plain brown dog.

Not selling well? They are LITERALLY SOLD OUT IN MY COUNTRY. The few Zuma toys I found are some of the movie ones and the small plush version (in bad shape btw, his face is washing out in every single one of them lol).

These pics are from when I was at one of the biggest malls in my city a couple weekends ago. There was also only ONE of his big truck pups toys. I still need to go look in the other big mall and hope they'll have something else, I'm planning to go there this Friday when I don't have any classes to teach, but I gave up finding Zuma, I'll probably MAYBE find Marshall- WHO'S ALSO NEARLY SOLD OUT EVERYWHERE.

I swear if Zuma wasn't selling well around here, I WOULD'VE FOUND HIS LEFTOVER TOYS to buy by now. I can't find them in stores here, neither in our online shopping websites, the ones I find are the movie ones or "to import" options. Everything else IS COMPLETELY SOLD OUT!!! THEY SOLD EVERYTHING HERE!!!! THERE'S NOT A SINGLE TOY LEFT!!! They're just NOT RE-STOCKING.

Wanna know who's NOT selling well here? Rex. Poor guy has SO MANY of his vehicle toys just sitting there waiting for people to take pity on him and buy. I don't blame. He's looking ugly. I love him and I don't think I'll spend 130 on his vehicle toy. They didn't add not even stickers to it like the others and his face looks like he saw things that can't be unseen.

Meanwhile, Zuma's toys are the hardest to find because they sold out and whatever else I'm able to find are EXPENSIVE AS HELL. I'm sorry, I love Zuma with all my heart and soul, but I'm not gonna sell my kidney to be able to afford his movie hovercraft. AS MUCH AS I'D LOVE TO, anyway.

#it's my last shift in 2 days and then i'm leaving this job i'm actually so happy i no longer has to work there! 🎉 #i need to find a new one asap of course but i never had energy to do so on my off days so i'll focus on that now #i've endured the hardest shifts with freezing -25-30 °C where the heater conditioner did absolutely nothing #shifts with the roof leaking trying to not let the orders of customers get wet constantly wiping shelves throughout 2 days on top #of everything i has to do #these past 2 days sewage system froze and i had no water to wash my hands or use the restroom properly..🤦‍♀️ #i know the wet hand wipes are bad for ecology but man they continously saved me and also i had to wash my hands using water from kettle and #i had to do it outside freezing of course because the sink and restroom are in another building and i didnt have time to constantly walk #there.. and this on top of 2 last weeks of december being especially batshit crazy stressful and having heated karen encounters each shift. #and it was so hard on me because i am a nonconfrontational person and i don't like arguing with people #but i learned so much in these months of working there and for that experience i am still grateful :") #it's bittersweet that i won't see the friendly regulars that were always kind to me anymore tho 😔 and my coworker came yesterday #and we spoke for like an hour or so and he said he is is sad that i'm leaving because i'm such a nice person and a great coworker 🥺 #ngl this made me sad too but life goes on.. he said he'll be leaving in a month too #said he didn't think that i'll leave first 😂 #i woke up almost an hour ago from 3 bg3 related dreams in a row btw 😂🤦‍♀️ i need to play 🙈 ok i need to get up first..😭 #tbd
