2023 Art Purge
Original edition! Ended up having to split the doodles into two parts, I didn’t mean to end up with so many left over but oops - onto the commentary!
Remember crayon Edgar? I drew this one at the same time! Loosely based off Circus Baby but really just more of a general cutesy look - layering with colours is fun :)
Eyes, every year. Two general eyes, and two characters! Bottom left is Souichi, and bottom right is Vivian :) Vivian always gets a spare eye haha
Some concept art for a false backpack I still kinda wanna make - it’d be a prop for a game I made earlier this year, as the prize container! It’s meant to be kind of like a pop-up shop that can fold away fairly small and hold a bunch of small items safely and inconspicuously, though it wouldn’t actually work as a real backpack lol
Some Cherubsona concept art, thinking about their hair and the light rays - I considered having a single asymmetrical hair tuft, I think while I was still on the fence about having asymmetrical wings as well - I’m happy with the final design :)
And some baby angels! Based on my DQIX/AGE headcanons/actual canon lol, took a few tries to get a design I was happy with before settling on the bottom-most one with the fuzzed ears, lolling about haha. Cute!
Also thinking about “Fallen” designs, since my cherubsona is meant to be a fallen angel - or even just biblically accurate angels! Maybe they became more normal-looking after falling haha
More Charm doodles based on the Hungry idea - neither Frankenstein nor Zombies were quite what I was looking for, but they were close! Poor Charm, even if it is a Look
More eyes! Concept sketches of the Yanderapy boys :D Mitsu’s swirls and Ishida’s sleepy ♥ eye expression haha
An alternate panel of Mitsu being shy to admit his love language haha, I wanted his expression to be a little more visible but him hiding in the book is also very cute haha
Little doodle of Ishida singing Daisy Bell! He’s half-crazy all for the love of Mitsu after all
Technically these are from later in the year but I was really hoping to have the set up for a silly concept rolling - Ishida wants to play a game!
The game would allow each of them to take a turn, with the goal of the game to be to sneak a gift into the other’s bag or pocket when he’s not looking. A cute and silly and fun concept to reverse pick-pocket the other and give a little treat! Totally harmless and not at all strange or weird or with any kind of underlying sinister vibes!
The punchline of course was that since they’re both yanderes that it basically turns into stalking each other, which as featured here, Mitsu is very into, who could have guess lol. The double punchline is that they’re both so aware of/obsessed with each other that they notice each other right away, but play along because it’s obvious that they’re both enjoying it haha
It’s yandere enrichment! Ishida would also get a real rush from “hunting” Mitsu, as would Mitsu enjoy being “hunted” - yet more twisted love languages ♥
Random deer :) Actually one of the animals I considered for Dahlia early on but decided to scrap, because I don’t know how to draw deer lol
Also went through a couple scrapped designs for her artist friend, just to make sure I explored all my options thoroughly! I’m glad I did, but I’m happiest with the one I decided on, of course
Brief Dahlia and Tala meeting. They’re unsure of each other! Squirrels and dogs don’t have the best track record admittedly
Bit of vent :( Bar’s always good for it ♥
Bucket! :D Been a bit since I drew anyone from that cast, though I somehow made him on-model by accident lol, and of course he’s still cute! That’s the important part really
Eyesssssssss <3 <3 On the left were some quick comparisons between dot/filled-in eyes and eyes with a differentiated pupil and iris, since I’ve been defaulting to dark eyes a lot lately (it’s the Vargas influence lol); and on the right were a bunch of Cure eyes! I think at least partially studied off of some character creators? Lots of eye styles to choose from, which one suits her the best hmm. She has very sparkly eyes
And another sort-of study off a character creator haha, it’s very cute! Not very Cure, though
One of the early ideas that made me want to dig her out of storage was actually an animation idea that was maybe a liiiiiittle ambitious to go about making without her having a fixed design lol - I’ve always been a fan of magical girl transformations that completely glow-blot out the body and then they explode into frills and bows and fluff at the end haha. I would still like to come back to the idea at some point!
Ended up with a good handful of muscle studies, even after the ones I already posted - a lot of the poses ended up silly haha
And a lot of skull/face/neck studies as well, with mixed success :P
I’ll get it figured out eventually!
Sometimes it’s fun to just doodle around, shapes :) My own original human style feels so constantly in flux with the fanart I like to make and having so many non-human characters haha, probably doesn’t help that I prefer high stylism
A trio! They look kinda familiar, hmmm....
Yet more eyes lol, the first trying to figure shines. You can really see what a lack of editing does to the implied shapes pfft ♪
Always trying to figure out how to dragons! Another one I’ll have to get to Someday. There’s gotta be a trick to them >:0
Out of general studies and tests - hey I thought Just Desserts already had a sona??? And that she was like the most important and best and all that?? I got curious what my sona might be in the JD universe without being the villain haha, and I came up with a Chocolate-Chip Brioche Bun lad! :D I’ve always had something of an affinity for brioche, also somewhat inspired by Edgeworth’s cravat haha. But would Charm still exist and be wreaking havoc, or would this be the alternate universe Charm equivalent?? ‘Cause they’re definitely not “Charm”
Speaking of Charm tho! She’s holding a tooth lol - something something, candy people mining teeth? Because cavities? I dunno lol, but she’s certainly not all that much bigger than a tooth so that’s some fun scale for you :)
And finishing off with some cutesie little chibis :) I made the first as a reference for proportions, and the second to show how my holosona would look in that style haha, what a cute evil computer

oksies hi starting a new thread of get to know you
haii I'm moth and also thea you may call me any nickname as well <3
I love musicals so so much (niche and popular!! basic-shaming is lame)
I am superhero obsessed (augh pied piper)
doctor who is my autism (yay river sonf!!!!)
good omens heoughhhhhhhh
super excited to meet you <3333333
Hi moth!! You can call me tetra. Don't worry that's not my real name or anything tho. I took it from the concept of tetrachords in music.
If we're generous about what we call superheroes, then maybe most of the things I like are superhero based. I mean obviously there's marvel and dc, but then there's stuff like dpxdc, sonic the hedgehog (idk if I've ever heard him called a superhero but he kinda is), if we count magical girls then like. Sailor moon and madoka magica
I haven't seen any episodes of good omens, but I read a really good fanfic of Crowley going to therapy a while back, and a couple funny ones with like yelp reviews of Aziraphale's bookstore. Plus I love the good omens analysis posts on here. I feel like maybe I half know some of what's happened in the show but also probably haven't scratched the surface. I'm kinda bad at watching TV shows, so there's a lot of stuff that I know from fandom but haven't seen. For another example of that, I've only watched one or two episodes of Sonic Prime. I reblog posts for it and it sounds good but idk. Just bad at it.
I'm a much more casual fan of musicals, I think for the same thing as above where I just struggle to sit and watch something on purpose. But I listen to the music from them sometimes, I've read transcripts online of a couple, and i swoon whenever I see a post analyzing the meaning of a musical song, especially when they go beyond lyrics and start going into the music theory in the tune. I don't have the skills or knowledge to do that myself but I love it so much
(when the singer changes their technique to enhance the meaning,, when this or that chord is a step outside the key to symbolize change or isolation or anything,,, using instruments as symbols for this or that character,,, tbh it doesn't have to be a musical even shout out to that youtube video by Scruffy on how fnaf's audio and sound effects make it scarier)
Lately I've been bouncing back and forth between Sonic and DPxDC. With hints of Slay The Princess in there bc I saw part of a playthrough of that awhile ago and loved the concept. I reblog madoka magica stuff whenever I see it (except magia record bc I know next to nothing about it) because that stuff makes me lose my mind. The love the pain the hope the despair!! Homura is probably like my ultimate blorbo but I love all the five girls they're so cool. I actually read the manga instead of watching the show though so I'm not as familiar with all the music. Plus I think the show had some extra scenes. Although it's a little confusing bc I think some of the extra scenes I see are magia record so idk.
Also I'm a fan of arts and crafts and will reblog that kind of thing once in a while, along with cute cat stuff.
Super excited to meet you too!

Summary: While Hermione's adamant to leave her feelings for Draco behind, he comes to an unexpected awareness of his own, if only for a fleeting moment. And what does Gilderoy Lockhart have to do with it?
This is part two of three of my prequel series before I start the story I have in mind. It takes place during the second movie, but I do make a few mentions of things that only happened in the book and a bit from my other one-shot First Impressions. Thanks to anyone who decides to read!
Hermione decided she didn’t quite like Draco as much as she once did. Not due to his physical features, for he still drew her attention with his boyish looks and those rare, quiet moments when a smirk no longer held up his lips in a condescending way. Surprisingly, he indeed knew how to smile. It illuminated his pale face in a manner of which so very few were allowed to witness.
Of course, she merely beheld those instances by pure accident.
He continued to style his blond hair sleeked back and never really stopped being a thorn in Harry’s side (discordant with Ron as well). Even so, Hermione kept her fluttering feelings alive for a years’ time until he insulted her by use of a very derogatory term.
Not only did it draw tears to her eyes but it hurt in a way which shattered the image of Draco she framed in her mind. Obviously, she knew of his spiteful deeds and combative structure set between himself and her friends, yet she clung to a crush that now may as well be scattered in the wind.
However, her current predicament caused them to be in the same room together. Gilderoy Lockhart personally asked for her assistance, to which she nodded vigorously, desiring very much to be in his company. The problem formed when Draco reluctantly got involved.
He tried to deny the professor’s request to no avail, even snippily questioned why he didn’t bother getting Harry instead.
Helping Gilderoy answer fan mail might have been considered his version of serving detention, if only to specifically speak more to Harry that is. Nevertheless, Hermione thought him rather generous to take the time during the approaching winter season to answer letters and sign autographs.
So, he sat at his desk, flashing a perfect smile in their direction whenever speaking, as Hermione and Draco were situated next to one another, writing out addresses onto envelops and attaching a small candy cane for added holiday cheer.
He had to momentarily excuse himself to fetch more ink, leaving the pair alone. Before departing, Gilderoy took a moment to complement her handwriting, using the words absolutely stunning and even pattered her on the shoulder. Hermione blushed furiously.
Draco inwardly scoffed at the reaction; her tinted pink cheeks noticeable despite the low evening lighting.
He thought about simply leaving. Walking out would prove straightforward enough, but with his luck they’d end up passing one another. As an alternative, he turned to a rather obvious complaint.
“We’ve been at this for two hours. You’d think he’d give it up already. Fan mail? As if anyone actually cares.” He shifted in his seat, folding his arms on the table.
He caught sight of the photo of Lockhart nearest to him, the man in the image sharing a wide grin as he winked.
Muttering about absurdity of it all, Draco slammed the frame down. The bang echoed throughout the silent room, making those in the many portraits jump.
“At least he takes his fame in stride,” Hermione replied ready to defend the man. “I believe him to be serious-minded about the whole thing. Kindhearted, even.”
“You and every other girl at this school,” Draco rebuked with an easy roll of his eyes. “He’s a joke. And you just sit there batting your eyelashes at him hoping he’ll take notice.”
The thought of asking about the Chamber of Secrets or somehow getting any information regarding the identity of the Heir of Slytherin slipped upon the remark. She still had the Polyjuice Potion to make use of, in any case.
Hermione raised a brow, her tone falling in kind, perhaps even in slight challenge. “If you’re not careful people might think you resent the attention he’s rightfully receiving.”
“That’s even more ridiculous than Creevey insinuating I’m envious of Potter. Lockhart can’t even preform a spell to mend broken bones,” he added, a slight mocking laugh set to follow. “Perhaps Madam Pomfrey should’ve left Potter’s arm like that. Certainty an improvement, if you ask me.”
“It was a simple mistake anyone could’ve made,” Hermione replied hotly, legs swerving to the side so she faced him directly. She didn’t take into account how close they were sitting.
It reminded her of the first day they met on the train. How drawn she felt towards him, the way a mere look in her direction caused a noticeable weakness in her knees.
She forced the memory down. Draco Malfoy certainly didn’t care about her in any enamored sense and quite frankly, Hermione thought it for the best given his view on those born with Muggle parents.
He never once tried to be nice. Every glower sent her way washed over her like a wave of cold water.
So why was her heart beating so fast it feel as if it threatened burst from her chest?
But no. No. Hermione no longer wished to partake in any form of unrequited affection, for neither found solid ground for amity, much less anything akin to something of a romantic nature.
She hardened her resolve and kept her gaze in place.
Draco exhaled, letting his annoyance be seen. “There you go sucking up to yet another teacher. No wonder they all play favorites with you. Always so eager to raise your hand, defending them when they’re not even around.”
She braced herself for him to say it again, except it never came. The absence of the name eased the knot forming in her stomach. He never hesitated to call her a Mudblood before, she assumed in private he’d come across no differently.
“If that’s how you think it works then maybe if you paid attention in class, you wouldn’t be falling so behind and therefore the teachers might favor you as well, right?” Hermione didn’t believe herself to be superior to any other student, although, plausibly, she understood why Draco may feel slighted.
His mood darkened. Lucius commented before the school year started how his son held the potential of amounting to no more than a thief or plunderer if his grades didn’t pick up. How he should be ashamed Hermione beat him in every exam.
The sensation burned again. He was better than everyone else, better than her. He had to be.
Draco stood, uncaring how he knocked the candy canes to the ground. A few breaking in half upon impact. “I’d be careful what I said if I were you, Granger.”
Gilderoy returned the moment he did so, shaking his head at the mess. “No need to fret, we have plenty more. I’m sure the two of you will get it all cleaned up in a moment’s time. Of course, I could perform a spell myself, gathering them up in an instant, but there is a matter of responsibility to consider. I’d feel absolutely dismal if I took a lesson away from my students.”
Draco sat back down in a huff, intent on refusing. “That’s servant's stuff at best.”
“Oh, Draco you remind me so much of myself in my younger years. I wasn’t always, well, the astonishing celebrity you see here today. If you can believe it. Many thought me to be quite the scallywag. If you’ve read ––”
“All right, I’ll help if it will get you to shut up,” he interrupted, heedless the fact that he was speaking to a teacher.
“That’s the spirit!” He draped his arm around Draco’s shoulder, to which he forcefully shrugged off.
Hermione knelt down as Lockhart rounded his desk, getting back to work. She started gathering a few, taking in the smell of peppermint. The distinctive fragrance overpowered the freshly obtained ink and parchment around them.
Draco followed in suit, hardly rushing in the process. His want to remain lessened more than ever.
Hermione ignored the apparent scow, wondering how anyone could speak so discourteously. Fixated on the thought, she didn’t notice they went for the same candy cane.
Draco’s hand barely touched hers. Even within the moment of slight contact an electric shock bounced between them. The static so prominent it caused Hermione to drop what she collected.
She assumed he underwent the same awareness. The way he quickly retracted his arm and curled his fingers against his palm proved it well enough.
But when she glanced up to meet his familiar blue-gray eyes, Draco glared and she gave a rather pointed look in return. Almost as it never happened at all.
He abruptly got to his feet. The unexpected sensation put him on edge. Suddenly overly bothered, he pushed forward pretense. “Sorry, Professor, I just remembered I have somewhere else to be.”
Draco managed to walk away prior to receiving Lockhart’s approval.
He did, however, glimpse back on his way out the door, watching as Gilderoy took it upon himself to aid her despite his previous verses.
Hermione laughed at something he said, smiling rather brightly. The way she looked at him, nervous, yet as if she’d melt under his warm regard, Draco couldn’t explain why but a minor spike of animosity towards their teacher pulsated.
He never exceedingly liked Gilderoy Lockhart from the second he laid eyes on the man. To that point, Draco shoved the impression aside and headed towards the Slytherin common room, daring not for a second to consider jealousy was the culprit.
