#the first time he did it in unmortricken i was like Fuck Yes and little did i know he would just keep doing it the whole time #DESPERATELY hoping they keep both of these things. i Love when characters have tiny little habits sprinkled in their actions #to me these things kinda sorta symbolise him no longer being afraid to really be himself #like he no longer has to hide certain things about himself that inside of the cfc wouldve made him appear ‘suspicious’ #since he IS like so much different than any other morty ever #also barely related but like. em is fundamentally such a good character bc everytime we see him he’s feeling something different #in his first appearance he was cold and distant because at the time he was new to being free and was strictly focused on his goal and wasn’ #even sure if it would work #in his second appearance he seemed hopeful and honest both of these things just being a trap to get the people of the citadel to trust him #and his old colder self unfurling near the end after he successfully becomes president #in his third appearance he seems giddy almost. he’s constantly giggling before and after sentences and he’s super eager to just Get The Hel #Out. and also to reveal the truth to morty prime. make it so that he doesn’t have to be the one to shoulder everything anymore. #and this fourth appearance. apart from a few little details he really just seems happy and comfortable. the entire episode he was just doin #whatever he wanted and nobody got in his way at all. and i could not be happier #normal about this character! #rick and morty #evil morty #rick and morty spoilers #odiespeak

So normally we only get fullblown, extended and dedicated flashbacks for heroic characters in One Piece, the characters who we're meant to root for. The literal only TRUE exception we've had to this rule was Big Mom's flashback. Even fucking Doflamingo's flashback was tied to Law and Rosinante's

So the fact that we haven't gotten a single fucking GLIMPSE at Crocodile's backstory is?!?

Like sure, we haven't gotten like a Moria flashback, but you know, he literally told us all we needed to know himself, AND we got to see glimpses of him in the Wano flashbacks. Arlong didn't get a flashback of his own, but he did get to cameo in Fisher Tiger's flashback. And Rob Fucking Lucci got a flashback that was 6 whooping panels long

BUT CROCODILE?? Not only do we know almost Fuck All about his story, but also have never gotten as much as a glimpse at it? But his backstory has been HINTED and TEASED at multiple times??

jess being the shortstop is driving me insane. like they don’t really show it onscreen (which is a shame! but runtimes i get it) but shortstops are literally the heart of the team. they’re the ones calling out the pitch count and reminding people where the play is. more often than not they’re the cutoff from the outfield. they back up the pitcher and the third baseman AND they cover both second and third. second base is the most stolen base bc it’s the furthest from home plate and therefore the hardest to throw out, and shortstop usually covers second when a steal is being made. most right hand batters pull to left field so they tend to get the most action. due to being between second and third if there’s a double play being turned they’re usually a part of it one way or another. they get hard liners and grounders as well as the occasional easy pop-up so they’re always on their toes and usually fielding the most difficult hits

also the pitcher/shortstop dynamic is soooo important. yes pitcher/catcher dynamic we get it but most of the time pitchers are too focused on pitching to be able to field well, especially because any ball that comes their way is gonna be hot due to the fact that pitchers are the closest fielder to the batter. shortstop covers the pitcher when they don’t have time to pull out of the pitch follow-through. they charge the ball when a bunt happens bc the pitcher doesn’t have time to react quick enough. they’re the one who reminds the pitcher where they’re at in the count and encourages them. it’s easier for shortstop to get to the mound than the catcher so often shortstop is the one going to the pitcher to reassure them if they’re having a hard time. they’re the fielder for the pitcher so that the pitcher only has to focus on throwing strikes. do you get what i’m saying. jesslupe nation are you picking up what i’m putting down here. do you understand why i’m going crazy about this.

basically what i’m saying is jess being shortstop just makes sense bc she is always there looking out for everyone and backing everyone up (but especially lupe), casually covering the most ground without thought, simultaneously light on her feet and a solid brick wall as the occasion calls for, covering the hole, leading the team from behind. you can’t be a shortstop without being a team player, and you don’t have a team unless you have a strong shortstop on the diamond 🥲

HI. WELCOME TO THE CLUB, watch the trigger warnings. but yeah, revolutionary girl utena veers more and more towards surrealism the further you get into the series. it often and voluntarily forfeits narrative/logical consistency in favor of visual storytelling, metaphors and symbolism. i was just talking about it with nic the other day, and if the story weren't so harrowing, i would recommend it to everyone who wants to get into literary analysis, because it is SO packed with symbolism EVERYWHERE that it actually encourages you to try to decode it.

whatever you think utena is about, it is NOT. you can't go in and treat it like your 49293th classical shoujo. utena is a firework show of visual symbolism and it very rarely, if ever, explains itself to the viewer. it refuses to handhold you, but it never berates you for trying and getting it wrong either. there is SO much handholding in modern day media, but utena trusts its viewer to take away something meaningful from itself and to piece its message together on their own. it's one of my favourite pieces of media of all time just for that

#it's almost closer to a poem and to poetry than to a story in the sense that we think think about today #you see why ye standard transformative fandom was never able to take hold with utena? #my suggestion is try to actively analyze what's going on and the symbols presented to you as you go along #find recurring motifs. utena deals a LOT with cycles and repetition (they were playing into their budget limitations and did it brilliantly #what objects keep returning. what characters are they associated with. how do they relate to the irl systems of power the story criticizes #what does the white rose mean #^ had a lot of fun trying to figure that one out. i landed on something other people in the fandom also got but then nic told me his take #and yeah they basically pried my third eye open with a crowbar. #this anime made me want to try out symbolism and allegories in my own works #it's so fucking good #but hey if you finish it and still feel like you didn't get 90% of that you can go to nic metanarrates' blog and check out his rgu tag #basically 50% of the fandom posts are visual and narrative analysis. the other 10% is breathtaking art. the remaining 40% is memes #BUT! wait until you're finished..watch for spoilers #rgu #answered asks

misplaced affections- instead of Miles being Phoenix's fixation it was Kristoph (basically a swap between Miles and Kristoph in their role in Phoenix's life)

In a Painterly Way- Kristoph is an artist who is well-acclaimed until Phoenix Wright, a famous art critic, critiques his art for having no soul. The two basically meet and butt heads.

soulmate au- this one has variations:

soulmate marks -Edgeworth and Phoenix are together like the soulmates they were always meant to be, but when Phoenix meets Kristoph, he gains another mark; Edgeworth is not pleased

soulmate heartbreak- au where if one feels that their love for their soulmate is unreciprocated, they're given another soulmate. Phoenix thought his love for Edgeworth was unreciprocated so he was given Kristoph as a new option.. spoiler alert: Edgeworth likes him back this whole time and unfortunately for Phoenix, fate doesn't offer take-backsies

the soulmate diet- au where you can only taste the flavor associated with your soulmate/s in your life until you meet them for the first time. For Phoenix Wright, he can only taste berries: Strawberries and Blueberries specifically. (Of course it's narumitsu and krisnix ;)

2) A ship that might surprise others: I kinda ship Link x Mipha from BOTW. I like Zelda x Link too, but something about Link x Mipha is just so sweet and tragic. I like that they knew each other for a lot longer than Zelda and Link knew each other.

#i am in a massive stargate phase right now #i almost put john and rodney as the third brotp but i wanted to include something non stargate #and seriously. i am enjoying the x-files SO MUCH!!!!!!!! #the alien episodes are my favorite and i wish there were more of those and fewer of the ghost/spirit ones #but oh well #and can i say? mulder and scully's dynamic is perfection #not just how they trust each other or tease each other but how they physically behave with one another #the acting choices seem very deliberate #mulder wears his heart on his sleeve and i am living for that #and he's big on touch. not in a creepy way at all #but he's constantly putting his hand on her shoulder or gently placing his hand on her back to steer her #so much of it is 100% unnecessary for the scene so it feels like very deliberate acting choice regarding the character #and it doesn't phase scully a bit #even in the first few episodes when they've only known each other a few months or less she has no issue with how familiar mulder acts #again. i need to emphasize---it never comes across as creepy just really cute and tender #i really really like how she is SO TINY compared to him and i think his physicality and protectiveness is emphasized by that #but at the same time he knows she's fully capable #he seems protective of her but not in a demeaning way. not overprotective. just lots of chivalry and honor #that's something that seems totally lost in media today: men who want to protect women just because that's what they should be doing #and women who let them #too many women get bent out of shape when men try to be gentlemen #women have tried to wipe out chivalry and then they turn around and complain about toxic masculinity 🙄 #but mulder is a wonderful gentleman and i love watching him and scully #tagged #sorry for going off in the tags but i've been wanting to rave about this stuff for a few days now xD

#i put a lot of thought into the way the characters are arranged like i make sure to display them in a way where everyone is visible #while also arranging the characters in a way that i feel makes sense. like team sonic + amy are all together in the front row #the second and third row are supporting characters who are also grouped with their friends/teammates #like cream is in a separate row from amy but is placed behind her so theyre still close together and shes next to blaze whos next to silver #whos next to espio whos directly in front of vector whos in the back row because hes so tall #not going into extreme detail about everyones placement just wanted to give an idea of whats going on here #idkw here to put the bigger werehog figure like hes massive so it feels like he should go in the back #but he straight up doesnt fit. like the riser is too tall for him to be able to stand on it #i could put him somewhere in the front maybe ? since hes a sonic. but id have to push a few things around to make him fit #without completely blocking tiny little cream on the second row #also i dont even have enough space for all my figures to be on the display lmaooo a bunch of my classic minis arent on there #simply because idk where to put them. so theyre just hanging out on my playsets which are on a separate shelf #its a mess out here

Lied. I have more to say about Talk To Me. Because i really adore how Haley isn't... that bad. Are they a jerk? sure, yeah, big time, that little slap they did on Jade made me want to beat his ass up, but they still don't mean harm, really. He's just a teen, like all the others. All these teens are shown in that ambiguous sense, where they do evil things but aren't really evil. I really enjoy that.
