OMG YOUR DELTARUNE S/I LOOKS SOOOOO COOOL TELL ME ABOUT THEM!!!
Thankyou thankyou!!! They're the Vessel from the beginning of the Survey Program, and follow Kris around as a ghost narrating. Sort of the Chara to their Frisk, but with a lot more backseating
Tumblr media
They don't control Kris, per say, like the player in canon Deltarune, but they do have more than just the power of being really annoying and can sway Kris without their input. Obviously, Kris isn't a big fan of being told what to do against their will and tends to fight back as much as they can.
They try not to be too annoying to Kris and stay in their lane as just an observer, but sometimes a choice comes up that they get entirely too excited about (like giving the plush to Berdly in Chapter 2, or giving affection to Ralsei) and end up accidentally forcing Kris to go along with them. They rarely notice when they do this, and Kris is unable to convey their lack of control to them, making their relationship very uneven.
In the Light World no one but Kris can see them, and they can't go very far from Kris on their own, where in the Dark World they can move at will and can even physically interact and be seen by everyone else, though Kris is still the only one who can hear them, so they tend to still stick pretty close to them.
They can also possess Kris to fully influence their choices and speech, though they only did so once and it was on complete accident. Kris described the experience as taking a Back Seat to their own life, fully conscious but unable to do anything. They've sense sworn to Kris to never do this again, it's the one thing Kris trusts them on.
I haven't yet decided if they're something that's always been with Kris, or if they're a new thing that appeared around the start of Chapter 1. That's probably a decision that'll change as we get more chapters and more information on Kris themselves
This Self Insert doesn't have any self ships attached to it, per say. The Vessel is very attached to Berdly and Ralsei but in a much more "Kris you should date these people" way, which makes Kris incredibly uncomfortable so they try to keep to themselves about it.

Writebr Intro
Tumblr media
Writeblr Intro Time!
Hiya! This is so overdue and I apologize for that lol. I’ve been meaning to write this but school seems to always be getting in the way of just that. Writing. But here I am finally writing this! And yes my username is a pun of my own last name but I just couldn’t resist.
So basically, I really want to surround myself with other writers and have stumbled across tons of writeblr’s (I think that’s what they’re called lol). Instantly I was in love and wanted more of what the community had to offer. I’ve been a self-proclaimed “author” or writer since my early years of grade school. I was that child in the back of the class with ADHD that couldn’t sit still (the cliche bouncing leg and always chewed down nails) and had what my mother called an “overactive imagination”. My notebooks in high school were often filled with wild stories about “galaxies far far away” or dystopias with cruel governments ruled by dictators. Now I’m in my second year of college swamped with classes about the Psychology of criminals (or I like to call the science of murder), and trying to find time to write a novel. So the struggle is real my dudes.
A little about Me:
Hana
20
She/Her
Pisces
Asexual
Forensic Psychology Major and English with a concentration in Writing Minor
Book hoarder
Dog Mom
Vintage AF
Low Key Emo Punk because I’m no average white girl!
History nerd (Love learning about the old wars and cultures)
Movie nerd (There’s an endless stack of DVDs in my house)
Fandoms:
The Mandolorian (or the ManDADolorian)
Star Trek
Star Wars
Hannibal
X-Files
King Falls Am
Welcome to Nightvale
Transformers (Obviously not the bad movies lol. Bumblebee is baby and must be protected always.)
Good Omens
Sherlock
Lord of the Rings
Marvel (There are so many shows and movies in this category we would be here all day if I tried to list them.)
Timeless (Not sure if the fandom is still alive after what the writers did to one of our ships lol)
DC (I’m a huge Batman geek and adore Wonderwoman, but I take the good with the bad when it comes to this fandom. Especially movie-wise anymore.)
And there’s probably more but my memory isn’t working currently.
Goals?. . . maybe:
Get my novel finished (This has literally been on my To-Do List for who knows how long.)
Meet more writers/new writers.
Improve my poetry (I suck at poetry so I bad I never let it see the light of day, so I need to work on it.)
Start my bullet journal.
Wips:
Okay by now you all know I have at least 1 Wip because I mentioned getting a freaking novel done, but just as a precaution as to what I mean by Wip or Wips. I get distracted quite easily, for some odd reason my brain absolutely loves to jump from one idea to another for no absolute reason. Like WTF dude we already have an idea we’re working on why do you keep bringing all these new ones to me like stray dogs. And like any good dog Mom or distracted writer, I want to keep all the ideas/stray dogs. So, when I say Wip I mean “Look at this cool idea I came up with” and I’ll make sure to specify which one is hogging most of my time.
Renegade: Dystopian, Thriller, Post-Apocalypse, and Science Fiction.
This is my baby. Most of my free time is dedicated to adjusting plotlines, character arc’s, fixing freaking plot holes, and other important stuff other than just plain writing. I’m hoping to finish this also monster of a story by 2020 and get it published. So big stuff!
“So tell me little wolf do you want to punish those who have wronged you?” An assassin known as the Crimson Ghost makes their way through the corrupt city-state of Ashton completing a job given to them by the Black Rose. What is a seemingly normal job though turns into something far more complicated when they stumble upon the fractions of an abandoned notebook from the past. A past the Republic is trying to desperately hide and bury no matter what. On the other side of the world in the Republic’s capital Eshar, plainly referred to as “The Prodigy” or “machine” by his superiors,  Eric Coalwood has built a life upon the ashes of his family, striving to meet the high expectations set before him by his mentor General Wolfheart. However, his life falls out of its normal day to day routine when the unexpected is asked of him. Command a task force made up of the Republic’s most wanted or his life is over. Eric doesn’t need reasons for why he must do what he has to, all he needs are orders and the Republic is more than happy to give them. Either way the clock is ticking for both the Crimson Ghost and the Republic’s prodigy and with time running out they both have two options. Either get over their different beliefs concerning the Republic or allow the world to once again succumb to war but this time nobody is going to survive it. “Legends are slippery things. For the glory that coats them hides the pain, suffering and death that created them.”
The Trouville Files: Dystopian, Thriller, Post-Apocalypse, and Science Fiction.
Not my biggest priority but definitely one of them considering the plot of this story. I mainly use this wip as a reference for Renegade because it’s actually the prequel to it. Also, it’s great to use as writing practice when I’m plagued with writer’s block for Renegade or frustrated with a plot hole. So this is my double-edged sword that does a lot of good.
“Death in these black days is neither kind nor quick.” The year is 2153, the world we know is nothing more than a wasteland strewn with the dead and a sky being choked by their ashes, not glorious and thriving but desolate and starving. The Red Death, a pandemic with a steady progression and a gruesome countdown to the demise of those infected. No one outruns it or survives it. “United we stand, divided we fall.” The Allied Nations, a totalitarian superpower, promised a united people but all they gave this world was more death and destruction. The Red Death isn’t the only thing slowly killing humanity anymore, we are in the form of the War of Broken Pacts. The spark of revolution is lit, but if it will remain so is a question asked by everyone. Does it stand a chance against the iron-fisted government holding the people in shackles? “Rebel with a cause.” Genius Medical Officer for The People’s Republic, Cyprus Ramiro works day and night in search of a cure for the Red Death exterminating hundreds, at least before this war kills him first. But he is also a man on the run and the rebellion can only shelter him for so long. “Duty over pain.” Cunning Spy and Soldier, Orion Ultor is ordered by the Allied Nations to infiltrate and gather information on the ever-growing People’s Republic. In bold letters is Search and Destroy; make a ruin of the rebellion and ensure the Allied Nations remains as it should -- unquestionably in power. No matter the cost unless he wants to suffer the consequences again. “If we fall we shall rise from the ashes like a phoenix.” They should have never met, battlefields don't make good friends. It wasn't fate, it wasn't destiny, only war throwing people together.  The Allied Nations is trying to stamp out something they fear, but can they before the Red Plague? Or will humanity find itself extinct.
Beyond his point is where I house my stray dogs/ideas
Hiraeth: Paranormal, Horror, Mystery, and Thriller.
Scooby-doo who?
Hiraeth means a homesickness for a home which you cannot return. That is how Arcane feels like she’ll never be home no matter how hard she tries to connect with her family. The closest she feels to being home is with her friends and in the worn leather seats of the van they all pitched in to buy. It all started out as a way to pass time and for all of them to escape their families because to be honest parents never understand, but it all turned sideways when a simple “ghost hunting trip” stirred something that was meant to remain buried. The truth never remains buried though, not really, somehow it will always creep back in ugly and twisted. Arcane has never felt “at home” but she’ll do whatever it takes to keep what she considers her family safe.
Sweet Dreams: Historical Fiction, Thriller, and Romance.
A literal dream turned into story plot and no I’m not kidding.
The Red String of Fate, The Lovers, and War. These are the three elements intertwined within the plot of Sweet Dreams but before anyone makes any assumptions this isn’t some chummy rom-com. There will be tears and heart strings may get yanked clean out because the angst is real. War and love never mix well, it leaves a sour taste in ones mouth and makes the mind question things it shouldn’t. Like is the woman in his dreams the same woman he sees in all his dreams? Constantly he somehow ends up spotting that same ruby red lipstick, honey golden eyes, and brunette hair laying in perfect curls. She’s everywhere except in his actual life. They say you and your soulmate share dreams, living proof of how intertwined souls are. She doesn’t believe in love or the idea of souls, not with the monsters roaming around the countryside and battlefield carrying assault rifles. Society tells her where her place is, but she disagrees and rather create her own destiny.
The Prophet: Paranormal, Thriller, Post-Apocalypse, and Science Fiction.
A short story I can’t seem to let go or it doesn’t want to let me go, but either way, this story has the makings for something great. It also at times seems strikingly similar to Good Omens, so don’t be surprised.
There’s no anti-christ in this story, he already has a book about himself so let’s not make another one besides there are other stories that need to be told. Such as, have you ever heard of modern day prophets and I’m not talking about those people with cardboard signs saying “the end is near!” or giant churches with people preaching about the end times. No, I’m talking about a kid with messy hair and dark circles under their eyes because sleep is no longer a choice due to migraines that plague them every night. Migraines that bring weird cryptic messages that make one question their own sanity. And what happens when strange people start asking about said migraines and messages?
Virago: Fantasy, Thriller, Historical Fiction, and Romance.
I’m not a huge fantasy reader, for some reason I can’t stay invested in them, but here I am with a fantasy story in my wips. It has mages, knights, assasination plots, and one super badass general who takes zero shit from her king. That’s right women empowerment, my dudes! I don’t really have much of a synopsis inline or a plot because this is only of those wips I let rattle around in my brain from time to time. But I will say it does give me that LOTR vibe but also Game of Thrones.
Don’t be surprised if you see my stray doggos from time to time because I will admit I love to play around with storyboards. Even if I don’t have a fully planned out plot put together for it.
And that concludes this what was supposed to be short Writeblr Intro. I hope I have peaked some of your guys’ interests because the community definitely got a hold of minee. Feel free to send me a message about anything I mentioned (even if it’s just fandom shit I don’t care) and don’t be shy. I’m a huge introvert but somehow love talking, so don’t worry it won’t be awkward and odds are I’m equally nervous about conversation lol. Also, feel free to add me to any taglist and reblog/like if you’re active and would like more Writeblr mutuals!
Happy Writing,

FATED, huang xuxi
↳ Rating lots of fluff + slight crack
↳ Pairing player!Xuxi x Y/N
↳ Word count 5k [ one-shot / soulmate!au ]
↳ Summary the red thread of fate was real after all, managing to make something out of nothing
Tumblr media
Red Thread of Fate: ancient Chinese mythology about the lunar matchmaking god Yuè Lâo tying a red thread around the ankles of destined lovers at the age of 21; regardless of place, time, or circumstances.
The DJ played hectic, bass heavy EDM tracks that contrasted drastically to the semi formal themed party. You down the red of the alcoholic contents in the red solo cup with a wide smile, turning to your best friend Ella.
“Thank you for forcing me to come! I’m having the time of my life!”
Stress has been your closest best friend lately, with all the exams and projects being thrown at you. So when Ella asked you to go out with her, you were definitely more than hesitant at first.
You throw your hands in the air and Ella smirks at you. “I told you you’d have a blast.”
The sea breeze flows through your hair when you close your eyes and throw your head back, appreciating the open decked yacht and everything this extravagant party had to offer. You were on some random yacht off the coast, still close enough to be able to see the city. The moon was completely full tonight, high and dominating the entire sky.
Your tipsy mind free from troubles and bad thoughts. You felt reborn the moment the time went past midnight.
The DJ announces that it was midnight and the crowd cheers heavily and you join, not really knowing why exactly the mass of people were going crazy.
“You never did tell me what club this is or event this was, you know.” You take another cup of beer from the bar and chug the whole thing down in one go.
Ella’s eyes widen at your question and she laughs nervously, sipping on the cup in her hands. “Funny story, Y/N.”
You motion for her to go along whilst nodding and dancing to the song the DJ played, not really focused on what she was saying.
“This isn’t a club or event.” She sighs and avoids your gaze. Eun says the next sentence quick and all in one breath, knowing exactly how you’re gonna take it. “Its Xuxi’s yacht, and he’s now officially 21!”
Your best friends throws her hands in the air as if to cheers, but you felt every ounce of alcohol fade once she mentions the younger boys name. Whether it was the tequila shots or just how much you hated him, your hearts been racing ever since Xuxi was brought into the conversation.
You knew you could never date a guy younger than you, even if it was just a few months younger like him.
“Are you fucking with me?” Your arms are immediately crossed against your chest as you stare at Ella with a narrow gaze.
Needless to say, Xuxi and your relationship was pretty worse for wear. You loathed him, his intensely cocky personality and ‘i’m richer and better than you’ attitude was a complete turn off. Everything about Huang Xuxi was a complete turn off.
“He invited us.” She shrugged. “You were having so much fun before I mentioned it was his party.”
Invited us? Give me a break. As far as you could tell, Xuxi hated you almost just as much as you hated him. He sneered at you whenever he saw you and even gave you the nickname Top Bitch. Which, to be honest, didn’t really sound all that bad to you.
“Exactly.” You sigh and feel a headache come out of nowhere, leaving you clutching your right temple. “I’m allergic to even the slightest mention of him, I just got a headache. I’ll be back, don’t think you’re in the green.”
You move past the crowd to get towards the bathroom, or anywhere that was at least somewhat quiet. Going inside the large living room, you walk towards a bathroom but when you knock and only hear explicit noises on the other side; you cringe and leave. So you go towards the main bedroom instead, walking in when no one answers your knock.
The empty and quiet room let you release a sigh in happiness, massaging your temples. Contemplating laying down on the large and inviting white bed, you go to the bathroom instead; only feeling your temples throb even more.
You wince as you walk towards and pull open the door to the bathroom only to jump back and shriek at the sight.
None other than Huang Xuxi was leaning against the sleek marble sink, clutching his forehead until he jumped at the sound of the door opening and a girly squeal. You watch him groan and wince before turning to you.
But, amazingly once you connect eyes, the throbbing pain is gone and all you feel is relief. Your shoulders relax, your head feels light, its like a wave of serenity flows all through your body. You couldn’t help but feel so at ease, its like you forgot who you were currently gawking at.
“Y/N?” Xuxi looks at you with dazed, confused eyes before looking you up and down, iris’ doubling size at the sight of your feet. “Oh my god.”
You quickly look down and you instantly get why, mouth falling open.
Your black minidress and strappy black heels allowed for a thin, glowing red thread to wrap and tie itself around your ankle. But it didn’t stop there, you watched in horror as it continued onto the bathrooms tilled floors and under Xuxi’s pants, presumably to tie around his ankle.
You swallow thickly. The string felt like nothing but Xuxi and you could definitely see it, the vibrant red surrounded by a bright white light.
“What the hell is going on? Did you do this? Is this some sort of joke?” You stare at the last visible end of the thread before it disappears under the tall, irritating boys pants. He sighs, still staring at your ankle and the ribbon with a disbelieving look.
“No, princess, its a stupid fairytale my dad used to tell me. Guess its fucking real, huh.” Xuxi squeezes his eyes shut and you’re stood there in the doorway between the bedroom and bathroom still in shook. “Red thread of fate, a Chinese myth about a string that ties around two fated lovers ankles. We’re... We’re soulmates.”
The two of you stare at each other with disbelief written all over your faces, before you burst into laughter. “Thats a joke right? You’re definitely messing with me.”
When Xuxi continues to stare at you with his wide brown eyes, your laughter soon fades when you realize his facial expression wasn’t changing at all. Your face falls and you quickly reach down to your ankle, trying to pull at the string. Your hand just goes through it, as if it was just a hologram.
Your jaw drops. “H-How?”
“I don’t know.” Xuxi replies, eyes watching your hand go through the thread, yet the thread followed your foot wherever it went. “This... This is so fucked up.”
You grumble and give up, sitting on the floor and careful not to flash that guy-your soulmate your undies. Crossing your arms across your chest, the both of your eyes set on the thread connecting the two of you. You swallow thickly when a thought comes to your mind.
“Why aren’t you calling me Top Bitch?”
Thats when you fully take notice that this whole hour consisted of a very different Xuxi, one that hasn’t called you any names or threw a comment at you. He hasn’t cursed at you, hasn’t given you any looks, this was definitely unusual for Xuxi. This Xuxi was full of big, brown eyes that seemed to be permanently dazed. His words were softer, almost as if Xuxi’s voice got gentler the second he turned 21.
Xuxi’s eyes whip to yours and they’re obviously wide. “Holy shit. I haven’t called you that.” He swallows thickly and quickly looks away from your gaze with pink on his cheeks. “I don’t feel like I want to anymore.”
For the first time in the whole three years you’ve known Xuxi, your heart flutters for a second. But that one second is so profound it leaves you clutching your chest and shaking your head slowly.
“What is going on with me?”
“You’re falling for me, Y/N.” Xuxi lightly smirks for the first time since the two of you locked eyes, which is very surprising. He sighs a second later and taps the sink.
“Shut the fuck up.” You sneer at him and scrunch your face. “This is all my drunk mind and everything will wear off in an hour or two.”
Xuxi sits on the floor leaning against the sinks drawers. “Enjoying my party?” He’s sitting across from you and the end of his feet reach your knees where the ends of yours reach the middle of his calf. You take a quick inhale and look away.
“I guess. Then this crazy migraine came out of nowhere and now I’m here.”
“Same here. But its completely gone now.”
That definitely meant your headaches were connected. There was no way the both of you could get a headache at the same time then have it leave at the same time.
The red thread.
Your eyes narrow and you go to nudge his calf, but once your foot touches his leg, it was like adrenaline flew through your bodies, goosebumps instantly rising. And when you looked at the thread, it started to slowly loose its vibrancy. Your eyes widened.
“Xuxi, look, if we’re touching the string gets dimmer and fades really slowly. If I pull away it stops.” You show him and nod to yourself with a small grin. “So it should fade away the more we’re touching.”
When you look up at Xuxi, he looks as if he was daydreaming but looking directly at you. His lips were in a small side smile and eyes low. The way he managed to look at you pretty intimately made your cheeks pink. “I think that’s the first time you’ve said my name.”
“Thats definitely not true.” You scoff and can’t help but laugh under your breath. Xuxi’s grin widens just a little at the sight.
“Lets just say it was then.”
Your grin is unbearably wide and you couldn’t believe it, never once thinking Xuxi of all people would be making you blush. But then you remember that it was Xuxi and you clear your throat and rolled your eyes. “Please, Xuxi, how many other girls have you used that on?”
“If I’m being completely honest, a lot.” Xuxi twists the rings on his fingers and you scoff loudly. When you sit up to leave, he leans forward and lightly grasps the back of your calf and you let out an audible gasp.
It was crazy, it felt like butterflies that took a lot of steroids.
“But up until an hour ago, I’ve only been thinking about one girl and its only been you.” You’re standing up and you swallow thickly at the honesty in his voice and big, brown eyes. “Which is fucking insane because we’re supposed to hate each other... right?”
You run your hands through your hair and sigh. “Its this red string thing. But the feelings aren’t real, it’ll all fade, look.”
You point to your ankles and the slightly faded string but Xuxi keeps his eyes on you, swallowing thickly at your sentence.
“Don’t you... don’t you feel like this is something more?”
Your eyes snap back up to Xuxi’s and your throat goes dry. He immediately gets up and motions between the two of you. “I don’t know about you but I’ve never felt anything like this before and I’ve been in love, so, this is different.”
You narrow your eyes at him. Xuxi? In love? That was an idea you never would’ve connected. Yet, you couldn’t help but agree. Even if you’ve never really been in love, you’ve felt it and knowing exactly how much you hated Xuxi, whatever was still keeping you in the bathroom with him was powerful.
“Why us?” You sigh and squeeze your eyes shut. “I’m soulmates with a guy who sleeps with a different girl every night!”
“Hey.” Xuxi frowns and takes a few steps towards you. “Thats not true. You know I won’t do that to you, I’m not that type of guy in relationsh-“
This Xuxi was definitely one that you aren’t used to, seeing him in a completely different light. It was as if he really did care.
“I don’t know that you wouldn’t do that to me!” You point a finger to his chest and ignore the sparks that go off from the smallest contact. “And don’t talk about us in a relationship, take a few steps back.”
He rolls his eyes and holds his hands up, moving back and away from you. And even though you know you asked him to move back, you couldn’t help but feel a loss of comfort the more steps Xuxi took. You groan at the feeling.
“I need air.” You mutter, taking one last fleeting look across Xuxi and his big, wide eyes before walking out of the bathroom and bedroom, and out towards the empty front deck. The entire walk your eyes were focused on the red string around your ankle.
No one else seemed to notice the string, as it followed your ankle through the mass of people. When you got to the deck, you take a deep breath and sigh. The three years of unfortunate encounters with Xuxi and you could be compared to a cat and dog type of relationship. The two of you went at it back and forth, ever since you first met.
Three years ago
You and your friends were at some random dorm hall on campus, playing pool and chilling in the community game room. It was around 9:36pm on a Sunday so campus was almost empty, save for the guys playing pool casually next to you.
Not gonna lie, you noticed them the minute you walked in the room, talking to your roommate Ella. Especially the taller, blonde one. He was probably the most beautiful guy you’ve ever seen, with full lips and broad shoulders, he was definitely gonna be stuck in your head for a few days.
But when he caught you staring, he gave you a cocky smirk that had you rolling your eyes. If theres one thing you hated, it was a conceited guy who played girls with that exact smirk.
You’ve had too much experience and you were sure this wouldn’t add to it. In the corner of your eye you watch him and a couple of his friends walk over and you groan, nudging Ella. “They’re coming over.”
“Sheesh, blondies a looker. I caught you rolling your eyes when you saw him.” She sneaks a look at him and turns back to you with a satisfied grin.
“Not my type.” You cross your arms across your chest and boldly turn to watch him and his friends get closer. “He’s way to cocky for me, I feel it.”
“I like them confident.” Ella eyes you. “Can I go for him?”
“Go for it.” You shrug at her and turn back when the guy in question and his friends are in front of you and your friends.
“I don’t think we’ve seen any of you before.” The blonde guy keeps his gaze and smirk locked securely on you. “Do you live in the hall?”
“We live in Beacon across campus.” Even if Ella’s the one that spoke up and answered, Xuxi takes his time looking away from you to her. You scoff.
“Interesting.” He turns back to you with a cheeky grin. “I’m Xuxi.”
“My names Ella.” She holds out her hand towards him and he looks away from you with a little wink. You shake your head and turn to his friends instead. They seemed a lot calmer than Xuxi, the two boys now turned to you with warm grins.
“Hey, I’m Y/N.” You nod your head at them and they nod back. The one with light brown hair and a pretty smile answers first.
“My names Kun, I’m Xuxi’s roommate.”
“Sicheng, nice to meet you.” The boy with flawless features and light blonde hair replies.
“Nice to meet you guys too, both of you freshman?”
“No, Sicheng and I are sophomores. This is your first semester here?” Kun replies and you nod grinning at him.
“And you aren’t caught up by the force that is Huang Xuxi, impressive.” Sicheng smirks and you laugh a little, shrugging.
“Theres a lot more to a pretty face.” You look back over to Xuxi and where he stood with your friends a couple feet away. You turn back to them with a grin. “So what’re you guys’ majors?”
“Xuxi and I are both business majors.” Kun replies with a shrug. “I’m not really into it, more into editing and videography, which I do on the side.”
“I’m a theatre major.” Theres a faint pink hue that spreads across Sicheng’s face until he shrugs it off. “My parents wouldn’t let me go to acting school so this is the closest thing to that.”
You laugh loudly and shake your head at the two of them, already knowing you’re going to like them. “That’s really cool. I’m a bio major, but I might switch because it’s already getting hard and I don’t like that.”
Kun visibly cringes while Sicheng shrugs. The lighter blonde boy smirks at you, nudging Kun. “He failed intro to bio twice in his freshman year, it was pretty sad.”
You laugh again and when your eyes fleet across the room for a second, you catch Xuxi’s eyes. He turns back to you with another smirk.
“I don’t think I got your name.” Xuxi excuses himself from the girls before walking over to you without another word.
“It’s Y/N.” You give him an unimpressed look when he looks you up and down. He grins wolfishly.
“Thats a lovely name and, do I hear an accent?”
“Get her whole life story then her snapchat, bro, always works.” Kun scoffs and you grin at him. You pull out your phone towards Kun and Sicheng, away from Xuxi.
“Speaking of, can I get the both of yours?”
Both their eyes widen slightly before nodding and pulling out their phones and exchanging codes. Behind you, you can hear Ella and the girls hounding Xuxi for his snapchat and you release a sigh of relief.
Until Kun turns to the girls and asks for their usernames. Whilst Kun and Sicheng were getting the girls’ codes, it left you and yours truly free.
“So, Y/N,” Xuxi takes a few steps towards you, “my snapchats h-u-a-x-u-x-i.”
You raise a brow. “I don’t remember asking for it, do you?”
He looks confused for a second before his smirk grows. “You’re feisty, huh. Don’t worry, babe, I love a challenge.”
You scrunch your face in disgust, wondering how such pretty looks can be obscured by such a narrow personality. But before you could say anything, Ella’s voice calls Xuxi’s name and you sigh in relief.
“I’ll catch you in a bit, Y/N.” He winks at you while walking backwards and towards Ella. You wave with a fake smile before turning away with a roll of your eyes. You turn to Kun and Sicheng instead, enjoying their company much more than Xuxi’s.
Later that night you get a notification on your phone and its a request from none other than ‘huaxuxi’ himself. You nibble on your bottom lip for a few minutes before accepting it. And you already felt like you would regret this.
Xuxi: Kun spilled and told me your username :)
Y/N: tell kun i dont like him anymore
Xuxi: Does that mean you like me more?
Y/N: that would require me to like you in the first place :)
It only takes Xuxi a week before he realizes that you actually didn’t like him and decided that you thought of yourself too highly. From then came Top Bitch and the countless sneers and scoffs.
And thats just how it was for the both of you, never any different.
You’re sitting in the cafeteria with the girls when some of the NCT boys walk by, making you roll your eyes and sink in your seat lower catching a glimpse of who was there. But instead of walking up to your table, Xuxi just walks by and doesn’t even say hi making you furrow your brows.
“Did Xuxi just ignore me?” You mutter to Ella once he’s a good distance away. You keep looking at him sneakily behind her shoulder and when he catches your gaze, instead of smirk or wink, Xuxi glares at you. “Holy shit he just glared at me.”
“Maybe he gave up, isn’t that what you wanted?” Ella replies, shrugging at you.
“Yeah.” You say quietly, swallowing thickly when your throat goes a little dry. “Yeah, it is.”

It isn’t until that moment that you realized you completely ditched Ella. You groan and quickly pull out your phone from the back of your tight, strapless dress. Texting her where you were, you at least knew she would still be on the boat.
You put away your phone and sigh, leaning against the yacht railing and watching the moonlight play against the water, the full moon still bright and powerful. The cities colorful and lit skyline looks almost animated and magical.
“I’ve been looking everywhere for you!”
You turn your head to the sound of your best friends voice, Ella walking towards you with narrowed eyes. You sigh and shake your head.
“You wouldn’t believe what I went through.”
Ella raises a brow at you once she’s beside you. “Oh? Do tell.”
You nibble on your bottom lip and realize you didn’t even know where to begin. How do you tell someone that a magical, mythical Chinese fable about soulmates happened to you?
“Remember three years ago when we met Xuxi?”
Ella’s eyes get a bit widened, noticing the way you say his name without cringing. She nods and motions for you to go on.
“Why didn’t you ever go for him?”
“Oh, honey,” she sighs and rolls her eyes, “I tried. He was just too... preoccupied, I guess.”
“Preoccupied?” You furrow your brows and turn back to the view.
“Y/N, he was like hooked on you the minute he saw you. Theres no way you didn’t notice.”
You sigh loudly and face her with a stressed look.
“Do you see anything tied around my ankle?”
Ella gives you a funny look before looking down and confusedly on your ankle. “No? It’s too dark, here let me put flash on.”
You look down at the still half vibrant red thread that stood out in the darkness with a sigh. “Never mind, it’s okay.”
“Are you okay, Y/N?” Your best friend gives you a worried look, never seeing you like this before.
Your chin wobbles and you close your eyes. “Xuxi and I, we’re soulmates.”
Ella stares at you, waiting for you to shout ‘JK’ or to laugh it off. But your straight face doesn’t falter, making your best friends eyes widen.
“How do you know? Xuxi? Soulmates?”
Your eyes pull open and you sigh at her. “Its hard to explain but yeah it’s true.”
“Is it true to you though?”
You look at Ella’s face and hesitates before nodding a little. Now that you were apart from Xuxi, your mind was clear but there was an obvious divide. When you were with him there was electricity in the air, sparks flying from the slightest look. It felt like something else completely being around him, it felt nice. Inviting.
“Yeah, Ella, I do.”
⇝⇝⇝
Xuxi collapses on his bed with a loud sigh, already feeling his headache coming back. He knew you were walking further and further, spending three minutes earlier just watching the red thread twist and turn.
Theres no time for him to be alone with his thoughts as his best friend Sicheng walks in a few seconds later. “Xuxi, bro, why are you still in here? The parties outside!”
Xuxi sits up on his bed and rubs his hands over his face. “Have your parents told you about that myth about the red thread of fate? About the soulmates?”
Sicheng furrows his brows and gets up from his place where he was leaning against a desk table. His confused face was obvious, Xuxi never being the one to talk anything about love, feelings, or soulmates. “Yeah, why?”
“Its true, bro.” Xuxi sighs and avoids Sicheng’s eyes, focusing on the floor. “Y/N and I...”
Sicheng’s eyes snap down to the exact placement of the thread and he comes closer. “I don’t see anything, Xux.”
“Obviously.” The taller boy motions for the vibrant red string. “But Y/N and I definitely do.”
“No fucking way.” The other Chinese guy shakes his head staring at Xuxi’s ankle. Until a smirk blooms on his face. “Y/N, though? I’m not surprised.”
“Right?!” Xuxi groans and stops, realizing Sicheng said the complete opposite of what he thought the guy would say. “Wait, what do you mean? We hated each other.”
“In the whole three years we’ve known each other, Y/N’s the only girl thats been consistently in your life that isn’t family.” Sicheng shrugs and continues to smirk at the boy sitting on the bed. “Which is insane because, you know, it’s you. And I am now 30 dollars richer thanks to you and Mr. Kun.”
Xuxi completely skips over the second sentence once Sicheng finishes talking, turning to the boy with wide eyes and an incredulous look. “The both of you bet on Y/N and me?!”
“To date, yeah, but this whole fate thing is basically the same thing, right?” Sicheng laughs loudly and winks at Xuxi. “I’m joking, man. But, knowing Y/N, she isn’t too happy with this?”
“That’s an understatement. She’s outside getting air.” Xuxi lays back down with a groan. “When it went past midnight, its like my feelings towards Y/N flipped. I feel so different towards her, like, I don’t mind this whole... situation, you know? The whole soulmates thing?”
“Then what the fuck are you doing here?” Sicheng claps loudly, instantly pulling him out of his reverie and forces Xuxi on his feet. “Go and tell her that!”
“Are you sure?” Xuxi gives him a small look, not really knowing what to do in this position at all. He was used to girls but you were something completely different, not like any girl he’s ever dealt with. The last thing Xuxi wanted to do was piss you off, knowing how heated you would get.
“One hundred percent.” The shorter boy shrugs with a smirk. “When am I ever wrong, Xux? Now, go!”
Xuxi hurriedly runs out of the bedroom without a second thought, racing to find you. It was clear as day in his mind now, Xuxi realized that all these years of detesting you was nothing but a hoax, because if you were ever somehow out of his life; Xuxi wouldn’t know what to do.
He doesn’t stop to wink or talk to girls, only thanking and waving at the people who told him happy birthday. Xuxi was a man on a mission, racing through his yacht to get you.
“Y/N.” He gets to the front deck and slows his steps when you aren’t alone. Your best friend, Ella, he recognized, stood beside you with dear in headlights eyes. “Oh, shit, sorry, I thought you were alone.”
“Oh! Its okay, I was just asking about rides back home.” Ella laughs nervously, nudging you low key. “I’ll see you in a bit, okay?”
You nod and watch your best friend leave, not without throwing you a thumbs up and wink before she was gone. When its just you and Xuxi, the electricity is back and the headache is gone.
“Your headache stopped too?” You ask him and he nods at first before he realizes what you asked and Xuxi’s eyes widened.
“How did you know my head hurt?”
You shrug and the corner of your lips pull up. “Soulmate thing.”
Xuxi’s eyes focus on your smile for a second longer then bubbling laughter flows out of him. He takes some steps closer to you, reaching forward to hold your hand. Theres the feeling of pop rocks the second your hands touch and its addictive.
“The feelings aren’t fake or gonna fade in a day or two.” Xuxi clears his throat and blushes a little, the tops of his ears turning red. “They’ve always been there. This whole string thing just made me realize it.”
The moonlight, colorful city lights, and fairy lights decked throughout the yacht made this moment so magical, for the first time that night, you fully believed in the old Chinese wise tale.
“You piss me off a lot but I don’t know what I’d do without it.” You say with a shrug, smirking not long after. Xuxi chuckles and bites down on his lip, looking down at you.
“Are you willing to give it a shot, Y/N?”
You sigh and playfully roll your eyes, standing closer to him. “I guess I will, Xuxi.”
The red thread between the two of you dissolves almost all together the longer the two of you keep smiling at each other. Seconds later, fireworks go off in the backdrop and scares you, making you shriek and jump. Xuxi laughs loudly and holds you against his chest, watching the colorful lights in the sky.
“I forgot the fireworks went off at 2am.”
“Why 2 in the morning?” You laugh loudly, unable to stop yourself from clutching onto his chest to get closer. The warmth Xuxi gave off was so inviting.
“So people don’t forget it’s my birthday.” Xuxi smirks to himself, obviously proud of himself. You roll your eyes but laugh none the less.
“You’re unbelievable, Xuxi.”

Park Woojin Soulmate Au
Tumblr media
I wasn’t sure what to put on the collage, so it’s a bit make do, heh. Here’s Woojin~
• Your soulmate key is one of the rarest there is,
• Hundreds of years ago everyone was attached to their soulmate with a red string, their pinkies tied together,
• Only a few people could see the strings, and that’s where the trouble set in,
• Because there’s no fun if there isn’t any drama right?
• (That’s a lie, there’s plenty of fun in peace kids),
• The people who could see the strings where often forced to cut them and tie the wrong ones together by people who found someone who thought would be better than their soulmate, which always ended in heartbreak,
• Or to tell people who they were connected to, which cursed the couple,
• They were people considered as powerful as Royalty,
• But then fate caught on and decided it should mix things up,
• Children began to be born with no red strings, but other soulmate keys, ones that can’t be tampered with,
• Evolution at its best really,
• But there’s still a small amount of people who still have red strings, and one of those people happen to be you,
• In theory it’s the best soulmate key right?
• I mean it should be but nope,
• There still seems to be some people out there that cut the strings,
• You where in a maths class in your last year of school,
• I mean you where begging for a distraction from trigonometry,
• But you did not mean this,
• You where copying an equation when your hand jolted suddenly then the slight tension that was always there disappeared,
• You watched in horror as your string shrunk to just a frayed end tied to your finger,
• Either a complete douche had gotten bored and cut a random string,
• Or even worse, your soulmate had found someone they thought they could love more than you,
• (You don’t realise until later but maybe you don’t want a soulmate who’s that selfish),
• Your stomach felt like it does when you go into roller coasters, but there was no joy in this,
• Your throat seemed to close and you couldn’t breathe,
• All you could think was that you where never going to meet your soulmate,
• You’d heard stories of people like you, but it seemed so unreal,
• The person who was perfect for you, the person who you where made for, you where never going to meet them,
• Yeah, you didn’t go to school that week,
• You only went the next week because your friends told you there was a huge test, and you weren’t going to let your now non existent soulmate get in the way of good grades,
• Maybe you didn’t ace the test, but when word got around of what had happened, your teacher gave you some extra points,
• It was the first time you cried over it because it finally sunk in,
• When everyone would be growing old with their soulmate,
• (Or those people who don’t grow old until they meet their soulmate would be living life young)
• You’d be growing old alone, maybe with a few cats or a couple of dogs, and small army of hamsters,
• Okay maybe not totally alone,
• This would be the part when you would slip into a long depression, and start to live life as a recluse writer that only published heart break stories,
• As much as that seemed appealing to you, you literally couldn’t despite how much you tried,
• And you tried,
• (A girl’s allowed to feel sorry for herself okay),
• Your friends where always taking you to see a new film or to walk their dog or to go biking together,
• Or they’d sit silently in your room with you and simply reassure you with their presence,
• In a world that centers around romantic love, you found the magic in platonic love,
• Although there may be no key, you became a firm believer in platonic soulmates, because you’d definitely found yours,
• So yeah, you didn’t get to be a mysterious recluse, you carried life on like normal,
• Although you felt happy for 2 soulmates when they met, you couldn’t help but be envious as well,
• How could you not though?
• Don’t we all want things we can’t have?
• Everyone always does this thing where they apologize although they’ve done nothing wrong?
• It always makes you feel awkward and a lil sad,
• You just need to keep thinking that if you didn’t get cut off you wouldn’t have found the beauty of friendships so amazing,
• But one day you’re at a cafe waiting for a friend and you spot him,
• A boy who also has a red string,
• The first time you’ve ever seen someone with the same key as you,
• And that string is also frayed and snapped,
• You almost scream,
• Are you all cursed or something?
• You contemplate starting a support group but then you realise you’d have to attend and it puts you off,
• You sit yourself down in the chair opposite him, no plan at all,
• You would panic but it seems you’ve lost your mind so there’s no use,
• “So, how many times have you lied about your key to avoid questions and condolences?”
• Yeah you’re straight forward, but you’ve always craved to not have to tip toe around the subject,
• To talk do someone like you with no barriers,
• So you’re projecting your feelings into others, that’s totally healthy.  . .
• He looks up at you with complete confusion first, eyebrows scrunched adorably,
• But he looks so tired and lonely and your heart aches,
• But then his eyes drift to your pinky, where you’re swirling the snapped piece of string around your other fingers, something you always did you ground yourself,
• His eyes light up a little and he half smiles, you take it as a breakthrough,
• “I’ve lost count, you?”
• Not gunna lie, you nearly always do,
• But who tells the truth nowadays anyway?
• Not you, nope,
• The conversation doesn’t exactly flow, with brief gaps and silences, but it’s so refreshing to find yourself completely free to talk and relate to someone,
• You find out Woojin just woke up one day with his string broken,
• And he did take the recluse lifestyle,
• But you won’t let him continue no matter how easy it is to let him,
• You become someone your friends where to you,
• You constantly ask him on ice cream dates or to sleep round because you’re lonely,
• You found your tactic -
 • Woojin will do anything to make sure you don’t feel the same sadness as him,
• So if you say you’re lonely or feel lost
• (Which is only a lie 50% of the time)
• He’ll head straight over, and both of you benefit,
• You slowly manage to bring Woojin back to life,
• You remember the first time you got him properly laugh,
• You had begged him to go 2 person kayaking with you for weeks,
• (You said you had no one to go with and he gave in quickly enough),
• You guys where floating along until you thought you saw something in the water, leaned over to look and capsized the both of you,
• You Remember scrambling to get back into the small kayak, but stopping dead when you saw Woojin,
• He was clinging onto the boat opposite you and he just cracked up laughing,
• He has a snaggletooth?!?!?
• What is this angel music? Why had it been blocked for years?
• You’re ready to fight whoever cut Woojins string because his soulmate is seriously missing out,
• You feel awful, but your kind of glad his string was cut,
• From that point on you’re sucker,
• You bring Woojin back to earth and you discover he’s just a huge dork, not some mysterious figure,
• You’re sat on some swings, waiting to watch the sun rise because you’ve always wanted to and you dragged Woojin along,
• You watch the pink glow mix with the orange and blues and -
• “Hey Y/N, I’m not glad I got my string cut, but sometimes I think it’s not so bad anymore,”
• You cry and he panics and doesn’t understand but that one phrase means the whole world to you,
• It means you’ve brightened someone’s world to the point they don’t feel alone anymore,
• And it kind of knocks the breath out of you,
• The falling feeling you had since your string was cut decreases significantly and you feel happy,
• Well and truly happy for the first time in years,
• He wraps his arms around you as you cry with happiness, his warmth a comfort you slowly get used to,
• You don’t know what the love for a soulmate feels like, but if it’s anything like what you feel for Woojin it’s overpowering and incredible,
 • You two never discuss a relationship but you just fall into a conventional couples routine,
• You move in together and sleep in the same bed so you two never feel lonely together,
• You always tell each other you love each other, it isn’t labeled as which sort of love but it doesn’t matter,
• You snuggle under blankets and kiss each other sweetly, a physical contact that makes butterflies float in your stomach,
• You both aim to cheer each other up even when you need it yourself,
•Both total dorks together that joke and act like kids and although you had an old heart at a young age, you make each other youthful again,
• (Because you both deserve the happiness this soulmate au deprived you of),
• Sure you’re both a type of broken, but you’re broken in such a way you fit together anyway,
• Things aren’t perfect, you disagree and occasionally argue, but from this you get to enjoy the happy moments in a way people who never have downfalls wouldn’t understand,
• You may not be soulmates, but you still hold pieces of the other in your hearts,
• Maybe you have a different red string, one that tangles and knots, but is still there,
• You’re unconventional with no solid lines on what things mean or what you are to each other, people often don’t understand your relationship,
• But none of it matters when you no longer feel the loss or loneliness,
• Because you have someone to grow old with,
• And whether that’s romantically or something else entirely, doesn’t matter in the slightest
((I actually had a different version of this written up but then I deleted it all and started again, so here we are, hope you enjoyed~))

The Red String - Chapter 14
Author’s Note: Soulmate AU based on the red string of fate story. Ignis x fem!OC. Word count: 2764
Chapter Masterlist
Prompto went back to his room and beckoned Chandra to follow him. She had just finished smoothing down her hair. The shorter side always liked to stick up first thing in the morning, and so she was attempting to force it back down without resorting to hair products. She slowly shuffled to the room she was supposed to have shared with Ignis. She looked at Prompto, so many questions swimming in her eyes. He nodded towards the door, and she pushed it open. “Ignis?” She stepped inside and closed the door behind her. Prompto had said this was something the two of them needed to work out on their own.
Ignis rose from the foot of the bed. “Chandra? Oh, Chandra, I’m so sorry, I—“
She walked over to him and put a finger to his lips, cutting him off. “It’s alright Ignis. I understand why you were upset last night. Just please, let me speak first, okay? I’m going out on a limb here. I’m going to be entirely honest with you, which is something I’ve never done with anyone before. Not even Prompto knows the whole story. Just let me get this off my chest and then you can decide what you want to do. Okay?”
Ignis was perplexed. “If you insist.”
Chandra held his hand and led him back to the bed where she sat down and gently pulled him to sit down beside her.
“As I said before, I was born and raised in Tenebrae. I was a smart kid who excelled in the sciences and mathematics in school. My dream was to become a doctor. In my spare time, I did combat training. I have always been a smart ass and I’ve always been passionate about science. I never lied about any of that or anything else about my personality. I wanted all of you to actually know the real me without your judgment being clouded by my past.”
“I grew up in a modest household with my father and younger brother. My mother died in childbirth with my brother. I was three at the time, so I didn’t really remember her. I had some friends in school, but I spent most of my time studying. I was really close to my brother though, Gabe. He took up combat training as well, and the two of us trained together all the time. I lived a simple life and I loved it. But all of that changed when I was thirteen and Niflheim invaded.”
Ignis gulped. This must be where the tragedy in her life made its appearance.
“It had been about a year since the invasion. I was in school one day, working on a research paper, when these government officials from Niflheim arrived. They went straight for the headmaster’s office. No one knew why they were there. We were all scared because we all suspected what they had done to Queen Sylva when they first arrived in Tenebrae. Next thing I knew, the officials approached me and told me I had to come with them. At first I resisted, but the headmaster came in and strongly recommended I obey them. So I went. They had me take them to my home to speak with my father. They told him that they were recruiting young people with an aptitude for math and science because they were in great need of more scientists for their laboratories. The headmaster had said that I was the top student, and so they chose me. They were going to go to other schools to find more students, but I was the first one they found in the area. Immediately, my dad tried to object, but they made it very clear that this wasn’t a choice. It was an order. I didn’t even get to tell Gabe goodbye. He was still at school when I packed up my things and left.”
Chandra could feel the tears start to form in the corners of her eyes. She had never told another soul the next part of her story.
“Immediately I was taken to Gralea. I was placed in a class with other students. Most of us had been taken from our homes, but a few were children of NIflheim citizens who actually wanted to be there. We studied night and day, learning about science and technology. We were told that once we finished our training, we would be going to Zegnautus Keep to help with the Magitek program. At the time, I wasn’t exactly sure what sort of experiments were going on there. I also just thought MT’s were androids. I had no idea that they were actually raising people to become daemons and MT’s. How would I have known before then?”
“Once I learned more about what we would be doing. I rebelled. I skipped classes. I refused to go to my after school job at the factory where they made Magitek weaponry. I talked back to my instructors and superiors. I figured if I was a nuisance, they’d just kick me out. I knew they were turning humans into daemons, and I thought it was monstrous, but I didn’t think about the consequences of my actions. I was barely a teenager, mind you.”
“One day, I came to class and the room was completely empty. I started to walk back out, but Magitek troopers grabbed me and forced me into my seat. This official of some sort strolled in and glared at me. Behind him, some troopers filed in with a screaming prisoner. It was Gabe. I was thinking my family was safe back in Tenebrae, but Niflheim kept tabs on them. The moment I stepped out of line, the decided to use my family against me. I was terrified, thinking they were going to kill my own brother right in front of me.”
Chandra had started sobbing. Ignis reached over to grab her hand. She started to pull away, but decided to accept the kind gesture.
“Instead, they had somehow infected him with the Starscourge and were turning him into a daemon. It was a slow, agonizing process. I didn’t know when the process started, but I watched in horror as he transformed. He screamed the entire time and I pleaded for them to end his misery. They forced me to sit and watch and I was powerless to help him. When it was all said and done, they handed me one of my daggers. I thought I had smuggled them in without their knowledge, but they knew. They had only humored me. They released Gabe and he attacked me. He no longer knew who I was and he tried to kill me. I panicked and without thinking, I stabbed him in the throat. I laid there, covered in ichor. I had murdered my own brother!”
Chandra sobbed so hard she shook. “You don’t have to continue,” Ignis soothed as he rubbed her back. I think I get the story now.”
“But don’t you see?” Chandra wailed. “I murdered him! I was selfish enough to let my sense of self-preservation take over and I killed him. I should have just let him maul me to death. I deserved it. It was my fault he met that fate in the first place. I should have just followed the rules and bowed down to Niflheim like I was supposed to. Maybe he’d still be alive today.” She shook harder as sobs wracked through her body. Ignis continued to rub circles into her back, wondering how in the world Chandra managed to continue on after such a traumatic ordeal.
“After that day, I changed. I became obedient. I did all of my work. In fact, I excelled at it. I became one of the top junior scientists to graduate from the program. I went to work in the labs and yeah, I helped make MT’s. Sure, I never helped turn humans into daemons, but I helped with the MT technology. I helped fuel the destruction. You were right, I am a monster. But at that point, I felt like I had no choice. I had no one. I had nothing to live for. Niflheim broke me. I guess I could have given up and hoped they’d execute me, but even they knew killing me would be doing me a favor, and they weren’t going to be so generous.”
“What about your father?” Ignis dared to question.
“He took his own life. Losing my mother and my brother was too much for him and I was as good as dead at that point.”
“Oh Gods!” Ignis gasped.
“So, yeah. Now you know. I’ve been pretty numb inside. I’ve spent the last eleven years in Niflheim helping conduct all sorts of horrible experiments. I can still hear the screams of the daemons as we experimented on them. I still hear my brother screaming in my nightmares. Everything I did made me feel like less of a human, but I felt like at that point, Niflheim owned me, and I had to do as I was told or they’d find another way to break me. So I had to carry on. I buried myself in my sarcasm. I did my job. I didn’t exactly have friends in the lab. The one person I talked to regularly at work, Celine, is gone now. She transformed into a daemon just like most of the scientists probably did.”
Ignis pulled Chandra in for an embrace. She allowed him to crush her up against his chest. She inhaled that scent of Ebony and leather and found a tiny ounce of comfort as her breathing began evening out.
Ignis cleared his throat before softly speaking. “I’m sorry about the way I reacted last night. You have been through so much. You’ve seen hell and heartache—the kind that most people wouldn’t even wish on their worst enemies. You did what you had to do to survive, given your terrible circumstances. I can’t begrudge you that. My accident was not your fault. Yes, you may have helped create some MT’s, but you didn’t turn them on me. If anything, you saved me from dying, and for that I am grateful. Truly, I am. I care for you, Chandra, and I feel absolutely terrible for what all I said to you. You are not a monster. You are a victim. You blame yourself for what happened with your brother and what happened with me, and you shouldn’t. You are not at fault here. You’ve had to deal with unusually cruel people and it hasn’t been easy. I wish I could take away all of your pain. If you would allow me, I wish to get to know you better and spend the rest of my life trying to make this up to you.”
Chandra couldn’t believe what she heard, but she could feel the sincerity in every word. She let go of Ignis and stared into his face. His right eye was completely open and it felt as though he was staring directly into her soul.
“Thank you, Ignis, for listening and understanding. I want to get to know you better too,” her meek voice quivered.
Chandra felt completely drained. She was going to be dehydrated from all of the crying she had done in the past two days. She felt her head spin and she slumped against Ignis’s shoulder.
“Chandra, are you alright?” Ignis panicked as he touched her back.
“Yeah, sorry. I guess I’m just give out. Too much emotional shit, you know? Plus I hardly slept last night. I was upset over this whole mess. That and Prompto wiggles and talks a lot in his sleep.”
“Then please, rest. You may nap in here. It is our room, after all.”
“Okay,” she yawned. She couldn’t help but like the way he said “our room”. She collapsed back onto the bed and immediately started snoring. Ignis pulled the blankets around her and settled down beside her, staying on top of the comforter. At one point, she began whimpering in her sleep, but when he reached out to place a hand on her arm, she immediately stopped, let out a contented sigh, and began lightly snoring again. Chandra had been through so much, and yet, she continued on. He wanted nothing more than to stay by her side and continue on this journey with her.
**********
Once Chandra woke up that afternoon, she thanked Ignis for letting her rest. She noticed that he had stayed by her side the whole time, and she blushed at the thought of being in such close proximity to him. She hadn’t noticed before, but the pull between them was morphing into something more powerful.
Ignis could feel the pull between them blossoming as well, and he suddenly had an idea. Chandra offered to get lunch, but he needed to do this first.
“Before you go, may…may I see you?” he hesitantly asked.
“What do you mean? Is your vision actually coming back or something?” Chandra was confused.
Ignis softly chuckled. “No, I mean, may I touch your face? I can recall what you looked like from that day in Altissia, and I can vividly repeat every description of you that Prompto and Gladio have given me, but I want to see you for myself.” He slowly raised a hand towards her.
“Oh, yeah, go ahead. I’ll help.”
Chandra grabbed both of his hands and pulled off his silver driving gloves, setting them down beside her. She held both of his wrists and guided his hands up to her shoulders. “Start wherever you want. Just, remember, these are my shoulders. You want to travel north, not south. Go south and I may have to punch you.” She grinned.
“Don’t get overly grabby. Got it,” he smirked.
His left hand lingered on her shoulder as his right traced up her neck to her chin. She closed her eyes as he lightly traced her jawline from ear to ear. His hand moved to her left cheek and she could feel the heat rising to the surface of her skin as she blushed. This felt so intimate; she had never allowed anyone to be so close to her before. He felt along her cheekbone and moved upwards to her eye where he traced its outline before feeling up to her forehead. He then traced one finger down to her nose where he bopped her on the tip.
“Hey now” she giggled.
“Ah, just seeing if you were paying attention. I hope my movements aren’t lulling you back to sleep. You’re breathing is becoming steady and your eyes were closed.”
“Well I didn’t exactly want you poking me in the eyeball you know,” Chandra retorted.
“Touché.”
Ignis placed his right hand on her shoulder and lifted his left hand to trace the opposite side of her face the same as he did before. Instead of tracing back down to her nose, however, he ran his fingertips over her cheek and then moved back down to her chin. He caressed her chin and used his thumb to trace her cupid-bow lips. She couldn’t help but part them and let out a small sigh as he did so.
Ignis gulped. Touching her sent sparks through his fingertips. He could feel the heat rising from her cheeks when he began, and hearing her sigh made him weak at the knees. He couldn’t help himself. The pull that he first felt in Altissia was the strongest it had ever been. He was at its complete mercy. He couldn’t stop himself from leaning in and placing his lips against hers.
Chandra’s eyes shot open at the contact. Rather than pull away, she leaned closer and wrapped her arms around his waist. Ignis wasn’t expecting her to react in such a way, but it was a welcomed surprise. He cupped her face with both hands and deepened the kiss. That’s when he realized that the pull originated from his heart. Sitting there on that bed with her, he felt a mighty tug at his chest. Chandra felt it in her chest too. As they kissed, the force intensified, and it was as though something was wrapping them together, pulling them in impossibly close, and stitching them together. The red string of fate wasn’t a small red thread attached at their pinky fingers. It was a multitude of ropes stronger than steel, woven together from their heartstrings. They were being stitched together like a glorious, colorful tapestry. Neither had ever felt so in love and so complete in that moment.

Over the course of the next few months, many things took place. Chandra worked up the courage to speak to the human resources department at the large hospital at Lestallum. With all of Eos being plunged in darkness, chaos naturally ensued. With daemon attacks occurring more and more frequently, widespread devastation caused the population to abandon whole towns and small cities. Large masses were moving into well-populated areas, such as Lestallum. As a result, the hospital there found itself very busy but rather short-staffed. Through on the job training and additional classes, Chandra would be on her way to becoming a nurse in a short amount of time. It wasn’t a doctor, but it was a pretty good start. Her background in science put her at an advantage, and working in the hospital helped her save up some gil. With it, she was able to rent a tiny studio apartment in a building close to the hospital where many other medical workers lived.
Ignis threw himself back into a vigorous training regimen. Prompto and Gladio took turns sparring with him, trying to get him back to his former glory as a fighter. Many hunters continued with their usual hunts, but many switched to daemon hunting. Since daemon hunters were in high demand, the trio joined them, raking in the gil. Gladio and Prompto sometimes took on solo hunts, but Ignis didn’t quite feel ready to venture out on his own. Chandra would watch him spar with the guys sometimes. Though the thought of Ignis hunting solo scared her to death, she was confident that he would be ready with a few more months of training. He was already able to navigate the city without relying completely on his cane. It amazed everyone how easily he was adapting to living without his sight. He explained to Chandra that he had accepted the fact that his vision wasn’t going to return, so rather than wallow in his own pity, he would work that much harder to overcome his condition and live as normal of a life as he could.
Ignis shared a small flat with Prompto and Gladio in Lestallum. They split their time between there and the Hunter’s HQ in Meldacio. Though this meant that Ignis didn’t get to spend time with Chandra for weeks at a time, she didn’t mind. They all had work to do and gil to earn. She relished any time they did get to spend together, no matter what they did. Soon, Ignis began teaching her how to cook. Though he didn’t quite feel ready to throw himself back into the kitchen, he was an excellent teacher and was able to help her with recipes based on smell and taste. She had never been much of a cook growing up, mostly relying on the microwave, but with Ignis’s help, she was finally able to eat healthier.
Chandra had toyed with the idea of becoming a daemon hunter on her days off from the hospital. Ignis offered to help her train by sparring with her. He managed to obtain some wooden daggers for them to practice with at first since she didn’t trust herself with her old daggers. In the beginning, he easily took her out in a matter of seconds, but thanks to hard work and muscle memory, she reached a point where she could hold her own against him. He still beat her every time, of course, but she wasn’t so easily conquered.
Throughout the months, Ignis found himself completely and utterly in love with Chandra. When they weren’t out earning gil, they were together. Even if all they did was sit next to each other, not speaking, just sitting in comfortable silence while he unwound with music from a headset and she read to herself, they were perfectly content and in love. Neither of them had worked up the courage yet to say those three little words, but it was understood. They were soulmates, after all.
The pair had yet to go all the way in their relationship. Many times they had spent the night at each other’s places, but nothing ever transpired. Given Chandra’s past traumas, Ignis’s lack of sight, and both of their inexperience, they were reluctant to take the plunge. Both parties still suffered from frequent nightmares, so spending the night with each other was more about finding comfort and someone to confide in. Still, spending the night in each other’s arms began to keep the nightmares at bay, and so they relished finally being able to get a good night’s sleep. Awkwardness aside, the sexual tension between them was practically tangible, and the two did long to be intimate with each other, but the opportune moment just hadn’t come up yet.
One afternoon, Ignis found himself sparring with Chandra in a small field near her apartment complex. She had improved exponentially since they first started. As they came at each other with their daggers, he teased her by trying to distract her with conversation.
“Tell me again, why did a small, geeky thing such as yourself take up combat training? I thought Tenebrae didn’t have a strong military presence nor did it encourage it?”
Chandra grunted as she barely missed Ignis’s attack as he lunged at her. It was hard to strategize and talk at the same time and he knew she couldn’t multi-task the way he could, sight or no sight. “Ugh. They didn’t. The headmaster at my school encouraged a well-rounded education.” She lunged at Ignis only to have him block her move. “Dammit!”
He chuckled and retreated, allowing her to crouch down and catch her breath for a moment. “We were told that we could pick additional subjects, either in the arts, or athletics, or both. I tried to take as many science and math classes as possible, so I could only pick one. My dad thought I should try to play an instrument, and many of them intrigued me, but I didn’t want to grow up to be a shrimpy little nerd who couldn’t defend herself. That’s where combat training would come in. No one would expect it from me. I could be smart and a badass. We learned basic self-defense first, followed by various attack methods. We were told to pick a weapon to specialize in, so I picked daggers. I was little and I became fast, and so no one saw me coming. I can’t say the same for now. I’m still short, but nowhere near as quick.” She huffed as she stood up. “Why? What does it matter?”
“I was only curious,” Ignis answered. “You’re right. No one would expect this from you. I certainly didn’t. Are you sure you want to try your hand at daemon hunting though? You don’t want to injure yourself and wind up in the very hospital you’re supposed to be working in.”
“Do you not believe in me, Ignis?” Chandra’s temper flared a little.
“No, of course I believe in you, darling! I’m just merely worried about you; that’s all. You spend so much time with work already. I don’t want you to wear yourself too thin,” he explained.
“Oh,” she said, temper dying out. “And here I thought you were afraid of some competition. I thought maybe you were afraid of being such a good teacher that your student would surpass you and be a better daemon hunter.”
Ignis smirked. “You wish, love. You wish.”
With that, Chandra charged straight towards him, daggers at the ready. She swiped, only to be immediately blocked and rebuffed. She huffed and backed off, thinking of a better way to strike. As she ran at him again, he back-flipped out of the way. He somehow managed to quickly land on both feet and then strike back. She was barely able to block him in time. “Show off.”
“Well if you weren’t so predictable, darling, I wouldn’t have time to add in some extra flair,” he laughed.
They broke apart and she struck at him again, only to be blocked yet again. “Argh, how do you do that?! You fight better than my trainer at school did, and he had 20/20 vision!” She groaned.
“Well, for one thing, you aren’t exactly stealthy. Secondly, I’ve been doing this for most of my life, whereas you have not. Thirdly, you forget that I am training each and every day, with or without you, to be able to fight better without the use of sight, so I am already in much better shape than you think.”
“Still, I swear you’re unnaturally good at this,” she muttered.
“Why thank you. I hope that soon I can put my practice to good use and actually be able to bring in some bounty on my own. I’m sure Prompto and Gladio are sick of having to tag along with me.”
“You know they don’t mind,” Chandra reminded him. “They’re just looking out for you.”
“Still, all the same, I’d prefer to not have to rely on my cane so much and be able to fight on my own.”
“Well, at the rate you’re going, I don’t see why you can’t be where you want at the end of the year,” she admitted.
Chandra pushed all of her remaining strength into one final attack. She charged at Ignis and then feigned at the last second. She whipped around him and came up from behind with her dagger to hold it to his throat. She grinned, tasting victory, only watch in horror as Ignis turned around and knocked her off her feet with the sweep of his leg. She found herself suddenly pinned to the ground with him straddling her and his dagger pressed against her throat.
“Gotcha,” he mused.
She started to spew out a sarcastic response about fighting fair, but instead found the compromising position she was in rather interesting. Adrenaline was pumping through her body and her heart was racing. Rather than being upset about being beaten yet again, she was turned on by the way his body was pressed up against hers. The feeling was mutual because he threw his dagger aside and leaned down to press a kiss against her lips. His tongue ran against her bottom lip, and she sighed into his mouth as she parted her lips, allowing his tongue entry. She looped her arms around his neck as he ran his hands down her sides. The kiss went on for some time before Ignis broke away, scarlet beginning to spread across his cheeks.
He cleared his throat. “I apologize. I don’t know what came over me.” He scrambled off of her and held out his hand to help her get up.
Chandra sighed. She wasn’t ready for that kiss to end. “It’s okay, Iggy.” She reached for his hand and he helped her to her feet. She stared at him, heat in her belly and want in her eyes. This wasn’t the first time they had found themselves in such a position. Each time, one of them would end it prematurely and try to change the subject, neither of them ready to cross that line. She craved him immensely at that moment, but then she was hyper aware of just how sweaty and grimy she was and decided now wasn’t the best time, despite the urge being at its strongest yet.
“Ignis?”
“Yes, Chandra?” Ignis was well aware of the growing erection in his pants, but he wasn’t sure if now was the time to proceed with anything. They had just finished sparring and truthfully, he didn’t like the idea of his first time with her being tainted by sweat and dirt.
“Why…why don’t we call it a day with training? We can go home and clean up, and then, how about you come over for supper? I want to try out a new recipe.” She hoped he didn’t get the wrong idea. She wanted him, but not under the present circumstances. Maybe once they were cleaned up and more relaxed, something could finally happen between them.
“Of course, I would be delighted. I cannot wait to see what’s on the menu for tonight.” He wasn’t sure if he meant to say that like he had ulterior motives, but the phrase came out that way. He really hoped Chandra hadn’t picked up on that. But she did. And she definitely didn’t object.
