Getting new Wilbur music after a year (let alone getting a new album from him after YCGMA) is an amazing way to end my year and I highly implore all of you to go listen to it

i know some people say that he relies on fans too much but i don't think you'll say that if you see the genuine emotion on his face while talking about fans and the support he's received over the years and how much we've done for him. the sheer overwhelm and gratitude on his face as he spoke about how if it weren't for the fans and how much we boost him up, he wouldn't have moved from the sound of walls to the sound of faith in the future, which to be fair are miles apart and takes some artists years to move between genres. he's well aware of how the industry has betrayed him but he's truly reached a point where he does what he does for the people who love him and no one else and i'm so proud of him for that. i know in this industry radio play and awards and public promo matters, but to see him talk about us has made me realise that to him success means that his music was loved by his fans and everything else is just a bonus. he was sat there, a full few weeks after his album going number one, and he still couldn't believe it. he looked like he didn't know how else to say thank you, and like words were falling short for the amount of gratitude he wanted to express. being in the crowd last night made me realise just how much he values the artist-fan relationship he's built with us and he wants to keep working towards keeping this connection strong and tight knit and creating this community together 🫂🤍

why is pete wentz important to me?? like him, i was a non white kid who grew up in a very white neighborhood in the chicagoland area and it was exhausting and isolating and so so so lonely it could make your teeth hurt. like him, i’m bipolar and no one has ever quite gotten close to describing what my highs and lows are like, but he’s the only one who has gotten close. (do you know what it's like being so so so manic and you know you're not okay and everything rushes around you and you feel like you're on top of the world but you know it's all a lie? an illusion? do you know what it feels like to plummet down so so so so deep and dark and there's nothing but you and that gaping ache inside of you, reminding you just how hollow and fake you are?) like him, i grew up enthralled and obsessed with rock, punk, the hardcore scene of chicago, and there was nothing and no one there for people like me and people who looked like me in a place and sound that i loved more than anything on earth. i saw him reflected in me and in the most non creepy parasocial way possible, he has been one of the most incredible influences of my life. maybe even one of the possible sunshines of my lifetime for all he is still a stranger to me, and i to him.

Regardless of my opinion about the song itself, the new Unleash the Archers video is making me a bit rabid to see them live again. Their shows are fucking killer. Plus, Brittney and Scott were very sweet when I got a chance to chat w/ them at a merch table a handful of times.
Also, last week's new releases didn't quite grab me so I never did a ramble about that lol. Really hard to top that Isenordal album...

Eddie Month 2023:
☆ Day 23 (Mixtape)
"I can see your fire from light years through time,
like a star that died before it ever graced my eyes
Oh, slipping through my fingers (fingers, fingers)
Oh, how your presence lingers (lingers, lingers)" - from 'Microscopic Fibers (dying star)', the sleeper hit off Corroded Coffin's critically acclaimed sophomore album Momento Mori Motel (1989)
