listen there really was just something about how in the book, snow’s 3-page descent from hesitant lover boy to deluded psychopath happens entirely in his mind. lucy gray gives him no indication whatsoever that she suspects him, that she’s going to leave or betray him. he’s just sitting quietly in the cabin waiting for her to return when that seed of calculated suspicion, which he has needed to survive the capitol, takes a hold of him and chokes the life out of any goodness left inside him. it really drives home your terror as a reader that “oh my god did he kill her? did she escape? what happened to her? why would he even think that?” in a way that when the movie had to adjust for visualization it lost some of that holy shit this guy has lost it emphasis.

The scene was powerful in the book, but there was just something about watching reaper collect the bodies of the dead tributes in the arena. The way he removes the weapons from their hands, lays them out nicely, giving them the smallest bit of dignity in death. The contrast to the capitol gasping in shock as he pulls down the flag, not in rebellion, but in mourning. The way mourning in the hunger games IS an act of rebellion. “How are you going to punish me now?” The feed then immediately cutting to the news of the death of one capitol boy, whose death will be avenged upon those who had nothing to do with it. Only certain deaths are allowed to mean anything. God. Suzanne Collins knows what she’s doing.

something something shooting a gun together as a metaphor for our powerful but destructive love, something something you figured out the one thing I wanted more than anything else in the entire world and you got it for me and it's perfect

No offense, but the new tbosas poster is kinda ugly. It has one redeeming feature tho.
Look at the leaves at the bottom
It's the katniss plant.

moments in the TBOSAS book where Snow was a good guy
When he waited at the station all day to meet Lucy Gray before everyone else.
When he held Arachne's slit open throat at the zoo and yelled for a medic to help her
Whenever he tried to uplift Sejanus during the mentoring.
When he told Lucy Gray that she mattered to him. And not just as his tribute.
When he put both his and Clemensia's name on the paper he wrote to Dr Gaul.
When he held onto Clemensia when she saw the snakes in the arena and later when he apologised to her for not visiting her at the hospital.
When he apologises to Tigris before leaving to district 12 for leaving all of the responsibilities on her.
How he always went to see the Coveys with a gift even when he had next to nothing.
When he offered to carry Maude Ivory back from the lake.

Guys I am absolutely frothing at the mouth
I just finished my copy of shakespeare’s coriolanus and this is going to sound insane but i am completely convinced that the role that sejanus fills in the story of tbosas (whether intentionally written by suzanne collins or not) is that of virgilia (coriolanus’ wife).
They have so many parallels i'm not even joking
Virgilia is uniquely the only Roman character in the entire play that dislikes violence
Virgilia is constantly seen as pathetic by the other characters because of her refusal to engage or rejoice in the spectacle of war ei: She never views corionlanus’ wounds as something to glorify or marvel at the way menenius and volumnia do.
They also see her as pathetic because she's deeply loyal and devoted to coriolanus even though coriolanus never returns the same level of affection and only ever chooses to protect his pride and only reserves his respect and admiration for another person (aufidius/lucy gray)
Virgilia’s influence on coriolanus is extremely minimal compared to volumnia (dr. Gaul) and she's always treated as an afterthought compared to the other people in his life. He also readily condemns her and their child just to achieve his own means
In conclusion SEJANUS IS VIRGILIA CODED
