oh good i get to talk about my son!!

my blorbo my beloved my babygirl he means everything to me

i made him in 2017 so hes sort of grown up with me (or i've grown up and realised things about him that i couldn't have when i was younger. i have so many complicated feelings abt this that i made a short comic about it last year)

to preface this im not a great writer dont expect good writing from me lol all i have is my personal experience and stealing tropes from stories i like

(got a lot to say so its all going under the cut. also a lot of death mention)

So. who is this dude

Tsuru (not his real name in-story, i havent come up with one im happy with), 18 years old, a ghost

he has a little sister, Ori, 15, who was meant to be my sona but then i just drew him more and like drawing him more anyway

first 2 drawings i ever did of him. he was based off natori natsume yuujinchou at this point, i dont remember why or if i even liked natori that much, but i remember distinctly hes based off him

u may have noticed he sort of looks older in my older art. this is because first of all art style drift lol but also as ive gotten older ive figured out that 18 isnt actually that old.

theres also a black haired version of him (two actually) its basically something like this ⬇️

important to know that everything about this dude is a convoluted metaphor

i lovingly summarize white tsuru as "people pleaser" and black tsuru as "nihilist prick" in my head and those are the things consistent throughout all the AU versions of him

(important differences only to me) alive tsuru doesnt act like black tsuru at all thats just his warped self perception (he also doesnt act exactly like white tsuru either)

also alive tsuru has black eyes and the shortest hair, black tsuru has blue eyes and slightly longer hair (also white tsuru is slightly taller than both of them)

if they all existed at the same time they would hate each other on sight but fortunately (unfortunately?) he is just 1 dude with issues

the general vibe is white tsuru is the "yippee floaty trickster" brand of ghost and black tsuru is the sort of ghost in horror media that stands just outside your field of view in the darkness dripping with blood

for the longest time only white haired tsuru was a "character", "black haired tsuru" existed just as his corpse at most, a footnote

but over the past 2 years ive figured that hes actually really fun to draw and play with, and in a different way than white tsuru

(wait fuck isnt this just abe trio. i do always almost accidentally draw tsuru when im trying to draw haruaki.... fuck.....)

(ive had tsuru for long enough that i just keep tacking details from my fav characters onto him.....)

halls smp

so ive been on this minecraft roleplay server called halls smp with other artists for the past 2 years, theres a new season of it every few months with a different theme each time to keep things fresh and ive just been making AU versions of tsuru for it so ive had a lot of opportunity to think about him

season 1 - halloween - jiangshi tsuru

this one is almost entirely unchanged from his base characterization because i didnt want to rp too much and also didnt know there would be future seasons at this point (also basically after the first day i gave up on being called "tsuru" bc its too hard to pronounce and everyone called me canada anyway)

same basic story, guy dies and theres now a white haired version of him (actually this is the same for all the AUs). in fact im pretty sure the black haired version of this one is exactly base alivetsuru. basically what ive been interested in exploring is different kinds of death, the events leading up to it, and what kind of person he becomes afterwards (but also in equal amounts im interested in making fun designs and playing minecraft and fucking around)

(this feels like the start of the beginners guide...)

i associate him with doves and at the time, tarot card 18: the moon, but in retrospect i now think he's card 0: the fool.

season 2 - winter - ishmael

guy who died at sea and eaten by a interdimensional whale and got isekaied. loosely conceptually based off moby dick, although i havent actually read it LOL but i did spend a week reading up on drowning and hypothermia

strangely, his death didnt create a white haired version of him, perhaps because he didnt have anything in life to give up his identity and replace it with. (and also remember the hair color doesnt actually mean dead/alive)

im only calling him ishmael now in retrospect, at the time he was just tsuru/canada

while designing him i had the biggest crisis bc i didnt want him to look to much like this old old oc i had (pic 1) but then i sucked it up and went with it anyway

i never got around to drawing it but his fingers are black from frostbite thats why he wears gloves all the time.

hes one of my favorite iterations of tsuru he looks so mad or upset all the time it makes me want to tease him, and also i think the grey skin and eyebags are very cute

i associate him with whales and tarot card 18: the moon

season 3 - golden grove - fox tsuru

honestly i think this is my favorite design of him i kinda popped off. i think im just a lot more comfortable working with warm colors. and also i associate white tsuru with foxes anyway (black tsuru is totally a catboy btw) (why is he not associated with cranes if his name is tsuru you ask?? bc cranes are hard to draw next question. he did start out based off cranes tbf, thats where the white hair and the tallness comes from)

dead fox possessing his dead human friend's body (although thats only the most literal interpretation of events; in all these iterations there's only ever been 1 person) the white tsurus are mostly interested in "moving on", whatever that means to each of them

hes sort of a set with s2 tsuru to me, mostly bc theyre the ideals that "white tsuru" and "black tsuru" hold taken to the extremes, and also theyre on opposite ends of the "hates people hates talking" and "loves to talk and mess with people" scale

anyway. hes tarot card 10: wheel of fortune to me

season 4 - wild west - mirage

the desert dragon, mirage. this is the season i started giving them actual names that arent "tsuru" and putting actual thought into the story lol previously it was just vibes-based character design. i have a short thing written about him thats meant to be the script for a comic, but i never got around to drawing it.

a sandworm-esque dragon that got tired of being a dragon and took up a passing witch's offer to give him a human form. this is all a metaphor i think. he has longer hair bc i wanted to spice things up a little

(also i consider this a form of death bc he left behind a giant sandworm/dragon skeleton somewhere in the desert)

the mirage-dragon thing comes from the shen 蜃 (which is used in the chinese word for mirage, 海市蜃楼 haishi shenlou, literally translating to "ocean city and shen's castle"). it's a clam-like dragon that produces foam that creates mirages over the ocean.

if u read "even if you slit my mouth", this is what the "shinkiro" or "shin" in recent chapters is. (i had one of those "smug because i already know all about the mythological creature a story is referencing" moments, which i also had with the four gods in yohaji bc i used to translate a game that mentioned them too)

isnt it romantic in a way? that the two places mirages are most known for happening are the ocean and the desert.

i dont have too much art of him because around this time i was uhhh (checks calendar) got back into yohaji and got consumed by it for a couple months lol (can u even blame me. it was july to september that was when like chapter 91 came out lol)

an earlier version of his design that i didnt end up using but i still really like this art

hes tarot card 9: the hermit to me

season 5 - fairytales/medieval - ophiuchus

NO FUCKING WAY YOURE NEVER GOING TO BELIEVE THIS for this one i actually ironed out what kind of people the black haired and white haired versions of him are. and also specifically this one isnt black tsuru but alive tsuru

i have a short poem thing about him, to summarize its like so many other fairytales about grateful animals granting their saviors something, but it doesnt end well for anyone

hes based off ophiuchus and asclepius of course, but also a lot of other snake stories in general, like the lindwurm and baishezhuan

to reiterate, for none of these stories do i consider there to ever actually have been 2 separate people, its always just 1 fucked up guy

i also sort of consider him to be a set with mirage, for both being serpents, and also for being "black tsuru whose personality is like white tsuru" and "white tsuru whose personality is like black tsuru", thereby codifying for myself that to him, someone who's stuck in his own head a lot, what matters most to him is his ideals, what all his actions are in pursuit of

he's tarot card 12: the hanged man to me

bonus: dnd character - alba

i also have a version of him i play for dnd, named alba to match with my party who all have color themed names. a halfling ranger who's very small and very loud. except he has amnesia and cant remember anything from before he was 12 (hes around 18 now according to him), including that he's actually a changeling who just transformed into a halfling to seem older than he is to work at a bar and nearly died in a bar fight.

(if you spend as much time fretting over semantics as me, you may note that changelings are medium sized and cannot transform into halflings which are small sized, for which my explanation is that he's been in halfling form since he was a kid, and after the amnesia he thought he actually was a halfling. this is also why his hair is white btw bc changelings have white hair. pre-amnesia in his "actual" halfling transformation he had black hair. i care too much about semantics but hey isnt dnd the semantics game anyway?)

anyway congrats alba for being the only version of tsuru that hasn't outright "died"!! if only because dnd has actual rules and i can't pull my usual death-ghost nonsense as easily!!!

hes very ship of theseus to me, all versions of him are. what makes up a person? what defines them? is it their face, their appearance, their name? their personality, their memories, their ideals? if you slowly replace each of those, one at a time, with a copy thats very similar to the original, at what point are you a different person?

as thanks for reading all of this i'll reveal what some of the metaphors are, the core of who tsuru, as a character, is to me. maybe this is fairly obvious, but all the death and personality weirdness stuff is a convoluted metaphor for depression and autism, as well as the experience of reading the things you've written years ago, seeing old photos and others talking about who you were years ago and finding that person wholly unfamiliar, that you understand the thought process of that person no more than you would a stranger's, as a result of having taken apart your identity and replaced it piece by piece with things from people you like more than yourself.

im always scared of scrutinizing tsuru too hard because he's just a weird reflection of myself, and i think i'll only be able to write a version of him thats more of a "whole person" once i figure that out for myself. the only way you see your own reflection is through a mirror after all, a flattened 2D surface.

haha this got kinda weird and depressing and personal at the end (mostly bc ive been writing this in the middle of the night, its now 4am)

after seeing my soul laid bare like this, if theres one takeaway, i think its pretty obvious why i'm so enamored by the parts of yohaji that i talk about often (huh wasnt this a post about my oc why did it become about yohaji)

oh yeah i just realised u probably also wanted to hear more about my yohaji version of tsuru specifically. honestly theres not really more to it i just like drawing him in situations. like of course the same themes apply but i just like drawing this dude thats 90% the reason hes my sona. like heres a pokemon au of him i drew recently bc i wanted to draw them as kids and also as pokemon gijinkas

anyway thats all. not really bc i could go on and on about him but this is way too long and also way too personal at this point. i think about him a disproportionate amount, i only have 2 other ocs i remotely care about and the extent of my thoughts for those guys is "i think hes fun 👍"

this has probably also been like, the 3rd most comprehensive description of tsuru that ive made, 1st being the thoughts in my head and 2nd being the past 5 years worth of DMs with my friend who i talk about tsuru with

(why was this sort of structured like the beginners guide. if youve seen the beginners guide tell me if im right or delusional. if u havent, go watch a playthrough of it, have an existential crisis, and then afterwards tell me)

I hope it's okay to ask but I've seen the phrase a bit, what does yume mean in the context of like, these are yume drawings, or I also saw Kieran yumes?

idk how to explain after waking up to this message hours ago but here's my thoughts:

"i drew so much yume drawings of kieran that i'm too embarrassed of myself to even see them, but at the same time i'm happy i get to draw these out!"

yume is the opposite of fujo/fudan, where instead of shipping two characters together (specifically the same gender), you ship one character with... well... whoever you want it to be LOL (typically it's just your oc, sona or self-insert.... 💀)

very much like fujo/fudan, however, is that yume is frowned upon by general public since it feeds to someone's delusion, hence it's often associated with cringe, but personally i turned it as my coping mechanism for my emotional needs, and it certainly helped me in maintaining my state of well-being for years now

so long as you don't go harass someone over having the same fav character as you, being yumejoshi/yumedanshi isn't that bad, and it certainly helps to contribute more to your emotional (or mental) well-being 👍👍👍

(also don't take this as professional advice, this is just my own personal experience.... 😭)

I am so sorry for the people who followed me I completely forgot abt this acc

But anyway

I made a lil’ thing.

SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TW!!!!! I mention lots of violence, lots of cussing, lots of mentions on injections, i trauma dump for a bit (I think), uh, uh, uh, yeah. That’s it. Lmk if I needa add more.

It’s complicated but I was wondering what it’d be like if my sona was a miguel variant!

He looks a lot different each drawing I make of him due to me playing around with styles so keep that in mind that consistency is nonexistent to me.

I hope this reaches the right ppl lol

I was a little nervous to show this to such a big fandom but then I remembered this is tumblr! I can do whatever, be cringe, and survive!!!

So here’s this, it’s all gonna be under the cut cause I took this as an advantage to geek out lol (a blessing and a curse)

Okay! So! His face, right.

Facial features.

This face. I did a lil’ sheet of him with and without glasses. He looks scared but bare in mind this is technically my sona and if you know me almost all of them I make are in this constant state of anxiety, and this is my way of projecting. So shhh.

In contrast to Miguel’s heightened sense due to the injects, Perry’s senses are erratic. This man’s vision gets worse TENFOLD. I’m already blind as is irl (that’s sarcasm) and the injections being unpredictable due to this dude’s like. Whatever, it makes it WORSE. Also the overstimulation is BAD with him.

As a reference to Miguel’s slicked back hair, he has his hair behind his ears. It’s a habit he does and will often fidget with his hair by constantly tucking it behind his hair and he refuses to tie it up.

Build/suit

This man is somewhat chubby but all that action will definitely muscle him out. Here’s him in the suit btw.

I think he would wear clothes overlapping the suit but because it’s like holographic and emits SO MUCH HEAT, he can’t do it during summer.

Cause imagine how hot that thing is!!!

I’ve seen the speculations that miguel could be very well naked underneath that suit, and I’ve seen how it’s like a running joke, like sure, it’s funny

BUT IMAGINE WEARING THAT THIMG EVERYWHERE WITH NO A/C!!! NO FANS!!! I imagine it being just as bad as wearing fursuit during summer (not coming from experience, but I see the struggle)

It must be super hot! I don’t know how but it LOOKS like that thing just RADIATES heat.

But no, my sona isn’t naked.

Venom

And the little fangs ref is from me being half asleep and dreaming while being awake somehow, and I guess I drew that??? Who knows.

He has natural fangs but the injections 100% make them more pronounced.

I’m not gonna overpower him and make his venom more dangerous but I’d say in addition to paralyzing his opponents, it also causes skin irritation.

Just picture it.

You’re can’t move and have to wait it off, but, your skin starts itching. It gets itchier and starts to burn BUT YOU CAN’T SCRATCH IT!!!

So you’re just laying there like “AAAAAAAA” cause then you’re worried it’ll blister, (it won’t), and you can’t check cause you can’t move!!!!!

I’m an evil genius I know 🤓

Being bit by him would be the equivalent of having to use your teeth cause no matter how many times you scratch that one part of your hands as a kid (even as now) it wouldn’t stop itching!

Character personality/arc/dev

This part was trickier. I didn’t know if I wanted to make him completely different from canon or make him similar but not too similar. It was hard.

So I focused on small traits I knew I wanted him to have.

And I think I went bonkers.

Uh yeah. I told you the art style changes quite a bit.

I think this man would love to see Miguel’s year but not long enough to figure out all the futuristic stuff. He’d be an iPad peepaw 😞

Also I’m half Samoan myself irl, so I wanted to sprinkle in that Samoan rep in this. I see little to none in most of the media I explore around, and it makes me a bit sad but if there’s like an explanation lmk.

I know there’s some Polynesian rep in the community, just not as much as I like, so here I am adding to that in pride of my own culture. (I’m still doing research on it as someone who isn’t all that connect to my heritage so it’s not good rep but bare with me, I’m getting there. As these reference pages evolve so will the rep.)

I like making a lot of these sonas so I might remake this one in particular.

I figured I’d give him a more animated character while keeping miguel’s stoicism and attitude, so here’s the characteristics I did wanna give him.

Moody. Has mood swings due to various reasons but for Miguel’s character’s sake we’ll leave it vague.

Constant state of worry and paranoia. I have been showing signs of paranoia so I’m not pulling this one out of my ass, but I do see miguel showing signs of it during high stress. It’s a headcanon I have, but I’d imagine what years of being aware of the fact there’s more people like you in a whole strand of endless possibilities, and one of them is where you’re a fictional character and being conscious of that 4th wall, it can cause you to think some stuff.

Opinionated. That’s. That’s it.

Sassy. He’s so zesty and for what lmao.

Smartass and witty. I imagine him having huge yelling matches with miguel if they were to ever meet, but in the end would get along like an old married couple. Would miguel even remotely like him? No. Not even close. This man would HATE my sona. My sona would hate him back, but as someone who’s had yelling matches with other people he’d prolly be like “damn. I can respect that.” But wouldn’t DARE to tell miguel.

Intelligent. Yeah, he would’ve been better off being an art student or a lawyer, but because of the whole canon event he had, he’s stuck as spider-man. His civilian wear is a lot more cozy in duality to him being spider-man.

Forgetful. I imagine him going to the shop and just going “shock! I forgot to change!” And he’s already almost done with his grocery list in his spider-man suit so the people there are just like, “OMG SOIDERMAN WHAT R YOU DOING HERE???”

So uh, there’s that. One last thing I’d like to add is that I may or may not have studied Miguel’s character just for his personality and to take inspo.

I think it’s clear I don’t take him seriously lol

I also think this man would have bad nightmares since I do (fun fact! I don’t dream. It’s constant nightmares) and because of that this man would 100% sleep with a nightlight and some background noises of crowds talking bc nostalgia is the best medicine.

But it gets awkward at other people’s houses and he’s afraid to ask so he ends up staying up all night in pure terror of his nightmares. His nightmares are enhanced due to his senses. (For me, it’s imagination and having a constant active mind, but since this is my sona and I don’t have an arc for him, it’s gonna be bc of the injections.)

I think he’d be just as gay and trans as me.

Being in a big multiverse, I think he’d learn quickly that life is just too short to live while being worried of the norm and what others think.

There’s two different types of social anxiety (<- sarcasm) and he has both.

My sona would be very touch starved so he isn’t used to stuff like hugs and will often become flustered! It’s cute imo but gawd damn!!! Someone cuddle this boy and tell him he’s alright

LYLA!!!!!

His lyla would prolly be named lyla too. I think she’d just be a bit of a prototype.

But perry loves her like best friend. his lyla would be the lesbian in the dynamic while perry doesn’t care what gender you are, just please don’t use his coffee mug or mess with his pile of endless papers.

I also think he’s chose her own outfits and hair styles so while sure I’ll have her in pigtails to give movie lyla’s playfulness and duality a moment recognition. But you’ll also see her in black hairstyles with actual hair texture as her avatar varies cause I made her black for 1) practice and 2) just cause. Okay? Okay. (keep in mind i’m HORRIED with fashion. So I have no idea what I’m talking abt with her character design. You’ll have to learn with me and realize that I’m pretty much clueless on how the color wheel works, so be patient plz. I take constructive criticism tho btw.)

I think his lyla would be bossier and a lot more chatty. She’d sit there and rant about whatever information asked for and because he has ADHD this lyla would involuntarily speak like she has it too, but wouldn’t really show signs of it. If she were humanized i think she’d prolly have autism more than she would ADHD but because he works under conditions he prefers, he might make her a little all over the place cause I myself rlly hate routine and familiarity is hard for me to let go of in a certain way, so I think lyla would indirectly be made to where only he knows what works and what doesn’t with the important stuff

If miguel were to ever switch lylas he’d go crazy with this one. This lyla would stare at miguel like he’s speaking some other language since my sona would probably start with some bestie banter before getting into business so if miguel were to just start barking orders at her she’d be like “Uhm. Excuse me? 🧍” she’d put him in his place as she does with my sona but at the end of the day she’s still an AI so it doesn’t get so bad to where she can’t function and can’t get work done.

She would prolly have to remind my sona the time and other stuff like that cause if the forgetful factor but considering she has social skills my sona does, she’d prolly end up talking about something else entirely but at the end of the conversation she’d always remind him.

My sona would 100% giver her a stupid nickname like “android” or for shits and giggles a more human name “Andrea” and wouldn’t tell lyla abt it, but secretly whenever he’s talking abt lyla to civilians and family he’d refer her as “Andrea” for laughs but since it’s not in lyla’s code SHE’D HAVE NO IDEA!!!

I know it’s canon that lyla is canonically a small bit sentimental and somewhat secretly crushes on miguel in the comics (correct me if I’m wrong) but I’m p sure that happens and to that I say, she wouldn’t even remotely like my sona in that way, I see these two more as siblings in this universe than I do with the originals, so these two variants are seen as siblings and often times act like so!

Universe headcanons

I think what would separate the two from each other is my sona’s world would be a lot closer to what the 90’s kids thing we’d have in modern day society much rather what 2099 would have.

Like if you were to ask a kid from 1995 or something about what they think would happen and they said “flying phones” then so be it, bam it exists now lol

That’s just an example.

So it’s like what the 60s-90s predicted, or tried to, but a lot more realistic and the economy is better by 6%. Which isn’t a lot, but by today’s standards, it might as well be.

I like to think that his universe is WAAAAAAYYYY more diverse.

A lot more necessary items would be more available.

I also think my sona would be from the capital of oregon, Salem, much rather New York just because oregon has a special place in my heart.

This man’s civilian life is boring.

Before he was spider-man, I’d imagine him as an art guy. When he had time for it and used it as a job.

He’d probably be an artist with a psychologist degree. Which, yes, far from each other, but he uses it to the best of his ability to combine the two things.

Transportation would be funky, as flying cars would technically exist, but man would it make traveling easier.

Money would work the same way since I don’t really know how to make systems that would work out for the futuristic shit 2099 would offer, at first glance it seems a lot of it costs a lot, so I’d imagine it being a struggle.

And in any case, this also means my sona’s lyla isn’t his! This man stole got it from his brother.

My sona had two brothers as a reference to my own brothers, but for purposes of staying true to Miguel’s character (which I have not been doing well at doing) he’ll have to stick to having 1 that’s consistently mentioned. Which brother? I have decided to keep that vague.

End.

In conclusion: I just needed to rant abt this character and have been anxious to post abt him since this means a number of things and because I saw a bunch of other people come up with this idea many times before, but I really wanted to make this a thing since it’s been in my head nonstop.

Admittedly I thought abt this idea before I saw everyone else’s ideas, but after seeing them all I was super scared to post my version, but after some consideration i figured I’d just take down the post no problem if it comes down to it.

I don’t really like miguel as a person (this is not miguel hate/slander in any way), but man, he’s a great character. Like, sure. He’s an asshole with too much of an ego to save himself, which I’ve noticed is a running joke in the fandom.

But after seeing the script, I’ve noticed that this man is just misunderstood. Miguel is nothing more than an antagonistic hero who has nothing better to do than do what he views as right.

What he did is unforgivable, but it makes sense.

I will forever stay by Miles’ side of the whole plot, but it made sense why miguel would go to this extent. (Not saying he’s in the right. Miguel really isn’t and his cut and dry reasoning to why he does shit ARE NOT valid reasons as it’s completely unreliable, but if I were in his shoes and trying super hard not to fuck shit up, I’d PANIC.)

His biggest flaw is getting too caught up into the past and using his trauma as a reason for everything he considers logical, just to get by and help others the way he needs that help. The way he thinks is help for everyone, or the way he thinks is best TOO help.

Using trauma bonding (which is implied) to then “help” others to “not make the same mistake”, being so fixated on it to the point you can tell he hasn’t had human contact in any normal way for a while.

This also may explain the touch starve and touch adverse headcanons going around the miguel tag.

In a way, I admired miguel in that sense. He was like me, just if he was a bit grumpier.

He acted how I used to, and his shame was just as matched as it was with trauma.

And I felt that.

So, I decided to make a sona based off him. I promise I’ll make a more original one, but for now have this miguel rip-off.

While I hate miguel, I also respect his character as a whole.

(And because of the arguments of opinion and mischaracterization, no. This isn’t canon, this is my interpretation. And no, I will not demonize him just because I hate him. I honestly think he deserves just as much good as miles does, but miles needs a lot more attention as of recent events.)

Was gonna draw Gar from pure memory, but took a sneak peak and saw the new way Snakey is drawn, and decided to implement it.

As far as "Zeffra" and "Sphinx" goes... it's complicated. Both are my sonas... and both are called "Zeffra" XD

But where "Sphinx" (the feline) is my pure Sonic sona (made exclusively as a character that interacts with the Sonic Universe and lives in the desert and has healing powers),

"Zeffra" (the hybrid vixen) is my sona sona... no powers. My furry real-world representation, because I don't like drawing humans.

The vixen is modern.

The feline is the "past".

Both are part cat part fox =3

(Sphinx inherited the fluffy fox tail, while Zeffra inherited the oval feline head. Yes, both in my original style as well as in Sonic style).

Hello! I just send in this question cause I struggle terribly with fursona species switch, and that's likely due to some mental issue I have lmao (like probably my autism or chronic indecisiveness lol) But it's really frustrating cause I don't really want a shapeshifter either :')

Quite relatable, I struggle with this as well. My best advice is:

when the connection with a sona seems to waver, redesign it. It can be as little or as drastic as you'd like. I feel that the longer I've had a design with many iterations, I am more connected to it, and redesigning helps soothe the part of my brain that really wants that species/design immediately right now, and renew my liking for the sona

if you find a species you particularly like, try making an OC instead. That OC can have as many traits like you as you'd like and you can project as much of yourself on them as you want, but I've found making the distinction helpful to me and it helps me explore that species. If you find you end up relating to that character or species, you can turn the OC into a sona or make a new sona based on that species

Try to figure out what traits you like about a species - the colors? The size? The ears? The markings? The way specific artist X drew the species in this one commission from 2009? Add them to your sona. You can also add multiple ears/tails/limbs of various types to your sona

You are allowed to make a hybrid. Hybrids can be of as many species as you want, though some may be lost in the design

Make AU versions of your fursona, in which they are a different species but retain similar traits - similar to shapeshifting, but as a fellow autistic these little "word-only differences" help me categorize this kind of information in a way that is less stressful for me

Connect various species through a backstory - maybe your sona is a phoenix-like creature who's reborn as a different species every 100 years, or maybe they used to be a species and got isekai'd into a world where they're another. Get creative

You are allowed to have as many fursonas as you would like. Nobody is stopping you. You can give them different purposes, too

Sadly I can't really explain how to make one as some people can make a really simple sona or make a really complex one, depends on the person and skill level, some people just draw themselves with minor aesthetic design choices.

Some people usually go for making a sona out of like.. an animal, or object, or creature from some form of media they like (ex: pokemon), or making a "human" or humanoid sona, or they'll make a sona out of some made up species or alien or something that they themselves came up with.

But here's the story behind my sona! I hope it helps in some way?:

Originally whenever I rarely drew myself at all I just drew my real self but in a really poor quality edgy anime looking way it was BAD. I will not share that.

However, after some time on tumblr after I moved from dA, I followed an artist and I really liked how they drew the eyes for their own "sona" of sorts and so..

I kinda... went with that. I went with the most basic shape for a "blank slate" character like how some people draw anons on here.

I was drawing on miiverse at the time when I was drawing my sona for the first time, miiverse made it easy to just doodle something very simple:

pretty basic. pretty boring. idk why the eyebrows are like that. just lazy??

I don't exactly remember what lead to the sweater, BUT. at some point I gave myself a little crown and well:

The design was cute and simple and really fun and easy for me to draw so it just stuck. Kept it like this for awhile, I miss the turtleneck a little lol

The real start of my current sona's design came sometime after I found the "witchsona" tag and wanted to do something fun and so I drew up something kinda cute. a little bolo-tie (cuz I love those), a sweater again, but this time not a turtleneck, instead I gave myself a little button-up collared shirt!

I never really thought about my sona much and what they could be n stuff until recent years. They make me think of bread dough. Looks a bit like a marshmallow, I've already associated myself with ghosts so the "ghost queen" thing stuck around with the little "spooks" as I like to call them!

I like the mystery aspect a lot, too! makes it lots of fun!!

Fairies in Cradle Chpt 1

Hewo!! For once I’m not writing angst yet!! Anyways, this is my entry for this month’s cradlesona event! Halloween! or mythology lol it will be split into chapters unfortunately since I didn’t realize it would be so long lol Hope you all enjoy!! Words: 1848 Characters: Zero x Sona(Echo) Warnings: None yet ;)))

Echo sat up in a tree watching as several rows of men marched by. As the fairy guardian of this forest, she had a duty to make sure they did nothing bad to hurt the forest. Both she and the several rows knew of the legends that spoke of her incredible power. Power which could destroy the whole entire army, after all, she was the lead guardian.

As she watched, she took notes of their appearances. The several rows of men all wore white and red uniforms, all of which were decorated with rose designs. At the front of each unit was a leader, all of whom were clearly obvious.

Her eyes fell on the leader at the very back. His hair was raven black and had a golden streak and his eyes were a captivating ocean blue. On his neck was a tattoo. The tattoo instantly raised red flags, but Echo couldn't put her finger on it. Suddenly, his eyes glanced from the corner of his eye and their gazes met.

She quickly hid further up in the tree hoping that the man would think it was just his imagination. Echo knew that wouldn't happen though.

His eyes lingered in the spot she was just in before returning to look straight ahead.

Echo's eyes lingered on him until he was out of view. *Why did he catch my eye?* she wondered to herself. There was a mysterious aura surrounding him, but it drew her in. It was an odd feeling.

Echo wanted to follow them further than the forest border, but her duties as a guardian came first. For the rest of the day, her mind lingered on the raven and gold haired man.

Echo continued to notice the rising of activity level in her forest. It was odd. Every time there was a person in the forest, she could sense the omen of war and tragedy. Her dreams were starting to be intruded on with nightmares and visions. There hasn't been a war in the past 500 years, and it was frightening.

Pursing her lips as Echo thought, she jolted as she sensed a presence entering the forest. It was familiar. She decided to investigate. Looking around the forest, she finally found the presence. Her eyes widened as she noted it was the same man from before.

Just like with all the same people that had entered the forest from the past few weeks, the icky omen of war clung onto the man's shoulders making her gag.

He seemed to be looking for something as his eyes darted around. Suddenly, his gaze met hers.

She froze, her breath caught in her throat and unable to move as his eyes captivated hers.

His mouth opened to speak and she quickly snapped out of her trance before hiding.

"H-hey! Wait, please!" He yelled and ran to the tree, looking up. She was nowhere to be seen. He sighed in frustration and dug his nails into his tattoo. With a grunt, he started to walk away when he heard a shriek.

Turning around, he spotted Echo on the floor, holding her left wing. It seemed that she had fallen from one of the branches and caught her wing on an outstretched branch.

She froze as she realized she had been caught, *Dammit, why did I have to be so clumsy!* she reprimanded herself.

"Are you ok?!" The man hurriedly asked, stepping towards her.

"Don't come near me!" Echo immediately ordered as she stumbled to stand up and held up a hand.

He froze, both in surprise and fear. This man had no magic power, he only had his sword and skills.

Echo tried to lift her wings to keep up her pride but immediately winced. "Ack!" She whimpered and fell to the ground as she tried to heal her wing.

Her wings were a sign of pride and gave her the ability to fly. They were as delicate and thin as paper. So, her wings were easily torn. What a terror that this has started to become.

Echo needed to stand strong though. She would be useless as a guardian.

She flinched in surprise as the man held out a hand to her. He held a gentle and warm expression on his face.

Hissing, she swatted his hand away. She did not need help from a human.

An ounce of guilt started to weigh on her heart as she saw the man's face twist from surprise to hurt. His expression changed quickly to an apologetic expression, "Ah, I apologize."

"...It's fine." His sudden apology surprised her, rarely had she encountered a human that decided to be kind to a fairy-like her. Either way, she was still cautious although seemed to relax a bit.

He stepped towards her more cautiously, acting as if she was a wild animal, "Will you let me help you…?" He asked quietly.

Echo hesitated tried to heal her broken wing. After a few minutes of using healing magic, she noted that no improvement was made. With a sigh, she shook her head, "A wing can only be healed with magic or time. My magic isn't strong enough so I have to wait." She explained quietly. *Why am I being so friendly with a human?*

"Ah…Can you walk?" He suddenly asked.

"...! …A little--" *Wait. Why am I revealing my weakness?* Echo thought to herself as she cut herself off. "I'll be fine." She immediately remarked and tried to stand up. Her legs were wobbly as she struggled to balance. The throbbing pain in her wing was starting to be too much. She then collapsed but was caught by the man before she hit the ground.

Echo looked up at him sharply and was immediately taken back by how close his face was to hers. She could feel the heat rushing to her cheeks as she tried to fight to stay calm. "T-thank you…" she murmured.

"Do you have a home to return to?"

"...Yes, but I need wings to get there…"

"I see."

"Um, can you let me go now…?"

He didn't reply and instead picked her up bridal style.

Echo squeaked in surprise, immediately clutching the man's clothing.

"Sorry, but do relax please and tell me where to go." He smiled softly at her.

Echo could feel her heartbeat sped up as her cheeks started to warm even more. But, she had no other way to get back home.

The man noted her hesitation, "Please trust me."

With a reluctant sigh, she let go of his shirt and pointed in the direction of her home. He started to walk with a nod. The omen of war still clung to his shoulders and Echo couldn't help but gag."

The man seemed to notice, "Is something wrong?"

"...Not exactly…"

He tilted his head in confusion.

"...An omen of war clings to your shoulder like a lost puppy…" she whispered.

She felt the man stiffen and glanced up at his expression. His expression was grim.

"...War *is* coming…" he murmured.

It was Echo's turn to stiffen now. War. She hasn't seen it happen since 500 years ago. "I...see."

Silence lingered over them like a dark cloud. Echo found herself leaning against the man's chest as exhaustion started to overwhelm her. This man. She felt comfortable with him for some reason. Was he blessed with a light that attracted fairies…? Who knows… Not even a guardian like herself can tell.

He then broke the silence, "May I ask who you are by the way?"

"...You don't know the legends…?" She asked quietly.

"Not many." He admitted with a small chuckle.

"...My name is Echo. I am the guardian of this forest."

He made no move to show he was afraid nor surprise, "I see. I am Zero." He spoke with a small smile.

"...You are a strange human, Zero." His name fell off her tongue as natural as life itself. How strange.

He seemed to stiffen at the word 'human' and hesitated, "I am not human…"

Echo sharply looked at him and they stopped in the middle of a clearing. Zero grimaced as he looked away.

She knew that she had no right to intrude on his past, especially since they just met. Yet, she felt the need to reassure him, "...You have a heart. You have emotions. You have everything a human does. How does that make you non-human?"

Zero opened his mouth to speak but no words came out. Instead, he started to walk again.

Echo continued looking down at her hands in her lap, "Humans are all different in personality and appearances. Yet they have many things in common. Your origins may say that you were born non-human, but to me, you are a human."

He didn't reply, but she could see the layer of surprise under his stoic gaze.

They stayed silent for the rest of the way.

They arrived near where her house was and with the help of his height, he lifted Echo up. She was small in height compared to him which amused him a small bit. He had heard about the legendary fairy guardian of the forest. What he expected though wasn't what he got at all.

"...Thank you for helping me, Zero." She spoke softly. What a change of pace, she used to hate all humans for their stupidity and arrogance, but this man, he might very well change that view. She wasn't sure why but the feeling was deep in her heart.

Zero smiled, "You're welcome, Echo." He waved goodbye before starting to walk away.

Echo waved goodbye as well and watched as he walked off into the distance before being approached by another fairy, Kandis.

"Miss! What happened to your wing?!"

"Ah, it'll heal, don't worry."

"...If you say so, but I must ask, who was that handsome male that just walked away?" She asked out of the blue.

Echo flinched, "Ah...he's…" Echo was at a loss of words. What could she say?

Kandis giggled in amusement, "Well if you don't want to say then that's fine."

Echo let out a breath of relief that she didn't realize she had been holding.

"Now, onto your wing."

*Oh no…* Echo quickly averted her eyes. She was in for a scolding.

The scolding lasted for an hour and Kandis went off to grab natural medicine to help the healing process of her wing. Echo sat where she was standing and watched the scenery happen before her. Her thoughts were occupied by the man she met, Zero. It was still so odd that a human decided to be kind. Rarely does that happen.

Humans and Fairies of Cradle weren't on good terms, not since the large war between the two major armies. The fairies joined no side and the armies grew angry. The red one specifically, chose to force fairies, by kidnapping them and more. So, the guardian fairies grew angry, lashing out at the army.

Humans were unpredictable. That’s why Fairies no longer trust them. But perhaps, just perhaps, Zero could be one of the few that they can trust.

It’s pretty simple, since I couldn’t fit much in and this isn’t going to be a serious character used in stories. She has a backstory (which is similar to mine, but with fantasy elements to match my headworld) but I’m trying to keep her as true to the real me as possible. -Information- Name: -classified- Nicknames: BDS (official nickname), Fluff God (joking title), Angst Queen (unofficial title), Spiced Fluff (Fall joke nickname), Fat Fluff (not an insult) Human Name: Meg (not my real name) Age: 22 (until September 18th, 2018) -in human years- Gender: Female Species: -unknown- (referred to as Dream dragon by some, Fluff dragon by others, space dragon? Undecided.) Family: -classified- Zodiac Signs: Virgo (astral), Boar (Chinese) Birth Stone: Sapphire Sexual Orientation: -unknown- Relationship Status: Single Social Type: Introvert (Which means I don’t dislike talking to people and socializing, but gets back energy-or ‘recharges’-after a while of this by being alone and doing solo activities.) Religious Beliefs: Christain (Nazarene) Interests: Sitting at home drawing while watching YouTube videos or reading a book if there’s one interesting enough available. Working on this. -Beats herself up about her past when she happens to remember something bad from it. Danisnotonfire on YouTube calls these “Cringe Attacks”. Which are apparently normal I think. Good. —— Abilities and Important Design Features (this is mostly the fursona herself, not what I can do in real life) -Paint Brush Tail: Like Shardie did and does in roleplays, BDS has a tail that can paint on anything and everything. But it acts like an actual brush. No Okami brush techniques, just drawing on reality. All her drawings can come to life or be used in some way (like if she drew a rope, she could use it like a rope, or if she drew a mustache you could play with and twirl it like an actual one) but they’re still made of ink or paint. So they don’t become an actual person, just a drawing walking around. Easily erased with water or a special eraser. -Glowing Markings: I’m not sure yet how I want these to go. I was thinking the glowing blue part is her skin under the fur, but then I wondered if that was too weird looking. The markings on the face are not skin, they’re actual markings. All of them have an unnatural glow to them. Meaning it’s not clear where the light source comes from, but it makes a good nightlight or becon. She uses her huge wings to cover these markings when being stealthy, and sometimes people mistaken her for a benevolent spirit or even a Japanese deity or demon because of her facial markings. -Mood Change Markings: She can do this at will, but BDS’s markings change color with her mood as well. When reaching absolute fury, they turn red. Though she can turn them this color at any time, if they’re glowing red and her sockets are either dark or the blue expands and the white slit becomes a slit-shaped gap in the middle, you know she’s beyond pissed. -Eyes: This probably isn’t needed, but for now the eyes are two glowing blue lights with gold centers and white slits for 'pupils’. They’re like Sans’s in Undertale and the black surrounding them are sockets. -Fluffy Body: I’m not called Fluff God for nothing. lol *shot* One thing I wanted to keep consistent with my fursona is FUR. Big, fluffy fur because it’s fun to draw and is so soft and, well, fluffy. For now this is BDS’s winter coat. As it gets warmer again, most of the fur sheds around the neck area, leaving a fluff collar like Shardian!Sans’s in a sense. Though the neck remains covered in fur. -Medium Legs: The legs are a mix of a dog and a cat I hope, and are good for walking but not so much running. Though she will run if it calls for it, BDS prefers not to. She has retractable claws, but usually keeps them in since in real life, I don’t have fingernails. -Chubby Build: BDS is chubby. Not fat, but chubby. She has a visible, hanging belly that can stretch quite wide. Especially when eating someone (yes, vore). -Huge wings: Her wings are very large and have the most muscle strength on her body. The reason for this is so that she can stay in the air for long periods of time without tiring or being dragged down by her weight. Both fur and fat together. Her wings also have star-patterns on the underside because I like that wing design. -Size: By default this is BDS’s size, however she can shrink to a little smaller than Shardie (big enough to walk about a house my house’s size) and a house cat (for cat naps in small spaces). -Shapeshifting: BDS doesn’t have an anthropomorphic form officially, but does have a human form which looks similar to Shardie’s but with some changes to not look exactly like her. The facial markings are also on this human form. -Breath Weapons: Bet you all think it’s a Gaster Blaster light beam, huh? XD *shot* No, actually BDS breathes blue fire that is actually Ice Fire. It looks like fire but when it hits its mark it leaves ice behind. She also weilds lightning. -Vore: This is only important to those that don’t mind being drawn in art like this, but for the story behind it, BDS doesn’t enjoy fatal vore when it comes to sentient creatures. Especially fellow sonas. When eaten by her, the next day they wake up unharmed either in their bed or somewhere else. No harm or pain comes to anyone swallowed by the Fluff Dragon, BDS. Anything else on this particular subject and those related to it will be in a different reference sheet if necessary. -Dream Walking: BDS isn’t referred to as a Dream dragon for nothing. She has the ability to visit other’s dreams, but unless really determined to do so, she cannot interact with them during their dream. She simply observes like one watching a play or movie but while able to walk around in said play or movie without being noticed by the actors or characters. If someone she knows well (a friend or close family) is having the dream and especially if it’s a nightmare, she can bend this rule and actually interact with said nightmare to protect or aid them in whatever way she can. When it comes to Dream Walking with friends, if given consent by them, they can meet up in the dream to talk or hang out. This is especially helpful when it’s a friend that’s across the world or in another state and unable to visit or BDS is unable to visit them. In order to do this, she must inform them first of her ability, and tell them how to let her in. -Universe Travel: Can travel through the multiverse to anywhere possible. Unless a universe is closed off to travelers she can get there. (Except with worlds owned by friends…since it isn’t serious or story-driven, I break those rules anyway. lol) -Outer Space Travel: Built for space. Has thick fur, no nostrils so probably no lungs needed for oxygen, and a huge body. So space is the default habitat of BDS. —– Q n A (Some of these may not be pressing questions…but I want to get as much information on the design and its uses as possible.) Q: Can I roleplay as or use your fursona in any way? A: No. Do not roleplay with or use my fursona or any of my characters. If you are a friend, you may do so if you INFORM me first. This doesn’t mean you can’t draw them, it means you cannot use their designs or the characters themselves in your roleplays, forums, or blogs. These are not adoptables, they are not blank slate characters, and they are especially not characters in a franchise where I have made money and a name for myself with them. They are OCs, still copywritten to me and not available to be roleplayed as unlike characters like Sans from “Undertale” or Spyro from the “Spyro” games, or TV show characters. Q: Are the wings detachable? A: No. The wings are always visible, but there will be times I’ll be too lazy to draw them. Officially though, the wings are meant to be permanently attached and unable to be removed or hidden except when BDS is in human form. Q: Is there a reference sheet for the human form? A: Yes, there is. Q: Will your fursona be used in fandoms? A: Yes and no. BDS will be drawn in art related to friends, real life events, and when I just feel like it. I want to put Shardie, my main OC, and my other actual OCs in crossovers and fandoms. That doesn’t mean I won’t put BDS in a few. Like Undertale, which has a special place in my heart, or other fandoms I’ll never move on from if BDS is an appropriate or fitting addition. “My Little Pony” probably won’t be one of them…but we’ll see. You will definitely see BDS in “Villainous” though. Q: Will she be in any ships? A: Yes, I’m going to probably draw her with my fictional character crushes.. Q: Can I ship her with my OC or sona? A: That…depends. When it comes to friends, I’m ok with it as long as you know it’s not the official pairing BDS is in. Crack ships or just-for-fun ships are fine. But I’m officially single and I’m not looking for a relationship. I will probably draw my fursona paired with other characters (mine unless discussed with a friend if they’re ok with me using theirs) but none of them are official or 'canon’. Most are just drawings with no story attached. When it comes to strangers though…I’d like to be informed before you draw your OC or sona in a shipping picture with mine. Even if you’re a friend, I’d like to know. Just so it doesn’t come as a shock. IMPORTANT: ASK ME BEFORE DRAWING OR WRITING ANYTHING SEXUAL INVOLVING MY FURSONA OR ANY OF MY OCs, PLEASE. Q: Can I draw your fursona? A: Absolutely! I would love fanart of any of my characters and my fursona. Just as long as you tag me properly so I can see it. ——- So this is me.
