I had a thought earlier about how, as I recall from the City of Wizards story, Moonlight is essentially the Wizards’ perfect Cookie. She’s literally what Dark Enchantress/White Lily has been striving to make. Well probably not exactly, but she’s the Wizard’s version of that, Dark Enchantress and the Witches probably have different interpretations than her. But she still is in essence, what Dark Enchantress ultimately wants

And also, of the Ovenbreak Legendaries, Dark Enchantress and Moonlight are the only two who were created by magical humans, the Witches and Wizards respectively. Well I mean we know DE was rebaked, but she still became who she is now because of the Witches, so in that sense she still counts

Like I feel like these could be the reasons why Moonlight is currently the only Ovenbreak elemental to have a part in the main story, as well as her getting a World Exploration. Narrative wise she has the most similarities to the main plot

Midnight was supposed to be the twist villain for OotS?? are u kidding me so much of why I remember the last Hope being anticlimactic is because nothing interesting happened, the bad ghosts had been saying "we're going to do a big attack" for books and books, and then they just did that big attack exactly as we had been told and it was the same as any other Big Battle scene and there wasn't really any more interest to the plot. This kind of plot twist might have actually added something interesting to that book!

And Vicky makes it sound like she had this plan for a long time? it was even going to tie back to Midnight secretly having a hand in the badger attack in arc 2?

Imagine Egg A1 still has one life left, and it somehow manages to escape the facility... It is being followed by mobs, by Federation employees, being hurt by the poison ivy and other environmental threats, but it keeps running, because what other choice is there? That parkour course was a trick after all, the last block was a fake, it was never meant to pass that test in the first place.

So it keeps running, but the Federation workers are getting closer. It won't be able to avoid them forever...

But then it bursts through some bushes and comes face to face with someone new - and it's Bad, out building or exploring or just wandering alone. A1 is immediately afraid, of course. It is a stranger, a very visually striking stranger, the complete opposite of the pure white and featureless employees of the Federation. But there are people close behind, and it knows what will happen to it if it is caught, so... It has no choice but to try. It has no way to communicate, no signs or books, so it simply rushes to hide behind him and hopes he understands, and that he is willing to help...

And Bad, for his part, well.. he's an extremely cautious and paranoid person, and this is just an incredibly confusing and unexpected situation to be in. An unknown egg appeared out of nowhere and is hiding behind him, he can see Federation employees in the distance that are clearly looking for something... He knows that the code has been disguising itself as eggs, and that the strange egg in front of him with no marks, no distinguishing features, an egg that he has never seen before, could easily be the code monster preparing to attack at any moment...

But there is absolutely no way Bad could ever look at an egg in distress and not try to help it, even knowing it could be a trap.

So he quickly digs a shallow hole and pushes the mysterious egg into it, covering it up just in time, and when the employees throw him a book asking if he had seen anything, he lies effortlessly, he complains about nonsense, he asks them where the Ekea is and is as annoying as he can be, until they leave.

And now they're alone... just Bad an this mystery egg in the middle of the woods, A1 too afraid to leave the hole even when Bad tries to coax it out. He gives it food and tries his best to comfort it, to tell it everything is okay and that the pursuers are gone. He gives it some signs and a book, trying to see if it will write anything to him or answer any of his questions, but he gets no reply. A1 is just too afraid to even attempt to answer, and Bad doesn't even know if it understands him. He tries what few words he does know of the other languages, and still no response.

What should he do? As much as the image of a tiny, terrified egg makes him want to do all he can for it he also needs to be safe. He can't bring it home, because if it is a code there is no way he is bringing it anywhere near Dapper. Should he call someone else for help, or would that draw too much attention? Would it even be safe for him or the egg to let anyone know right now? And was this egg dangerous, or harmless and in need of protection? He wouldn't abandon it regardless but...

What now?

i feel like this would have really interesting implications in her story, much as she loves acting, but struggles with it due to the 500 years she spent being forced to act, would being a woman be the same for her? she doesn't know where the act ends and where her actual identity begins. is she a woman because she wants to be, or just because she had to be one. even if she enjoys it more than the alternative, does she actually enjoy it? or is it just because she was one for so long that she enjoys it?

i can imagine that focalors likely didnt care much about her identity/presentation as archons have been shown to be able to change their forms at will basically, but furina is the human counterpart of focalors. she doesn't have that ability to change herself just like that. i imagine gender identity would be much more important to a human, especially one that must keep up an act at all times, than a god, and thus something that would affect her. something she would think about. a lot.

maybe post-prophecy, she would experiment. figure out if femininity is in fact something she wants. maybe she would try to go back to being "cis" and then realize it wasn't right for her. and i imagine that she would flourish more being able to properly express her femininity rather than doing it just because it was apart of the role.

I thoroughly enjoy thinking about the wrightworth family during the 7yg. Like edgeworth Kay trucy and beanix all under the same roof. I ASSUME that by then Kay would be old enough to drive a car so she would be like. Trucy’s cool older sister. And when edgeworth and phoenix leave them home alone (which they’ve learned they probably SHOULDNT do that) Kay would take trucy out to the grocery store and they would buy a bunch of unhealthy food they shouldn’t be eating. And then maybe sometimes they would get up and make breakfast together and fail HORRIBLY. I have a dumb question, and I really hope this doesn’t sound rude. What’s the logic for some of the characters? Like, if they’re the “hero” in their storyline, but they don’t seem to follow Biblical doctrine… does that even count? I’m sorry if that sounds snotty; I don’t mean to have an attitude.

Short answer: I don't know, I'm not the one sending in the characters 😂

But really I would say there's not necessarily a consistent logic that they have to fit. That's part of the beauty of Christianity, isn't it? Anyone who repents and believes is welcome; it's not limited to any certain type of people. For the characters people are sending in here, I think there are a few categories. There are some that fit what you said, who already hold Christian morals and who one could easily headcanon as being Christian within the story. Sometimes people send in villains who they want to have redemption arcs and become Christian. Sometimes it's characters who are Christian; mostly it's characters people would like to see become Christian.

#my favorite character who i headcanon as Christian is one who generally has very Christian morals and really wants to do good #but also lies a lot. and i think in that case it's like i could see him being Christian in the story #because Christians aren't perfect and even people who don't have their whole act together can believe #I'm not justifying continuing to do wrong. Episode 4 of Dead Boy Detectives (Lighthouse Leapers) doesn't quite reach the heights of last episode, but it was still good. I really appreciate the way this show is able to blend comedy and darkness. I love its oddball sense of humour and I often catch myself laughing out loud, particularly at Niko, and it never clashes with the dark storylines running alongside it, which takes a lot of skill.

I would be surprised if that's the last we see of the Night Nurse. Although Charles' defeat of her was brutal, or 'extreme' to quote Edwin, it was satisfying to see him get to fight back against someone hurting him, especially after seeing his father's abuse and his death at the hands of his "friends". I also want to know more about him stopping his friends from beating someone up.

This thought is slightly out of left field, but I find it interesting that seeing a male hero hitting a female character, even a villainous one, might have been impossible to include a while ago. It is a very unusual sight and people have pointed out before that usually, when a woman needs to be physically fought in an action scene, she is often only allowed to be hit by a female hero. While obviously I don't mean that it's actually fine to hit women, I do like that maybe we're moving beyond this reductive 'don't hit girls' narrative (combined with the 'it's fine and dandy for a woman to slap a man for comedy' one). Sometimes a woman is in a position of violent authority and is using that power to hurt a man (or boy, technically, in this case) and it's cathartic to see him get to retaliate.

Again, there's a rift forming between Edwin and Charles as they struggle to be honest with one another. Interestingly, they both seem able to talk to one of the others. Charles opens up to Crystal about his father and feeling angry, while Edwin (although still not saying much) seems able to be honest with Niko in a way he can't be with anyone else. Niko is perhaps becoming my second favourite character, and something about her brand of upfront quirkiness (read: autism) breaks through a lot of Edwin's defences. Their talk on the sea shore was my favourite part of the episode, with them watching scooby doo together at the end maybe a close second.

There have been hints since the beginning of Edwin maybe having feelings for Charles, and this is dealt with somewhat directly for the first time with the Cat King shapeshifting into him, and then that little lingering shot later that Edwin has to shake himself out of. I don't have much to say about it other than that I love that Edwin, who has even admitted now that he doesn't know whether he wants to kiss Monty, has enough love interests - none of whom are ideal in one way or another - to make his sexuality journey, much like this sentence, as confusing and complicated as possible.

I love the Walrus man and am glad he seems to have his own running subplot.

Jenny's "love letters" are giving me huge creepy vibes, but I'm also intrigued.

I missed Esther this episode. Even when she only appears for 30 seconds, it really brightens the whole thing.

THIS SAD WORRIED VERY SMALL MAN. GIVE HIM HIS BROTHER BACK #like many people i was also worried when it became clear that mario and luigi were going to spend a lot of this movie apart #and i'm sure there will be stretches of time where mario is caught up in the adventure #but just the fact that luigi seems VERY front of mind for mario throughout hurts my feeble little heart #he isn't going to stop he's going to do whatever it takes until his little brother is safe and back beside him #(also: i hadn't seen that 'this guy's brother is going to DIE' clip in a long time and the FACE JOURNEY that mario goes on there continues #to be SO incredible and funny. he genuinely looks very pissed off at toad after the initial shock wears off. AND I WONDER WHY) #(especially now that we know this is the second time toad makes a comment about his brother dying and/or being lost forever!!!) #(MARIO WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU DIDN'T!!!!!)

Look I respect the art of past ages, but it's the 21st century and personally I'd like to see less depictions of the Greek Muses as ethereal sexually objectified fairy women, and more art of Thalia doing stand-up

#I mean both can coexist don't get me wrong #You want to do the muses as ethereal sexy women you do you #And again ancient Greek comedy differs from modern day approaches of course #But also they provide a great opportunity for more modern treatments #Unlike Aphrodite or the Graces you really do have the opportunity to present them as ordinary people #(Nothing wrong with interpreting Aphrodite in that way either just it's more obvious with the Muses) #Thalia in a dumb t-shirt microphone in hand half-grinning while picking on the front row of the audience at the Fringe #Or like #Idk Hannah Gadsby-esque comic- though I haven't seen enough of her stuff #Clio doesn't have to be sexy librarian; she could be anything from 'elderly professor obsessed with old coins' to tabloid journalist #I may resent the latter but at the end of the day history relates to everyone #We each have our own particular relationship with her #The ancient Greeks for a start probably had a very different conception of what history is to us
