TL;DR I have a proprietary email address to send fan art to now: art(at)okidokidev.com! If you watch my streams and have done fan art for me I encourage you to keep reading below. (It's a long one, sorry!)
Hey! I know some people who watch my streams follow me here too so I'm throwing this out there just to reach as many people as I can:
I bought a custom domain! I got an email address! This is something I've had the thought of doing for a while now, but in the wake of Twitter's seemingly impending implosion I decided to expedite that thought and take action. It's exciting though, having my own email address that I can look at and have people send things to makes me feel 100x more professional than I did the day before.
So now if you draw fan art for my streams or just for me generally, there is another place it can go! However, there is a secondary goal with this email address. If you have ever drawn any art for me, stream-related or otherwise, and only posted it on Twitter I am strongly encouraging you to email it to me!
I've been streaming for quite a few years now, the past couple of them to an audience, even. Whether you knew me as the voice of Maya Fey on Alfred's Ace Attorney streams, Nagito Komaeda on Chase's Danganronpa 2 streams, or even from my own streams naturally, I have been eternally thankful and grateful for the audience I have grown. Hearing from you and realizing that people actually like what I put out in the world means so much to me, and one such avenue of that is fan art.
I genuinely love each and every piece of fan art I receive, whether it's an MSPaint sketch you made with your non-dominant hand in five seconds, a painting that wouldn't look out of place plastered on the Sistine Chapel, or anything between. Just the fact that I inspired someone to create art or improve their craft the same way so many people have for me is such a tremendous mood lifter and confidence booster. It's no exaggeration to say it makes my day.
So when I hear that Twitter post-Musk acquisition is getting worse by the day, and bleeding employees, two thoughts immediately surfaced: How am I going to network in my field (which I'm still worried about!) and what happens to all that fan art? The obvious answer is that if Twitter shuts down wholesale and ceases to be, then all that art goes away. Years of work, time capsules of moments and emotion past, and one of my biggest motivations to keep streaming when I've been at my lowest, vanishes overnight.
That's scary! I'm scared! I don't want to instill unnecessary panic as there's plenty of that going around already, but all the same I'm afraid of this possible outcome. And so, I reiterate my point: If you have ever drawn any art for me, stream-related or otherwise, and only posted it on Twitter please send it to me at art(at)okidokidev.com. Don't think about "oh this isn't worth sending..." or "surely they don't mean this..." because it is! And I do! I want it all, or at least as much as is possible! I cherish every piece of art I receive and want to preserve as much of it as I can.
I know what I'm asking for is a lot of work, so if you don't want to look for it all or even any of it, then there's not a lot I can do about that and thank you for at least hearing me out. To those who do reach out with their work (and those who already have!) please know that it truly does mean the world to me and your effort does not go unnoticed. Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon!

Autistic Ramblings. Literally that’s IT
for a while i’ve had the autistic urge to explain to someone all my different “good luck” charms and the pocket tiger post made me realize i can just make a whole list explaining them here. so if you do happen to read this please like it but i also know it’s a personal thing that most people wouldn’t care about (and now has become rather long!) especially if you don’t know me. ANYWAYS. here we go. in no real particular order-!
-the coin i got at the Chattanooga aquarium last year when i visited for my birthday! it has paddlefish on it :) my best friend went with us that day and i have fond memories associated with it
-my prosecutors badge! obviously means a lot because it’s connected to my fav of all time but it was also a gift from my best friend in the first year i knew him and stays pinned to my hat, which i wear most of the time
-similarly my defense attorney badge! i got it years ago and it’s really good quality. has a good weight to it for a pin so i can’t pin it to my hat. i usually keep it in my pocket/wallet funnily enough (in aa usually phoenix/defense attorneys display their badges while edgeworth/prosecutors keep them in their pocket) but sometimes i pin it to my shirt if im wearing a button down
-ok last ace attorney thing lol. i have a really cool charm that has phoenix on one side and miles on the other. it’s one of the very few fandom etsy type things i’ve bought. it stays in my wallet most of the time
-my special rock!!! theres a stream/river that my mom and i love to visit and there was an area where the water made a little creek from the road down to the larger area and i could have watched it forever. i happened to spot a very very flat rock shaped like and arrowhead and with edges that almost let you see the layers. i felt a little bad about it but figured since it wouldn’t dislodge anything it’d be okay to take. it has a different recharging system than the others but i haven’t even gotten to that yet.
-my transformers figures! so pretty much all of them are cheap toys i bought while working fast food as rewards to myself after tough weeks but i’m glad to have them. i rotate them based on how i’m feeling that day. optimus is for long or tiring days when i think i’ll need strength to get through a shift. ratchet is for when i’m already exhausted before going into work or not feeling well in the morning. starscream and soundwave i usually just have as general support but i have a particular soundwave figure a friend gave me that i take when i want to remember them and their support.
-transformers...2! just a funny note. i put those guys in my lunch box when i go to work but usually make sure they go in my locker and not the fridge. especially if i took starscream that day. i get the feeling my day would end up having some kind of negative note if i left him in there. same with ratchet but that’s more because i can imagine him complaining and he doesn’t deserve it really
-my dragon spinner ring! one of my oldest charms that i still have. technically i’ve lost it again (there was a time i couldn’t find it for years after we moved) but i’m pretty sure its in my room somewhere. i got it several several years ago at the renaissance festival. i think it’s the only thing my dad’s gotten me that i consider really special. obviously i love spinning it and it really does look cool.
okay! those are all my current “good luck” items that i use fairly regularly. i probably have others tucked away. pretty much any small trinket i’m gifted from someone who means a lot to me becomes one of these items
i also have a recharging system for them that i consider fairly important! mainly it just means that after a few consecutive days of ‘using’ a particular charm it has to ‘recharge’ or it won’t help me as much if at all. listen. i KNOW they don’t actually do anything. but it’s the thought that counts and this system helps me feel better. so i make sure to let my charms rest out of respect for what they do for me and so they can continue to help me.
basically this just means that they go into my bedside drawer for a few days usually. while my rock can recharge like this it won’t be fully up to strength till i dunk it in a body of water again. any water helps but it’s especially charged after i let it soak in the stream i got it from for a minute. i can only do this maybe once a month though.
also shout out to my original charm that “recharged”! it was a pendant, also from the renaissance festival i believe, that was kinda rectangular with curved edges and made out of glass. it was deep blue/purple, had a sorta square pattern going on inside, and was slightly smaller than my thumb. anyways it recharged via the sun and i used it freshman year of hs to get through PE. i named it corn after a stone from a certain manga i use to be obsessed with in middle school/part of hs. the character in the manga used her blue stone similarly, that is for emotional support, and also use to hold it up to the sun. i probably still have it somewhere but it’s i don’t use it or wear it anymore
ok! that’s all i can think of at the moment but i really enjoyed typing this all out. if you happened to read all of this....why...but also thank you. i love knowing that someone else knows these things now. i cant just tell when i try to explain these things irl people tune me out rip;;; though i understand why

The Great Ace Attorney Playthrough: The Adventure of the Unbreakable Speckled Band (Part 1)
Last Time: With a little help from Susato, the lady in pink, we discovered that Miss Brett poisoned Dr Wilson with Curare, a fast acting poison that’s only effective when introduced into the blood stream. In a last ditch attempt to avoid justice, Miss Brett destroyed the evidence right in front of the court, but fortunately my man Hosonaga was on hand with new evidence he’d taken from the crime scene, meaning that all we had to do was catch the thief of a rare golden coin, and tie Miss Brett up with her own words! At last I (Ryunosuke) was acquitted!
...only to find out in the lobby that Miss Brett has managed to privilege her way out of any consequences and was gone like smoke in the wind. (Also Kazuma used his sword in a way I found very hot, and I think I’ve accidentally doomed him to death or moral corruption.)
Tumblr media
I’m 90% sure The Speckled Band is a Sherlock Holmes case, and I’m 49% sure it’s one of the ones I’ve read. I’m guessing this is where we’ll meet The Great Himbo Detective Herlock Sholmes then!
Tumblr media
Well I guess that answers that then.
(And yes, I have read this one)
Tumblr media
HERLOCK!
And he’s voiced by Professor Layton maybe???
Tumblr media
Ooh, this seems like a Study in Scarlet, are we doing a Study in Scarlet guys?
Tumblr media
Herlock has a magic gun!?!
Also I’m not digging this Japanese scripture and talk of it being penned by ‘the victim himself’. Kazuma what did I tell you about leaving my sight?
Wait... I could have sworn I just saw Hosonaga dressed as a sailor...
Tumblr media
Oh balls, am I about to be accused of murder again?
Honestly I can’t take you anywhere Ryunosuke
Tumblr media
Well Ryunosuke, you remember how you went to a lovely restaurant and got arrested for a murder you didn’t commit?
Well, it’s just like that but substitute restaurant for ship.
Also I’m not liking how little I’ve seen of Kazuma...
Tumblr media
Ryunosuke we really need to have a talk about you just saying what people want to hear.
Tumblr media
ITS FUCKING KAZUMA ISN’T IT?!
Tumblr media
:(
Tumblr media
Nononononononono
I knew this was coming, you knew this was coming, Ace Attorney law dictated it was coming as soon as it set Kazuma up as both my mentor and best friend.
But even so, I thought they were just empty threats! I didn’t think they’d actually follow through! Or that we might at least enjoy Herlock Sholmes ad his magic gun together first.
I realise I’m stalling here, but maybe if I just don’t click I’ll not have to see his body.
Tumblr media
Sailor Man, I understand that you’re very upset, we all are, but I need you to understand that I’m grieving here.
The man I love took one look at the morally compromised shits I’m normally into and decided he’d rather die than join them! And yes I know I’m still stalling and not taking this as seriously as I should because I still don’t believe it!
Tumblr media
See, me and Ryunosuke are on the same page!
Tumblr media
I didn’t Susato, but the problem is that you and I have only just met and I’m not very convincing!
Tumblr media
:(
Tumblr media
Kazuma you legend! I refuse to believe you are dead until I see your corpse.
Now Ryunosuke’s all: I can’t believe they tossed your case around that much. I thought I was going to die.
And Kazuma’s telling me he’s just amazed I fitted inside his trunk in the first place.
Kazuma you can’t be gone! Who else will condescendingly tell me to go to France and ask rather than translate a French label for me?
Now Kazuma’s telling me (Ryunosuke) that I’m going to have to live in his cabin for the next 50 days.
Also we’ve got to keep this from Susato because we’re breaking the law and Kazuma doesn’t want us to take her down with us.
Lol, every day I get shoved into the wardrobe by an uncaring Kazuma!
Tumblr media
Oh, that’s what the message said!
God knows what the steward thought Kazuma was keeping in his wardrobe though
Tumblr media
:(
Tumblr media
See Ryunosuke, this is why we think before we speak.
Tumblr media
I don’t envy the real killer when Susato gets hold of them.
From what I can find out it’s a locked room mystery, and the cause of death is still undetermined, so I’m guessing something like poison then rather than an obvious thing, like being stabbed with his big sword.
On one hand, I really hope it wasn’t something like Curare, because I don’t want Kazuma to have gone out like that, but on the other hand poison would explain why the killer didn’t need to be in the room when he died and why Kazuma didn’t strike them down with said big sword.
Ok, so Kazuma, legend that he was, got up every day at the crack of dawn to do sword training. And Susato, who I’m begging to suspect is incredibly hardcore, go up before him so she could go and wait for him outside.
Tumblr media
Now that’s interesting.
The two of them seem like they were pretty close, so there’s a good chance it’s just that she’s so familiar with Kazuma’s habits that she can tell the second something’s off, or it could be that there’s some other reason we need to work out.
If that’s correct that means Kazuma was killed in the small hours of the morning.
You know up ‘til now I’ve been assuming Ryunosuke was knocked out or something, and that’s why he was unconscious in the wardrobe, but now I’m starting to think he might have just been sleeping in there.
Tumblr media
:((
Wait why’d Kazuma write in Russian?
Like I’d buy that he might know it, but I don’t buy that’s it’s what he’d write in in his finger moments.
Well that proves my innocence then, all we need to do is get some witnesses to verify the ‘go to France and ask’ moment from the last case
Oh ok, I didn’t manage to screenshot it, but it seems that I (Ryunosuke) didn’t put myself in the wardrobe. That’s very odd.
Tumblr media
I can see a vent up there, so maybe someone gassed us and then got in while we were asleep and set up the crime scene.
Tumblr media
Kazuma said I should come, next question
Tumblr media
Ryunosuke, with some of the words that come out of your mouth I don’t think you should be throwing stones.
Tumblr media
Love?
Tumblr media
Apparently not.
Tumblr media
This is going to be something ominous isn’t it...
I’m starting to feel like Kazuma knew he’d never see England.
Kazuma how many toes did you tread on?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh fucking hell!
You can’t die and be heading down a dark moral path, that’s not fair!
Tumblr media
Yeah, I want to know that too.
Tumblr media
Ah
So my poison/drugging theory seems to be holding up. Apparently Kazuma bought me something to eat, I climbed into the hiding wardrobe, and then it’s lights out from there.
Given that I didn’t wake up when Kazuma was killed I’m going to say that also back that theory up. Even if it was silent I feel like Ryunosuke would have woken up if someone was going round the cabin knocking ink bottles over and killing Kazuma.
Tumblr media
No, don’t blame yourself Ryunosuke!
It’s my fault really, if I was going to  find Kazuma hot I should have made sure I could manifest inside my switch and protect him!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ah, of course! Isn’t her dad a professor of pathology? And she seems like the sort of person who picks things up pretty quickly!
In other words, if this is a poisoning, she could be the perfect person to be partnered up with.
Tumblr media
:(((
Tumblr media
Susato is fully prepared to kick our ass if we try and leave, and as the woman who got up before Kazuma, I think we should listen to her.
Tumblr media
:(((((
Tumblr media
I say we team up as an investigative duo and catch this bastard!
Tumblr media
Yeah!
Tumblr media
SHE FUCKED US UP!!!
Susato didn’t come here to play! Especially when we might have killed Kazuma!
(Editors note: this isn’t a bad screenshot, Susato genuinely made Ryunosuke’s vision go blurry)
I know we need to investigate, but my god this woman’s got a fist to match her convictions.
You know when I first met Susato I was a bit afraid she was going to be the inverse of Maya to the point of being meek and shy.
Now I see what a fool I was.
Susato might be prepared to politely follow the rules, but woe betide you if you break them.
Tumblr media
She’s even named it!
Again I know this is bad for us but GO SUSATO!
(God damn it you can’t all be my favourite characters)
Tumblr media
Her own special martial arts form Ryunosuke!
Tumblr media
And just like that she regathers her composure and carries on as if nothing had happened!
I like how she’s still just standing over me.
Tumblr media
Ok Ryunosuke let’s go!
(Seriously though we don’t want her as an enemy)
Tumblr media
Ah of course, Kazuma stuck the seal on the wardrobe, and the fact Herlock Sholmes (the himbo detective) had to pull it off means I didn’t leave!
Tumblr media
No one respects poor Ryunosuke...
So it seems that Susato doesn’t believe we’re innocent just yet, but as we’ve presented the possibility of doubt before her she will let us investigate this room.
Given the buck wild nature of the last trial she was involved in, I honestly can’t blame her for not ruling this possibility out. After all if this was something a witness in a trial had said I’d be thinking the same thing.
Susato’s going to be watching us to make sure we don’t disturb the crime scene, which again is fair.
I’ve got to say, I’m really digging Susato’s cautiously suspicious and sensible nature. It feels like a good counterbalance to Ryunosuke’s beautiful but naïve outlook on life.
I bet if Susato had stowed away onboard a ship you wouldn’t catch her immediately confessing as soon as a sailor started to press her.
Who am I kidding, Susato would never have got into this situation in the first place.
Tumblr media
*sob*
Ok so far we’ve got:
A) Half a pink kimono fastener on the floor next to a brick red mark
B) One disturbed table, with the remains of our roast chicken dinner on the floor
C) The terrible knowledge that Kazuma spent his last night on earth hungry because he didn’t like chicken
D) Kazuma’s precious katana, that he loved dearly and that he’d apparently managed to persuade the government to let him bring to the UK.
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, drive the knife in why don’t you game!
Tumblr media
Why do I feel like Ryunosuke’s about to get roasted?
Tumblr media
There we go.
(It’s what Kazuma would have wanted)
Tumblr media
DON’T JUST GO WITH IT RYUNOSUKE!
Back to investigating, we’ve got a ransacked shelf, and Kazuma’s London diary.
Tumblr media
Just, you know, to rip my heart out...
It looks like the final entry’s incomplete, which means Kazuma was probably writing it when the incident happened. Unfortunately Susato is violently insistent that we respect the Kazuma’s private thoughts after his death, so we can’t read it.
We’ve got the inky Russian(?) on the floor which none of us can either recognize, nor read (including me)
(Sorry to any Russians reading this by the way, I can only assume you’re screaming that this isn’t Russian, but I’m just going by what the Great Himbo Detective said in the cut scene.)
Tumblr media
Ok, so the sailor who’s been guarding us got very flustered when we asked if everything was normal last night, meaning that either he’s been skiving off, or everything was in fact not normal last night.
Oh sweet, it seems that Ryunosuke and Susato both read detective novels, and while we’ve shot down the possibility of using the needle and thread trick to unbolt the door from the outside (side note: I must remember to try that later), I feel like both they, and the player who immediately started trying to rattle off facts about Curare, have had a bonding moment.
Ok, I think that’s this half of the room done, let’s go and check out that vent I saw earlier.
So the vent connects to the room next door. That means if the grate could be moved we have a way in and out of our crime scene!
Tumblr media
HERLOCK SHOLMES!!!
Tumblr media
I mean, he’s quite hard to miss Ryunosuke
Tumblr media
(I think Ryunosuke might have an Apollo complex short)
Tumblr media
Understatement of the century
Tumblr media
Her and me both Ryunosuke, it’s The Great Himbo Detective!!!
Tumblr media
WE’RE TALKING TO HIM!
AND HE’S BLANKING US!!!
Herlock Sholmes I understand that you’re in a critical point of your investigation, but you need to understand that Ryunosuke, Susato and I are sad and need to see your magic gun.
Tumblr media
YEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAASSSSSSSSS!!!
IT’S LIKE HE HEARD ME!!!
OH GREAT HIMBO DETECTIVE CHEER ME WITH YOUR WITH YOUR ECCENTRIC ACTS THAT ARE RELATABLE TO MY AUTISTIC ASS!!!
Tumblr media
OMFG HE’S SO INCREDIBLY WRONG!!!
I hope this is the way all of his deductions go from now on.
Also I’m sorry Russia and the Russian language, I should not have believed what the man, who on reflection was sold to me as the great himbo detective, said.
Tumblr media
Susato’s buying it!
Susato look into my eyes and tell me Ryunosuke could ever make it as a soldier.
Tumblr media
No, please do!
Tumblr media
And the bullet flies a mile wide!
I’m still upset about Kazuma, but I’m somehow also having the time of my life
Tumblr media
SUSATO YOU KNOW I’M FROM JAPAN!!!
Tumblr media
SHE TOOK ME OUT!!!
AND MY GOD AM I HERE FOR IT!!!
Tumblr media
Ryunosuke’s finally snapped!
What I find amazing is that the Sherlock Holmes Herlock Sholmes stories clearly exist, basically unchanged in this world. So either Dr Watson Wilson was either lying through his teeth to spare his friend’s feelings, or he is the stopped clock is right twice a day person who Herlock actually hit the nail on the head for, and therefore he believed everything that was said.
‘On rout to foreign climates’ that’s how ships work Herlock!
Tumblr media
Exactly!
I’ll say one thing for Herlock though, you can’t beat him down!
Tumblr media
How am I both Ryunosuke and Susato in this scene?
Tumblr media
Yeah Naruhodo-san! I thought you read detective stories!
Tumblr media
Quick Susato! Get him to sign a copy!
Tumblr media
Um... has no one told him yet...
I’m also curious about the fact that he still believes Dr Wilson’s in London. Either there are two Dr Wilson’s, or something weird is going on here.
Tumblr media
Look at his hat Ryunosuke, it contains all the information you need
Tumblr media
He got his own name wrong!
Hosonaga, I don’t know if you can hear from wherever you are on this ship dressed as a sailor, but there is a fight and you are rapidly losing!
(Also to be fair to Herlock, as someone who’s been playing a lot of Hitman recently, looking inside the wardrobe already means he’s doing a lot better than literally every character in that game.)
Tumblr media
Ok so it was Russian then and I no longer have to apologies!
Tumblr media
Do you think Herlock has ever been to Russia?
Tumblr media
Ok Mr ‘is this cow a cat?’
Tumblr media
:(((((((
Tumblr media
HERLOCK THAT LOOKS NOTHING LIKE ME!!!
Ok everyone, we’re also on the lookout for a missing Russian Ballerina along with Kazuma’s killer. I don’t know how, but I wouldn’t have been told about her if she wasn’t relevant
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can’t believe we’ve finally found the vindictive part of Ryunosuke’s beautiful personality!
We’re finally reading Kazuma’s diary!
Tumblr media
Oh fuck, Kazuma was bitten by an adder
Wait, if that was the case why didn’t he dispatch it with his big sword? We’ve seen him do precision work before, so that can’t be it.
Either way, I think we really need to talk to the person in the room next to mine.
Tumblr media
Also: Herlock Sholmes gets seasick!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Did she just break my cuffs?
My mistake she’s just showing some tough love to get me to buck up!
Let’s go team!
Tumblr media
HOSONAGA!!!
“What are you doing here?” “I think that should be my line” This feels like that meme of the two Spidermen pointing at each other
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I wouldn’t be so sure Susato. Hosonaga seems a lot like me, a bunch of disabilities held together by sheer force of will.
Tumblr media
He still has a job!
(Or his superiors are just trying to send him as far away from Japan as they can)
Tumblr media
HELL YEAH HOSONAGA, LETS PUNCH THE RULES UNTIL THEY SQUEAK!
(Also your superiors are definitely trying to ship you out)
Tumblr media
Oh...
That would explain Kazuma’s whole vibe.
Although something about this feels wrong. No disrespect to Hosonaga, but as determined as he is he doesn’t exactly have the physical prowess you’d associate with stopping an assassination. I know I haven’t exactly seen him at work yet, but something about this feels like he was set up to fail.
Tumblr media
Now the thing is, that while he can cut it as a waiter, Hosonaga isn’t exactly built to fit in among sailors. It’s not going to take a genius therefore, to work out who Kazuma’s guard is, especially if he’s been around Kazuma from dawn till dusk. That’s probably why his killer had to kill him in his cabin, and it’s also why they probably drugged his food (which means they didn’t know him enough to know he didn’t like chicken)
Tumblr media
:(((((((((((((
On the plus side though, it looks as though Hosonaga believes in my innocence.
Tumblr media
Come on Hosonaga, remember when you bought Miss Brett to us!
Tumblr media
Hell yeah Hosonaga!
Tumblr media
Hosonaga heard my call! He heard that he was losing his place as my second favourite character and came back swinging!!!
Tumblr media
Determination Ryunosuke!
Also probably hacking up a lot of blood, that does wonders to unnerve people in my experience
Now, I should present Kazuma’s diary here... but...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yes, everything is as it should be...
Tumblr media
He’s digging it!
Tumblr media
Oh no he took it as an insult!
Tumblr media
Sorry Ryunosuke, that’s the crime scene thief’s now
Ok let’s do this properly then
Tumblr media
Yeah boy!
LETS DO THIS TEAM!!!
Tumblr media
Ryunosuke, do you remember nothing about this man?
Tumblr media
Hosonaga didn’t come here to play!
Ok, we’re moving on out (except not right now because I’ve still got a couple of things to look at before we go)
Tumblr media
I think Ryunosuke might be a bad influence on Susato...
Also I feel like I’ve pegged Susato wrong regarding the rules. Susato’s just very good at keeping up the appearance of following them.
Come to think of it, the fact she’s a judicial assistant, despite women apparently not being allowed in the Japanese court other than to testify should have clued me in.
Susato Mikotoba: Breaking the rules in front of you, but in a way you don’t notice
(Also the bell pull’s not working, but I think we all expected that)
Tumblr media
Susato I’ve been living in a cupboard!
Tumblr media
Don’t pity me!
Tumblr media
Ok, so I’m not quite sure when Ryunosuke and I started thinking as one, but we’ve all agreed it’s happening now
Tumblr media
Ryunosuke do not get caught in the mousetrap!
Tumblr media
Susato can see right through me (Ryunosuke)
Tumblr media
Umm...
This is the Phoenix Maya dynamic inverted, and I am living for it.
Susato: Now this is an emergency button, it’s very important you do NOT press it!
Ryunosuke: *lunges for the trigger*
It feels amazing being the wayward partner!
Our rout into cabin 2’s blocked by approximately 1 ton of sailor, so for now Susato and I will have to dick around avenge Kazuma out here in the corridor.
It seems that last night’s log is mostly blank, so I’m guessing I was right about the sailor on duty skiving off.
Tumblr media
Hmm, so the person in the next cabin’s probably quite important then. Given what just happened with Miss Brett that’s not a good sign.
And it seems like I’m not allowed to visit whoever it is without an invitation... which might prove tricky given as how there in there and I’m out here
Tumblr media
Ah good, a Western Gentleman, that’s just what we need!
Tumblr media
Hmmmmm
These guys left their post for a while didn’t they?
Either that or there’s something (or someone) they’re keeping off the records.
This might be a bit of a wide shot, but that mousetrap makes me wonder if the crew has some sort of secret pet squirrelled away somewhere. It doesn’t entirely add up what with them putting traps down, but with everyone in Ace Attorney having something to hide it’s all I can think of now.
Bif Strogenov’s left to report to the captain, nows our window to violate some privacy!
Tumblr media
HERLOCK SHOLMES!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Shot down!
Tumblr media
Herlock that thing’s tiny, I don’t think anyone’s in there!
It moved!
Guess I’m eating my words!
Tumblr media
Herlock???
Ok, we’re not allowed to look inside the case, or indeed anything, but fortunately we have HERLOCK SHOLMES THE GREAT HIMBO DETECTIVE!!!
Tumblr media
Deduce away Herlock!
Tumblr media
Herlock... are you about to tell this man that he’s also the Russian Assasin? Are you going to do this round the whole ship until you get it right?
Tumblr media
Wait this is working!?!
Tumblr media
Herlock Sholmes is Susato’s one blind spot and Ryunosuke’s one point of clarity
Tumblr media
CHOOCHOO!!!
Tumblr media
THIS IS AMAZING!
He’s not entirely right though...
(Editors note: I completely managed to miss capturing 90% of the ? icons)
Tumblr media
I FUCKING KNEW IT!!!
HERLOCK LOOK AT THIS MAN’S NOSE, LOOK AT MY FACE! NOW LOOK AT THE MAN IN THE PORTRAIT!
However, the newspaper in his pocket and the little ! icon seems to suggest there’s some connection there.
(Editors note: I also managed to miss every ! icon)
And there is a crime being committed, but it’s not to do with the case.
Yeah, it probably just contains one of those pets we’re not supposed to have.
Tumblr media
So... a baby?
Tumblr media
So do a lot of people Susato
Ok, so The Great Himbo Detective is actually really good at making observations, it’s just how he applies them that’s shit.
I wonder if this is what Dr Wilson did for their partnership, but he just cut out the bits where he said things like: Herlock these people have completely different faces, maybe there’s a different reason they’ve got the paper?
Tumblr media
Ryunosuke normally: The fact Hosonaga’s working in this restaurant clearly means he’s struggling financially!
Ryunosuke around Herlock: You can’t just say the first guess that pops into your head!
Tumblr media
HERLOCK BUSTED US OUT!!!
(Ok he’s also the reason we were in handcuffs, but still)
Tumblr media
Olay!
Tumblr media
What! Noooooo!
‘Course Correction: Hold it Mr Sholmes!’ What a title!
Tumblr media
Important news just in: Ryunosuke can’t grow a beard
A part of me says that he was about to use the sheers to cut up that paper, but there are obviously other copies around the ship, so unless he’s planning a sheers rampage that can’t be right.
Tumblr media
Hello!
Wait a second... with that reaction to the paper... is there a Russian Ballerina in there?
Tumblr media
WE DID THE HERLOCK SHOLMES COOL SPIN AND CLICK!!!
Also look at Ryunosuke’s little cocky smirk!
He’s really getting into this!
And I couldn’t be more proud!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We’re tag teaming it!
Tumblr media
Herlock I swear to god if you tell me she’s that assassin
Tumblr media
WHAT DID I JUST SAY!
(Editors note: Got that one!)
Tumblr media
I sure am Susato!
Tumblr media
Keep telling yourself that Ryunosuke, we can all see the truth
Tumblr media
Ah, so the nose was fake too
That makes a lot more sense now!
Tumblr media
Well she did disappear with a priceless tiara
Tumblr media
He said, rubbing his hand in glee
This is definitely the start of a beautiful friendship!
Tumblr media
Damn straight I do!
Tumblr media
Bingo
For some reason I pictured it as being pink though, I don’t know why
Anyway so, while Nikolina does need money it seems that she didn’t steal the tiara. Apparently it was given to her as a present.
Also Nikolina is only 15, and has run away by herself for reasons currently unknown. I’m starting to get the feeling that the crew (or at least the two we’ve met) might have been looking out for her.
Tumblr media
Oh yeah, the moving travel case!
Given the rules regarding pets, I wonder if that’s what’s in there? It would explain the attitude of the sailors we met.
Tumblr media
Is it the Russian Revolutionary Herlock? You have to tell us if it is...
Tumblr media
He’s learning!
Yep, she’s looking at the pet rule sign, now show me the pet!
Tumblr media
Whoooooooo!
Tumblr media
Yeah, I’m pretty sure the guys on the door were covering for her (and probably her pet too)
Hmm, so Nikolina’s running from someone, so she decided to disguise herself to be safe and has been a jumble of nerve ever since.
Tumblr media
Can I see...
Tumblr media
Bless you Nikolina, but you’re not the best at keeping secrets. I’m pretty sure the crew have collectively decided to just look the other way and let the traumatised 15 year old have her pet.
Tumblr media
HE CUFFED ME AGIAN!!!
Tumblr media
I wonder if Nikolina’s beloved pet’s a snake?
Can I just...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
:(
Fine...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No, everyone must see my badge!
Tumblr media
HA!
Tumblr media
:(
Tumblr media
:D
Ok now let’s go back to actually playing the game!
So, because she’s a jumble of nerves, Nikolina hasn’t been noticing much about what’s been happening around her. However I think she’d have probably noticed signs of danger, like loud noises, so I’m a little curious as to why she didn’t pick up on the sound of the tableware being sent to the floor.
From what I can gather about her never dancing again’ whatever happened probably has something to do with the ballet.
Either that or she’s worried about being linked with her old life if she goes back on the scene under another name.
Tumblr media
That’s a good point actually, while people are funny and I can get her wanting a memento of her life, that’s an incredibly distinctive memento to have.
It must have some sort of emotional significance, I think she said it was given to her by an Earl, so maybe her father?
Tumblr media
Hmm, that’s a pretty distinctive thing to try and pawn Nikolina.
Tumblr media
Yikes! So the Novavich Ballet’s got really unethical working conditions. (Which probably shouldn’t be too much of a shock given the time period.) Now I understand why Nikolina’s so keen to never put herself in that situation again.
Tumblr media
Yeah, I thought that was the case.
Tumblr media
Huh?
Tumblr media
Oh yeah... that is odd
Tumblr media
Ah, so that’s why everyone was so on edge!
Tumblr media
Right...
Tumblr media
(I feel like this would carry more weight if we hadn’t just been flashing our badge at anyone who looks our way)
Now onto the most important question:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
HERLOCK NO!
Tumblr media
Susato is me (but personally I’m hoping for a kitten)
Tumblr media
Ok Genius, what sort of animal is it?
Tumblr media
I’ll eat your funky hat if that’s true Herlock
Tumblr media
Important information 2: Never trust Herlock with a pet
Tumblr media
Please let it be that we were Kazuma’s pet
Wait no, I’m an idiot. I’m obviously supposed to ask about the speckled band
Tumblr media
Wow she changed quick!
She’s leaving to talk to the captain, is this our chance to meet her friend!?!
Booooo, we’ve been chucked out!!!

reading the tags/reblogs/replies to my last textpost was really fun to go through!! i wanted to reply to all of yous but i realized that the og post would get very,,,,, long,,,,, so here are my responses under the cut
Tumblr media
YESSSSS his long playthroughs are SO good i’m pretty sure i watch them more than the more punchy shorter videos bc i like to listen to them while working + his chill voice in his earlier videos was one of the major reasons i even subscribed to him in the first place!!
ALSO !!! i’m glad rt’s celeste video encouraged you to complete most of the game!! even though it’s a high difficulty in terms of platforming i hope you enjoyed the journey along the way :]
Tumblr media
THE WHO WELL DO YOU NOW RTGAME VIDEO WAS SO FUCKING FUNNY i actually hurt my stomach laughing jesus christ i still can’t get over the part where his audience literally raided the website and flooded it with rt shite
also the mario galaxy videos have such a special place in my heart i still go back to the first one to hear rt read rosalina’s storybook i just aaaaa,,, soft rt reading voice my beloved
Tumblr media
THE STARDEW VALLRY VIDEOS!!!! oh my god those were quintessential controlled chaos videos and also the running memes were so funny ie. ‘go to bed’ and the fuckin cabins…..
Tumblr media
irish lads playing don’t starve has got to be one of the greatest blessings on earth and also imo really solidified the irish lads dynamic, featuring dan as the mom friend and kevin as the resident arsonist
Tumblr media
OOOOOO this is a really interesting list!! i feel like i don’t give enough attention to the videos of rt playing lesser known games but they’re insanely funny
some of my favorite moments that occured in some of these videos include:
- rt finding and reading all of the really weird achievements for deal or no deal
- rt putting the baby furniture close to a clifface
- rt playing wii tennis with the cooking mama baby
Tumblr media
honestly??? that’s so fuckin valid
i didn’t even think the forza horizons videos would keep me engaged bc i don’t even like racing games aside from mario kart but it was those videos that taught me to never doubt rt’s comedic timing and humor bc those were hilarious
also i saw the blinking video live and while i genuinely was a little miffed when rt blinked against his own will the editing in the video later made it funny djfjsjdjks
Tumblr media
NOT THE MINECRAFT STORY MODE VIDEOS DJSNDKSKDKSK
rt’s english degree pain was my absolute pleasure his ability to accurately predict what was happening was so fuckin wild AND THE PART WHERE RT RELOADED A SAVE TO KILL MAGNUS SENT ME LMAO
Tumblr media
rt’s videos with kevin is SO fun i enjoy their dynamic of “the one who tries to finish the game” and “the one who is absolutely chaotic and in/directly impedes their progress along the way”
and the pheonix wright videos are really well edited and fun to rewatch!! people were really not kidding when the ace attorney games were just ‘gay lawyers’ JDBSJDNSJJF
Tumblr media
SOBS THE CELESTE VIDEO IS ONE OF MY TOP COMFORT VIDEOS LARGELY BC ITS ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE GAMES TOO,,, i remember when i saw the twitch notification i fucking booked it to my laptop and ditched all my final exam materials KDNSKMDKSF i will never regret sitting through all 9 hours of that stream,,,,, and although i’m 100% sure we’ll never get a chapter 9 video i hope he completed it at least it’s one of my favorite chapters in the whole game
Tumblr media
that mario party video is like gold in terms of humor i only wish that the pre-game stuff was saved bc it gave us gems such as:
- nogla going off about making an irish lads podcast (onlylads when?)
- nogla buying jack’s top of the morning coffee to prove a point
- just nogla in general
also terroriser’s appearance was just so funny his ongoing disdain for rt is so delightful
and if you haven’t i give u my full recommendation to watch the celeste video i may be biased but i’m never wrong (/j for that last bit LOL)

“Idly, Franziska noticed how their steps perfectly aligned with each other. That shouldn’t have made her heart flutter the way it did.“
Words: 1457 Rating: G Warnings: None Pairing: Franziska von Karma / Maya Fey Summary: Franziska is leaving the courtroom when Maya catches her attention. It's really a waste of her time to chat with her like this, but she just can't help herself.
Franziska sighed, stepping out of the lobby and heading towards the stairs. She had planned to leave the courtroom as soon as the case was over to prepare for the next, but instead paused, a glimpse of dark hair catching her eye.
Perhaps the hair shouldn’t be what caught her attention, what with the person it was attached to calling her name and sprinting at her as fast as someone wearing platform sandals could.
“Hey!” Maya called, waving an arm back and forth as she darted forward to meet Franziska’s slowing strides.
She finally caught up and matched pace, breathing heavily with a smile. Idly, Franziska noticed how their steps perfectly aligned with each other. That shouldn’t have made her heart flutter the way it did.
“Maya Fey.” Franziska didn’t quite make eye contact, but acknowledged her presence regardless.
“Hi Franziska!” Maya chirped, and yes, that was a good way to describe her, Franziska thought.  She reminded Franziska of a songbird. Carefree, curious, mischievous, yet elegant somehow… beautiful, even.
“So, you just left a trial?” Maya asked, leaning forward and tilting her head, her feet swinging out in front of her as she walked along.
Franziska nodded.
“Obviously.”
Maya tilted her head back, looking up at the courtroom’s ceiling.
“Nice, nice. How do you think it went?”
Franziska took a quick glance at the ceiling to see what was so interesting. Nothing really, but maybe Maya saw something she didn’t.
“I won, naturally,” Franziska responded. Something about her own voice seemed wrong to her.
“Congrats!” Maya cheered, pumping a fist in the air.
“It was an open and shut case. I’m not even sure why they wanted to call me in for it anyway…”
Maya tilted her head again.
“I mean maybe, but it’s still impressive! It must be hard doing so many trials after all!” She laughed to herself as she looked off. “Nick only takes like, five cases in a year and he’s still going gray over it! It’s kinda incredible you can do so much at once, haha!”
Franziska scoffed.
“Well, I am much more competent than that fool.”
She took a moment to think, wondering if the walk out of the courtroom had always been this long. Part of her wished it was longer, which she hastily buried.
Her tongue hesitated on her lips before she spoke again.
“Speaking of… that fool… where is he? I was under the impression you always stuck fairly close to him.”
Maya raised an eyebrow.
“Hm? Oh, Nick? Nah, he’s not here today, he’s back at the office, at least I think… He might have left for lunch?”
Now it was Franziska’s turn to raise an eyebrow.
“Really? What are you doing here if not to accompany him?”
Maya laughed.
“You know I have a life outside of Nick, right?”
Heat rose to Franziska’s cheeks.
“I-I knew that, naturally! I’ve simply never seen you without him not also being close by.”
Maya raised a finger to her lips.
“Hmm… I guess that’s true! It’s not like you really see us outside of investigations or trials. That’s kind of disappointing to be honest…”
“Disappointing?”
Maya sighed.
“Well… you know! Mr. Edgeworth and Nick are rivals and they hang out sometimes, and Nick texts him a lot, at least I think that’s Edgeworth, he always gets all flustered and defensive whenever I ask, but I don’t know who else he’d be texting and he gets this dumb smile on his face and-“ Maya cuts herself off. “Nick is gonna kill me if he finds out I told you any of this.”
Franziska made a mental note of Maya’s ramblings before speaking again.
“Well, if he does I suppose I would just have to find him guilty on your behalf.”
Maya smiled teasingly, her eyes shimmering with playful malice.
“Wow, you would do that for me? I guess you really do have a heart!”
Franziska spluttered some excuse out, but it was clear Maya wasn’t listening.
They continued walking a few more steps before Franziska spoke again.
“So, if not to watch Phoenix Wright, why did you sit in a trial?”
“Well I-“ Maya began before backtracking, “Wait, hold on a minute! How did you know I sat in a trial? I could’ve just been here for a book or something! How do you know I don’t just really like the food here?”
Franziska couldn’t help but let a smile sneak onto her face.
“You have some court confetti caught in your hair.”
Sure enough, the tiny multi colored scraps of paper clung to the thick, dark strands of Maya’s hair. The light caught onto the tips of the confetti as she stepped into and out of the reach of streams of light that flowed through the court house’s windows.
Maya laughed, reaching up to grab one off her head.
“So I do!”
She held the light blue piece of paper up to the light, squinting to look at it as if it were something much more valuable. She laughed once more, trailing off into a contented sigh.
“Yeah, I came to watch your trial, actually! Surprise! Bet you didn’t see me up there.”
The rhythmic clicking of Franziska’s heels halted as she stopped momentarily, stunned.
Maya stopped too, a few steps ahead, and turned to look back at Franziska.
“What? You okay?”
Franziska shook her head and kept walking, speeding up to meet Maya.
“I’m fine.”
Their steps matched. Again.
Franziska didn’t even take the time to regain her mental composure before she began to question Maya.
“Why on earth did you come to watch me? Are you trying to find flaws in my work to hold against me? It won’t work, my case was flawless-“
Maya interrupted, waving her hands about as she spoke.
“No, no, no!! Hang on a second, whoa, no! I didn’t come to like… sabotage you or something! That would be so weird! And mean too, who would do that?”
Franziska could think of a few people, but she kept her mouth shut.
“And I came to watch you because I wanted to? I mean anyone can just walk in and I hadn’t seen you in a while. Plus I didn’t have a way to contact you so…”
The gears in Franziska's brain turned at lightning speeds trying to comprehend the sheer madness behind Maya’s actions. Consistently, she got stuck on one thing.
Maya wanted to see me?
Franziska sighed, hoping it masked the whirlwind of broken logic and emotion swirling around in her mind as she spoke.
“Well, next time you want to contact me you don’t have to attend a trial. Just call me.”
Maya pouted.
“Well this was more fun! Plus, like I said before, I don’t have your number or anything…”
Impulsively, Franziska pulled a business card and pen out of her jacket pocket. Scribbling as best as she could while walking, she wrote down the digits of her cell’s number in admittedly still very neat handwriting and then shoved the paper in Maya’s direction before she had the sense to abandon the entire idea.
“There. Now you do.”
Maya oooh’d at the card, tilting it back and forth to see the shimmer of the ink, still wet.
“Did you just give me your cell phone number?”
Franziska coughed into her hand.
“The number that’s written is often busy and hardly ever checked. If you need me in an emergency, the number I’ve written will be more effective.”
Maya smirked.
“Looks like you should update your business cards then.”
Franziska refused to let her face or voice betray emotion.
“Looks like I should.”
As she spoke, the pair finally reached the doors to the courthouse entrance, swinging out to a single ray of setting sunlight shimmering through the clouds. Despite the gray skies, the world seemed to be cast in a warm, comforting light.
A car was waiting at the curb, and Franziska knew it was for her. The thought shouldn’t have made her feel as disappointed as it did.
“Well, looks like this is where we part!” Maya commented. “See you later!”
Franziska nodded, “Goodbye,” and walked towards the street.
She had only gotten one foot into the car when she heard Maya call out to her, one final time.
“Hey Franziska! You should know, there’s some confetti stuck in your hair too!”
Her voice carried, a bubbly sound, and when it reached Franziska’s ear she got the distinct feeling she would find herself playing it over again in her mind.
She didn’t respond and closed the door.
As the car began to rumble down the road, Franziska reached up to touch her hair, and found herself pulling out a violet scrap of paper.
She smiled.
“So there is.”

A Second Chance: Chapter 2
An Ace Attorney fanfic. Read on both AO3 and FF.net!
Summary: Miles learns the identity of his "dead" mother, and the aftermath of that revelation is a tricky one. Especially when his newfound little sister is trying to turn him into a spirit medium.
AKA Miles is a Fey. Miles also doesn't really know how to family properly.
[Chapter 1] | [Chapter 3]
Comments make my day! :D
The Sisters
Straightening himself and brushing non-existent dirt off his coat, Miles knocked on the door of Wright & Co. Law Offices. There was a buzzer, but Phoenix had requested him to knock instead. That way he wouldn’t freak out at an unexpected client.
It also meant he could take his time to answer the door.
Miles would never admit to being impatient… okay, he was. But this time he wouldn’t mind stalling. He kept his gaze on his shoes and tightened the grip on his briefcase.
He’d called in sick that day (per Gumshoe’s very adamant request) and had spent the morning thinking and composing himself. Also, he had been trying to work up the courage to come here. Once he’d made up his mind (and hadn’t changed it on the way to the car), he hadn’t bothered changing into something professional. So there he was in his white shirt, black overcoat, and brown trousers (he’d called them as such in front of Wright once, and the man had exclaimed “Jesus how much more British can you get?!”... he’d felt self-conscious about them after that). He felt like wearing his prosecutor’s suit may ruin the image of an older brother.
An older brother.
He couldn’t help but feel agitated, knowing he was the only one who knew the secret thus far. Well, apart from Gumshoe, but he hardly counted. He’d already spent too long thinking about Maya and Phoenix’s reaction that he didn’t want to waste any more of his heart going down that road again.
Finally, Phoenix answered the door. “Hi Edgeworth!” He said, with that charming smile he always seemed to wear.
“Good afternoon, Wright.”
He noticed that Phoenix look him over. He’d never come to their office in casual clothes before. He tried not to shuffle awkwardly, but thankfully Wright invited him in before he got the chance.
He had never been very good with people.
“What’s up?” Phoenix asked, once inside. He motioned for Miles to take off his coat, so he did and handed it to him.
Damn. This wasn’t the time to blush.
“Hey, are you okay? You look exhausted even for you.”
Wright looked genuinely concerned.
“I’m fine, thank you. I was working until rather late last night, that’s all. I’m not working today though.” Miles added after Phoenix raised his eyebrows.
What he couldn’t tell him was that he hadn’t slept a wink last night. He’d shooed Gumshoe away almost immediately after he’d calmed down, but it took a lot of convincing to get the detective to trust him to be alone. Every single second, right until morning, was spent thinking about his life, how it would have differed if he’d known the truth, and how he was supposed to announce the news that he was Misty Fey’s son.
“Wanna go get coffee or something? Or we could watch something, I’m not that busy.”
“Actually,” He said apologetically when Phoenix gestured towards the scruffy blue couch. “I’m here to talk to Miss Fey.”
If Wright tried to hide the disappointment on his face, he didn’t do a very good job.
“Oh… sure! She’s in the room over there.” He pointed to one of the few identical white doors. “I’ll come with you.”
“Um, actually,” Miles hated to break the man’s heart like this, but it was necessary. “Could we have some privacy? It’s rather important.”
Phoenix looked at the briefcase, and then back at Miles.
“That important, huh?”
A deflated Phoenix Wright was a scary thing.
“Sure. I’ll be here I guess… let me know if you guys need anything.”
Miles shot him a look of sympathy. “Thank you. But I’m warning you that it might take a while.”
Phoenix just nodded, that familiar smile returning, and then turned to continue… scrubbing the floorboards? Was he really that addicted to cleaning as the rumours said?
He took it as a sign to leave.
Gathering all of his courage, he entered the room.
Maya Fey was sitting at a small wooden table, engrossed in her work arranging… Limited Edition Steel Samurai Season 2 Silver Trading Cards?! He sincerely hoped his jealousy and awe didn’t show.
Alas, it did, and his eyes lit up. He had to refrain himself from asking about them.
Maybe this whole sibling thing wouldn’t be so bad after all.
“Hey Edgeworth! What are you doing here?”
Maya was always so positive and cheerful. Miles had an awful feeling that he was about to shatter all of that.
“Good afternoon Miss Fey.” He replied, and suddenly the finalized speech that he had spent all night learning (yes, there had been many drafts) disappeared from his mind.
He blanked. And panicked.
With a deep breath, he knew he would have to improvise. He was a prosecutor for goodness sake, he knew how to think on his feet!
“I, um, came to talk to you about something. It’s important.”
The difference with improvising in court is that he could feign confidence. For some reason, he couldn’t do that here.
Luckily for him, Maya took the hint.
“Oh… okay.” She said, her smile wavering ever so slightly. She motioned towards the chair opposite to her. “Here, you can sit down if you want.”
“Thank you.”
As he sat himself down, he carefully placed his briefcase onto the table. Maya watched his movements like a hawk.
“So, er,” He began cautiously, “we searched Misty Fey’s residence.”
“Yeah, I heard.” Was all Maya said, then suddenly she opened her mouth in confusion. “Detective Gumshoe already brought me a whole box full of stuff this morning!”
He couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at that. This may be the first time the detective acted so quickly. Well, the first time he ever succeeded in doing so.
Flashbacks of the horrid crunch of a car crash over the phone came to mind. He cleared his throat to try and rid himself of those particular memories. “That wasn’t the only box he found.”
“Really?” Maya’s eyes lit up. “What else is there?”
Miles sighed. It was now or never.
“Before I tell you, I would like to ask: what do you know about your father?”
This obviously took Maya by surprise.
“Oh… pretty much nothing, I guess. My Sis didn’t really remember him that well and said Mom never talked about him either.” She looked at him with a sudden determination. “Why? Is it to do with him? Do you know who he is?!”
“I-” He wasn’t sure how to answer. “He died. A long time ago. Not long after you were born, I’d imagine.”
As quickly as it arrived, Maya’s excitement died. Just perfect- he’d managed to crush the spirits of Phoenix Wright and Maya Fey in the span of 10 minutes.
Maya looked more miserable by the second. Time to move on.
He opened his leather briefcase. “Here, I’d like you to have a look at this picture.”
After warily taking out the picture of his- no, their parents, he handed it to her.
He hadn’t brought the entire box since he wasn’t ready to share that with the world, however, he’d brought certain items that would have served as evidence for his speech. But since the speech had been abandoned…
“That’s Mom!” She exclaimed, and he understood what she was experiencing. They’d lost their parents at a young age, albeit by different methods, and when Miles had first seen that picture he’d immediately focused on his own father. After having a very limited collection of photos to look at over the years, any new ones became a treasure.
Then Maya’s focus shifted onto the other person in the picture.
“Is that my Dad?” She asked quietly.
Miles nodded, preparing himself for that dreaded conversation. He may have forgotten his speech, but he’d faced worse in court. He could do this.
“Woah, he’s so handsome!”
What.
“Mom had good taste at least. I bet she was so sad to have to send him away!”
Maya’s enthusiasm had returned full swing, and she was practically clapping her hands with excitement.
“I, er-”
“They look so happy together!” She continued, oblivious to the heat in Miles’ cheeks. “Aw, this beats anything I could’ve imagined!”
Finally tearing her gaze away from the photograph, she looked up at Miles to see if he was sharing her joy. He wasn’t. He was confused, mostly.
Then Maya’s jaw dropped slightly. She looked down at the photo, then back at Miles. Photo, then him. Photo again, Miles again.
She laughed. “He looks a lot like you, y’know!”
Miles held his breath as the penny dropped.
Her head snapped down to study the picture again, and her grin began to wobble. “Wait is that…”
He stayed silent.
“H- That’s why he looked so familiar…” she whispered. “I remember that picture.”
Knowing exactly what picture she was talking about, Miles shuddered. It was the only photo she could have seen. The photo of his father's corpse, lying in that cursed elevator, blood streaming out of his gunshot wound. The photo that still haunted him to that day, despite knowing he wasn’t the cause of it.
Now it would haunt Maya too. He suddenly felt cruel.
She eventually looked back up at him. “My dad is Gregory Edgeworth?”
He nodded slowly.
“But that would mean-”
Miles brought up a finger to shush her. “Hold on a moment.” He said as he rummaged through his briefcase for the other photograph he’d brought, before handing it over to let her examine it.
It was a smaller photo that had been lying underneath the letter, so he hadn’t discovered it until later on the previous night. It was a picture of Misty Fey nursing a sleeping baby boy in her arms, with a young brown-haired girl peeking curiously over her shoulder. Though the baby seemed content enough, Misty had tears rolling down her cheeks. And yet she still had the small trademark Fey smile on her face.
Her expression was one that Maya wore now.
“Sis is way too young for that to be me. Is it…” She waited for Miles to finish her thought, but when he didn’t she continued. “...you?”
“I believe so, yes.” He said, voice breaking. Damn it, he was getting emotional now.
Maya leaned back in her chair and sat still for a few moments, mouth open and eyes wide. Her tears had stopped, but they had left their marks on her face. Miles felt anxious about her response but knew that it was his responsibility to tell her the truth. Especially as her-
“Oh my god, YOU’RE MY BROTHER!” Maya squealed, and he could hardly process how quickly she’d jumped out of her seat and ran around to squeeze him, and he flinched at the unexpected contact.
Almost straight away, she pulled back, as if realizing what she was doing. “You’re my… brother.” She repeated quieter, presumably as the implications sank in.
“I am.” He confirmed. She looked up at him.
“I just don’t believe it. All along! I wouldn’t’ve thought you were such a jerk if I’d known!”
Miles cocked his head. “Thank you..?”
Gently, he pushed her away from his side. “Now listen Miss Fey, I understand if you don’t want anything to change between us. We don’t even have to tell Wright. After finding out that you’ve lost your father, it may be better just to carry on as nor-”
“Are you kidding?!”
Miles blinked. “No?”
“Dude, you’re my brother! All this time I thought I was alone. My sister was murdered and then my Mom was murdered- I never even thought about my Dad really- and then I find out I still have a brother! This is awesome!”
Whatever reactions Miles had predicted in his mind, this was not one of them. Why was she being so supportive?
“Why are you so supportive of the idea? I tried to get you convicted for murder!” He exclaimed, genuinely shocked.
“‘Cause you’re my brother, duh!”
He wasn’t sure when the roles had swapped, but now he was the one who had eyes brimming with tears. It was contagious, and soon she began to sob again too.
When she hugged him again, he didn’t pull away. Instead, he held her tightly, if somewhat awkwardly, and genuinely didn’t want to let go.
This was his little sister. The universe definitely tried hard to take everything away from him, but it failed. Oh goodness, it failed. And at that moment, that one blissful moment of siblings embracing, he felt calm. Everything was going to be okay.
Maya jerked backwards suddenly. “I have to tell Sis!”
“Wait, what-”
“Hold on I’ll channel her, you need to tell her too!” She cried.
“No! There’s no need! She’s resting, leave her be!” She was dead, but that's the same thing, right?
But Maya wasn’t listening, she had already crossed her fingers and furrowed her brows in concentration. The Magatama thing around her neck started to glow.
Miles began to panic again. He’d only thought about Maya, and not even considered Mia Fey at all. Cursed spirit channeling!
He turned to look at the door and wondered if Phoenix was listening in. Probably not, since he’d been very interested in his own chores, but he couldn’t help but wonder nonetheless.
He’d planned a different speech entirely to tell Phoenix.
“Edgeworth?”
That wasn’t Maya’s voice.
He turned again to see a familiar face in Maya’s clothing, looking at him in confusion. He frowned- the last thing he wanted to do was to go through that entire conversation again.
“Hello, Miss Fey.” He said, shaking slightly. Though he’d seen this practice in court before, he doubted he would ever get used to the concept of spirit channeling.
“What’s going on? Maya didn’t leave a note, so I’m a little confused.”
She looked more than a little confused, but Miles wasn’t going to point that out.
“After searching your mother’s house, we found out that your father is my father, and I’m your mother’s son. I’m your brother.”
Wow, ripping the bandaid off in one go really does make it easier.
Mia appeared sceptical. “What?”
“See for yourself.” Miles replied, gesturing towards the pair of photographs on the table.
Mia pulled them towards her and studied them, her face scrunching up slightly as she did so.
She gasped. “You’re… you’re our brother?”
Her reaction was definitely less emotional and dramatic than Maya’s, but Miles could still sense the shock coming from her.
“I am.” He nodded, feeling a sense of deja vu.
“Oh… Oh god, I shouldn’t’ve said all those shitty things about you after our first trial!”
Like sister, like sister, even at his own expense. Wait…
“OH!” He shouted suddenly as he brought up a hand to cover his mouth. He looked away in shame. “The horrid things I called you… even in court…”
Mia raised a hand. “An eye for an eye. Never mention it again?”
He copied her action. “Agreed.”
And then they both laughed. And, for the first time in a while, Miles felt safe. It all felt unreal. This wasn't him, this couldn't be happening. It was probably a dream, so he'd enjoy it while he still could.
“I can’t believe it…” Mia said after they’d settled. “I knew our Dad was a defense attorney, and I’d even researched Gregory Edgeworth once I became one. God, it all makes sense! That’s why Mom agreed to help, and why it was such a big deal to her.” She held her head in her hands, and her stolen black hair fell in front of her face. “I’m so stupid,” she muttered, “I should’ve put two and two together!”
“In your defence,” Miles responded, “I didn’t either. And it is rather obvious now.”
“My Dad was a Brit.”
Miles chuckled again. “He was.”
Without warning, Mia’s embarrassed expression turned into one of sympathy.
“I’m so sorry Miles.”
Now it was his turn to be confused. “Why?”
“We all lost our father at a young age, but Maya and I never found out, and we didn’t really mind since we still had our Mom. But you had no-one…”
Miles was about to argue that he had Von Karma, but decided against it. It wasn’t the time to bring him up. It was probably never going to be, either.
“There’s nothing we could have done.” He said sadly.
Mia scoffed. “Yeah but…” she cut herself off with a smirk. “You’ve got a little sister to take care of now.”
“I already have a little sister-” He argued instinctively, then cringed. He shouldn’t have said that to his dead biological older sister.
Still, Mia seemed to show understanding. “Franziska Von Karma, right? She’s still your sister, just as much as Maya is. Maybe even more than her. But I'm warning you, Maya is a hell of a lot clingier.” She paused. “How did she take it?”
Of course, Mia wouldn’t know since she was busy being dead. “Not how I’d expected, but good. I think she’s happy.”
Mia smiled. “Good.”
They sat in silence for a few minutes, in which Miles wished he could have properly met Mia Fey while she was alive, but it was eventually broken by Mia herself.
“You should tell Diego.”
The happiness and warmth that Miles had felt began to dissolve.
“Wh-What?”
“Diego Armando. He told me he worked under Gregory Edgeworth briefly, and he never had a bad word to say about him. I think he deserves to know.”
Diego Armando was a defense attorney that he had faced off against in court a few times but never had the chance to meet properly in person. Even Miles struggled against him, though he would never admit it. The man was poisoned by Miss Dahlia Hawthorne and was in a coma for 5 years. When he woke up, he disguised his identity under the name “Godot”, and was recently convicted for…
A shaky hand was brought to his mouth, and he felt sick to the stomach.
“H-He murdered our mother…”
It was the first time that fact had really sunk in, and Miles hated it.
All of a sudden his shoulders were being gripped tightly. He was forced to look into Mia’s eyes.
“Yes, he did kill our mother.” She stated, matter-of-factly. “But he also saved our sister, whether that was his intention or not. He also mourned me, Miles. He may be a criminal, but he is nothing like Manfred Von Karma. Don’t you dare compare him to him. Deep down, he's a good man.”
“I-I won’t.” Miles replied and for the first time in his life, he genuinely felt like a little brother.
Releasing his shoulders with a satisfied look, she stood up and made her way to where Maya had originally been sitting.
“I’ll let Maya come back now. I’m sure you both have a lot of catching up to do, and I presume Phoenix doesn’t know yet either. You’ll tell Diego, won’t you?”
“You have my word.” Is what he said, but he still felt very hesitant.
“Good.” She said firmly. “I hope to speak to you again soon, Miles.”
Averting his eyes as her figure began to morph into Maya’s, he glanced at the door again. Mia was right, he was yet to tell Phoenix. How would he react, finding out that two of his friends were related? Would he break ties with him? Go into denial?
“Edgeworth!”
It was his turn to smile. This had all gone far better than expected. “Miss Fey.”
Maya (she was back to Maya now) frowned, and Miles immediately took back that last statement. “Dude, we’re siblings now, if you call me Miss Fey again I will end you.”
Once he was certain she was joking, he let himself laugh a little. Perhaps his little sisters weren’t that different after all.
“Alright, Maya.”
It felt strange on his tongue, but he could get used to it. Hopefully.
“Right, what are you up to?”
Both siblings’ heads snapped towards the door, where Phoenix stood with his arms crossed playfully. The pout looked quite authentic though…
He realized that the scene he'd walked into must look very odd, with one friend laughing hysterically and the other letting out a rare chuckle, both with tear tracks on their cheeks.
Now he had another hurdle to cross. Luckily he’d remembered his speech for Phoenix. He would have to be gentle in his delivery and be certain he had the correct order of facts. Reaching out to pick up the photos, he stood up and took a deep breath. It was time.
“We-”
“Guess what Nick?!" Maya yelled, startling him. "Edgeworth’s my brother!”
Oh.
Oh no.

Video Games as Interactive Storytelling
As I previously established, video games are a worthwhile form of storytelling, combining the best aspects of books, movies, and comics. They are unique among mediums, however, for being a truly interactive form of media. They are games, after all, and thus incorporate aspects play and choice.
Environment
Because you, the player, control the character, you experience the world as if you were in it, much more than in any other medium. You explore the environment. You fight the boss, and experience the struggle of battle. You help various NPCs, or non-player characters, with tasks. You make friends and allies, and fight alongside them. Although I never like my favorite characters getting hurt in any medium, when people attack my allies in video games, it's personal.
And that's what video games do: offer an incredibly personal experience. Unlike books, movies and comics, where you have to read from start to finish, video games let you meander and spend time in the setting. In games like Zelda, Okami, or Dark Souls, you can discover secrets that aren't necessarily part of the main plot. These can include hidden areas or side quests. Sometimes these add to your understanding of the story or make the main plot more emotionally impactful. For instance, I actually did all those side quests for people in Okami, so the cutscene during the final boss fight was personal to me. I helped those people; they were lending their strength to me.
You can also gawk at the extra details of the world. One of my favorite examples of this is in Skyrim, where you can read books of short stories or admire intricately carved Nordic architecture, neither of which are important to the story or gameplay, but which make the experience more complete and immersive. I like to wonder at the fact that some person was paid to write those stories and design those carvings; they’re neat little details that someone at the studio thought were important enough to put into the game.
Even a game as linear and straightforward as the Ace Attorney series allows for a sort of exploration. Though you can only "move" through a series of set-like locations during the investigation stages, you can click on almost every object in order to hear banter between you and your assistant. While this doesn't generally offer much in the way of world or story building (unless the object turns out to be a crucial piece of evidence) it does let us experience more chemistry between the characters, endearing them to us even more.
Choice
Games in which the player’s choices effect the story obviously offer an interesting experience. Certain games have binary choices—send this character to the safety of the cathedral, or to be experimented on in a laboratory!—while others have branching trees and dozens or hundreds of possible endings. Many games incorporate a morality system, where the more bad choices one makes make for a darker ending, with the best result being the “Good ending” and the worst result, the “Bad ending”; many games opt for multiple bittersweet conclusions.
While some such games have fairly blank-slate, player-insert characters as protagonists (that is, they don’t have too much personality, because the player can fill that in), others have very specific motivations, while still offering choice. My sister was describing her initial frustration, in Red Dead Redemption 2, that she could only make not-so-good choices in some of the side quests. This makes sense, given that you are playing as an outlaw in a gang, but was still annoying in a game that claimed to give one choices. She was later delighted, though, after something important happens to the character (spoiler: they find out they have tuberculosis, which not only makes them sympathize with one of their former victims of the same condition, but also forces them to come to terms with their decisions, as time is running out), and good options start opening up. The way the game presented choices made sense for that individual character while still giving the player the freedom to reject certain choices if they want. Masterful!
Happenstance
I will say, however, that player choice is not totally unique to games, as Choose Your Own Adventure books were and occasionally still are a thing. Programmers can program in more possible choices than can be contained in a physical book, but the storytelling principal is the same. More interesting, I think, is video games’ ability to create random happenstance. What do I mean? Depending on what the player does when, they might stumble onto a part of a game in a different way than other players.
For example, in Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time, musical themes for each location play during the day, while nighttime has only sound effects. As anyone who has played Ocarina can tell you, the Gerudo Valley theme is some of the coolest, most adventurous music in the franchise, and it starts playing in the canyon, before you arrive at the desert. In order to get to the desert the first time, you jump your horse over a broken bridge, which feels pretty awesome to a first time player. But for me, it was more. I arrived on horseback at the canyon at dawn, rode to the edge as the castanets of the Gerudo Valley theme started playing. Just as I jumped, the sun came over the horizon and the guitar began! I could have sworn there was even a lens flare, but that might have been my imagination reacting to the epicness of what was happening. It was a totally random, unrepeatable event, and I’ll never forget it.
In Okami, I never knew that going through some torii gates led into mystical areas while going around them led to ordinary shrines, because I always went a certain way. Thus, my mind was blown when I discovered, after following a little sparrow girl through a gate, that what had once been a solid wall was actually a pathway. It wasn't until my second play through that I went around the gate of the first shrine, which led to a glowing portal to a celestial world, and discovered nothing but an ordinary statue in a moss-covered cave. I never knew!
In another Zelda example, every player had a different experience of their first Blood Moon in Breath of the Wild. Blood Moons are events that serve to replenish the enemies in the area, but in-game are meant to be the malice of the main enemy infecting the environment and causing monsters to resurrect. They happen at random, and are preceded by the music changing, the light dimming, black wisps issuing out of the ground, and, of course, the full moon turning red. My brother first experienced it while looking at some goats in a pasture outside an inn, while my sister experienced it after climbing up a tower to reach a treasure chest. Never having heard that Blood Moons were a thing, their thoughts, respectively, were, “What the HECK is wrong with these goats!?” and “I’m sorry I’m sorry I’m sorry! I’ll put it back!” I’m sure others have their own fun stories of their initial horror at what was happening.
Social Interaction
Cast your mind back to when this whole diatribe of mine began (many weeks ago), when I mentioned a coworker of mine saying that video games don’t inspire social interaction. Just the opposite is true, and it always has been.
One of the first, if not the first video games was the two-player game, pong. Though not actually a story game, this led the way for more two player, and then multiplayer games. Kids used to go to each other's houses and play Mario Brothers or Bubble Bobble; now, they interact with friends and strangers across the country in online, multiplayer games. There are even games that have “emotes”, special moves you can do to communicate with other players without voice chat. Others let you vote for another player as the MVP of each round to show your appreciation. Lest you think it’s all online, Nintendo is keeping in-person multiplay alive and well with games like Mario Kart, Mario Party, and Smash Brothers.
Single player games, too, invite interaction. Pre-internet, people would spread hints and strategy and cheat codes by word of mouth. “How did we know how to do that move without reading the manual?” my sister asked, recalling some odd special move in an older game. “I think a friend must have told me, and they probably heard it from one of their friends.” Nowadays, internet forums and Let’s Play videos serve the same purpose: a community of gamers helping each other out and spreading information about games.
I myself have talked repeatedly about what my brothers and sister experienced in their playthroughs. Some of this is because some games are too hard for me (like, every game FromSoft will ever make), but a lot of it is just because there was one TV and not enough time for me to start my own game. I’ve never actually played Sekiro or Bloodborne or Last Guardian, but I’ve watched people play all of them from start to finish, so I still have that experience. My brother and I both gasped when we first encountered a Mist Noble and its enchantment in Sekiro (and my advice, “Kill it with fire!” worked like a charm). My sister and I squeed over the griffin-dog-thing’s cute antics in Last Guardian. Unlike books, comics, and movies, which are best enjoyed in silence, video games invite conversation during play.
Online streams offer a similar experience. Even here, choice rears its head. Some streamers play it straight, from start-to-finish, with little editorializing. Others derp around doing a lot of nonsense, or add hilarious commentary, often adding their own layer of storytelling to the mix. Viewers of said streams can type comments in real-time, so that the streamer interacts not only with the game but with his viewers, and the entire experience is like one big conversation. Who said video games don’t inspire social interaction?
Community
Right about now is when I connect this new form of storytelling to something ancient. Books are the new songs and poems, movies are the new plays, and comics are the new tapestries and hieroglyphics. What, then, are video games? As I said before, they take elements from all of these other mediums: video games are the new bard adding their own lyric to a song, or the actor playing a well-known role a different way, perhaps due to choice or happenstance.
But mostly, video games are the new play, that most primal and primordial of all human storytelling. We play as soon as we can think, and play act as soon as we can walk. Children assign themselves roles and act them out together. Humans are communal creatures, after all, who process narratives by interacting with other humans.
To some extent, all storytelling is like this, as it is one human telling something to another rather than keeping it in their head. Video games, though, bring back the communal aspect of storytelling. Wanting to take part in stories—whether as a child going on adventures with friends, or an adult participating in a narrative ceremony, or anyone telling a story around a fire to a group of rapt and responding listeners—is part of being human.
At some point, however, that part of life got chopped off and shunted to the corner, as if adults shouldn’t desire narrative play unless they are writers. Thus, video games are put down as childish, or geeky, or not as valid as books. Oddly, they are stereotyped as being something beloved by loners, which ignores the vibrant and vocal gaming community.
I’m not sure where the animus towards gaming comes from. Why is immersing oneself in an imaginary world while staring at a book is considered high-brow, but doing the same while staring at a screen considered low? I don’t know, nor do I want to. What I do know is that some of the most unique, innovative, and emotional, stories I’ve ever seen have been those in video games, and I hope that in the future, more people give them a chance.
And those, dear readers, gamers, viewers, and story lovers of all stripes, are my thoughts on video games.

Shield Hero 20 - 22 | Sarazanmai 7 - 9 | BSD 32 - 34 | Fruits Basket 8 - 9 | Demon Slayer 8 - 10 | OPM 20 - 21
Shield Hero 20
Motoyasu getting dragged by Filo was funny…not enough to get a proper laugh though. Just a smirk or two.
Stop narrating and just get on with it, Naofumi and friends…!
“I was saying we should fight together all along.” (from Itsuki) – Were you, now…? (skeptical)
Ass-pull! I call “ass-pull” at the power to swallow the phoenix flame! Seriously, when did the dragon get the opportunity to teach Naofumi how to do that???
How did Naofumi not die after losing so much blood…?
What does the Q even stand for in the queen’s name…?
Sarazanmai 7
The seagulls…so fluffy…
For some reason, I expect a fakeout, but then it never arrives…these boys are really connecting…
I found some kappa croquette thingy online, but it referred to a “Shiki City” which probably isn’t in Asakusa…
The shirt…Kazuki’s shirt says “frog” but I get the feeling it also means “return”.
Shirohasu water. It’s Irohasu in Japan.
Was the lyric to Kawausoiya (the otter song) “gonna take ‘em”…?
Nice ET reference, Sara.
Balls…not just sport entendre, but…y’know. The sort of humour I don’t like as much.
Ooh…Keppi is shaping up to be the bad guy. But what plans does he have? Am I speculating too much and is he being framed? Hard to know until next time…
BSD 32
When Kyouka is eating the sundae, she looks like the Tofu Kyouka from Mayoi…hmm.
Can I confess something? Before I saw the illustrations for s2, I thought Louisa’s hair was much darker than what it is in the anime…hmmm, indeed.
I don’t think we were ever told (in the manga or the anime) what Louisa’s wish was…
This bit with Fyodor…I don’t think it was in the manga.
Subarashi-sou is a pun on “it seems wonderful”. That wasn’t in the manga, but it’s a great pun (because it’s right up my alley).
Fitz laughing at the neighbour’s TV wasn’t in the manga either, but that’s just the anime director’s humour peeking through.
“Blalack Daniel’s”, LOL.
Ohh…a quick Google reveals TJ Eckleberg is from the Great Gatsby. In there, he’s an eye doctor, but here, he’s an engineer.
George B Wilson is also from the Great Gatsby…Here be spoilers, but…George dies in his original work too.
Manhasset is a place in New York…I assume it’s connected to the Great Gatsby as well…
Oh yeah! Random Poe moment. That’s in the manga, so Igarashi (or whoever’s responsible for the terrible humour) doesn’t have to fake that bit.
Cue “Objection!” by Fitz, lemme guess. Even if I know the outcome and how it was done, I’d like to have my memory refreshed (by stabbing in the dark…and making an Ace Attorney joke in the process).
I already know, without googling, that Tom Buchanan is part of Great Gatsby as well…
Bank of Amerigo…LOL.
Fruits Basket 8
“If you show up for the banquet now…”
“The banquet sounds just like the folk tale!” Honestly, subbers, proofread…
Haa-kun and Haa-san. No distinguishing between them (aside from honorifics), even though they’re two completely different people.
Hatori’s squinty face was…hilarious, to put it simply.
Oh…I forgot the dance seems to be something the animal of the year does. So if Yuki was 3 years ago, it makes sense Momiji is doing it this year.
Best seat in the house for a sunrise, huh?
Kimetsu no Yaiba 8
I’ve seen Muzan being described as “Demon Michael Jackson” and now I can’t get that out of my head when I see him…sorry.
Tsukihiko, huh? It translates to “moon’s radiance” or something like that. That name is appropriate for a bad guy, isn’t it?
This is the first time I’ve really listened to the OST (aside from the OP and ED), so it’s…really something.
Ooh, I didn’t realise until now, but Ufotable even imitated the paper Jump is printed on with the next-ep previews…
OPM 2 8 (OPM 20)
Er…I haven’t mentioned it for the past few episodes, but Suiryu is hotttttttt. (No? I said that? Okay, next step.) That’s basically the only reason why I’m watching anymore…I can’t seem to find anyone who thinks positively of this tournament arc enough to do reviews of it that I can read, which has made my own opinion of this beloved series go down the drain…Also, if you weren’t aware, my taste lies not in Suiryu’s huge bulk, but rather in the fact he’s got long hair.
Didn’t Suiryu get pierced in the abs??? Where’s the blood coming from his injuries??? Update: He does have injuries there, they’re just not bloody…that’s all.
The main criticism for OPM 2 is the fact that it keeps cutting between different events, so it’s hard to follow. Well, I’ve had worse (see Concrete Revolutio) so that’s why I’m still here.
People say that clothing changes you – say if you put on a new outfit, you feel like a new person. (Of course, that’s all glamorising and praising consumption, but that’s beside the point here.) I think that’s what’s up with Max and Snek.
Shield Hero 21
“…the Shield Hero is worshipped.”
Really? Boob jiggle, at a time like this??? (Context: Malty is getting th slave crest painted on her.)
Wait, was there ever a Shield Church???
Okay, that felt like a real seasonal ending. What the heck is going to happen in the last few episodes, I wonder…?
Sarazanmai 8
Chikai knows the real meaning of YOLO…heh. I’m only kidding…
To be honest, I think I like Toi best out of the main trio. I tend to like the boys in blue…and no, I don’t mean the otter police.
Kazuki’s service provider is “Kappa Phone”, LOL.
When Reo held up the gun, I was yelling, “Enta! Get it for him!” (i.e. take the bullet) I didn’t expect him to actually do it…
…and here I thought tragic yuri was common enough and we don’t have enough Tragic Yaoi Dudes…
Notably, Toi was registered on Enta’s phone as “Kuji”, while Kazuki is registered as “Kazuki” (katakana) on Toi’s.
Shots fired…!
Update: I didn’t notice this, but the evil dude with kamome written behind him (I think it’s in this episode, but it might have been in the last one instead) must be based on a seagull…because that’s what kamome means.
Bungou Stray Dogs 33 (BSD S3 Ep 8)
I think it was around here I stopped reading the scans, because the series was picked up legally anyway…but I can see the death flags for a certain Port Mafia man…one who stands at the top.
As expected…butt shot. Igarashi (or whoever’s responsible for that shot) likes butts, so between this and Sarazanmai…*imagines image of kappa!Kazuki holding a shirikodama* There’s absolutely no buts about it (LOL), there’s no shortage of butts this season.
“To think that the rabbit being hunted would show its face…” – I think it’s hard for you to say that, Akutagawa, when you yourself have no face in that frame…
Why are both Akutagawa and Fyodor Naruto running today???
“So you’re doing this for that woman.”
What is “Mukurotoride”? I don’t seem to remember…maybe I never learnt what it was. Update: Apparently a tower in Dead Apple is called Mukurotoride.
Conspiracy time! This book sounds like Kunikida’s Ability…so imagine if it were under Dazai’s nose the entire time…
Fruits Basket 9
I love how the synopsis for this episode goes, “Kyo fights Yuki, Yuki fights a cold…”
Hatsuharu’s wearing such an ostentatious fluffy jacket…LOL, I love it.
Holy cow (LOL), I forgot how old Hatsuharu is…so that means he’s 15-ish, right?
Come to think of it…I see Fruits Basket characters in Ro Te O, which I started writing at about this time in 2013. The Azrael of that time was a hybrid of Hatsuharu, Ritsu and Ayame, Tetsuya is basically Yuki and Ryou is Kyou…hmm.
Apparently, Shigure had in the 2001 anime a song that went like, “High school girls, high school girls, cute high school girls for me.” So that’s where it was??? (Context: I haven’t seen Fruits Basket 2001, but read the entire manga.)
Kimetsu no Yaiba 9
Recap time, recap time…so the lady’s in the back room and Tanjiro conveniently forgets the man is in the basement…? Wuh?
Moya was complaining about how repetitive this show can get when it comes to the script (i.e. it repeats itself because it doesn’t trust its audience, but I think that’s because this is originally serialised on TV week by week that people may forget if they’re not bingeing, taking notes or following the manga). I’ll talk more about that in my KnY collab post, I guess…
When Yushiro said “watch your back”…he really meant it, huh?
Temari are the balls, but kemari is when you kick the balls.
“…the eyeballs on his hands are creepy.” – LOL.
Shield Hero 22
The ep title just says “Hero Council”…not specifically that there are 4 of them.
My stream’s been buffering more than usual, so I went “like mother, like daughter” before Naofumi did…
It would’ve ben massively funny to hear Melty call Malty either “Trash” or “B****”…especially the last one, because that’s always a fun way to end a sentence (especially for a girl as young as her). Update: She does, but the way she does it isn’t as funny as I thought it would be (and she doesn’t end her sentence with her sister’s new name).
Wait, I thought they got rid of her slave pact??? I thought it was only for the duration of her trial that she needed it for.
L’Arc and that lady seem like they’re foreshadowing for later…hmm. Update: The next-episode synopsis says “yes”. So does that new visual.
Sarazanmai 9
I can’t believe this show’s almost over…That means I gotta get a move on with RobiHachi, but to be honest? Non-anime things are probably going to kep me busy until…a few days from now. So I’ll get RobiHachi watched then.
Characetrs are dying en masse in this episode, aren’t they??? I saw a spoiler that (well, SPOILER) Chikai’s gonna die, but I don’t know about Enta or Keppi…Update: To be honest, I thought Chikai was going to become the next monster – a gun monster, perhaps. Maybe now that I’ve finished the episode, he’ll become a real zombie. (Hey, see what I did there with the bolding…? How’s that for hiding spoilers, eh???)
Oh yeah…I forgot Enta’s sister was Kazuki’s teacher…
There was a sign behind Masa that said”Hinode Asakusa” – “hi no de” meaning roughly “under the sun” or “leaving the sun”.
Tokarev…? The gun? Gun monster, maybe? Is this a critique of the American gun…(exaggerated voice) Nah, can’t be…this is Japanese.
Lionel…Lionel…for some reason, that name in relation to soccer seems familiar...I just can’t put my finger on who it reminds me of, though. Update: Is it, perhaps, Messi…? Yes, I think that’s the guy I was thinking of…!
Aw…I’m not crying, you are…But these words were running through my head before Toi chucked the bag of money away and yelled, “F***!”: “Everything I do, I do it for you.” Isn’t that cute…?
Bungou Stray Dogs 34
“…one by one?” Junban means “sequentially”, so I don’t see why you have to use the phrase “one by one”. Or “one at a time” would also work.
Hardbank…to contrast Softbank (a phone company in Japan).
Face-stealing aliens strike again…(re: Atsushi)
Oh flip. This reminds me of my Kunikida fic…yeah, I bet you don’t remember it.
Hey, this dude! Apparently he’s from one of Kunikida’s stories. I really am approaching the end of what I know of canon…*gulp* Update: Oops, we already passed that part…
I wonder if the real Fyodor could play cello…? Or is this just a thing to make him ominous and villanous…?
The cross on the wall behind Kunikida…makes this show more like Eva than Kekkai Sensen…exquisite. Absolutely exquisite, isn’t it?
Another cool cross, behind Tanizaki!
What’s a tatamigatana? Also, I didn’t know other people could be synchronised using Doppo Poet and Ranpo’s deduction…
Does Kouyou mean (by “the one I most despise”)…Chuuya? Or herself? It’s definitely not Ace.
Kimetsu no Yaiba 10
Headpats for Yushiro as well! Headpats for everyone!
There’s a lot of Tanjiro being terrified in this episode…
Wait…Kizuki? I thought they were the 12 Moons? (Well, “tsuki” means “moon”, but then what’s the “ki”?) Update: The “ki” means “demon”, so the Kizuki are the 12 Demon Moons.
Being alone with the body…that’s always a scary thought in murder mysteries…for the people who dissect them to determine the cause of death, that is.
Considering the name of the episode is “Together Forever”…nup, I don’t see Nezuko and Tanjiro separating anytime soon…
The Kasugai crow is what happens when you can’t turn off your Google Assistant…or GPS…or Siri.
If Tanjiro knows the name of his crow, how do the crows get their names? Do their trainers (is that the right term for a crow breeder in this case…?) give them names?
OPM S2 Ep 9 (Ep 21)
LOL, that one shot of the ants…JC Staff really don’t care about this series, do they…?
I kinda forgot about Genos after a bit more than a week…sorry, I was watching other anime in between. (More than usual, at least. I started playing Chibi Tamago – a forum game for AniList where you collect badges for watching anime - that’s why.)
Did he (Pri-Pri Prisoner)…store his phone in his butt…?

Do you guys have any kind of moderation for the cytube? today i went to watch and someone made a rape joke, which made me incredibly uncomfortable. When I tried to call the person on it ( hoping for an apology) i was immediately called a "whiney sjw" and people told me to leave the user who had made hte joke alone. I know this is not the fault of cr staff and Im not trying to imply that but i was uncomfortable and thought CR mods might want to know, as I now feel unwelcome in the cytube :/ thx
Hey - I’m really, really sorry about this.  I (Bolt) wasn’t there for today’s streams, but other mods were supposed to be.  Either there was a mix-up in who was there, they missed when this happened, or they weren’t taking it seriously enough.  In any event, we messed up.  We try to be fairly lax about chatroom stuff but this sounds like a clear-cut case of things going too far.
We only have one E3 stream left tomorrow, but I’ll be there and I promise I’ll do my best to clamp down on any trouble.  I’m posting this publicly because I don’t think this should just be swept under the rug, and because I know we need to be better at moderating.
UPDATE: At the insistence of the other party, we are adding a statement from them about what they said.  I want to emphasize two things: 1, we do not endorse this statement, and 2, regardless of the exact details, the behavior described in this ask would not be appropriate.  We unfortunately do not have logs of this exact moment, hence why they felt the need to reach out, but regardless, our message stands: we needed to do better here.
Their statement is under his cut:
I was accused of having made a rape joke on cytube while watching the E3 live stream. I did not.Let me first repeat (from memory, as there are no logs) what I said before explaining:
When they showed a game that looked like a sequel to Conker’s Bad Fur Day, I said: “They’re raping Conker’s BFD!”
When someone suggested “americanizing” DGS, I said, that would be “raping the original story”
I used the word “rape” not to joke about physically harming an actual or fictional person in any way, I used it to metaphorically describe the utter disrespect and defilement of a work of art, not to make light of any person suffering actual harm. Now English is not my first language, but the argument that using the word out of a sexual context would be “normalizing rape” seems wrong to me. I would argue that crying wolf all the time makes it harder for actual victims to be believed.
While talking about me, they stated that they “h8 straight ace attorney fans”. I was saddened that they felt it was appropriate to bring my sexual orientation into this and just assuming I was “straight”. I didn’t personally attack any real or fictional person using the word (nor was I refering to the actual act of rape) and I would appriciate if they would offer the same courtesy to me. Thank you.

my three favourites are probably "Bugsnax: A Psychological Horror for Kids!", "The Beautiful Tale of To The Moon" and any of the "A Man Who Loves Crime Plays Ace Attorney" videos. This was actually a really difficult one because series such as Fable, Pokémon and of course, Hitman exist, but I'd say those three are probably my favourites right now. Also love a lot of the Irish Lads videos! Oh! The Mario videos are pretty pog too. Basically I like too much of his content. -rumbletumblegalaxy :D
AAAAA i apologize for the late reply!! your thoughts are so valid all of his content is just pure 10/10, all the time, and no one can have a concrete list (i’ve changed my top 3 the moment i posted that initial post shdjjsjd)
the bugsnax video took me a while to get around to watching it primarily bc the game itself didn’t look that appealing but my god i would have watched it sooner bc that game was a trip and a half
i do wanna say there was a heartwarming moment off-video where rt accidentally misgenders one of the characters and makes an effort to fix it after chat notifies him abt it and it was just a part of the stream (ended up having one of the vods open to help me focus on schoolwork) but it caught me off guard and made me smile, it was just validating to hear
to the moon has a special place in my heart i remember watching markiplier playing it and seeing rt play it for the first time was sort of a magical experience; he somehow added a touch of wonder as he was playing - for me it was kind of like watching a really valued friend play a game you really like, it was nice
i remember on stream there was a moment where he almost cried to laura shigihara’s “everything’s alright” and honestly fuckin same i forgot how emotional that part of the game was!!
and ace attorney was just fuckin wild…. honestly the twists and turns the game makes you go through is borderline infuriating but also fucking hilarious and honestly my favorite part of the series is rt nearly breaking down by the end of that 4th case (turnabout goodbyes??? i think) because,,,dsbhdjs he had to cross examine a parrot and go through trials for 2 separate cases and use a metal detector in court to prove that the prosecutor he was against actually killed the victim instead of the defendant, who at the time was nine!!!!! and should not have been facing jail even if he did it sjfjdjjd that case was so WILD but i enjoyed the rollercoaster sm
oh yeah and also rt’s von karma voice…….. god bless one of the most comedic parts of any video game series ever
