if i had a nickel for every bnha ship with the trope "don't fall in love with the blond boy", i'd have so many nickels it isn't even funny

who of your faves are you picking for a hula hoop competition? there are many wrong answers.
The only thing I’m picking is your ass up and hauling you to court for harassing me, an innocent woman.

Everytime that I think about Mirio, I remember that one shift-toker who confirmed (at least in their DR) that he loves chubby girls with a passion, and I just can't tell if I should be happy I could pull him here, or upset that I can't pull him in my DR

Glad to know Tomura has the sense of humor of a 5 year old kid (Tenko) but sad to see the League was not there to witness it.
Toga and Dabi won't ever forgive for it.

Thinking about... younger man/older woman dynamics. You try to break up with him because he needs to get with someone "his age", even if you're only a few more years than socially acceptable apart. He totally flips his shit and breeds you on the spot to keep you and show you just how comitted he is 🥴💖

{ Aaaaah! Thank you so much for sending this to me last night, babes! I'm sorry I didn't get to it before, but you know how much farming I had been doing in my game with Vira last night. Thank you so much for always being so kind and understanding towards me, especially since most people wouldn't want to deal with my constant mood swings. Expect to get one back from me as well! I love you! }

BNHA AU where post-War, Shigaraki and AFO have been successfully separated and Tomura survives it all abd is apprehended, and sent to a facility to be reformed. And his most frequent visitor is Mirio. Who has every intention to help him, make his time there easier, and overall just be a friend to him

I had a dream last night where they completely reanimated Heartcatch for American audiences à la Saban Moon and made it so the fairies stripped Cure Moonlight of her powers instead of her losing them in battle because the new version turned her into an Alex Russo-type rebellious asshole who abused magic for the dumbest shit, and that is why I woke up angry this morning.

And who knows?  Mirio likely saw—or at least heard about—Dabi’s video, the same way everyone else did.  So maybe it got him thinking a little about villain motivations himself.
I wouldn’t give this much credit to Horikoshi. I don’t think Dabi’s video would get Mirio thinking after Best Jeanist proved to be alive. It really looks like Horikoshi gave this line to Mirio for reasons not related to the villains :\ Like it looks like a straight up accident.
I have a hard time seeing complete accident in the text, anon, but I would believe, "Mirio doesn't actually care what answer he gets as long as it's something he can spin a conversation out of that will keep Shigaraki distracted long enough to buy Suneater more time." The kid did prove entirely willing and able to put up false fronts in that first encounter with Overhaul, after all.
Still, though, if he was asking the question to buy time, I have to assume he would go with a question he had a reasonable expectation of getting an answer to—which itself suggests that, in his experience, villains will respond to questions about their motivations. I feel like that mostly begs the question of who he learned that from, and that can really only be Nighteye or Mirio's own learned field tactics.
Nighteye absolutely carries on a conversation with Overhaul mid-battle, and not just battle banter, either: he doesn't ask about motivations, but he does ask about plans and outcomes, what Overhaul has done, where his minions are, about the effect of the bullets and Overhaul's reason for using one on Mirio.
It's not exactly the dedicated attempts to defuse fights with villains that I'm always going on about heroes' failure to make, but it's a far cry from, oh, just to pick something from the same scene, the example Aizawa was setting the chapter prior:
Tumblr media
(Just my opinion, but probably law enforcement officials should not be openly advocating for vengeance against offenders right in the middle of carrying out their duties. They should especially not do this in front of impressionable trainees)
Anyway, yeah, I'm perfectly prepared to admit that I could have been giving Mirio more credit for sincerity than Horikoshi intended, but I do think Mirio asked the question he did intentionally, not at random.
Call it a bare minimum, but the bar is truly on the floor.

Who’s to say he will still be number 1 even if he lives(which he will live)? Or that the number system will still be a thing? I could honestly see him not being number 1 anymore because he doesn’t want it anymore personally, but who knows I can’t say how this story will go
yeah i cant tell how this story will end either. if the hero system still existes (and it probably will because it's not that this war can change the villains who actually habor evil intents, it only changes the heroes and the civilians) then the ranking thing will be there. there's nothing wrong with having a chart to show who has done more good deed in this season. you can't say it's a bad thing just because it "created" someone like endeavor, which it actually didn't. endeavor turned that way is all on himself. but maybe the importance of those rankings will be lessened, and the support public ranking can off bc heroes should be counted as government workers (like police, doctor), not your super-idol even if the civilians take them as idol.
it's not that that i can't see endeavor retires, but more like i can't see who can and will replace him as the contemporary figure after this war. like i mentioned, this war will not change the minds of villains (like, actual, actual selfish, ill-intend people, not people who are cornered), it only changes the concept of hero to civilians and (villain to) heroes. it's like law, not just to punish and to be abided, but also to be feared of. there still needs to be an active (contemporary) figure to browbeat those ill intents to not carry off. there’re so many other problems to solve beside "hero and villain" too, like, discrimination against mutant, the matter of public using of quirk and its repression etc. shit surely will raise again, just not to this pinnacle of disaster.
and who would befit in that role better than the one who defeated the demon lord?
and personally, i think endeavor won't retire. his entire arc and character is about to find the balance between being a father and being a hero. and he just found that in 356. dropping his career after this is an utter waste, story-wise.
