Hey! I saw your reply to that anon ask about mandalorian, and i gotta say i agree with your view. There is something different in season 3 that i couldnt really explain, but you managed to put it into words. The past seasons feel character driven, while this season is more plot driven.

Honestly, i didnt have high expectations, because the ending of season 2 feels conclusive, so i dont know what theyre going to do after that. And when they said that din wont be the main focus of season 3, i felt a bit sad about it haha. I was thinking that maybe we're gonna explore more of din's identity crisis or something like that. But uhhhh idk. I have thoughts and emotions that i cant put into words. I hope you understand what im saying here lmao

Y'know, in hindsight - and can I really say so when we still have an episode left of Season 3, a whole ass Season 4, and however many seasons left until the Disneyfied Thrawn Trilogy Movie? - I feel comfortable saying that Din's story should've ended in Season 2 and he never should've gotten the Darksaber. I also want to argue that he got the Darksaber because Favloni did have plans for him, specifically, until something (Ahsoka and the Thrawn Trilogy and a movie) happened that made them decide to pivot hard into propping up Bo-Katan, whitewashing and sanitizing her backstory, and giving her all of Din's possible storylines. I mean, what did she really do over a season that made her better than Din, who lost everything saving Grogu from Gideon and finding a Jedi who could take him in?

Din was left alone on the bridge of Gideon's cruiser with Bo-Katan and Koska. He is truly alone. Does he follow them back to Bo-Katan's fleet, a CotW among others who don't trust him and his covert? Does he start his search for the Armorer and survivors of Nevarro? Din showed his face to another living being. What does his crisis of faith look like? We saw a glimpse of that in TBOBF; he wasn't doing too hot and then he was banished from his covert and told hwo to atone for his sins. We could've had a multi-episode arc following his journey to Mandalore and visiting the history of Mandalore and its desecration by the Empire. We could have seen him waver in his faith, struggling between what he believed and what he experienced and all the ways they intersect and conflict. Din won the Darksaber in combat. He now holds an ancient Mandalorian Jedi weapon that the Mandalorian diaspora now say marks him as Mand'alor (or the best candidate for Mand'alor). Does he grow into this role using his experience and skills earned as a bounty hunter and his covert's provider, or does he choose to surrender it to somebody else because he never wanted and still does not want the power and authority that comes with the title? Does he ever see Grogu again? Is Grogu doing well? How will they reunite? Well, TBOBF answered all those questions and we just have to accept they're back together at the start of Season 3.

Thse are just some of so many potential character-driven and character-centric stories that I'm never seeing in canon now. He's been wallflowered, pushed into the background, Bo-Katan's newest and biggest supporter in her so-called redemption arc even though you wouldn't fucking know that her redemption arc maybe should've included some mention of what she fucking did in the Clone Wars and the fucking Season 3 logo features Din and Grogu front and center.

(A lot of newer merch I see at the Disney Store, Heroes & Villains, Her Universe, etc. now feature multiple Mandalorians and Mandalorian helmets, so maybe that was a giveaway that we are following more Mandalorians now... and I am still forever struggling to find decent Din Djarin merch that puts him front and center. Fuck me, I guess)

I truly wonder what kind of Season 3 we could've gotten if Favloni, Kennedy, and Disney decided not to MCU-fy Filoni's precious darlings, if we were allowed to follow Din the way we did in the first two seasons. You could bring him back to the covert without losing him to the crowd. You could have him cross paths with Bo-Katan again and have her play a more significant role in his journey(s) without taking all of the spotlight.

I did have high expectations after Season 2, Anon, but once TBOBF came out, i realized I was fucked. And, well. Here we are.

🌷shadow and omega b oth have very complicated relationships w the concept of good bye. they don't really age or die? omega specifically has the advantage of having very limited emotion and a highly logic mind, so he would not waste energy mourning and accept when things end. Shadow is def still trying to figure it all out. as of rn in universe ofc he doesn't have to think abt it much yet, he's doing his best to prevent his friends from harm right now, and he'd rather just face the problems as they happen. especially in shth he learned that theres no use thinking about the what ifs, because there's a right now that needs to be dealt with. the more he thinks about what differenciates him from others the less he can concentrate on what matters: the things he's got in common. like the ground beneath their feet, the star they orbit around, the wind that blows in their faces... He knows about the inevitability of death enough through maria, and he will try his best to not make the same mistake twice. he's determined to move on. ofc its easier said than done, especially in the conceptual event that rouge would fall in combat or even worse.. because of a mistake that he made.. but there are so many possibilities that i could analyze we'd be here for ever.........

rouge herself i think hasdealt with loss before, and she might have had some history with people that she has cut out of her lives. it might seem cold but i think she as a person has mastered the art of severing. whether its healthy is not the question rn... she def has a very soft spot for shadow and omega, tho as stated above these two are really hard to kill so there's not much to worry about in that regard, if anything it's a worry that might not plague her right now, but eventually she's going to think about what it means to be the one that's being severed by forces beyond anyone's control

anyways i dont wanna get existential this morning so this is where i stop

👯‍♀️I headcanon rouge has some friends she regularly meets in her bar (i'll let it be open if it actually belongs to her or if she's just a regular) and she would def visit knuckles every now and then. not saying she'd like. actually talk to him tho. might just lurk in a bush and stare at the master emerald

omega is a tough one to think about tbh. i admittedly don't have too many thoughts on him outside of being part of the team... this is telling me i need to dig more into his individual character tbh. what would he do for fun? when not with the otehr two?? Maybe he actually is like a gamer playing shooters and made friends in voice chat. no one believes him when he introduced himself as killermachine, they think its just a nickname

shadow likes solitude, but i really like that one bit in the recent twitter take over where he and knuckles stood in the forest for hours watching the plants and animals and hwo the light changes throughout the day while going through the leaves etc etc... theyre both very connected to nature in their own ways and i think they could bond over that. also about how they both prefer solitude. they can be alone together! they dont need any words, they can just exist next to eachother for a few hours and feel good about it. he also most surely hangs out with sonic every now and then. hangingout being racing and having a good fight together. though im sure sonic can eventually convince him to spend proper time together. for example making a race into a trekking tour where they go random places sonic knows or doesnt know yet, and they learn about the culture and obviously the food. shadow does seem like someone who'd like to learn about the planet, and sonic's the type of guy who's super eager to have someone to show around and explore with that can keep up!

Honestly I dont know if I’ll ever love Nesta. Sjm basically wrecked most of her characters trying to justify Nesta/ give her an arc and it didn’t work for me at all. Multiple characters watered down beyond belief just for Nesta to heal through constant training, sex and friendship bracelets. First Rhysand, I know what SJM was going for, seeing Rhysand not through Feyres rose colored glasses but she took it to the extreme with him lying to Feyre. Second Feyre herself losing her spark and fight and basically just being a doormat. Third Mor, “the dreamer of the night court” saying Nesta should be a Hewn City and still weirdly flirting with Cassian in front of Nesta. Just weird. And lastly Cassian, this strong dynamic character is nothing but a himbo now. What happened to The General of the night court? Because it is not acosf cassian.

And Nesta’s friends. Two girls who have never seen Nestas bad side, never been on the receiving end of her bitchyness are now her sisters? Is Emerie paying her bills? Would Gwyn stick around if Nesta called her a dog? NO. Feyre and Elain tried so hard for Nesta and nothing came of it. The ending was so cheap just to redeem Nesta and get her in the good graces of Rhys/Feyre. No real healing at all, and especially none with Elain who Nesta would supposedly whore/steal for. Yet she’s giggling so much with Emerie/Gwyn when if she just gave half of that love to her sisters everything would’ve been okay.

I seriously do not know what was going through SJM’s head while writing this and to me Nesta still isnt a good character. And it’s going to be very weird if in the next book she’s hanging out with the IC like nothing ever happened and they’re a great family

Especially the Emerie and Gwyn part. Like that part enrages me the most about that book. That and the obliteration of Cassian's character. But yes, if suddenly Nesta came to Gwyn and threw at her that she was responsible for Catrin's death, hwo would Gwyn react? Yet people feel that Elain totally overreacted when Nesta did that to her and accused her of basically killing their father. If Nesta made a comment about Emerie's sexuality, for example, would Emerie be like, oh, it's cool girl! Where as slutshaming Feyre in ACOTAR is somehow not a biggie.

The writing is such a mess.

Mor is actually a great example of how SJM just...doesn't think!??!!

If she is attempting to make Mor even less likable, I suppose she is succeeding. But Mor still hanging on Cassian, bashing his mate in front of him, telling Nesta that she ought to be in Hewn City...what the fuck?

I mean, maybe SJM is gearing up to make Mor evil? Because she certainly isn't doing anything to make her even remotely attractive.

And I get the idea of seeing the world through another person's eyes. but that's not how you do it. You have to juxtapose the perception with reality. There needs to be kind of a 'true reality' and then other people's opinions. But we, as readers, have to know that the opinion is in fact skewed. Nesta's views were skewed. But, at the same time, everything was written so badly, everyone comes out looking like shit--including Nesta, and the people that she supposedly hates.

We shouldn't need interviews with the author to understand what she was trying to do/say.

Ugh. SJM assassinated every character in ACOSF and thinks that it's a great book!

stuff like this srsly confuses me cuz I don't understnad how masc means boy/man, but masculine women also exist like I thought masculine was a gender expression, same with feminine,and it didnt actually mean gender identity itself?

and its hard to pinpoint my exact personality and gender expression because like my style is just black hoodies i pick off my floor which im used to doing that for years. and my personality is like everywhere like my likes and dislikes are ig stereotypically fem and masc (cuz i dont actually seperate anything by gender or gender expression , im not raised really being taught the difference.) and stereotypically ig im masculine cuz i dont wear makeup but i dont get that cuz men wear makeup too so how is not wearing makeup masculine to other people. And then i might be considered feminine too cuz I love pink but like I see pink as a very masculine colour in my head. This is why im gonna fail my character design course becasue I dont see colours ike gendered, or like see dark colours as scary for instance, and i dont see clothes as having any meaning other than pieces of fabric. Istg one day il understand style and what the difference is with genders but ig not yet... Like did no one else as a kid see gender as identical, and believe women and men were equally dominant and that women can dom in sx and sht and can mmake nsfw jokes like men and mmen can wear dresses because as a kid i was surrounded by men that wore dresses and stuff like that so its just so normalized to me that I now am struggling to understnad why its a big deal for most and what is so gendered about it. I dont know if im making sense but imagine someone grows up in a society where everyone believed everythng feminine or masculine was just the same meaning and then that person was put on a planet where everyone separates it, because thats hwo i feel right now. And i think masc and feminine should be more nuance then just style. Because soetimmes peoples style and personality dont match, why do I wear black all the time and dark colours? because I just want too. Why do I wear pink, because I just picked it up off my floor. There is no personality or gender behind why I picked those clothes, I dnt even know what clothes would be considered feminine.

the rare times I wore a dress, I was fine with it until people started condescending me and treating me weakly. If I get treated weakly while presenting stereotypically femininely than I guess I don't want to dress stereotypically femininely? But if that idea was gone, I wouldnt mind it. I dont usually present stereotypically femininely i even though im shy and sensitive and that would categorize as feminine to people ig, but whenever i do it, It feels like im doing something im not used to at all cuz i never really had that like stage, ive been the same since a kid and never changed cuz if i change then im going against what im used to, my routine and my mum and rest of my family is gonna make it this massive af deal like I sort of tried fashion by going to thrift stores and getting cheap clothes not just fo cosplay and my brother was like "WOAH. You look so fashionable" and i freaked out cuz hes not used to me being fashionable and i just wanna go back to not doing that yk, attnention is stressful

gonna be a bit of a long ramble - feelings regarding my ongoing burnout

im looking back at old art right now and its so weird how it didnt matter how bad my art was, i was still having fun (of course at the time i couldnt see that my Art wasnt good, i mean i knew I wasnt crazy skilled but i wasnt stopped bc i was having fun) but now i feel like ** If I dont do something new everytime or have cool compositions or poses Everytime its not worth it and i cant call myself an artist and I really really really want this burnout to end. its been going on since 2020. and its just getting worse. ive barely drawn at all this year. Well I have but its unfinished doodles, eternal wips, and i ahte that. i hate that i have nothing to show for Anything and ive wasted all this time.i dont know hwo to get myself back. i really dont.

***to continue onto that, what i mean is trying to not draw the characters in the same, Same Stale Boring Standing pose but if i try to do something else I feel an enormous mental block and i know studies are suppose to help but i feel a mental block there. that i just cant get it. i want ot be way better than i am now but i hardly feel like my art is even good enough at all. i wish i could clear my brain of these thoughts and just. draw. for fun again. for Actual Fun without feeling like im regressing or doing the same thing over again i dont know...im just tired of it all

i don't like calling them squishy but i'll allow it for the sake of me showing off my art process ^_^ + this is NOT cohesive im sorry

okay okay, first of all; i dont use the ball and shield method, i find it really hard to really make the characters turn and make them, make sense if i use the ball and shield method, i use the bent paper method but the ball is in my mind, it's just completely invisible, i don't draw the circle, it's a fucking square, i think, it has corners. okay?

i draw a square that's turning to a specific side, really picky with this because if i dont draw the lines properly it'll turn to a completely different, perspective? and it'll ruin the drawing for me lmao

in specific perspectives, everyone has a thing?? like, cheeks, the cheeks stick out!!! everyone has those i think idk but, yeah

at this point i mostly do the proportion lines now, and the chin because i think, <- or ithink it's called the jaw, anyways, the proportion lines differ with each character because it tells you the exact place for eyes and noses and mouths if the character has that, and characters and people that are humanoid, vaguely for the lack of words, all have proportions - i also mark out where the ears are!! the little circle, the ears are always close to the eyes or exactly lined up to the eyes they're, there, the ears and eyes, anatomy things no idea

okay so this is when you put the detail. you do the perspective and all that stuff and you try to make it look cohesive, now i dont do perspective well, i would rather die but i just try my best. which is where the selection tool comes in!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! the selecting tool is my friend and with YOUR help, it can be YOUR friend too ^_^ no seriously it is the most helpful thing i would cry if it wasnt there

do you see that part?? at the, at the top, i circled it to point it out because i forgot what it was called, we're gonna put the hair there and i have this segment because the character im drawing requires hair and i love hair, i love drawing hair but you can skip this part if your character doesnt have hair or yeah!!!!!!!

On the topic of Kaito and fanfics, I dont suppose you have any tips on writing him do you Oryx? Like. As a concept I think I know hwo to. But in practice. He eludes me.

hmm... well first off trying to write him exactly like he is in the show is probably a futile effort as the character work there is consistent only in how bewildering it can be. this leaves a lot of leeway to interpret him as you like, which can be fun.

i like to think of him as someone who deep down has always wanted to be more normal, to have normal human relationships and emotions, but over the course of his life just dug his heels in so deep on these questionable ideals that eventually he was stuck there and could only, in his mind, double down. a lotta secret loneliness involved here imo.

so i see him as easily affected by small, everyday situations and interactions that other people might not even really register. since these are things he hasn’t really let himself experience much less enjoy for many years. but of course he tries not to show it when he is affected. bc even if he has been character developed somewhat, that kind of “don’t show any weakness” mentality doesn’t go away so easily. he’ll keep that careful wall in place until the very last minute if possible.

...or something like that. i’m not sure if that even counts as a tip, huh. characterization is such an inexplicable Vibe thing for me... but i’m sure your kaito is great and cute and i’d love to read your take on him!

Can you tell me more about gawain and lancelot in the arthurian myths? I really ship then in FGO and I heard that they are bestfriends

ok this is straight up going to be an essay without the revisions so just a stream of consciousness on my thoughts of how their relationship is handled in both fate and then the legends themselves since fate pulls a lot yet changes some key aspects that really makes their relationship what it is. it kinda goes from a one sided pinning for an idiot who doesnt comprehend love to a more. theyre just bros. which kinda makes me upset anyways. under the cut. im so sorry for hwo long this is gonna be i have a lot to say about gawain and lancelot.

ok honestly i think fgo handles their relationship pretty well from what ive seen. they genuinely are just bros too stupid to realize the other is flirting with them in their own ways which is fucking hilarious. i think the only thing that bugs me about how fate actually likes. has them interact is they remove like. the greatest bit of their friendship and i think make it just about the war between them at the end. i cant say for certain but from what i can figure out i think they reduce gawain and lancelots conflict at the end of the main story to just completely them fighting and gawain dying via lancelots wound? but i dont know for certain dont quote me on this. this both a) removes all the REAL tragedy of this situation of both of them just being really fucked up over grief and regrets stirred by arthur in the first place and b) completely ignores one of the best bit of gawain characterization in le morte, gawain forgiving his literal best friend on his death bed and pleading for his return, to come back and mourn for him, to try to save whats left of the world they both helped build and protect. in an adaptation of le morte (which fate lore mostly is) i think gawains final letter is NEEDED to complete his arc and his like. entire character since malory (and then thus fate) spends more time focused on lancelot.

like just pulling from their dialog w each other in the My Room things, gawain talks about his regret and immaturity over... not forgiving lancelot? what . and lancelot just offers to play chess which is extremely funny. (on another note hwy does fate gawain hate bors. i ltierally can not figure this out at all why is he so mean to his best friends cousin theyre bros.... theyre bros!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

anyways now onto the legends because this isnt about fate. fuck fate i hate fate all of my homies hate fate. im gonna focus MOSTLY on le morte since that connects to fates version more and pull some quotes from other legends i have memorized but there is absolutely more, and the vulgate delves into it a bit more but i havent ... gotten that far im so sorry the prose merlin is kicking my ass.

the thing to note is gawain (excluding guenevere) was kinda the first person to show lancelot respect when he came to court. gawain kinda took him under his wing for a bit, and they end up VERY close. they have a relationship built off of respect and understanding for each other and it ends up being one of lancelots only Real friendships throughout most legends since he has issues w communication and understanding intention that i could (and will) rant about for hours so i wont delve too into it rn. but like. theyre arthurs best knights basically. troyes will say otherwise and say eric and yvaine are better than lancelot but troyes is fucking stupid and a whore, and most sources will tell you its gawain and lancelot (most sources favor lancelot over gawain due to the french influence on some later literature, and le morte is on the lancelot side due to being pulled a lot from the post vulgate, which pulls from the vulgate, aslo called the lancelot-graal cycle. its a whole thing)

but basically for a lot of the main legends you have two Absolute Best Bros who would literally do anything for the other, one being extremely horny and the other being so hopelessly inept when it comes to communication he doesnt understand how love works. theyre a wonderful pair :-) im kidding theyre so fukcing stupid watching them interact is like watching a car crash. its fucking disastrous and you want to yell at them to just beat the shit out of each other homoerotically and understand their feelings (which they do! wow! shout out to le morte!) anyways to keep this from getting too long lets go over some fun gawain quotes about his Best Friend. Who he thinks about a lot. but like... in a no homo way. he swears.

anwyays uhhhhh to keep this short heres a fun compilation of gawain being gawain. and a pretty good overview of how how gawain talks about his Best Friend in a totally not gay way. its straight if he says no homo.

anyways: tldr lancelot and gawain are in love even if both of them are too stupid to realize it. thats basically their entire relationship. everything goes to shit after lancelot accidently kills gareth and gaheris because lancelot too thinks of them as his brothers and is so torn up about it he lets everything happen. gawain starts a war with him because he would rather die than face the music. like its insane.... they should kiss. fate kinda gets this ok, but i think they should have had them just more homoerotic at every given moment because they Are. thanks for listening to my ted talk. im sorry im like this.

anyway i dont know hwo coherent this will be but i don’t want to lose these thoughts, so.

imo s1 of the show unquestionably portrays lilith as predatory/grooming toward sabrina, it’s not even subtle. i’m thinking of incidents like:

- lilith trailing her hand along sabrina’s shoulders and sabrina looking visibly disturbed - lilith licking her finger and wiping a nonexistent speck from sabrina’s cheek, causing sabrina to run away from her - lilith hiding in bathrooms to spy on sabrina or wait for the right moment to prey on her - lilith being in sabrina’s bedroom, gasping with delight, caressing her pillow, and enchanting the mirror to let her spy on sabrina as a female cover of “black magic woman” plays - more tangentially, lilith using stolas to spy on teenage girls in the shower at the academy (ostensibly trying to spy on sabrina)

all of this is evidently part of her plan to guide sabrina toward her dark baptism and her ownership by satan; in essence, she is a sexual predator by proxy for the dark lord, whose incestuous and pedophilic intentions toward sabrina become explicit in s2.

all that being said... none of this is necessary for lilith to accomplish her goal. indeed, emulating the real mary wardwell more closely by acting as a benign mentor, rather than threatening and sexually suggestive corruptor, would probably have gotten sabrina where she wanted her faster. there’s imo no inherent story logic to lilith appearing to groom sabrina sexually.

what’s the goal of sexualizing her this way? why portray her as flirtatious with other women, sexually predatory toward sabrina, and overtly loathing toward men? it’s all a part of her aura as a sinister villain—it’s how the show chose to accomplish its goal of making her seem threatening and dangerous to sabrina. certainly she’s campy while she does it, but she is an active threat to sabrina’s well-being. and the show makes that clear by depicting her, subtextually, as a pedophile and lesbian sexual predator.

thus, in season 2, when it wants to initiate her redemption arc, caos pivots. lilith isn’t interested in sabrina at all, it insists—she complains during the christmas special and at the beginning of this season about being stuck, frustrated, and tired of dealing with sabrina. and her emotional arc centers around the abrupt introduction of a male love interest—the fiance of mary wardwell (who shows up quite conviently, given that mary is explicitly described as being ‘alone’ at the beginning of the show).

centering lilith’s story this season around her experiences with adam—who has no personality, and is more or less a pull-string doll whose only spoken phrase is “i love you, mary!”—massively shifts focus from her relationship w sabrina; indeed, while i haven’t quantified this, it seems to me they’ve shared much less screen time this season than last season. her sexual interest is redirected onto an appropriate object in time for it to teach her a lesson about her abusive relationship with the dark lord and decide to overthrow him, leading, ultimately, to her redemption upon helping to save sabrina and crowning herself queen of hell.

don’t get me wrong, i’m not complaining about the fact that she stops preying on sabrina. what i’m pointing out here is that, while she was a villain, lilith was arbitrarily portrayed as a homophobic stereotype—the predatory teacher who grooms her vulnerable female students. when the writers decided they wanted her to be a hero, they backpedaled from that choice, rehabilitating her by centering her emotional focus and drive around her experiences with a randomly introduced male character, who otherwise contributed nothing to the story.

what does it mean that lilith is portrayed this way? im tired and open tomorrow, so i might have to get back to you on a firm conclusion. but for me, it suggests a few things: DEFINITE buried homophobia/lesbophobia on the part of the writers—given the depiction of ambrose and luke in the show? ya. doesn’t shock me that the writers would also lean on sexual stereotypes about lesbians here. perhaps a continuation of the tradition of portraying lesbian killers in media? or perpetuating the “bisexual sociopath” stereotype most recently invoked by a simple favor, using sapphic sexuality to imply a character’s “cr*ziness” while finally emphasizing that their ultimate desire will always be for men?

i think it certainly expresses the writers’ carelessness about the way they portray their characters and the falseness of their apparent feminist intent. anyway idk. that’s about it

Notes: This was the first thing I wrote post KH3 and I think I’m okay with putting it out at this point. So yes, warning for KH3 spoilers.

The formatting of this fic is a little weird quite frankly, because it’s a ( mostly ) texting based fic. I used strikethrough at points to indicate messages that were deleted / unsent, but since I know strikethrough can be finicky on some devices ( tumblr mobile ), so I’ve gone ahead and also italicized those parts as well.

There are also some obvious typos! Mostly for a touch of realism because Riku absolutely accidentally typos shit. There are other reasons that I hope are obvious when reading it!

Summary: Riku keeps sending messages because he doesn’t know how else to cope.

It’s an admittedly bad habit he’s gotten into, writing up messages that he won’t send. Riku means to cut off the urge before it become a habit, but here he is, still typing up messages for him and him alone.

It’s kind of therapeutic, to write up the things that he can’t really find the words to say aloud— and one would say he should invest in a journal before he accidentally sends a text he does not mean to, but he doesn’t think it’d be quite the same. Doesn’t simulate the same kind of conversation, even if that means a few things that he doesn’t mean to say slip through.

( If it were just anyone he was sending these messages to, Riku knows he might have more than a few reservations— but it’s Sora, who never judges him, even if there are more than a few things he would like to keep secret for him ).

So he continues typing up messages to get things off his chest, and if Sora finds it annoying that he spends more time typing up theoretical conversations than actually having them, he never says anything about it. Probably because Sora only understands how to use their gummiphones half the time to begin with.

Of course, he does send actual messages too, even if perhaps less frequently. Short little blurbs when he can tell that by the increasing frequency in his messages that Sora is worried ( and as bad as Riku is at saying what he wants, he can at least make sure he isn’t worrying for no good reason ).

Notifications of social media updates, text messages that were a litany of errors between them; the buildup of numbers bring some form of comfort.

Until they don’t.

We’ve done it before in worse circumstances.

[ Text : Sora ] It hurts?

If he had been dependent on his phone before, then it was most certainly his lifeline afterwards.

Old notifications are left alone, a flashing number remains constant—as if the moment Riku checks it, it will disappear ( and some of the hope that he clings onto will go with it ).

He sends messages when he needs someone to talk to, so, nothing has really changed in that regard. He thinks about it a little more like writing letters than a journal. Sora will see them eventually, he hopes—thinks he would laugh at how many messages he sends and what kind of things Riku chooses to talk about.

It’s better than thinking of the alternative—

( The illusion is jarring and broken more quickly than he would like to admit because Sora has almost always been quick to check his messages, regardless of situation, the fact that the device will remind him of the fact that his messages continue to go unread is jarring and hard to get used to.

He willingly clings to the hope that something might change )
