Guess what is out today! The second edition of Hunting the Devil or HTD 2.0 as I affectionately call it. As the Israel/Palestine crisis, the Russia/Ukraine crisis, the China/Uyghur crisis, the Myanmar/Rohingya crisis, and all the other crises mounted around the world and niggled my conscience, I thought to re-release my second novel, Hunting the Devil, which I neglected during the Covid Pandemic. A friend recommended I time the re-release for April 7, 2024, the thirtieth anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide, during which the book is set.
Speaking of April 7th, because you can’t put a free book on preorder on Amazon, the eBook is priced at $3.99 from today, April 1 until April 7, 2024, the actual anniversary of the start of the genocide. If you wish to support me as an author, you can plop down $3.99 until April 7th and then again as of July 16th; however, I won’t hold it against you if you wait for the freebie days of April 7 through July 15, 2024. The whole point of the re-release is to call attention to the plight of millions of people currently facing genocide around the world.
Anyway, the HTD 2.0 eBook is available now to purchase from Amazon and other retailers! If you're more of a print book lover, you can also pre-order the paperback from Amazon, which will be released on April 7th.

My apologies to everyone who has tried to get my free eBook of #HuntingTheDevil from Amazon. Apparently, you cannot list a book for free on Amazon unless you sign up for KDP and list your book exclusively with Amazon. As I have already gone worldwide, I don’t want to list exclusively with Amazon. SOOOOO, the book will be 99cents (which is still a bargain for a 500-page book) on Amazon alone.

A Brief History and a Timeline for the Rwanda Genocide
APRIL 7, 2024 MARKS THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE RWANDAN GENOCIDE.
For those of you who might want a little more background on the Rwandan Genocide either before or after reading #HuntingTheDevil, I have compiled a brief background and timeline of the war and posted it on my website.
The take-home point is that no one cared. No one wanted to admit this was a genocide, because they would have to act to suppress it—and no one would accept that responsibility, including the United Nations and the United States. All in all, the Nancy Kerrigan and Tonya Harding skating debacle garnered more media attention—as did the murder trial of O.J. Simpson for allegedly killing Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman—than the killing of nearly a million people and the displacement either internally or externally of millions of others.
I had originally planned this as a 100-day series of posts on social media but decided I couldn’t stomach 100 days of images to accompany my words. The #HuntingTheDevil ebook will be free on most platforms starting on April 7, 2024, the 30th anniversary of the genocide.

I am so thrilled to introduce the new paperback version of the second edition of #HuntingTheDevil being released on 4/7/2024, in response to the worldwide epidemic of genocides and to mark the thirtieth anniversary of the Rwandan Genocide. The lovely cover was designed by #JayeRochon of #CleverUnicorn. She chose roses with thorns because they're the Rwandan national flower, an elegant way to depict the bloodshed and the angst of the genocide as well as the beauty of the romance. The colors overlaid on the book title are those of the Rwandan flag. She pulled together something that feels evocative, powerful, and dark but also hopeful. It also says "Kickass African-American female main character.” The electronic edition will be free on most major platforms from April 7 through July 15, 2024, the hundred days the 1994 genocide lasted.

My October 2023 books read. I was revising my book on genocide, #HuntingTheDevil, and definitely needed something a little lighter to read. Enter historical romance—the perfect antidote. The best of these—#TheBulletSwallower by #ElizabethGonzalezJames; #TheStoneSeries by MandyHaggith; #BlueMonsoon by#DamyantiBiswas; and the two by #RoméoDallaire, NATO commander during the Rwanda Genocide.

Hunting the Devil explores the heartbreak and healing of an American physician caught up in the 1994 Rwandan genocide. Part medical procedural, part global political thriller, part justice / revenge-seeking novel, and part fractured romance, Hunting the Devil is a gut-wrenching novel of a doctor pushed to her limits during one of the most grotesque moments in modern world history. Dr. Jessica Hemings, a biracial American physician, becomes embroiled in the tragic events of the Rwandan genocide. When her children are murdered, she doggedly tracks their killer. Hunting the Devil explores how war changes Jessica’s definition of humanity and, ultimately, what it means to be human.
